Beer is delicious. A place in Greenwood I wouldn't mind spending an extra hour at... where-o-where would that be...? Shallo's, no doubt. The entire place is smoke-free, which makes it mighty child friendly. Chalk another one up for a host wanting to seat us in the middle of the room. This neurotic wallflower needs his back to the wall, and nowhere near a ledge. They need some ragtime jazz going over the speakers... it's just too stale. Oh, what's that? Is that stale dried beer all over our beer menu? A beer menu that is nowhere near up to date, which creates a byzantine of a beer order session. I was going to give this visit 3 stars until I remembered the waitress brought 4 beer tasters without asking because they were out of everything we inquired about. So, 4 stars. Dogfish Head 60 on draft, a mighty clean tap, in a mighty sexy glass. The homemade chips are worth the $1.75 upgrade... however they were a bit greasy this go 'round. A house salad that is a house salad... at least a hearty size. The swamp chicken sandwich was experiencing shrinkage on this visit. It's smaller. Much smaller than 2 years ago. Not as much flavor either really. My partner & I just sort of peered deep into that menu to try to find an appetizer item that wasn't deep fried; no luck... Wants were different than realities there... The truth... every visit where I've sat at the bar I've loved; and, every visit not at the bar (upstairs or bar table) I've been pretty tepid about. Having said that... again, beer is delicious.

Shallo's is another southside eatery that screams of uniqueness for Indy. Over FIVE HUNDRED beers in stock?!?! The best onion rings in town? Swamp chicken nachos? The reason you don't know about this place is that it's inside the same dumpy building as Olde Time Pottery (formerly Target), and you'd ignore it a million times before giving it a try. In all honesty, they can demolish everything attached to Shallo's and give it a proper facade and it would be here 100 years from now it's that good. This humble hole is a keeper. Send me the bill if you disagree.

This review is for the beer only. We were recently in search of some Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale from Lexington Brewing Company on draft and we heard Shallos had it. Sure enough, they did, and it was great. I only gave four stars instead of five because of the price. Now, I'm a big fan of craft beer and I know it's not cheap, but in comparison to similar places, they seem to be just a tad high. Shallos has some really cool old signage and other antiques so don't forget to take a look around. You can watch TV at any old bar.
(4)Randy P.
Good food and great selection of beer. It's a nice place to get together and hang out. Don't go while it's busy tho...the service is mediocre.
(4)Chyna M.
If you want quality beer on the southside, go here! With over 500 beers in stock, you can't go wrong. This is another oddly located southside restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. Once you get inside though, the atmosphere is pretty awesome. They have nightly drink specials and a decent menu. My boyfriend and I got their homemade chips and dip...they were AWESOME! Then we split an order of chicken and shrimp fajitas. They were really good also and we had plenty of leftovers to take home.
(4)Dave A.
We really enjoyed our meal at Shallos this afternoon. There was a huge beer selection. The chips and ranch were awesome! The quesadilla burger was awesome and cooked exactly the way I ordered it. My boyfriend always gets the Shallo Burger, he's quite passionate about it. We had GREAT SERVICE and food, and I even asked her to pass along our compliments to the chef, which I've never done.
(5)Daniel B.
Great place to have dinner with friends and a few beers , great beer selection so many to pick from. Service and food was great looking forward to my visit .
(4)Stan S.
Great beer selections, very good food.

I don't know how many lists I've started over the last 10 years in an attempt to get my name on the wall, but I've lost every one. Shallo's has one of the largest beer selections in the midwest, and that's totally boss. The beer menu is vast and inspiring. If you like beer, you'll like Shallo's. If you like beer and don't like Shallo's, you're probably a twerp. I remember the first time I went there, my friend Justin said 'try the cheeseburger! it's better than it has any right to be!'. And it IS! It is unexplainably good. Also of note are the chicken nachos. Instead of a heap of chips covered in toppings, each chip is lovingly dressed so that each corny triangle is perfectly loaded and flavor packed. I will say that though the beer selection is awesome-sauce, the drinks at the bar are pretty weak-sauce.

This place has a great beer selection. I recommend sitting at the bar and getting to know Doug so you'll always know what's on tap! They usually have great specials on some of the seasonal beers and have many hard to find options. The prices can get a little crazy but don't feel weird asking your server how much a brew will cost - they don't have a problem letting you know if that pint is going to be upwards of $8 for some of the crazier limited edition beers they get in! I recommend sticking to anything with swamp sauce or the buffalo wings. The food is fried and traditional bar food but at least the place is non-smoking and you know what you're going to get when you order it!
(4)Alyssa T.
Shallos was SO much fun and such a great place to have a few brews and relax with friends. They have over 500 varieties from all over the world, and I didn't think the price was too bad in comparison to other places either! Our waitress was great as well. With so many choices, we had no clue where to begin so we each told her a couple beers we liked and she would recommend something similar we hadn't had before. She never failed us!! I will for sure be back :)
(5)Thu N.
My fiance and I come here often but we have very mixed reviews. He comes for the beer and because of their HUGE selection to choose from - many of which you can not find on draft or even in a bottle anywhere else, he loves it! His favorite are the Hacker Pschorr, New Belgium Trippel, and especially the Duvel. They are available at the liquor store for about 1/3 of the price but you get the atmosphere here. Always games you can watch on their multiple tvs. My tip is if there is a wait, to eat in the bar so you don't have to be on the waiting list. put your name in anyways though just in case. This place is always busy when we come. The onion rings are delicious! Their breaded pork tenderloin looks good too but i've never tried it. The homemade chips and dip are good too. The steak, not so much. Unless you are really craving it stick to the bar food. The atmosphere is pretty interesting with draft heads all over the place, antiques and an upstairs eating area that you can look down into the bar. My favorite part of this place is that it is connected to Old Time Pottery so if I come here I get to go there... Most beer loving guys I know love this place. Their girlfriends never complain for the same reason - to get to go to the OTP. not a bad compromise because we can leave our loved ones at the restaurant and they don't complain how long we stay in the OTP :)

Brew-ha-ha. Brewhouses are my second favorite thing on Earth, micro breweries being the first. And as a brewhouse, shallo's is at the top of the key. They've got about 340 or so beers at any given time. Holy damn. Seriously, what else do you need? Sure, the food isn't the most fantastic stuff, but it's standard bar food, and it does a good job of that. I had a club and it was a club, the mozzarella sticks were pretty decent too! Now, onto the important stuff, the brew. For the second time, Holy Damn. On my first I stuck to Indiana beers, specifically two fine beverages from Flat12 Bierworks, which is located in downtown Indy (it's on my list, can't wait to go!). The 'glazed ham porter' was fantastic. But that's neither here nor there in regards to shallo's. I'm excessively excited that there's a place so near to me with such an awesome selection of quality and diverse brew!!!! The decor holds to the 'Antique' portion of the description. It's comprised mostly of wood and neon, which appeals to my rather tacky, yet crude tastes. The bar is the classic old wood look. Very enjoyable. Service has been so-so both times I've been here. I think Shallo's would really benefit from a reboot service side of things. Not firings of course, but maybe some more focus on that. Definitely recommended to any serious beer fans on the Southside, or those dedicated enough to make the drive.
