We found this local restaurant threw yelp, and boy was everyone right! This place was amazing! Our server Madison was the most attentive server we have ever had! The food was amazing! We both had the prime rib and crab legs, which were phenomenal! For desert I had the triple chocolate ganache, mind blowing! Will have to make this an annual trip!

There is no question in Lafayette if you want to eat special food and be treated like you are an important person, Mountain Jack's is still a top consideration. However, I get the impression that lately they are resting on their laurels. They used to pride themselves on offering a fresh fish of the day. We were there for Mothers's Day & I wanted the walleye until I found out it was farmed. Eww! There was also a ridiculous wait even with a reservation because evidently the dish washer was broken. However, we "settled" for the prime rib which was spectacular, as usual.

Bet steakhouse ever! My husband and I go whenever we get a date night. The service is great and if there is ever any problems they are super fast to fix them.

This is THE ONLY PLACE in Lafayette that I miss after I moved to Sun Diego. Hands down for the best prime rib in Lafayette. The prime ribs at Mountain Jack's are the bestest, bestest, bestest!!! I mean you can totally tell it was a happy cow when it was alive, the meat was soooooooo juicy and flavorful... the perfect beef flavor! Don't forget the au jus! I love you MJ!

Atmosphere was pleasant. Steak flavor was good, but way under cooked. Steamed vegetables were hard and barely cooked. Salad was fresh. Deserts were poor. Better deserts at Walmart bakery. Service was about C- to D+ level. Way, way too expensive. Don't ever plan to return.

Best seafood linguini I've had in a long time. Great steak. Early bird dinner has same entrees but much lower prices. 5::00 to 6.00 pm. Service excellent

First time there last Fri for pre-wedding dinner, w/9 others. Had the prime rib, & it looked good, but had absolutely NO BEEF FLAVOR -- none! Just a hint of mild seasonings; may as well have been eating tofu. I love a good piece of beef, so this was really disappointing, esp considering it's their calling card. As for the rest, I had: Crispy onion strings: wonderful Garlic mashed potatoes: OK, but not much garlic Table-side salad: yummy! Since we were a big party, our waitress just put 2 of the salad wheels right on the table, so we probably got more than is usual. Ranch dressing was very good; all ingreds very fresh. Chocolate mousse pie: really good, but esp the dense chocolate cookie crust. Our waitress was superb -- very attentive, explained everything, answered all our questions, suggested a wine that was really good. Such a shame that the very thing they're known for was pointless.

We were traveling all day and stopped to stay overnight in a nearby motel. We looked online and found Mountain Jacks. Such luck!!!! We had a fabulous meal in a relaxing and pleasant environment. We completely enjoyed our experience. Our meal was fabulous. The steak, ribs and prime rib were excellent.

Horrible service and the restaurant is freezing cold. The waitress interrupts and talks to us like we're children. We may be old... but we're not stupid. Lose the squeaky pre-school teacher voice and you'll get a decent tip.

This Mountain Jack's location is the only one left anywhere. The manager of the store loved the concept so much that he bought it for himself and for his customers. Everything is done very well at Mountain Jack's. The produce and toppings for the table-side salad are always very fresh. The sides are also freshly prepared and well presented. The seasoning on the prime rib is perfect. They slow-roast their prime rib bone-in, and you can choose from three different sides. I have not been displease with anything I have ordered from Mountain Jack's in the whole time I have visited the Lafayette store. The ambiance is very warm and inviting with several fireplaces in the restaurant. There is a cloak room adjacent to the bathrooms that has an attendant at least some of the time. Their servers are professionally dressed and attentive. Parking is ample, though you may have to park in the back. Mountain Jack's is the perfect spot for any occasion. They have private dining rooms for rehearsal dinners, bar seating for a more casual visit, secluded booths for more intimate dinners, and is a destination for many prom goers and other special events.

I give it a 10, a 10, I said a 10!!! Hands down the best steaks in the greater Lafayette area. I repeat all of the positive reviews before and would encourage all of the negatives to try it again.

Beat thing is the good food and nice quality of the steak. One bad thing is the chef walk around and ask about the opinions from other customers so nicely but avoid me, since I'm the only one Asian customer there? I paid 60 bucks for the dinner and extra 15 for the tips!

