Nice view of Louisville. Recommend to go in a cooler evening, so you can sit outside to enjoy the view! W went there on a Sat night and there was some wait, but not too bad. There was some band performing, great free live music!! Their seafood was great (that's what brought us there!) Love their scallops, but wish it's slightly larger portion. Their crab legs were great. Love the sampler that we get to try and little of everything!!

Absolutely, hands down, the worst service we have ever had. Or anyone in our group has ever had. 20 minutes to be seated when no one was there, another 30 minutes to get our order in. Over an hour before we had our food. We asked for hushpuppies three times and the waitress said 'if she gets the time' with staff standing around everywhere just talking. We went to the kitchen to get them ourself! Waitress spilled drinks on us while she was pouring, items on the menu that they had stopped carrying months ago, and of course our food was cold ...

Well, the view is great. If you can get a table near the window, that is. For some reason, the staff seems a bit stingy with the only thing worth experiencing at King Fish. My fish sandwich was somehow dry and oily at the same time. And the service was surly.

I'm gonna try to condense this as much as possible. Brooke was our waitress..5 stars for her! She was perfectly friendly and treated us very well. Okay now the food. Hush puppies- do yourself a favor and fill up on these fluff balls. Clams- I can eat myself to death with these little flat f*ckers. Crab cakes- No. Just no. Don't. Coconut Shrimp- These are decent, but the sauce is not. Mac and cheese- A safe side..don't be afraid. Cole Slaw- With black pepper it is aight..will help to get that other crab cake down that you wish you didn't feel obligated to eat. Boom Boom Shrimp- If you want to be disappointed in thinking this will be like bang bang shrimp, then by all means, disappoint yourself. Onion Rings- I'm a batter snob, so my review of these breaded bstards won't be fair...but for the love of gawd, order these over the fries.

Wow, reasonable prices, good down home style fish and not just fried stuff either. Fish portions were lightly breaded and lightly fried. Hush puppies while not the small ones I was expecting, but were light and fluffy with a nice crispy outside. Should have split one of the platters, so much food especially with 2 sides. Onion rings were thick cut lightly battered and great. Cobbett of corn was a whole ear! Green beans were fresh cooked Flat Italian type. Plenty of choices here. Saturday Piña Colada special was tasty and far more than we expected for the $2.99 price.

The Mrs. and I went to Kingfish on Friday night. We were sitted at a table with a river and city skyline view. We arrived at sunset, the views were five star. Friday night is half price wine night, so the wife had a glass of pinot gritio. The pinot was dry with a floral nose, only $2.75 at the special price, what a deal. I got the craft beer special of the day $1.75 for a 12 ounce mug, another good deal. The problem with the porter beer was they served it in an iced mug, so the beer was so cold it had little flavor. The mug stayed icy during the entire meal, so I don't know if the beer was good or not. My wife ordered the fantail shrimp (8) anf boiled shrimp (3) with 2 sides, she chose onion rings and cole slaw. The Mrs. enjoyed her meal, nicely prepared shirmp and tasty cole slaw and onion rings. I ordered the wharf boat 2 pieces of whitefish, I chose fried, cajun and broiled are available. I got two sides onion rings and cole slaw. The onion rings are sweet and flavorful, with the right amount of batter. The cole slaw is nice and tangy, many times cole slaw is sweet in this area, but Kingfish avoids the sugar, I like tangy better. I got two pieces of whitefish, properly battered, not strong, very nice. Another side offering is french fries, they are the crinklely, frozen kind with little to no taste. I don't think any restaurant should serve frozen french fries. The bill came to $32 with the drink specials, the wife bought a $10 coupon for $2 online. The dinner with a $6 tip was $28. We bought enough food home for a meal or two. If you haven't been to Kingfish for awhile, give them a try.

I stopped in for a quick lunch and was impressed with the fast service and hot food. I ordered the Fish Sandwich special with Fries & Hush Puppies. My server Eddie was friendly, attentive and efficient. The spicy tartar was well made but I didn't care for it - instead - I asked for their Cocktail Sauce and it was DEE- LISH!

This has a great river view, food is mostly fried, and not all that good. Prices are reasonable, but this place relies mostly on the river front view. I suggest going across river and going to Captain's Quarters if you want half decent seafood, of course this is the Midwest and you can't get sea-food .....all the menu is very very high in carbs! Girlfriend got the shits from eating here.

The boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat at after ice-skating outside in Jeffersonville (which, by the way, was so much fun!), and we came across this restaurant. Upon entering, the decor was average and the atmosphere reminded me more of a community center, but the view was amazing! We asked for a table by the window, and we could see the whole skyline of Louisville and the river. It was one of the best views we've ever seen. Also, the staff who seated and served us was quick, friendly, and funny, so it made the meal more enjoyable. Lastly, I was surprised by the number of families and senior citizens who came to this restaurant. I was impressed by how the staff and restaurant could cater to this crowd, so props to them! For appetizers, we had the Boom Boom Shrimp, and it was pretty good. It had a slight spicy ting, not much, and it was flavorful. I enjoyed it! For our main course, we chose the "create your own combination" and decided on Fried Catfish, Fried Frog Legs, Cajun Grilled Tilapia, and Grilled Scallops with the sides of corn on the cob, fries, and hush puppies. The hush puppies were pretty big, and I liked them! They were steaming hot, crunchy yet soft, and they started to fill me up before the entree came out. The catfish was crunchy and not too dry with tartar sauce to enhance its flavor, and apparently, the frog legs tasted like nutty chicken wings! The scallops were well seasoned and came with cocktail sauce while the tilapia was also nicely seasoned and served over a pilaf of rice. The rice was a bit plain and took away the flavor from the fish. These dishes were good, but did not jump out at me like at some other restaurants. With the sides, the corn was very hot and juicy, but the fries tasted a bit generic with nothing very special to point out. We ended our meal with the Raspberry Ice Cream Tini, and it is a lot bigger than it appears in the picture. This was delicious and definitely topped off our meal. Overall, the food was decent, but I probably would not come back. I would just rather spend my money on food that made me say "WOW" =)

Our food was just Ok. Nothing to write home about or want to go back soon. The worst part was our waitress. She must have been a cook part-timing as a waitress. She was in the kitchen almost the entire time we were there. We aren't usually disappointed when we go out but this time we were.

Eh...'s ok. Portions were good sized if you're hungry. I had the Fried Whitefish and the portion was huge. As for something I would have to have again...I have to say it was decent average food and sometimes that is enough. Can I say this is a great restaurant...no...can I say you will have a bad meal...no...can I say I have to run back here every time I am close by...no. I think you can have a nice average meal here and leave feeling you actually had something to eat. Views were great...atmosphere was so so...kinda loud. Staff was polite and helpful. Lets just say I went in with certain realistic expectations and they were met.

Took the kids here yesterday for the second time. Despite their low stars, we had a great meal. The server was very nice, had some great beer and the seafood platter my daughter and I split was so huge that we didn't finish it and we were both so full even two hours later. The view alone makes it worth the visit, but the food was really good as well.

I don't understand all the negative reviews of this place. It isn't 4 star, but it does what it sets itself out to do, fine. The food is tasty enough, and plentiful. Reasonably priced for the variety, the "platter" we ate "communal style" easily served 4 very hungry adults. Is it chilian sea bass? No. A lot of it is friend, a lot of it is "comfort fish" and other foods. But it was good, Service was pleasant and the place was clean.

Stay away! Food was tasteless and staff looked tried. The hostess coughed in our silverware and server spilled our food. Had 2 bites of my fish and was ready to go. Cat food might be better tasting! This place is in desperate need of Robert Irvine in Restaurant Impossible. The only reason this place has not closed is due to the view.

Have you ever eaten a meal so bad that you were compelled to eat something else [immediately] just to erase the bad taste out of your mind? This is how we felt after dining at Kingfish today. I order "grilled" fish with rice pilaf and applesauce. All three were misses. The fish was about as grilled as the lemon slice they provided. It was very bland, rubbery and wasn't even hot (it was slightly more than lukewarm). It felt and tasted like frozen fish that was microwaved (or poorly heated in the oven). The rice was, again, bland and, again a small step above lukewarm. Applesauce was just awful. My wife ordered a shrimp salad, and the lettuce was mostly iceberg--that alone kills it. The best thing on our table was the complimentary hush puppies. Based on that and what we observed others eating, this restaurant might prepare decent fried food, but for anything else, especially if you're looking for "quality" healthy options, I urge you to stay away.

