Decent food, though the last time I was there they were out of more than 10 different things. I thought this was odd. Service has never been an issue. It's a pretty standard meal in the South Bend area. Oh - one recommendation is the their delicious dip. It's a sour cream and onion type dip that is fantastic with the waffle fries.

Big Show Burger was awesome. Only carrying their own beer seems limiting but that's kind of a plus because it forces me to choose based on style rather than on who brewed it. Makes me see the way their brewer is interpreting a certain style.

Overpriced and the food wasn't very good. The one bright spot was the beer cheese dip.

Food and service was excellent! Beers were great! Prices are reasonable. More upscale feel, but casual enough to bring small children.

Our first date. Our first choice to go place. Friendly staff. Great food. Great eating environment. They always make us feel at home. We've made a lot of friends there . My favorite dishes are the adult bock Mac and cheese. Asparagus linguine with chicken. The small chocolate chip cookie. And the chocolate cake with bourbon sauce. The bacon flatbread is awesome. The unique beers are great. The Sunday brunch keeps us going back over and over. They have had a change of managers in a year. But, now things are back up to par, not that it was that bad. But, I think that might be where some of the reviews came about. I prefer this place over any place in south bend or Mishawaka. My finance loves the fish tacos and the salmon dinner and both desserts I mentioned. His favorite beer is the bluebarian. We know most of the staff by name. Thank you for making our dates nights and date days like the first time every time. We love you. Oh I forgot..... To be exact it's been a year and half eating here. We just ate here 3 days straight this Labor Day week end. Each meal was delicious!!!! I ate there on 9/1/15 for brunch. Where do these ppl get their info. I'm a picky eater. It's good food, Geesh !!

So the only reason I am giving this place three stars is because the food was fantastic. I had half slab of ribs, my wife had salmon, family member had the rib eye. And the batch 1000 IPA was awesome. Here is where it went wrong. No one is running the show. All of our food came out individually at different times. Manager seemed apologetic to a certain point. Our server was new and it showed. Guys team work. That's all you need. When I see wait staff and hostess standing around at the front that tells me your tables aren't getting taken care of. Train your wait staff, and this place would be a winner that could be a contender to any downtown Chicago place. Keep up what I saw tonight guarantee this place will be out of business in 6 months, especially at the prices they are charging.

One of our favorite places to eat at. It's located in the mall. Ambience is casual dining. The prices are okay. Great menu. I really love the ribs. However, there were times that they are not tender/fall off the bones. My husband always order the buffalo chicken wrap. We're just disappointed at how inconsistent they could be every time we eat here. Sometimes, there's too many vegetables in the buffalo wrap. Fries change as well. We like the thin fries better. They do not have a senior menu available. Portions are large that you could almost split them for 2 or have a carry out with you. We recommend the meatloaf, adult Mac and cheese, ribs, buffalo wrap, fish tacos, Mediterranean chicken, sirloin, London broil, bbq flat pizza, and prime rib sandwich. The bar is open too so they can mixup anything you're in the mood for.

Came in for dinner on a Tuesday after work. Had to wait a good a bit for service. But once they came the customer was great. I had the salmon Oscar, side salad, and the northerner beer and all were tasty. The waiter forgot to enter my meal with the hollandaise sauce on the side. But they quickly corrected the situation. He apologized and took ownership of his mistake and then the manager brought out my corrected plate and apologized as well. If you are a beer drinker, they have great options. Next time I come...which there will be a next :) I think I'll try the happy hour specials!

Got the Asian chicken salad and was disappointed with the complete lack of chicken. They made up for it by drowning it in dressing. Sorry, but I would rather not drink my salad. Luckily the beer was pretty decent. Enjoyed the flight, which was decently priced and ended up coming with two extra samples. Followed it up with a Black and Tan. Average experience.

Granite City has the best Asian chicken salad I have ever had. Cucumbers, won tons, etc, served in a large bowl. I also recommend the pretzels.