Were in Lafayette to visit Purdue and stayed overnight. The hotel recommended Mountain Jacks & it was nearby, so we tried it. The atmosphere is not the greatest, but the food and service were excellent. Wish I remembered our waiters name, he was attentive and had a great sense of humor! We had the spicy shrimp and potato skin appetizers, they give you fresh, hot bread as well. The made at your table salad bar was a nice addition with a lot of toppings to choose from. I had the black and blue ribeye, medium. It was excellent. My son had the lamb chops....they gave him 4....and he said they were very good. You get 2 sides with your dinner, plus the soup or salad. More than enough for even a large appetite .....like my husband, who almost couldn't finish his meal. The wine list do pretty good and the drinks from the bar are made very well. Overall, I would highly recommend Mountain Jacks if you are in the lafayette area looking for a nice dinner. Prices were reasonable for what you get.

Avoid if you can..the table side salad and potato skins were the best parts of the meal. Unseasoned filet and barely warm mashed potatoes that we waited for almost 2 hours..at least the shrimp scampi was tolerable. Hot water for tea to go came with gross stuff floating in it..

Mountain Jack's used to be a chain, this 'Last of the Mohicans' location has a rustic exterior and throw-back interior, but is not dated when it comes to the menu. They house-cut their salmon filets, and do a great job preparing them. Good size portion with choice of seasonal fresh sides, and traditional offerings. I started with the Caesar Salad - which was excellent - and got fresh green beans and steamed broccoli, both cooked just right. I had an outstanding meal here, and finished with a choice from their able selection of whiskies. I recommend giving Mountain Jack's a try!

We were in town to visit family and had one of the best meals of our vacation. The food was excellent, the service good, and the price reasonable for the quality of food. For two of us the bill came to around $53.00. They offer a tableside salad as part of the meal where they bring all the fixings out to your table and make it just the way you want it. My husband had the black and bleu ribeye and said it was fantastic. I had the filet and it was also great. If I lived in the area, this would be my go to restaurant for a great steak. The interior of the restaurant was very nice. We were there around 6 PM on a Saturday and got seated right away.

Suspicious of a chainy look, but encouraged by reviews, we checked out Mountain Jack in the way from Chicago. Freshly spoiled by Chicago restaurants, did not have spectacular expectations, but we were impressed by very solid fresh food and quality of service. The table-side salad bar looks like a giant artist's palette with lettuce in the middle and the choices of trimmings around it (cucumber slices, tomatoes, red cabbage, croutons, mushrooms, cheese, etc). The server makes your salad based on your selections at the table. The house-cut prime rib (1.25 lb) will probably last me 3 meals and is a both delicious and a good value. Wild rice pilaf had very few grains of wild rice sprinkled through its white cousin, but the green beans were impressively not over-cooked. Maybe next time we will pace ourselves better and leave room for the tempting-looking carrot cake.

My wife and I (from northeast Illinois) met good friends of ours from Kentucky in Lafayette IN. for an overnight visit. We decided to have dinner at Mountain Jack's and arrived around 8pm. I had the bone-in prime rib and it was beyond great. I like it rare and it was perfect, the flavor was fantastic. Great Prime Rib! Both wive's ordered the filet mignon and each raved about their meals. My friend ordered the NY Strip and he also raved about the meal. They have a table side salad bar which is unique. The service was very attentive There is a reason this restaurant rates well.

After a long day on the road, we decided to book a hotel in Lafayette at the Red Roof Inn and Mountain Jack's was right next door. Checked the reviews on google and on here, all of which were glowing. We pulled up a little past 9 (in our Penske moving truck with our car attached to the back) in their parking lot, which we didn't realize at first, checked in to our hotel and ran over to eat. We walked in just past 9:20 and asked to see if we could leave our vehicle(s) parked until the morning which the manager graciously allowed. Upon being seated we asked if we could possibly unload the rest of our bags into our room and freshen up really quick, knowing they closed at 10. They let us do so and even saved our same table for us. We were back by 9:35 and placed our drink/app orders which came very fast and were delicious, and the bread was great too. We had the crab cakes and French onion soup, which for two people with high expectations were better than expected. For dinner we split the New York strip (10oz) medium rare, which unlike some reviews I read was actually juicy and full of flavor, with broccoli, table side salad bar (awesome), a "loaded" baked potato, and the Au Gratin potatoes (didn't "wow" me but were a nice addition to the meal), and lastly carrot cake for dessert which we brought back to room as it was nearly 30 minutes past close. This place was exactly what we needed after 16 hours of driving, excellent service-- especially from our waitress Christine. Every employee greeted and served us with a smile and we never felt like a nuisance. Definitely would recommend this Midwestern gem!

