Food is actually pretty good but a little pricey. It could have earned a 4 or 5 stars review but service is terrible.

Hands down one of the most refreshing places for breakfast in indy. Everything is seasonal, and made in house. Anywhere that serves green tea macha lattes is a place I will visit very frequently.
(5)Arunima R.
The coffee is the star of this place. The menu for brunch is varied and good enough but highly overpriced for breakfast/brunch options. The wait staff are sometimes pretentious and you have to end up waiting long to be served. Definitely the environment is good but for the service, I am not sure I will try this place again. I tried this place 3 or 4 times and the service or food quantity never was better than last time unfortunately.

When I lived right nearby, I went here a borderline embarrassing amount. Now that I live a bit farther away, coming here is a special treat. Delicious, seasonal, fresh food that's definitely my go-to lunch when I'm feeling like something healthy. Highly recommend the veggie panini during spring/summer! Great selection of teas! And, yeah, it's really "northside" of me, but I do like the cucumber water as a nice touch. Brunch gets crowded...like everywhere, I guess...but in my experience I've been able to get a table right away during lunch. The only real downer is the location: in a strip mall. This place would be even better as a cute little place with outdoor seating that didn't consist of sitting on a sidewalk 4 ft away from the front of a car. Bottom line: check it out! Hmmm...now I'm craving a panini....!

We joined some friends for brunch today, and this was our first visit. The seating was a little tight, but cool decor...reminds me of something that should be off Mass Ave. The food was fresh and the menu selections were great. Offered French pressed coffee (I would go just for that) and teas which I didn't have. We will definitely be going back.
(4)Elizabeth C.
The vegan pancakes are to die for, the service was great, we were seated for sunday brunch very quickly. The venue is intimate.
(5)Lesley S.
Overall okay. If you like small portions and decent food, this spot is fine. I've never hated anything I've gotten here but it's also not high on my list of places to frequent. Our last visit was lackluster. My omelet was lukewarm and our server only came by the table at the beginning of our visit, to drop food, and to bring the check. We needed things in between but didn't see her in a timely fashion. The vibe was just weird. I'll pass.

For years, I drove past Tulip Noir (at old location across from Whole Foods) and didn't think about trying it out. Just recently I finally made it in and discovered how lovely the place is. Many gluten-free and vegan options. It's clean, it's modern, it's (relatively) healthy and it's delicious. They offer coffee and tea, fresh-squeezed juice as well as brunch cocktails (mimosa, etc). I'm in it for the tea, though! The entire first page of their menu is a list of their tea. Many options to choose from and locally-sourced when able. This place is a winner! I've been back at least 3x in the past month alone.

Summary: Service: okay 4/5 server engaged meaningfully on a conversation around tea :) Food taste: 3/5 nothing to write home about. I tried their new addition open faced egg sandwich. It's on pumpernickel bread with sliced hard boiled eggs, cucumber slices arugula and topped with smoked trout. Some arugula dressed in vinegeratte is served on the side Cuppa: 3/5 comes with two shots but could do a better job with the foam. To put in perspective it's better than say cafe patachou but not as good as Calvin Fletcher's. Price: I think this is where the catch lies. The food seems a bit overpriced for the taste, quality and portion size. I'd rather spend $12+ for brunch at Milktooth than here. They have an Extensive list of teas and fresh smoothies. I wish they were closer to the Monon :). Btw, Yelp says this is like eggshell bistro but that one is way better. So in conclusion, I don't see myself becoming a regular based on price, taste, quality and location.

Loved this place. We had both kinds of Eggs Benedict. Both were excellent. Hollandaise was very nice. Presentation was good, and service was very good. Had cold press coffee, also very good.
(5)Peter P.
One of the few places in town that does French press coffee (2 or 4 cups)! The space is pretty cute. Upscale and Bohemian. There's a coffee bar in the back for commuters to pick up a quick cup on the go.
(4)Alexandrea P.
Good: pretty cups and great tea selection. Can get almond or coconut milk or water and all types of teas. Serving of coffee and tea is neat and uniqu-with tea you get a timer you wait to drink. Used to have fritters, pancakey's, fresh food with veggies that were seasoned well. French name and unique healthy food options were a draw in. Bad-In crowded strip mall-which many good places are now; owner seems sort of nice but not overly friendly, staff is often slow, somewhat unknowledgeable and only 2 of 10 occasions have I had a kind wait person. Long wait on food even with very few customers, food has gone way down hill in last year, hours are strange-randomly will be closed at least in past years, menu said I could make own sauté but when I called they said no-ordered a soup, winter veggie sauté and bf had panini -all tasted terrible And cost over $40-this place wAs bad when it had good food, I came despite service. Now that food has declined, and prices are nearly gaugy, I won't return. I like to support new local places with flair but this is bad service at high price with good good rotated off menu and dreck, bland crap for sale-kale soup with a few beans-ugh,-no thanks
(2)Ryann G.
I love this place! It is my first choice for breakfast/brunch, especially when I have friends or family come in from out of town. All of their food tastes fresh and comes in the perfect portion size. I love their extensive tea list, and the juice bar next door has made for a great addition to their already substantial range of healthy options. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone!
(5)Earl T.
This place is right up my alley! The tea is amazing. Even the water is excellent! Our server was polite and jovial and the overall vibe and energy was phenomenal! The food.... OMG... THE FOOD! Fresh, delicious, filling, flavorful... I can NOT speak enough good things... I can't get back fast enough!
(5)Christie B.
I wanted to like this place. While it has many things that are appealing, my overall impression is that I can get a better, more filing meal elsewhere. I'm probably hindered by my ignorance of what types of ingredients they use (organic, all natural, and whatnot) and the cost associated with these things. I get it that natural organic foods are more expensive, and indeed I'm willing to pay for that. However...Tulip Noir's price point seems excessively high for what you get. I ordered a basic breakfast which consisted of 2 eggs, sausage, and toast. I added a side of fried potatoes for an additional charge (fine by me). When my meal arrived, it was small. Tiny. Decorative. I'm not a person with a big appetite, but I demolished the entire thing and still left feeling hungry. When I asked for some jam for my toast, the server brought out a miniscule portion, about the size of half a tablespoon. Say what? Now I understand that we live in a society where food waste is a big problem and portion sizes are out of control. I also understand that since Tulip Noire only operates for limited hours (breakfast and lunch) they probably have to make up their operating costs by charging higher prices. And I get it that preparing gluten free lactose free organic vegan foods is more expensive and time consuming than "regular" food. But I think Tulip Noir tips the scale too far in the direction of skimpiness. Add to that the fact that it has a massive tea and drinks menu and a miniscule food menu makes me wonder if they should change their focus. By the way, the water glass I got...it was a tiny glass, smaller than a rocks glass. No refill during the whole time I was there. Guess Tulip Noir has to cut back someplace, and they start with the water bill.
(2)Katie U.
I really want to like Tulip Noir...and it's decent, but I would rather go somewhere else for brunch. I find their food is a bit "fu-fu" and the portions aren't that big. I always leave feeling unsatisfied. The food tastes good, but it's not "wow, this is the best thing ever" good. Also, service can be slow...like 20 minutes slow. For an omelet? No thanks. It's quaint and cozy, but for me, it's not a favorite.
(3)Ro T.
It's modern, it's cozy and it has a million items on its tea menu! We were surprisingly blown away by Tulip Noir. From the beautiful presentation of the tea to the ginger bacon, the experience was unlike anywhere I'd gone before. There were hourglass timers on the tables, handmade desserts, knowledgeable staff, scrumptious food and local offerings. This is a must try if you want a snazzy yet fast and casual brunch spot to go to.
(4)Megan S.
I'm torn whether I should give this place 3 or 4 four stars. The reason why I am in the middle is because of the price that we paid for the meal. For two people to get a smoothie and a meal it was $35 for lunch. A rather steep price but it was very unique and yummy food. I had the vegetarian ruben which was so incredible delicious. If I were to go back to the restaurant I would definitely get that again. There was a good selection of smoothies to choose from and teas. You get a side salad instead of fries or chips which was a nice alternative. The atmosphere was very friendly and most of the people there seemed to be on business or meeting with friends. There is a bar seating area if you do go to this restaurant alone. Overall I was impressed with the meal but it was a rather steep price.