We stopped here after the Kentucky Derby as a group of 6 and we were all impressed. Fantastic view next to the river. Good band playing on the riverfront. The service was great and the food was served quickly. Compared to downtown Louisville, this place is a great value and serves really large portions. Drink specials are really good as well. Although the food is not high end gourmet, this place is definitely a nice fun place to spend an evening and not break budget. I definitely recommend it.

The Doggie Bag Started with a beautiful view. Food was ok. Ended with bad service. But the real story was this: A couple came in, and the lady had a service dog (as a companion) in her purse. The restaurant, knowing of the dog, seated them in the center of the restaurant (next to us). This made us and other patrons uncomfortable. The staff was not sympathetic to our feelings. Some patrons left, since they had just arrived, some got angry, some joked. We joked about it to keep the mood light with our table. We were told our food was almost out, so we felt we had to stay. SO, if I look at this from her view that this dog is to be a service to this woman as a companion, and try to understand her feelings and why she needs it. Then, should she not understand our feelings about how WE don't want to eat with her dog too! I see this situation as a parallel to: If I had a screaming child at the table next to you, would it ruin your dinner? Yes, I know that it would, and I would quite the child or remove it from the restaurant. Respect the others that are paying for their meals and trying to relax. So, please show me and others the same respect and keep your dog hair away from my table, please. Maybe try requesting a booth away from others if possible. And to the staff/ manager at KIng Fish, shame on you for not even trying to quiet this situation! We won't return.

Food - 2 stars Staff - 5 stars Was staying in Jeffersonville for work and Kingfish was recommended as "a good seafood place". If you love everything fried, then you might really like this place. The menu is pretty much everything fried, at an inexpensive price. The few things that weren't fried were priced at "market price" - so I'm not sure exactly how much those were, but figured it would be outside of our work expense budget. The fries were lukewarm at best and the tartar sauce was sweet - which is different than where I am from, so I was not a fan. I would give 5 stars for the Boom Boom Shrimp (that had a GREAT spicy flavor/sauce on it) and the hush puppies (although the person I was with wasn't a fan of those). We did not eat much of our meal, but didn't complain at all. The waitress came up and asked if we'd like it boxed up, which we didn't. She asked if we liked it okay, and we said no, not really. When she came back with the bill, she said she talked with the manager and would not charge us since we really didn't eat any of it. And hopefully we would come back and give them another try. Which we thought was really nice of her!

I've eaten here many times over the years and have they have always met my expectations with quality seafood and decent service. Only once in 40 times was the service ever too slow! Good seafood takes a bit longer than normal food preparations so don't think they are too slow.

Abysmal. Absolutely terrifying experience. I'm new to Louisville, and wanted to take my girlfriend out for Valentine's Day. Since I'm broke, this is our, like, once-a-month venture out for food adventure. We both love seafood, wanted to eat somewhere that faced the river (for romantic purposes, you see), and were looking for something relatively inexpensive. This sounded like the perfect place... and I was very unfairly punished for not having properly researched. We get there, and it's dead. Beer signs and TVs everywhere. Totally not romantic. At all. The room is large and well-lit, like a cafeteria. We're sat in the middle of the room - dead center - with no one around us. Kinda weird, and you can't see the river at all since the beer signs and TV reflect too much glare on the windows. Our waitress approaches us with a rather remarkable beehive and asks in annoyance "what do you want to drink?!" I get better service at Waffle House, dude. At this point, we're considering bolting, but whatever. I got the Fish and Chips, and the chips were waffle fries that were microwavable, similar to the fries I would get in high school. Again, whatever, I'm hungry. But my girlfriend got the $20 Crab Legs. Half of them were so overcooked and rubbery that they couldn't be cracked - and hence, she was unable to eat them. Having both been servers, neither of us felt comfortable talking to the manager, though we had a right to. I just paid the bill in full and wanted to go home to cook something myself that would be cheaper and infinitely better. What really sealed the deal for us never returning to Kingfish though... according to our ticket, our servers name was "Judy Booty." Total Twin Peaks shit. Oh, and Judy Booty picked up the check before we had left the table, with is a no-no in Chapter 1 of Serving 101. I ended up calling the manager later to discuss our experience. She was professional with me and offered a free crab legs dinner on our next visit. Though I appreciate her gesture and attempt to correct the situation, I always found this a funny strategy. Hey, your food sucked, so we're gonna give you a coupon to get more of the shitty food for free. But that's probably as good of a solution as any - just ironic, I suppose. With Kingfish, though, my mantra, as demonstrated, is "whatever."

great basic seafood, if you want the artsy fartsy seafood at some high dollar seafood restaurants, then dont go here. this is a great place to go on a spring or summer evening when your view of downtown Louisville is great. Take some friends, large parties are welcome, and enjoy yourself.

