One of the best places for breakfast anywhere. I use to come to Mishawaka for meetings about six or seven times a year for two years. Breakfast was the highlight of the trip. I've brought several people here for breakfast and all they can talk about is the great breakfast they had. Not only good but it is the most filling breakfast you'll ever have. I also have always had great friendly service too. I Stop here anytime I am traveling through the area, what a way to starts the day off. I wish they had a place like this near me.

If you are looking for cheap and tasty diner type fare this is the place. The apple pancake is phenomenal but takes a while to make.

Love there food and you get a good helping too.

My favorite breakfast place in this area! Lots of options to choose from on the menu, huge portions, and reasonable prices. The food is served rather quickly after it's ordered. I've never had a bad experience at this restaurant. I lost track of how many times I've been there. I will be back!

Husband ordered the country fried skillet and he loved it. I ordered an omlette with fruit and a side of bacon. The first omlette had to be sent back because it had an ingredient I couldn't eat (and asked to omit.. kitchen mistake) but they recovered nicely on the 2nd attempt. Nice server. Responsive to special requests.

Seated to a still-sticky table. Not even quarter-full of patron. Waited 10 minutes, no waitress came over to even offer water. Walked out. Went to restaurant across the street. Got water and ordered faster than the wait at Pancake House. Talked with a former employees of pancake house. Informed of various food preparation horrors. Do not go.

Been to much better places. Food came out cold. Small servings. We had make your own skillets and the cheese wasn't even melted. Coffee was nothing but water with coffee essence. Disappointed.

I ordered the fritata and it was OK. the pancakes were dry and hard. service was good but the food overall was below average. French toast looked like I made at home with a slice a regular bread. Not impressed but service was good

We love American Pancake House. You get a good, well sized, quick and inexpensive breakfast! It is nice to take kids because of how fast they serve you. You can get your bacon to order and their OJ is delicious. I always get the 1 egg combo, over easy, with bacon and sourdough toast! Remember, 1 egg equals 2 here!

I really wanted to like this place because their parking lot seems to be ALWAYS over flowing. Plus, I'm a sucker for cheap "truck stop-esque" breakfast places because they remind me of my home town. :) Unfortunately....I had a really bad experience here though. When I got there it took quite a while for my waitress to get to my daughter and I. I wasn't upset though because I'm a waitress myself-- and I understand how it can get sometimes. The baby wasn't too upset because the hostess brought us a bowl of melon and some waters right away. Thats the baby's favorite food... so it started off not too bad. Anyway, I also looked at it as the chance to get a good look at their extensive menu. By the time she got to us, I gave her our full order. The waitress let us know that it was only her 3rd week there and she was overwhelmed. My food came out extremely fast... but I had yet to receive my daughters meal, drink, and a refill on my coffee by the time I had finished half of my breakfast (My daughter finished the other half) We waited about 15 minutes after finishing before the baby got restless so I walked to the counter to get a manager to see if we could have our bill and get the kids meal taken off. There was no one to be found. The biggest disappointment was to hear all of the staff bad mouthing each other, the owners, and the work environment. While I was waiting to pay, I just started to notice how unhappy everyone looked! It made me sad to think of all this negativity! I finally tracked down a frantic looking lady that appeared to be a manager and asked her if we could cash out. I explained the situation and she actually took care of the whole meal in apology for our poor experience. I think I would go back one more time to give them the chance to redeem themselves! The food wasn't that bad... I just hope the service gains a smile on their face and adds some teamwork to their business plan!

I give it 2 1/2 stars. It was super busy when I went and I can understand sometimes things happen. But some of my food was cold and I was on a schedule so I did not want to send it back and wait. Luckily the portions are pretty big do I was able to eat half of my breakfast and just take the rest home to eat later.

