Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I love Rocky's! I cannot get enough of the bread that is served with dipping sauce before the meal. The Eggplant Parmesan is a must for vegetarians. Delicious! If you like SangrÃa, I recommend trying their white SangrÃa. The outside seating offers a wonderful view. In addition, Rocky's offers curbside service, which is prompt.

Rocky's was just O.K. I can't say we'd never go back, but I won't be in a hurry to return. If we do go back it will be to sit on their spacious patio in the evening and enjoy drinks and a river view. The decor seems confused in this place...part laid back sandwich/pizza place and part wanna-be Mediterranean villa. The place has the air of neglect. There is damaged stucco on the building exterior, built up gunk in the corners of the rooms, the windows had old peeled sticker residue on them, the chairs need a good Murphy soaping and there were multiple damaged tables and booths. Overall nothing a good weekend scrub down wouldn't fix. We noticed the bar area was much neater than the rest of the restaurant for some reason. The servers were all very neatly put together and the hostess and waiter were nice. The service was good, but again nothing to write home about. The bread comes to your table in a bag, which is a cute idea, but the bread was a huge miss for us. It was super soft when, in my opinion, it should have been crusty. The 'Italian butter' on the table was made with cheap pre-grated (fake) Parmesan. Our food came quickly and my husband's meatball sandwich was better than the average sub shops, but the sauce was one dimensional and the cheese was bland. My Margherita pizza was surprisingly good. The biggest complaint was that the inner 2/3 of the pizza was limp...an indication that their oven wasn't hot enough. The pizza had real fresh tomatoes, fresh mozz. and, a surprising, drizzle of balsamic vinegar, that really saved the day. While I didn't get pasta I don't think I'd recommend it. The plates of spaghetti coming out looked mediocre at best...with piles of red sauce plopped on top instead of tossed and the salads were messy bowls of ice burg lettuce with bagged croutons. I will say that the chips that came with my husband's sandwich were superb and should be touted there. They are either house-made or a high quality artisan chip. They were thick cut, crunchy cripsy and had a great seasoning on them. Those would make a great appetizer with melty mozzarella and marinara or tossed in a freshly grated Parmesan cheese and cracked black pepper. If you like mediocre Italian-American fare then this is the place for you. Another Jeffersonville restaurant that COULD be a great spot, but it just missed the mark for us.

Okay! You're air conditioning isn't functioning as it should be so leaving the place open that way isn't an option. You either get it fixed or you close. It's that simple. And when people come in and ask you why it's so hot inside and you tell them the airs not working properly, AND you then tell them the air is only working in one section but that one is closed, you should expect a lousy review. So, you're getting one. One last thing: no, I don't want to sit outside in the 90 degree heat as an option to not sitting in the dining room that has no cool air.

Enjoyed a late dinner on the outdoor patio. Good friendly service. Calzone on the small side for dinner, but perfect for me - more importantly, crispy exterior, good balance of cheese and pepperoni within, side of basic marinara was really very good. Pasta Rosa for my husband - enjoyed, but could have benefitted from spicy sausage. Would return.

So love dining with a view of the Ohio River. Excellent View inside and on the Patio. Thought we would stop for a sub but the menu lured is into something Italian. We were seated immediately with our choice of inside or outside and the service was excellent! Our drink orders were taken and we received a small loaf of Panini with Parmesan cheese and freshly ground pepper; the olive oil was already on the table a perfect combo for the warm bread. I am a big Calamari fan, even though it can be risky. The Calamari was lightly breaded and fried to perfection, very tender. It was served with an excellent Marinara sauce. My side house salad was crisp and had an excellent pesto vinaigrette dressing. My husband had a prosciutto and cheese Calzone, it too, was served with homemade Marinara sauce. We were both very pleased with our dining experience and will go back again.

It took half an hour and the manager coming around just to get a server and our order put in once seated. Beer took another 10 after that. Although the server was friendly, Inattentive service the entire meal. I ordered the triple smoked BBQ pizza and it was good, but the thin crust tasted like a communion cracker haha. Exactly like one. My wife ordered the margherita pizza and it looked horrible and she said it didn't taste very good either. I had never been but had heard good things about it. Needless to say, we won't be back. Shame :/

