Great little diner! All the sandwiches are superb. Try the Mile High Club. Come back for the Hawg' Dog. Drink a nostalgic Choc-ola. Get there early, they close at 7pm.

I have eaten many of their breakfast and lunch items. All very good, very large portions, good prices. Old 50's style mom n pop cafe, small inside with limited seating, lots of memorabilia from yesteryear all over the walls. Kitchen in middle of cafe, so the food is basically cooked right in front of your eyes. I like the giant BBQ sandwich, add cheese, and bring a fork because you can not pick it up to eat it due to it being packed with so much meat and BBQ, its just pouring out from all sides, such a yummy mess of a sandwich, it must be tried by all. The weekend breakfast buffet is also great, and if you want something special that's not on the buffet, just ask the cook, and they will make it for you. Slabs of yummy ham, endless bacon, and sausage patties, along with taters, biscuits n gravy, scrambled eggs, french toast, and more, whats not to like. The fast movin short order cook is great to chat with while he's cookin up a storm on the grill. Quite the skilled multi-tasker he is. The staff is friendly, and my drink stays full. Good food, good service, good prices. Try them!

Probably one of the best places in Indy to grab something unhealthy and delicious. They are well-known for their mile-high club, which is a monster sandwich that could easily be shared. I'm a fan of their hot ham po' boy. The restaurant is rather unassuming on the exterior and tacky fun on the inside--lots of memorabilia from the '50s. There is not a great deal of seating and they are quite likely to have at least half the restaurant filled when you enter, so avoid bringing a large group. The staff is quick and attentive, with just the shade of sarcastic humor and rudeness you would expect from a diner. Abuse is love in this establishment, don't take them as being rude, they are just trying to be funny. If you are in a hurry, please call ahead. This is not fast food and you will not make it out the door in half an hour. Plan to spend some time enjoying great food in a fun atmosphere. Rock-Cola 50's Cafe is a real Indiana Treasure.

This is a neat diner out on the road to nowhere (Brookville Rd). When you first walk inside, you feel like you've stepped into the 50s. The service is friendly and fast. Breakfast is a good deal. You get a lot of food for little money. It's your typical greasy spoon stuff - eggs, biscuits & gravy, sausage, bacon, ham, etc.

Food portions are good; my daughter ordered a full biscuits and gravy and she'd have been better with a half order. Food prices are very reasonable 4 adult meals with drinks was 31.51. So we all left full. Now for the cons... Service was slow... Not that I'm saying the waitresses were incompetent, just not thorough ... We had to ask for menus, get someone to take our order and refills . Maybe they got it together after us because I didn't notice any other tables inconvenienced like us. Cooks didn't use hairnets or gloves when plating food either. Overall I'd say I'm glad I went because it just goes to show that you can not always go by the stars... I'd be back if I was in the area, but today drove 30 mins to dine.there are plenty of 3 star breakfast joints, still looking for that 4 star

LOVE THIS PLACE! Everything is delicious and very reasonably price. 16 oz pork chop cooked to perfection, giant grilled tenderloins. They say the sign of a good chef is how well they can prepare an egg...these guys are MASTERS!

Great tasting food and a fun environment!! I had the best pancake I've ever bought here, and as it may turn out, that was a mistake. My wife ordered the Reuben, and even though the pancake was out of this world good, I was wishing I would have ordered the Reuben too!! The food here tastes amazing!! The service is good too. Our waitress was clean and friendly and helpful. She explained some things to us and was a big help. If I have any complaints, they would be these: I saw greasy dust balls hanging from the decor on the ceiling and part of the ceiling was sagging. So, the cleanliness of the place could use a LOT of work. Also, I paid for 2 sandwiches, 1 order of fries, 1 pancake, 1 omelet, and 4 drinks; NEARLY $50!!! Oh my goodness!! They are proud of their great tasting food!!

First time here, didn't really know what to expect from a 50's diner. We split a tenderloin and my daughter got a grilled ham and cheese with onion rings. Both sandwiches were huge and very good. We will definitely be back.

It was just ok. We had cheeseburgers with fries and one with mushrooms. I can't really say it was spectacular. Service was alright. Seemed to be some regulars there. I couldn't help but notice that when a customer would leave staff wiped the table down then went right back to touching food with unwashed hands. Same thing when they handled money. Just a thought.

I have been wanting to find this place since I read the article about their acquisition of Choc-ola and took my girls for lunch a few weeks ago. The exterior is fun and the interior is interesting, plastered wall to wall to ceiling with memorabilia. We sat up on the 50s teal bar stools that my 6 yr old couldn't resist spinning in and carefully reviewed the menu. I opted for the burger and soft drink, while the girls selected a grilled cheese (6 yr old - no kids menu) and the teen a Chicago Style Steak & Cheese, beginning with a Jumbo Sampler basket (onion rings, fries, poppers & cheese sticks). The girls both got a Chocola & I ordered a diet coke (free refills). I ended up ordering extra fries, (as mine didn't come with any) and a side of cottage cheese for the little one. The burger looked good, but when the cheese steak came out and was too hot for my daughter to eat, we traded. I didn't realize it came with jalapenos and pickled peppers, so I took them off. Even still it was very over peppered and way too spicy to enjoy. The cafe began fill up with a few regulars and got pretty busy. The owners worked the grill and cash register while another server helped them out. I don't know if we caught the cook on a bad day, but he seemed irritated and not so happy to be there. There was a To Go order that took him some time which could have been the issue. The woman helping us was very friendly and glad that we stopped in. I really had hoped for this to be a a great find, and from others reviews, may have caught it on a bad day, but for the food we got the prices seemed rather high ($37 for lunch with 2 kids - BEFORE tip - so $45). Needless to say, we opted not to stay for dessert.