(4)Brandy F.
Yes, it is located in a strip mall, but so what the selection is phenomenal. I don't care for their food, or even sitting anywhere in the restaurant for that matter, but the beer selection is fantastic, and the reason for the 4 stars. I was in search for a place that had Lexington Brewing Bourbon Barrel Ale on draft, and sure enough, they had it. This is the place I like to visit when I want to splurge on something a little different, which you definitely pay a premium for, so I typically just have one or two when I stop by.
(4)Andrew S.
Great atmosphere. Great food. I highly recommend the swamp tenderloin, but especially their wings. Great stuff. Their wings are huge first of all. Not those small puny wing bones with a little meat on them. No, I mean they give you wings. The whole thing. And they are great. They are smothered in amazing sauce, I recommend the hot not mild, and you feel like a carnivore when eating them. They are so good. Their swamp tenderloin and swamp burger are delicious as well. A Caribbean jerk tasty sauce makes everything better. You can't forget their homemade chips. Those are also very tasty. If beer is your thing, then Shallos is the place to go. They have so many different types of beer they have it stored all around the restaurant. Pretty great establishment through and through. It really livens up when there are big games on TV, too. The place is full of antiques from around Indy. Probably one of my favorite restaurants for sure.
(5)Scott B.
Excellent food. Especially the swamp chicken nachos. A must have on every visit! Great beer selection too. My only complaint is that it needs a good dusting and cleaning in the dining room. Very cool tap handles mounted on the walls...hundreds of them from years gone by.
(4)Chris B.
In town visiting friends and family and needed a good beer bar to visit while in town. My brother reccomended this place. When we first pulled up to this place, nearly hidden in a half empty strip mall, I was a bit unsure whether this was a hidden gem or just a hole in the wall. The atmoshpere was quite warm and inviting. Lots of dark wood with empty beer bottles and tap handles lining the walls. We sat at the bar, so the service seemed pretty good. We never found ourselves with an empty glass without being asked if we were ready for another round. The bartender seemed fairly knowlegable about the 40 or so beers they had on tap. The only downside was that the bartender seemed to struggle with a good pour, I think as much beer was overflow as made it into our glasses. The selection is terrific. Like I mentioned before there are around 40 beers on tap, and many times more than that in bottles. The prices seemed to be on par with most other places, and they had several beers on "special" for around $3.50 a pint. Overall a good place, I will probably visit again when I am in Indy next.
(4)Jessica K.
GREAT beer selection. One of the best places in Indy to find that beer you are craving. Or even finding a new beer that you didn't know you would love. The food was typical bar food but was quality. The tenderloin was very tasty.
(4)Libbie V.
Oh, Shallos. How I dearly love your ever changing beer selection. But, how I dearly wish you would update your food menu. I am a great fan of the homemade chips and the hot wings................but I'm ready for a change.
(4)Carl P.
DO NOT GO HERE FOR THE FOOD!!!!! Shallo's has your typical deep-fried bar food. Their home-made chips are great, but that's about it. GO HERE FOR THE BEER!!! You want variety? They have it! The boast over 500 different beers throughout the year. Included in that is domestic junk, but you still can get just about anything you can dream of here. It's a very crowded, cramped place and can get very loud during the weekends. The service is often slow, but that's what you get when you go to a bar to eat. This is not a good family restaurant, nor a good place to take a date (unless you and that date just want to get plastered). It is also very pricey. However, anyplace that has Arrogant Bastard on tap will get my approval.
(3)Ryan M.
Super beer selection. That's the reason I love Shallos the most, they have dozens upon dozens upon dozens of beers from various countries as well as various domestic microbrews. Always something new to try!!!
(5)Beth W.
I just moved to the Indy area a few months ago, and I was looking around online for bars/restaurants. I saw Shallos and thought WOW 500 different kinds of beer! I'm a beer connoisseur! It was everything I was wanting it to be! A little on the pricey side, but I can deal with that! Haven't had the food there yet, but It looks good!
(5)Steve S.
Coolest bar in the Greenwood area and possibly all of Indianapolis. They do have great food, great service and all the beer you could ever want to try out. 500 beers I believe... Try it out! Chicken nachos are unbelievable.
(5)Danielle B.
Don't let the "strip mall" exterior fool you...you'll walk in and feel like you have entered an English pub. Great decor -- tons of Indianapolis' memorabilia that is fun to check out. The beer selection is unmatched at any other Indy bar. And the food is great -- but it's the homemade chips that are the most addictive (and totally healthy, I'm sure!). Great place - a hidden treasure.
(4)Randy B.
My go-to when i want to hang out. Amazing beer selection. My love of dark beer started here. They also keep Bourbon Barrel Ale on tap. Great steak and home-made chips, but some of the other food wasn't great.
(5)Ralph S.
Shallo's, I am disappoint. Seriously, the suckiest waitress I've had in years. She didn't know the menu or beer list, it took her 30 minutes to realize I was out of beer. She got angry when some of us switched seats and told us not to do it anymore because the computer couldn't keep track of our bill. Just awful, they're lucky they've got an awesome beer selection. Seriously, hundreds of beers to choose from. Though, the beer menu is a cheap xerox missing the first few letters off the names of all the beers on the left side. If you have questions about the beer don't waste your time asking the wait staff, with a few exceptions they generally don't know anything about the beers they carry. I would also say that the food is pretty sub standard, unless you're a deep fried aficionado. The chips aren't bad, but everything else is mediocre at best.
(2)MJ W.
I went to this place all the time back when I lived on the South Side. Yes I lived on the South Side. That is where I'm from. I used to work walking distance from this place. They have so so so many beers to choose from. The food is not bad either.
(5)Devin S.
Great, great, great beer list. If you're looking for a place that has a list with a lot of beers on it, this place has that list. With beers on it. Solid wings and try the chips.
(4)Jon L.