I had a crush on this place when it first opened 5 or so years ago. Now, I won't go there. The food is pretty good, if you have the lunch or dinner stuff. I made the mistake of going to the saturday brunch once (UGH) , and 2 weeks later the Sunday brunch, even worse. The waitress we had seemed to be fighting with her manager, or some kinda cheesy drama. The food was not worth the $15, the eggs were cold and hard the omelet station was lame and half-hearted, and you had to ask for a piece of roast beef/ prime whatever the hell it was very specifically, otherwise you just got a sliver.Kinda like at Sorins on Notre Dame campus. The beer, I found out, is actually NOT brewed inhouse; rather a concentrate is sent in and they add water to it. Yeah, can you believe that crap? Nah, they are a chain operation that seemed to want to achieve a higher mark than most (profit) , but it is just another American sham.Save your money. Buy local.Like Corndance, or Cafe Navarre.Too pricy for the service.

For what I would call a chain microbrewery or a "mall microbrewery" this place was pretty decent. They had a selection of beers that is better than some of the places that we like to go to and their food was above par for sure. We started with a beer sampler which was priced so cheap that we had to confirm with the bartender that it was really that price. It kind of feels like an upscale Applebee's but 10x better and with house made beer. The bartender was super cool and gave plenty of recommendations for other cool places in the area when we told her we weren't from the area. The one reason this place doesn't get five stars is the manager was a real dud without a personality to match the liveliness of the bartender and the fact that he literally stood around while the waitstaff ran their butts off serving customers. That and the parking situation at the mall was horrible, which shouldn't be a reflection of the place... But it has to be taken into account for the overall experience. We will be back!

Bartender was awesome and knew his stuff. Got the pretzals which was great and the beer sampler. Pricing was good.....beer was ok. Nice mix of stuff though

I have been to this location a few times and so far the food was very good. The flatbread appetizers (or a meal) was amazing! The pork chops were great as well! The only complaint I would have when ordering a burger or steak - no matter how you liked it cooked - just expect it to not to be the way you ordered it. I had to ask both times to cook it a little longer and it still was under cooked - it was like they took it back and didn't do anything. The ribeye with bleu cheese is amazing and the green beans with almonds are incredible. If you are a dessert person and don't want to get too much - they have smaller deserts and the brownie was very good! UPDATE: they have a mini chocolate chip cookie with ice cream that is amazing! I joined the rewards program and it is really good. After a few visits you get a $10 voucher for the next time you go.

Good food, great service. Our server was great when we asked for suggestions and was very helpful in her overall service. My husband and I came here on a Monday so I'm not absolutely sure how busy it gets on the weekend. But it seems like our server was very knowledgable of the different drinks and beer that they served there, so it was very helpful in making our selections.

From the time we walked in the staff was friendly. We were seated quickly for a Saturday night. Our server was helpful in suggesting different craft beers. The flying monkey cocktail was very good. Everything we ordered was great. We left full and feeling good. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

I had lunch with my friends and we were seated in the bar area not by our choice. As soon as we did NOT order booze his attitude declined. I ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich and instead of au jus they served it with gravy. He never returned until after our food was gone to fix it... The Idaho Nachos were amazing, but get it with no scallions...

Lunch yesterday was worse than disappointing. After waiting a long time, we asked a server (not ours, who was mostly invisible) to check on our order. We learned it had not been submitted to the kitchen. We reluctantly chose to wait, with assurance it would get attention. Finally began to eat after being there almost 1 1/2 hours. Eventually got our check, which I wound up signing for with one of the kid's crayons when server left it without a pen and then disappeared again. Been there before, but won't return.

Chill little spot that is attached to the mall. Surprisingly upscale for being at the mall. I can only rate the beer from this place. The stout was tasty but lacked the body that I enjoy but was still a good beer. The octoberfest was my favorite of the beers that I tried here. Next time I'm in the area I'm going to try the food and probably several more beers!