After a long drive home from Alabama with wife and our two kids, we arrived back to Indianapolis around 1 or 2pm. We were not in the mood to eat out, but were less in the mood to cook. So, my wife says, "lets go to Tulip Noir." I had no idea what the Tulip was, but ... "sounds good to me." Good was an understatement. The food was great. Loved the feeling of the store. We wanted something 'clean' and natural/organic. This was the place. I've been here three times now. I have to say, I prefer the breakfast - ginger cinnamon bacon - oh my! Love the french toast, corn waffles, eggs ... pretty much everything. On the "kids", they were fine there. The waitress gave them paper and crayons (not a normal thing for Tulip Noir). They were fine with this to help them wait on the food after the long car ride. But, I'd not call this a kids place.
(5)Anna O.
Great "holiday detox". Carrot ginger soup and veggie panini for lunch. The vegetables have to be local and fresh because what you taste is... well, just flavorful vegetables. Smooth carrot laced with ginger. Spanking fresh greens with veggies sautéed in high quality oil. Pesto on panini. Remarkably, this light lunch kept me full well past my usual cravings hour. I wish i could eat like this more frequently... My husband on the other hand had a second lunch later that day. I was worried about service reviews, but it was friendly and fast for us despite my business attire, suit and all.
(4)Phi C.
What a cute little breakfast place! Everything seems pretty basic here but everything tasted amazing. They were out of eggs Benedict, which is usually my first pick for breakfast, so I tried their blueberry pancakes with a side of turkey sausages. Pancakes with the blueberry sauce was so good, it melted in my mouth. The batter had a different taste to it compared to regular pancakes. Different flour maybe? I really enjoyed it. Husband got the basic Bart breakfast and as simple as it looked, that was pretty good as well. Service was nice and quick. Girls there seemed pretty friendly. Will return!
(5)Deirdre G.
What a sweet unique place! I had every intention of ordering a pot of tea with my meal, so when my server Gretchen offered me a sample of the day's special, I was pleasantly surprised. I went along with ordering a pot of that tea, which was passion fruit. What I loved is that your teapot is warmed by a personal burner and comes with an egg timer so you know how long to steep it for. For my meal, I had the blueberry pancakeys which were absolutely lovely. A very chic place with tasty food!
(5)Amy C.
A delicious healthy lunch! They change their menu with the seasons. I had a fall vegetable bisque with a winter squash salad. They were a good choice. My daughter had the special, which was the Mac and cheese with pretzel bread croutons on greens. It was delicious. The pasta was cavatapi which makes a really good Mac and cheese. We had a pot of tea for two which was $6. The whole lunch with tip for two was $30. This is a good healthy lunch option.
(5)Rachel W.
Did a carry out for eggs Benedict and it was good. The atmosphere was nice and people were friendly. Will try again.

Celebrating my 30th I wanted nothing more than to enjoy my day with a big old brunch with my family. This farm to table restaurant is a favorite of mine. Tulip Noir have incredible scones, perfect size to share - a new flavor offered every day, I love the chocolate chip. Their Andy's Eggs Benedict was okay. I love my English muffin toasted & mine was a bit soggy but my eggs were perfectly poached & the Canadian ham was delish. My sister and brother ordered Ron's Open Face Sandwich - two pieces of homemade bread, thin slices of fresh salmon, scrambled eggs - looked pretty tasty. My dad ordered a breakfast sandwich with scrambled egg, provolone, bacon, a basil marmalade - he loved it. We also always order their french toast. three words: a must try... sinfully delicious. The disappointing part about our experience was, we waited over an hour for our food - there must have been a glitch with their system because several tables, who arrived after us, were served way ahead of us. It was a bit frustrating seeing table after table around us being served with our dishes nowhere in sight. Our server was kind enough to comp our beverages but sadly it was too late. I wish this place only the best because their food is fresh and the spot is adorable but waiting over an hour for eggs & toast seemed a bit extreme. This is a perfect place for a party of 2 or 3. Order a scone, one of their many assortment of teas & their french toast.

This is a great place for brunch if you are looking for fresh, healthy options in appropriate portion sizes. On my most recent visit, I had the winter omelet which featured kale, sweet potatoes and other goodies! It came with a side of fresh salad greens, which went really well with the omelet, and were a much healthier alternative to hash browns or bread of some type. The tea list will put the average wine list to shame. I has a cherry-fig tea that was amazing! Individual cups of tea come with these infuser lids that took us all a minute to figure out how to remove and store on the table once the tea was done (they provide cute sand timers so that you know when your tea has steeped enough). The food is made to order, and so there may be a little wait if they are busy, but it is worth it! Servers are very knowledgeable about menu items, and were readily able to make recommendations to those in our group who weren't sure what to order. We were celebrating a friend's birthday, and they had no problem with us bringing in cupcakes from a nearby bakery. The healthy omelet and salad counteracts the gourmet cupcake right? We had a fairly large party, and they did a great job keeping orders straight, and helped make it a nice event.
(4)Sarah B.
A nice little breakfast place with a great list of teas and coffees. The meal was delicious, I got the eggs benedict. I would highly recommend this place for someone who is looking to try something a little more "upscale" to your typical morning breakfast place. I rate this a 4 stars because it isn't a place I am just dying to try again. I enjoyed my breakfast and am happy I was finally able to check it out.
(4)Matt C.
If you can picture sophistication wearing skinny jeans, then you know what's coming at Tulip Noir. Nouveau industrial décor, herbal juice bar, fresh...local....everything - you know this sort of place, right? So, you won't be surprised with a $50 breakfast tab for 2 adults and a toddler. Was it worth it? My egg sandwich was decadent, cooked to perfection, and even co-starred an atypical pairing with thin cut smoked turkey pastrami. My side order of bacon was too chewy for a $5 add on, but then I didn't specify "crispy," did I? The side greens that help fill in the plate packed more than a garnish and came dressed with just enough of a vinaigrette to make me actually interested in a morning salad. If you go to a hipster joint, then be a hipster - order a lemon/ginger/cayenne shot or one of the other dozen variations on the menu. Sound cool? It was - Almost as prim an experience as the presentation of the French pressed coffee pot set on my table, fully equipped with a tiny stir spoon that would have had a British accent if it could. If you fancy an artistic culinary brunch, give this place a try! We brought our 2.5 year old, but despite the wait staff's best efforts, it just wasn't a scene for kids. Another tip - don't let the skinny jean clientele fool you about this west side location. Confused? Just lock your car. (This ain't Carmel, ladies - feel me?)

