I'm no foodie but this is what I would call American gourmet. Great food well prepared and presented. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and great service which makes for a nice date or special occasion. Our server was very friendly and attentive (good luck in med school!). If you want something different and tasty try the bison bites appetizer. I usually don't give five stars to any restaurant but this one deserved it!

Went here for our pre-anniversary dinner. LOL we're weird like that. I had the veal roulade and my husband the bison ribeye (rare). We also had the corndance salad as an appetizer. All around great!!! The steak was perfectly cooked and really thick (12oz). The veal was perfectly cooked as well, not dry like can happen with veal. The salad was even perfect. The dressing was a wonderfully aged vinaigrette. It was pricey, but we knew that going in and it's our pre-anniversary dinner damn it! :-) in honor of the opening weekend of the new terminator movie "we'll be back."

The Food: 4/5 - We have been here three times and everytime have had a pleasurable experience. In general the food tastes great even if they decide to service in some of the weirdest contraptions known to man ala the burger. The Service: 4/5 - Service is very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. My one problem is the way they explain the specials because it seriously takes up to 5 minutes....I get the impression they are trying to be some posh 5 star restaurant doing all these cool things but seriously were in Mishawaka/South Bend...just make great food you don't need to talk it up so much.

Wow. Everything dish we had was amazing. Top quality and loved that they used local bison.

This place was great! I went on a Wednesday and opted for the pre-fix menu for $25. I picked the chicken chorizo stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, grilled salmon with veggies and a small salad......AMAZING! I had the molten chocolate cake with ice cream and it was just ok. Also enjoyed a grade A dirty Marini at the bar and it was made to perfection. The customer service was stellar! The staff was awesome. I visited on a work trip but would definitely come back!

Our evening at Corndance was to celebrate a friend's retirement. We had our own table outside which was perfect for our table of 12. The food was amazing. So fresh and unique. My favorite is the salad with the goat cheese. I think I could just eat two of those salads and be done. We also had buffalo and alligator appetizers. Also, our server was very knowledgeable about the incredible variety of food choices. All the way from appetizers to dessert - it was all fantastic.

Phenomenal. Absolute perfection. They took my favorite dish, pesto and goat cheese ravioli, off the menu, and when I asked for it, the kitchen made everything from scratch for me. I was beyond excited! We also had the squash blossoms and my friend got the Sword of John Adams. All delicious. In my opinion, the best food in South Bend.

The hubbie and I had stopped here back in 2012 when the restaurant first opened. We decided to try dinner again Corndance after a day of shopping on Grape Road. Disappointing is a polite way to describe our visit. We started by ordering the Medjool date appetizer. Described as stuffed dates with smoked almond, blue cheese, an aged basalmic reduction & wrapped in Nueske bacon, they sounded great. What we got was 4 pieces of stuffed Medjool dates. Sure they were wrapped in bacon but each date was no more than 1" in length. At $9 for the dish, this comes out to $2.25 per date - a pricey amuse bouche for ingredients that don't even cost half that amount. And where was the smoked almond? was it hidden in the date, or supposed to appear as crushed almond pieces on top? The Corndance salad we ordered had wilted lettuce pieces and was swimming in a pool of salad dressing. Yes there was balsamic in the dressing, but that was all that we tasted. The roast chicken dish featured on their specials list (pollo rico) was described as an inca spiced rotisserie chicken, accompanied by wood roasted garlic steak fries, and a vegetable medley. What showed up was half a roasted chicken on top of 4 (we counted them - only 4!) soggy french fries in a pool of au jus - and no side veggies. The flat iron steak dish listed on the specials menu sounded great - a dry aged steak with truffle oil, sautéed pearl onions and wood roasted garlic steak fries . I was told I got to choose 2 side dishes, which I thought odd for a special but did not turn this opportunity down. When I got my plate, the only items present were a lonely steak topped with some julienned green onion, next to a smear of chipotle BBQ sauce. No sign of the truffle oil, onions or fries that drew me to order this dish - just a bare spot where these items should have been. The coleslaw and broccoli that I choose as my 2 sides also fell flat - large pieces of flavorless cabbage and broccoli that still tasted raw with no salt or seasoning. When we got the bill, we figured out what had happened - our waitress did not realize I had ordered the flatiron steak special, but assumed I was ordering the regular flatiron steak offered under their steak menu. So we weren't charged the price of the special version - a small saving grace - but our impressions of the steak weren't that great either. A requested medium rare came out closer to medium-well, so the steak was slightly tough/chewy. And it didn't have much flavor to it for a dry-aged cut. Service was also lacking - while we understand going to a restaurant on a Saturday evening on Grape Road can result in slow service, we had to wait a significant amount of time for our waitress to take our order. And this was before our dining area was even close to being full, and before a large party of 10 got seated next to us. While I am all for supporting local businesses, these multiple gross oversights were inexcusable. The fact that the kitchen staff was blatantly sloppy or intentionally skimping entree components is an affront to the customer, as the menu pricing is supposed to reflect a higher level of food preparation and the locally sourced ingredients. Corndance touts a rotating seasonal menu, so our waitress should also have known what specials were being offered that night and should have confirmed if I was ordering the regular flatiron steak or the flatiron special. Not catching this tells me that the restaurant is not setting aside time to prep/educate their wait staff on what is actually being offered that day. What made our experience worse is that the owners boast of their experience working in various Chicago restaurants before opening 4 businesses (including this one) in Indiana. I understand that Northern Indiana is not known for high-end restaurants. But that doesn't justify a restaurant dumbing down their level of food & service for a perceived lower clientele expectation. Notre Dame brings in lots of high-dollar spenders during the football season. Our proximity to Chicago means that these people also visit this area during the summer tourist season. A restaurant should never assume that diners will tolerate a lower level of customer service or food quality & presentation because of their geographical location. What matters at the end of the day - a dedication to delivering well-prepared food and good customer service, no matter whether you are a Michelin-rated restaurant serving 5 course menus or a simple mom & pop restaurant offering local specialities. Unfortunately, our 2 visits to Corndance have shown that they are not able to consistently deliver in either area. I won't be going back.

So gross. A line chef at a burger joint could cook all of this food, we can't believe people eat here. Seared ahi tuna is like an easy staple but it was dry (how?) with sugary, floury sauce. Zero talent involved in any of this preparation. Ordered fried portobellos and that was what we got: bland, tasteless breading fried onto plain, unmarinated mushrooms. No sauce, no seasoning, no actual artistry. We have gluten and dairy allergies, respectively, and there was next to nothing we could order to begin with, not to mention the waitress forgot literally every time she came to our table and kept bringing out food that was not prepared the way we requested and offering us alternatives we couldn't eat. UGH.

Heard great things about this place so took my fiancé out for his birthday and our reservations were for 7:30 in which we didn't get to our table until almost 8:00, the waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. We ordered our food and it didn't arrive til 9:15 which I thought was crazy but overall the food was ok, we ordered a few appetizers which were pretty good and we shared the sword of John Adams and it was definitely not enough, itty bitty pieces of meat and more just big chunks of peppers than anything. It wasn't bad but I don't think I will be going back. For the price it just was not nearly good enough

Corn Dance is good....service is great and the food is well prepared, and everything Ive ordered has been prepared with quality fresh ingredients. It is a little pricey, but it is worth it. It is very busy, make a reservation or be prepared to wait.

The food is very good but very expensive. You are definitely paying for high quality, farm to table artisan prepared food with a fancy ambiance. They had a great selection of local craft beers and I loved the evil Czech beer I had. It is neat how the menu changes so much. The pasta I had was packed with a cornucopia of flavors. The mushroom fries we got could have been a meal themselves. The Mexican donuts were a bit disappointing but the chocolate sauce and gelato picked them up a little bit. It took the waitress five minutes just to tell us all the specials at the beginning of the meal there were so many. She was very nice and friendly though. I might go back, but it is definitely a special occasion or for those with a generous wallet type place. I will look forward to going back. It's a nice place.