The selection of beers is pretty good, but the price is a bit high. I think one pint was $7. The food is mostly pub-style and its pretty tasty. The server was great for my table, but had some entree mixups with every table around us. Overall, the whole experience was a little meh. I don't regret going, but probably won't return for some time.
(3)Jeff R.
Best selection of beers (draft and bottle) that I've found in Indianapolis. Food is Midwestern bar food and is very good an much of it is homemade. Homemade potato chips as a appetizer is a must (send them back if they aren't warm), burgers are good, breaded tenderloin is excellent, and the steaks are very good cuts.
(5)Justin C.
Great portions great food...this place has been around a long time mainly because of it's great people
(5)allison s.
I am over the food... Go for the beer & enough room to lounge with friends and actually hear the conversations!
(4)Schtef T.
Was back home again in Indiana for a few days and talked my beer drinking boys into going to Shallos. I really love this place. It took me nearly 10 minutes to decide which beer to try. So many fantastic options! I went with an Imperial Porter and it was fantastic. One of the boys had an Imperial Stout and he was just as pleased with his choice. I'm already looking forward to my next pilgrimage to this midwestern beer mecca.
(4)Monty D.
My wife and I stopped in on a Sunday evening for dinner and drinks and were not disappointed. The character of the bar is very warm and inviting. The beer selection is top notch. Lots of micro brews and beers from all over the world. We ordered the chicken wings for an appetizer and we ordered the hot brown sandwich with the homemade chips. All of the items we chose were delishious! The staff was very friendly, we will be back for sure. Great job Shallos!
(5)Carey D.
I went to Shallos with my boyfriend, who loves their beer selection, because I could only talk him into going to next-door Old Time Pottery if we went here too. A good compromise, one would hope. Unfortunately, we didn't have such a good experience here. Yes, they do have a great beer selection - over 300 bottled beers and 40 draft beers. The downside is that the menu simply lists all the beers and the only categorization offered is by country. So, if you are not an expert in beers or haven't done your research before going, you might not know what to order. The menu should include descriptions of the beers, or at the very least, the servers should be experts and know what to recommend. We wanted to try new and different beers, but weren't that happy with what we chose because of the lack of guidance. If you know what kind of beers you want to try before you go, then Shallos is a good choice. Do your research - the website lists them. The food was not good at all. Unlike the beer list, the dinner menu didn't have much to choose from. I decided to order the Filet Mignon, but should have known better based on the price ($14?!). It was bland and overcooked. I drowned it in A-1 sauce to try to salvage it, but that didn't help either. My boyfriend had a burger, which he thought was ok. Our service wasn't too great either. I will not be going back here.
(2)Tom M.
Best import beer selection in all of greater Indy area. Friendly atmosphere. Whenever I'm in greenwood I try and make it in
(4)Kevin Y.
Shallos has the best selection of beers in Indy (that I know of.) The waiters and bartenders can often offer recommendations on beer. The whole building is smoke-free, which is a plus for many of us. I see a lot of negative reviews about the food, but I don't think it's too bad, although I'm comparing it to bars as opposed to restaurants. I have gotten tenderloins and appetizers, and I think they are better than other bars I have been to. I also like the steamed veggies... it's a unique offering for a bar.
(5)Stacy Q.
I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by this establishment! Their homemade chips and dip are a must-try! Everything was very good from the appetizers to the drinks and en trees. Service was great. The restaurant was busy but not too noisy that you couldn't hold a conversation. We had a great time!
(5)Shawn P.
Shallo's Antique Restaurant is a familiar place. The kind of place where you expect to see some old white-haired guy walk in and have the entire bar area shout "NORM!" upon his arrival. It's selection of beers is the best in Indy, with brews from practically every Nation in the world. What makes Shallo's the best tavern in Indy is it's burgers. The swamp burger is so good, you'll totally phase out the guy sitting next to you bitching about his wife lillith or the hayseed behind the bar talking in myopic terms about the most trivial things.
(5)Amie L.
This place has been around forever. I used to go here as a kid. I've just kind of forgotten about it. I mean without the "Airway" to draw me, it's not the most appealing location. If you don't know what that means, you are too young :) The homemade chips are really tasty. The "sauce" is just ranch, but I thoroughly enjoyed devouring them. I had a jerk style burger (Swamp Burger). It was pretty good. Cooked perfectly, nice and juicy. Our service was on point. I will definitely go here more often now that my memory has been refreshed. (Even without Airway)...
(4)DrGina B.
I chose this spot because of the yelps about the onion rings, and I wasn't disappointed! They were lightly breaded but still crisp making them the perfect side to the juicy, sweet and spicy Swamp Chicken (hint: I ordered the sandwich and ditched the bread for a lighter, less expensive portion)! The service is courteous and prompt; the ambiance and decor are comfortable and definitely pub-like. GREAT selection of ales. AND......(drumroll please!), the bathrooms are clean and had a waste receptacle by the door!
(5)Deb R.
Ever since I've lived in this area, Shallos has always been one of my favorite go to restaurants. The atmosphere is super cool and comfortable, the service always seems to be spot on, and finally, the food is very good as well. That would include how much you're paying versus how much food you're actually getting. One of the best signature meals they offer is the panko breaded pork tenderloin. Any one of the chicken sandwiches are very good as well. But I can't stress enough that they have the best onion rings I have ever had. I rave about them every time the subject of onion rings comes up. They are simply amazing.
(4)Amy V.
What a cool place!!! When we were pulling up to the Mapquest location, I had to do a double-take and make sure I was reading the sign right... An antique brewhouse in a strip mall? Yep! Thats right folks - and holy cow - once you step inside - you won't believe it! The walls are lined with antique decor and old bar taps. (Awesome!) And their beer list is INCREDIBLE! One of the best I have seen in the entire town of Indianapolis... actually... I take that back... Probably THE best. Period. They sort their beers by geography and have everything you can think of! If you go here and cannot find a beer you like, I think it is time you start looking into other beverages moving forward. Its hard for me to personally comment on the food - since I don't eat meat, and like many other brewhouses, there was not a ton of vegetarian options - but the pasta which I ended up ordering was decent. And everyone else at my table got swamp burgers, or swamp chicken and loved it! This place is incredible! Its a do not miss sort of place - and I am positive we will be visiting more often!
(5)Peter P.