Food was good. Portions were small. Décor was good.
(3)Jennifer H.
Several friends of mine have recommended this place. I went there for brunch and ordered a chicken ciabatta sandwich and the tea of the day. I liked the atmosphere. The restaurant has simple decor and is pretty small; perfect for a brunch date. There was no wait time. The server was great and brought samples of their tea for the day. I don't remember the flavor of tea, but it was absolutely delicious! I was not a fan of the sandwich. The chicken was extremely dry. Everything else about the sandwich was delicious, including the sauce and the veggies, but the chicken absolutely killed it. I will probably visit again to give other entrees a try.
(3)Craig P.
Tulip Noir consistently exceeds my expectations on what great, simple food can be. They honor the local ingredients as well as the cooking process to bring you art on a plate! The changing menu keeps me coming back for new surprises with a consistently high level of yumminess! Service and atmosphere are great and this is truly a hidden gem in Indy!
(5)Jennifer N.
Tried this place this week with a couple girlfriends and we all left very disappointed. The menu looked appetizing but the taste of all three of our orders was lacking. Definitely will not be going back!!!

When I first arrived at Tulip Noir Cafe, I honestly was a bit skeptical. It was 11a.m. on a Saturday and it wasn't packed. We walk inside, and it was sparsely decorated. Basically, what I woud refer to as industrical chic. Not warm and cozy as I would expect from a cafe. We were immediately greeted, then seated. Things started to look up once I saw the menu! I am a sucker for loose leaf tea. They have a wide and varied selection of loose leaf teas, which just warmed my heart. I ordered the tropical tea, which came in a cute glass teapot placed over a warmer with a side of honey. I am happy again! Now the hard part, what to order. I was impressed with how contientious the cafe is about buying local, organic, and fresh. This is my kind of place. After debating between the veggie quesadilla and the blueberry pancakeys, I opted for the cutely named pancakeys made with organic flour, sugar, flax seed and blueberries topped with sliced bananas, sliced raw almonds, chia seeds, and cinnamon, served with a side of our blueberry syrup. Not only were the pancakeys healthy, they were freaking delicious! Talk about a clean plate. Oh, so so so good. In one meal, I was converted. I love Tulip Noir Cafe. It is my new go-to place for delicious and good for you eats. Glad we arrived at 11a afterall because they place was eventually packed! Reasonably priced and did I mention delicious! On my next visit, I will try the veggie quesadillas and possibly a scone others have raved about.
(4)Douglas D.
Service was fast and friendly. They even let me order an item not on the menu (pancakeys) because I just wanted to try them. The french press coffee was very good. Overall, one of my new favorites for breakfast.
(5)Emily U.
If Tulip Noir were downtown, it would definitely be in my regular brunch rotation. Probably in the top slot. I can easily say the benedict dish I had there this morning was the best breakfast preparation I've had in Indy. Delightfully delicate (not heavy) and citrus-y sauce covered a perfectly-prepared egg and sauteed veggies, which rested upon a most delicious carrot and beet fritter and some arugula. The fritter was amazing. Every bite was a party in my mouth! My friend had a seasonal omelet with squash, artichoke and other veggies that was equally praiseworthy. A perusal of the menu suggests you can't go wrong here. The portions are small (reasonable) so don't go to TN with a raging hangover appetite (save that for Peppy's Grill). We had room for scones afterward -- apple flavored, not cloyingly sweet (like pastries from Starbucks and the like), these delectables made for the perfect brunch dessert. This totally satisfied my usual -- sweet or savory? -- breakfast dilemma. Choose from fresh juices, a million different teas and a handful of coffees, which will come to your table in an individual press. The decor is bright and modern, and the service was great. They're doing it right at Tulip Noir.
(5)Stacy P.
I was persuaded to try and left feeling satisfied and full. Based on previous reviews, I set my expectations pretty low for service. I was shocked at how quick we were seated, were able to place an order, and how quickly we received our food. The lose leaf tea list was amazing. There was a wide range variety. I was also pleased with their GF options. The Corn waffle was good. I initially was sold on the fact that it was topped with a bean spread and salsa, but the combination was quite tasty.
(4)Kelly D.
I am not a tea drinker. Give me a hot cup of coffee, even bad coffee over tea any day. But the sneaky staff of Tulip Noir was ready for coffee lovers like me and seated my friend and I with a sample of some kind of walnut tea. Some kind of witchcraft-made walnut tea. For the first time in my life, I perused the (incredibly extensive) tea list. (TEA. LIST.) I ordered a green tea with bergamot and it was amazing. Seriously, if you are a tea drinker, don't miss this spot. My friend ordered the Crazy Toast for both of us, and I piously decided to eat one piece to be nice. No. I dutifully ate my half of the order. It was simple but completely delicious. We both went with the Wicked Winter Omelet. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I don't care how fancy your menu options are, if you can't cook a vegetable, I hate your restaurant. Tulip Noir presented a perfectly beautiful omelet and all the veggies were beautifully prepared. The decor is simple and fresh, our waitress was attentive and helpful, and the noise level was very acceptable for the small pace. Tulip Noir is my new "breakfast with a friend" favorite.
(5)Krista R.
From start to finish, our brunch experience here was among the worst we've had. Good food is NOT justification for snobby, inadequate service. At this price point, customers deserve to be treated better than they would be at IHOP. We were seated immediately by the owner, and then we sat. And sat. And sat. At least two servers walked past us, several times, to clear tables, take checks, etc. We made eye contact with staff but none stopped. Maybe the owner could have stopped chatting up the regulars near the front of the restaurant to come get our drink order? Guess not. Trying to decide on where we should go instead of Tulip Noir, a server FINALLY (15 minutes after seating) stops at our table to say she will be right with us. We wanted to believe her -- the menu sounded great, after all. Two minutes later, the server seats a couple at the table next to us and takes THEIR drink order. Really? Not cool. She returns with their drinks, takes their food order, and then FINALLY comes back to us. She grunts, "Are you ready?" Really?! No introductions? No apology for the wait? No asking if it's our first time here? No mentioning of the daily specials? Fine. Ugh. We order tea and coffee AND our food in rapid succession, hoping the service is not a reflection on the food. When the server brings the coffee and tea to us, she slams everything down. She also puts two timers on the table. We look at her for instructions but she quickly turns around and walks away. Sorry, you cannot just drop off some kitchen gadgets without any sort of explanation. You have been upgraded from a bad server to a rude server. Your communication skills are laughable. Please seek employment elsewhere. Later, the sever delivers our food (after that other table, of course). My omelet mysteriously has toast accompanying it. Odd, because on the menu, toast is a $2 upcharge. I never was asked if I wanted toast, and I certainly did not order it. Whatever. The omelet was tasty as was the tea. The toast goes untouched on my plate. The server checked on us exactly once, to clear our plates. Great job. Look -- the food is fine. It's fresh and innovative and the menu changes with the season. I just expect to be treated like a customer, not a leper, when dining. If you don't care about all that, eat here. For me, the poor service and lack of professionalism is not worth the headache. $17 for an omelet with an undressed 'salad' of greens, 2 slices of UNordered toast, and a cup of tea that I hope I steeped correctly is just plain silly. The owner should have been at LEAST walking around the restaurant, to make sure customers are happy.
(2)Logan M.
I'm kind of sad I didn't discover this place sooner, it is arguably the best cafe in the area for tea/coffee and brunch. If you are into the raw/paleo movement, this restaurant was made for you. First off, I like that there is a bar because I was alone on the day I came into Tulip and it saved me from sitting at a 2 top. The owner was attentive and offered me a menu promptly, which was appreciated. After overcoming the expansive menu I decided on the Superfruit Gojiberry Green Tea. As with any of the Serendipiteas, it was excellent.. Gretchen, my server, was attentive even though the restaurant was almost full when I walked in. I ordered the brocolli, spiinach, quinoa, asiago, red pepper saute and it was quite good and well-portioned. I bought one of each scone (gluten free Blueberry and apricot) and the gluten free one was excellent. Even more surprising is the fact that the owner bakes them. All things considered, I had a very pleasant experience at Tulip Noir, which is a diamond in the rough of the 86th and Ditch area.
(5)Allison H.
Portion sizes are small and quality is not what you would expect for the prices, which are out of league with the food. The owner is an absolute piece of work and has been snide and rude to me every time I've met her. Service is very slow. If half the effort that went into decorating the place went into making great food and creating an ambiance of warmth and invitation, this would be a nice place. As it is, it's a northsider's hobby gone awry.
(2)Phillip H.
This little breakfast/brunch spot on W 86th really exceeded my expectations. Their coffee and tea selections are great, and the food was some of the best breakfast fare I've had in a long time. The blueberry pancakes were hearty without being grainy, sweet but not saccharine. And it's always nice to find a cafe that knows what a real macchiato is. I highly recommend Tulip Noir if you're looking for a quality breakfast.
(4)Bruce H.
Fantastic Coffee (true french press), simple, elegant breakfast menu. They cook their eggs perfectly (a good test of the chef.) Friendly server. Food quality was great, place was very clean. If the menu had a few more options, and the server attended to requests quicker, I'd give it 5 stars. Will definitely go back.
(4)Jennifer K.
My husband and I are regulars: vegetable fritters, Pancakeys and veggie quesadilla with eggs. They have an innovative menu with fresh ingredients and real vegan and gluten-free options. Service can be spotty. It's also pricey for a breakfast - our last tab with tip was ~$50.
(4)Dhruv P.
I didn't know what to expect, but when I came up to the the front door and saw Noir, I immediately pushed my sometimes snotty attitude up higher. The word to me has a connotation that is foreign and therefore must be a interesting word. It reminds me of the time when I was a young and my parents bought a new TV, a Sony Triton, in a box that had the word noir stamped on the side to indicate the color of the unit. I thought the word was great, and started to use it in everything, naming my computers, my compilation CDs, etc. But I was wrong to do so. This place is extraordinary. Its minimal inside; thus having a openness that many brunch places avoid in order to create intimacy. The people who work there are nice. They bring out a full page listing of teas before even asking if you want coffee or tea. The menu for the food is not only interesting, but all seemingly a healthy fare. You aren't bombard with many pages of options. As for the food, I was instantly drawn to the Veggie fritter (apparently, a favorite of many customers), which was made with butternut squash and sweet potato, along with other fillings such as corn and golden raisins. The texture of it reminded me of something very similar my mom used to make (with zucchini). It was well proportioned and well balanced. There wasn't a lot of salt or any one flavor overtaking the others. I only wish that they gave a side of dressing, because these fritters come on a bed of arugula. I had way too much of the leaves left over that I couldn't eat on its own. Since I was just in town for the weekend, I wasn't able to come back here and try anything else. A shame I feel, as if this place was near me, I would be going there at least once a week for breakfast.