I like to review a place soon after my experience so that I remember every detail. I had to step away and cool down before I could compose myself to write anything that would be even like a fair review without wanting to throw an F-bomb in every three words...this place absolutely infuriated me to the core . We stopped here on a Tuesday evening for a birthday dinner for my 10yo daughter. The service was beyond slow for a Tuesday night. (Slow service is a slight annoyance that I can live with-I've been in the service industry myself and hey, haven't we all had those slow kinda days?) My daughter and I promptly placed our order for 2 bowls of their 'soup of the day-chix noodle' and their Idaho nachos w/onions & tomatoes on the side. Not a difficult order IMO. I also inquired about their beers and being unfamiliar with their brews, the waitress was kind enough to bring me two samples so I could order. The soup order came out first and was wrong. No big deal. But when my daughter started eating her soup and said 'mom, this soup tastes funny' I brushed it off as her just being picky and told her to eat it while I waited for them to bring me my order of chix soup. When I got my order, I realized my daughter wasn't being picky and it did indeed taste funny. But what really irked me about the order was that the 'noodle' part of the chix noodle soup was crunchy. Seriously?! It's the soup of the day and the noodles aren't cooked? It's not like we ordered soup on a day when it was 90 degs out-it was a good, cool soup evening. No excuse. I informed our waitress that the noodles weren't done, she took the soup and said she would see about removing it from the bill. So by this point we were hungry and looking forward to our nachos. When the nachos came, I just shook my head in disbelief. The waitress asked what was wrong and then I asked her to look at what she brought us...nachos loaded with onions and tomatoes. I suggested we just pick them off but my daughter was disappointed because there were so many she didn't think she could enjoy the meal she really was looking forward to for her birthday. So away the nachos go and yet again we wait for the order we originally placed. When the nachos finally came and we dug in, my daughter found some weird unidentified fried grizzly thing and asked what it was. Not knowing myself, I just removed it from the plate and told her to enjoy her nachos. I then came across another unidentified 'thing' in the plate of nachos. One rando thing I can maybe handle...two? I think not and wonder what the hell we are eating at this point. I ask for a manager. He comes over and asks what the issue is. I explain our experience and then ask him to identify the things we found in the nachos-even he did not know! Then he said it could be bacon. I pointed out the bacon on the nachos, 'this is bacon, this is bacon, this is bacon...that is NOT bacon'. I was flabbergasted. I told him I wanted to leave the restaurant asap and for him to take care of this. He came back and handed me a bill for a beer I ordered but didn't drink. I COULD NOT believe the audacity of that manager after having such a terrible experience at his restaurant that he tried to charge me for a beer I didn't even drink. WOW! It really wasn't about the money, I could have bought that beer and plenty more- it was the principal of the matter. How can an establishment fail so miserably and then hand someone a bill for a drink they couldn't even consume? I wish we had a better experience at this place...the waitress was kind enough to bring a sample of the beer and I was really looking forward to it. This place needs to retrain their staff, their management and get some quality control in the kitchen asap. I give granite city a 5 BLECK rating!

This place is VERY irregular in its performance. + Lovely interior, very nice outdoor seating + The beer is tasty and unique + The staff of all sort were very nice, almost sweet to us. + The food was tasty. - OMG. We liked it so much we went back on our second night - Service was S L O W. Easily 45 minutes after ordering before any food showed up. - We had a party of seven. One ordered vegan, a second ordered a well done burger. - Instead of vegan there was cheese in the salad she ordered. - instead of well done got rare, sent back, got rarer. Waitress assured us the items would be taken off the bill. Well of course. - manager showed up and was apologetic, but the waitress didn't seem well versed on damage control. we DID receive coupons to make up, and of course, the items sent back were NOT on the bill. - Overall feeling: the waitress was not well trained on what was in their dressings, and did not come back to try to cheer us along when the service was slow. Training by all seemed lacking. The first night we went I asked why the place was called "Granite City" restaurant and our hostess said she didn't know. A summary of why is the first thing inside the cover of the very elegant menu. GET CONSISTENT GCR!

Beer is good and food is decent for this region. It's smoke free. What would be worth 2-3 stars in the PacNW gets 4 in Michiana

Our waitress was super nice, nice to try a couple beers before ordering one. I actually loved the turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes. The turkey had a flavorful aioli spread and the potatoes were garlicky with fresh chives on top. In my group someone commented that their turkey burger was not good and another person liked the chicken macaroni dish. So maybe don't get the turkey burger, it was dried out and not flavorful but some of the other meals are good.

We can't believe we haven't checked in or written a review! We went here only once because the turkey burger just wasn't appetizing to us. It's a nice place, good service, but food was mediocre.

I have been here quite a few times and it has always been a good experience. Their beer is great. They have a nice selection of always on tap brews along with rotating seasonal selections. On top of that they have a nice selection of cocktails. With that said there selection of food is nothing to talk about. Your normal Americany fair but they have a FANTASTIC Sunday brunch buffet. Guys, why would you ever say no to prime rib, pancakes and a mimosa? You would be a fool.

Good food, relaxing atmosphere and decent stout beer. Disappointing service as the wait staff serving a group of 18 would shout "who order the ..." when delivering the food and drinks.