Amazing steaks! I will have to say it was only a decent environment for the simple fact it was dated. White table clothes with a candle in the center. The hostess is very friendly and tells you about specials as your being seated. The salads are very fresh, and everyone I was with loved their meals just as much as I did. Timely service, and a very polite staff. The staff was able to answer any and all questions my group had to ask. As your eating you will find you have a main server, server for drinks, and someone there just to remove your plates when your finished. One thing I thought was very cool was every time I go there at least once every 30min or so you will see the chief come out and ask people how everything taste. What an engaged chief. VERY COOL!

I went on a date and we were looking for a place that serviced quality seafood and steak. As soon as we got there, i noticed the ambiance. Very classic, kind of darkened, and had wood lounge feel. The food was delicious. we ordered about 3 meals. loved the bread and Alaskan crabs. sadly, the steak I ordered didn't have as much flavor as I would of liked (I should of asked for some A1 sauce but didn't). The server was a favorite part of the experience for sure. I liked seeing someone who was constantly smiling and happy to do her job.

Not too bad. The food was good, but lack of seasoning on steak and potatoes was annoying . The wait staff was excellent and were very attentive. The calamari app was sublime. Excellent for the area, but has a little work to do to get 5 stars. Will be back for sure

Wow, the food at mountain Jack's is heavenly! Ok, first I will say that this place needs a major update, or at least a very good cleaning top to bottom. But after the food arrived I stopped caring about all that! I had the forest mushroom chicken which melted in my mouth, my husband had the ribeye which he said was cooked to perfection. We talked to the couple seated next to us, who were regulars, and they said to be sure to order the fillet when Wayne is working, he's a master chef! The table side salad bar was unique, fresh and delicious and our server couldn't have been any better, he was so friendly and really went the extra mile. The only problem with this place is that we live too far away! We discovered this gem passing through on our way to Indianapolis, and we can't wait to pass through again!

This review is not about stars, but about Lobster. After we read the review about the horrors of eating warm water lobster we worked hard to compose ourselves from all the laughter and got busy calling our friends and family in Florida to make sure they were still alive since warm water lobster in Florida is considered quite the catch. This is not to say that warm water lobster is better than your typical cold water Maine lobster, but rather to say that millions of Floridians would beg to differ with its hazard to your health. Now on to the restaurant...we would prefer a more open, well-lit, up-to-date atmosphere, but everyone around us seemed to be enjoying themselves and the service was friendly. The steaks and sides we had were good and we would recommend this restaurant to others.

I came to Mountain Jack's as part of a wedding rehearsal dinner - a big group! The wait-staff was very good and also professional; they all introduced themselves and the service was excellent. They also did the good-doing of explaining each dish and how it was prepared. For dinner, I tried the house-special: Signature Prime Rib, fantastic! Very tender and prepared to perfection with house seasoning and horseradish sauce - the potatoes were also very good. They explained dessert in the same fashion, I went with the carrot cake, again a house specialty - very rich. I had a great experience here and would recommend Mountain Jack's for any romantic or special-occasion meal.

Had a great experience here last night. The atmosphere is very cozy, a great place to take your date. Service was very friendly and reasonably prompt. I was impressed by the server's apparent excitement about the menu. I had the NY Strip and my girlfriend had the prime rib. Both were cooked perfectly and very tasty. The prime rib was exceptional with a rich, herby flavor. For dessert we had a classic creme brulee which was very tasty. Only reason for four stars is a couple missteps: My steamed broccoli was served cold and I did not receive the mushrooms that I ordered with my steak. I am sure they would have happily remedied these errors upon request, but I was too impatient to eat!

