My favorite Mexican restaurant in Lafayette. They have really good beef tacos, chicken taquitos, and the best queso hands down.

If you are looking for commercial Mexican food, don't go here. If you are looking for Mexican food, go here. I had the Stuffed Jalepenos appetizer, then the shrimp tacos. Two glasses of the house Merlot (only Merlot choice). The stuffed Jalepenos were just ok, the Shrimp tacos were really good. The wine, huge glasses for $5 a piece. All, with a $5 tip, total $30 and change. I left happy. Not top end, but enjoyable and full. Will go back and try other dishes.

I would have to say, that my family and I will probably go back soon. But we might try the other location in West Laf., may be the interior will be a bit more pleasing and cleaner so you could enjoy the food more! About the quality of the food....We still can't seem to find any "MEXICAN FOOD" that compares to Cali'!!

Typical but good Mexican food. I usually get one of the vegetarian combos. The lunch specials are priced well but less veggie-friendly. The margarita "special" seems to the be same price no matter what day of the week it is. And the margaritas are delicious no matter what day of the week it is. Prices are pretty middle-of-the-road . The restaurant is located right off I-65 so it's an easy stop if you're looking for something other than fast food. I've always experienced speedy and friendly service.

I had to sober up before writing this review - they will definitely over-serve you without you knowing/asking. Beer is cold, which is a plus. Food was very greasy, especially for a vegetarian dish. Atmosphere was bland and the staff really didn't seem to have any sense of professionalism - although my waitress was very nice. The medium size margarita contains at least 5 shots worth of tequila, so be careful. Prices were decent for the area, but overall, the experience wasn't worth it.

Been a regular here for a few years at this location, as it is near home. My favorite Mexican in town. The food is excellent, the service is fast and friendly. Best salsa for the chips around in my opinion. LOVE this place.

Bland, uninspired, and disappointing. Everything looked and tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave. Tortillas limp and pale, ground beef unseasoned, and the shrimp in my "shrimp tacos" (literally nothing more than a few seasoned shrimp rolled inside each of three flavorless double tortillas) were no doubt better back when they were freshly sautéed. The fluorescent-lit decor is garish and unpleasant, and the music coming from the kitchen (along with annoying giggling fits from what sounded like a couple of drunk women) was loud and inconsiderate.

Very positive experience here on a Wednesday nite. The food was excellent, service quick and efficient and the portions were generous. We had steak fajitas and chimichanga. The place is clean. They were playing lively Mexican music and the cook was even singing from time to time.

We stopped here on the way home from Chicago to Columbus, about 8pm on a Sunday. I was super glad they were still open - we aren't really fans of fast food on the road. Overall this was your pretty standard Americanized Mexican fare. The interior left a bit to be desired (pretty much one big harshly lit open room), but I'm sure the atmosphere is a bit different and more lively during busier times. The food was okay. I got a cheese quesadilla with beans & rice on the side, bf went with a taco and enchilada. My quesadilla was good, toasted well and came with guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and tomato. I'm not sure it was worth $9, but oh well. Beans & rice were a bit bland, but hot sauce perked them up a bit. While no one really NEEDS multiple baskets of chips, I thought it was interesting they charge you $1 for seconds (spotted in the menu), but when she asked if we wanted more she did not mention the charge. I bet they get a little extra out of people this way. I've had better, I've had worse.

The only reason El Rodeo gets 3 stars is because they have a great location by a lot of the hotels in Lafayette (right off 26 and the frontage road) so it is an easy walk/drive and they have an awesome MONSTER margarita that is not to be missed! The food is totally forgettable. Unseasoned ground beef. Over cheesed. Tomato sauce labeled as red sauce. They have no idea what a chile relleno is (I got cheese over pepper slices and beef). I think the management is banking on the fact that they don't get a lot of people who eat real Mex in Lafayette, IN. This isn't even Americanized Mex, it is cheesy, unseasoned, bland food. Go for the margs (which were awesome and huge for a good price) - eat somewhere else!

Food was mediocre and service was slow - the server actually forgot about us for a while and admitted to it. But the monster margarita was truly monstrous and only like $9.99 and had a huge amount of alcohol in it, judging by the way I felt afterward. I got a "fried" chmichanga, which is how chimi's should always be, and it was definitely a little bland. But it was a good amount, so I guess that was good.

The waitstaff and manager here were really nice, and when I mentioned my shrimp issue, the manager came over, and said he would make sure my food was done in a pan instead of on the grill, just to make sure. The green paint in the dining room, and the broken ceiling fan took away from the niceness of the place, but the food was quite good, and the service was excellent. Seems popular, the place was packed when we stopped in.

The food here is not spectacular by any means. If you want good Mexican food in Lafayette, then go to Taco Rico. The service is only mediocre; I think I saw my server twice the entire time we were in the restaurant. And the ambiance leaves something to be desired--even the lighting seems sickly. So why anything above two stars? The margaritas. Oh, good gracious, the margaritas. You'll pay for them, to be sure--a frozen raspberry margarita set me back about $10--but they are delicious and strong. If you really want to get crazy they have a punch bowl-sized margarita. (I'd recommend staying with the medium.)

Love their cheese quesidilla and their burritos tipicos! Always good service. Chips and salsa are very good also.

US 65, Exit 172, East side of highway. No semi's allowed in parking lot. Food was EXCELLENT! Would have given 5 stars if the ladies room was cleaner. It wasn't too bad but floor was sticky and out of TP. Will def go again.

Well this is California food it's MEXICAN food and it reminds me of a place in Mexico that I used to eat at every time I visited and it was great the service was good and the food was extremely good!!!!! Yes the walls are lime green but who cares about that when the food is this good?! I know I would prefer better food then atmosphere! The chorizo ques was great nice not to spicy Mexican sausage, the soft shell taco melted into my mouth and the rice and burrito topped it all off for a great food experience! I could eat the taco's from here any day all day every day! YUM!