Good food and service. Decent Bloody Mary, delicious maple bacon flat bread pizza. As an out of towner, the only bad part is it's a pain to get back on the highway.

In response to Caroline M. on 4/13/15 from South Bend, I'd like to share something with you. Caroline, I've been going to Granite City regularly for some time now. I was in the bar while you created the scene you spoke of and I even heard part of your rant, so allow me to enlighten you. I'm sure at some point in your life you've made a mistake. For example; stating that you're a well educated woman in a mile long poorly written review could constitute a mistake, am I right? I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter if you're white or black, its just a universal fact that stupid people exist in all races. Hell, I've made mistakes! Please, let's bury the race card and call it what it is; stupid. Ask yourself why I'd continue going to Granite City if I was getting cheated? Do you honestly think people like getting screwed every weekend for several years? Allow me to rephrase... do you think businesses keep customers coming back in by overcharging only black people? Or white People? No, they don't. That's just stupid and I think we're seeing a pattern. Now allow me to agree with you on something. Sarah is a very good waitress and bartender and she's entertaining at times with her responsibilities. I'm glad to hear she treated you well. I've been served many times by Amanda as well, and never once has she overcharged me. In fact, I can assure you that Amanda would never deliberately overcharge anyone. She's been one of the most enduring and consistent bartender/ waitresses I've known, which is why I agree with Aaron when it comes to defending the employees. I also think it's a very good trait for a manager to steadfastly defend their employees and I believe Aaron was more than within his right do so. You're a well educated woman right? Did your education teach you people skills? I'm curious because I'd like to know where exactly you learned that creating a scene over 7 or 8 dollars (which was refunded to you) meant you got a passing grade. Also, do you apologize for something you're accused of before investigating? I doubt it. That would be stupid. I mean what if you're not guilty? So under the circumstances, if you were refunded your money and that was your main concern, what exactly is the issue? Are you entitled to something more? Better yet, if it was such a horrible experience, why would you want more? See, none of your actions support logic. Logic typically exists behind education. Education is what you pride yourself with in your review, but you seem illogical to me. In fact, having to sit there and watch you complain while Aaron did everything to appease you took a lot of willpower. I would have gladly paid you to leave myself. I'm not sure how complaining about a business by making your personal business everyone else's business makes business sense? That's stupid. Where did you get your education? The reality is, (in my opinion) you wanted something more and you didn't get it. You got the same thing you left Amanda, but you know what the difference is? Amanda didn't create a scene. She didn't throw your drink in your face or complain to Aaron about being stiffed. She just did her job and like she always does, she did it with class. You see Caroline, that's something that usually begins an education. Have you ever thought about why they call it a 'class' room? I personally like Granite City. That's not to say I haven't had poor times, but I've never been treated unfairly. I do hope you get your phone call, only this time instead of having the police help you understand, it's the teachers you paid for your education.

Just a quick one, as I'm drunk on.... you guessed it, Granite City beer. This is reviewing only their beer, for the record. A friend and I ducked out to grab a pair of growlers for the evening's entertainment and wound up sampling a few beers before we decided on a selection. The Duke of Wellington IPA opens with a floral, hoppy scent, followed by a lighter but still hoppy and malty flavor, and a mildly bitter aftertaste. A decent, if ordinary, IPA. The Wag's Wheat Beer is a bit on the bitter side for a wheat beer, while still managing to be mildly citrusy. Again, good but completely ordinary. Finally, the Northern Light Lager is both light and moderately creamy, producing a pleasant summer beer. For a lager, this one is on the flavorful side, with a little bit of grain entering the palate. Not bad, not entirely conventional too. Overall, a 3-star rating seems in order. Prices for on-tap pints are pretty out there for this area, but the Tuesday-Thursday growler deal isn't bad ($20 to buy and fill, $6.75 to fill). Pending the results of tomorrow's excursion to Four Horsemen, I suspect there are better places to buy beer around South Bend, but this is hardly a disaster.

This is the first time I have been to one of these, and it was mediocre. I had the chopped salad with clam chowder soup and I think the soup was a bit tastier than the salad. The soup had tons of clams in it and was super creamy. The salad was nice, but I felt it was almost a little too salty. I couldnt put my finger on it, but it was too much something. They brew their own beer on site, but I didnt try one, I've heard they are good though. If you're in the area I would check it out, but I dont think I would go out of my way to come here.