I don't know that I would be a regular, but it was very cool to see an east side staple. It is a typical greasy spoon breakfast and lunch place. I thought the food was good and the staff was very friendly. Small 50's style diner. It is really cool that the owner created Cho-ola and years later has been responsible for getting it back in stores in Indiana. You can also buy carry out cho-ola. You can also get flavored cokes which is always fun. I definitely think everyone should eat here once and if you are looking for just a basic solid greasy spoon breakfast or lunch this would be a great spot.

Hours have expanded. Now open past lunch time. This is the classic greasy spoon joint. Don't expect to get celery and humus here! Dive in for some good old greasy onion rings or jalapeño poppers. Had the club sandwich this time and it did not disappoint. This sucker is made with Texas toast and thick cut bacon. Be sure to grab an original Choc-Cola while you are there. Cow Power!

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. 50s music played the entire time, which complemented the movie posters and regalia adorning the walls the ceiling. The food was excellent. I had the breaded chicken sandwich with onion rings and a coke, which came out to around $12 before tip. Will definitely go back to try some of the other menu items!

This place is s hidden gem. You would be skeptical or even leery on initial appearance. However you would be wrong. The food was fantastic, the staff friendly, and every thing was very well received. They also have Choc-Ola. If you don't know about it, imagine you hoo on steroids and 3 times better. I'm just glad I don't live real close to here as I would be a regular. Check it out if you get a chance.

A tiny but completely cool place. Cook "invented" a dish for me because I wanted cornbeef hash. Great service . Others at table had blueberry waffles and French Toast - all very tasty. Only downside is that the coffee... Well, it's diner coffee...

I live in the area and have been wanting to try this 60's themed restuarant for a while as I've heard it has good sandwiches. However, one morning I took my daughter to try the breakfast buffet. The buffet food was pretty good, especially the biscuits and gravy, but made up of strictly breakfast items, with nothing special on it. Drinks were priced separate. We weren't offered toast, but I noticed others were served it, so I am not sure it comes with the buffet. The check with our two drinks came out to $24.26. For a small breakfast buffet, with no brunch items, seemed overpriced and not in line with the 50's greasy spoon diner vibe atmosphere. There are better buffets for breakfast for less in town.

I went here with my little sister for lunch, and let me tell you. They had chocola & the best philly cheese steak sandwich! We ordered our food and it only took 5 minutes for us to get our food! Service is great, but I found it kind of rude that the chief was on his phone the entire time we were there.

Our favorite spot for breakfast. It doesn't hurt that there's an extremely fresh and affordable breakfast buffet on the weekends. I love that you can see the cook making your food...and see when he puts hot, fresh potatoes into the chafing dish! Buffet usually has bacon, ham, and smoked sausage, scrambled eggs (watch out for the shells), biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes and onions, fresh toast, Belgian waffle halves, and a couple other things. We went for lunch or dinner once too and ate sandwiches. My Italian beef was very tasty, and HUGE! The portions are very generous for the price you're paying. The restaurant is small so hopefully you'll time it right so you don't have to wait for a table. The ceiling and walls are decorated with 1950s memorabilia. Howdy Doody stares you down from the front door. I think kids and most adults will enjoy talking about all the different decorations. The waitresses and customers have been friendly each time we've been in. Other than the eggshells which sometimes show up in the scrambled eggs, and the fact that they close at 7pm (WTH?), no issues. At some point in time, I'll try Choc-ola. As a kid, my mom told me that Yoohoo wasn't made of "actual food" and I've been wary of similar beverages ever since.

I am shocked by several negative reviews. This is a really great diner. I first came here about 5 years ago to try the grilled tenderloin which had been highly recommended by a friend. I usually go for the Hoosier breaded tenderloins, but theirs is a fritter and nothing to write home about. But the grilled one is the stuff dreams are made of. Really. It's that good. I think it's their top-seller, and after one bite, you'll see why. I have a friend from Jersey who says their Philly Cheesesteak is one of the very few in Indy worth eating. She says it's very good. I wish I could review more items, but the tenderloin is so good that I can't bring myself to be adventurous and sample other items on the menu.

I have wanted to check this place our for awhile and I am really sad I didn't do it SOONER!! Yeah guys it was that damn good:D My friend got the Mile High Sandwich and I got the Italian Beef Sand... Oh My is all I can say....yummmmmm hahaha ok I just lost my train of thought:D ( Flashbacks ) and I am not from Indy so I did not konw if the choc-cola soda?!?! SOOOO GOOD....I can't wait to go back so many more options to try....

