This review focuses on mainly the ambiance and customer service of the place. I haven't tried the food. We have been looking at wedding venues. My mother found this restaurant online so we went to check it out. Beautiful decor, despite the location of the place. We ended up not choosing this place because of the 3 flights of stairs (there are several elderly people on our list) and also because the main room probably only seats 50 to 60 at most. We were told it seated 100, which would've been nearly impossible based on the count and tables already placed. This place would be great for an anniversary party, and hors d'oeurves.

Large restaurant. Quiet. Pretty chandeliers and decor. We were greeted by the young hostess and seated quickly. Our waitress came over and introduced herself and took our drink order. We ordered the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer, we got 6 shrimp for 10.99 He got the prime rib with a side salad, mixed veggies and green beans. The prime rib was delicious! Green beans a little too soft with zero flavor and the vegetable medley was ok. Salad was small... Maybe 6 bites worth of lettuce, 2 cucumbers and 2 cherry tomatoes. I ordered the NY strip steak medium rare. Great flavor. Pretty good cut, not too much fat. Our bill was $98 for one appetizer and 2 meals. They offered bread which neither of us took which I'm wishing we did bc I'm still hungry. A bit disappointed.

I would give 3.5 stars. Service was great. Food was good, a bit pricer then expected. Beer list was limited but wine list was better. The table needed adjusting, very unstable. The inside was hard to explain. Could def use a makeover. We would go back.

Well if you are old this maybe the hottest place in Indy. The food deliver is slow and you feel like they may have forgot you. The food was off. I had the penne vodka. The sauce must have been really expensive cause it was just thick enough to tint the penne noodles pink. There were 5 marble sized meatballs and 4 mushroom slivers. But the Garlic was real thick. The plates the food came on were so hot I burned my fingers and the kids had to be shield from them. They seated us on the patio with no light, except the 10 or 15 people who kept coming out and smoking near us. All the cigarette s gave it a candle feel. I felt bad for leaving a tip. Good Luck!

Large portions perfectly cooked meals. I will be back. Even my mom enjoyed it and had no complaints and she's super picky.

We love the food and love the service. We are so thankful that there was a groupon offer! I don't think we could afford the food if we didn't have that coupon. Overall the food was some of the best we had.

Came here with my colleagues and had a great experience. I had the salmon and smashed potatoes. My friends enjoyed the Blue Cheese Strip with Green Beans and Smashed Potatoes... They said it had been cooked perfectly and I would agree just by looking at them both. Desert is good as well. I had the brownie, and one of my coworkers had the cheesecake which is prepared in house by the pastry chef. Awesome! I also liked the beer selection, had a good amount of brews that were seasonal from Indiana and W. Michigan. Definitely a place to check out when you're hungry and nearby the airport! I'll definitely be back if I'm in town.

Prime rib was excellent done to wellness requested & a great cut with little fat, sides were hot, well seasoned & tasted great. The stuffed brownie sundae was good too! Portions to cost were good & we were very satisfied. The artwork in the main room was nice to look at. Spouse had the Bourbon Pork Chop & he enjoyed that. Staff was friendly, attentive & had refills without asking doing a fabulous job (waitress was even training in new staff & did a good job training too). Would recommend to those staying in the area! Glad I read a lot of the different reviews as I would have missed out on the brownie sundae & was glad I got the prime rib. Would like to come back sometime & get the Walleye as that also has gotten rave reviews too.

In town for work for a few weeks so I'm staying down the street at one of the hotels. The food is really good. I've had the chicken Caesar salad, pretty standard. Chicken curry soup, delicious, 8oz prime rib, perfect, and chicken Marsala, yum. The service however was not so great. Get delivery, quick service and you don't have to deal with the staff.

I decided to take my husband the The Library Restaurant & Pub for his birthday because he loves prime rib AND there was a good deal on Groupon! When we first walked in The Library, I was a bit surprised to be honest. I expected a fine dining experience, but that was not quite what it looked like inside. The tables are put in a large room with minimal decor. There was a buffet table that was not being used that was pushed up against one of the walls. It just wasn't exactly what I expected from a place known for more upscale food items. Anyway, the food was all delicious. We ordered the appetizer sampler, but if I were to go again I would just get the stuffed mushrooms. They were wonderful! I ordered the stuff salmon and my husband had the prime rib. Both entrees were cooked perfectly. I saw another review where they said they were unable to order their meat medium rare, but we did not have that same problem. The creme brulee was creamy and flavorful. It was the perfect end to a tasty meal!

Coworkers and I went to The Library for lunch. We got salad bar with soup and few other items and I got take home order as well. Food was fantastic and price was descent for an upscale place. Will definitely go back.