This has been one of several trips we've made to Cordance. It is one of the Best restaurants in Mishawaka, Indiana. Most of the food served is local sourced and very fresh. Tonight we had the Brazilian Bison Ribeye, cooked medium rare. It was very lean but still very tender. My wife had the Truffeled Chicken Carbonara, which she loved. One of the nice things they have is the wine auction board. Wine from half bottles are sold by the glass, so you get a chance to try a wine that you may have not had there before. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Even though it was very busy, our meal was served quickly. For desert we had the Dulce De Leche Creme Brulee, a delicious custard with caramelized flavor notes

We had dinner at Corndance Tavern on Friday evening and had a great time. We had a group and were able to reserve a private room. The private room was the perfect size for our group of 12, and the atmosphere was what we were looking for. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful with information about the menu, the specials, and desserts. We ordered appetizers, entrees, and desserts with coffee, and everything was great. I had the Bison Meatloaf and it was fantastic! I would definitely have it again.

Bison meatloaf is great and so is the steak, sausage, chicken served skewered on a sword! Deserves a visit if your in town.

I have eaten here often and it is at the top of my list for great food. When I have out of town guests, this is where I take them for a unique and delightful eating experience. This was my first choice this year when I celebrated my birthday and my anniversary. Corndance is definitely a five star restaurant.

Pleasantly surprised! The pork chop was moist and perfectly cooked. Service was excellent.. Ashley was very attentive and had a great attitude! Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced. Knocked off one star for the very small wine pour.. wine by the glass in restaurants must be as lucrative as checked bags for the airlines these days!

The Corndance. I'll try and be as "non san franciscan" as I can when giving this review, but my goodness this restaurant has some serious issues with execution. First things first, don't burn your crostini, throw some mozzarella on it, and call it authentic. If it's burnt, it's burnt. Second, the bison tartare; what were they thinking? On a bed of mashed potatoes and drenched in truffle oil. Honestly, that right there was enough for me to shake my head and ruined my palette. Third, peppercorn steak. I understand the concept of peppercorn steak, but this was too much. Literally every bite tasted like I was biting into cracked pepper. So much pepper! It tasted like the peppercorn wasn't cooked on the steak but added on afterwards (making the flavor extremely pungent). I appreciate the creativity and for trying something new, but for the price tag I'd sadly give this place a pass.

I wanted to like this place because of the locally sourced, high quality of the food. However, the experience was really bad. The food is pretty good, but the management and customer service are absolutely horrible especially considering the price. We made a reservation well in advance and showed up 15 minutes before our reservation with the intention of having a drink at the bar before starting dinner. We checked in with the hostess/manager and she seemed utterly confused, which should have been our first clue. We went to the bar to have our drink while we waited...and waited...and waited. Finally, about 20 minutes after our scheduled reservation we checked back in with them. Long story short, we weren't seated until over hour after our scheduled reservation. We understand that sometimes things happen, but no on apologized or offered a free drink or dessert or anything. I ALWAYS offered customers a comp if there was a problem when I was working in the restaurant industry, this is just basic business. So, the dinner goes on and they are out of everything that made us select the restaurant for dinner in the first place. The food was good, but very disappointing for the price. They are trying to go for creative dishes and the flavor combinations would be good, but it seemed there were major issues with execution in just about everything. So, the poor execution and poor service leave the place with 2 stars only because I applaud the idea behind the restaurant. I probably won't give it another try...too much hassle to drop well over 100 dollars for dinner.

I enjoyed my visit to Corndance Tavern and the ability to try different food without having to travel to Chicago. First, we made a reservation for 7:45 pm and when we arrived at 7:35 pm, they kept going down the walk-ins and made up wait until 7:55 pm to be seated. I'm not sure why we made a reservation since it only cut about 5 - 10 minutes off the time people we quoted on waiting when they walk in the door. They really need to figure this out. When I walked into the dining room it smelled like heaven! The dining room is set in warm tones and the booths feel very private. The kitchen is on display so nothing is hidden. We shared everything to make sure we could sample as much as possible. First up was the pear ravioli and the ham-hock cupcake. The pear ravioli was interesting, poached pears added sweetness to a dish I always thought should be savory. The appetizer was the perfect size to share, I could not have had an entree of it. The ham-hock was stripped and served inside a corn bread muffin. It was a good idea but it was not hot, or even really warm. I would not order it again. Dinner was the chef recommended rabbit and the board written Arctic Char. Both were good. Service was SPOT ON. Nothing to complain about once we got into the dining area. Other notes, I believe the name is quite unfortunate. Why do I say this? I think I am going to a square dance or somehow there will be peanuts and straw on the ground. I think they could have gotten the farm-to-table concept down without that name. That being said, to have a restaurant, with this price point and concept, successful in South Bend is close to a miracle. My other concern -- how food such as arctic char and white asparagus is locally sourced in January in Northern Indiana is beyond me. Turns out they locally source 70% of their ingredients within 100 miles of South Bend. It seems some of the most popular items on the menu is their sword of meat. To me it's gimmicky but it keeps people coming in. Corndance has done something nearly impossible, they have taken fresh, "odd" food and made it successful in South Bend. For that, they should be commended. If you would like to be adventurous, this is the place to do it. If you like steak, chicken, and mash potatoes, then you will think this place is a rip-off! Despite the 3* review, I will be returning!

Ambiance = 5, food = 4.5, price = 3.....the ambiance was great. Felt like we were in a big city restaurant. I got The Sword of John Adams which was amazing. My wife got Oscar Filet and she loved it. The Caesar salad we got was not worth the money. They could use a more flavorful Caesar dressing. I didn't look at the prices before going and unfortunately can't afford to make this a regular stop. We'll make it back though....eventually.

This was a couple years ago, but I won't go back because of the snooty factor we perceived. I've never eaten here. We walked out after waiting for "15 mintues" (45 mins) while three hostesses stood around and talked among themselves. We were walked through a half empty seating area to be seated in a separated dining area for families with children (Two young adults in shorts and t-shirts. No children in our party.) The only other party in the room had young children. We didn't realize it was so expensive, and the menu stated there is a fee if you split dishes, so we decided to pass since nothing looked super interesting. The waiter was very polite to us so we left him a tip for his trouble and bowed out. As we walked past, the hostesses sniggered. Since the hostesses clearly knew we were outclassed on this occasion, and it was clear we had never been there, why not offer us a menu while we waited to hint that maybe it's not worth the wait for us? Dress for dinner, or be prepared to see crayons on your place mat.

Creative and delicious food. Buffalo pizza is a winner. Great crust, shredded chicken and shaved carrot and celery slaw on top. Winner winner. Green beans are light and fresh. Good tempura is hard to find. Tuna is fresh and has great accoutrements. Fried chicken is amazing. The maple balsamic dip is right on. Beers on tap are great. Especially Evil Czech - the house brew. Love the food here. We try to go every time we come to Indiana.

This is the most amazing food!! We were so lucky to be able to have Corndance cater my daughter's wedding - the bride and groom wanted delicious pub-type food in a classy setting - it was so perfect and so well done. Cannot give high enough praise!

I had lobster alfredo and my friends had an assortment of things. The food was good, but everything was extremely heavy! The dessert was really good though. I had the nutella cake. I will try to avoid this place in the future as don't think it's worth the high price.

Amazing dinner tonight. Ordered Vegetable Ash Dusted Filet and didn't even need the steak knife, it was that tender. We always sit at the bar and the service is great.

I've been here many times, but this is my first review. Ambiance is nice, quiet and the greeters were friendly. Took 9 minutes to place our drink order. My wife is a vegan and there was plenty for her to eat. The chef even stated he/she would make a special pasta for her. Appetizer (hummus tray) was delicious! Meal took 15 minutes to arrive. Foods was fabulous!