I'll keep this short and sweet... Pro's: Wonderful service. Delicious and nicely presented food. ( I had the Tilapia Westwood, w/garlic mashed potatoes, and sauted green beans) The table side salad bar was fresh and tasty. We had a large group and that did not present any problems at all. Attentive, polite, and timely service. This is a steak house but they had several different seafood options, but nothing "vegetarian"... though with the sides and the salad and appetizers it would not be hard to select a delicious meal. Cozy ambiance with a nice fireplace when you walk in. Con's: The decor is outdated and in full light probably a bit rough around the edges so a remodel would really step this place up a notch to match the great food they have. For being a "fancier" restaurant the women's room was not very nice, or clean. I've actually seen nicer bathrooms in newer fast food restaurants. Again, a remodel is in dire need here. We sat in a large group room so I did not see much of the rest of the main dining area. Overall: This place could use a remodel, and maybe a good deep clean of the nooks and crannies, but the service was excellent (which is sometimes rare in this town), the food was well prepared and delicious with a nice selection, they had a nice wine selection, and I really enjoyed the cozy, low-key ambiance. None of the "con's I listed would deter me from recommending this place or coming back.

Everything was great except our steak was under seasoned. We'll cooked but not seasoned enough. Great ambiance, nice atmosphere, romantic decor, friendly service.

Got the ribeye, which was very tasty. Standard issue baked potato and broccoli. Was carry out so I missed the table side salad but was given the salad ingredients I requested and it was good. Boiled egg would have been a nice touch. Bread was tasty as well. Nice upscale atmosphere with polite service.

Mountain Jacks was one of the first restaurants we visited when we moved to Lafayette about two years ago, and we were favorably impressed. Nice atmosphere, and pretty good food. Unfortunately, it seems that all that remains is the nice atmosphere. Relatives were visiting and we decided to visit this weekend but we were not very happy. On the plus side, the service was good, the table side salad was good, and the side dishes were good. What was NOT good was our steaks. Tough as an old boot. That was both mine, and the wife's. My guess is that due to the rising cost of beef, the restaurant is ordering a much lower grade than in the past to keep prices in line. Personally, I'd rather pay the price and have a good steak, than to gnaw on an old piece of leather.

The 3 D's--dark, dank and dirty. Had I used the restroom first I would not have asked for a table. This is supposed to be a nice steakhouse? Then clean your carpets, and paint your walls, they are filthy. Now as for the service--well, it wasn't horrible. Butt it wasn't friendly either. The food? Get a new chef because the owner is paying for a really bad one. Let's start with the appetizers--they tasted like they came out of a box in the freezer section. The salad was over dressed and tasteless. There was a rotten spot on my baked potato. The prime rib was sliced very thin and the veggies over cooked. It's sad really because a little town like Lafayette could clean up with a good restaurant and decent chef. We pass through there every week on the way to Indy--we'll keep right on driving through next time--no reason to stop! I don't understand why this place has 4 stars!

Mountain Jacks is probably my favorite restaurant in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area. I've been here several times throughout my time at Purdue and the food and service has been consistently good. You have the option of either a cesar salad or to make your own. If you choose to make your own they come over with a large tray with all different salad toppings that you can pick. Their dressings are home made and delicious. Their calamari is delicious and not too heavy. I have had their lobster and salmon and both are really good. Their prime rib is supposed to be really good too, I've never had it but other people I go with always get it. Lastly, their deserts are the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. They always have their signature dessert which is a really large portion of a mud pie. I've had their creme brulee too which is creamy and delicious. Their food is fine dining quality without the price tag and you don't have to dress up in your best to fit in. It has a very homey feeling to it which I enjoy.

THIS WAS THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. For starters the hostess was completely rude to us, and I could hear her talking about how much she disliked her job. My boyfriend ordered the stuffed filet that everyone has been raving about and ordered it medium. It came back completely raw like it was seared for 30 seconds on each side, dripping in blood and completely inedible. He also ordered a side of crab legs, which were undercooked, dry (how can crab meat be dry) and tasted absolutely disgusting. I ordered the lamb chops cooked medium, which were prepared horribly and consisted completely of gristly fat and small amount of completely raw meat. I will say that our server was very nice but THIS WAS THE WORST MEAL I HAVE HAD IN YEARS. I had a burger at Burger King prepared better than my meal last night. NEVER GOING BACK EVER AND YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER.

Mountain Jack's is one of the best restaurants in Lafayette. The prime rib is good, but the Filet Mignon Westwood Style (hollandaise and crab meat topping) is to die for. Everything about this place is homey, cozy, and comfortable, serving elegant comfort food dishes with a side of class. The peppercorn whiskey sauce is incredible and so is the Chocolate Mousse Pie. Their take on the classic French Onion soup is also divine. You have to try those! The staff is so nice and well educated on the menu. I have been here about 10 times and I have never been disappointed. If you love a great steak, you need to try here!