Tried the Library out on a living social deal for a dinner on Friday night. Atmosphere is clean and well organized. The wait staff was very attentive. Never went a moment without a full water glass. Tried the library appetizer which included potato skins, stuffed mushrooms, and shrimp cocktail. They make their own cocktail sauce that had good spice to it. For the main course I had the salmon with rice and squash medley. The salmon was cooked well and the squash was was seasonally good. My BF had the mushroom steak medium rare with baked potato and green beans. The steak was overcooked and most of the juice was in the mushroom cap under the steak. The green beans and potato were to his liking. They are known for their prime rib which they were OUT OF on a Friday night at 6pm. Several tables around us had wanted to order it but could not. Bummer. Their drink selection looks reasonably priced but they do not have a happy hour. It was so hot the day we were there so the patio seating was out of the question.

I chose to sit in the bar area. Service was prompt and friendly. Erik was both bar tending and serving yet provided awesome service to me and everyone around me. Started with a signature banana martini which was refreshing and not too sweet. I had the stuffed shrimp and it was an ample portion and very tasty. Often times stuffed shrimp entrees end up dry but these shrimp were tender. Drink and entree prices were reasonable. I will return if i find myself in the area again!

I went to The Library last night and had a very good dinner. While the furnishings and ambience are a little sparse, the food was great as was the service. On the waitress's recommendation, I had the Filet Mignon steak and was glad I did. It was as good as any steakhouse in New York City. I would definitely go back here again and recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

We are on our way to the airport. This is a restaurant this close to Indianapolis airport. Since it's the Friday before Easter, we enjoyed their cod sandwich. It is an enjoyable atmosphere and the waitress was cordial and prompt. The salad bar was very good. The waitress recommended it so we could save some money.

We have only eaten here once, a month ago, but I was very impressed. We live in Bloomington so we cannot visit as often as I would like. I liked it sooo much that we are going up tonight and taking a friend. For the people that made 2 and 3 star comments I would like to say, this is not Outback, or Texas Roadhouse, the food is excellent and you pay for the difference. It is a very unique place, don't be thrown off by the word "Pub" it doesn't mean Bar and Grill. I look forward to eating there tonight and I will like you know if my opinion changes.

My "filet mignon" was I guess what I should expect for an office park restaurant. The Caesar salad was also about what you should expect out here in the Midwest. I should have just gone to Arby's.

The Library stands out among a sea of generic chain restaurants in the greater Indianapolis area. The service was quick and the food was very tasty. I recommend one of the salads. Our server was very kind and responsive to our needs. The hostess was also incredibly cute which added to the overall fun atmosphere of the place!

Thirds time here and the food is always great. Very friendly service. Amy the bartender is awesome. She is fantastic. Met the owners tonight as well and they struck me as no nonsense, cater to the patrons. Serve excellent food and provide great service. They host special dinners and also do provide room service for local hotels. If you stay in the area you should really try this place. Steaks prepared perfectly. Stuffed shrimp are excellent.

Sat at the bar on a Saturday night. Amy, the bartender, was very personable and helpful. We started out with some beers and she provided samples of the ones we had never tried before. Then we ordered the soup of the day which was brought out with some bread, both of which were delicious! I split the ribeye with my husband and they were nice enough to split it up for us, which is appreciated since some restaurants charge extra for that! We finished the meal with the brownie and ice cream and the carrot cake, both of which were awesome delicious! Amazing food, great service, and walking distance from the hotel....perfect! Thanks for a great night and meal!

Appears to be popular - mostly people stuck out by the airport on business like me. Always sit at the bar & order the walleye. Not the best in the world, but worthy of 3 stars. The salad & sides, not so much. Nice local beers on tap. Would I go to the LR&P if I lived in Indianapolis? Doubtful......

A couple of friends of mine and I were coming down to Indianapolis for a mini-road trip from Chicago. We searched on Groupon for deals in the area for dinner. We discovered The Library Restaurant & Pub. Upon walking into the restaurant, it was a nice intimate homey feel upon walking in. There were barely any people inside the restaurant, although it was much later after dinner time, so that was not too much of a surprise. We ordered an awesome appetizer the Italian Sausage Mushrooms, they were by far the best part of the meal. Two of our guests ordered the "Legendary Prime Rib" and another ordered the Stuffed Shrimp. The Prime Rib was nowhere close to legendary. The food was mediocre at best, not worth the full price that they were charging. It is not a place that we would go to again, although if had another opportunity, would try different cuts of meat, such as the New York Strip or Sirloin. The service was above average, as they seemed to take care of us well. Other than that, it was a mediocre restaurant, but the Mushrooms and service helped raised their ranking from 2 to 3 stars.

My waitress Amanda recommended the filet and it was fantastic. The grilled romaine salad was very good also. Enjoyed dinner here and will come back when I'm in town.

If you are ever staying around the Indy airport, I would go here. I've stayed around here a few times and this is the only place even remotely close to worthy visiting. I had the prime rib and it was pretty good. They benefit from being the only restaurant around, but do a good job.