Not a great experience for Saturday lunch. We were seated quickly however had to wait another 5-7 minutes for our server to join us. She seemed tired and impatient and service was slow. Perhaps they were short staffed but the restaurant did not even seem half full to warrant slow service. The food was mediocre. The best part is the view from the patio. Not sure if I'll give this place a second try.
(2)Sarah C.
I really like this place. Last time I got the spinach manicotti with a side of chicken. It was delicious! The chicken was a little overcooked, but that was my only complaint. Our waiter was very nice. I love sitting out on the patio looking over the river to Louisville, weather-permitting.
(4)Brittney T.
Nom, Nom, nom. $7 pizza with unlimited toppings?! Have I died and gone to heaven? Check out the view! That's some prime real estate and great parking. Also, catch up on the history of this place and never go to a franchise pizzeria again if you are within a 30 mile radius! I have been there only four times and have since moved to Chicago, but when I return to visit you can be sure I'll stop here! The Giuseppe was my all time favorite. Artichoke hearts!!!!!!
(5)Mj K.
We took some out of town guest. The menu has been cut by more then half. When the waitress came to get our order she said. "What do you want lady?" She bought out the cheese and oil but we had to ask for the bread. The food was better this time. Last time we went it was so bad (dirty menus, bad food and poor service) I called the manager and was given a 25$ gift card to use on my next visit. That was today. I'm thankful the weather was wonderful and perfect for dinning outside, that's why I'm giving my NOT my favorite place any more 1 star.
(1)Misty S.
What's not to love!! 32 beers on tap, awesome view of the river, great atmosphere, and the pizza is killer and cheap to boot! Fried Zucchini good choice for an app too. Mix beers from all breweries for a $7 flight Great service! Been here a few times on trips down south and have not been disappointed yet!
(4)Carly S.
I love Rocky's! I accidentally reviewed this one instead of the one on Bardstown road where I had a blah experience. This rockys has one of the best views of the Louisville skyline, and I absolutely love the lemon chicken pasta dish with capers. I have never been dissapointed.
(4)Michelle C.
We came here on a Friday night and it was pretty packed. We did get a table pretty quickly though which I was excited about. It is a very packed restaurant, don't expect a lot of room to move around, but I guess it helps with getting in. Our waitress was super attentive and brought drinks right away, and always had water for refills. We placed our order and she brought out bread (which comes in a bag...kinda weird) and some parm cheese in olive oil. Thankfully we had some oil at the table because it needed to be thinned out a lot. We got our salads pretty quick, pretty generic. But then came the pizzas. Oh. My. Gosh! I got the fig pizza and substituted goat cheese for the Gorgonzola. It was to die for! Arugula on top of the fig jam "sauce" with candied pecans, bacon and goat cheese. AND it was only $7!! I could only eat four pieces so I got to have the other four for lunch the next day. The only problem we had was getting the check which took a little while, and parking was a bear. Other than that, everything was delicious!
(4)Angela Z.
Dear Management: Please train your host staff to be more courteous to visitors. No one likes walking through a restaurant to look for friends who've already been seated. A simple retraining will help host staff learn that this is rude. They can take a name and seat the late customer at the table with courtesy and a menu (and, gosh, even take a drink order?). Not only was I offered to walk the restaurant, but so was my friend. We both had to go and retrieve our own menus and then return for a roll of silverware. During our stay, we then counted a total of five people who were walking the restaurant to find friends. I felt embarrassed for them, and expect more from such an iconic restaurant.
(2)Jen B.
Eh. Food was okay, one pizza delivered was wrong. We weren't super impressed but it wasn't horrible either. The beer flights were nice and there were tons of choices to pick.
(3)Hollee J.
This place is amazing! Situated right on the Ohio River, patrons can watch the water traffic while enjoying dining on the patio. I have had several dishes from here that are all AMAZING but my absolute favorite is their Figgy Pizza on Artisan Crust! It is such a unique flavor combo but delicious. And the best part is that it is only $7! You must try this place--it won't disappoint!
(5)Eric M.
Decent enough Italian stand-by for folks on the Sunny Side of the Ohio, and it sorta recently relocated smack-up against the riverfront, with a killer view of Kennedy Bridge and Louisville skyline. If you want to sit and eat while indulging in that view, you'll probably have to wait for a table. Meanwhile, the other 50% of the restaurant without a view will remain mostly empty except for weekend nights. The food is adequate, but I found the pasta to be the weakest part--a pretty large Achilles heel for an Italian restaurant. The whole wheat penne might have been legit, but it sure didn't taste any different from the more conventional "white" pasta. The bruschetta was barely toasted bread with diced tomatoes, parmesan, a few flecks of basil. Tasted healthy; tomatoes were fresh. Didn't seem like the indulgence I was hoping for with bruschetta. The best part was the entree salad--a girlie little apple-and-mixed-greens concoction that hit the spot. Service was friendly but very slow, considering we sat in the no-man's-land away from the riverfront. The variety of draft beers looked VERY impressive, but apparently that only increases the likelihood of screw-ups; one of the guests in our party was convinced that the Sam Adams he ordered was a Blue Moon in disguise. My guess is the view will always be this place's biggest selling point.
(3)Christina C.
After passing over the bridge from Louisville into Indiana (by accident actually) we caught sight of a gorgeous river side patio and it was nearly sunset. In Louisville to run the marathon the next day, a big ol' plate of pasta was in order. Perfect! - we hoped. On the bright side, yes the view, the patio and the service were phenomenal! The perfect spot to sit out and enjoy their decent beer list - on an Ipad no less! - and watch traffic pass on the bridge, the lights come on in Louisville, and catch fireworks from nearby Louisville Slugger Field after a Bats game, which we were able to watch as we were leaving. On the other side, the food was mediocre at best. My friend and I both had basic pasta dishes - ziti and spaghetti. I didn't try my friend's dish, although she commented it was alright, but sadly my ziti was one of the saddest dishes of my recent memory. The sauce was watery, the cheese wasn't fully melted, and the only flavor that existed was that of a sprinkle of parsley and a simmered tomato. While the entree was wildly underwhelming, it was inexpensive, and did include a side salad, which was nice. There were about a dozen dressing options. I like options. (Choose one of the vinaigrettes.) Despite having one of the most wonderful views in the area, I just can't see myself coming back here for another meal. Maybe a snack and a beer if I'm in the area next time though...

Ate outdoors. Nice outdoor dining area. We really enjoyed the view, and my daughter loved the friendly birds and a groundhog(?) that came looking for food... Ordered the tortellini dish with pesto, asked for no mushrooms. It came with tons of mushrooms and swimming, just absolutely swimming in the pesto sauce (which tasted ok but there was way too much of it and it was pretty greasy). My hubby and daughter's food was Just OK. Server and service was fine. I guess I would try it again sometime, just to compare it to this trip...

