Friendly waitress. We tried their white dragon roll and their party girl roll... Both my fiance and I enjoyed the party girl roll more than the other. It had a lot of flavor. Very tiny place, so don't plan on bringing a really large group.

The food is Chinese or Japanese. Nothing on the menu was considered fusion. I've been to Seattle where I've had an Asian meets Soul food fusion. So when I think of fusion I think of meals from 2 different cultures that meet to form something special! The drinks were good. But I've experienced better.

We loved it! We are excited to go back. They have an outdoor seating area that we are looking forward to if it ever warms up here. I got the Spider Roll, my husband got the Dragon Roll. Both very good. It did take a while to get our food and they weren't very busy, but our waiter was very attentive and offered soup or salad while we wait.

Sashimi was very good and fresh. Teriyaki steak was a little chewy but the flavor was there. My only real gripe was with the service. I clearly ordered a sushi combination and separate sushi roll but Igot a plate full of sashimi. I can understand that that was just a communication error but the sashimi platter (that I didn't order) didn't even come out until my girlfriend was already asking for a box for her steak. That is not an exaggeration. The manager did make everything right by not charging for the sashimi and and still gave me the sushi platter to go. By the looks of everyone else in the restaurant it seems like the service errors may have been limited to our table. I also believe their food is a little pricey. Not bad but I wouldn't go back.

I was somewhat surprised how good this place was. I would not have expected this out of a japanese fusion restaurant in and old Noble Romans attached to a CVS. Really, that's where this is, attached to a CVS in downtown Mishawaka. When we walked in we thought things must not be going so well for Zing, because it was empty. I guess we were just dining a little early, because it filled up within half an hour, and when we left there were plenty of people waiting. I would recommend reservatons. We stared with the edamame and some green tea. Normally when I order green tea, that's it, it's green tea, conversation over. At Zing they have options. I would have liked some descriptions of the different options, but it was impressive to have 10-15 green tea options none-the-less. The edamame was priced and seasoned well so I was happy. I had the ramen bowl for dinner. It was huge. And it wasn't just huge, it was also delicious. I had large hunks of beef in it that were really tender and 2 quartered baby bok choy. The baby bok choy was a little hard to eat, but it was tasty. There was also a fried egg on top, and really isn't everything better with a fried egg on top? I ended up getting three meals out of this ramen, and that's saying something as I am a pig. Everyone else's good at the table was also fantastic. I will have to go back sometime when I'm home in Mishawaka again.

This IS as good as it gets! I visit zing monthly and every time I am beyond satisfied. Their volcano roll is to die for. The rolls are always served with great thought about presentation and style. I have never had a bad experience here. Try the crab rangoon and one of their many house rolls. You'll no doubt find what I have found--this is THE best sushi in Northern Indiana.

This place was a nice little spot to catch dinner. The intimate setting was conducive to conversation and the staff was friendly and patient as we needed some time to decide on our dishes. The staff took care to make sure the presentation was as good as the ingredients. I look forward to visiting this place again. It would be good for a meal with colleagues, date night, or to suck up to the in-laws.

When my partner moved to South Bend to finish his PhD at ND, we were not impressed with the sushi options. We had many places to choose from back in Michigan and we were worried we'd just have to drive to Chicago if we wanted decent sushi. I was REALLY happy when I saw the ad in the newspaper about Woochi opening. I noticed it mentioned that Zing was their current restaurant and we were like, WHAT!? Why had we not found this place!? We are quite happy to say we don't need to drive to Chicago because this place is fabulous! I love that they are none tempora options and that everything is not drenched in mayo. While my partner is happy they do have these options so this place is a good balance for our tastes. :)

I think these guys own Woochi, which I like better. I love Japanese, especially hibachi. Their Hibachi is delicious, and so is their . I love their ginger salad.

The only reason I am giving them one star, is it is not possible to give them no stars. Maybe the sushi or sashimi is ok, but all I know the food I got was awful. Panda Express at the mall is better than this. Gross, bland, overpriced.

Great, great food in an otherwise sea of mediocrity. Have been looking for a "go-to" place when we visit my in-laws for more than 10 years. There is no longer a need to look. Thank God!

4 stars for everything that's not sushi, 2 stars for the sushi. The ramen was great - more like a beef stew, really, but very tasty. Udon was good, too. My main complaint is the price on the sushi - totally overpriced for what you get. Just get something else from the menu and you'll have a great meal.