    (3)
  • Jeff B.

Service was fast and quirky (waitress complained about her clothes being too hot). Prime Rib was very good, Walleye was great. Probably best restaurant in Indy Airport Hotel land.

This place is downright fun! The food is excellent. The atmosphere is really cool. This is a real gem in Downtown Carmel.

  • Thomas S.

They said that they were "Known" for their Prime Rib. I wish they had finished the sentence: "We are known for our Prime Rib being severely overcooked." I had ordered their "famous" Prime Rib Medium. Warm, pink center - yes, I know my meat temps. It came out well done. Grey, dark, lifeless. I NEVER send food back. But then I noticed my sides were also incorrect - So I assumed that they simply gave me someone else's plate, and asked for a new plate. I received the same plate of meat back (It was still where I had cut it) - the sides were correct but the manager tried to convince me it was just "the lighting." Since I never send food back, I suffered through my overcooked replacement. It was awful. Order your steaks two temps Rarer than you would prefer, and maybe they will get it right. But should you return it - know that it's YOU that are wrong, not them. And they are not going to lift a finger to make it better. It is especially galling, considering the inflated prices that they are charging. Our server was wonderful and friendly, but the price and food quality combine to provide an eating experience that is not just disappointing, but infuriating.

Good service friendly staff. Prime rib was cooked perfectly with large side portions. A great find. I will go there again the next time in Indianapolis

Within walking distance of the marriott courtyard, nice casual ambiance, small but good selection of draft beers. Prime rib was excellent, salad was good, my colleague had the stuffed shrimp and described them as good, but maybe not as famous as the menu described. Service was attentive. Would definitely go back if I tire of the marvelous marriott menu

Ribs are the best I've ever had. Fall off the bone slow cooked for 14 hours. Exceeded every expectation.

  • Doug W.

Had the 1/2 rack of ribs. Nothing special, sauce on the side was good (not Memphis BBQ ) no presentation. Definitely a location eatery. Next to colony of airport hotels and within walking distance. Good if don't want to drive to get dinner

Default restaurant ,,, meaning close to the hotel so we dined here. Ate at the bar. Not really anything stands out as terrible but the entire experience left us feeling hungry and overcharged. Scott tried the crab cake special and I had a wedge salad that they tried to serve me with brown lettuce and when I tried to return the bartender got angry. Next time I will drive a little further and just not settle for what's close.

I was taken here by a friend. As we pulled up I was a bit put off by the decor. It is not in a great area of town and the decor made it look like somewhere that I was not going to enjoy. Oh well, she picked, so here we were. The interior of the restaurant was actually quite beautiful. There is a lot of natural light, patio seating, and very high ceilings. They sat us in the bar area which was a bit strange and out of place, but it was okay with us. One guy - either the owner or a manager - came to us upon request to explain to us the history of the restaurant. It was very interesting! They started us off with focaccia bread and butter. I did not eat this but it smelled wonderful! I ordered a vegetable pasta with spinach, artichoke, onion, mushroom, and pesto. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the vegetables were cooked very well also. Everyone I was with truly enjoyed their meals and everything looked wonderful. The location of this restaurant is a major turn off for me, but the food really was quite delicious. It might be enough to bring me back!

We were driving down the street and happen to see a sign for a special dinner that night - dinner paired with a special Bourbon tasting. We called and got reservations, and it was worth it. The Bourbons were all excellent (and I am not usually a bourbon drinker) and the food courses were wonderful. I was actually quite surprised at the quality of the food. I travel extensively for business and have dined all over the world. The food was extremely well prepared here and matched the bourbons were we sampling beautifully. The décor of the restaurant had just been remodeled. The new color scheme was rich and inviting. There were several paintings around the restaurant that on first glance look like ordinary reproductions of famous oils. On closer look, you realize that they have all been altered slightly to add a touch of whimsy, such as Napoleon carrying a Champaign glass instead of a sword. I would definitely recommend the restaurant. We plan to return again and enjoy.

Good location for those staying by the airport. Service is good but the food is overpriced. Chicken caesar was ok but the chicken was dry. Co-worker had the steak burger and said it was decent but nothing spectacular.

Wonderful Prime Rib. The Seafood Sampler Appetizer has a unique twist. Awesome detail service by Peggy.

Simple but really delicious. The restaurant was able to modify their dishes to eliminate dairy and wheat. The server was attentive and really made me feel welcome. They have a good selection of beef, fish, chicken and pasta.

Best scallops ever. Prime rib was tender, but so, so. The decor was strange. We had a Groupon. $5 Martinis!

If you find yourself on the west side of Indianapolis and are looking for a great place to eat, take my advice and eat at The Library. The new menu and all of the choices are out of this world! Their nightly specials are mouth watering and inventive. It is hard for me to stick with old favorites when the feature of the day always sounds so good! I always have leftovers after dinner because I can't leave The Library without a stuffed brownie!

