I was really expecting this place to be top notch. While the place is quaint and the ambiance is nice, it is quite small so reservations should be made. They only have 3 booths so be aware. The waitresses were pleasant, one more friendly than the other and I only saw 2 the night I visited. Now on to the food. I had the filet w/ wine reduction, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The steak was good but I felt it was rather chewy and for $28 dollars for a steak it should could out near perfect. My reduction was cold which I'm not used to so I'm not sure if that is how they serve it there? The veggies were over seasoned yet, crisp tender. My guests prime rib came back bloody even after asking they put it on the grill. I feel the steak should have been completely removed from the bill though they did reduce the cost significantly. My guest can't stand the sight of blood in her meat or it ruins her appetite and the waitress was aware of this fact before hand. The hummus was fabulous and I think warranted the price. The shrimp cocktail not so much. I had a wonderful mango martini. In all, I'm going to give them another try I think.

I love the atmosphere and attended Main Street for a special event. Its a smaller place, and $$$, so I suggest reservations. I was not disappointed by anything, but the venison. I dont like venison though, so I wasnt expecting much. Great event with tapas style plating and many delicious wines. I will go back, for sure. Service was also excellent. Thanks guys and Jay for hosting here.

What a great little place I discovered. Service was friendly. Food was fantastic. Drinks were perfect. Great ambience. When in Mishawaka, make it a point to eat here. Has the special: Cornish half hen. Perfect amount. Flavorful. Came with sautéed string beans and a side salad. Was too full to try dessert.

Sad to say that I didn't have a positive experience!! Their door and their website say they are open until 12 but it is 1114 and their doors are locked. I thought maybe it was an accident since I could clearyly see people enjoying their food and drinks inside. So, I called to ask if they were still serving guests because their sign says open but the doors are locked and we would like to come in. The person answering the phone said " Oh... uh...what are you guys wanting to do? Just come in for a few drinks?? I'm not at the restaurant right now... Are you guys right in front of the place??" I'm sorry but...really?? Does the number connect to your personal phone at home??? Lol :) I'd be WAY more accepting if she said something along the lines of "Usually we are open until midnight but tonight we are closing early due to slow business...kitchen caught on fire... we ran out of beer (some type of emergency like that)... but I hope you guys come back soon!!!" I wish she would have said SOMETHING.... Anything other than I'm not at the business location you just called. I was really looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere of this cool downtown spot.... and I think I will give it another shot.... I just hope I get a straight forward answer next time I call to make sure they are open!! :)

Absolute worst restaurant experience I can remember! Made dinner reservations well in advance for our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. We show up with 8 of our closest friends and... "we don't have any reservation for you." It was horrible and embarrassing and they "handled it" by not handling it at all. They kept asking if I knew the name of the person who took my reservation: like it was MY fault. Now, they did offer to "loan" us another party's table for almost an hour: wouldn't THAT have been a very special meal with friends! I doubt our food would have even been served before we were kicked out. Unbelievable. To make matters worse, the day I made my reservation they even called me back to confirm the number of people: and, per store policy, THEY TOOK MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO HOLD THE TABLE!! The "manager" swore she'd get to the bottom of it... of course she didn't bother to take my full name or phone number so that was just another lie. So now I have to cancel my credit card because God only knows who has my card number. Some folks say the food here is good: maybe as a walk-in only but you are a fool if you trust these people with a reservation, at least one for a special dinner. They are careless and irresponsible and you will very likely end up out on the street like we did. On the plus side, the good people at Woochie in South Bend heard our tale of woe and, even though they were fully booked, made special arrangements to properly accommodate our party on this very special night... with no stopwatch counting down the time (something Main St. Grille obviously couldn't be bothered to do). We had a great dinner at Woochie; we'll definitely be more regular customers there. And, of course, the 10 of us will never set foot in Main St. Grille again.