This is a very interesting place. From the outside (if you can even find it), it doesn't look like much. It's in a strip mall next to Old Tyme Pottery. And the strip mall isn't even visible from the street. When you walk up, you wonder what you've gotten yourself into. It really looks like some dive bar that you wouldn't go into unless you knew someone. However, once you get past the exterior, you will find out you made the right choice. The whole place is like a museum of beer. You could spend an hour just walking around (there's an upstairs too) looking at all the vintage beer paraphernalia. Service is extremely friendly and they make sure you never see the bottom of your glass/bottle. And, boy do they have beer. They have your usual rotation selection of local breweries on draft as well as the macros. But the true stars here are the bottles. They have hundreds of obscure beers that would take you years of regular visits to sample them all. It sure would be fun to try... Food is no afterthought either. The French onion soup is one of the best in the city.
(4)Meghan G.
The food was amazing. We had the wings - and they were some of the best I've ever had. Completely impressed with the beer selection, too. Total surprise.
(5)Lauren A.
Beer selection and homemade chips and dip. 'Nuff said.
(5)K L.
I like Shallo's. Chicken nachos don't come in a pile. They are actually neatly, individually filled on each chip and loaded with shredded cheese. It was almost like shredded chicken bbq nachos. You must try the Pink Nipple beer mixed there. Grapefruit like....I loved it.
(4)Rebecca B.
A dive bar if I ever saw one! A local late night hangout is how I would describe Shallos. When I want to meet a few friends for drinks in Greenwood, this is where we come. A comprehensive beer list categorized by country of origin has my OCD/beer snob heart all a flutter. Ps. If you're looking for a classic, they make a mean snake bite (half Guinness, half cider.) I've tried a few of their entrees, and while nothing blew me away, I find the comfort/pub food to be just what I need on late night beer hangs with friends. Their fried pickles are great for snacking! The atmosphere is very laid back and the staff has always been attentive and on it when it comes to drink refills.
(4)Drew E.
Known for their vast beer menu and engaging leaderboard system, this place is a neighborhood icon. Their food is slightly above average for a bar menu, like homemade dressings and sauces. Their fish and chips are probably my favorite of anywhere I've ordered them from. As far as origin and freshness are though, I'm not sure. It is a bar after all. It has a unique atmosphere and definitely worth a trip, or multiple trips. The bartenders are smart and great at their craft. The place can get quite busy and packed on the weekend nights especially during sporting events.
(4)Linda H.
Neat atmosphere and friendly staff, but the food was bland. Both my kids got a cheeseburger, my husband got the hot brown, and I got the chicken nachos. Nothing tasted bad just really didn't have much taste, which is pretty hard to do when the nachos are loaded with cheese. Like they bought the Walmart brand cheese instead of a name brand.
(3)Laura M.
This place has been a fixture for me for as long as I've lived in Greenwood. The first time I was brought here I was pleasantly surprised. A beautiful restaurant full of history and dark wood situated in the middle of an Indiana strip mall? Apparently. The food here is good. Twice baked potatoes? Yuuuuuum. Steak tips are tender and flavorful. The wings truly are delicious. Their beer list hasn't been surpassed yet (that I know of). The service here has been going way downhill. They never have enough people staffing the bar, so you're kind of up a creek whether you're at a table or sitting at the bar. Wait times for drinks have been going up steadily until tonight, when there was one harried server fixing drinks for the entire (huge) restaurant. We sat for 40 minutes without so much as eye contact. With such good food and such a great beer list, I would hate to write Shallos off completely. I recommend going during off days and times, though, unless you have hours to wait. Either that, or hope for a new manager.
(3)Eric S.
Went here for my 21st birthday dinner. The atmosphere was great and had a very vintage feel to it. The waitstaff was decent for the size of the party we had. The beer selection was phenomenal. Shallos is known for having one of the largest craft beer selections and I love craft beer. The food was sub par. I got the taco nachos and my taste buds were not liking the nachos. The chicken was bland and so were the chips. I'm a huge fan of nachos and they did not live up to my expectations.
(2)Trena T.
Love love love this place. Did I mention I love it? Three pregnant Center Grove housewives somehow escaped their subdivisions and their incessant whining about errything nearly ruined our last visit, but alas...there's nothing the restaurant can do about that. I digress. This place is the bomb diggity. (What's up, 1992!) Indianapolis' original "beer bar." I just coined that term, and I don't actually know if it's true. But it is the first place I was introduced to with such a diverse and extensive beer list. They get new bottles and taps on the regular---they update on their Facebook page when something new comes in. They used to make beer "cocktails" by mixing a couple of different beers. I'm not sure if that still happens, but it's worth asking about. Their food is hearty and comforting. Standard soups, salads, sandwiches. I love the French onion soup, though it's a little brothier than most. Nobody can sell a side of steamed vegetables like they can, which come with ranch dressing and shredded cheese to ensure you have the option of negating any health benefits of said vegetables. They say their grilled tenderloin comes with Swiss cheese. What they fail to tell you is that it is actually a literal slab of Swiss cheese. Hey, I'm not complaining, but husband actually took it off of his sandwich. I don't know what kind of bacon they use on their sandwiches, but it's better than every other sandwich bacon in the area. It's thick enough to be substantial, but still crunchy. Oh, man. So good. Also, the servers are the nicest. The hostess on our last visit was annoyed by everyone who came in and interrupted her texting/Facebooking/Tweeting/Snapchatting sesh, but our actual servers have always been fantastic. Skedaddle on to the south side and give them a try.
(5)Anne P.
We absolutely loved Shallos! Everything was wonderful and very fair prices. My husband and I split tenderloin sandwich (wonderful) and I had the best French onion soup that I've ever had. My daughter got the "hot brown" and loved it as well. We had the swamp chicken nachos for an appetizer that was so good and very different much better than you'd expect. Oh and the beer selection is awesome, I'm a fan of Belgian beer and they had Lindemans! Our server was Stacey and we were impressed immediately, I would totally ask for her to wait on you! BTW sliced pepper jack cheese on beer battered tenderloin sandwiches is amazing, I suggest you carry it and offer it as a cheese :)

Shallows is one of the coolest restaurants I've been to. The food was tasty, the beer selection was top notch, The service was awesome and the atmosphere was unique. I had the fried pickle appetizer and the shallow burger. The pickles were long lives battered like fish and chips. They were fantastic dipped in the house ranch. The burger was well executed, Definitely satisfying, nothing life changing though. The place is basically just a museum for some really interesting antique artifacts. They are all over the restaurant and you can read about them on the menu. Their local and craft beer selection is pretty outstanding. Had some great brews that I had never seen before. I'm rarely in Indiana but next time I pass through I'll definitely be stopping in for some more food and drinks.