The only negative about Corndance is that it's not in Chicagoland! :( I was in Mishawaka on business and asked the front desk manager at my hotel for a dining recommendation. I'm a foodie, so I was thrilled when he told me that there was something other than Friday's, Chili's and Houlihans nearby. It was a Monday night when I went and the restaurant was fairly quiet. Being solo, I just grabbed a seat at the bar (which I learned the owner completely built himself, how cool!). The bar manager, Joseph, was a pleasure from start to finish. He handed me an iPad and explained how to navigate through the menu. I was so upset I wasn't with a group of people, solely from the stand-point of my stomach not being roomy enough to accomodate more than a couple of appetizers. I wanted to try the entire menu, it looked so amazing! Much of it is naturally sourced and when Joseph informed me that ownership has his own bison stock down south I decided that one of the bison dishes was a must-try! I gave the bison tartare a try as well as an asian calamari that Joseph suggested. Both were very good (not the best calamari of my life, as he insisted it would be) but still good. I wished the sauce on the calamari was a little more dynamic. It was very one-note (sweet). I would have liked some acid (lime?) and maybe lemongrass or garlic to round out the flavors. The tartare was great, albiet maybe a little salty...but it's meat and I'd rather have it overseasoned than under, in any case. Based on the very limited exposure to Corndance's food, I would have given 4-stars. The fifth star was purely based on excellent service and a warm ambiance. Joseph is a star and I hope the owners realize how great he is! Thanks for a wonderful time...I kind-of hope my company sends me back to Mishawaka so I can give Corndance another go!

Love, love, love Corndance Tavern! It is by far, my most favorite restaurant in the U.S. I love the farm to table concept, and I love the freshness of each item offered on the menu. My favorite item is the Hamhock Cupcake. So delicious! Many menu items to choose from...and ALL of them are perfectly prepared. Great environment, service, and food.

Been here a couple of times. The food is very good. Creative entrees. Great appetizers. Tonight, something was wrong though. At my table of 10, every entree was cold and we waited over an hour for our food. The waiter was nice enough to offer a complimentary dessert (not one from the menu), but at that point the damage was done. I would come back and give them another chance, but that's only because my prior experience here was good.

Hosted a group of 12 for a celebration. Had a super private room and fantastic server, Jessica. We had a range of entrees from the signature, huge, buffalo burger to sea scallops, tongue tacos, etc. Everything was presented beautifully, appropriately hot and without exception, got a rave review from the recipient. Great selection of regional craft beers on tap and an extensive, but not pretentious, wine list. Looking forward to a more intimate dinner with a chance to delve further into the creative menu.

My husband picked this restaurant on a whim and I am forever thankful. Michael was our waiter and could not have more kind or attentive. The Bison Bites are extraordinary as well as the Bison Monster Burger. Fresh ingredients locally grown and excellent wine list!! We will be back!

I've dined here multiple times and have never been disappointed. The pear ravioli and the bison burger are to die for! I love the farm to fork concept & love that the food isn't frozen/pre cooked. The service is amazing every time & the servers are always very knowledgable about the dishes that are served. I always recommend corndance to anyone I know & take friends and family from out of town here. Yum!

Let me share a little bit about myself I am not into wild game food. So I was turned off by the alligator bites. I'm not into Bison meat or California wine so I was extremely limited on drinks and dinner options. I settled for something basic like a fillet, it came out butterflied...almost as flat as a pancake...seriously... and had an odd taste to it. At first I thought it was the seasoning until 20 minutes later ....you can fill the rest. The dessert feature was butternut squash creme brule, a couple of my co-workers tried it and said it was disgusting. So if you're not into Bison, Alligator or butternut squash creme brule stick with what you like. If you feel adventurous you might like this place.

Pork-a-luscious.... I ordered the Peruvian ham hock, which was wonderful! Paired with cheddar mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. This all came with a side of mystical "black water sauce" don't know what is in it, but it should come to the table in a pitcher... Finished the meal with the coffee and donuts...yes, just what you think it is... Fresh cinnamon sugar donuts with coffee gelato!! If you are a foodie in Mishawaka IN, get here!

I've said it before, I love finding and trying new restaurant, and of late, Corndance Tavern is by far the most surprising I've tried. It is entirely unassuming and completely remarkable. Ok, "remarkable" may be overboard, but I had spent the days leading up to my dinner Corndance eating crap as one does traveling for work. So what's the deal? The beer is a good jump off point. They brew their own through Evil Czech Brewery and it is delicious. I recommend the porter to start and then the IPA with dinner. Now, on to the eats...bottom line they were Midwesterny good. Their legendary "Sword of John Adams" did not disappoint the table. It was literally a sword stacked with meats of all kind and a dish I'd be impressed you could take down solo. I dont want to ruin the surprise for you, I suggest you just order it. Your cardiologist however, may not share my opinion. Other winners at the table were the Sitka Salmon and Buffalo Meatloaf. Both were really tasty, but the Buffalo bested the Salmon...it was packed with cheese for God's sake! If you're from Mishawaka (it's fun to say) I'm certain you know if it and will be back, but if you're from out of town, Corndance is a terrific dinner spot and a most surprising experience considering it's location. Quick Tip: They have something called "The Harvest Dinner," which sounds amazing. I'm struggling to find a reason to travel back to the area for it, however, I don't think this dinner would be an acceptable reason unfortunately!

Went here for dinner a couple of weeks ago. We were visiting my sister who currently lives in the area. We were there on a Saturday night so of course there was a wait, but it was well worth it! To start, we had the Pear Ravioli & the Portobello Mushroom "fries". The ravioli was incredible - the combination of sweet and salty was done very well. We almost regretted not getting it as a main! The mushroom fries were interesting - although I wish I'd known they weren't actually fries! They are strips of portobello mushrooms fried in a tempura batter. These were still pretty good but a little greasy for my liking. For mains, we had the Monster Bison Burger, Pepperjack Mac and Fettucine Lobster & Shrimp. The burger was outstanding! Very juicy and presented in a really interesting way. The pepperjack mac was also really good. How can you go wrong with mac and cheese?! The fettucine was our least favourite but that's just because it wasn't something that different from what you find at other restaurants. Portions were generous (no room for dessert), service was great, would love to go back again next time we visit my sister!

This rating is a reflection of the front desk...never got the opportunity to try the food. We were a party of 5, called ahead and was told they could get us a table in about 15 minutes. We drove across town, put our name on the list and waited for about 30 minutes when we were notified that they misjudged their capacity and asked us to leave. Standing next to us was a party of 4 that was told the same thing. For a restaurant that is trying to be the place to go in the SB area, they have a lot to learn about how to manage their tables and customer service.

Corndance had been on my list of place to try while I was in the area, and I'm really glad I did. The restaurant has a pretty cool look inside and a nice bar area. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the often changing, seasonal menu. They also make a big effort to use local and fresh ingredients and are big on farm to fork cooking which I really appreciate. Finally, they seem to put a lot of creativity into the design and plating of their dishes. Now onto the food-we had: -Bacon wrapped dates. Awesome! Tender dates filled with bleu cheese which was super velvety and a crunchy nut. Perfect balance of sweet and salty, silky and crunch. -Pear ravioli. Very, very good, but quite sweet. Not a bad thing, but be ready for an almost desert like entree. The portion is also pretty large. -BLT Salad. Awesome!! One of the top salads I've ever had. Bacon was incredibly smokey and thick cut. You also NEED to get the beef tips along with this salad. The pieces of steak were cooked perfectly to medium rare, topped with a great sauce, and large. The plating of this dish was very artful, with whole leaf lettuce placed inside of a crouton cup, but this did make it rather hard to eat. -Along with the food, we sampled some of their drinks. There is a long list of cocktails and a respectable tap list including some form their own brewery. Corndance is not cheap, but neither is the quality of their food. I would strongly suggest visiting if you're in the South Bend area and want a great meal. P.S. If you like ketchup even a little, don't miss their mango ketchup - so good.

