Best Chinese Buffet in Muncie and that is saying alot with the number of Chinese Buffets in this town. I especially like their shrimp and steak on the the Mongolian Bar. When they have it I love the Egg Foo Young ( they only serve ot for lunch and it goes fast ). They have a great dessert bar also. Their Frog Legs are great and not dry. Waitresses are very attentive and keep you glass filled. Price is very good considering the quantity and quality of the food served.

Good value and good variety. I'm not a big fan of chinese buffets, but i'd say that King's rates high on those that I've visited. I was with a large party, and King's set up a nice area for us to gather. Clean, Friendly, and above average quality.

Value. Above average food at a below average price. Excellent hot and sour soup - great pot stickers and crab rangoons. I'll be back.

I used to work in Muncie and everyone raved about this place. A buddy and I gave it a shot and thought it was so-so. My wife and I tried it a few weeks later and we agreed...if u like dry, overcooked and tasteless Chinese this place is for you. I've been to a lot better places than this, yes the value for what you pay is good but bland, fatty, greasy food isn't worth it. They do have alot to choose from and the staff is excellent. Too bad the food isnt up to par. I've tried this place a few times hoping it gets better but it hasn't and I don't believe it will.

My favorite buffet restaurant. Good food, pleasant service, at an unbeatable price. I'd spent nearly that much, for lunch, at any of the fast food places.

Ah... Muncie: The Land of the Buffet. King's does the mega-buffet right. A crazy number of square metal food tubs under glass to sample from, plus a cook-to-order grill & Mongolian hot rock BBQ are included. The food was a little better than I expected and the price was right... about $10 will get you a metric ton of food and a diet soda. The only thing that totally sucked (and understandably so, can't hold it against them) was the sushi. If the car is full of people who can't decide what they want to eat, go here. Lo mein and pizza, tater tots over Kung Pao Chicken, steak & pot stickers with pickled ginger, ice cream topped with wasabi paste... Everything under the sun is on the buffet line and anything goes. When I was in college visiting Muncie some years ago, it seemed like all you could eat here was fast food or buffets. And neither option at the time was particularly exciting. The running joke between my sister and I was that the fine folks here preferred grazing to dining. Now there are a great number of quality, interesting places to eat. Perhaps I was blind and dumb back then or Muncie has grown up. Not sure, nor does it matter- this IS a good town to eat in, and that includes enjoying "Indecisive Night" at King's. Happy Trails !

For the longest time, my Husband and I visited King Buffet once a week. The staff knew us by name. For the most part, I enjoyed the place. My husband was a fan of the ice cream, until we watched 2 little boys on their tip toes spitting in to ice cream containers. After that, eh, the ice cream lost it's appeal I guess. About a year ago, we went and had a less than pleasurable experience which put us off going for awhile. We returned in March of this year and it was even worse. Service was delayed, the food items I got were either over cooked, under cooked, or just plain dried out. I ended up sticking to a plate of fruit. On top of that, they brought us the wrong check. We paid $40 for the two of us to eat. Rather than attempt to argue, we just paid it and left. I honestly don't think we will ever go back.

THUMBS UP. Cleanliness: Better than average. Very clean dining area, and very clean men's room. Ambience: Better than average. A little showy, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a Barbie(tm) doll house. I did like the pheasant painting on the table-top. They have both booths and tables. They also have a couple of private dining areas in the back for large groups. There is no extra charge for the private dining area. It's included in the meal price. So you could have your club dinner-meeting here. Food Quality/Presentation: Better than average for a buffet. I'd rate it 4 out of 5. Very wide selection of salad bar area, veggies, meats, grilled items, Mongolian (concoct-your-own-and-cooked-right-there-for-you), and steam table items, and large dessert area with lots of fruit and sweets. I really like the salad bar stuff, as it included seafood salad, a couple other creamy dishes, and lots of different veggies I could have completely filled up on just the salad bar and fruity desserts alone. I didn't get any Mongolian-grill items, but I did try some of the pre-cooked grill items that are served at the end of the Mongolian grill station. The teryaki chicken was hard and dry, but the beef shish-kebab was very good. The sushi wasn't very good. But you can't expect all-you-can-eat high-quality sushi at these cheap buffet prices. If you want good sushi, go to a good sushi/Japanese restaurant. Service: Used plates were taken away promptly, and drinks refilled. Perceived Value: I'd rate the value 5 out of 5. $5.39 (plus 1.19 drink) for lunch, and $7.99 (plus drink) for supper, plus tax. Crab legs available for dinner, but not lunch. Those are the Monday through Thursday prices. Weekend prices are a bit higher, but I forgot to take note. Bottom line: $7.11 (including drink and tax) (not including tip) for lunch is an EXCELLENT deal! (Mon-thurs price.) Very friendly staff, and the waitresses were among the sweetest people around.