OH MAH GOD THE CHICKEN WINGS! I did not expect to walk into a place with an interior like Shallos tucked behind Greenwood Park Mall and located next door to Old Time Pottery. Going inside is quite an experience as you are greeted by dark woods and antique beer bottles and taps aligning the walls. You can spend some time just looking around, which is nice. My group was seated upstairs and we were on a strict time limit. We had to be in and out, with dinner, in about 45 minutes. Not a problem. While the main floor was pretty busy, there were only three full tables upstairs and our waitress was extremely accommodating. The beer selection is impressive, which is a major plus when you're dating the person who runs the IndyBeer Meetup. The special on the sandwich board read "Bison Burger!", ordered by both my boyfriend and friend. And I definitely liked that you can order your burger cooked to your liking; we're all rare meat-eaters and so many non-burger establishments don't give you an option outside of medium. I opted for the chicken wings - apparently voted Indy's Best by Indianapolis Monthly. The food came out fast and my giant platter of chicken wings for $9.99 was insane. These aren't standard chicken wings. These are the WHOLE wing. Basically for $9.99, you get ~10 massive chicken wings. So you're getting twice the wings for half the price of Wings Etc, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc. And they were awesome! Fried but not breaded, and the blue cheese dressing was chunky and delicious. The wing sauce was sweeter than I expected it to be, but it didn't stop me from chowing down. Oh. AND DID I MENTION THE CHICKEN WINGS? The burgers also came out cooked to perfection, with a side of chips. Shallos makes a great and juicy medium-rare burger (mmmm, pink!). Our waitress gave us our bill right after our food came out, as she remembered we were in a hurry. And even after paying, she continued to check up on us. I will definitely be back the next time I'm on the south side and have a hankering for some wings or a tasty burger!

Absolutely amazing Burgers!! Tasted like They ground the steaks at the back of the restaurant grilled them up and serve them up!! Since my wife got full on kettle chips and fried pickles, I got to see about the swamp burger and the Shallos burger! Our server was amazing very thoughtful and on top of his game!! He had the orders for the kids in place and out to the table in no time flat!! Recommend to split and share a few burgers!! Definitely have to try the fried pickles!!

Love this place .
(5)Brian M.
One of our go-to spots for dinner. Great beer list, prompt and friendly service. Their tenderloins are DELICIOUS. The homemade chips are great. The "Hot Brown" sandwich might be one of my all-time favorite sandwiches.
(5)PablosPanda Z.
Great find for craft on the south side. First off, the owner is from Green Bay and they have nearly every Wisconsin beer you can imagine from Hinterland to Horney Goat, so you know it'll be good. The bartenders are personable and knowledgable about the beer selection. Panda liked that they were very accommodating when it came to addressing dietary restrictions. Overall, cool place to go for a beer and will definitely be back to watch a Packer game.
(5)Tom C.
The wifey and I can't get enough of this place. Excellent food, friendly and knowledgeable bartenders (we recommend you sit at the bar, great atmosphere, and over 500 beers keep us coming back. Do not sleep on Shallos!
(5)Amber E.
This is a really great place for the beer lover. The food is pretty good. Good bar food at least. I like how dim the lights are and sitting on the second floor. Good place when you're in the mood to have a chill dinner and a beer.
(4)Rachel W.
Seriously? I can't believe some of these glowing recommendations. Have you dined anywhere else in your life? This restaurant was (and likely still is) downright dirty. Sticky tables, crap on the floors, messy bathrooms and more. Sadly, the upkeep of the establishment (lack thereof) is also a representation of their less than mediocre food. I was encouraged by a couple of the people we were with to try the 'swamp nachos.' Eh. They were edible. Hubs had something basic (chicken tenders) and he didn't even finish them. Mozzarella sticks were the best, but how to you screw up deep fried cheese, I suppose anything is possible. FYI: I am a vegetarian and Shalloh's offers very little for people like myself. They could at least invest in vegetarian refried beans. There are two saving graces to my 3/5 star review. The exceptionally large beer selection. BUT hubs and I were here on NYE with 8 other people and a lot of the beers our group wanted were sold out. One poor guy asked for 4 different beers before he finally just asked our waitress, "well, what do you have?" Our waitress brought him a 'Leg Humper' and it seemed to satisfy him. Waitress was great. You could tell she was a well seasoned staff person equipped to handle large groups and lots of questions. Overall atmosphere wasn't bad and the decor was right on with the vibe of the place. Even family friendly-if you're so inclined.
(3)Allison F.
You can't provide 500 beers and not expect anything less than a five-star rating for the largest selection in town.
(5)Reynaldo A.
Beer options are incredible love the international variety available Fajitas duo are great and huge good for sharing
(4)Lisa R.
By far our favorite place on the south side of Indy. Hidden treasure for sure! Enjoy the old pub feel (cheers style!) with an incredible selection of draft and bottled brew for every taste, mood, price range, you name it! So many choices, and always spot on! Can't decide? Ask for a sample!! Seriously! A free sample!! Food is fantastic as well. Have a Reuben with fresh kraut, house style chips, twice baked loaded potato with ham, cheese, bacon, and sour cream or have the very best wings you will find in Indy!! There may be a wait, but it is well worth it! servers are always friendly, helpful and will remember you when you return! And parents, bring the munchkins too!!
(5)Nathan M.
This place is pretty incredible. The staff makes you feel like family. Proud owner of a beer plaque. And a regular at the bar. The food is always on point. Try the fajitas! The only bar around with this kind of atmosphere. Will be coming back for years to come
(5)Amanda B.
The food is decent, but I've been there several times, mostly for group dinners, and have never once gotten decent service. I was there once with 10 people, and the food came out in crazy shifts. 6 people got their food, then 10 minutes later 3 more people got theirs, and 1 was still waiting. Completely unacceptable. Maybe they just can't handle big tables.... like I said the food is decent, and they have an almost overwhelming selection of beer, so it's worth a shot.
(3)Les S.
I'm new to the area, but love this little pub. Great food and an amazing beer list. With the combination of these two I can't believe how slow it is. A hidden gem that more people need to find.
(4)Erin C.
Not only is the atmosphere kickass, the beer selection is KILLER! Literally, they have the widest selection of specialty beers I've seen in Indiana. They've got loads of craft beers from Hoosier breweries, favorites from across America, and plenty from all over the globe. You'll always find something new and exciting. The atmosphere is cozy and intriguing and you'll find yourself checking out all the neat nick-knacks, prints, and taps whether you're on the first or second floor. It's warm and kitschy, and you won't want to leave. The service s always stellar and they are super accommodating. I have a mother who is a very picky vegan and even though there was nothing on the menu that was vegan (save the salad) our waiter offered to come up with a pasta that would be vegan and went down to the kitchen and made it himself! He used oil instead of butter, wheat pasta, fresh veggies, clean, un-meatified cooking utensils and everything. He went above and beyond. It was amazing. I wish I could remember his name. So basically, Shallos is amazing. Whether you're coming for drinks or diner (or both) you won't be disappointed.