Absolutely enjoyed eating here. I have ordered something different every time and have yet to be disappointed. Yes, it may be pricey but definitely worth it. They do not lack in presentation nor taste. I have only sat in the bar area and private room so I never feel the that type of "rushed" environment as some restaurants do. If I have to choose a favorite, it would be the Tuna Tar Tar.

All I can say is AMAZING food, brilliant wait staff, and amazing mixed alcoholic beverages. Truly wish Corndance Tavern was located near Chicago. I would have to say I would spend way too much money at this restaurant. Try the Sword of John Adams if you want to try something unique to the restaurant. Also, their hummus appetizer was delicious. If I am ever in Mishawaka again, Corndance will be on my list of places to go. :)

First visit to the Mishawaka location and it will NOT be our last! We were greeted and welcomed promptly... Seated within minutes... Our server Nathan S. Was awesome!!! He had more personality than 100 typical servers (and I'm picky on this!). Our appetizer took a little long but was great ...alligator!! Our meal was very good also. My husbands ribeye was flavorful but slightly tough. My prime rib was done to perfection and my sides were delicious... And did I mention it came with a complimentary glass of wine!?!? My daughter had a pasta dish and she really liked it although the chicken was overdone. Yes, it's a little pricier than our usual casual Sunday dinners out but it was Mother's Day and we wanted to try it out. Well worth it!! Glad we went, glad it was good (that's hard to find) and super glad we had a great server. :)

Arrived for our reservation we made over a week ago and were seated in the bar. Looking back I would have asked for a seat in the main room as the traffic in the bar was a little high and distracting. My fault for not asking to be switched right away. Beer list was unimpressive. Touted they where associated with Evil Czech brewery but only had two of their beers. Had no IPAs on tap. At least one is standard for a decent beer restaurant. Appetizer was great but our meal came about five minutes after our appetizer was finished. For a restaurant like this I expect better timing and more time to relax between plates. Food was decent but overall I felt rushed and left feeling like I overpaid for my experience. Was disappointed since it was a night out with my wife we don't get too often with two kids.

Carsten S. Went to dinner with a couple celebrating their 25th anniversary. What a fantastic experience. We started in the bar with Katie the bartender explaining the wine choices and specialty cocktails. Modestly price drinks and great craft beer selection. Dinner was next and our server Donnie was excellent. He explained all the appetizers and made great suggestions. The food was excellent and moderately priced. Bison meatloaf was a favorite! Hands down the best choice on Grape Road!

I've been to many times, but just now getting around to writing a review. My most recent experience was last night with a group of friends. The place was packed being a Friday night and ND's final home football game for the season, but we had a great table in the bar for the five of us. Service was pretty good despite being extremely busy. Our server did seem to be a little overwhelmed at times with all his tables, but we've been there enough to know him and wasn't worried about it. The girls were drinking wine (house Chardonney for me) and the guys were drinking beer. It's always hard to decide what to order at Corndance. The menu is great and includes many unique items featuring locally sourced food (included local farm raised bison). They have a wide variety of daily specials too. We often opt for appetizers so we can try a few things. Tonight's selection included the arancini (deep fried mushroom risotto balls), chipotle pork sliders with homemade gardinera and green bean fries. I'm not a fan of mushrooms, but everyone else at the table raved about them. The muffalatta flat bread was delicious with a great olive tapenade, assortment of Italian meats and cheese on a crisp flatbread. The one entree ordered was the fish in a bag. The selection of the night was Mahi Mahi with an Asian twist featuring subtle hints of hoisin, soy and ginger. The fish was baked with julienned vegetables and steamed bok choy - very light yet savory dish. While we didn't order it this trip, the Sword of John Adams is something to see - check for the night's selection as it changes regularly. Last night's was a 14 oz ribeye with baked potato skins. It's quite the presentation when served on a huge sword! We ordered a few desserts to share - butterscotch creme brulee (didn't really notice the butterscotch flavor and not one of my favorite brulees, although the top was perfectly coated and crisp), almond joy cheesecake and chocolate molten lava cake. Corndance is pretty reasonably priced when sticking with appetizers and small plates. While the entrees can be a little pricier, it's well worth it for the creativity, high quality and locally sourced foods.

Great local restaurant. I had the beef tenderloin sliders and the ahi tuna sliders. The sauce on the beef sliders was a bit sweet for my taste, but the beef was tender and delicious. The ahi tuna was seared on the outside and pink on the inside and very nice. They're served on mini hoagie rolls with some veggies on the side. I also got a spinach goat cheese salad with balsamic vinagrette. The vinagrette was once again on the sweet side but overall not bad. I was with some friends and we each ordered a different dessert. I can't remember the name of mine but it was a custard cup with fresh berries. Nice and lightweight and not too sweet. My friend ordered the doughnuts and coffee ice cream and that was divine. You get 5-6 mini doughnuts, a cup of coffee ice cream, and chocolate sauce. By far my favorite dessert of the three we got. Service was ok. It was a long wait (almost 40 minutes) so be sure to make reservations in advance. The receptionists at the front desk were sort of frosty and a bit snooty. Our waiter was a nice guy but his descriptions of the specials was a bit lacking. He probably has to repeat these over and over a million times, so I understand his weariness. Anyway, no real complaints.

Listen service and atmosphere is great but we were very underwhelmed by the food. Corn dance is trying to serve food ethnic, exotic, gourmet food but watering down for Midwest tastes. We ordered the escargot which we have had all over the world (Costs Rica, Thailand, South Africa) They took a delicacy and put it in a pot pie over cooked it and dumped gravy all over it in a pillsburry dough. Needless to say it was terrible. We ordered the duck confit tacos and again. They fried everything. The shell was soggy and the duck was oily. It tasted like oil. My husband ordered the trotters and it was like a jello texture with tons of fat and bones. I ordered a filet 7oz medium rare. It came done with no flavor. I have ordered filet at much cheaper restaurants and gotten much better steak. The prices they are charging are not even close to worth it. We paid the $72 for the 2 appetizers and the 1 entree with 2 drinks. (They took my steak off the bill and we sll agreed it was over done). And we went to Bone fish and had a great meal and drinks. I would recommend Bone Fish or Cafe Navrre if you want a night out with good food. Skip Corn Dance.

Excellent restaurant, easily in my top 3 places to dine in the South Bend area. Don't let the location or the look fool you - the chef and the food are great. It is definitely a meat-centric place, so if you are vegan/vegetarian this might not be the best choice. Though, they do have options that are quite good. Be forewarned, the servers are a bit annoying as they constantly stop by your table (exceeds 10 times) and they speed read through a long list of specials with all the details. How about you just tell me the specials and I'll ask for details if I'm interested? They are friendly at least! As the restaurant progresses, I wish they would consider local wines from MI and some additional desserts.

This place is a great addition to the Mishawaka area. Most restaurants around are all chain, and this provides a great alternative to those looking to dine somewhere unique. We once again sat at the bar and then moved to a four top, and the girl behind the bar was great! She was friendly, offered great suggestions and even saved us a table in the bar area for when we wanted to eat dinner. We started with the Lobster roll (think lobster balls), and those were so tasty! They were packed with lobster meat and then deep fried. Next was the beet and goat cheese salad. I love anything beet and anything goat cheese. This was light and refreshing, even my dad liked it! For my entree, I had the sea bass. The fish was wood grilled and tasted excellent; however the mash that it was served with didnt work for me. Two other had the sirloin with fries and it was cooked perfectly and the fries were great! My mom had the filet and it was a nice size of meat. Her sides were the green beans and the mashed potatoes and the green beans were amazing with bits of onion and bacon! I would definitely come back the next time I'm in town! I think its exactly what the area needed. They have their own brewery in Culver, IN and all their beers on tap are from the brewery. My mom tried one and thought it was really good. Definitely check them out if you're in the area!