  • Ed B.

Had dinner on Saturday night at six, the place was not busy. I had the prime rib and my wife had the ribeye. The prime rib was very tender but without much flavor, my wife's ribeye was very flavorful but slightly over cooked ( Ordered medium rare got a definite medium ). The sides for both dishes were ok, and the service was very good. I thought that for the price the ribeye and wait staff are on par but the prime rib and sides were below.

We ate here last night after a convention we attended. The wait staff was pleasant and the food was good. The prices are high though. $50 bill for two hamburgers, two soups, and no alcohol!

I wanted to go to the Ethiopian place, but was overruled. I get the effort at a Napoleonic interior (and approve), I applaud their ambitious menu, and I honestly empathize in their falling so short of their aspirations; I've had my rough times, too. Into every life some rain must fall, the race is not always to the swift, etc. Only the hotels full of business travelers nearby could sustain prices so far ahead of the quality, service, and decor. The pork chop is $20-22! Yet, nachos, potato skins, and buffalo wings are among the appetizers at this restaurant of "Fine Steaks, Seafood, Pasta & Other Exceptional Fare". For a cohesive menu, they might restrict those to a bar menu. Steakburger ($10), weak on flavor, 5/10 8oz Prime Rib ($22), edges only were flavorful, 6/10 Green beans, overcooked & oily, 3/10 Rice pilaf, dry, tasteless, in the shape of an inverted cup, 3/10 French Onion Soup: little soup, cheese sprinkled ON the cheese ($5), 4/10 Service, excessively casual (also suggest a uniform), 4/10 Dining room decor, suggest framing the art (to match new chairs), 2/10 We didn't check out the lounge, so I can't speak for it. I like the underlying concept, but it didn't deliver on anything, and clearly depends on captive business travelers from the hotels two blocks away to survive.

    (1)
  • Kelvin H.

Sat at bar two drinks one starter took 90 mins and no sign of entree appearing. staff appear to be oblivious to the concept of customer service. Management need to invest in a serious course in getting staff focussing on the customer not their own lives

Nothing special here. Service it good. It's way over priced for mediocre food. This is the kind of place you'd find Gordon Ramsey tearing apart on hells kitchen.

  • Paul C.

I come here often for business (Indianapolis) and have been here before hoping for a better experience. Ordered a $22 chicken dish with brandy sauce and apple (waiter recommended). Not much chicken (dry) and mush pasta and bone dry broccoli (which was freezer burnt). Then ordered some side tomato sauce to add some flavor, and it was nothing more than a watery sweet mess. It's too bad because the place could be really nice. It's a nice spot for business people for a late dinner/drink. With a Wiley salad, desert and 2 beers it was $50. If this place continues as is it won't be around much longer. Kitchen Nightmares please give these guys a call!

This place was absolutely incredible. How is such a 5 star level of food in a 3 star part of town. We were there for the motorcycle expo in February, but I remember the prime rib like it was yesterday. Perfect blend of seasonings and preparation went into my meal. I was part of a party of 6 and we were just blown away by what we got. Were the prices high? A meal is only expensive if it taste awful and this place delivered the goods that warranted the prices on the menu. The best part of the meal though was the desert. There is not one thing they missed there. Like I said, 5 freakin' stars!!!!

Average catering quality food at fine dining prices! There may not be anything better in the area though! Scampi with red sauce?!?! Wild rice?! Decent enough steak. Very nice people. Good service. But... way overpriced for what it is... have a burger!

  • Tom P.

In town for business, this was reccomended as a decent steak place and really the only place near the airport hotels. Has both resturant and bar/lounge area. Steaks were excellent, if not a bit pricy. Meals included veggies and potato. Meals were about $20-$30. I would recommend the ribeye. I would dine here again.

  • Cary K.

Three stars based on my dining experience back in November of 2010, one star based on my dining experience from last night (based entirely on food quality). I'm not willing to give it a third shot. Seems like a decent enough place if you wish to sit at the bar, enjoy a drink, and catch a game on the TV. Not sure if it's some of their dishes that are hit or miss, or the chefs that work certain nights are hit or miss, but some sort of inconsistencies must be abound for others to praise the food.

  • Gerrit L.

Pretty pricey and spotty service. My Prime Rib was decent, not great. I stayed near the airport and there is nothing out there. Regretted spending the money. Should have just taken my lumps with fast food.

In town for work, I stopped in to The Library Restaurant on the recommendation of the folks at the Fairfield Inn (right across the street). I was thrilled to see they have a vegetarian menu and could pack something to go (I needed to do a little work back at the hotel). The service was great and I thought everything was fantastic, but when I got back to my room and started to eat my "vegetarian" grapefruit salad I noticed tiny little pieces of bacon in the salad. Was this some kind of joke for the vegetarian? Hello? I'm not laughing.