I went here on a Wednesday night and was shocked to hear there was a 30-45 minute wait. Since I was out of town on business, I just stopped in by myself, so I decided to eat at the bar. Even though the place was packed I got instantly served. They had a great pitcher special where pitchers were $7.50. That ends up being cheaper than two pints. They had just tapped the Oktoberfest kegs, so I was eager to try. The beer itself was extremely good. It had a hoppy taste like many of the good German brews. I had the the GC Walleye Dinner. It was delicious. The fish was lightly breaded and fresh. You can tell the fish was not pre-made as the fish itself was fresh and the breading was light and hand breaded. The staff was extremely nice as well. Since I was by myself I started to chat it up with the bartenders. Even though they were busy when I sat down they still took the time to have a conversation. They just weren't running about making drinks as fast as possible. I was even more shocked when the manager came up to me and asked how everything, then just started to make small talk with myself and the other people around me. Overall, it was a great experience.

I've become a big fan of Granite City! We stopped in on our first night in town and joined their mug club on the spot! Our server, John, was attentive in a non-annoying way and made great suggestions. We ordered the mussels (excellent, some of the best we've had... made in a garlic tomato sauce with expertly grilled toast to accompany them) and their Salmon (which we'd mentioned we were splitting... so John took the liberty of splitting them for us, on two plates... nice touch that I didn't expect from a "brewery"). My only complaint was that our mussels (appetizer) and salmon (entree) came out simultaneously... so our salmon got a little cold (but was still excellent). On a separate occasion we tried the prosciutto pizza and it was TO DIE FOR! Their food is REALLY good. We tried their Hefeweizen, Bock & Octoberfest (all 3 were excellent, but Octoberfest was our fave). The beers are 20oz for $3.50 and if you join the mug club you get standard 25oz pours for the same price (plus 10% off your total bill). John got us signed up for mug club and since we didn't get our "club" pours... he gave us a card for a free 25 oz beer each on our next visit. Granite City has some great specials (including $6 pitchers & 1/2 price pizzas) nearly everyday/time of the week. They also have a Sunday brunch that is supposed to be awesome... I'll have to get back to you on my review. With fabulous good service, money saving specials, excellent craft beer and mouthwatering food... I recommend Granite City, completely.

Lunch service: sucky sucky. Slow (like Sunday-driver from MI slow)... Dinner service: top notch! Quick and easy. :o) I've been here for lunch and dinner, multiple times, and lunch has always been a disappointment. The food is generally yummy. :o) The truffle fries are *amazing* and delish. :o) Waitstaff are super helpful and friendly.

Went there first for lunch and although the food wasn't bad the beers were undrinkable. We went back for the brunch buffet and had to wait 20 for a table even though there were multiple tables empty just not cleared. Our server didn't come over for 10 mins. Took our drink orders and it took another 10 mins for coffee. Then our mimosas didn't come until we were done eating. The brunch wasn't great. The bacon was good everything else was cold or hadn't been refilled. We will not be returning.

Amazing service and food!! We came here to support our out of state football team and were greeted with respect. The manager/owner is an amazing guy, he was very attentive and provided wonderful food. If I lived here, I would eat here often. Their IPA is pretty good too, not as good as NW beer but pretty good.

Food is usually great and service is decent. South Bend/Mishawaka doesn't offer too many great dining choices, but Granite City is always reliable. The BBQ Chicken Flatbread pizza is pretty yummy. I really like their special menu, where you can choose an appetizer and two entrees for a set price.

Granite City is a hit or miss for me but I keep going because my friend loves their burgers. I had the honey rosemary filet and it was just ok. I have had their pizzas and they too are just ok. Thin crust and do not warrant the price. The spinach and artichoke dip, however, is wonderful and you get two choices of bread for the dip to choose from which I think is a nice touch. The reason for the two stars is the desserts are WAY OVERPRICED. Seriously? If you charge more for the desserts than say La Salle Grille, it better be phenomenal! We shared the cream cheese chimi dessert and it was DISGUSTING. They give you 4 small pieces and one scoop of ice cream w/ caramel sauce for 8 bucks! The ice cream however was good. Hacienda's cream cheese straws or whatever they are called are way better and are only 1.99 for one! The cactus rose margarita is to die for so go when they have them half off. 8 bucks for a margarita is steep but this is so good I can't help myself but to pay the steep price. The beer of course is great. Stars reflect on food only and the poor service we had that night from the waitress. I have yet to try this place for brunch so we'll see how that goes for next time.