Another great meal! Pizza was hot, drinks were good and cold. Service was excellent as always. Worth the drive from Louisville.
(5)Shane B.
Nestled across the river from Louisville, Rocky's Italian Grill is set right in a prime location to provide a breathtaking view of the city, paired with amazing food and great service. I first visited Rocky's in 2008 on a date. The atmosphere made for a great time, and again, I can't harp enough on the view. The apps were out to us in less that 10 minutes, and entrees in 15, so timing is perfect (and has been on every subsequent visit) If you're in Louisville and have the time, hop across the bridge and check our Rocky's, it has me driving from Lexington at least twice a year, and that says something!
(5)Lynn P.
My BF and my first date so there is a sentimental value here for me. Honestly, though, I have loved this place for years, even when they were located across from Jeff Boat. I always have a hard time deciding between getting pasta or pizza because both ROCK., but my real fav is the salad. The house garlic parmesan ranch dressing is awesome. I get extra on the side to dip my bread in. Warning, if you are looking for an intimate spot, this is NOT it. It is rather noisey. They do handle large groups very well and they have a full bar. They also have outdoor seating in nice weather.
(4)Tiffernayy I.
The building itself is beautiful and its got a great view of the Ohio river although the inside is extremely crowded with an unnecessary amount of tables. Now for the service...They gave us the same pre-shredded parmesan cheese that I could have bought at the local grocery, didn't explain that the random plate of cheese was for the bread they would be giving us and also didn't mention you were supposed to add olive oil to it so we sat there for 10 minutes trying to figure out what to do with a plate of cheese. Our salads came out at the same time as our main dishes so we didn't bother with eating them lest our main dish get cold and my date didn't get a single refill. Overall this is an overpriced pizza joint and I wouldn't recommend it. I'll not be wasting my money here anymore.
(2)Elizabeth P.
Soooo good. I had a great Sauvignon Blanc and Rockys taters that didn't disappoint! Tater tots with chopped garlic, parmesan and an Alfredo drizzle?? I had no idea tater tots could be that good! Great service ( Melissa ) great view and great food. I need to stop being so generous with the stars on other reviews! This place deserved all 5 of them!
(5)Gene H.
Great food. Terrible service. First we did not get any more bread after the first, then our salad and main arrive together, I didn't get a refill either. Our server was friendly, but the actual service itself was disappointing. The table next to us received even worse service as their server forgot items, brought incorrect items, and did it slowly. The table was ready to leave when we sat down, but they probably didn't leave until about 20 minutes later.
(2)M T.
Just left Rockys and extremely disappointed. Been a patron for over 14 years; not sure if I will return anytime soon. Service slow (took over an hour for meal), server seemed overwhelmed, and food mediocre. When I mentioned to host, all that was offered was a cannoli for the inconvenience. I can understand if they were busy but it was a light night at the time we were there. As we left, another couple were leaving without ordering, making similar comments about the service. Hopefully things will get better.
(1)Elle D.
This place has upped their game with their new make your own pizzas! I order the regular hand tossed make my own and it lasts me for 4 meals! Also, great beer selections! The view is great. The service has been okay... could be better. I've seemed to always have flighty servers who take their time in getting drinks and what not. Overall, I really like this place!
(4)Sandy H.
The first time I are here was in 2011. Jan 2011 to be exact. It was my turn to pick the place for girls night out. I chose here because of all he hype I'd heard. It wasn't good. However, I did order some Alfredo dish and we had about 15-17 people. It was cold when it arrived as well. My friend decided to celebrate her birthday here tonight and I must say I was impressed. I had spaghetti and meat balls. It was fantastic. Loved the meatballs and the sauce flavor. Yummy. It was very crowded and loud however but that was expected. All in all, they redeemed themselves with me from the Jan 2011 experience. I will be going back in the future to try more things on their menu.
(4)Shenita B.
Ate here with hubby and kids. Tomato basil soup was delish. Pizzas Supreme is pretty good. Not Mom & Pop Italian but still offers a nice selection of pizzas, salads and pastas. If you can, snag a table outside and enjoy the beautiful views.
(3)Shana K.
Rocky's provides a delicious, locally owned, reasonably priced alternative to chain Italian in southern Indiana. Their restaurant has a casual yet romantic feel with an amazing view of the river and the Louisville skyline. When we were in on Saturday I had the house salad and a chicken calzone. My boyfriend had the cannelloni. Everything was absolutely perfect and extremely flavorful from the garlic Parmesan ranch dressing on the house salad to the crispy crust on my calzone to the delicious sauce on his pasta which was served al dente. We both swore that Rocky's is our new Italian destination.
(5)Jacqueline V.
Like Buckheads next door, this place has a decent beer selection and nice view. Nice to see 3 Floyds on tap. Wednesday is half price wine night. Service was friendly, but sometimes slow. I wasn't really wowed by any of the food, but the homemade salad dressings were delicious. It seems like I'm the only reviewer that thinks the bread is stale, but I can't really complain since it's complimentary.

Mediocre pizza and even less than mediocre calamari. It's too bad that this place is wasting such a good space on the river, as a better restaurant (doesn't even have to be that much better) should have this great location.