  • Robert S.

My first impression was an uninviting and cold vibe. Service was excellent. Food was good. The menu had a wide selection with varying price levels. Good drinks at good prices. We stayed next to the airport and it was our best option. I would have given it 3.5 if I could of.

Quite the diamond in the rough. There are very few restaurants around the Sam Jones corridor, so that makes The Library even more special. The decor is oddly classy, but the atmosphere is very laid back. I have never had a bad experience there. The Salad/Soup/Pasta bar is all I have ever had and I don't think that I will deviate from that in the future. The salad bar is always the same, but it is a solid selection of greens and toppings with no problems. The soups and pasta always change and I have never had the same thing twice. I always try a little bit of everything, because their so good and so filling. BONUS DESSERT! Oreo mouse and apple butter with fried hushpuppies are worth the price of admission. It's a great lunch spot if you work/visit the southwest side. You won't find anything like it.

I came to the Library for a Friday lunch with business colleagues. I had already looked at Yelp for restaurants near their plant, and I was concerned about what they'd choose. This was a solid choice. The lunch menu consisted of several sandwich and wrap choices, and a soup, salad and pasta bar. The soup of the day was split pea soup, which is not my favorite. So I didn't go that way. Both of my colleagues did and they were quite happy. With a different soup- I would have like to try it. The salad looked crisp and fresh, 2 pasta choices, one of which was the steak gorganzola from the dinner menu and it also looked quite good. Both guys went back for seconds on it. I opted for a grilled tenderloin sandwich, which was a good choice. Fresh ingredients, good flavor, good choice. Service was friendly and attentive, neither the tea, coffee or diet pepsi ran empty ever and the buffet plates disappeared as quickly as they were cleaned off. I have driven by here several times near airport hotels and park and fly arrangements. This was my first time to go in and I'd like to come back and try them again. The dining room was quiet and easy for conversation. There was also a sign about tastings in the bar once a month- noted wine and rum, can't remember others, but sounds like a good event- good time to go.

Simple but elegant decor, one can be comfortable in jeans as well as dinner wear. Shrimp cocktail was better than St Elmo's, spicy but not overpowering. Hubby had a Nee York Strip which was slightly towards medium well but was well seasoned with a side of sautéed squash, a very fresh Caesar salad and a baked potato. I had the stuffed salmon and it to was slightly more cooked than I like my salmon but full of flavor and had a nice sear. I also had the sautéed squash and garlic smashed potatoes that were tasty. The hi-light was the creme brulee which was very creamy and perfectly torched. Our server Amanda was a delight. I would definitely recommend eating here.

We went to the Library when we were in town for a volleyball tournament. Found this on Yelp and it was perfect for us. Dressed up or dressed down...everyone fit in fine. I had the ribeye with smashed potatoes and green beans. Meat was prepared perfectly. Our waitress Courtney was friendly, down to earth, and not fake. The rest of the wait staff was also friendly and very attentive. The bread was also very good. Highly recommend!

Just stopped in for a late dinner as I am staying near the airport. Sat at the bar since I was alone and had great meal service from the bartender. I had Penne Vodka (Italian sausage & mushrooms with penne pasta in.a vodka tomato cream sauce. This dish was executed perfectly. I was very glad that I saved a hunk of the warm buttery crusty baguette to sop up every last but of the sauce. I was very hungry when I sat down but had to pass on dessert, though there were several that we're tempting. This was a VERY satisfying meal 'on the road."

My friend had been to Indianapolis once before and had dinner here previously. This was my first time to the Indianapolis area and this restaurant was recommended by staff at the Radisson hotel nearby. The hotel provided coupons for free dessert up to a total of $6. We arrived and did not have any issues with waiting. No reservations were required. We both has specials. I had a rib eye steak special with mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes and a side of zucchini/squash. My friend had a steak special with bread with a glass of Pinot Noir. We both had dessert. I had the creme brulee. The meal was very good. Service was very good. Waitress was very attentive. Atmosphere was nice. Unfortunately, I became violently ill a few hours later with major case of the runs. My friend informed me that he also was sick a little later into the night. I called the Library and spoke with the General Manager, Chris, to inform him that there was an issue and that he should check the kitchen for bacteria and sanitize it. He said that no one else had complained. I said that maybe they did not want to bother. He took my information and said that he would speak with the chef. If not for the incident, my rating would have been higher.

This place is very nice & clean in the inside. Before we arrived I called to ask about happy hour. They said no happy hour but we do have drink specials. We get there and the server says " Sorry we don't have any drink specials" I said but I just called 15mins ago. Then a 2 page list of drink specials was produced by the manager. Wow! We ordered mushroom appetizer. It was very good. I ordered the prime rib because that's what they are famous for. It came with 2 sides; I chose green beans and garlic mash potatoes. The beans were delicious cooked just right. Potatoes I was thinking where's the garlic? The prime rib was very bland no flavor. The horseradish had no bite. Very disappointed! I learned currently it's a big Fire Fighters Convention going on and that's why no drink specials were offered. How horrible! If anybody deserve to get a good drink at a cheap price it should be our Fire Fighters!