Ate at Corndance last night.. waited about 20 minutes a table despite having a reservation, then waited another 20 or so minutes before the waitress stopped by for our orders. Food took about 40 minutes to get to the table once we ordered (there were 5 people in my party). 3 people in our party ordered the Monster Bison Burger cooked medium. All 3 burgers were VERY rare (the waitress agreed) and very greasy. We also had an order of the Brick Chicken, which was a total disappointment. The chicken was slightly larger than a robin and very fatty, but beyond that it was over-seasoned to the point that it was totally inedible (the waitress also agreed with us on this). On top of that, my killer stomach ache kicked in about an hour after my meal and was followed by many hours of unpleasantries I'll not subject you to on a food website. You'll never catch me at Corndance again.

This is now a favorite place of mine! I love the eclectic atmosphere and menu choices. Nothing here is plain by any means. There are plenty of places to sit so even when it's packed, there is no wait and lots of space. I love all the wood and fancy tables and booths. Their menu is totally unique and you will not find items similar anywhere else...I promise. I sat at the bar and watched some sports. The bartender was VERY nice and gave me plenty of attention. She even noticed that it was my birthday and offered me a free dessert after my meal. As I sat, every meal that came out to its table was a showcase and everyone had to turn and look and guess what it was. They all looked like masterpieces! I wasn't that hungry and was just killing time so I just had a couple drinks, a ham hok cupcake, and a hummus plate. All magnificent! I cannot say enough about the cupcake...oh my goodness! The meat was so lean and the cupcake so moist. They were telling me about the ham hoks they use and how huge they are. The flavors went together so well and the sauce was perfect. The hummus plate was wonderful with all of the veggies. It was nice and thick and seasoned perfectly. The drinks were not watered down and tasted really nice. I went ahead and took the free dessert...well why not? It was free lol. It was coconut cheesecake. I don't care much for coconut most times, but it was smooth and not too sweet. If you are ever anywhere close to this place it is a must try!

Had reservations this evening. The service was great, always there to help us, very knowledgeable with the drinks and food/menu. I had the bison meatloaf with bourbon sauce. The portions were larger than I should have eaten but it was just so delicious I had to eat it all. The rest of the party also had delicious meals. I am from out of town but when I return to South Bend I will also return to Corndance. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I was on the road and was tired of work and being away from home and this place just really made me feel warm and relaxed for the first time this week. Great beers on tap, nice quite music and some television activity that wasn't knocking you out of your chair, and I had the Pepperjack Mac and it just knocked my socks off. No wait to sit at the bar and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. While a bit pricey for beer and mac n cheese, it's a place you should treat yourself to every once in a while because at the end of the day, it will be the best mac n cheese you ever have. . When I go back I am going to try the Sashimi tuna..

I have to give the restaurant credit for an innovative menu. However, the execution was really lacking. Every single dish we had could have been improved. The baked mozzarella and prosciutto salad came out with burnt crostini. My bison tartare was on a bed of mashed potatoes swimming in truffle oil. The mashed potatoes masked the flavor of the meat, and the truffle oil was overwhelming. When I finished, there was literally a pool of oil on my dish. Nothing requires that much truffle oil. Next up was the pulled pork and cornbread cupcake. The cornbread was good, but the pulled pork was bland (no seasoning or sauce). My boyfriend's peppercorn steak was overwhelmed with peppercorns. He had to scrape them off to eat them. The best part of the meal were the stuffed dates, which were decent, but could have used a blue cheese with more flavor. It was also pretty expensive for the area. They did have a good drink menu, though, and the ambiance was nice.

The food was ok and overpriced. The waitress who seated us was polite but I had to ask all the questions and figure out the specials. She did know the answers but was very apathetic. The meal came out but the 7oz filet came out cold and was tasteless. It was $28 for just steak with no salad or sides. The restaurant was not busy so I could not figure out why the food and service was at best mediocre. It was a disappointment.

Ate there twice while on a business trip. Both times with big groups. Service impeccable, friendly. Most amazing standard and specials menu I have seen in a while. Steak frites - amazingly tender. Special muffuletta flatbread and duck confit tacos were the "lighter" choice on night #2 and were awesome. The Voodoo draft, their own, was a great brew. Shared banana Napoleon across the table. One of the finest desserts ever.

Awesome unique restaurant with locally grown produce & locally raised meats. You get the quality of a five star downtown Chicago or Indy spot at a Michiana appropriate price

Corndance has a wonderfully creative menu that also happens to be incredibly delicious. The dining room and bar are both comfortable and welcoming, and the service has always been good. I'm especially fond of their risotto, the ahi tuna, and a really fantastic banana cake with Nutella frosting I had a few weeks ago-- it was amazing. I don't go frequently, but I'm always glad when I do. It's definitely a favorite.

Went while at South Bend with family and two guests. Promptly seated and served. Beer was excellent. Had the dates appetizer and a flat bread also. Both were excellent. The entree was excellent but the desserts where even better. About fifty bucks a person after tip for drinks, appetizer, entree and desert. My only criticism was it was a bit noisy and was the furniture gave the feel of a roadhouse type restaurant . Overall, A great meal and look forward to my next visit.

If I never go here again it will be to soon. All I can say is some manager named joe have us the worst experience I've had in my life and honestly I can't believe this man is even still employed. We had a lovely server in training shadowing him whom he would just treat like a horrible human being if the slightest thing went wrong. Well joe maybe you should stop by a shitty employee who uses fear from what I saw, and learn how to actually run a business. Great food, terrible people.

We had our 10 year Anniversary dinner here back in July 2013 and I still remember the evening and the delicious food with fond happiness. By far the best was their filet mignon cooked to perfection and served with a special steak sauce that enhanced every bite. It was worth the high price and ruined me for lower quality filets forever. Their service was great and we will come back again.

2nd try.... My meal came out cold. Send back. I got the Ham Hocks. The hock was so big, I took it home and made ham and potato soup the next day, a BIG pot. My husband had a buffalo steak with blue cheese on top. The potato was very salty. Not giving this place another chance. Best part of the meal was my Three Floyds beer and leaving without paying, a company meal. Wooo hoo!!!

I really like Corndance and usually eat in the bar. I like their wine by the glass selection and their unique takes on different foods. I especially enjoy the pork and cornbread cupcake, the sliders, and whatever is served on the sword. Come on! It's food on a sword!

Coming from San Francisco, I have struggled to find good dinner spots in the South Bend area. With that said, Corndance Tavern absolutely blew my mind. Unbelievable food, unbelievable service, and I sat down right away. I ordered the Bison Burger ($18 but well worth it), and it was the best burger I have ever had. The owner owns a bison farm, and so everything was super fresh and tasted great. I followed that up with their Banana Napoleon dessert, which was UNBELIEVABLE. It's only available during the winter I believe, and I highly recommend it. I really could not have been more pleased with my experience here. I don't often take to Yelp to write reviews on restaurants, but felt the urge to do so with Corndance Tavern.

The Corndance is a surprisingly nice restaurant in an otherwise nondescript area of strip malls and large chain eateries. The Corndance stands out for its elegant decor and extensive list of craft beers and wine. The food is very good as well, and our waiter was very attentive and responsive. He explained in great detail the specials, which are highly recommended as the staple of the restaurant is their locally grown, fresh meat and produce. I had a beer called Double Dragonfly, which was very good - a bit hoppy, but with nice depth. For the main course, I had mushroom risotto, which had a deep, earthy flavor that was excellent. Highly recommended too are the small plates, and of them, I would suggest you try the stuffed dates: medjool dates, smoked almond, nueske's applewood smoked bacon, blue cheese, aged balsamic. So, don't let the name full you, this is a very good restaurant when you are visiting region around Notre Dame.