FOOD: Not terrible, not great. The hush puppies were quite good. Scallops were small and marginal. Whitefish, tilapia, and scrod were ok, nothing special. The stuffed crab was bland, dry, and more stuffing than crab. Side salad was a nice sized proportion, Bleu cheese was decent. The rice pilaf and Mac n cheese were ok. SERVICE/ATMOSPHERE: Great View of the Louisville skyline!!! I grew up going here, but it has gone downhill. First, we grabbed a drink at the bar with Eddy, he was nice and helpful with a smile. Dalton sat us, he was friendly and efficient. We had a party of 15ish, plus 6 kids and they had plenty of space for us with no wait, which was great. Our waitress, Tiffany, seemed annoyed we had such a large party and so many kids(not my fault, I didn't make any). At first she just went through the motions of taking drink orders and grabbing hush puppies, a robot could do that. The server needs to create an atmosphere that is warm and makes people want to return. Anyway. She did get better throughout the night, probably because she actually made money for a change. In the end it turned out to be an okay evening with ok food. I might return for lunch someday, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again without some upgrades to the atmosphere and menu.

Not much to say.......view of the river was nice and seeing family was nice. Food was very bland and the server wasn't too good. Never did get the appetizer....oh well. Don't know about the prices since son picked up the tab but I don't think I'll go there on my own.

I seriously can not believe the health department hasn't shut this place down. Terrible service doesn't cover it. Food seriously, no BS made me horribly sick. The server made me feel like a dick for what I assumed would be a typical order. Only redeeming factor is they have live music sometimes.

Reasonably priced seafood, service was ok, we had a waiter who was fairly new and we had a very very large party. What he lacked in experience he made up for in hospitality. The decor could use a change up but other than that this isnt marketed as a high class seafood resturant, its a lack spot for some seafood on the ohio river, great views. This place is okay in my book, I would go back and most likely will next time I am in the kentuckiana area.

I ordered food to go for 4 people. The hostess who took my order was rude and asked "is that it?" after every single item in a terribly annoyed voice. I'm not sure what was worse, the food or the hostess. No dressing with the Caesar salad, cold onion rings and sub par everything. To respond the review from the guy not understanding all the bad reviews.. He must have caught this place on its only good night?!

Had dinner here the other night. Food was good, beer was cold. Service was a tad slow. Waiter forgot to bring us our hush puppies, trying to serve three tables at the exact same time, was bringing the wrong food to the wrong tables, but everything else was great. Did not seem rushed to place our order or to pay the check.

This is your grandfather's seafood place, but even he has moved on from a place like this. We ordered 2 pounds of crab legs, they were cold, overcooked and seemed to be underweight. This place can't even get French fries right. They were undercooked and cold. We asked for a replacement and they were undercooked and hot. Pale white fries. This place makes Red Lobster look like a gourmet restaurant. Most of the food is fried; there are a few selections that are not fried. Vegetables are soggy and tasteless. Service was barely adequate. I almost always give a 20% tip, it has been years since I have not. Our waitress got 15% out of pity. AVOID!

I have eaten here before, and I thought this was good, despite the low ratings here. we were seated quickly. and our food came quickly and the seafood platters were enough to feed two. We should have ordered one and split it. The onion rings were good. The hush puppies were large but lacked any flavor. Fries frozen krinkle. If they could work on those two items would be a nice improvement. Great view of river.

This is *not* the kingfish I remember. The crab cakes were overdone, the stuffed crab was bland, the clams were old. The scallops were okay... the baked potato was the best part of the meal.

This food is about as bad as it gets. Everything was overcooked, greasy and tasted like they added sugar to it. The service was okay and the views are nice but the food was basically gross. Not one of the 6 people at our table liked or finished their meals.

Great view of the river! Other than that, I don't have anything nice to say about this place.
