I had dinner at Unusual Suspects tonight. It's locate in Broadripple and worth the trip. I had the Chicken Chef's Salad, part of a friends Shrimp Cuesadia. They were both the best. The salad was the best I've ever had, parts of chicken, snow peas, lettace and a terrific dressing. I think they called it spicy peanut dressing. For dessert I had Chocolate cake. It was cake filled with chocolate filling. Cream Whip and a cherry on top. Everything is home made and really delicious. Our waiter was Karson. I'll dream about him tonight. He was really attentative and just a fantastic waiter. If you're looking for a great dinner meal, check out Usual suspects. You'll be really impressed.

Usual Suspects has been a regular dining and unwinding experience for myself and many friends. From birthday parties, to beer parings, to a casual cocktail at the bar it always delivers! If you think it stops there you are WRONG! Speed up the pace a bit with a trip downstairs. I must warn you ladies, hold on to your panties cuz it's gonna get hot down there! Casba is home to Broad Ripple's sexiest bartender Ross! If you skipped dessert upstairs you'll have a calorie free delight right behind the bar! Service with a smile ;)

Hip twenty-somethings delight! Usual Suspects is here for you. I was actually surprised by this place. The layout was great and seemed to be a fusion between a bar and a slightly fancier place to eat. You know that time in life, no longer a college student but not quite a grown-up yet? Usual Suspects is just that. I had some parmesan-crusted fish and it was delish! And it wasn't too expensive, about $13. My dining mate had the jerk chicken. That wasn't like any jerk chicken I've ever had. My dish was definitely better. There was a full bar and good cocktail menu. After my frou-frou martini, I have to say, I was feeling no pain. An overall pleasant experience that didn't break the bank.

When I walked by this place once I read, "fish in a bag," on their sandwich board; that's not going to draw me...if it draws you...please let me know who you are, and what you are. Nor does it jive with the 90210 (the show) feel. It looks like a place that asked themselves, "would Kelly & Dylan dine here?" Finally the cocktail of life shook just the right way to get me here...jet lagged, late Friday night dinner, and this place's "jerk chicken," got me in the door. The environment is vastly more comfortable than expected -- space in Broadripple is limited & they don't mind putting in half the amount of tables they could...plenty of elbow room. Now...that patio is another story...seems stuffy like a twice-baked potato out there. The service was as dry as the chicken. The server was just all business...I don't know...it's around 9pm on a Friday...you'd think the service would be, if not steady, just in good spirits...instead he was all business. Granted, being all business has its benefits of taking care of it all, but it was just boring -- compared to the lively atmosphere. The server's values are murky: he offered us oil & hot sauce plate amazingness with our pita/hummus, and I made sure it was at no cost, then he brought out more pita and it was eventually charged on the bill (though I had to ask to not include it; sure, call me Stickler). The jerk chicken was a husky, dry, giant steak. To me, Jamaica-traveled, should be on the bone, and far from dry. This was Hoosier-ized with sides of beans & carrots & potatoes that no one would eat. It's these veggies that give kids reasons to never eat a healthy diet. Now...having said this...the place really is a beautiful balance of liveliness and romance for dinner; and that's hard to find. I'd be back to this place, around the same time too (bordering late night bar crowd) to keep it casual. However, I'd make sure I don't have the same server, because well he reeks of midday workday all-business attitude, and that frustrates a Friday night diner. And, go late to see the Dylan McKay wannabes -- it's funny -- when they know their infinitely, always Brandon Walsh that may as well be showing up with Brenda.

The only reason this place gets two stars and not one is because they have GREAT cocktails and their mac and cheese isn't bad. But my boyfriend and I went there a couple weeks ago and I ordered the Balsamic Chicken. It was the WORST thing I can remember eating at a restaurant. It didn't taste like chicken at all. It kind of tasted like they had fried it in the same oil that fished had previously been fried in. The balsamic glaze didn't even cover up the foul taste. The food was completely inedible. I boxed my food up and then threw it away the minute I got home. This place is definitely worth the cocktails....I just wish their food would catch up with the drinks.

Three words: open past 3. Thats all I needed to know. When The Red Room closed we went on a hunt for Broad Ripple's after hours drinking spots and we stumbled (literally) past the Usual Suspects and the door guy yelled out "only place in Broad Ripple open past 3!" To which we immediately pulled a stumble-u-turn and went inside. No cover, no problem. We didn't eat any food here but everything looked ok to me. The inside is a good size and though it wasn't crowded there were certainly a fair number of people still looking to party and have a good time. Has that 80s nightclub feel, mostly white, big bar that covers nearly an entire wall, some secluded tables for the people not looking to socialize. We ordered a few beers and had a great time. There was some outdoor seating but I don't think anyone was outside. I can't even tell you where this place is located, but if you're out late in Broad Ripple and don't want the night to end, swing on by the Usual Suspects and have another round.