I ate at Corndance one time and that was it for me! I can't wait to go back. Came in just before rush hour one Friday evening and were promptly seated, even though we didn't have a reservation. Our waitress pointed out the specials on the board and was thoughtful as well as helpful with steering us in the right direction and answering our questions. I understand their main menu item is meat so imagine my surprise when I saw a seitan stir fry - a vegan dish - how impressive! I have not been to any restaurant of this caliber which had such an offering. We had small plates - some corndance frites which were delicious. I had a gorgeous salad with edamame, pickled ginger and a sesame dressing - absolutely fabulous. I also had a creative dish - pear ravioli. It was so different and warm - can't explain it but It was great. My dining partner shared in the frites, ordered the winter salad and had the chicken breast sliders and pronounced it amazing. Is it cheap? No, but the food justifies the prices. This is top notch, beautifully prepared and presented and great tasting.

By far the best restaurant in the area. I love that it is not stuffy and has a range of people but the food is as if it is prepared with the care and attention for royalty. I have NEVER had a bad meal here.

We came in last night with a big group and everything was wonderful! Our waitress Allison did a great job explaining everything and keeping up with our table. The food was fantastic, I loved the pear ravioli, which she kindly told us was sweet, and she was right but it was unique and very good! We had a few appetizers, all were wonderful! The bison bites were my favorite! Would definitely recommend this for anyone to try!

Had to review Corndance Tavern, just to be certain it stands out from the crowd... If you're in the area from out of town, skip the chain restaurants, go to Corndance! This place knows food!! The chef is from the former Czech Republic, came to the US and opened Mike Ditka's place, as well as many others, in Chicago. He wanted to get out of the city and opened his first Corndance restaurant in little Culver, In. Now he's in Mishawaka, and the food is simply amazing! Using ingredients from local Amish farms, and his own Bison, he's doing things better than most. Try it! Try it! And enjoy!

I love the concept of this place. The execution just isn't there yet. With that being said, this place is probably top 5 in the South Bend area. I couldn't remember what we ordered, it was that unmemorable. According to my pictures, we had ham cupcakes, bison meatloaf, and something I can't determine that was a daily special. I grew up in this town and haven't been back for years. I was there for a couple days so didn't really have a chance to see what else was out there. Instead of going to the same chain restaurants, give this place a shot. It will blow Chili's, Friday's, and Houlihan's out of the water. It also supports locals. The one thing that I still rave about from this place is the whiskey beer. I think it was called Dragon's Breath? It is GOOD, and strong, and I wish I could get it where I live now.

After years of hearing the lore of Corndance Cafe in Culver but never having the opportunity to try it, I was excited about the Corndance Tavern opening in Mishawaka. Our server was enthusiastic, maybe a tad on the overeager side. He was attentive and helpful, thoroughly reviewing the specials. According to him, the specials change daily -- that's enough to pique my interest and convince me to consider returning in the future. Our party started with the spinach dip. This is so far beyond that slop they serve at your average chain restaurant. Flavored with healthy doses of garlic and sauteed onions and served with toasted, fresh bread, this dip maybe changed my life a little. And, unlike most restaurants, when we ran out of toast points, they offered to bring more. That's class. The wood-fired pizza is excellent. Two of us ordered the pear Gorgonzola pizza -- large portion, great flavor, and hot out of the oven. A dining companion order the linguine with black mussels. Fantastic -- the sauce was just a touch spicy and there was a generous portion of mussels atop the pasta. The real show stopper, though, was the chicken and waffles. Twice-fried chicken atop bacon and cheddar waffles. Rave reviews from everyone at the table. Corndance is renowned for their bison dishes. A few patrons around us ordered the bison rib-eye and bison short ribs. The dishes looked fantastic. Check out their list of cocktails and absolutely don't miss out on their wine list. They have some great wine by the glass options, including the Amphora Zinfandel. Would absolutely recommend reservations. We called in the afternoon (thankfully) and were told they only had two reservations left , one at 5:15 and the other at 8:30. Looking forward to Corndancing again and trying some of the regular menu options!

This is one of my wife's favorite local restaurants. I like going here as well, because when we dine here, my wife usually gives me sex when we get home. Something about bison meat, meat on swords, and decadent desserts that really get her in the mood. They always have some great beers on tap. The specials are always changing and always amazing. The Peruvian Pork Ham Hock is a sight to behold. The meat is tender and seasoned to perfection. I've never ordered one for myself, only sampled it. It's a great cozy atmosphere to gather with friends or celebrate a special event. The wait staff are always extremely knowledgeable and professional. The place is very popular and can be very busy on the weekends. Very unique, wonderful menu, that might get you sex. It works for me!

This is not my official review but I have to tell someone! You are the ones that I chose! George and Tammy Pesek have arrived in Mishawaka with the soft opening of their newest restaurant Corndance Tavern. The restaurant located on Grape Road that I have mentioned as a haunted location of the ghosts of restaurant pasts is now ALIVE. Upon entering you will venture into a warm cozy atmosphere with many personal touches such as photos he has taken and the woodwork in the bar and dining area that Chef George created himself. But I know you want to know my thoughts on the food. Let me say that my visit was quite nice. I am impressed that in two weeks they have been open that they staff was quite knowledgeable and helpful in menu and drink offerings. There are still kinks that need to be worked out but none that I witnessed. Check out the chalkboards that show the specials for the day. It is quite varied and will peak your interest. Tammy Pesek says that she wants folks to feel comfortable and walk up to the board or down to the Chef's station and look around at the food being prepared. Back to the food. I loved it! However, I like food with a lot of flavor. There are foods that I was told were a bit more bland but whyyyy would you want to go that route? Garlic is abundant on the on menu and incorporated in many of the dishes. I checked the menu on their original Culver location and it is about 95% the same with a few variances. For a starter, I would suggest the Ultimate Starter. Roasted whole garlic, olive oil, parmesan cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and fresh bread. Crackers would be nice with this appy as well. I was so immersed in Garlic goodness I begin concocting how I could make this at home. I ordered one of the specials which was the 8oz. Bleu Cheese encrusted bison filet with a blackened shrimp and tobacco onions. I believe that it was about $28. It was quite flavorful and the bison was prepared perfectly. It was a delight to behold and even better to taste., Most of the menu items come with two sides. I chose the Bean Medley with General Tso sauce. Nice, not too plain and fresh tasting. The second side was the White Cheddar Mashed Potatoes. The taters were good but did not pack a cheesey punch. That is not necessarily a bad thing as the steak and the sauce on the beans had a lot of flavor. I believe that folks will be able to find something on this menu to gnaw on! There are soups, salads, fish, chicken, quail, pasta and pizza. Let me note that there is a wood fired pizza oven but due to health regulations (our tax dollars at work) they were informed that they could not burn wood in the WOOD BURNING PIZZA OVEN. Whatever. The pizza was still looking good to me. Finally, because this is not really a review for me, you should know that the Peseks have a farm with real bison and other animals. They also have real gardens. You will notice both on their menus. They may buy from others but these folks believe in sustainability and that is quite refreshing to see in this area. Here is how they put it, "We source the majority of our food from local organic farms, Amish farmer markets, and our own American Bison Ranch." Anyways, I could go on and on but I am not, because this is not a real review. Later this year, after they work out all the kinks, that I did not notice, we will have an official review and a "What's for Dinner?" In the meantime, patronize this business and tell me what you think. I am off base, slightly crazy or what?!

I went there on a date night and had a great time. The copper river salmon was lean and fresh. I can't stand fatty salmon. The veggies were crisp and flavorful. The buffalo meatloaf is made with pork sausage and that's really all it tasted like- too bad because I really like buffalo. The desert was amazing. My husband ordered a banana churro drenched in chocolate, it was delectable!

OK I finally went after driving by a thousand times and hearing the hype. The food was good and up to boasts. The service was excellent. The use of buffallo meat and alternate cuts of beef in the foods is absolutely commendable. Variety in a locale like this is most appreciated. Decor was rustic chic, which I like. I didn't check out the bar but they have one. Here was the one hitch. I had a buffallo slider that was undercooked. Wow-- how do you undercook a slider that has this thin little patty? That was gross and a real screw up that I didnt expect for the price. They fixed it but the one bad bite kind of ruined my appettite. The best thing was the corn muffin with smoked ham hock. Wow that was fantastic. I will be back to try the sword entree, some kind of grilled meats on a little saber.