First things first: the filet mignon was delicious! I got the chef's special brie-stuffed version, and the part without the brie was the best. I wish I hadn't shared a bite with my whole family. :) Everyone really enjoyed their dishes - prime rib, crab legs, and NY strip. Our waitress was top notch and we truly enjoyed ourselves. I'm sure this will be our new "nice family dinner" spot when we are all in town. Went in jeans and a nice shirt and we were fine - you could dress up a little or down a little if you'd like, we saw both.

I was hesitant to try this place but was plesantly surprised. The staff was so friendly, they were efficient, professional and attentive. Our meal was hot, fresh and generous. The prime rib had a slightly cafeteria-like flavor but that was really my only "beef" with the place:)

read some reviews and thought we'd check it out. old school interior almost like a library. sinatra and other classics playing softly in the background. would be a nice place for a date nite. our waiter was Nate. Nate was def a pro, excellent server. knew the menu backwards and forwards and helpful (without being pushy) with recommendations. started with shrimp cocktail and thought it was a bargain to get 6 jumbo shrimp for only 8$. nate then brings over a salad tray with all the different ingredients you could ask for and prepares your salad right there in front of you to your liking. very cool. we both wound up getting house cut prime ribs, my friend was very happy with his dinner, cooked perfectly. my end cut wasnt perfect and when i mentioned my issue to nate, he offered to replace it immediately (now dont go trying this if you've eaten half LOL, id only had a bite or 2) which i graciously took him up on. he came back a few minutes later and we were good to go. my friend also expressed that he was happy with the mashed potato side but the onion rings were pencil thin and looked like they were for the soup. i thought potatoes au gratin were done quite nicely but the asparagus were a bit on the scrawny side. finished up & was pretty full so we passed on dessert but saw the dessert tray and the offerings were very tempting. overall a pretty good experience. not a 5 star place that you might find in NYC or vegas, but a very reasonably priced steakhouse in lafayette indiana worth recommending.

Steakhouse not the buffet... don't be fooled, this is not the Mountain Jack's buffet kinda place, this is Mountain Jack's Steakhouse. I've only seen one of these places and its located right here in good ol' LAF. I discovered this place after crashing a wedding rehearsal dinner (i was invited, just not by the bride :0) ) I had a salmon dish garnished with garlic butter sauce that i must admit was pretty good. I'd sure go back, especially if i could find another wedding to go with. From the intimate lighting and room setup, i'd say they were going for a business casual dress. They also server beer and wine, but i can't tell you what kind.

Mountain Jacks had a few locations around Indy, so when we decided to take my mom to Lafayette for her birthday, we were thrilled to see one still existed! We were promptly seated in the quiet dining room. Decor needs a little updating (old mauve wallpaper and duck photos everywhere), but that doesn't distract from the fabulous food! I got the Chicken Kiev Linguine, which was cooked perfectly, creamy, and wonderfully flavored with red peppers and asparagus. The broccoli, which might seem silly to rave about, was delicious and perfectly cooked (you'd be surprised how hard it is to find someone who cooks it perfectly). I ordered it with the au gratin potatoes which were layered and then covered in cheese and flavored with rosemary. The salad alone is worth going for, though. The server comes to your table with a giant tray and a big lazy Susan full of cups of ingredients (cabbage, carrots, banana peppers, cheese, croutons, sunflower seeds, cucumber, etc.) and you tell them which ingredients you want them to put on your salad. No more salad buffet loaded with germs! My mom ordered the tempura shrimp, which was perfectly cooked. Tempura batter was much too thick, but still tasted great. She ordered it with wild rice pilaf and onion strings. My partner ordered a perfectly seared and seasoned strip streak that came out the perfect temperature and was likely the juiciest steak we'd had in a while. Once the dinner was over, the servers come to your table with a plate of deserts to see what is on the menu. The owner of the restaurant, a surprising delight, came by the table and checked to see how our meal was and talked to us about the previous two restaurants in Indy. Great experience. I do recommend you give them a shot if you haven't yet.