Rocky's on the River offers some beautiful views of the river from their dining room. They have an excellent and vast selection of beers, both local and national, from awesome microbrewers. My main choice, Kentucky Ale's Bourbon Barrel Ale was amazing. Great service. Friendly people who are quick to bring everything from drinks to the check. They have a "Beer Pad" which is digital tablet which lets you order a "flight" (a selection of six different beers) from the extensive collection. Beer Pad is cool but it's a little clunky. In the end, paper might have worked as well but the tablet thing is cool and six different beers that I get to choose for $6.99 is a pretty great deal. I ordered the lasagna and it was one of the best I've ever had, anywhere. Absolutely delightfully prepared, great ingredients and it was almost the size of my head which, in a lesser dish might have been a challenge. In this case, I relished the opportunity to wallow in this much wonderful lasagna. I'll definitely go back to Rocky's the next time I am in town. Great service, excellent food and fantastic surroundings make this call a no brainer. And you know what, you should check it out too.

First and foremost; the view of the river is spectacular, especially in the evening. The food is delicious, staff is friendly and we received service in a timely manner.

I miss the old rocky sub-pub sandwiches and food, when they opened this place they changed the way they made the original subs, which I used to love. Now it is just okay and they trying to be to fancy by changing what made them at success in the first place! Bring back the original Italian mound and rocky sub, and then improve the food. I want good food not just good scenery!
(2)Jordan M.
This place a good italian food for a reasonable price in a great location. It is beautful at night to sit next to the river and observe downtown Louisville. The best time to go is when it is warm outside. The outdoor seating really makes the evening special.
(4)Jenn H.
Great food and reasonable prices. Had the pleasure of sitting out on porch overlooking the river on a very pleasant day in July. The wait staff was not the best but did bring everything we asked for( but some things we shouldn't have had to ask for. )
(4)Lorne S.
Awesome food. Good view. Nice ambiance
(5)Bryan W.
Several of our group visiting the area for the week ate here and most of us thought our dinner selections were pretty good and the draft beer selections were excellent! They even have an iPad with a great app for checking out the details of their impressive brew selections. The staff was very attentive and friendly. Overall, our experience was very good and I'd go again if in the area.

We went here last Saturday night when we were in Jeffersonville. It was a toss-up between Rocky's and Buckhead Grill (walking distance from each other on West Riverside Drive), and Rocky's edged it this time. It was absolutely packed but we still managed to get a table for two by a window overlooking the Ohio river and the Louisville skyline. As soon as we were seated, the server brought out warm bread with a dipping sauce made from mixing Parmesan cheese and crushed black pepper in olive oil. Delicious!! We ordered an appetizer of Mozzarella triangles which were crisp and delightful. It almost seemed like they used Panko breading. For the meal, we ordered a meatball sub and a pepperoni calzone - loved both of them. The meatballs are made from scratch in the restaurant and don't taste like the frozen variety you get in the grocery stores. Highly recommended. We topped off this calorie-laden meal with a truly sinful tiramisu. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive despite it being a busy Saturday night, the view is superb, you have the option to eat "al fresco", and the food was very good, especially if you're a turophile like me! I know they are renowned for their pizzas so the next time I go to Rocky's, I'll certainly order one of their famous pies...
(4)Rhea P.
I wanna go back!!!! I lived on Rocky's for about 3 weeks on a business trip. The salad, pizza, the bread and olive oil, and most of all. . .sitting on the Ohio River with a breeze near sunset. . . Good times!!!!
(4)Larry R.
My wife and I went here mostly for the river view, and we were not disappointed! The pasta dishes we had, however, were both a bit disappointing. My wife had the seafood Suprema dish, with the garlic, lemon and white wine sauce had nice amounts of seafood, but the sauce was lacking in all three main flavors, quite bland. It was also very runny. I had the Linguini Rosa, with chicken, sausage, garlic and tomatoes. It was skimpy on both the chicken and sausage. As for the taste... both my wife and I spontaneously said the same thing: "It smells and tastes like something from Chef Boyardee!" So, we will return to Rocky's, but only to try their pizza and enjoy the view.

At the end of our trip to southern Indiana, we met a friend for lunch here. Rocky's had been recommended to us by another friend so we were excited to try it. I must say, dining with the Ohio River rolling by added to the ambiance for us. We loved the beautiful view on this sunny Sunday afternoon. Rick had the Italian Chopped Salad. He enjoyed it quite a bit and indicated that there was quite a bit of meat on this salad - more than average for a salad. Which, for Rick, was a good thing. I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana Rollitini. Think a typical pasta shell stuffed with cheese. But instead of pasta, the "shell" is thinly sliced eggplant, lightly breaded. It was amazing - truly special. It was served with a nice marinara. As a rule, I'm not a big fan of red sauces. They tend to be too sweet for my taste. This one was really very good, being more on the savory than sweet side. The rollitini is also served with a side of penne pasta with more of the same marinara. Our other diner had the bbq chicken pizza. I tried a piece and it was just average to me...pretty bland by comparison to other bbq chicken pizzas I've tried. The atmosphere was casual but there's nothing to absorb the sound of people talking, televisions and music - so that made it challenging to carry on a conversation without raising our voices.

