Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Decided to give this location a try after going to the original on Madison last weekend. Nacho portion was smaller and the chicken had a little less flavor than the other one. Ground beef chili taco was pretty good. Customer service was better than other location. I will go here again, especially since I am only about a half mile down the road.

I've seen the commercials and always wondered what makes Roscoe's so special. Umm, NOTHING. This review is based on two visits. First visit I stopped by and gave them a try because I really wanted some tacos. The location is new, the place is clean. Front cashier was nice enough. I got three tacos. They were basic. Nothing special. Nothing especially good. They were not bigger than most I get in Mexican restaurants, which they talked about in their commercial. Just tacos you can make at home. I like the cheesy bean cup, but nothing special. Not really worth the money or gas to shop here. Oh, and one of the managers decides that in front of the customers was a great time to belittle a cook staff though the kitchen window. Wait time as not bad and worth one star. Second visit, I didn't really want to go in, but I said, hey, like me try it again since I give a no-so-glowing review. Again, its clean. People are enjoying their food. So I ask for a sampler with soft shells. The cashier says in a rude matter, they can't do soft shells. I was like what? So let me get this right, the tacos have nothing special on them and I'm asking for a different shell and you are saying no? Bye-bye, Roscoe's. Nope, I did not order a thing. I went two doors down to Lil Cesar's and got a hot and ready. Roscoe's, I'm not sure what you are selling and why you are different from any Taco Bell. So come here make no sense to me anymore. There is a Mexican restaurant about 3 mins driving distance from your door. I will prefer to go there and wait for larger, authentic Mexican tacos where I have the option of the soft shell even if the wait is long and it cost $2 just to do carry out. Also, your staff appears to be high schoolers and college students. Please teach them about good customer service and the appropriate methods/time to give coworkers feedback.

There is nothing special or good about the food here. Shredded chicken tacos are bland and chicken is dry. I've had better tacos at taco bell. Will not be coming back

The service was good and the portions were generous. However, I would have liked to have more seasonings or flavors available for the food. I had the Big Beef Burrito and while it was filling, the flavor was lacking. The dining room also looked like it needed more cleaning Our table had some dried drink rings on the table and there was food crumbs and a couple of napkins on the floor. I'm willing to go back again and try some other items on their menu. The service was good and the staff was friendly.

Visited the (relatively) new, second location for Roscoe's yesterday. Man, I don't know what it is about this place, but I just get a craving for it and nothing else will satisfy me. The Paul Bunyan chicken tacos rock my world. Especially with the Texas Brushfire sauce. Yesterday I gave the Pecos Bill burrito a try (essentially a chili beef burrito) and was equally satisfied. I like an upscale meal as much as the next person, but sometimes you just want to stuff your face with some really good, really simple, REALLY tasty tacos. I got my 10 year old (who is currently growing an inch a week and eating me out of house and home) a half order of the Nachos Supremo and it was still too much food for her. I don't think I'd have been able to finish a half order myself. The second location is clearly more modern and updated than the original location. But it doesn't even matter to me. I'm about halfway between the two locations, and I'd gladly eat at either.

Posted a similar review for the Greenwood location. I frequent both. I get a craving about twice a month that I just cannot shake. I always get the Paul Bunyan with everything on it. Something about that chili meat that just melts in your mouth. I am a huge fan of the Bushfire sauce. The sauces make the meal! I keep a bottle in my fridge at all times! I definitely agree with others on the Cowboy Cookie claim. They are delicious. Service has always fast and courteous. All of the negative reviews perplex me. I was pretty happy about this location opening up. It's actually more convenient for me than the one in Greenwood. The other two location closings had nothing to do with the food per se. I lived in Avon and went to that location many many times. Avon just does not do well with local businesses. If you look at their track record, the number of establishments that have come and gone is just sad. I think the same can be said for the Irvington location. I also ate there many times and the food was consistent. It was in an out of the way spot. I just don't think they got the traffic they needed. They are not trying to be authentic Mexican. They are a taco joint.

Best tacos on the south side of Indy and some of the best in the city. All 3 meat selections are great, especially the chili beef. This place is very particular on their combos and what they serve (i.e. no soft shells and most items can't be substituted on their menu). I'm not going to doc them a star as they're local and its their food, take it or leave it. The true greatness is their sauces. They make their own and IMO make the tacos. Texas Brushfire is great with a lot of flavor and not much bite. Lava and Too Darn Hot are my personal favorites. Keep making great tacos!