Corndance is a great restaurant. They have amazing drinks, and the food is awesome, especially the bison bites. Even their pizza is exceptional. Came here for my birthday with my family. Got the Bree cheese stuffed chicken of the specials menu. It was the most amazing thing I've ever tasted. The service was also very good and our waiter was very helpful in helping my picky family members decide on dishes. Everyone liked what they had. I actually live in Boston though my family is from Mishawaka and I thought the prices were a bit high for Indiana but it was worth it.

I've been to Corndance several times, and overall, I'll say I always enjoy it and it's one of my favorites in the area. Sometimes I think they're trying a bit too hard. I recently had a salad that came in an angled bowl that was very low on one side and high on the other. It was a deconstructed kind of salad, so all the components were in little piles. Cool looking? Yep. Easy to eat? Not at all, unless you wanted to either eat all the components separately, or try to mix it up a little and risk losing half the salad off the low side of the bowl. The bartenders have given me great advice on wines and been super-friendly on some visits, and on other visits, they were too busy chatting with friends to come over and let me place an order. They use great ingredients, so sometimes I read the menu and find myself wishing they'd keep the dishes a little simpler and let the food sing on its own a little more. The summer menu, more focused on small plates, has some great choices, and is a nice way to enjoy Corndance and spend a little less than you would on a traditional entree.

Great experience. Tried a few different dishes (bison sliders, brie, "Sword of John Adams"--I don't know why it's called that, neither did our server), which all turned out great. The Sword is a 2 foot long skewer, with different meats, vegetables, grilled, reminiscent of a churrascaria style, but all meats (sausage, chicken, steak) on a single skewer. Lots of other specials on the board, which I'll want to try on another visit. As mentioned, there is an emphasis on farm to table menus. Excellent service, very attentive, quick. A little pricey, but well worth it. BTW, the entrance to the parking lot is not the first one you see, that goes to the restaurant next door's lot, which I found out the hard way.

Wonderful appetizer pizzas, great staff, bartenders know their stuff, wait staff are fun and attentive. Food was great! Our table ate four different appetizers and three different main dishes and all cooked perfect. First time we ever dined here at the Corndance tavern, we will be back! Cheers!!!!

Love love loved it! Great good and atmosphere. Had the Sword of John Adams which was fantastic. Also had hummus platter which surprised me and was sneaky good. Will definitely return again and try more on the menu as it all looked and sounded fantastic.

This is one of my favorite places to eat...when I can afford it. I've been here twice, and both time I was completely impressed with the food and experience. The first time I dined here our server acted like he had got dropped off to work by the short bus, but as soon as the manager recognized our discontent, she replaced the window licker with a stand-up server immediately. Well played. The food is about the best I've ever ate. You can tell the Chef has a passion for cooking. I will definitely be back.

Finally getting around to my review of Corndance after my husband and I visited them for dinner this past Sunday evening. I have been there 4 times now and the crowds have definitely died down as we were able to just walk in and get a decent table in the bar. I have only eaten in the bar area, which I love but will have to be patient some day and wait the extra 10 minutes to get a table in the main dining room, just for the experience. Even though the hype has died down a little, I would still recommend planning ahead and making a reservation for prime time Fridays and Saturday nights. I have always had great service here and the bar area is just plain fun. I did notice I didn't get quite as attentive service with my husband as I did dining with my girlfriends (wink, wink). In my experience, the wait staff in the bar area are very attentive, flirty and just like to sit and chat, especially on a week night. This even netted me a free martini one night and trust me, I am well past the point of guys buying me drinks! They made the evening fun but just bordered on being a little intrusive. Martinis are fabulous and huge, which is reasonable for the price. Many different ones to choose from and they change the menu frequently, which I appreciate. They have a wonderful wine list with a wide range of prices, all the way up to super pricey. Decent beer list too and I can't help but be impressed by anyplace that puts New Holland's Dragon Milk on tap. But, the food. Almost everything I have had has been excellent. I love their concept - fresh and local as much as possible. Portabella fries were yummy, buffalo and short rib burgers wonderful (but PLEASE be specific on how you want it cooked- they lean towards the very rare side), crab cake yummy...my only complaint so far is the pizza, at least the 1 I got on Sunday. It was WAY too done and the crust was like a brickette. I should have said something and sent it back but was pretty darn hungry. If it came out that way again, I definitely would. All in all, I think Corndance is a breath of fresh air in the middle of all the cookie cutter chains in the Grape Road area. I found it very startling to be staring out their windows at a Chili's across the street because their dining experience really makes you forget where you are for a few hours.

2.5 - 3 Stars My wife and I were excited to visit the Corndance Tavern. When we got there, the parking lot was almost full - good sign. The hostess tells us the wait is 20 minutes and if we like we can sit in the bar. After 35 minutes I check with the hostess and she says just a few more minutes. Then she comes back and tells us our table is ready... in the bar. I never said I wanted to sit in the bar. I don't want to have a noisy meal with my wife in a bar. She says. "well, when we quote a time, that is for sitting in the bar." She never told us that ahead of time. (Had they told us about the long wait to begin with, we could have had an appy in the bar to tide us over.) We wait 20 more minutes... as we are getting up to leave, she tells us our table is ready. We get probably the only strange table in the dining room right by the steps... not so great, but we're hungry and we really want to give this place a chance. Our waiter made up for the delay in getting us a table by quickly taking our order... The food came out quickly; perhaps too quickly. My wife had ordered a wood-fire pizza which was on par with any wood-fire pizza we've had elsewhere. definitely a thumbs up. I ordered the quail... it was very delicious, however, it was undercooked. In retrospect I should have sent it back right away. Here I am a day later and I didn't get sick, so I guess it was okay. The other issue I had was biting down a whole olive in the stuffing - pit and all. Luckily it was a small one and I don't think I damaged my teeth. Overall: I'll come back again, but if the experience doesn't improve, won't be back a 3rd time. The restaurant looks great. The food is good and of good value. Maybe our experience was a fluke. Suggestions: *Give realistic times for the wait to get a table. *Don't assume people want to sit in the bar - ask. *The dishwasher they run in the bar gives off a terrible chlorine smell, it made us gag. *Please, please, please make sure fowl is cooked thoroughly and not served partially raw - I have pictures. Iron out a few details and you'll have a wildly successful restaurant.

Great restaurant for the Mishawaka area. If you're out of town I would def come here since most other restaurants in the area are chains. I've been here several times. My favorite meal was chicken and waffles (a special). The food is good and different. I do agree with a lot of other reviewer's comments that the hostesses often seat you in the bar without asking. It's worth the wait for the dining room. I wouldn't compare the restaurant to the many great restaurants in Chicago, but it's a good choice if you're in the Mishawaka area.

Kudos to Corndance ownership for reaching out and inviting my dad and sister back for dinner. According to them much better experience.

Pricey. Holy crap Batman this place is expensive $45 per person for food that wasn't as good as you can get at Logan's. It cost three dollars extra to have then sprinkle some parmesan on my streak. They say it's bison, buy I think it's bull.

Very good, not quite great. The food was excellent, service very good, and atmosphere just okay. Given that the locale is a former chain restaurant on Grape Rd., the lack of atmosphere is understandable. Why couldn't they open this in downtown SB in a spot with more character? We ordered the bison bites app and they were meaty and flavorful. The artichoke dip was some of the best I have tried, and the Grouper special was the best piece of fish I've had in the Bend. (I would compare it to something you would get at Timothy's on Red Arrow...The veal was decent but certainly not spectacular. Will certainly be back, and will probably try the bison meatloaf and wood fired pizza, which both looked delectable.