Mediocre. Steak was kind of gray. Half was medium and half medium rare. No char. Vinegary caesar. No prime rib because chef was off Sunday and it takes 18 hours. So usually the prime is day old. The offered bread never showed up. (Well honestly she asked if i would like bread not that she would get me some.). The rice pilaf was not pilaf but some type of boxed wild rice blend. (Not Uncle Bens since there was damn little wild rice)

We ate here last night and as far as the food goes it wasn't bad but not great either. Nice decor, clean and quite and the service was very good. We both had the ribeye steak which was tender and cooked to our order but I would have preferred that the greenbeans had been cooked until tender. The meal was expensive but filling. I dought we would go back.

The ribeye is to die for! Eric at the bar is very witty and super nice! Sit the bar and you will have a great time!

Late last Friday, my lovely wife Sharon took us to dinner at the Library. They stop serving dinner at 10 and we arrived at just after 9:00. We decided to sit in the bar. We were greeted by our very friendly server and we started with a Bacardi rum.and Diet Coke for her and a glass of Knob Creek Bourbon for me. After that, we both ordered their Prime Rib. Alongside a very flavorful side dish of vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes, the Prime Rib was prepared to perfection...medium rare for me, more well done for my wife. She went with the 8 oz. while.I went for the 12 oz. For coming in as late as we did, every aspect of the service was friendly, professional and attentive. We were not rushed at all. The dinner was great in every way including the Prime Rib, which was as good and fresh as I have ever had. For dessert, we shared a brownie creation that was rich with a decadent combination of chocolate and ice cream. Located 15-20 minutes west of downtown, it's easy to find and it is a dining destination in every sense of the word. They have a frequent diners club that offers real value and seems as genuine as the food, atmosphere and service is outstanding.

I question the veracity of some of the reviews (which, given the content, time span over which similar reviews were written, and reviewers' lack of other reviews (or friends), indicate that they may have been written by or solicited by restaurant staff. I've been here for lunch a couple of times because the person I went with worked near there at the time. There's not much on the west side of Indy, much less in Mars Hill, so this is about as good as it gets for those who live/work in the immediate area (or, like one reviewer mentioned, those on their way to the airport). But it's definitely not the type of place anyone from any other part of Indy or the surrounding cities would go out of their way to go. The first time I went here, it was for lunch, and the service was pretty awful. We hadn't even been there for 15-20 minutes and the waitress got really anxious, rushing us, saying her kids were there and she had to leave soon, etc. . . ridiculously unprofessional, and made us feel very uncomfortable. She probably figured it was better to be rude and rush us out of there than hand us off to a different server and have to split the tip with them (which makes me question why we even left a tip at all in that situation). The service has been okay on the other occasions, but nothing memorable.

Prime rib manhattan was amazing. If you want a steak this is the place to get it. Very cozy. Very cool. Great service. Wifey and I went with a Groupon. It's pretty pricey but nowhere near what you might pay elsewhere for a 45 day aged filet mignon. It's worth it.

Ordered the chicken cordon bleu with hollandaise sauce... Was delicious since there are not many places to choose from around here. The price was decent. It also came with two sides to choose from. I would come back again and try something else from their menu. Also if you are staying in one of the hotels near by they give you a coupon for a free desert.

We used a Groupon to visit The Library after dropping a friend off at the Indianapolis Airport. It was about a 5 minute easy drive from there, so quite convenient. We weren't quite sure what to order and deferred to our waiter on a couple of options. I chose the stuffed salmon and my fiance got the filet mignon. Each came with two sides. The stuffed salmon was right at $22 and the filet rang in at $28. I chose the sautéed green beans and rice pilaf for my sides while my fiance went for the mashed potatoes and seasonal greens (squash and zucchini). My stuffed salmon was very good. I enjoyed the Alfredo and feta cheese quite a bit. The green beans were a bit salty but still good. Rice pilaf tasted like rice pilaf. Pretty boring but I knew that going in. The filet mignon was good, but a bit dry and over cooked slightly. The potatoes were flavorful but again a bit salty. The veggies were also good. We both opted for dessert and were quite pleased. She got the creme brule and I had a named desert that was a shell with ice cream, nuts, and cinnamon. Kind of like a fried ice cream /sopapilla. Both were fantastic. The service was prompt and friendly. Our waiter never had us waiting for water or bread and didn't scoff at the fact we were using a Groupon. He also gave great suggestions for dinner (thanks Matthew!) The bathrooms were very clean and a peek into the kitchen seemed to reveal the same thing. Atmosphere was quiet, but it was a rather early dinner at around 5 pm. Overall a great experience. Gave 4 stars and it deserves a strong 4. The price was just a bit high to be underwhelmed with our sides.

---IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY ISSUE PLEASE SEE BOTTOM OF MY POST--- My boyfriend and I came here for Valentines Day. We tried: Stuffed mushrooms, which were pretty good. I didn't care for the sauce they were sort-of in but I liked them without it. French soup

Another time, when I wish there were half star ratings. This is more of a 2.5 for me, just average. Ambiance is defintely below 3 stars, reminded me of a sterile banquet hall. Service was 4 stars. I had the tenderloin salad, hard to mess this up or jazz it up too much for that matter. The blue cheese dressing needs a little work, IMO, thought it was too runny, I like mine thicker with big chunks for blue cheese...personal preference. Work friends had the stuffed shrimp platter, she said they were very rich. The sides of green beans and garlic mash potatoes were very good and a generous portion. Another friend ordered the chicken alfredo pasta, he seemed pleased with it, and was happy it was large enough that he didnt leave hungry :)) There are not a lot of options near the airport hotels, I might find myself there again one day. It was decent, just not knock your socks off. Want to add their ice tea, was gross, came to the table very cloudy and tasted old.

The restaurant was across from my hotel, and my co worker had been there before, so I figure what the heck. Had a great dinner. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing after a crazy day and long drive. Had the rib eye and it was great. Service was SPECTACULAR. Our waitress was Amy, who was very friendly and efficient. After dinner stopped by the bar for a nightcap. Had the chance to meet Eric, the bartender. Another great experience. Very friendly and fun. Had a great time Overall a great experience. I will be back, and you should too.

Great stuff mushrooms appetizer, but the calamari wasn't that good. The blood mary drink not recommended, but the service was good.

We came in late on a cold night and were treated with warmth from both the restaurant and the staff. The steaks were very nice - not perfect, but pretty darn good. It was a little pricy for the quality, but I would give it a second chance next time I'm in Indy.

I'm confused by all the great reviews. My friends and I felt like we were in the twilight zone. The ambiance was completely bizarre. Fancy chandeliers but linen-less tables, chairs straight from the late 70s or early 80s, and odd decor. Menu was straight out of the 80s, too. Snore. Nothing remotely inspired or creative. Don't mind paying $30+ for a filet if everything else is up to par. This place has some serious work to do.

I bought the Living Social deal for The Library specifically because I wanted to try the Prime Rib. I love Prime Rib and have been on a hunt for the best Prime Rib in Indy. My current favorite is Bynum's, and after dining at The Library...my current favorite is still Bynum's. My Husband and I had 7:30pm reservations, which I was glad I made because there were several people in the restaurant lobby waiting for a table. We were seated promptly. I liked the waitress and the art filled interior of The Library was nice, though it made me curious as to the name of the restaurant since there was nary a book nor anything else library-like in site. Now back to the Prime Rib,... Upon placing my order shortly after 7:30pm (with much anticipation I might add) for a 12 oz. medium-rare slice of goodness, I was informed that only medium and above choices were available. My face fell, quite visibly I'm sure. This was not anticipated since it was still so early in the evening. Since I had been looking forward to Prime Rib ALL DAY and it was the reason we were there, I went ahead and ordered the most rare medium they had. "Out of medium rare this early, REALLY?" I said to my Husband after the waitress walked away. (He wisely opted for the New York strip. Medium rare, of course. I suspect if I had been a "medium well" girl we wouldn't have made it past the first few dates.) When our meals arrived, I sliced into my Prime Rib, gamely giving it a try, very much wanting to like it. I didn't. It was plain. It was dry. It also wasn't medium, it was more next door to done I'd say. My plan was to eat it, because I was starving, the steak was there, and I didn't want to cause a ruckus. Combing the bites of steak with the mashed potatoes and rice pilaf I had ordered as sides, along with dunking each bite into the provided au jus, would get me by I thought. My Husband, sensing my disappointment, asked me about my meal though he already knew what my answer would be. He later told me he saw pain in my eyes. LOL. When the waitress stopped by, he spoke up first, saying what I felt bad about voicing out loud, and the waitress kindly and without a hint of irritation asked if I would like to order something else. I opted for the filet mignon, once again medium rare. I am happy to report that the filet, which was delivered in a reasonable amount of time later, was correctly cooked. (As was my Husband's New York strip, by the way, which I encouraged him to go ahead and finish while I waited for my replacement.). The taste though, was just okay, on the plain side. The same actually, can be said about the potatoes and rice pilaf I mentioned earlier. Not bad, but not like, "Wow, I can't wait to eat this again!" And not worth the $$ price of the The Library. Though he did not openly say so, I suspect my Husband felt the same was as he chose not to place either of his remaining sides (mashed potatoes and green beans) in our take home container. The best parts of the meal, I'd have to say, were the openers. The French Onion Soup (though I prefer Bynum's), the Cesar salad, and the bread. The bread especially was very good. Judging from the other Yelp reviews as well as the number of people dining there the night we went, The Library definitely has its fans. Perhaps we were there on an off night?