The only reason this meal received 2 stars was due to the nice wine and martini that started our meal. The house salad was yummy and flavorful as usual. After that the entre disappointed big time! Apparently the Main Street Grille changed the way they prepared their specialties and not in a good way. My husband & I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca which has been a fav of ours for many years. It is now a bone in chicken breast with absolutely no flavor. Bring back the original! The owner did comp our meal - which does speak for the quality of the owner. We'll probably be back but will check first to be sure changes have been made to return to the original recipe.

Ambience: From the outside it looked nothing more than one of the many old storefronts typical of main street Mishawaka, with just a slight hint that it was an operational restaurant. Stepping inside it was markedly more refined, with high quality yet simple and understated furniture and decoration. This was what I would call non formal fine dining, it was clearly above casual dining (Applebees type), yet it was not one of those coat-required places. It was close to the level of Ruth's Chris. The clientele when I visited were mostly older professional-looking folks, probably because it was a work night. Food and drink: I had one of their specialty cocktails, and it was excellent. For my entree I picked the skirt steak, and it was superb. The different flavors were nicely balanced to create a coherent meal, yet each ingredient (in my case beans, onions, and skirt steak) was still prepared to its full potential. It was carefully and beautifully plated, as you would expect from a fine dining establishment. I was thoroughly satisfied. Service: The lady who served me was clearly experienced. She had the demeanor and knowledge appropriate for a fine dining restaurant, so she was able to (and did) provide excellent service. Value: You can't provide this level of experience for cheap. Each entree will set you back in the range of 20-30 dollars. However, in my opinion the price is worth it. I've paid similar kind of money and gotten less quality and service. You can pay similar amount at the restaurant literally next door to it (Doc Pierce's) and still not approach the level of Main St. Grille. It easily rivals Ruth's Chris while costing considerably less. Rating: All things considered it deserves five stars. While it's not the best bang for your buck, I've had worse. It has the hallmark of a professional chef that cares about all aspects of the dining experience. Definitely good enough to bring your business colleagues over.

A beautiful and intimate space with exposed brick walls, Main St Grille delivers an all around wonderful experience. Tonight, I had the Barramundi with Chorizo, Spinach, and Corn. It was prepared perfectly! Flaky and flavorful. Right now, they are featuring a Pinot Noir that is reasonably priced and benefits pet adoption, a great cause. I plan to return soon and leave room so that I am also able to enjoy one of their desserts, which all sounded delicious. Last but not least, my party and I also appreciated their prompt, polite, and not overly intrusive service. I am excited to return and try more of what Main St Grille has to offer.

Always a good beer selection and you will enjoy whatever you order off of the menu. Chef Mat Ewing kills it in the kitchen.

Loved this place! Very unexpected Gem! Waitress was great, Food was fantastic, ambiance was nice for romantic dinner. We started with the Dip trio Yum! I had the Cowboy ribeye steak cooked perfect, season very well. My wife had the rack of lamb, again cooked perfect very tasty, but no mint sauce, Oh well she liked it anyways. Full bar and they know how to pour a drink. Like I said Loved this place. We will return here again on our yearly Christmas shopping trip. Cheers!

This is my favorite place to lunch when in Mishawaks. The Beef dip sandwich is divine and the Au Jus has a peppery almost burnt taste (but it is good). Also the first place I saw sweet potato fries, which my sis enjoys, but I am a purist, I like my fries white and plain.

I was pleasantly surprised with this downtown Mishawaka restaurant. It's got a bit of hip and bit of the Indiana charm, right in the heart of town. I wasn't expecting a sophisticated menu or an extensive and impressive wine list. But that's what they had! Loved the fun art on the exposed brick walls, along with the wine bottles lining the shallow wall shelves. The restaurant is actually quite original and trendy compared to the other national chain restaurants in the area. I really enjoyed my dinner. The Pecan Crusted Walleye was excellent. It came highly recommended and I don't normally order fish (unless it's sashimi) but it really was delicious. Loved all the appetizers, too! My favorites were the Baked Brie and the Tenderloin Satay. With the flowing wine, great company and delicious food, I had a wonderful time at the Main Street Grille! Like I said, I was pleasantly surprised at this "casual but upscale restaurant".