My boyfriend lived in Louisville five years ago, and he's been raving about Rocky's ever since. I surprised him with a trip down to Louisville a couple months ago so that he could eat at Rocky's again and I could finally figure out why he liked it so much. Indeed, it was great food in a fun atmosphere at reasonable prices! We started with a few drinks at the bar - a very nice and friendly bartender served us, and the specialty drink I ordered (I forget the name but it was something peachy with cranberry juice) was delish! We asked for a table by the window overlooking the river -- big mistake. They took us to the back room, which was the only one that had a table close to the window available, and while the rest of the restaurant had a friendly, cozy feel with a fireplace and lots of happy conversation, this room was cold & drafty everywhere, but worse by the window, and much emptier. Plus, they must decide to put the worst servers in the back because our waitress had little personality - and the personality she did have was dull - and didn't really seem to care about providing customer service. Despite the crappy seat and boring waitress, it was a good experience. The Italian wedding soup was some of the best I've ever had, and the manicotti I ordered was also great. Overall, I would definitely go back, but next time I'm going to try to go in the summer and get a table on the patio overlooking the river.

Went here with my mom while I was in town visiting her. I was checking for places to eat on yelp and decided on this one. Unfortunately, yelp steered me wrong this one time. It was OK, but our pastas tasted like they were from Denny's. I expected better from a place that calls itself an "Italian Grill." The bread was stale and it felt like they nuked it in the microwave for 10 seconds before bringing it to the table. The atmosphere and view over the water are great, but those were really the only redeeming qualities.
(2)Annette E.
We ate on the deck on the river and it was awesome. Friendly staff. Coiple mishaps on the food and it got cold by the time we ate but it was still good.
(4)Sarah H.
Rocky's used to by my favorite place to go for Italian food but not as much now. Don't get me wrong I still like it but in recent years the food as gone a little down hill. Because of this I decided to veer away from the spaghetti and meatballs that I used to always order and try the lasagna instead. The lasagna was good and big enough to make two meals. I've always been a fan of their marinara sauce and the lasagna has a ton of it so that was a plus. I think the only thing I didn't like about the lasagna was the cheese on the top. Instead of using a shredded cheese to melt on top they use a slice of either mozzarella or provolone cheese and once you cut into the lasagna the entire piece comes sliding right off. The bread was good as always but the salad was just so so. We also had the fried zucchini appetizer which was good but tasted a bit like the oil used to fry the zucchini maybe needed to be changed, I just got that old oil after taste. Our server was fine and the view is always nice. Overall I will be back, it is a good place to come with the kids!

I ended up at Rocky's after trying to go to another restaurant that I had heard about (Come Back Inn) which was closed. The ambiance was nice with a great view of the river with the 2nd street bridge and Louisville on the other side of the river. We went to order the olive and artichoke fritter appetizer but were told they didn't offer that off the menu any longer. We were disappointed so we ordered our dinner. My table ordered the spinach manicotti, a cheese calzone, a salad and the eggplant parmesan. The salad was missing about half the ingredients that it promised on the menu but when it was brought up to the waiter he was extremely friendly and brought out extra salad items. The Calzone was pretty good and the other items were average. Overall, it was okay. The nice view and friendly service made up for any misgivings.
(3)Lyndsey D.
Just relocated to the area, and in search of non-chain pizza. The atmosphere is fun, the view of the river, the bridge, and Louisville is stunning. We ordered the Mozzarella triangles, and two pizzas (supreme and pepperoni), all of it was delicious. Possibly the best mozzarella appetizer we've had, at least to our recollection. Everyone raved on the crust, which is often times thrown away when we order pizza, but not here. All in all, a good time, will be going back again.
(4)Armin S.
Atmosphere and service get 5 stars but my calzone gets 3 stars. The calzone was like a slightly larger pita pocket with minimum ingredients. My colleague had a 10 in thin crust supreme pizza which was very good.
(4)Courtney E.
Great service. Overall food was decent, but wasn't outstanding. Although I did just have a pasta dish, and not any signature meals, I was overall pleased with everything.
(3)Alysha L.
For the pasta, The Olive Garden would be a better bet. I came here for lunch on a business trip and was informed by the hotel staff from around the corner that this place was great, in fact one of the best in the area. I'm suspect of their motivations (are they getting paid to say that?), because this place was mediocre at best. I got the carbonara. For one, a carbonara sauce is egg based with a bit of parm or cream to thicken it, and usually just covers the pasta a bit. This stuff was swimming in some kind of butter and processed cheese sauce that seems like it was made hours if not days ago, had been separated, but then stirred and reheated before serving. It was supposedly a chicken version (usually served with bacon or pancetta), but there were only about six small bites of meat in this big bowl of sauce. My server was fine although I question his opinions because he said the carbonara was his favorite in the menu. The place kinda smelled like used wet dish towels also. I used to work in food service and the smell hit a very familiar nerve. The view was nice. Would have been better if there was any seating available on the deck. Not to say that the place was busy, but all the chairs outside were leaned over and none of the tables set for service =/ Overall they get a resounding "meh"
(2)John M.
I was a regular in the past and stayed away for a while. My return visit was no better. I'm not sure what Rocky's wants to be---it seems to want to be an Italian restaurant, but it is failing. I ordered chicken parmigiana which is an Italian American classic. The sauce was fine, nothing special, nothing bad. The chicken was a bit overdone, but the pasta, penne, was really sad. It was obviously pre-cooked and dipped in boiling water to revive it. It was very starchy, not hot, and very overcooked. I am of Italian background and overcooked pasta in an Italian restaurant is just unheard of. The service was okay and the salad and bread were fine, but overcooked, cold pasta was not. My wife had spaghetti and meatballs and had the same complaint. My daughter's pizza, however, looked quite good and she said it was good. I'll try it again in 6 months. Maybe.