I stop in here about once a year when I'm back in town. This has become the IT Chinese place since Red Sun fell apart and closed its doors. I used to think it was a really nice place. I've had to downgrade it to just OK. I guess I've eaten at too many other quality Chinese restaurants in the last few years. It's very clean and well decorated. The staff all seem very friendly and helpful. The food is just a run of the mill Chinese buffet fare. The only thing that seems to set this one apart is the Sushi. I don't think you can get it anyplace else in this area. It's just the standard run of the mill Sushi that could be found at most Chinese buffets in Indy or any larger city. It also has the anomaly of being known as an all you can eat steak house. It appears that a good part of the crowd goes for that. Don't they realize what a steak should be? To me that meat should be cut up and used in fajitas, not steak. The only other comment I could make about this place was that at 6'1" and two hundred and forty pounds I was coming in on the trim side of this crowd. It kind of looks like an audition space for the TV show "The Biggest Loser". All in all it's OK Chinese food, in an OK location, at OK prices.

I used to love this place back when I lived in the country, & travelling to Muncie meant I'd be getting some different choices for dining. That sounds so sad. I went there today, & even though it was right at lunchtime on a Sunday, (prime buffet hours) a lot of the things were empty & looked dry & overcooked. There's a serious lack of vegetarian items here, so I usually just nibble on mediocre veggie sushi & make a plate up at the Mongolian Grill. I get a delicious sense of superiority when coming here, because I inevitably end up sitting near a table full of people who go to this place for all you can eat steaks, pork chops, and crab legs, which just seems insulting. If you can't afford to go to the steakhouse & cram red meat into your face, I guess it's acceptable to eat only the expensive non-Asian 'luxury' foods at a Chinese buffet?! It just seems very low class. Overheard at the table in front of me today: "You better eat til you're stuffed here. This here's a real buffet. I don't want to hear that you're hungry like you did last night at Ponderosa." Apparently they ate at another buffet the night before?! The family also had more than one person wearing Nascar apparel. Gotta love the Midwest at times I guess. All in all, the food's just OK anymore. I end up going here a few times a year due to my family being nearby, but I remember them being a lot better & stopped going to Red Sun when King Buffet opened. Maybe it's time to see how Red Sun is faring.

The inside of this restaurant looks like Barbie's home - there's a running fountain full of plump fish, the rhinestone chandeliers are blanketed in pink hues, and the plush carpet cushions your step. I used to really love this place - I was a sucker for shitty Chinese food. I was also a sucker for meat. Then I tasted true Chinese cuisine and I became a vegetarian. Then King's Buffet started to taste like shit. But whatever - they have a great dessert section with dainty cakes and adorable tarts, not to mention ice cream. And I would kill for one of those sugar buns.

I love good bad Chinese and King Buffet does the trick. The steak and sushi components are staffed by Mexicans, but hell, if you want real Chinese food, why would you even attempt getting it in Indiana. Anyway, the sushi is ok, lomein is fine, salad bar is passable. They never seem to have much in the way of vegetarian fare - absolutely no tofu or seitan to be found. Standard stuff, deep fried, dumbed-down, and sloshed about in fatty sauces. If they don't have pizza on the steam table by now, I'd be surprized. However, if you like to watch the morbidly obese get fatter and fatter, this place serves dece fresh fruit and excellent people watching.
