Great service! Very friendly. Big portions, small prices. We got fried chicken, tenders, collard greens, coleslaw, fries, Mac and cheese, and corn bread. Fried chicken is the best, tenders were yummy, collard greens are amazing, their coleslaw is the perfect flavor and creaminess, fries are perfect! Cornbread flavorful and delish, Mac and cheese is normal, son loved it. We will be coming again for sure!

I have had a LOT of soul food and this place here has to be the best I've had here in Indianapolis. Not only were the portions hugenormous, but they couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. It was a pure joy from the moment we ordered to the last bite (which didn't come soon -- my dinner was enough for two!). I couldn't be happier with everything about this restaurant and they DEFINITELY have some new regulars with us. The only thing I'm disappointed with is that we didn't find them sooner. Love!

A hidden spot in Indy with good soul food. Yes, it's in a sketchy neighborhood, but the food is good. They were out of fried chicken when I went, so I got turkey and dressing, which was tasty. I wished they had cranberry sauce instead of brown gravy to go with it. The mac and cheese was just OK, but the greens were great! Also, the caramel cake is super moist and tasty. Check it out.

I am amazed but not surprised that no one in the Yelp community has ever heard of this place. It's not downtown;not in Fountain Square or Broad Ripple. It's in an area some people might seem "unsavory";it's at the corner of 25th and Oxford.People complain about lack of local eating places, with local character'They seem to crave "New York food,Chicago food or ethnic food of various sorts".Well this is Indy, and there are several joints that can satisfy that little itch in your belly.Taste Budds offers scratch cooked home cooking.Fried chicken, smothered pork chops and a lemon herb roasted airline chicken breast with a golden crust and succulent flesh plus a lot more than I can mention now.Check out their website. If you are truly excited about real cooking;not just "food assembly "then give them a shot. The prices are more than fair and the portions are generous. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is due to the fact I haven't tried their liver and onions yet.But what I have tried, including the sides, are all spot on.

Unbelievable taste and well cooked soul food. Hidden gem in Martindale-Brightwood. I had the herbed baked chicken w/ mac & cheese and sweet potato. My friend had catfish, okra and Mac and cheese. We both couldn't stop raving over the flavor and how great it was. Staff is attentive & sweet. I'm telling everyone about it!
