This place is beautiful on the inside. The service is super friendly and the baked goods are beyond good. You grab a silver tray and tongs from the front and walk around and load up on all the delicious goodies you think you can eat in a few days. They don't use any preservatives so it won't last forever but that doesn't matter because they're so good you'll want to eat it all when you get home. Don't be deterred by the lack of prices or labels, everything's basically under a dollar. Most everything I got was 75-85 cents with a couple of the "fancier" things being $1.25. Don't hesitate to ask them how much stuff is though. The priciest thing we got was a huge strawberry cup layered with whip cream and it was only $3.50. They also have tamales, fresh fruit and juices at the fruit bar. The "Mexican Wedding Cakes" or Polvorones are the best I've ever had. And if you have questions they're more than happy to answer them. I highly recommend this place.

Awesome! An authentic Mexican bakery! Something to counteract the clunky, big-box, themepark-like, tex-mex-esque, Don Pablos-type chains! (Andrea's not a fan.) I came upon this place looking for a quick bite before a carwash at Fast Eddie's across the street, and feeling curious. Had read some Yelp reviews about a place called Mama Ines not long ago (See "Mexican Bakery"), and saw the name on the sign. Had no idea it was just opening until I overheard someone mention it--apparently they were in a smaller venue previously. Business looked great that day; the place was thrumming with life. The facility is lovely, just very pleasant as soon as you walk in. Looks like they even have a banquet hall, all beautifully set up in white - I imagine for "Sweet Fifteen" Quinceañeras parties, but also weddings -- The cake displays in the windows were gorgeous. The atmosphere of the bakery did fill me with memories of travel to Mexico and Central America... Grab a tray and tongs and start working your way around the room. Prices are extremely reasonable for the various breads and pastries. (I hope noone talks her into inflating them, because that will be part of the draw - It is for me!) Be prepared that the pastries are not an overdose of sugar; they are more muted, often more of a sweet bread. I had a Mexican wedding cake type cookie, a crunchy pink macaroon (?) thing, and a guava-jelly turnover or pie. (They were out of cajeta ones, more's the pity... dulce de leche, akin to caramel.) I hit up the juice bar at the back for a fresh strawberry (licuado?). Divine!! A woman then helpfully directed me toward the more lunchish offerings I was targeting. Turns out she was the owner/proprietress, Rosa Montoya, very gracious and friendly, and clearly very personally involved! I had a delightful pork-with-green-sauce burrito. I have to be honest, the only undelightful thing about it was the bit more fat it had than I would have liked. In my experience (Central America, Asia), other countries/cultures do not so religiously trim the fat as many Americans do. Might be a difference of resources, or custom, or our desperate need to reduce our caloric intake generally. But I'm being picky in saying that, cuz it was one fine burrito! If you're a big eater, choose several - There were at least three kinds. I also had them pack me up some tamales from the steaming pots by the checkout... The two women there were quite friendly and apologized for not having perfect English - Again, this is an authentic experience! I LOVE knowing that the people cooking my Mexican food are... Mexican! (Or, Mexican-American. Or other Spanish-speaking.) And their English was fine, so they needn't have worried. I expect their non-Latino business will grow by leaps and bounds in their new location. I know this is a bakery, not a restaurant, but a suggestion I'd make is to create a little space outside with some casual tables, picnic tables or the like, just to munch at briefly before heading on your way. And, one thing I regret about this visit is not trying the Tres Leches cake! Next time. For now, I'm off to eat my tamales.

Great locally owned bakery. Was very very impressed with the baked selection. I love tres leches cake and theirs is one of the best I've ever had. Great selection, great prices, and friendly staff. Highly recommended. Plus tamales for $0.99!

Incredible selection and prices. I come for groceries, snacks, and any other time I possibly can. Very friendly people, always willing to help. Wonderful to have here in Lafayette! Everyone should go.

Our experience of Mama Ines has always been GREAT! We got their tamales and burritos for the first time recently and were impressed with the spicy-factor of the burritos. The green-chile chicken burrito was very very tasty. Chile flavor was perfect and spiciness was perfect too! I would say it was VERY spicy for a lot of people. Coming from Los Angeles, where Mexican cuisine is often straight from Mexico, I would say the pastries and tortas were very authentic and first class! The price can be steep if you buy a lot, but worth it. One of the most gourmet churros I'e tasted! BARGAIN deal: Day old breads are sold in 6-7 pastries each bag for a very discounted price. The Greater Lafayette area needs some more independently owned bakeries. Mama Ines is always our go-to when we are looking to get a dozen pastries.

So many pastries to choose from at such a good price. This is a must go to bakery! They have many varieties of both savory and sweet authentic Mexican pastries. Can't wait to go back!

After visiting my first time, I'm in love. The selection is huge and the staff so helpful and warm. You start by grabbing a metal tray and tongs, then walk around and load up your tray with amazing goodies like bavarian cream stuffed churros and cream cheese pastries.the Napoleon was the best I've ever had. They have a fresh juice bar that I can't wait to try out and different tamales at the register.

This place is amazing! It is such a fun experience, just picking out your pastries! You go in and take a big tray and some tongs before touring the large cases of beautiful (and delicious) Mexican pastries. There is a great selection and it is really fun trying new varieties! Also, this place is incredibly inexpensive. I am always so surprised at the cost because it seems like we picked so many pastries and the cost is almost always under $10. They also sell tamales that are very yummy!

Mama Ines is adorable, delicious, fun, and inexpensive. My boyfriend and I love coming here and walking through the different pastry windows and picking a selection. As a european, he always hated the lack of cute little bakeries in town and Mama Ines does a great job filling the void. The food is always fresh and delicious. The servers are friendly. The birthday cakes are top notch quality. And the tamales are reallllyy good too! I would just really love it if the owner could add some seating. It seems like she has enough space and there seems to be a dining area which can be rented.

Fantastic bakery! My husband and I bought a sampling of pastries and bread. Everything was fantastic. So many wonderful things to try. The interior is full of charm! So well done. My only wish is that there were a few cafe tables and chairs inside or outside to enjoy a coffee and pastries on site. You must visit! It will become a regular stop of ours when in town.

We ventured into the prior storefront, which was small and unpretentious, after dinner across the street at Taco Rico. We were pleasantly surprised at the variety and the reasonable cost, and we kept coming back whenever we made our way to this part of the town. Mama Ines now has an impressively huge storefront but still great price. Best place to get dessert. We really enjoy cookies, canoli, cream-filled horns, and doughnuts.