Hi,I'm in this pancake house in grape rd, service really sucked. First they called our name but when they took us to our table, it was not ready so the bus boy comes to clean and yes he apologized. No silverware, our waiter just comes and pours coffee in our small cups without even asking what we want and then leaves. Shortly after she comes back take our orders and go, comes back again and she was like ohh I should have brought you guys big coffee cups. Pretty much the service sucked she was scattered everywhere like a crazy person. No tip def for her and I usually leave big tips.

I was very happy my parents took me here for breakfast the last time I was in time. I ended up getting a Mexican skillet with chorizo sausage, hash browns, onions, cheddar, jalapeños, and scrambled eggs. I am sure there were other things mixed in, but these were the things that stood out in my mind. Spicy, cheesy and comforting. It would be great for a hang over :) My mom got a Benny Hash, I believe it was called. A spin off of Eggs Benedict, it included hash, poached eggs and it also looked very good. It was a busy morning, but service was great and everyone was friendly. I would be in here a lot more if I lived in town!

While the food was good and service was fine my breakfast was interrupted by a foul mouth manager who walked through the prep area cussing. Them she started in on other employees saying she is only making $10 an hour and they will just have to wait on her. She said several other nasty comments so as I left I asked if the was in charge and she said yes so I told her she needed to watch her mouth. I tipped my server and told her I would never be back. It didn't seem like this was the first time she has done this based on the reactions of the other employees.

They were shut down for five days due to all of their critical violations from the food department. Of this doesn't say it all I don't know what will. Gross

Went for breakfast. Got basic pancakes with bacon. Greeter seemed put out as I arrived and asked to be seated. When I asked for a specific type of seat, she rolled her eyes and condescendingly met my request. The prices are definitely on the high side for basics. Reasonable if you get a skillet item or such. Server was indifferent, but she got the order exactly right. I could have stood to have my coffee warmed another time or two. It was not very busy. The food was generically fine. Not hot, but not cold. Ordinary taste and portions. I would never make a special trip to come here. Depending on how busy it is, I'd just as soon go across the street to the Bob Evans.

This place is just plain good eatin' in a classic diner setting: vinyl booths and grandmas and grandpas congregating to nurse their coffee over the morning paper's crossword (the gf and I are always the youngest in there by multiple decades). Nothing you won't find on the menu of a hundred other diners: those greasy/crunchy hashbrowns (slathered with tabasco and ketchup for me!), pancakes the size of dinner plates, omelets that look like deflated yellow footballs stuffed with cheese, veggies, and ham. In short, hangover grub par excellence. The gf and I have eaten here for "brunch" at 1 pm, and we've eaten here at 6:30 am after all night studying, and the food never fails to lull us into a warm, comforting food coma. Waitstaff is no-nonsense but never unpleasant.

At the top of my list for breakfast places. I know there are other good choices on the menu but I almost always gravitate to the standby Eggecellent meal. Eggs, potatoes, choice of meat, and a couple pancakes. You can't go wrong. Consistency over time is always big for me, these folks deliver; at both the Grape Rd and Mickinley locations.

The wife and I were very happy with the service and the breakfast we had. The waitress Samantha was very nice and helpful. We will definitely be back again.

My husband and I LOVE this place for breakfast. He pretty much sticks to the Mexican skillet, a marvelous concoction of hash browns, chorizo, cheese, jalapenos, and topped with 4 eggs. It's delicious! You even get toast or pancakes on the side for only $8.95. I often get that, but I branch out too - the pancakes are wonderful and fluffy, and their apple pancake is to die for. We've always had good service, the coffee is decent (they have REAL half-and-half on all the tables!), and the prices are reasonable. We take all our out-of-town guests here and there's never been a complaint.

Good waffles, apple pancake huge and sweet. Service good. Very friendly staff.

It takes a special place to remain consistent with their food and this place is wonderful. Their build a skillet is to die for, as well as, their raspberry pancakes. You cannot go wrong with the fresh sqeezed orange juice either. Food portions are huge so you can save money by sharing:-)

The first time I found a hair in my biscuits and gravy, I was willing to give them another shot -- mistakes can happen. The 2nd time, I was just grossed out and will not go back.