Rocky's is a bit of a mixed bag. It's a great p[lace for lunch and a great place for drinks, but not somewhere I frequent for dinner. The Good: BEER! Rocky's has a tremendous beer list with plenty of regional craft beer and seasonals cycling through all the time. It's the best beer selection in Jeffersonville. Don't miss "Draft Days" where all pints are $3. Soup, salad, and bread. Rocky's has great fresh bread which they serve over "Italian butter" which is grated parm, pepper, and olive oil, nice fresh salad, and good soups. The lunch special is only $6 and come with an unlimited supply of all three. The Not So Good: Unfortunately, I've not been very happy with the actual main courses I've gotten in the past. The sauces were a little bland and the sandwiched were... I don't know... underwhelming. In Summary - Head to Rocky's for lunch and few few beers next Saturday, but skip this one for dinner :)
(4)Sherry H.
went after long day of work for take out pizza, sat at bar outside when waitress went to take smoke break and left many customers unattended while a storm was blowing in and temperature was dropping quick. finally got pizza 50 min later, it was ok but not great.
(2)Lianna N.
If you want a great view of the Ohio river and good Italian food this is the place to go. Do not eat the Chicken Marsala.
(4)Romel A.
Entrees are reasonably priced & tasty. Pizza is thick with ingredients. Salads are extremely tasty especially with the inclusion of tomatoes infused with herbs & spices as a new addition to the salad. The bottomless salad offering is a filling meal in itself. One major downside is that Rocky's recently changed their signature bread from the traditional herb-laced loaf to a brick-shaped bun that tastes more like a roll.
(4)Scott P.
Food is great. I had a simple spaghetti and meatball dish that was really nice. The service is lacking speed and consistency. Understaffed by 2 servers at least. Great for kids and family dinners. The atmosphere is a 5!
(3)Katie G.
I go to Rocky's for the pizza. With the olive oil from your bread still on the table to dip the crust in, there really is nothing better. I absolutely love the red wine vinaigrette dressing and the tiramisu. That pretty much sums up every meal I want when I go to Rocky's. The ravioli is also great. Try it with the Alfredo sauce for a different twist; it's awesome. Great location and nice view of the Ohio River if you sit out on the balcony (even a nice view from the window-filled dining room area). Really missed it when the Rocky's on Westport closed, but it's totally worth a trip to Southern Indiana.
(4)Quiet R.
Thank you reviewers! Everyone was right on with this one. The weather was perfect, so the patio was worth the wait. We sat at the bar while we waited and enjoyed a Blue Moon & the drink special which was sweet and yummy. We had the pesto breadsticks for an appetizer--good (not great). We ordered off the "Right" menu which had smaller portions. It was plenty! There was bread with olive oil & cheese plus a salad before the meal, so by the time our entrees came, we were prepared for leftovers. Not really authentic Italian, but way better than larger chain-type Italian and the riverside seating couldn't be beat. I was a very happy girl.
(4)Robert H.
We ate at Rocky's based on a recommendation from our Motel and was disappointed. My meal was good but my wife's egg plant parmasion was terrible. The menu said it had mozzalarell cheese with marinara sauce and it was served without the cheese. Both the waiter and the manager told us the owner decided he would serve it without the mozzerella chesse the previous week. We were not told it was changed and the food was terrible; the eggplant was over cooked and can you imagine having egg plant without cheese. We did not ask for a refund or a different meal, we will walk with our wallet. There are too many good restaurants and they do not deserve our money. The view is good but after all you go out to eat for the food. There are other restaurants in the areas that have a good view and hopefully better food. This place is off our list and we do not recommend it to anyone.