Fantastic experience at this great little diner! The food was crazy fresh. You order a tenderloin, the cook pulls a tenderloin out and pounds it thin, but not too thin, before throwing it on the grill. The Hawg Dawg was excellent, the pulled pork on top was nice and smoky and the coleslaw was cool and tangy like it should be. The fries and onion rings were just what you'd expect at a diner, not gourmet by any means but done really well. Then there's Choc-Ola. Oh my goodness. It really takes you back. It's available by the glass, can, or a half-gallon to take home. The service is great as well. When they say; "Thanks for coming in!" you know they really mean it. If you haven't been here yet, add it to your list.

I started going to this place back in 1993 when Richard and Donetta owned it. They made a wonderful business there.I visited once a few months ago and was a bit disappointed when I noticed the one owner a African American gentleman cooking with visable nasal mucus. I would like to support this place but can't as long as he is cooking there. Aside of that I have always found it to be great place with good food.

This is a jewel.Malts;where you can taste the malted, and home made coleslaw with a yummy dressing. When the slaw was delivered(prior to the burger, pretty classy) the monkey dish was overflowing with the dressing. With a lesser dressing I would have found it irritating, but with this I just drank it after eating my veggies. The burger was so right in so many ways the only way it could have been better was if it were free;but at 4 bucks thats pretty darn close.I've gotta try at least one more thing and if that's as big a hit as the burger then ROCK-COLA deserves 6 stars.

Great place. Never even realized it was here. They sell Chock-ola in quarts. They say that for now it's the only place you can get it in town. Staff made me feel at home and the smoked sausage sandwich was comfort food squared. The pork fritter took me back to grade school lunch room delights.

Went for breakfast. Didn't really want to do the breakfast buffet but they told me that it was the only option. Food was mediocre. Greasy, but I guess I should've expected it. The lady cooking was wearing flip flops!!!! Major Health Code violation!! The place seemed really dirty. The TV was blaring and they had it on an infomercial the whole time. Super disappointed with our visit.

For what it is, it's great. The portion sizes are huge and it has that 50's diner feel to it. I enjoybtue food whenever I go. The have those little flip a coin into a box and win a burger things on all of the tables and, somehow, that is like my only talent in life. Unfortunately, they don't actually participate in that anymore so no free burger for me.

This place is sooooooo awesome!!! My boyfriend and I were needing some greasy hang over food. One of my good friends had told me about this place and it's super close to our house. We walked in, and the server from behind the counter was very friendly and welcoming. The decor is eclectic 50's with some really old creepy marionettes. ha ha which is pretty cool if you ask me. I had the b's and g's with hashbrowns. i fell in love immediately. the b's and g's were as good as mine! I will go back for sure!

Stopped again at Rock Cola Cafe before my Marine Corps League staff meeting. Karen had a Poor Boy and I had a Reuben. Both were excellent, as is usual for this cafe. I have never had a bad meal there...ever. I highly recommend Rock Cola to anyone if you are in the area...or if you are just nearby.

My boyfriend and I are always looking for new places to eat at, well places that are new to us. So we happened upon this place and decided to give it a try. I honestly wish that we hadn't. Our food was mediocre, but what really got to me, was how dirty the place was. And watching them cook was another matter in and of itself. Things that should have been either on ice or refrigeration were just sitting on the countertop, ie eggs (broken shells in the container), butter, tomatoes, lettuce, and it was pretty warm in there, and not refrigerating your items could get someone sick. Not once did I see someone wash their hands, after handling change or after scratching a body part. Needless to say after we left we ended up being sick the rest of the day and night and couldn't eat anything else that day. We will not be back.

A lovely little cafe. The choc-ola is great, and they have the only philly cheese steak worth having in Indy, as far as I can tell. The ambiance is fantastic, but the service is, honestly, a little rude. I'll chalk that up to authenticity.

Authentic, Great Service, and a True Old Time Cafe! For an old style rail road rock'n cafe with a behind the counter cook and what would you like sweeetieee waitress......this place is perfect! A small place only open for breakfast and lunch truly ROCKS some old time favorites......comfort food! I'm not from Indianapolis but I look for this type of place when I travel and find them rarely! I've had the Philly Cheese sandwich, Burger, and Ruben - I'm coming back to try another item and then another. If you want an authentic cherry-cola you'll get one here.

Best corned beef sandwich around!! The corned beef is better than Sharpiro's and my husband loves the grilled chicked sandwich! We've been eating here for years, we love it!!

Breakfast was too greasy. The staff were nice but we will not go back. We spent $19 for two people which is too much for breakfast.

I love this place. OK it's just a diner. But the food is sooo good. Friendly staff. Simple and old fashioned. Grilled ham and cheese and a chocolate malt? Can't beat it. Compare to: Edwards Drive-In.

A yummy local dinner! They make great burgers and I love breakfast here! Get some Chocola while you are here or a tasty real milk shake!
(5)Brenton A.