Well hello Zing!!! Glad to see something fun and unique go into downtown Mishawaka. I come here with my husband and his parents to celebrate his birthday. I admit I was a little apprehensive because I'm not a huge Asian food fan and sushi kinda frightens me. Enough said because my opinions have totally changed thanks to Zing!! We got there promptly for a 6 pm reservation and were immediately seated. There isn't a lot of room but hey I'm here for food. If you're looking for privacy ask for one of the booths at the back. It wasn't very busy when we got there but almost all the tables had a reserve sign on them. Once seated we were given water and menus to look through. They have a very extensive menu for both food and beverages so it did take awhile for all of us to decide. For starters we ordered the edamame and had green tea. The tea came in a beautiful cast iron set and was very elaborately presented. I felt like royalty. We ordered food. I decided to jump on board and go with sushi. And holy cow! The sushi was freakin' delicious. As in the first time I had sushi I was skeptical and it was just meh. But Zing has totally changed my mind. I ordered the Gozilla and California rolls.OMG!!!!! I'm still tasting the Gozilla roll in my mouth. It was delicious and amazing. There were so many wonderful flavors going on that all melded together in my mouth in such a way that this meal will be memorable. To go with the sushi I ordered the Japanese plum wine. GET IT!! It's deliciously dry but has a very delicate plum taste. I could keep going on about this meal but all you need to know is visit and enjoy. We had Jay as our server. He was new and getting used to everything but he was extraordinarily helpful with our menu choices and assisted us with our take-home containers. I recommend coming here and try the sushi. Pair it with the Japanese plum wine. And it was a great experience for a husband who has much respect for Japanese culture and wanted me to experience it for myself!!! :)

greetings from Goshen, 1st visit, nicely impressed, food tasty, service prompt. clean restaurant, womans restroom very clean ! ( yeay ). 1 slight improvement kann be when serving a Couple, bring food out AT THE SAME TIME. seems a lot of places do this,... this is not cool. sitting there while your date or husband is already eating, ( men are hungry, they want to eat ) this is a no no. servers should not do this, ... other wise, we like this place, we will be back . thank you sue. you are nice, prompt & helpful with menu / drink questions. 1.37 pm / table B5 / 2.oct. 2014

I finally had a chance to go back and try again with another carry out order a few times. The last couple times, everything was packed perfectly. The hot food was separated from the sushi and when I got home, everything was still the correct temperature. I've almost ordered through the entire sushi menu by now and all have been very good so far. I would give them an extra star for awesome customer service though, because the people who work here are really super nice and they seem to really care about getting things right.

My husband and I had ordered takeout from Zing and liked it, so we were excited about taking another couple there for dinner on Friday. It was disappointing. The food was inconsistent and the service was poor. Food wise, some of the edamame was cold, some was warm, all was unseasoned and brown around the edges. My frjend's steak and lobster were cold. Our sushi was okay, but the texture seemed a bit uniform and mushy (I had thought the same about the takeout but attributed it to the car ride home). The crab rangoons and calamari (that no one remembers ordering- we each assumed one of the others had) tasted like grease. The service had us all giving each other quizzical looks throughout the meal. There were some timing issues that might have been the kitchen--my friend's cold steak and lobster came out several minutes ahead of everything else, then my friend's hibachi chicken came out, then our sushi came out several minutes later. One of the appetizers came out with the meal. I thought at first that the timing problem might be because the quarters were so narrow that it was difficult to carry large trays, but the delays between things being brought out was awkwardly long so that we had to urge the others to eat without waiting for us so their food didn't get cold(er). Other issues were with the server, who was polite but not attentive. He wordlessly delivered broth and salad to my husband and the other man in our party, but what went to my husband was actually to have gone to my female counterpart. He took a bite, assuming that maybe everyone received broth as a courtesy, but then no more was brought out for the ladies and we realized the error. The server also delivered food to the table without leaving utensils (for the steak and lobster guy), and one member of our party had to ask for a beer three times before receiving it. Refills on water were slow, and he hardly ever checked back with us to see if we needed anything. I like the atmosphere and the sushi's not bad; however, the service was so poor and everything was so weirdly out of sync that I doubt we'll return. That's something coming from me because I'm usually the one at the table defending slow service, pointing out that we chose a busy time, a server has several tables, or it's the kitchen's fault. This is disappointing because I had hoped and expected to love it and have a new place to become a "regular."