(5)Greg K.
One of my favorite beer bars and I like the bar food! I usually order swamp chicken or tenderloin. But I love the beer options!
(5)Shanda E.
Michael and I shared a Tenderloin and the homemade potato chips and dip. Delish! And enough for two:)
(5)Brett H.
Excellent selection of beer. Good is reasonable and the staff are kind and personable. Worth a visit if you're looking for some good craft brews in the area.
(3)William W.
Awesome beer selection!!!!! Amazing home potato chips WHOLE chicken wings Great fish n chips Never had anything here I didn't like.
(5)Mayra D.
Ate the duo fajitas which we really enjoyed. The serve at the bar is always friendly. The choice of beers is awesome. Had Kasteel Rouge which is a very nice Belgian beer, this is the only place I've seen that has it.
(4)Darcy B.
Service is really great, with servers who are very knowledgeable about the beer selection! We ordered an appetizer of their homemade potato chips with ranch dip. It's pricier than most appetizers, but definitely worth it! The plate was piled at least 6 inches high and the chips were amazing! Thinly sliced and deep fried, they're the perfect combination of crispy and crunchy!
(5)Jolanda B.
A fun, affordable bar on the southside of Indy. Love it!
(5)Kathryn H.
Stopped in to Shallos for a late lunch. The location is a bit strange, but we were glad we went. The inside of the restaurant is very unique with the tin ceiling, lots of dark wood and cabinetry, and of course the antiques. The server was very friendly and the food arrived quickly. I ordered a simple soup and salad which was nothing fancy, but the price was great! My mother got a chicken salad sandwich which she said was excellent. The beer menu looked rather lengthy and judging from the plaques on the wall and bottle displays, I'd say this would be a great place to hang out for some beer and bar eats. I was happy to find this place as it was a nice change from the typical chain.
(3)Joseph C.
Stood at the receptions desk for over 15 min waiting to be seated, we was the only ones waiting and empty tables all around. As we was being seated our table it wasnt cleanwd so we had to stand next to someone elses table while they was eating while ours was being wiped off. Then after getting seated it was a longer wait before the waiter took our drink order then just walked away without asking for the food order, after he came back to take the food order he had a major attitude prob, the food was great I would give it 4 stars but the service always ruins the meal it will be a very! Long time before I come back
(1)Kasey L.
I go to Shallos for one thing: the hot brown. I feel like it is the only place in Indianapolis to get one, and they definitely do it right. As I told my fiance tonight, God could not have created a more perfect dish for me...cheese, bacon, and turkey all slathered together? Yes please. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but even I'm impressed at their amazing selection. I'm not sure there's anywhere else in town that compares. I've always found the service to be just fine. Tonight it was exceptional--a waiter named Josh was very tuned in to how starving I was, and I appreciated it :)
(4)Scott P.
A wonderful place to enjoy what is a massive beer selection. I've nibbled a handful of food items, all of which were pretty good. My only complaint(s) is that a friend of mine booked "the room" two years in a row for his birthday for a good size party. Both times we had a substantial wait after our scheduled arrival time, once to sit in a hastily prepared set of tables pushed together in a few sections; once to have a decent table layout. Neither time were we given the group area / section which was specified and reserved. Perfect place to go with a few friends, but schedule a large group gathering with cautious optimism at best. I still go back from time to time, its not that deep:)
(3)Will W.
Best french onion soup in the Indy area, hands down. Also try the chips and dip--it's all homemade and is a HUGE appetizer. Seriously, a half order can feed a family of 4 easily. I love this place, but I can't, in good conscience, give it a 5 simply by virtue of the fact that every time we come we have to deal with the same girl seating us. Unless she's been fired since we were last there, the hostess is one of the most unpleasant people I've ever met. She doesn't speak, barely takes the time to look up from her phone (or the floor if her phone isn't out) and practically threw a fit when I asked incredibly politely (I try not to antagonize people that prepare my food) if we could sit within view of the big TV upstairs since the NCAA tournament was going on. Honestly, it was one table over and the top wasn't even half full with people. Regardless, the food is fantastic and the REST of the staff is too awesome to bring the score down any further.
(4)Anna S.
I love this place! Great food and largest election of beer ever. I recommend the chicken swamp nachos, they even have a selection of gluten free beers:)
(5)Joe S.
Best beer selection on the south side. The staff is very knowledgable about their selection too. They also have Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, which I've never seen outside of Kentucky. Great beer if you like bourbon too, but that's a different review. Their potato chips, which are made in-house, are really good. The rest of the menu is just OK, which is why I couldn't give them more than 3 stars.
(3)Cory S.
We can here for the first time last weekend.. It wasn't quiet what I expected looking at some of the photos. I expected it to be a bit cooler.. but it's literally beside a old tyme pottery or whatever in a strip mall. Not necessarily bad.. just different. THe insdie does have some character as it's 2 stories and you don't see that very often in a strip mall atmosphere. They have a huge selection of beers... on tap and in bottle. I must have taken 10 minutes to pick what I wanted. I was impressed.. however the server seemed less than impressed on my indecision. Oh well. Ended up getting an upside blonde for the first one and who knows for the second one. The food... again, not what I expected. I'm sure its good for some people it just didn't hit the spot for me. I got some of the swamp nachos. I was expected a huge mess of nachos to come out.. but its actually individual nachos that are topped individually. Some people like this (my wife), but i much rather have a huge pile. Mother in law had a pork tenderloin.. It looked very good.. but as she cut it in half it was definitely pink. She pointed it out to the server and she took it to the cook and manager.. They said it was the PH in the pork and fine to eat. I'm no chef.. but my mother in law is a damn good cook. It definitely shouldn't have been as pink as it was. She ended up snacking on the homemade chips and our nachos. They did take it off the bill.. but in our opinions it probably wasn't safe to eat Not sure we will come back.
(3)Robert L.
Brought the kids Sunday afternoon and I was surprised that I never have brought them here before. Taylor our waitress was attentive and cute. Could have been more personal, but she was busy. Good breaded tenderloin as I remember. My son ordered a Caesar salad and liked all but the onions. The kids enjoyed the restaurant. Said it was "epic". Haven't been here in years and not sure as to why. Great beer selection.