A great place for Sunday brunch! Love the lemony zesty vinaigrette on the Arugula greens! We had the peanut butter and chocolate scones-perfect size-great compliment to the meal! Their omelets are just the right size-light and fluffy egg whites! We went here to celebrate my daughter's birthday-just a slight delay in getting seated-staff was very accommodating as we added two more to our already party of 5. For some reason, our order didn't get queued up correctly and we had to wait over an hour for our food-the staff was kind enough to comp us our beverages and gave us a discount on our food bill. Very nice to make up for the slow service!
(4)Scott M.
Tasty food but sloooow service. Not recommended for diners who are in a hurry ... if they weren't so slow to deliver food, I'd likely have given them a 4th star. Open faced salmon sandwich was a solid 4 stars out of 5. Banana nut waffle didn't taste a lot like banana and was pretty much just a run-of-the-mill 3 star waffle with fruit and cinnamon on top. Kid pancakes were organic (love that) and smilingly approved by the young'un. Espresso hit the 4 star mark and the wife liked her latte. I'd return, the food here was very good ... but only if I knew I could spare at least an hour (that's starting the clock AFTER being seated).

Flavor overload, but not in a bad way. This quaint breakfast nook, situated in a shopping center in Indiana, offers fancy breakfast to the extreme. Rather than offering deep fried, over processed food, they use local organic and fresh ingredients. A belief in lots of fruits and veggies at breakfast is a good thing in my book, so I was excited to check this place out. Our server was a doll, albeit a little busy, and she had a big smile on her face the whole time. They place a timer on the table, but it was never explained as to its purpose. She spent some time casually conversing with guests at another table, and seemed to forget about us slightly, but no worries. Service was decent. Oberweis Milk (yum), tasty organic tea selections in the cutest little mug, fresh squeezed orange juice and more, the beverage selections, while a little pricey, were delicious. The entrees were strange and unusual to my boyfriend, who prefers his fried hash browns loaded with meat and other stuff, then topped with cheese and eggs. I was in a happy place. He ordered Sam's Deluxe Eggs Benedict, which was awesome, though one egg was not quite enough to satisfy my very hungry boyfriend. The spinach fritters were really good, and the hollandaise was rockin'. A side of arugula at breakfast is genius (I do this regularly) and the boyfriend seemed to enjoy it. I saw something that had rosemary and lavender syrup--& couldn't help myself. I'm not typically a sweet breakfast eater, but with a unique combination like that, I had to try it. Buckwheat pancakes with rosemary and chocolate chips, drizzled with lavender syrup sounded too good to pass up. 5 super dense silver dollar sized pancakes were served with fresh strawberries and cinnamon. The flavor combination may have been a little more than I would have liked, but they still tasted decent. There was a lot going on in there, so I could barely finish them all. I had also ordered a side of cinnamon ginger bacon, which was surprisingly good. Overall, interesting concept--maybe taken one step further than I would have gone, but still a good breakfast.