Great service! We ordered a variety of menu items. I was very happy with all of the menu choices. Unique choices for sushi choices! The lavender tea at the end was a great way to end the meal. Zing is a great restaurant in downtown Mishawaka. I will be back soon!

Man, I can't believe how bad this place was! From way overpriced, cute little dishes that have more wood and props than food in them, to a waitstaff that does not seem to know the menu or sushi dishes , this was the tragi-comic-est experience i have ever had! The waiter was a 1962 Jerry Lewis klutz type at best (without the timing), He did not even know what a quail egg was, let alone that Ikura are salmon roe with a raw quail egg on top of it (they didn't even have the quail egg ). I mean, this poor clown had to keep going to his manager to ask about just about everything except the soup. The portions were small, the service was slow, the management seemed pissed that we were not impressed with the food, actually, we were laughing our asses off within 15 minutes of getting there, they were so incompetent, it made me think of the Bush administration or Fox news....LOL...not a good place, a tourist trap, and a shoddy one at that.Worse than its sister store downdown, Woochi, another overpriced joke.
This was a very cute little Asian fusion restaurant. The lunch menu had more options than I expected I opted for the $12 bento box with salmon teriyaki. They start with a flavorful miso soup and a salad with creamy ginger dressing. I wish the salad was cut smaller. The pieces were too big to eat with chopsticks without making a mess. The salmon was a good portion, cooked perfectly, and smothered in thick teriyaki sauce. The broccoli, carrots, and onions were not al dente though, they were practically raw. The bento box also came with 1/2 a California roll that tasted fresh and was well rolled. The eggroll was too greasy for me, but came topped with a delicious spicy sauce. One cool thing is there is no upcharge for having fried rice instead of the standard white rice. Overall, it was a good experience and I would go again. One icky thing -- I asked for a side of eel sauce and it came with a side of random hair. :-/

Would give it 2.5 but could not justify 3. This is my third trip to Zings and it's changed. Had dinner there last night with a large party. (10) I ordered a glass of wine before dinner and found, like other restaurants, the pours are getting smaller. Large glasses but filled 25% @ $7 a pour. I would think you might get 8 pours out of a bottle at least, at that rate. Not worth the value in my opinion. That though is not what bothered me. The Food was good but not special. The service though was off the mark. We had communication problems with our waitress. She was very soft spoken and it created understanding issues which lead to an error.. The big thing though is that after appetizers, we waited some time for our entrees. Add to this that it took them 25min to serve the party complete from the first plate hitting the table. At the end of my dinner I was still hungry. I would have ordered a follow up item but didn't want to chance the wait. Had a hamburger at home. This place is unique but not sharp and it's lost it,s attraction for me. Cramped dining and Poor service out weighed the food attraction for me this night.

This is by far the best Asian restaurant in town. After living in Hong Kong, I was finding it difficult to get something authentic without driving to Chicago. But now you just have to travel to Mishawaka to get delicious, authentic cuisine! One of my favorites is the beef ramen soup. When most people think of ramen, they have no idea the depth of flavor in this bowl. The taste takes me straight back to the markets and noodle shops of Hong Kong. The broth is amazing and very comforting. I remember thinking the first time that $12 for a bowl of soup couldn't possibly be worth it, but my fiance ordered it and couldn't finish his bowl! And he's a good-sized guy! The sushi is fresh and you get a LOT for your money at Zing! Every penny we spend is absolutely worth it, and I can't wait to take my fiance back for a belated Valentine's dinner on Friday night. Bravo, Jeremy, for creating a masterpiece of a restaurant!

Went on a date here last night and it was both our first times visiting. The decor inside is great. The prices were very good and the food was amazing! My only complaint was the server we had was HORRIBLE. We ordered the Edamame to start and after waiting 20minutes she came out and said they were out of that. My date then ordered a salad that we never received and had to get taken off the bill. I ordered a sapporo and had to remind her that I ordered it. I tried ordering 2 more beers and then 2 sake bombs. She stared at me in obvious confusion and then returned with just 2 sake bombs and the guy who brought the sake bombs was AWESOME.I'm guessing he was the manager or owner. He told us not to pound too hard on the table so that it wouldn't break and the sake didn't drop the first time so he said to try a little harder haha. All In all, the place is amazing. Just hoping for a different server next time!!