Walleye very good. Ditto for the salmon. No bread with the dinner-a bit wierd. Chips and salsa ok although the salsa was bland. Prices reasonable. Recommended.

I was quite delighted at my first experience here. A Saturday evening, around 8:30pm, and they were very quiet with only one or two tables seated. We had a friendly and attentive server, good food, and prices were very reasonable. So when my father was in town, we decided this would be the place to satisfy his dietary restrictions. My second experience was mixed. Both times, I was able to try the "Osso Bucco", an item the menu touts as award winning. It is tasty, but be forewarned that it is not the traditional cross cut veal shank, but instead a quite sizeable pork shank, with meat that does seem to fall off the bone. The accompanying risotto is also ample and filling, although overseasoned, as a little less might allow the more delicate mushroom flavors to come through. Mac and cheese was very tasty, and the shrimp stuffed quesadilla had a nice spicy-sweet aioli inside of it. However, I did not at all enjoy the grilled lamb and potato kabobs with pita. There was a char on the pita which was all I could taste, and there was no seasoning at all on the kabob ingredients, which just tasted bland. The lamb chunks were full of fatty and connective tissue, so I had to stop eating at the end of the first skewer. Whether it was the quality or type of cut, the lamb that ended up on my skewer was not a good choice for grilling, perhaps better as a braised dish. Although I understand these things can happen, I was frustrated trying to get the attention of our server to indicate this. Twice I started speaking to him but he was dashing away from the table so quickly he didn't hear me. Also the hostess took my plate away, with only 1 of the 3 skewers missing, but she didn't inquire as to the quality of the dish. So I was pretty let down at this second experience. However, the prices are reasonable, quantities are quite ample, and the service the first time were good enough, that I would return again if the situation arose. However, there are too many other good places around for me to seek this one out.

My Regular hang out in Broadripple. Bartenders to a great job. They make a great Dark and Story which is not always easy to find. Very good scene. I find it easy to meet people here and always run into friends. Food is great as well and they are way underated as a place for dinner. Must stop in you are out in Broadripple.

we went here due to FAB Yelp Reviews!!!! After i came down off the sugar High from the chocolate Lava Cake, i recalled that our Handsome & Attentive (even while horns were honking & people blowing kisses @ him) our Waiter Karson delivered the 3 sauces (Avocado Lime, Corn & Black Bean, & Marinara) with chips, along with Hummus with Hot Pita bread (yumO) love the HOMEMADE Dressings, i had the Honey Mustard & the Spicy Peanut dressings, too DIE FOR!!! for the salads (or Shots as i call them)! FRESH & GENEROUS are always words i love to hear around the table among friends!! i had the Horseradish Mustard Chicken over Fettuccine, had a bite of a friend's (a World Traveler) Shrimp Quesadilla, (who said it was the best thing he'd ever had) YES, I'll be going back for that!!! our water & drink glasses were always full (& so where we) other favs around the table were the Pulled Pork "Burgers" & Chinese Chicken Salad Great Food, Great Friends, Great Service, Great View, Great Value, i couldn't wish for anything more
This would not be my typical hang out on a weekend BUT I went early for dinner and it was very good. I had the risotto and tasted the pork osso bucco..think that's what it's called..and they were both great. I suggest to go early and avoid the "Usual Crowd".

New owners recently bought the former Parthenon and converted it into Usual Suspects, a bar and restaurant that gained quick appeal among a Broad Ripple crowd looking for both new dining and night life options. Usual Suspects has all you need: a great bar and staff, very good food that is hardly in the 'bar food' category, and a clean, modern décor that has a great feel. One can even dine outside in the warm months and gain a visual on the Broad Ripple street traffic. Located next to the alley on Guilford, in between Broad Ripple Avenue and Westfield, right above the Casba Bar, Usual Suspects is nestled perfectly into a spot that is great during the evening, as well as at night when the bar crowds hit the streets. For food, I definitely recommend the chips and salsa, which comes with 3 different salsas that are all excellent. You'll quickly crave more, and if you're a compulsive chips and salsa eater like I am, you'll risk stuffing yourself with the south-of-the-border delight. The Asian chicken salad is also excellent. The bar has the full spread of liquor, beer and wine, and on weekend nights packs the house with the slightly more mature Broad Ripple nightlife crowd, or at least a crowd that wants a bar, and not a club, scene. Usual definitely attracts a crowd that tends to be well-off, well-dressed and slightly more sophisticated than some of the wannabe Abercrombie models that frequent some of the other nearby establishments. Do not confuse the above description of the crowd with this place being boring; this bar is definitely a fun spot on the weekends. It's just more social as opposed to dancing, etc. Usual definitely ranks towards the top of my list in Broad Ripple for both food and bar atmosphere. There is occasionally live music (usually acoustic or solo acts) and word is they may add a DJ on certain weekends.