Great view. Great food. Fast and friendly service. Need I say more?
(4)Joy S.
My mom and I stayed at a B&B down the street, and discovered Rocky's on our first night. This was three years ago, and I'm still raving about the pasta! I had a chicken alfredo, and they made it perfectly as ordered - and it was the BEST alfredo sauce I've had in my life!!! And that's saying a lot, cuz I love pasta. My mom, who doesn't usually drink, and hates the taste of alcohol, really enjoyed the italian lemonade. We had a great time with the food and the gorgeous view of the river!
(5)Jeff W.
I miss the old Rocky's before it went all upscale and moved to the river next to Buckheads. There you could get a huge pizza and a beer and enjoy life. Now...well... you can still get a tasty pizza but the price has risen and the size has fallen. In fact my biggest complaint abour Rocky's is the portion size. I rarely EVER leave a restaurant hungry and yet I'm never satisfied after eating here. The food quality is good but not great. Service is usually pretty good. Wine list is average but could be better, especially for an Italian joint. The decor and restaurant itself is very nice.
(2)T W.
service is slow here . but food is good. i usually get the eggplant parm -yummy. this time i tried the itilain wedding soup. OMG like the 2nd best soup i ever had. ( the best was at Volare italian on frankfort ave in Louisville) ive been craving it since i had it last friday. If i work late one night i will fight bridge traffic or maybe take a long lunch and get some this week.i like sitting out on the patio and looking at the ohio river -great feature of place. would give more stars if service was better. was here in may and had slow service then also. ( had good service in march) I just didnt think when i was one of the first tables sit (party of 8) at 11:15 am that we should be there 2 hours. .
(3)Chris P.
Great food and great view! The staff here is next level. Stayed on top of beer and drink orders (of which they have an amazing selection). When a mistake happened with the food ( and this can and will happen with EVERY RESTAURANT now and then); not only did the waiter, disputed not having any control of the situation, but the manager came to apologize. They fixed the situation with a smile and made us feel like we were important to them. Amazing to find a restaurant in which everyone takes SOO much pride!
(5)Jeff M.
Happened to be at the Sheraton in Jeffersonville and spotted this place out the window. Saw on Yelp that it had good reviews so we gave it a try. SO glad we did! This place had nice ambience, good service and GREAT food! Portions were enormous so keep that in mind. We had to throw about half of our food away. Half price appetizers and half price wine (on Wednesdays) were both added bonuses. We ate like Kings for a very reasonable amount. The Pasta Rosa was incredible, but everything was good. Our next trip to Louisville will definitely include a stop here.
(5)Shelly P.
It had been a few years since I had been there, the first time I wasn't very impressed with the food that I had gotten. The atmosphere and the view of course helps with that. We decided to try it out again and I went for basic pasta marinara and grilled chicken. The chicken had no grill marks whatsoever and seemed like it had been possibly microwaved? The chicken, pasta and marinara did not have very good flavor and I barely ate my food. I am sorry to say I am still very disappointed. Plus on top of that the service was super slow and they weren't that busy, still tables open. Can't say I will try it again.
(2)Kristie T.
Been going here for years. Calimari is great, pizza also and the pasta is so yummy. They have 32 Draft beers at all times which is my favorite thing about them. Popped in there for lunch today and was pleased to find out Fridays are $1 off Flights so I enjoyed that and the half Cannelloni and the soup of the day was a shrimp and corn chowder. I'm getting hungry again thinking about it. I don't eat the fresh bread and dip they give everyone, but it looks good.
(4)Art C.
Ordered two calzones from the place, one pepperoni, one cheese. They were so thin and small it look like pita bread. The cheese was basically garbage and the pepperoni was very limited. Really I wanted to drive all the way back to slap someone for thinking this is somewhat close to a calzone. One bite from both and tossed. If you eat this and call this Italian, then you don't know Italian then. Garbage!!!
(1)Liza W.
I had takeout from here a few nights ago... Our order was missing a few items but by the time we realized, we were almost to our dinner spot at the park and not about to head back. No napkins or plastic silverware either (nor were we asked if we wanted any)...may have just been an oversight on all the things. The paninis were ok (not a lot of meat or veggies on the insides- maybe we should have gotten subs), the salad was standard side salad, but the rolls were pretty amazing. Overall I'd probably come back to try pizza, sit on the deck (the view is great), and grab a drink but would forgo a sandwich.
(3)Jason A.
The view is what sells this place, service was good, food was slightly below average. This wasn't my first choice as I'm not much of an Italian food fan, so yeah I ordered salmon, the only fish dish on the menu. Salmon was dry, I understand cooking salmon requires a fine line between undercooked or dry but hey that's what I'm paying you for. Vegetables were mushy, didn't taste fresh either, straight out of the frozen food bag. Maybe this is what I get for ordering fish at an Italian joint so part of this is my fault, don't know if I would come back here for pizza as I want someone who does pizza and pizza only. Maybe I'd be surprised. The jury is out just don't order the fish.
(2)Brandy V.
Dined her on Friday night with a rehearsal dinner and it was not good. Service was slow, but the server(s) were definitely trying. My dinner came out well before my husbands so I was done before he even got his dinner, otherwise mine would have been cold. Food was good once it finally arrived. Probably would not be back.
(2)Mary R.
Went for lunch after walking across the Ohio river bridge. Not a fun walking distance if it is hot outside. Service was slow to even speak to us, but very polite. The food was good. But the menus were very dirty, with food stuck to them. Not a good first impression. One of the 7" pizzas is plenty to share for a lighter lunch.
(3)Kelly Y.
Casual, crowd-pleasing Italian food with a view. Hubby and I are new fans of this place! After our little visit to the Howard Steamboat Museum, we found this surprise in Jeffersonville. The place a lot bigger than it appears from the parking lot. The atmosphere is more casual bar than romantic place with view. But the view is undeniable from the large patio. This place must be packed during Thunder! I ordered the eggplant rollatini while hubby ordered their supreme personal size pizza. I liked my main course fine but the highlight of the meal was the Italian wedding soup. I love this soup and order it wherever I find it on a menu. Rocky's has the best version of them all! The broth is light and not too salty like it came from a can. The olive oil and parmesan cheese dip for the bread is also a nice surprise. Hubby's pizza had toppings to the brim. Although he has a huge appetite for pizza, he could only eat half of the personal size. Rocky's has daily drink and food specials. I can definitely see us having a drink and eating some pizza on the patio during warmer days. I will be getting more wedding soup!