I've heard great things about Zing and finally had the opportunity to try it for lunch last week. The restaurant is small, but nicely decorated. The placed filled up quickly for lunch. The menu is huge and they have a great selection of teas. I tried one of the green teas, which is served in an individual pot with a candle warmer to keep it nice and hot. My friend and I opted for the bento box lunches so we could try a few different things (chicken for her and steak for me). The lunches include miso soup (it was ok) and salad (cool, crisp with the traditional ginger dressing). The bento boxes were pretty good; however, the sauce for the chicken and steak was more like gravy than a sauce and a bit of an odd taste. The steak was overcooked (well done as opposed to medium), but it was still very tender and served on a bed of sauted onions. The lunches also included three pieces of a California roll and a spring roll - both were good, especially the spring roll. The bento boxes were priced a little high ($10 and $11) compared to other places, but did include a lot of food. I will definitely go back as my husband loves sushi and they have a great selection.

My husband and I love it here. The sushi always tastes fresh, their Pad Thai isn't the best I've ever had but SERIOUSLY out-does any other Thai restaurant in South Bend or Mishawaka. They let our enormous dog accompany us on the patio in their outdoor seating area and the servers are always friendly. We have enjoyed their tea, seaweed salad, spring rolls, veggie rolls and sweet potato rolls. We will keep going back, especially in nice weather!

This place is delicious and has over 100 dishes! I went right after they opened and tried a ton of yummy apps and sushi! They have awesome specials too: Mon: 15% off sushi, Tues: 15% off asian fusion dishes, Wed: (formerly Ladies night) 10% off wine night, Thurs: students get 15% off any item. Pretty awesome deals. A classic sushi roll is probably around $6-$9 and the special rolls will be around $14. They also have these awesome sushi platters that you can share with one other person or if you have a big group. Their teas are also delicious and come in the cutest clear teapot. I am a big fan of the veggie gyoza, fried sweet potato sushi roll, and japanese pancake. I also love their selection of wines - I'm a major moscato person so if you are into that the Australian moscato they have listed is only $5 a glass so a great deal! This is a small place but they also have outdoor seating and very good customer service - doesn't take long to get your food at all. Definitely a must!

The staff was very nice but the good was just okay. The prices are a little high for the amount of food you get. The sushi is average but the rolls are small. Soho in Granger is far better.

Very good sushi for the area! I have been previously disappointed with South Bend area sushi options, but Zing was great. the Amazing Roll lived up to its name, as did the Super Roll. I found the waitstaff to be very attentive and cared about making our dining experience great. Very good Miso soup (not TOO salty, good balance of flavors). I can't speak for their non-sushi entrees, but I would steer clear of the crab rangoon which was just a weird cream cheese fritter really. I give it an extra star for having our reserved (OpenTable) table ready when we arrived with a "reserved" sign on it. Thanks Zing!

The prices here are very reasonable. They are always prompt on take out orders, I don't remember ever having to wait too long. Their food presentation is excellent. It's kind of a small place inside, so it's much more enjoyable in the summer.

Though this place is in a not-so-incredible location, I really enjoyed it. The ambient was great, the staff was nice, and most importantly, the food was very fresh and tasty. We were very pleased to see the care they took on making our food look nice, all dishes had a very carefully arranged presentation. They offer a series of deals depending on the day of the week, so make sure to check that!

Not really impressed. Plenty of food since I ordered the bento box but not for the price. Sushi is small. Definitely Americanized Japanese food. Won't be back.

Ordered the spicy tuna (level 3) and salmon, cucumber, and avocado rolls. Both are bland in taste. The spicy tuna contain some fried pieces that make it seem less than fresh. Also, it is more mildly flavored than spicy. The salmon likewise has little flavor to it. Perhaps other rolls are better quality, but, on the basis of these two, would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.

Stopped in for takeout this evening, and everything I ordered was great! It's a pretty place and I look forward to coming back when I have time to stay for a meal. The man who took my order was helpful and friendly, and the order was ready in a very reasonable time. I'll be happy to come back.

Actually has a great location! Right on main st in Mishawaka downtown. Never have had a problem parking. This is a very hip place- love the way it is decorated! Delicious food and good service, with a nice atmosphere and good location. Today, my dad and I ordered carry-out for the first time to take over to the nearby river walk, and we were both impressed. I ordered the vegetarian Teriyaki Eggplant dish with Hot and Sour Soup and a Ginger Salad, and my dad got the Mango Madness roll with another ginger salad. I highly recommend the eggplant dish. Lots of flavor and the beautiful, miniature purple eggplants made it memorable. My dad said his mango roll was good, but I didn't try any. The total came to $35, which I don't consider over the top. We had enough food to share and take some home.