Came here for NYE dinner with my boyfriend and had a good time. I ordered the steak and lobster tail and he had the baked walleye. I loved my dish, but my boyfriend thought his was ok. What bothered him the most were bones in the fish filet.. Maybe because it was NYE, our table was located right next to the kitchen door and at a blind spot where the waiters had to say "corner" every time they walked by! That was a little annoying.. Overall, the food tasted great!

Mountain Jack's is my go-to steak place in the Lafayette area. The steaks, salads, and ranch dressing at this place are as good or better than any other steak house I've been to (including stupid expensive places in Chicago). I highly recommend stopping into this place for a splurge dinner or special occasion.

Not to bad if your looking for a nice place not to be seen at! This establishment is like walking into a "Dark Cave" w/ a faux fire place I could not even see what the waiter was serving from the curbside salad bar....is that fresh cheese or what? The service was an A-... Charles, the waiter never even asked if I wanted Steak Sauce on my beautifully prepared pepper corn steak!!!!!!! Bad very bad! But the company I was with was great! "My wifiepooo."

***LOBSTER WARNING*** RULE #1: Always ask if the lobster you'll be eating is native to cold water or *WARM WATER*. RULE #2: NEVER eat *WARM WATER* lobster. STATISTIC: 1 out of 5 *WARM WATER* lobsters are bad due to disease or improper handling from sitting dead before processing and not flash freezing. IDENTIFY: The tainted, diseased or spoiled *WARM WATER* lobster meat will be grey or black, specifically at and around the leg area of the tail. EFFECTS: Food poisoning that will land you in the ER, possibly fighting for your life. THE DEAL: Shortly after submitting my dinner order I saw another diner being served a lobster tail. I notified my waiter as he was walking past to add one to my order. I failed to ask the cold/warm water question at the time of ordering. When my dinner arrived at the table I noticed the lobster tail was black on the bottom side. I explained my concern to the waiter about the dangers of eating such a creature and he retrieved the manager for me. I first asked the manager to remove the lobster from my bill and showed her the black tail meat assuming right away she would see the obvious. What she told me next was shocking. First she unknowingly admitted that they serve *WARM WATER* lobster as if it were some kind of delicacy and I should know no different. Secondly she said that *WARM WATER * lobster were SUPPOSED to look like that!!! She was kind enough to remove it from my bill. FACT: *WARM WATER* lobsters are known in the industry as "trash fish" They are absolutely bottom of the barrel when it comes to health, quality and flavor. Cut rate and uneducated restaurants will buy these for fractions of a penny on the dollar and sell them at the market price of a cold water, living Maine lobster. SUMMARY: The uneducated manager and wait staff is either being misled by the owner/food buyer, or the food vendor is conning the uneducated owner/food buyer. Either way, the people serving this stuff believe it to be perfectly normal and safe to eat and are informing the patrons all the same!!!

Great food! They had a little bit of a wait, even on a Wednesday night, but it was worth it! They've got a delightful warm, lodge ambiance, and the food is succulent. I highly recommend the Steak Dijon paired with the seasonal vegetable and broccoli!

Mountain Jack's is one of the top five restaurants in Lafayette. It is a multi-course, fine-dining restaurant. I have eaten there dozens of times, and have enjoyed each and every meal. The staff is good, the food is better. the only downside is it can be pricey, and due to the multi-course layout, your dinner can easily last 2 hours.

Mountain Jack's is one of the best, if not best steak restaurants in Lafayette. Anyone can find a cut of meat they enjoy as MJ's offers almost all varieties. They also have toppings that you can add to the steaks for more options. My favorite is the Filet Mignon Westwood style. And, the French onion soup is the best I've ever had. The only thing MJ's could work on would be presentation. Sometimes when i order, the plate looks a little messy and thrown together. Other than that, the place is great. Go try it, you will not be disappointed.

If you stop reading right now, just know that Mountain Jack's is a very nice steakhouse with reasonable prices and good food. I went to Mountain Jack's yesterday for the first time. I enjoyed myself quite a bit. The restaurant is nice inside but not overly classy in a stuffy sort of way. The waitstaff were great too. We had a large party, and the restaurant was very busy, but our waiter kept our table happy. My family and I were very satisfied with the food. My family had steak, the prime rib, and ribs all of which were very good (I sampled ha ha). I had the salmon which was very well cooked- flakingly tender with a nice bit of crispiness from the grill. We also highly enjoyed the table side salad bar. Deserts looked great as well, but none of us had the room. Prices were fair especially considering that your meal included soup or salad as well, in addition to fresh crusty bread. I recently went to McGraw's as well. Mountain Jack's does not have quite as much of a classy feel to it, but the food is better and lower priced.