It's their first day of opening so I'm cutting some slack. They were pretty busy, but for a taco place I do expect a little bit speedier service than what was provided. Staff is extremely helpful and funny. Menu is kind of a pain to read though lettering is small. And the other menu is always changing. Can't comment on the food yet though, as I haven't had a chance to eat it. I'll keep you updated. Edit: got my tacos not long after the first post. About a 15 min wait for to go.. No too bad Food is good. Nothing amazing but the flavor is there I got the son of sampler. I will be back

I've been eating at Roscoe's tacos for years. I'm so excited They finally built one on my side of town. The food is always hot, fresh, and made to order. I've never been let down by the flavors or the quality. A Great quick meal that is always satisfying!

It was fast friendly and clean. Over priced and pretty bland. Had the chicken. Maybe the sauces are what's special about this place. I didn't try them. The nacho round chips looked like they could have been Kroger brand. I was out in the area but wouldn't make a stop again.

Only one guy working? What's up with that. Food is still good, but service leaves something to be desired. This never happens to us at the Greenwood location. EDIT: Dude came around with some damn good cookies to say sorry for the wait. Nice gesture, it was appreciated.

The food was good. Not great, but good. I loved that they used real meat. The service was mediocre due to the fact that there was only one person working at the time. I got the chicken tacos and tried all their different sauces which once again were just ok. Overall, it's nothing to brag about, but if you're in the mood for tacos than its better than taco bell.

Taste is so bad, the stars are for the service. Do people here know what taco is? What they sell is NOT taco! So processed, pathetic.
(2)Garrett B.
Wasn't impressed with the shredded chicken. Pretty bland and dry. Tried the quesadillas and taco too. Was expensive for for just one person with a drink ($13) Can't say that I'd recommend.

Overpriced, bland, and waste of time! We went here before knowing what it was - excited that it may be actually was owned by a guy named "Roscoe" and that this was his special taco store. Guess what? Its not. I have nothing against cheap food, heck, I love cheap food! But no doubt, save your money and go to Taco Bell. There were 4 of us there, none of us all too hard to please - and not one good thing to say about the food. It was plain (I don't even think they use taco seasoning) and the chips were similar to those of a gas station... Like really Roscoe? Is this what you wanted to do when you charge prices like $10 a meal? It makes no sense to me. And although the ratings were rough before we arrived, I always give places a chance. And maybe I had high hopes for a good taco place to appear in Southport? But this place will never be returned to. Unfortunately.

I finally got to eat here, they had a place on the east side but it closed down, they had a place in Avon and it closed and after eating here I know why. Their #1 special 2 tacos, chili or chicken, and drink. I wanted one of each,a chili and a chicken, was told they couldn't do that. Why not they're both the same price. I ordered the chili and it was absolutely nothing special about it. The drink was good. If this is their best customer service it's no wonder they closed the other locations. So if you want to try this place you had better get here fast cause I'm sure they won't be here long. I will not be back

Had their nachos...I'm better off going to the bowling alley. Very cheap ingredients.

Perfect tacos. Fresh toppings, delicious meat, crunchy but not stale shell, and that City Slicker sauce... what's in that sauce?! I love Roscoe's and am so happy there's a location by my house now. I will definitely return. Two or three little tacos for lunch is the perfect amount and it's cheap considering the only other options at this intersection are pizza, pizza, and more pizza.

We tried this place to find out the food is made and trucked in from a local warehouse. I am not thrilled about this and the fact my food was cold and it was not even what I ordered makes it worse. So much for fresh food options. I think I would rather have pizza from any of the 4 locations close by. Service was bad. Too small. There is no space at all for a family at all. I wanted so bad to try this place but after waiting 15 minutes for 2 tacos it was already overwhelming. New or not new this is a chain restaurant and should have there stuff together.

Very nice. Manager very nice. Food is good. Best guacamole. It is not a traditional Mexican resturant, so have an open mind an enjoy the differece. The price is great.

Pretty decent food. Quick service, simple menu. One of the owners gave us complimentary meals. Never heard of it otherwise. Definitely middle of the road.