(4)Stephanie M.
Used to go to Rocky's frequently. Beautiful view along the river. However, food is inconsistent, and the service was very poor the last few times. After my last visit, I will not return. It took nearly 20 minutes just to have a waitress take our drink order, followed by another 15 minutes and receiving the wrong drinks. Next, it took nearly 45 minutes to received our food. Restaurant was not busy. Waitress was too busy standing in a corner talking to fellow coworkers. Will not return.
(1)Tosha M.
This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. Over the last few years it has really gone downhill. The bread is always good and so is the garlic ranch salad dressing, but that's about it. We got seated without silverware. My husbands soup was lukewarm. He ordered a tortellini dish that was so disgusting he couldn't eat it. He was finally able to send it back after waiting over 15 mins. for our server to show up. I ordered meat lasagna which had hardly any meat. It was mostly sauce and cheese. My 6 year old didn't like his cheese pizza. We keep saying we're not going to come back anymore. After our last experience that's definitely true now.
(1)Kat F.
Rocky's used to be the go-to place for a nice Italian dinner with stunning views of the Louisville skyline. Not anymore. They've changed and simplified the menu down to nothing special at all. We were there this Saturday, and they were on an hour wait but I watched tables sit empty throughout our meal. Lack of staffing? Service was lackluster at best, and our entrees arrived before the salad. Go to Rocky's for a drink on the patio during the summer, but go elsewhere for dinner.
(1)Brian S.
Sat outside for 5-10 minutes with no service on a dirty patio. We decided to leave, and on the way out we passed 2 servers chatting up a manager at the hostess stand like they had nothing to do. Tatty old menus had a new pizza page taped to the inside, as if new printings were too much trouble. The Hooters down the street was great though ;)
(1)Dave G.
When we entered, there was a 20 minute wait, which was fine. The hostess staff was very friendly. When we were seated, it was quite palpable that the server staff was unmotivated and somewhat frumpy. Very slow getting the server to show up at our table, and to get our drinks. Food was marginal, though my wife's minestrone was good. Broccoli was horrible. Fettuccini Alfredo and salmon were bland. Definitely a ton of much better places in the area to have dinner.
(2)Kyle S.
Nestled beside the Kennedy bridge in Jeffersonville, Rocky's outdoor patio overlooks the mighty Ohio river and offers fantastic atmosphere in the evening. If weather permits, ask to sit out there and enjoy. Rocky's offers a very good beer selection and their menu takes what could be gimmicky and makes it truly useful. The beer menu is an iPad that allows you to become more familiar with your considerations as well as search based on what types you like, giving you some background and critical stats on your beverage of choice. I've heard mixed reviews on the full bar offerings. The food is fine, but fairly forgettable. I've really only had the pizza and complimentary bread, though, so my experience is limited. Maybe there are some amazing pasta dishes or salads? I dunno. Nearly everything is reasonably priced, so you aren't going to break the bank. Service has always been excellent, prompt, attentive, friendly and helpful. Inside, the feel is very casual. The far wall is all windows looking out to the river, giving those who fear the heat, cold or bugs nearly the same view as those on the patio.
(4)Cherie S.
Food is just okay... Service is horrible! We have waited for our entrées for over an hour! We will not be returning here!
(1)Ryan E.
EXCELLENT service!!! Was short $2.50 in cash after going for a run and the waitress, BRY offered to pay out of her tip money! Amazing food also. Not enough stars to rate how amazing this place is. We don't get to experience exceptional generosity like this in Vegas. Makes me want to find a reason to come back to Jeffersonville.
(5)Lindsey M.
Gorgeous views of the Ohio River, the patio is a great place to sit. The food is good, but all of our parties meals came out at separate times. Awesome selection of beer on tap. Overall good experience.
(4)Michael B.
Rocky's is one of my favorite local digs. However, in full disclosure I almost always sit at the bar. Delicious pizza, fantastic appetizers and friendly, informed staff (not to mention great view back across the river of Louisville, especially at sunset). In fact, one of the things I like most about them is their knowledge of the multitude of microbrews they serve. Some 30+ craft beers on tap! And the last 3 days of the month they 'blow out the taps" with $3 craft brew drafts... All kinds of nothing wrong with that...
(4)T B.
Where to start.... A) the food is good; B) the view is one of the best on the Indiana side of the Ohio River. On Saturday night, a group of friends and I decided to go for dinner and some drinks. We sat at a first come first serve table in the bar area. Yes of course the bar and the restaurant was very busy, but not a "sit at your table for 3 hours busy". The bartender was entirely too busy to man the bar as well as our table. The waitress in charge of the section ignored us, due to the fact she was swamped too. After hours of waiting for drinks.. Refills.. Forgotten food.. We started to get antsy. Our meals arrived and only half were correct. This was the straw that broke the camels back. I decided to speak with a manager. The manager inside at the host stand Melissa, seemed concerned so she decided to send out the other manager on duty ( I assume a higher ranking manager). The manager on hand walked by our table multiple times and seemed like we were bothering her. She never checked in, nor did she take a look at our checks to see what we paid for. Unfortunately, for a place with food and views, it will be hard to return with the treatment received by the manager on duty.
(2)Susan S.
View is awesome . Food is fair. Pasta was tasteless, soup was blah. I went cause it was close but won't go back
(2)Nick J.
This place is the best. Huge menu with variety and everything is delicious. Complimentary bread with oil herbs and cheese at the start of the meal. Robust and rotating draft selection. Beautiful terrace and best view of the Louisville skyline anywhere. Can't recommend highly enough for any occasion!
(5)Cherie R.
The best things about this place were the outdoor patio and the beer selection. The food was - ok. Not meh. But ok. We dropped by here on the way down to Mammoth Cave. The brother in law and husband got a pizza to share, and I got the soup/salad/bread combo. Unfortunately, they forgot my food and we had to remind them. Then the soup and salad came, and they were ok. The bread came much later and it was - a lot. Two huge pieces of bread. A lot of the reviews said something about cheese and olive oil, but that didn't come until much later, when we were almost done with our food. So in summary? Service was spotty. The manager came by and offered to send me home with more food as an apology, which was nice, but since we were on a road trip? No thank you. Food was ok. Locale and beer were good.