(5)Jeff F.

(5)Joyce C.

(5)Bobbi C.

(5)Christopher L.

(5)Julie A.
Avoid if you can..the table side salad and potato skins were the best parts of the meal. Unseasoned filet and barely warm mashed potatoes that we waited for almost 2 hours..at least the shrimp scampi was tolerable. Hot water for tea to go came with gross stuff floating in it..
(2)Jim M.
(4)Heidi B.

VERY COOL!
(5)Dani S.
Amazing food! Love the salad wheel. There are no French fries here! Fancy and cozy. Great for a romantic type date.
(5)Jamie S.
We had a wonderful meal and excellent service at Mountain Jacks. Food is fresh and very well presented. Comfy cozy atmosphere.

(4)Bryan W.
Not too bad. The food was good, but lack of seasoning on steak and potatoes was annoying . The wait staff was excellent and were very attentive. The calamari app was sublime. Excellent for the area, but has a little work to do to get 5 stars. Will be back for sure
(4)Jen S.

(4)Scot C.
(4)Houston F.
(4)Eric B.
This is my destination restaurant in Lafayette! The Spicy Shrimp appetizer, The table side salad service and the Prime Rib on the bone make it a meal worth coming for!
(5)John S.
First time here. Great service. Wonderful steak. Black and bleu ribeye so awesome. Thank you everyone.
(5)Adrienne K.
(4)Shay L.
Everything was great except our steak was under seasoned. We'll cooked but not seasoned enough. Great ambiance, nice atmosphere, romantic decor, friendly service.
(4)Julie S.
(4)Dana A.
I can't vouch for the steak here but the dishes I have had have been good. The table side salad bar is neat and we've always had pleasant service.
(4)Ed P.
(2)Veda P.
(1)Michele W.

(1)Stefanie S.
(5)Tina M.
(4)Allison C.
I was hesitant to try this place but was plesantly surprised. The staff was so friendly, they were efficient, professional and attentive. Our meal was hot, fresh and generous. The prime rib had a slightly cafeteria-like flavor but that was really my only "beef" with the place:)
(3)Kenny S.
read some reviews and thought we'd check it out. old school interior almost like a library. sinatra and other classics playing softly in the background. would be a nice place for a date nite. our waiter was Nate.
(3)Joey C.
Great food, fair price. Another great place to celebrate a special occasion in Lafayette. Love the build-your-own salad bar they bring to the table!
(4)dsk a.

(5)Noelle F.
Best restaurant in Lafayette for a special occasion, date, or night out with the family. Prices are very fair for the generous portions. Service is excellent.
(5)Rachel P.
(4)Jim A.
Mountain Jack's is my go-to steak place in the Lafayette area. The steaks, salads, and ranch dressing at this place are as good or better than any other steak house I've been to (including stupid expensive places in Chicago). I highly recommend stopping into this place for a splurge dinner or special occasion.
(5)Michael B.
(3)Ng T.
They have the BEST prime rib in Lafayette, Indiana!!!

(1)Jessie L.
Great food! They had a little bit of a wait, even on a Wednesday night, but it was worth it! They've got a delightful warm, lodge ambiance, and the food is succulent. I highly recommend the Steak Dijon paired with the seasonal vegetable and broccoli!
(5)Michael S.
(5)Jim M.
Great steaks, great service, very reasonable prices for the quality of food.
(5)Sofia S.

One of my favorites! The 1st thing that comes to my mind when I think of Mountain Jack's is Steak! The 2nd in Béarnaise sauce! This is the only place I could find in town that serves Béarnaise sauce. As starters I would recommend their calamari that is served with fried vegetables & drizzled with a chili aioli. Very tasty!! They normally have a good soup of the day or your choice of Caesar or House salad. With their house salad they actually bring it to your table where you choose which toppings will go on top of your salad. When it comes to the main course, there should be a separate menu with the recent chef's selections. On that menu (which changes), I really think you should be fine. Anytime I have ordered off of it, the meal has always turned out great! On the traditional menu I would suggest a steak! This is what Mountain Jack's is known for.