Everything about the decor looked great and our original server seemed really outgoing and knowledgeable. We had to move because someone in my party wasn't 21 and they sat us in the bar area without letting us know we weren't allowed to sit there under-age. When we arrived at our original table, we sat down and at least 10 minutes went by without any server coming to our table. She came and took our drink orders (waters mind you) and we waited another 10 minutes and still had no beverages. They weren't even busy which makes it worse. That was my first time ever trying GC and I never even got to take a bite of the food before we walked out after waiting 15 minutes + and had zero appetizers or drinks. I won't be trying GC anytime soon again.

    (1)
  • Debbie L.

My husband and I had been shopping and visited GC for a beer and an appetizer. We put our name on the list for a table in the bar area and waited about 10 minutes. We were finally seated and then sat and waited and waited for a server to take our order. We had to ask a busboy to find our server. Our server finally came to our table and we ordered 2 beers and pretzel sticks with cheese. After another 10 minutes or so our appetizer was delivered and we didn't even have our beer. Apparently we did not look thirsty! We did get our drinks eventually, enjoyed our pretzels, asked for our check and got out of there. I don't appreciate being made to feel overlooked and demanding on top of it. We should not have to beg for the great honor of being served. Next time we are at the mall we will walk over to Bar Louie's instead. Thanks anyway GC.

I went here with friends to have a surprise baby shower and lunch. I can't say enough good things about the service the accommodations, and our funny and helpful waitress . They gave us a large table in a private area and let us take as much time as we wanted without rushing us. In addition, they provided us plates for the dessert we brought in from outside. Who allows THAT anymore?? The food was great, as always. This restaurant's management understands marketing. I'll be back, as will the 10 others with me. It was a perfect spot for a celebration. Thanks G.C. And WELL DONE!

I think people give this place 4-5 stars only because they like the drinks and atmosphere. Anyone who thinks they have great food really shouldn't be allowed to review here. You have to believe me when I say the food is CRAP. The past two times we have been here, I was extremely disappointed. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich last night and I was so pissed, I almost made the waitress take it back. If I weren't with a large group, I would have done just that. And I should have taken a picture and posted it to this website. When I think of a buffalo chicken sandwich, I think of very tender chicken breast oozing with buffalo sauce. Well, not at Granite City. My chicken breast was grilled, and it was very flat and very, very stiff. And DRY SAUCE. Not one inch of it contained wet sauce, and I am not exaggerating! Imagine a buffalo chicken sandwich with powdered sauce rubbed into it. I was pissed, and I am pissed still thinking about it because there was NO FLAVOR. And then they try to make it look all fancy and presentable on the plate as if I just ordered some sort of gourmet quality sandwich. What a joke. Their french fries are the small shoe-stringed type. And do NOT order the nachos, those things were soggy and gross. This place is waaaay overpriced and you will leave feeling disgusted, bloated, and poor. If you want a family outing, avoid this place. You'll only be back here to write a scathing review.

Update: Our overcharge was taken care of shortly after the third and last conversation with the manager. Because of the hassle we went through to get the overcharge credited back to our account, he also sent us a generous gift card. We have been back a few times with no problems, just good food and service. So as stated in my earlier review, I'm upgrading them to five stars.

Granite City, as others have said, is hit and miss. I've no complaints about the food or the service - both are quite good. The breakfast buffet is pretty fancy and not to be missed. The locally brewed beer they tout so highly is nothing to write home about, however.

Have been here twice and was extremely pleased both times. Have had both the Bleu Peppercorn and the Bedda Chedda burger and they were amazing. The Bedda Chedda comes with a PILE of shredded cheese on top. Had their bock style beer and it was great. Resonable prices and good specials. Highly recommended.

Great food and reasonable prices. Great beers (try the Duke!). Service friendly but is a little slow but we weren't in a hurry.

Always love eating here! Good, different food. Love eating outside here when the weather is nice. Sometimes the service is slow though.