Such a cute and tasty spot for a chill lunch with a couple friends! I ordered the personal pot of flower shower green tea (so delicious! ) and the vege panini and I enjoyed it all and didn't feel overly full! The waitress was super nice and helpful and helped us order the perfect dishes and portions! I will definitely be coming back for brunch soon!

Great Breakfast and good lunch! My salad was a mixture of fresh lettuces and vegetables. The chicken was great that I added, but it was $5.00. I thoughts this was too much.

Great seasonal veggie sautes that taste fresh and delicious! Beautiful Organic Tea menu!

Recently came back for a second visit. Food was tasty but both times now I have had absolutely terrible service. I can sometimes overlook this for good food at a good price but quite frankly it was that bad.

It's nice to eat somewhere in this area of Indy that offers a lot of *healthy* vegan options. The server, Gretchen, was outstanding - personable, professional and quick! She appeared to be keeping everything in order during the busy lunchtime rush. Not really sure what the other server(s?) were doing, but it didn't appear to be much. Of course, it is a little unfair for me to make that assumption. The sandwich I ordered - veggie panini - was VERY good and fresh. The roasted red pepper tomato soup was outstanding. From the tea bar, I ordered the Vanilla Matcha Latte with almond milk & honey. It was one of the best tea drinks I've EVER had! My only complaint would be the price point. I liked the food, but it wasn't quite artisan enough to be paying $18 for a meal. The meal I ordered was definitely something I could have made at home, but that may not be true for everything else there. My advice, especially to the vegan/gluten-free/organic crowd is to give this place a try! But don't come between 12:00pm & 1:30pm, do order something unique, do try the tea, and of course do sit in Gretchen's section if you can!

We waited a solid minute upon our arrival before our presence was even acknowledged. And there was a pretentious atmosphere that I couldn't seem to forgive. I was surrounded by mainly suburban, middle-aged women who looked like they spent their afternoons at the country club. As an independent young professional, I felt extremely out of place. (Imagine how my male co-worker felt! Poor guy). The roasted eggplant soup was fairly good - it had a slightly chunky texture (so you know that it had to be homemade) and was seasoned well. The beet salad was not horrible, but was uninspiring. It was simply mixed greens, with beets, goat cheese, and pecans thrown on top. Overall I left Tulip Noir with disappointment. Slightly overpriced, sub-par customer service, and a snooty crowd.

After going to Sunday morning yoga, one of my classmates and I decided to go here. Since it's been over a year, I decided to give them a try again, and it was definitely much better. They had a pretty busy crowd, so my friend and I decided to sit at the bar for immediate service. We ordered two separate dishes, but decided to share with each other, and our server kindly provided us with another dish. I ordered Andy's Eggs Benedict and the Almond Cafe latte, and she ordered the Traditional Dreamy French Toast. We were both glad that we decided to try each others entrees because they were both really tasty. I'm glad that I came back.

The food is amazing here and all locally sourced but the service could use improvements. I wouldn't say this is a very child friendly restaurant but I also don't have kids. I just never see them there and the limited menu would be tough for a picky eater. Smoothies are great but I'm not a fan of the regular coffee. If you need a cup of coffee, go with a cappuccino. The specials are always spot on!
(4)May K.
They have great food and service, and the food is presented well. I don't know why people complain about portion size or the price. They were perfectly fine. It's hard enough as it is to find a good restaurant in Tulip Noir, so I consider this place a jem.

This might be my new favorite place for brunch. It's location in a strip mall on W. 86th doesn't prepare you for the sleek decor, the extensive tea and coffee selection or the truly delectable, yet healthy menu. The ingredients are locally sourced, organic and preservatives are avoided. I was able to order something scrumptious that made me feel like I had splurged, yet while remaining low cal which is nearly impossible in Indianapolis. My only less than positive comment was that we seemed to get the only sour waitress in this little bistro--she left us sitting for quite some time before even attempting to take drink orders, served another customer before us that arrived after we had been sitting for 5 minutes and was in general, a little snobby. We found out about the special of the day when she told some other patrons adjacent to us...of course this was AFTER we had already ordered. She got a little better by the end of our meal but I could have certainly 86'd the attitude to make this a truly great dining experience.

SO glad to discover this café! Fantastic brunch experience all the way around. Our server was attentive and friendly; the French toast with crème fraiche and blueberries was decadent; the omelet with locally-sourced winter veggies was perfectly done; and the white tea, chosen from a long list of interesting herbal, green, black and white teas was a perfect compliment to the food. I will definitely return (looking forward to trying several other interesting and delicious-sounding items I saw on the brunch menu!)

If you love tea with your breakfast/brunch/lunch, this place will really impress you. The tea selection is extensive. Food is simple and delicious. Great atmosphere. This place is one of Indy's hidden gems, as they say.
(5)Tamara Q.
Felt like a little piece of new york. It has that type of sleek, refined, and CRAMPED feeling to its decor. I ordered the egg omelet of some sort and it was pretty decent. Went on a Sunday, waited for 20 minutes for a table and 30 minutes for food. The wait and anticipation may have made me a bit cranky. I am willing to go back and try again.

Service is so terrible that the food quality doesn't even matter, there is no way I will ever come back. I understand that restaurants have their target customer group but just because my husband and I do not look and dress like the hipsters, it does not mean you can stuck us in a tiny table right behind the front door and ignore us. There was plenty of staff socializing and offering tea tasting for the other customers who have the 'right looks'. The entire wait staff have a bored 'faux debonair' look and the waitress who eventually granted her presence was snobby and condescending. Orders were slow and came after about 20 minutes wait and there was no attempt on her part to refill our coffee or water throughout, she's too busy socializing with the regulars. The lox bagel and omelette were okay but really not that special. For over 40 dollars for breakfast for two, it is not worth it. I'll drive a little further to go to Patachou where we always get good food and service.

We chose to go here for our monthly Girl's Lunch which I was excited about because I had never been before. The menu is different from a lot of the other restaurants in this area in that it had several vegetarian options and not much meat on the menu. Three of us chose the salad and sandwich combo (including myself). I wasn't that impressed with the fresh veggie sandwich but the summer salad was excellent. The other three girls got the chicken on ciabatta bread and seemed to enjoy it. However, the menu said it came with coleslaw and it was brought to them with field greens. None of them cared enough to complain so that wasn't an issue. Their desserts change from day to day and today there was an ice cream sandwich made with almond cookies and coconut ice cream. It looked delicious but I'm not a big fan of coconut so I passed. The brownie of the day was a chocolate chip brownie with rosemary. I tried a bite of someones and it was pretty good though I didn't really taste the rosemary. They do have a very large selection of teas and even a few coffees from around the world. They started everyone off with a sample of the snowflake tea which was nice. The server was friendly though I think she could have been slightly more attentive. We ran out of water and no one came to refill it. But in the end the entire lunch from sit down to finishing paying the bill took about an hour which was good. We went on a Wednesday afternoon so it wasn't crowded at all but we did put in a reservation just in case. Personally I'd choose Serenity in Zionsville over this place but I'm happy we gave it a shot.