Very good. I'll definitely be back and I would highly recommend this place. Leo, my server, was helpful and on purpose. His tea recommendation was on point. The tea service was just lovely. I applaud them for having multiple tea choices! All the dishes I ordered were beautifully presented and very flavorful. Here's what stopped me from a 5 star rating. The wasabi had just the right amount of heat but also had a bitter taste. The tempura shrimp tasted like it was fried in old oil and the music would have been more suited to an old diner. Soft instrumental or even ethnic appropriate would have given the dining experience a boost. The price was commensurate with the quality and service.

A little bit pricey. Exactly same with Woochi but smaller. The sashimi was very fresh. U can always taste how fresh the fish is if it is raw. The service was pretty good and the waitress recommended the Chinese food too. Tried "pork" one, really different from normal Americanized chinese food. Very very tasty. Gonna visit here and Woochi more often when budget available or have something to celebrate.

This is my go to for Asian food. Every other Asian restaurant around this area pumps out the same food, the same choices, and all with about the same flavor. Zing has got me hooked. Great gyoza, superb sushi, excellent edamame. See what I'm doing here? I would run out of letters far before I ran out of praise for their food. Freshest fish I've had on sushi in years and some might complain that it is a little pricey, but to them I would say go elsewhere. Truly for the quality and the expertise on masterfully executing old classics and redefining them into new interpretations, the price cannot be beat. I highly recommend to any fan of sushi or Japanese cuisine.

We tried several apps/starters and all were very good. Excellent sake martinis. Pleasant service and atmosphere. Very nice outdoor patio. Only complaint is that they close at 9, or at least start cleaning up around you!

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

We had the chicken lo mein, general tso & they were good! We also had tuna rolls which were very fresh & delicious!

Great sushi!! The King Kong roll was amazing. The mango roll was good too but a little too sweet for me.

To keep this short and sweet, we had some excellent service, and the food was excellent (I had the pad Thai, which I thoroughly enjoyed and my fiancée loved his sushi). The seating arrangement seemed a little bizarre, it was mostly small tables and the space we sat was a bit crowded, but it didn't affect our experience much. We absolutely will be returning.

Yum! So good! In between casual and classy, this is a great little sushi restaurant. They have lots of non-sushi dishes as well, and it's very vegetarian-friendly.

The sushi was delicious! Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely recommend Zing and we will be back!!

Bravo, Jeremy, for creating a masterpiece of a restaurant!

love this place!!!! best sushi in michiana.

(5)Sarah L.
The staff was very nice but the good was just okay. The prices are a little high for the amount of food you get. The sushi is average but the rolls are small. Soho in Granger is far better.
(3)Maeve M.
(4)Chandrea O.
The prices here are very reasonable. They are always prompt on take out orders, I don't remember ever having to wait too long. Their food presentation is excellent. It's kind of a small place inside, so it's much more enjoyable in the summer.
(4)Everaldo A.
(5)Shelly S.
Not really impressed. Plenty of food since I ordered the bento box but not for the price. Sushi is small. Definitely Americanized Japanese food. Won't be back.
(3)Colleen M.

Disappointed in portions and price.

Stopped in for takeout this evening, and everything I ordered was great! It's a pretty place and I look forward to coming back when I have time to stay for a meal. The man who took my order was helpful and friendly, and the order was ready in a very reasonable time. I'll be happy to come back.
(4)Mary G.
A really fun atmosphere with great food. The tofu bento was fantastic along with the sushi. There is nothing bad there. Everything was perfect. The service is excellent too. I'll definitely be back.
(5)Rachel H.
This place is so good. You get so much food, and the taste is so fresh. They are open for lunch and dinner. For parties larger then 2, do call ahead. You will be happy you tried Zing.

Actually has a great location! Right on main st in Mishawaka downtown. Never have had a problem parking. This is a very hip place- love the way it is decorated! The staff is very friendly, the quality of the food great. There are so many unique shops and businesses in the downtown and this is one of them

Hip and yummiest

(5)Fran H.
(4)Zoe Z.
(4)Nick C.
(5)Sue B.
We tried several apps/starters and all were very good. Excellent sake martinis. Pleasant service and atmosphere. Very nice outdoor patio. Only complaint is that they close at 9, or at least start cleaning up around you!