The wife and I stopped in recently for a few beers and dinner. It was a Friday night so I expected to wait for our apps and dinner and that the waiter would take a few extra minutes longer to get to us. I was amazed that this was not the case, out apps and food came our quickly (almost too quick we had barely finished our app when the food arrived) and the waiter was attentive and checked in on us almost every time he went by our table. The only downside to the waiter was that he pushed so much for us to join their "mug club" and buy a growler that it got a bit annoying, but I understand that it is their job to mention it, just wish he wasn't so pushy about it. The food was pretty good. I got the pork chops and the wife went for the tortellini (sp?). My chops were cooked to chop perfection, and the BBQ glaze they put on them wasn't too sweet or too spicy. My sides were just ok, the mashed potatoes were mediocre at best, but the coleslaw was one of the better I have ever had. While I didn't try my wife's tortellini she commented that it was good, but would have liked to have less grease in the sauce. The beer was disappointing. The three I tried showed very little in common with their brew families (IPA, Bock, and Dark Wheat). The IPA wasn't as hoppy as a traditional IPA. The bock didn't have a traditional amber beer flavor. And the Dark Wheat was too muddy or dirty, but my wife did comment that was the best one I got, probably to do with the very light flavor of a wheat beer. I went ahead and settled on the American Lager beer for my drink of the night, and I must say that I could have ordered a Budweiser and been happier. If not for the beer I would have given 4 stars, but when you tout yourself as a brewery the beer better be damn good, and it was not.

I went to Granite City this weekend for a business meeting. I ordered a 7&7 and the bartender had to look up how to make it. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't watch her look it up in her book! Unbelievable. At least we got a good laugh Slow service as well.

This should be a dinner destination if you are shopping at UP Mall. A great bar atmosphere where both bartenders introduce themself by name. I view this kind of introduction as extraordinary but welcome. Quality house beers are on tap. Granite City has great food and better service. I frequent the Fort Wayne location and experience the same result.

This place is above-average, particularly as a chain restaurant. Granite City positions itself as an upscale brewpub. Their own brew are pretty good, ranging from a lager to a heavier brews such as a bock and a stout. They also offer seasonal brews. If you're in their Mug Club, you get discounts on food and beer, as well as invites to beer tapping parties for their seasonals. The menu ranges from sandwiches and salads to steaks. Their Saturday- and Sunday-morning brunches are high in quality and a good value.

Woah! What a find! We went in for a quick birthday cocktail last Friday and were greeted warmly by the bartender who promptly asked us our names and offered us samples of their homemade brews, which were quite delicious! I went with a blueberry beer mixed with one of their other beers and mmm yummy! Friendly service, good beer, fantastic decor. It was so good we decided to try their Sunday brunch ($15, all you can eat). When we came in on Sunday alot of the same staff was there...and get this, remembered two out of the three names in our party! What service! And what amazing brunch food. Everything was well above expectations and we rolled out of their fat, happy, and satisfied. Two more things - the lady behind us in line noted how good their french toast was because she had it the week before (and she was right - and I'm usually not a fan)! They also have a bloody mary/mimosa menu that looked fantastic. Overall, this place should get 6 stars. I almost didn't want to write this review to save this gem for ourselves!

Overwhelming. The food tastes pretty good but can be sickening, especially their Sunday brunch. Burgers are covered in too much shit and the meat's not that good. Way too many waiters and bussers. Seriously, leave me the fuck alone for a minute. Decent beer.

Went here while in town with my sis and her fam. The waitress was a complete nitwit and totally forgot to put in my sisters order until after the rest of us had our food. The manager's remedy was to knock off a bunch of money from our bill, but still, my BIL and I tried to eat slowly until her food came. The food itself was good. I would stay away from the garlic mashed potatoes next time tho, too many scallions mixed in. BIL seemed pleased with his beer choices.

This was my first stop when in town and after a 3 hour drive I needed a drink and some grub. This place was suggested by the hotel so I thought I would give it a try. I had a $5 pitcher of an amber beer that had me licking the pitcher when I was done. It went down so smooth and fast I had to stop myself from #2. I got their house burger and it was delish and cooked perfectly. Very friendly servers and I felt very welcomed.

Granite City is favorite of our family and my in-laws. We just went today and the food was fantastic. No one had a problem with the meal. I will say though our waiter was not the best and seemed to have issues with several tables including ours. That's the only reason that they are getting four stars. BTW, love their mug club concept. I'm joining tomorrow (Monday) at a cheaper rate and for inexpensive wings.

Good food but didn't like the fact that we had to wait 15min before we could order the specials that started at noon... I understand rules but come on....