The food here is pretty good. It is definitely all fresh and innovative and probably local. It just often seems to be not quite what I want. And it is rather pricey. Definitely a good stop if you are looking for a local breakfast destinition on the NW side.

After all the good things I've heard about Tulip Noir, it pains me to write a one-star review... We (my 86-yr-old mother and I) arrived at Tulip Noir at 12:45pm on a Wednesday. There were a few tables open, and we were graciously offered one where she could easily get to a seat, rather than having to navigate her walker between the sardine-tight tables and make everyone move for her. A couple of minutes later, Sonya came to our table to bring menus and offer drinks. Our water and coffee arrived quickly. But it was nearly 15 minutes before she came back to take our order. She didn't explain the specials until we asked, and we ordered the half-soup/grilled cheese special and a bagel with lox. I didn't think of telling her we only had half an hour left before we needed to head to a doctor's appointment, but really... what about that order could take long?? Well, twenty minutes later, and our water glasses were empty, our stomachs were growling, and our food was nowhere in sight. So I got up and found her by the kitchen. "Oh, hi, can I help you?" "We need to leave in ten minutes, so if our food isn't ready, we'd like to pay for our coffee so we'll have time to stop at Jimmy John's." "Oh, your bagel is ready, and so is your soup, and the grilled cheese is being cooked right now..." (Our soup is READY? As if it's cooked to order??) So, pretty soon our food arrives. The celery curry chicken soup is a sweet curry that has too much curry, and my mother (who is a reasonably sophisticated eater) turns to her grilled cheese. It's done panini style, and the bread is so ...robust(?) that it's a bit of a battle. My salmon bagel is not assembled, which may be a plus or a minus, depending on your preferences. But the cream cheese is so spiced that it's more like a boursin, and the onions are a too-sweet semi-sauteed version of caramelized onions. Oh, and the bagel is a dry whole-wheat bagel that has little character, and was not toasted. (Try Bagel Fair's bagels, if you like bagels!) The three rolled-up slices of smoked salmon were plenty for 3/4 of the meal, but really, who's going to have 1-1/2 slices of rolled-up salmon per bagel half?? So, for the 45 minutes we were there, It went from acceptable to face-palm. If Sonya had notice the empty water glasses, we would've mentioned our rush. And it was so noisy (like the original Patachou at 49th & Penn, only with tables exponentially closer together) that we couldn't really converse. And the food was far from great. Oh, and did I mention that our tab was $26, before tip? So, my verdict on Tulip Noir: One 'n done.

Freakin Awesome food! this is the way restaurant should be, cheap, unpretentious, casual, but classy all the same. not that filling, but cheap, so order two things. Great tea and drinks (no alcohol). One thing; Loose the baseballs, I know you think it's cute but its just weird. (they strung up a bunch of baseballs for someones bday and never took them down)

I really, really want to give Tulip Noir 5 stars. They have an incredible menu which rotates with the seasons, some of the best coffee I have ever tasted at a brunch-themed restaurant, and an incredible selection of teas. However, when I dined at Tulip Noir, we were rushed a bit by the wait staff, and realized halfway into our meal that Tulip Noir closes at 1:00p.m. on Saturdays. 1:00 closing time for a brunch restaurant on a Saturday?!? This absolutely blew my mind. Most of my friends probably wouldn't consider going to lunch until noon or one - we arrived at 12:45 and barely even made the cutoff for being served. I kid you not, five different groups tried to come in and eat after us - FIVE! including a massive family that was extremely disappointed that they would not be served. Brunch places should be open till 3 - at the very least, 2 - on Saturdays to accomodate the late risers and the lunching crowd. Anyway, I digress. As long as you arrive early enough, you will have a fantastic experience. We dined a few days after Tulip Noir had introduced their brand-new fall menu. I had the Sweet Potato Pancakes. They were probably the most unique and tasty pancakes I have ever tasted in my life. They reminded me a bit like a pumpkin pie of sorts - cinnamony, fall-esque, delicious, and with some fruit and fresh syrup. I ordered a side of turkey sausage as well - it was very good, but not as outrageously good as the pancakes were. My dining partner had this odd-sounding pasta and egg breakfast. He said it needed more sauce as it was slightly dry, but had great flavors and was something he had never even considered trying before. The coffee came in a french press - these folks know what they are doing when it comes to breakfast drinks. The orange juice was delicious too. They even give you a pitcher of ice water for your table, along with cucumber slices to freshen up your waters. Slightly on the pricy side when you add in drinks and sides. Two breakfasts, a side of breakfast meat, a coffee, and an orange juice, with tip, was around $35.00. I think the service would have been better had we not been dining close to closing time. Again, we just felt slightly awkward and rushed when we realized a few minutes after one that there were only 4 other diners in the restaurant and that the staff was closing up. However, the food was very, very good, and the breakfast beverages were excellent. Would definitely recommend if you are prepared to spend a little more than usual for high-quality flavors and drinks, and are able to arrive earlier than noon.

Delicious food, rock the espresso brownie; hang with the staff at the bar. I'd eat here everyday.
(5)Gretchen S.
Amazing selection of teas and a nice, modern interior. I had the soup and roasted vegge sandwich, both of which were quite good.

We went here on a Saturday morning around 9. We had never been here, and we were excited to try something different. We were so disappointed in the service the food didn't even matter. When we arrived the place only had customers at 5 or 6 tables. We walked in, and after looking around for a sign or a server were told by a server walking by to sit anywhere we wanted. She came back to give us menus, but no smile, no greeting. Odd, but maybe she was busy with something elsewhere. We looked over the menu extensively, then chatted as we waited for someone to come over and offer coffee or water or a suggestion on how to get waited on. At one point my friend saw someone get up and go into the kitchen and grab something and joked that we were supposed to serve ourselves. I think it was an employee, but you get my point. The waitress, when she finally returned, acted annoyed that we were there, barely spoke two words to us, took our orders without comment or a smile, and made me wonder if she was having a bad day or if this was their normal customer service. We finished, and our dishes sat. Our water glasses were never refilled, not even once. Not once did she ask how things were, if we needed anything, nothing. We compared the service to the art on the wall...cold and sterile. It left a bad taste in my mouth not anywhere worth the prices...both of us are willing to pay extra for local/organic/etc, but the small plates, high prices, and shoddy service left me feeling like I wasted time, money, and an experience. We won't be back.
(1)C A.
Appreciate the attempt, but not enough food for too much money. The coffee was good and I would love to spend a month exploring the teas, but not enough to make me go back.