I can't say enough about this awesome place. I've been here about 6 times now and every time I try to try something new but I love the items I've already tried and I want to just keep ordering them. Their specials are always really good but I can't get enough of their meatloaf, that right I said meatloaf. I don't even like meatloaf and this is one of the best things I've ever had. I want to rub it all over my body it's so good. I always get their soup and it has always been great. Everything here is made from scratch and is of the highest quality. I make it a point to always eat here when I come to town, it's really the only thing I look forward to in the city. The service is some of the best around, I normally sit at the bar and I always get the same young lady bartender. She is very good at her job and is always full of great suggestions, everything she has suggested has been really good. It's to the point I will let her order for me, she's just that good at her job. If you find yourself in this city I strongly suggest you make it a point to eat here. It's worth anything you have to go through to make it happen

as a foodie and former Michiana resident, I was not too optimistic about a restaurant named, "Corndance." After dining there this evening, I will eat my words- although I am too pleasantly full at this point to do so :o Dinner was delicious-everyone at my table loved their meal and the person who suggested dining there had just eaten there the night before! Everything was prepared with attention to detail, emphasis on the fresh and local. I thought they did a wonderful job on the inside and made the interior very welcoming. A great selection on the menu-everything you could ever want and more. extremely creative and fresh. I eat very healthy and it is difficult to find a true fine dining restaurant in the South Bend area that is not heavy and dated, but Corndance does an excellent job of bringing South Bend into the culinary experience of larger cities. I loved it!

What a jewel we found in Mishawaka, IN! This place was delicious! We got the blue cheese crusted bison ribeye, buttered lobster, tuna sashimi, butternut squash. I did not think I would find a place with such diversity and tasty food. A little pricey, but definitely worth it. Will be going back as soon as possible.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in South Bend. We've been three or four times, and the service and food quality have been consistent. Be sure you have reservations, as they are also consistently busy! The pear ravioli is good, but there are so many walnuts in the sauce it makes the texture a bit off. Everything else we've ordered has been superb. Last visit, we had the Goat Cheese Napoleon and Coconut Shrimp for appetizers, and then for entrees, a Veal Roualde, Margherita Pizza, and a Bison Ribeye. The menu is creative, and the daily specials and desserts are always new. It is expensive, but worth the cost. Its location on Grape Road makes it more expensive than its neighbors ~ if they were located downtown, it might not seem so pricey.

5 words: the sword of John Adams. Each night a different piece of meat is served to you ON A SWORD! I got the prime rib on a sword. Nothing can rival that. Corndance is great for a splurge. Their appetizers are delicious. My favorite is the Mac and cheese flatbread. Their daily specials are the best things to order. I have never had a meal that disappointment. And their desserts!!!! I don't even know how to describe how awesome they are. Each night they have a different homemade ice cream. Their popcorn ice cream is my favorite. All their other desserts are phenomenal, especially the banana Napoleon. Be sure to make a reservation.

This was my first time here and I certainly plan to go back. I gave it 4 stars because my steak was a little on the Chewy side but everything else was fantastic. We started out with the Artichoke and Spinach Dip. It was awesome. I got the sword of John Adams and this thing was something else. It came out on a Giant Sword and was definitely an A+ for presentation! Can't wait to get that again. The Wife had some Fish that was prepared in a Bag and it was very flavorful. It's a great place and I can't wait to go back and experience a little more of it.

Well I have to say my expectations were pretty high based upon the recomendations I received from family and freinds. We had a 7:00pm dinner reservation for eight of us and we were sat right about 7:10 on a Sat night wich was prety busy. I was initially impressed with that , however the next 20 mins we waited just to order our drinks soon showed me how the night was going to go. The whole reason we went was to try the Bison/Buffalo steaks which they (according to their own website) are known for. They were OUT! The waiter said the Bison steaks were so popular they ran out...what? He said Friday they served 75 steaks. I guess 75 steaks seams like alot in South Bend , however we came in from Chicago and 75 Steaks are what Didka's , Morgan's , Sullivan's or Lowrey's serves in an HOUR! So they did have a Bison appetizer...a thinly sliced piece wrapped around a scallion...The waiter said they just won an award for it! I guess if it was warm it would have tasted better. All in all the food was just OK. If I want to go somewhere in South Bend and have food that "pops the senses" in your taste buds , I'll stick with The LaSalle Grill Downtown or Tippecanoe Place. Just as a final note: Our waiter claimed to have been with the owners for 7 years at their other location. Well not sure what that location is , however I imagine it's a bar......he messed up and gave my brother a Gin and Tonic instead of Vodka...when brought to his attention he appologized , then Picked up the Full Drink and "CHUGGED IT" right there at the table! I couldn't beleive my eyes! WOW- real classy!

My husband and I had a wonderful visit. The food was excellent, the slow cooked lamb and the shrimp ravioli were both perfect. The waiter Kevin was extremely knowledgeable with the wine and beer selections and made great suggestions for each. He also knew the menu well and described each meal very well which made the selection process difficult as we each wanted to try several. We are from the Dallas TX area but found this to be one of the top restaurants we have been to. We will be going back again over the weekend as we entertain relatives from Chicago and Milwaukee.

Short Rib burger...okay. Beer selection...good. Service....good. I will second the review that stated about the bar seating. Make sure and let them know ahead of time if you don't want to sit in the bar area if there is a wait. I ate the Short Rib burger and it was good but the toppings, bun were pretty plain. Mothers Milk draft, rare and amazing as your dessert! I will return and have the Sword of John Adams meal, you have to see it to believe it.

Having read mixed reviews huibby and I were going to just stop in for a cocktail and head out someplace elee for dinner. At 630 on a Friday night we belly upped to the bar and ordered cocktails. Hubby had a Flat Tire beer and I had a Pomegranate martini, drinks were awesome, goat cheese hot dip with Pita chips as divine, I ordered a Margherita Pizza and hubby had Duck. Both good. Seemed to be a bit of a blue collar "hell yeah" sort of crowd, Friendly bartenders. Bill with two drinks each, appetizer, dinner and tip was $85 so not bad honestly. We'll try it again I'm sure then I'll have an a true opinion of this joint.

Very very good. Some of the best fine dining around here, in my opinion. Beats LaSalle Grill in quality, quantity, and creativity. Drinks are a little on the pricey side, but whatever. They raise their own bison a few miles south of here, and grow a lot of their own vegatables down there as well, I believe. When you try the bison ribeye, you'll understand what a huge difference this makes. This isn't just a steakhouse, however. The sauces, soups, and appetizers are all very flavorful, fresh, and innovative. There's always some kind of spin going on with the specials; stuff like oxtail ragout with turnip-infused polenta gnocchi is de rigeur. The portions are unbelievably large. Cool atmosphere... it feels like you're hanging out at some industry magnate's northwoods hunting lodge. Service was a little bit cloying and obsequious, but you'll get that way when you wait hand and foot on Granger soccer grandmas and their spawn everyday.

My wife and I ate at Corndance Tavern tonight, and we were blown away. This is our new favorite restaurant. Everything from the food quality, menu (simple, but with fantastic daily specials), ambiance, and staff was impressive. Our server was Nick P., and I would recommend asking for him. He knew the menu, knew the flavors, and didn't steer us wrong. Definitely the kind of guy that takes pride in being the best, and we were lucky to have him. Our soup of the day was great, our appetizers (Portabella fries for my wife, and Poblano cheese fondue for me) really floored us. I don't like mushrooms...at all...and I wanted to order my own Portabella fries. I can't do them justice with a description, just try them. The Poblano Cheese fondue was smoky and great. Main Courses were Black Bean Burger and Sword of John. Both were excellent. Black Bean Burger had a great flavor and stayed together well, and the Sword of John is a great choice for anyone who wants meat and something different and special with each visit. Dessert was Molten Chocolate Cake and Summer Cornet. Both were beautifully plated, and the Molten Chocolate Cake was moist and appropriately named (couldn't get my wife to share her cake, but we each shared the other courses...too good not to). The Summer Cornet is just perfect. I'll order it every time it is on the specials. Overall, best dining experience we have had in the area. We will return, and have set the goal to try the entire menu.