Had the ribeye, meat quality was low for the price. Sides were good, if under-seasoned. Restaurant was busy and understaffed - just one bartender trying to wait on the bar AND make drinks for all the servers - just flat couldn't keep up despite best effort. Servers getting frustrated with the bar arguing with the bartender in front of customers. Spent 15 minutes trying to get a beer before I finally just tabbed out and left. Would try it again on a less busy night.

I had a very enjoyable evening at The Library. Traveling on business, I sat at the bar. Bartender Amy is a true professional. When I explained to her that I didn't want all of my food at once, she completely understood...I was there for a dining experience, not simply to eat. I started with the Caesar salad which was enjoyable. Next was the chicken curry soup - absolutely delicious! I had been to The Library once prior and the corn chowder was fabulous. So the rule at The Library is "get the soup!" My entree was the stuffed salmon (stuffed with spinach & feta cheese) topped with pesto and crumbled feta. It was very good. I had a couple of Kentucky Bourbon Barrel beers at the bar (awesome brew). All in all, a great night of relaxed, casual dining. I will return and am confident you would enjoy a dinner at The Library. I gave it $$ for pricing...but I didn't hold back and my bill was more in the $$$ range. Thanks Amy!

The filet was delicious and the bourbon maple pork chop was amazing. The rice pilaf was only so-so. We got the "Venus Delight" for dessert, and we loved it. The restaurant is on the pricy side, but we had a Groupon to offset it a bit . My only complaint about the atmosphere was that it felt a little cold, and I felt very exposed in a very big, very open, very blue room. I wish it was cozier. We had our little one (9 months) with us, and we felt welcome. Of course, the food is the most important thing, and it was delicious.

Eh -it was ok for last minute Valentine's Day plans. There is not a broad range of menu items. The atmosphere and aura was a little strange for my personal taste. Not to mention the food was not that great either. I over heard the waitress use the same corny line about ordering the filet minion stuffed portobello over and over with each new seated table. Overall this place is missing that WOW factor but is not terrible. I won't ever return to say the least.

My hotel suggested this place, so i went for dinner on a Monday night. Bartender was very friendly, pasta with sirloin tips was delicious. I tried to go back three days later and found the hostess to be quite rude. I was just a party of one - not in a rush, just wanted dinner near my hotel after a long day. Dining room was crowded but I saw seats at bar open. But I was told I couldn't be sat for 30 minutes - I wasn't in a rush, just wanted dinner near my hotel. I would have been happy to sit and nurse a drink until I could order. But I wasn't given that chance - oh well. The area really has nothing to offer - I got the best service at the jimmy johns across the way!

Wow, dined here twice in 3 nights... Baked Walleye first night, Stuffed Salmon second night. Both were the best I have ever had. Absolutely delicious. The service was great. Amanda and Amy both had great recommendations, and were very attentive. If your in the area, and don't dine here, you have done yourself a great injustice.

We came to the airport the night before an early flight and looked for a good restaurant nearby. The hotel recommended The Library which had a quiet and clean atmosphere, excellent service, a helpful waitress, and delicious food. The bread was very good, the steak was seasoned just right and cooked to perfection, and the dessert our server recommended was light with such a wonderful blend of favors. I can't imagine why anyone would give less than a four star rating to this restaurant.

Our food was great. The service not so much.....slow and wrong drinks served. We could not tell if the fault was with the waiter, the kitchen or the bar. And I didn't notice until the end of the meal that sticky gunk had not been cleaned off the edge of the black table. So now I have to get my Ann Klein jacket cleaned. We will not be back.

We both had the prime rib. It was fabulous! My boyfriend made the comment that it was the first time in quite awhile that he had prime rib melt in his mouth. Their French onion soup was also wonderful. The only downside was that we sat in the bar area and it was a bit loud, but it's Friday night with no reservations and a massive convention in town. Next time, we'll likely make reservations and hopefully sit in the dining room.

This is one of my favorite spots in Indy. My wife and I usually go in the early evening, saddle up to the bar and enjoy a great steak and libation. The service is friendly (if slow sometimes--which I attribute to a busy kitchen) and the atmosphere is laid back and classy. The layout might seem a bit odd at first, but I feel that adds to the unique charm of this place. The food and staff is excellent. My singular complaint would be the lack of a diverse scotch selection, but that's a personal preference so I won't hold that against them. OH--if you aren't feeling anything on the dinner menu, just ask for the lunch/bar menu. I've found they typically won't mind cooking you something off them if you don't want a steak, chop or seafood for dinner.