Good place for breakfast I got the quesadillas..nice simple and modern decor..

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY; DON'T BRING YOUNG KIDS! Friends who attend Tulip Noir regularly invited us to Brunch with them today with their 13 month-old son. It was my 2nd visit & my husband's 1st visit. We had a lovely brunch with fresh ingredients, wonderful teas & French press coffee. The restaurant was prepared with a highchair for my friends & the hostess placed us in the front room which allowed more room for the chair to fit at the table & the area was less crowded. Icing on the cake was that the waiter was glad to put in a quick order for the baby so we could get some food FAST for him. Based on the entire check-in process, I would have thought this establishment was pro-kids. My friends are so organized with taking their son everywhere. So, they had a mat for the table to catch all of his food mess & mentioned that they always tip super-well when out w/ their son due to the mess that kids can make (especially on the floor). All which should seem normal to a restaurant that welcomes kids. It's par for the course, right? Well, the 13-month old dropped some raisins on the floor & some patrons stepped on them... "raisin droppings" where found in other places in the restaurant. So, the owner came up to our table (at first not realizing we were with one of her most regular customers) & reprimanded our whole table & asked that we be more conscientious. Then she bend down & even started picking up all the raisins on the floor (around our feet event). Then, she noticed my friend, Robin, and quickly switched to the "wonderful/nice owner," said "hi" to her & told us that she hoped we understood the issue with the raisins. OK...fine. We did get over that & we stayed for 20 minutes more. Just as we were getting ready to leave, their son dropped a small glass & it broke. It was relatively small, so the mess was minor & it was right under our table. The tall, cute, young waitress rolled her eyes & mumbled "Oh My God" with her lips. And, the busboy said that they'd take care of it. So, we apologized & walked outside where we stood chatting for about 10 minutes. Our waiter, Matt, then came outside to talk to us, let us know that the glass was a big deal; that they cost $8 & that we needed to be more careful, as they can't afford to have that kind of stuff happen. He didn't ask us to pay for it...he just really wanted to make sure that this family felt really bad as they enjoyed their Sabbath Sunday together with friends. I love their organic food; I love the teas & coffees; I love the fresh, organic ingredients; I love the location. I don't like how they treat & regard people. This restaurant puts their control & type-A micro-perfection over the actual consideration for the real-life experiences of their customers. And, for that, we will not be coming back. If customers are really their center, then offering grace to a wonderful [regular] customer is expected. Especially on a Sunday (when the sermon was actually about Grace & showing love to others).

