Only words necessary: Yay for Concannons!

Concannon's is a decadent and delicious. Eating it every day would probably put you in an early grave, but there are worse things than death by doughnuts. The chocolate long john with cream filling still calls to me sometimes even though I am hundreds of miles away. Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme don't hold a candle.

Memories! Favorite splurge for the waistline, but not on the wallet!

My daughter and I were traveling from northern Indiana back to Louisville the other day when we decided to take a detour to Muncie. The reviews for Concannon's were accurate! Everything we purchased was delicious and the price was unbelievable! I would definitely recommend this place.

It pains me to only give this place 3 stars, but I was really expecting more. Some coworkers are always talking about the donuts here, so I felt like I had to go and give them a try. Granted, I'm not a fan of filled donuts and I saw there were a lot of those, so maybe I was just trying the wrong thing. I ended up getting an apple fritter, a blueberry cake donut, and sugar cookie, and some cinnamon bread. I did like the wide variety of things they sold at this store. However, the first three things on that list that I bought were just decent. There was nothing special about them. Don't get me wrong, they were good, I've just had so much better.

I went to Muncie to visit my sister last week and thought I'd stop in here to pickup something for desert. She loves the place and now I know why. Besides the great service and really nice people the food looks and taste delicious. I picked up a strawberry pie and it was as good as it looked. I'll be back.

Having grown up in Muncie and eaten several thousand Concannon's donuts in my time, it is quite possible that my taste buds adapted themselves to find Concannon's donuts as sweet-toothily satisfying as I do; however, I stand by my claim that Concannon's Pastry Shop is the best bakery in North America. I have been to bakeries on each coast, a good half of the States, and two countries and have never found a donut better than at Concannon's. I could go on and on and on about the nut-topped or peanut butter persions, or the Napoleans, or the caramel corn, but the thing that cannot be beat... the item that I want a baker's dozen of on the very day that I am taken to that great mansion in the sky is: the chocolate topped, cream filled long john. What a beauty to behold! I think it was Ben Franklin who said, "Concannon's butter-cream is proof that God loves us and wants us to be chubby."

Best pastries in the area. 2 locations to shop at. Their Pecan Rolls are the best, plenty of pecans and alot of sticky caramel. They also have great bear paws and jelly filled. Face it, it is all good.
(5)Steph P.
Delicious and cheap! Their donuts, that is. I'm a sucker for filled sticks. (As my grandma likes to call them) so I couldn't have just one.

Two Words: TEA COOKIES. This place is brillant. Everytime I come home to visit family, I have to take a stroll through Concannon's Pastry Shop and stock up on all that delicious sugar I've been missing out on. It's probably good that I don't live in Muncie anymore, because I think that I would eat the Whole. Store.....Everyday. I mean, creme filled red velvet cupcakes....caramel and flavored candied popcorn....cakes.....donuts.....I mean, it's almost too much to handle. In fact, no matter how many times I go into this store, I always leave completely overwelmed. That's why I say, Tea Cookies. When in doubt, tea cookies. Geez, why did I write this review, I need some right now! See you soon, Concannon's!

I was here yesterday for breakfast with my father and sister while visiting BSU. I was unsure where to go but being an avid user of yelp on the east coast I figured it would come in handy out here in the middle states. I was wrong. This was the only choice they had under the coffee and tea category that wasn't a Starbucks and I was really enthusiastic in finding something not so commercialized hence I came across Concannon. It wasn't the nicest place but was impressed when I saw Buddy Valastro's picture over one of their cakes. I was definitely overwhelmed with the assortment of chocolates and pastries they had available. I ended up getting the cheese Danish and 2 peanut butter pretzel sticks, my sister had the cherry Danish, and my father had a powdered Bavarian creme filled donut and glazed twist. It was delicious but I'm not into sweets as much as the rest of my family so I found myself picking off most of the glaze. I was disappointed that the deli wasn't open as I was hoping to order chicken salad on a croissant as another reviewer had suggested. It was also disappointing that my only drink option was milk, coffee, or orange juice. I'm a big tea drinker and lactose intolerant so I was stuck with crappy orange juice. What did surprise me was the grand total for 4 pastries, 3 drinks, and pretzel sticks... $10. You definitely can't get that kinda deal for freshness on the east coast. I came back today because like I said, they have a huge assortment of chocolates so I bought a nice box to bring home to mom!