(4)michael g.
Left Hand Milk Stout, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, New Holland Dragons Milk, and the Ommegang Game of Thrones Fire and Blood Red Ale are just a few of the ones we tried tonight. The food was great and the company was awesome. Happy 30th Tyler!
(5)DeAnna P.
I am adding a 1/2 star because even though I couldn't drink when I was there, I can appreciate their huge beer selection. I was disappointed with the food though. The last time I was here, I remember the house made potato chips as stellar. This time they were cold and way too greasy. The breaded tenderloin this time had NO seasoning except possibly rosemary? Yeah, I think it was rosemary. Whatever it was, it was not a seasoning that belonged on a tenderloin. It made it taste pretty yucky, even after I doused it with salt (since it seemed like absolutely none was on there to start with). Service was good and other people's food looked good. I will have to go back and try again, maybe with the burger this time.
(3)Jenny F.
Pretty interesting decor in here! Lots of antiques and interesting things to look at. We had the fried pickle appetizer. I love fried pickles and I was not disappointed! These were not pickle chips or spears. These were like pickle slabs! The breeding was light and crispy! They were Delish! We also had the breaded tenderloin. Man, was that thing huge!!! My mom and I should have shared. It too was quite tasty! We will be back again! Oh, and they have an amazing selection of beers! Lol
(4)Jason O.
Stopped here with the work lunch crew to give it a try. The beer selection was excellent although there were different versions of the beer list running around and we were dissapointed when many of the beers we asked for were no longer in stock. Definitely heavy and standard bar type food which is awesome if you are looking for that. They did great on the fried pickles, fried chips and the Fish and chips, they have the breading thing down. If you are looking for something lighter the salads seem to be on the small and disappointing side, clearly an afterthought and few choices in-between. The most disappointing part was the service. Our waitress couldn't answer questions about the beers and the food was really slow to come out even though the place was empty. Worth giving another shot sometime but the first impression was Meh...
(2)Robert K.
The best place on the southside to get craft beer. The menus has a lot of great gems; get the wings!
(5)Telissa C.
If I were rating Shallo's on beer and beer only they would get 5 stars from me. I love the constant rotation of beer and the fact that they make good effort to get rare beers in as well. Staff is always knowledgable about their beers and always willing to help you find one or two that will suit your taste. Now onto the food. Well sorry but the food is a huge let down. I think they really need to update the menu. If you are a vegetarian you have almost no options. If you are a foodie this food is not for you either. For instance the "apple" glazed pork chops were pork chops smothered in canned apple pie filling. Huge failure there. The swamp burger is always good. The steak is hit or miss as far as being well seasoned and cooked correctly.(the way you order) The house made chips are great. All I can say is I go for the beer. If I get hungry I rely on the house made chips.
(3)Heather H.
Oh Christmas Beer Oh Christmas Beer Oh how I love you, Christmas Beer! Though we started out with a couple of draft selections (mmm, Youngs Double Chocolate Stout...), we ended up working our way through four different bottles of Christmas/Winter beer, and could have tried four or five more options had we stayed longer and/or had a DD to get us back to our house. That, combined with a basket of the homemade chips and dip and excellent service from the bartender, made for an excellent impromptu night out in Greenwood!
(4)Kate D.
This is just regarding their beer, did not eat although would return for those yummy looking pub chips. As a Colorado beer snob I was very impressed with their beer selection. For a chain restaurant part of town, this place is a beer lovers heaven. Not a huge, but at least 20 taps with diverse pours from various places. And the bottle list has great stuff including seasonally available brews. Only thing that got it 4 stars was the bar staff. Kind of waited to be helped, but it was a Friday night... Would probably become better in my opinion the more I go there, and I plan to.
(4)Tabitha B.
Great beer selection, great food & great service! Doug the bartender is the best.!Friendly cozy vibe.
(5)Christopher K.
I wanted to rank this establishment higher, but I didn't because of the prices for some of the brews. I met a friend here and we sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and did a nice job. Some of the brews I ordered were pricey compared to other bars who have the same or similar choices. For example, I ordered a 12 ounce bottle of my favorite stout...Samuel Smith's Chocolate...and it was $7! Overall, it is a good place to try if you want brews that are difficult to get or if you just want a variety of options.
(3)Lawrence S.
The beer menu is expansive even for the most savvy drinker. As far as pub food goes it is some of the best I have had anywhere. I would especially recommend anything that comes with the swamp sauce! They are known for their homemade chips that when hot are excellent, but do come to the table cold from time to time. Overall a great place to relax and have a beer with friends.
(4)Kevin G.
Wide selection of good beer and great food. Service was awesome as well because they didn't keep bothering you while deciding on ordering or bother you when eating. I'm definitely coming back and will more than likely make this my new spot!
(4)Scotty Z.
I used to really like Shallos, but it really is just kinda so-so. They do have a WONDERFUL beer selection, but it kinda stops there. I've had OK food...not awful, but never great. And, they charge you $4 to sub veggies as a side for a sandwich/burger. Really?? Also, the last time I was in I had to sit right next to the door...the drafty door with a lobby full of screaming kids. I'll pass next time.
(2)Chip M.
THe best long islands hands down. They have wonderful homemade potato chips with ranch dip. the breaded tenderloin is awesome... and did I mention the best long island I've ever had. they have been doing it right for decades! I started coming way back in the 1980's and it's still has the same GREAT drinks countless beers and god food! thank you!
(4)Scot C.
Great Atmosphere! I came here recently with a group of friends for dinner.. Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed with long selection of GREAT beer. They offer draught and bottles of worldly variety; in the end I went with the Altech Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale and what a fine choice it was! The food was quite tasty and well suited; think of glorified pub fare. We sampled the house chips which were fantastic. For a main, I went with the BBQ Pork Chops and was very happy with it. We were seated upstairs, which seemed sort of cramped, but enjoyable non-the less. And this place is non-somking - a huge plus! I would like to come back down with some aficionados and hang at the bar sipping on great beer. If only there was a location in Broad Ripple...but seriously. I think I'll find myself here again when heading to the South-Side.
(4)Gregg M.