I have been for lunch twice. Each time I thought, I like the food, love the tea list, hate the atmosphere. The comments about the service being spotty is probably true, although since I've only been twice not sure I can accurately comment. I like the food offering (lunch menu) as it's one of the few places to get great veggie food. If you can make the place warmer (and maybe that comes with friendlier) you'll go up in my book.
(3)Michael S.
Excellent and healthy restaurant!!!
(5)Todd R.
I can honestly say that this is a very, very, very close 2nd best breakfast in Indy next to Patachou. Reason 1: Awesome tea selection. They bring you a sample of the tea of the day automatically. Today it was a tropical fruit green tea. Fantastic (and the server even made an iced tea out of it!) Plus there are dozens of drink, tea, and smoothie combinations. Reason 2: Their killer scrambled eggs. I've had 'em twice and wouldn't dream of adding salt, pepper, or anything to them. Actually, they are not eggs of a killer kind. Their Omega 3 eggs so they are healthier than most. Reason 3: The food is just darned good and darned good for you. The bacon was not salty at all, but tasted good and was mostly meat. The whole grain toast was super tasty and not over-buttered (it comes buttered to you, just a warning to you that like it dry, request that it is dry.) And of course the aforementioned Pancakey's are just delicious and done very well! I can see this place becoming a weekly stop for me, and if I keep yelping it, many more of my fellow yelpers may join me! Peace.
(5)lynn f.
Food is really good. But service was terrible. Our waitress was one of the worst I ever had. I can't begin to explain all the things she did, never once apologizing.
(3)Erika R.
We waited for a half hour for a 5 top table for Sunday brunch. Pricey for the portions. Told yes we can do that, and then sorry no we cannot, and then yes it's ok again- so confusing. (on making a simple breakfast 1 pancake, 1 egg, 1 bacon) They take reservations, but only have so many per hour since the place is so small. Love the atmosphere. I Wish the service was better. I Wish we had another tea place that was more reasonable in price and in service. (I miss the Tea Cozy downtown Indy:) I Need nice, and knowledgeable!
(2)Kara F.
I give this place a 5 for concept and a 3 for execution, for an average of 4 stars. The walls are a little too stark, the wait for food was a little too long, the tables were a little too close together, the portions were a little too small, and prices were a little too high. My eggs benedict was good, but not out of this world. My matcha (green tea) with soymilk was amazing though! However, I'm glad there's a place like this in Indianapolis - green, healthy, local, organic, classy food. There can't be many places in town where you can get blooming teas - those things are the epitome of class. With some minor improvements, Tulip Noir could easily be a 4 or 5 star place.
(4)Tristan S.
I've been back several times since my first review, and received spot-on service each time during lunch, as well as fresh food. So as I promised in that first review, Tulip Noir is now a 5 in my book. Looking forward to breakfast some time!
(5)M H.
This is honestly one of my favorite places to go in Indianapolis. As a foodie, but also a vegetarian and health nut, this place is absolutely stellar. Very rarely do I have difficulty choosing what to order--there are so many healthy / vegetarian options and I know they would all be good. It is a little pricey, but the atmosphere is chic and calm which I think makes it worth it. Also their tea and coffee selection is very diverse--another Indy novelty. Love this place--would go here everyday if my pocketbook allowed. As a side note: I think I prefer their breakfast menu to lunch, but the salads are also super tasty. Can you tell that I cannot stop gushing about this place?
(5)Angelina T.
The restaurant is very cozy. There is limited seating so I would make a reservation if you are going at a crowded hour (e.g. lunch). Parking near the restaurant is also limited since it's in the middle of a small shopping center (they share). There might be a little bit of a walk. They have a cute bar area where you can sit too, if you don't want a table. Our server was very friendly. He immediately offered us a sample of the tea of the day. He checked in on us and was knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered tea to start. It came in very interesting serving dishes that filtered out the leaves (also available for sale). We split the chili as an appetizer. It wasn't too spicy and vegan! Very delicious. I ordered the chicken ciabatta, which was very tasty but a little difficult to eat. The contents couldn't quite stay between the bread. My date ordered the quesadilla, which he did not enjoy. We split a chocolate milkshake at the end --- delicious! One last note: They offer many vegan options! I would definitely recommend eating here.
(4)Ed S.
Great service, exceptional food, nearly perfect coffee! We will be back for sure!
(5)Angela T.
I stopped going here about a year ago because I was displeased with their service but I was looking for a healthy lunch option and decided to give it another try and I am glad to say that I did. My service today was excellent. It is predominantly filled with we will say "ladies who lunch" but my boyfriend accompanied me to lunch and while he was a little miffed that they offered neither Coke nor Pepsi. However he loved his chicken ciabatta sandwich and my veggie sauté on quinoa was awesome. I doubt we will come back every week for lunch but for a day where something light and healthy sounds good this is definitely a great choice. Even my boyfriend (who admittedly looked out of place) said we would definitely have to come back.
(4)Richard H.
Charming place for brunch, breakfast or lunch. Creative menu of well-prepared foods, lovely, bright interior. The staff was very friendly and efficient -- except for our server, who did not tell us the daily specials, spoke so softly we couldn't understand most of what was being said, failed to deliver part of our order and never ever checked back to see if we needed anything. But still, I'd go back, because the food was excellent, and it was apparent that the other servers were terrific.
(4)Mark W.
Best breakfast in Indy! Wonderful tea selection, great fresh fruit and scones. Dina the owner is lovely!
(4)Tina I.
Wish I would have read review before I went! While the menu looked lovely and I adore the idea of fresh, local, healthy food from a non-chain restaurant, I did not like the way we were treated. I should have left when the waiter looked at me with disdain for wearing running clothes and having 2 of my children with me. I should have left when he failed to come take our drink order. I finally left when the snobby waiter asked my children (who were sitting very quietly) to not use their pens and paper so as to not get marks on the LAMINATE table. If you do not welcome children at your restaurant, be upfront about it, and don't tout yourself as a healthy fresh food alternative if you only want a Carmel ladies who lunch cliental.
(1)Daniel M.
Great service, delicious food. Check out the Eggs Benedict and the teas are awesome. A little overpriced, but the service makes up for it.
(5)Jesse H.
Based on some of the other reviews, I was a little apprehensive about the service. However, I would rate my first experience here very high. I met a friend for breakfast at 7a on a Friday. Our server, Meredith, was pleasant, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. First thing, she offered us samples of the tea of the day, a Tie Kuan Yin Oolong tea. I promptly ordered more, and was excited when she brought out an hourglass sand timer and two large tea mugs with integrated infusers. Exquisite! I ordered the Sam's Eggs Benedict - "one farm fresh poached egg perched atop a vegetable saute of kale, spinach, onion, mushrooms butternut squash, and potatoes, topped with our divine hollandaise." It was a little pricey for the size ($9), but the quality was very high. The veggies were not overcooked, and the egg was poached perfectly. I'd say it was delicious! The only minor thing that detracted from the experience was that one of the halogen light bulbs above our table began flickering - just an annoyance. I will be returning soon!
(4)Kelly M.
Kudos to tulip for the super gluten friendly menu! Great selection of teas with a free sample given @ the table. The gf menu goes beyond the typical by offering baked good options (rare). The food was good, but the service was painfully painfully slow. My beloved ordered eggs Benedict and although it looked good, it was too..authentic? This place would be great for foodies, which I (and my beloved) are definitely not.
(3)Maeleen H.
Service was great and the predominantly female crowd - thirtysomethings and up looked really happy. I was happy too with my sandwich and soup combo. However, the portions are not as generous as those at Taste Cafe and the scone I ordered, though delicious was too small. The fresh blueberry cobbler with ice cream is a must order. The menu is extensive and full of good stuff but I think the best bargain is Taste.
(4)Amanda Z.
I don't know why it took me so long to try this place out! My friend and I went yesterday morning and had the best breakfast!! One thing I don't skimp on is my breakfast and Tulip Noir definitely satisfied! Looking at the menu, my friend and I had a really hard time deciding what to get because EVERYTHING sounded good. We decided to split the mini pancakes, which were 5 tiny whole wheat pancakes topped with cinnamon, bananas and sliced almonds and came with honey on the side. I had a egg sandwich and it was really yummy- I opted to get it with a scrambled egg instead of a fried egg and it came with pesto, spinach and prosciutto (I got it without the prosciutto) on an english muffin. We both finished our plates and were satisfied without feeling full and lethargic for the rest of the day! It's a little on the pricey side, I think our bill came out to be about $25 for the two of us and that was without anything to drink besides water. They do have a really extensive tea list but we opted to just stick with water, which was flavored with cucumber slices- a nice surprise! I don't mind paying a little extra for breakfast when you know you're getting quality ingredients, when the meal is pretty healthy and when you get to support a local business!! I am knocking just 1 star off for service. Teenagers waiting tables isn't a bad thing, but when it's apparently the morning after the junior prom, and your server seems to want to rehash his evening with his friends instead of making sure his customers have water, it kind of can be a bad thing!

I'm so geeked! Places like Tulip Noir are far and few between around here. Each of us started our lunch off with some brewed at your table hot tea. (*they offer a full menu of loose leaf teas*) Both their tea menu and food menu changes each season. For lunch we both had 1/2 sandwich and soup combo. They offered two soup specials. Curried lentil soup and pureed artichoke, carrot and onion with a splash of cream. We both had the artichoke soup and a 1/2 of a provolone, tomato and pesto panini. DELISH! The soup was not as creamy as what we were both expecting it to be but still good. The atmosphere is nice and crisp. Services was a little flustered but over the top - thanks Will and Korine. Tulip Noir Cafe is a must, especially if you are a tea drinker.

Good food! Complaints: - Service is spotty - Expensive - Atmosphere is a bit try hard But other than that this is a perfect brunch spot. The food is beautiful and delicious. The Eggs Benedict I had w/ prossciutto (sp?) was great though a bit sour. I got a fruit smoothie that was delicious while pricey (5 bucks is ridiculous, I'm sorry). They had great tea selection too! If you are looking for a weekend brunch spot with good grub that's a bit of a splurge, than this place is perfect. I think I may even prefer it to Cafe Patachou! But if you are looking for a cheap sit down breakfast, go to Le Peep.

I LOVE this place! Whenever I am in town from St Louis I make my friends take me here every morning! :) they have amazing, creative food, really nice people, and great teas and coffees. I wish we had a Tulip Noir in St Louis :(

My review lies somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. My husband said the eggs Benedict were the best he'd ever had. The eggs looked to be perfectly poached, & the Hollandaise was light & lemony. My veggie quesadilla was good, and my soy latte was fantastic. They have a lot of options for vegetarians, even though they don't have a huge selection & even offer vegan pancakes, which I almost got. Most of the dishes are egg-centric, & eggs make me nauseous, so my personal choices were limited, but that's not their fault. They have a huge amount of hot teas available. Now for the bad: The server was really inattentive & didn't check on us until we were done eating, when we had to ask for more water. The rosemary potato trio was great, except for each red potato was undercooked & crunchy. I make these at home; they're not hard. I wish they had a few other options for sandwiches aside from the quesadilla & 2 egg sandwiches, & when I went today there was no wi-fi available, so they may have done away with it. Also- it's not a quiet place. Don't go there if you have a headache. Overall- Food's really good, but the service sucks. Good for breakfast if you're into that, but I've never been a big breakfast fan.