The best thing about being in Muncie is Concannon's donuts. The cream filled long johns are the best. No place else seems to be able to get the cream right.
(5)Carrie C.
Best donuts I've ever had. Get the pretzel twists! Also the brownis. They melt in your mouth

Surprisingly understaffed this afternoon. One person working behind the bakery counter and one person in the restaurant part. The baked goods were as good as they ever were. I don't know how they can make it as good as they do and sell it for as little as they do. I just know I am glad they do. The pastries, coffee cakes, doughnuts and rolls are the best. I am not a fan of their cookies. I prefer Paradise and Zinsers for their cookies.
(5)Marlena L.
I like to eat donuts, but Concannon's donuts are heaven. I have only ate their donuts, but they have everything from chocolate, cookies, cake, cheesecake, donuts, sandwich's, soup, etc. The list goes on, they have every kind of donut you would want and they are all delicious. If you are ever in Muncie or find a gas station that carries the Concannon donuts you really need to get one, they are the best. The staff has always been friendly, helpful and especially patient since they have so many things to choose from. I felt like a child in a candy shop and was in pure heaven.
(5)Ken W.
The pastries, cookies, and chocolates are all amazing here. I haven't personally tried any of their cafe food or popcorn, but from what I have tried, everything has been amazing so far. Great place to go for a birthday cake

On a suggestion from a friend, I grabbed donuts here one Saturday morning. It quickly became a weekly routine- they have a pretty good selection of pastries, adding interesting flavored depending on the season. Also, they're dirt cheap- my girlfriend and I can get 4 or 5 donuts for $3-4. Definitely would recommend to a friend.

Great selection, great quality!

The addition of the cafe and coffee bar to the Concannon's food offering has been a welcome treat in Muncie. Not only do they continue to offer great pastries, desserts, and other specialities, they now offer soups, salads, and sandwiches. Each meal comes with a cookie, which is always a fun surprise. The salad portions are quite large and include a variety of dressing options. They typically offer several different soups a day, including a variety of vegetarian friendly options. There will often be a wait, but it is definitely worth it!

I grew up with a Concannon's doughnut in my mouth, so I feel like I'm turning my back on my childhood when I say this place ain't all that. I just like sugar, not necessarily their secret recipes. I actually prefer the old joint by the high school - this place reminds me of an old folks home. I want the sweets, not sammies. Also, what's with all that popcorn?

This is Concannon's new business on Baker Ln. If you haven't been there, go! This location offers all of the goodies of Concannon's first location but now has a cafe serving cold sandwiches, wraps, soups, and coffee. If you've ever been to the original Concannon's, it goes without saying they have a great dessert selection as well! The environment is very nice. It's clean, and has a country look to it. The counters are all wood with marble tops. The staff are very friendly and, at least at the moment, offer up more free samples while you're eating than you can shake a stick at. The food is great. So far I've tried the chicken salad on a croissant, the reuben, the BLT, and the chicken soup. The food is good, especially for the price (a sandwich, soup, and a cookie for about $7). The espresso here is also great. The first latte I got easily beat out the MT Cup and possibly the Blue Bottle. The barista attempted to do some latte art but it needs some work. 'A' for effort. This has the potential to become the best coffee bar in Muncie.

Everytime I return to Muncie I stop by Concannon's. I'm a big fan of their napoleons and always make sure I grab something extra to take on the road with me. Like others have said they prices are way cheap here and the pastries are always fresh and delicious.
(5)Aaron A.
The best coffee and donuts (and lots more) this side of the Mississippi! Trust me, you won't regret buying a treat from here. By the way, make sure to bring a coffee mug with you. Coffee refills are only 50¢!
(5)Brady L.
I love the donuts from here. Always fresh. Always delicious. I've never had their food but the donuts alone make the trip worth it. Just try not to eat too many or your next stop will have to be the gym.
(5)Valerie G.
'eh... its ok... I mean, its really as good as Muncie gets, so I guess I can't complain. When I was in high school we were allowed to be late to class as long as we brought the teacher Concannon's so its a big deal to some I suppose. As for largest selection? Really? For Muncie, maybe...

Simply too sweet. I know, you're thinking it's a bakery, of course it's sweet. But having very little flavour aside from the sensation of sweet is not a good thing. The cakes are too dry, the baklava's meh. A good quality cake shouldn't require a glass of milk to go with it; it should be a nice complement but not mandatory. Also what's with the piles of frosting on the donuts? Does everything have to send you into insulin shock? The sort of place I would have loved as a kid, with all the frosting going on here. Received an Easter cake as a 'gift,' & was shocked at how amateurish it looked. This is a professional bakery? The frosting wasn't even at all on the cake & the entire thing looked like a grade-schooler slapped some plastic picks & decor onto a crooked overfrosted cake. I know they're the local guys & they've been there forever, but that doesn't excuse poor quality & sloppiness in standards of execution.