A group of my friends in town for the holidays joined the gf and me at Shallos for an after dinner drink. I was very happy to see that Shallos was still open and at the same location after all of these years and a piss poor economy. Many evenings during my college years were spent enjoying beers at Shallos which, in my mind, was the foremost place for beer, bottled or on tap, on the Southside if not all of Indy. Thankfully, not much has changed at Shallos except that it has kept up with the times and has kept up with the proliferation of craft beers from America's best microbrewers to include some of the Hoosier States' finest. Their selection of domestic, imports, and microbrews that can be had by the bottle or draft numbers in the hundreds! Supporting a local (sort of) brewer, I started off with a draft pint of Three Floyds Brewing's Alpha King Pale Ale from Munster, IN. Not to sound like a "homer", but the amber brew knocked it out of the park offering a citrusy nose and a pleasing, crisp hoppiness as it was consumed. Alpha King was definitely a winner! My second selection was a pint of Tyranena Bitter Woman IPA from Wisconsin. I'm a big fan of IPAs, but the Bitter Woman was surprisingly bland, lacking the intense hoppiness usually found in that type of beer, and was a disappointment. Both pints of beer were extremely reasonable in price around $5. In the end, the evening was a fun trip down beer memory lane. Shallos isn't a cocktail joint. It isn't a fine dining restaurant. However, it still has to be considered one of Indy's best beer establishments. If you love beer, you're on the Southside, and you want to get good value for your money, then Shallos is a must!
(5)Jim L.
Went there for the first time, newbie in town. Felt like I was a Mirage. Got a beer Ok, then nobody wanted to take my order so I left.
(1)Kris P.
Our second choice as newbies in the area. Should have been our first choice. Steph was great server. Food and beer great. Highly recommend.
(5)Paul M.
Best beer selection in Indy, and they take pub food to another level, but only pub food.Wish they had a more updated building. Try the chips, fried Mac n cheese and swap sauce.
(4)Max G.
A nice place but if you are on a diet this is not the place for you. I love the deep fried macaroni but it is a little overpriced.
(3)Aaron W.
The food is pretty darn good, especially the panko breaded tenderloin. Get it with a side of the "swamp sauce", a Caribbean style sauce with a gingery kick. The beer selection is large, yes, but I am not usually wowed. This last visit, they didn't even have an Indiana beer on tap and only two breweries were represented by bottles. No 3 Floyds, no Fountain Square, no Sun King, no New Albanian. Only bottles of Flat 12 and Triton. The restaurant interior is gorgeous and welcoming. Very cozy and pub-y.
(3)T. J.
The best Bar in Indy! Want a specialty Beer? They got it! If they dont ask and they will get it. Join their club, drink beers and become famous when the post your name on the wall. They have a great Atmosphere, The two story bar has a very cool theme with old signs and dark stained wood. Food, well they have good food too... you must try the chips and dip... the French Onion soup is a must try as well! Shallos, YOU ROCK!!!
(5)Trena R.
I'm slowly but surely working to get my name on the wall... one beer at a time. Never a bad experience, but maybe because the bartenders are engaging and the food is tasty and fast. The atmosphere can't be beat - always something to look at and a secret passage to sneak through. (shhhh) Did I mention the ginormous beer selection? If you haven't been, go!
(5)Stephanie W.
If you like beer or want to like beer, you need to try Shallo's. The food is traditional pub food. It's good, not bad, but the beer is the reason for coming. Over 100 beers (probably more), the most on tap I have seen yet, and a variety to be rivaled. Porters and Stouts you would never see anywhere else, ciders you've never heard of, and combinations you would never imagine. Ask for the menu and try a different beer each time you visit. The atmosphere is class wood and brass with seating available at tables and at the rail. The rail is for regulars, so don't expect much conversation unless you're asking a specific question about the beer. The French Onion soup is the shiz and goes nicely with a simple house salad. Cold, crisp, big pieces of crunchy lettuce with the right amount of toppings. This is one place we like to take friends and family when they visit and want to go somewhere local. Children and family are invited!
(5)Kara P.
This is *the* place to go for drinks in Greenwood. The beer list is mind-blowing and the prices are reasonable. The menu is typical bar food. The nachos are good and I really like the buffalo chicken sandwich. And if you discover you've had one too many beers you can go next door to Old Time Pottery and buy a bunch of stuff you probably don't need buy you'll impulse buy because of the cheap prices.
(4)Shari F.
Had the battered cod one night and came back a few nights later for a swamp burger and onion rings. Fantastic beer on tap. Food was delicious. Will not forget to come back! Service both evenings was exceptional.
(4)Holly G.
Huge beer selection, just about anything you want. Went to watch a pacers game but there were very few TVs and the lighting was horrible. Unique atmosphere and a good place to have a drink and appetizers with some friends.
(4)Brittany L.
If you are a lover of beer, go here. The food is fine, pretty typical pub/bar fare, I'm partial to the swamp chicken nachos...but you should be going here to drink hard-to-find beers. It's all SMOKE FREE...awesome! I like looking at all the memorabilia. Although the location is in a strip mall (next to Old Time Pottery), the interior is incredible. Two stories of dark wood paneling with a tin-tiled ceiling and historic relics hanging all over the place. There's a nice mix of tables and U-shaped booths, as well as bar seating. Kids are allowed, and they have a pretty decent kids menu. There are two items here (besides the swamp marinade) that you don't find at many other places in central Indiana: a gargantuan twice-baked potato with ham (excessive, but perfect for 2 to share) and the hot brown (a KY thing). Sometimes, we've had trouble getting seated. Sometimes we've had service by servers who were downright slow, but tonight was just great. Another annoyance is that the beer list tends to be incredibly out of date, which can make it VERY hard to order your drink, when the server has to go back and forth from table to bar to find out "we're out of that". I love that the music isn't loud and there aren't 20,000 TVs all over. It's more of a "sit and talk with your mates over a pint" type of place. I think we've gone here 4-5 times in the past 12 months...one of the few things that makes a trek into Greenwood worthwhile.
(4)Jason B.
I've only been here once and it was just for drinks. Bases off of that, I do recommend stopping in and taking a look around. It's a pretty neat building since on the outside it just looks like a strip mall restaurant. They have quite the beer selection, both draft and bottles. I've been told that their beer list is not always completely accurate, so if you're looking for a special beer, ask the bartender and see. There's probably a good chance they have it. The other nice part is it's located next to Old Time Pottery. I will definitely be back here for more delicious beer and to try out some of the food.
(4)Megan M.
Shallos claim to fame is the incredible beer selection. Service is usually so-so. It's not terrible but there isn't anything stellar about it either. I haven't had a lot on their menu but what I have tried is pretty solid. They have great (amazing) homemade chips with a Parmesan ranch dip. The 1/2 order size is monstrous - I can't imagine what the full size would be! The hot brown is a delicious a open faced turkey sandwich, with bacon and cheese.
(3)Rachael N.
Best ranch ever!