My husband & I were here once before. We had a fairly good experience, except for the fact that my husbands pork chop meal was overdone. He of course didn't eat it but boxed it up--we paid full price for this. NEVER saw a manager. We thought we'd give the place another try (I had reservations about this). Environment was loud. My husband & I couldn't hear each other talk-I had to lean over the table. I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca & he ordered the rack of lamb. We live for a GOOD meal and was expecting the best. We ordered a nice bottle of wine to pair with our meal, expecting we were going to have a lovely meal. Well, the chicken breast was overdone & very had to chew. It was not very flavorful. I refused to eat it & had them take the meal away. The rack of lamb was well done. Who orders rack of lamb WELL DONE? It was tasteless & a very skimpy portion size for the money. The presentation was awful. It actually looked like 4 wooden chips on the end of lolly pop sticks. All the food was luke warm. My husband wanted to be politically correct & asked to have his lamb boxed up. When the waitress came back to the table I advised we would not be paying over #30 to take that meal with us, so she took that boxed meal away from us. There was an offer to make us another meal, but it was already 9:30 pm..we didn't want to wait for another meal to be prepared. At this point, there was a lull in our service. Then all of a sudden a gentleman shows up wearing jeans & leans in to our table & in a negative tone of voice says "I heard you had a problem with the bill." We advised there was no problem with the bill (mind you, we hadn't even received the bill yet). We advised the problem was with the food. There was no apology or offer to remedy the situation. We advised we would pay for what we had consumed thus far & received our bill. The gentleman never introduced himself....I assumed he was the manager or owner????? He was so concerned when he left us that he returned to his seat at the bar. We have dined out at many fine dining establishments without regard to the cost with an expectation that we would have a wonderful & memorable dining experience. Boy was this place a major disappointment. The place is obviously about the money and not the food or experience. If you want a good meal, PLEASE DO NOT GO TO MAIN ST GRILLE, You will be disappointed. Go to Navarre Place, Corndance, Ruth's Chris, LaSalle Grill, Temper Grille, Siam, Bonefish Grill....etc. You could even go to Just about anywhere else your heart desires just PLEASE don't go to the Main Street Grill. We will never go there again.

Celebrated the 30th anniversary with friends at the Main Street Grill. This restaurant had lovely ambiance and bar. Food presentations is just like "downtown". However service was painfully slow even with the restaurant being less than half full on a Saturday night. Waitresses were sitting chatting while our lone server brought two plates out at a time. She sure could have used some help to speed up delivery but none came. Food other than the sweet potatoes was Luke warm. If the kitchen and the wait staff could get their act together this could be a 5 Star restaurant, but they need some work.

Tasty food, Yummy Drinks (That Bubblegum Martini. Oh.My.God. ), and great service. My salad was tasty and made as I asked ( I am picky about my veggies) , and my steak was hot and tasty. I ate every bite! The decor is really interesting, and it is quite literally tucked away. Very fun hangout! Definitely try it out!

An unexpectedly good restaurant tucked away in downtown Mishawaka. Cheerful, attentive, impeccable service; the trio of dips always delights. The Brie en croute is mouthwatering. The chicken bacon teriyaki is a favorite. Never had a bad bite but always Decadently delicious. The wine list features many crisp and refreshing whites. Cocktails are creative and strong. Unique ambience for St Joe county - vraiment comme un bistro Parisien.

My parents discovered this place when they were in town visiting once and bought us a gift card for a dinner out for a gift . Because I seem somehow unable to admit to liking anything that my parents do, we went one night, spent the gift card, and didn't go back for three years. However, a couple years ago we were looking for an upscale bar to meet friends in before an event and I remembered this place. Since then, we've stopped by the bar once every month or so for drinks. I absolutely love the cocktail selection. There truly is something for everyone and the bartenders are great. While we usually just have drinks, the food is creative and delicious. The ambiance is also really nice. I recommend it for date night, girls night, when visitors (including parents) are in town... anything.

One of the best Reubens I've ever had and it's not even corner beef!