After checking out the sad selection of pastries at a chain store, I decided to pay a visit to Concannon's based on reviews I had read. When we walked in the door, I was overwhelmed with the smell of sweet deliciousness. We needed a bit of time to make our selections, but the lady behind the counter seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. It was attentiveness gone overboard. I chose a half dozen cake and a half dozen yeast donut holes. The bf got a blueberry cake donut and a jelly filled one. They were amazing! Someone said they thought they used too much sugar, but I thought they were perfect. I had to stop myself 7 holes in so I didn't go into a sugar coma. I had a small bite of the blueberry donut which was awesome as well. As we walked through the bakery, I noticed they sold cake by the slice...for $1.59! I will definitely be back before our visit to Muncie ends. This will be a must visit for future visits as well. Yum!!!!!

Why can't big cities have decent simple donut shops like this? Why can't they do this in New York, or L.A., or London, or Paris or San Francisco? Is it that rents are higher in bigger cities or everything has to be more expensive to appeal to people? Why do small towns in Indiana get all the good stuff?
(5)Rob H.
Amazing bakery. I walk in and want 1 of everything. The counter must be 45 feet long and full of every baked good imaginable. I've gotten pastry and donuts there for client meetings and they're always a big hit. Delicious.
(5)Bradley G.
WOW! There really is no need for a review. This place is so awesome! If you come to Muncie and have a sweet tooth then you definately should stop by Concannons on Walnut street. Great place for sweets!
(5)Jennifer D.
I have really only had their donuts and cupcakes. They are both great. It's definitely not a coffee shop so don't expect anything fancy there. The donuts are delicious though and they have many flavors.
(5)Leilani P.
Yum! My favorite meal there is the chicken salad sandwich on the croissant with a side of their amazing pasta salad. I love the cafe!! It is always clean and it has a open feel to it. And the meals come with cookies. My coworkers sometimes bring in donuts at work and they are yummy as well. They have a wide variety of popcorn, cakes, cookies, pastries, cupcakes, chocolate lollipops and donuts.

OMG!! The best bakery I have been to in the Midwest, hands down. Cookies, cakes, pies, breads, chocolates, flavored popcorn, sandwiches, coffee, smoothies... the list goes on! All of it heavenly! All you have to do is drop in and see for yourself, you don't even have to go in wanting to buy something, you will leave with something anyways! The donuts are head over heals better than a place like Dunkin Donuts. Tonight we stopped in to buy a Boston Creme Cake and it is giving me a pastrygasm!! If you eat anywhere in Muncie, eat at Concannon's!! Oh, I almost forgot to mention that prices are unbelievably low. A cake for $7; normally you would pay $6 for a slice of a gourmet cake like this in a restaurant- so $7 for a delicious cake is awesome.

While in Muncie visiting my boyfriend, who attends BSU, we swung by Concannon's for a morning nosh, and I swear that the "hallelujah" song started playing the moment I walked inside. The first thing you notice is the insane amount of chocolates...there are sugar free, dark chocolates, barks, truffles, opera creams, chocolate dipped Oreos, even themed chocolate pops like dinosaur and Twilight (lolz). We settled on some donuts and a muffin. My glazed donut was so pillow soft and airy that I could hardly feel guilty about eating it, and the glaze was the perfect amount of covering and sweetness. My boyfriend's chocolate muffin was the size of a softball (literally) and was so crumbly, moist, and sweet that it could easily be shared by two (or three or four...). Concannon's service was also top notch, as the staff were very knowledgeable and courteous to answer any questions about ingredients, taste, etc. Next time I'm in Muncie, I'm swinging back by for some more dark chocolate-dipped Oreos and a sandwich!

This place has tons of stuff to choose from. Fresh donuts and danishes, candy, gourmet popcorn, fresh breads and rolls, coffee, and the list goes on. They have two locations now and the new one is also a sandwich shop. My favorite thing from them is their pumpkin donuts with cream cheese icing. They are divine! My only complaint about them is they are seasonal and only one weekends when they are in season. Boo-hiss!!! At least they have other delectables to choose from to keep me content. I love thier cheese danishes, and you have to try their french cream-filled donuts!!! A must try, I promise! (note: the pictures on this page are of the newer location on Morrison Rd. and the outdoor seating is only at the newer location) The originial location is across from Muncie Central HS on Walnut St.
