Red Habanero Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

  • Jake B.

It should be noted that I'm very particular with my Mexican food. Red Habanero has a great vibe and friendly, attentive staff. The food, however was a little above average. The retried beans were very good, but being the picky eater I am, I couldn't find anything other than tacos.

Our favorite place to eat Mexican is closed for remodeling, so we tried out Red Habenero for the first time tonight. It was a pretty good experience, here's what we learned: Food was good. I had the cilantro cream wet burrito and my partner had the shrimp fajitas, and we shared the tres leches for dessert. Burrito sauce was much less heavy than expected. The cilantro sauce was infused with lime and gave the burrito a light, citrus flavor that was refreshing and unexpected. I will say, though, that the rice, beans, and shredded chicken were kind of dry, which was a surprise for a "wet" burrito. Tres leches was solid. It wasn't going to put any Mexican grandmothers to shame, but it was wet with sweetened milk all-the-way through and still held its consistency. Service was courteous, but they didn't seem particularly glad to see us. It was reasonably prompt, but the restaurant was empty. I can definitely understand how it could be slow to get in and out of there on a busy night.

The hubs and I have been here twice and each time I leave with a feeling of indifference. The first time here, we both had the cilantro cream wet burrito and while the cilantro cream was delicious, the chicken inside was dry and bland. Oh and it only comes with chicken. The ability to order other proteins would be great. Service was alright. Not over friendly but not negligent either. We tried visiting several more times after our intial visit but the line was always out the door which should be a good sign. On our most recent visit, I figured out why there is always a massive wait. No one buses the tables. We watched four tables around us go untouched throughout our meal while there was a steady stream of people coming in. At one point, a server picked up all the dirty dishes from one table and moved them to another dirty table just to be able to seat a family. As for the food, it was kind of bland and forgettable. There are too many mexican options in Fishers to waste one more disappointing experience on this place.

I don't know why we keep coming back expecting service to get better. It's terrible. We stood around waiting to be seated while the servers stood around chatting, one on their cell phone. When we finally were seated we waited around again, same scenario. Since this has happened several times, we decided to leave and go to a restaurant that actually tends to their patrons. Unless you're ordering to go, don't bother.

It makes me kinda sad to have to update my review after a string of really bad experiences at Red Habanero. This used to be our weekly "go to" and have found that since a few key staff members have left the taste and quality of the food, the service, and the attention to detail went downhill quickly. It seems that our food has not come out right for at least the past 5 visits -- if not more. This wouldn't be a huge deal if my hubs didn't have a true allergy, but I would like to keep him around for a bit longer. Tonight we have seen our waiter 3 times -- when we sat down, when the food came (wrong), and I am hoping the third will be eventually when he brings the check as it's been a while -- I have been finished with my meal and had the time to re-write this review ... Sorry Red Habanero -- we tried to give you the benefit of the doubt ... 5 times in a row is just too much. (And no, we still don't have our check)

This place is an amazing authentic Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is more upscale compared to other Mexican restaurants, but the prices are the same. All of the food tastes fresh. Best salsa around. The ceviche is amazing and fresh, not fishy at all. The best thing I can recommend is the Organic Margarita! Best margarita I have had in my life. They don't use any mix. Highly recommend this place if you want authentic fresh Mexican cuisine!

  • Jennifer H.

This is my new favorite place for Mexican food around here because it is very fresh and has good flavor combinations you don't usually find. The cilantro cream sauce was amazing. I also really enjoyed a cucumber margarita, it was delicious and had plenty of pieces of cucumber with chili flakes and salt around the rim. I will most definitely be back.

I'm a big fan of mexican restaurants, which is shocking considering I stay FARRR away from them growing up. Maybe my appetite is making up for my youthful negligence... but have no fear, I'm making up for it now. I have the cilantro crema burrito, and it may have been my favorite burrito I have ever tasted (aside from the beefy 5-layer burrito from Taco Bell, don't judge). The atmosphere was nice, and overall it was a good experience. I'm holding out the fifth star purely because our waiter wasn't the friendliest.

We went here on a Saturday night. It was busy, but not super crowded. The staff was very friendly. We sat at the bar and they gave us samples of some of their speciality drinks. They were delicious. The food was ok. I was very disappointed by the taste of the food. The sour cream enchiladas and steak con carne were subpar at best. This could be a great place if the food was better.

We went here for dinner on a Friday around 830pm. I ordered the a salad with chicken and my better half had the bean burritos. The food was good. The service was slightly above average. However, the place was extremely loud. We could hardly hear each other while trying to carry on a conversation. Adding to the noise was a table of loud, rude folks. I would have given it another star if it weren't for the noise. Not a bad place but I won't be back.

  • Megan D.

Once again, I am uncertain of the high reviews on Yelp for a restaurant. This place is definitely not a repeat for me. We stopped in to this restaurant for dinner when we drove by and saw the amount of people inside as typically the more people there are, the better the place. However, we were greatly disappointed in our overall experience. The service was extremely slow, we had to ask three different people for more salsa before they remembered our table existed. I ordered a burrito that was completely cold when received. The queso that topped the burrito was cold and hard, and the tortilla it was wrapped in was so stiff, I couldn't cut it with my knife. The only reason this place is getting two stars instead of one is because my frozen margarita was halfway decent and the only thing I finished.

Better than average Mexican place, prices reasonable, but if looking for truly 'authentic', keep searching, though Indy is probably not the place for that.

  • Brittan B.

This place is great if you love authentic Mexican food. To put it into context locally it's basically a La Piedad/El Rodeo/La Hacienda meets Qdoba but the ingredients are better quality than La Bambas.

  • Kyle S.

Was in the mood for something spicy and the Camerones Diablas did not disappoint. Food was great, very tasty, will definitely be back

Awful service! Awful food! I waited 5 minutes before being acknowledged then it took the waiter another 7 minutes to bring my diet coke. I ordered a cheese quesadilla with rice in it, when it was brought to me there was no rice inside. When I finally found my waiter again he said he could bring me the rice on the side. I will NOT be coming back.

The food here is very good. Our new favorite Mexican resturant. The ceviche is excellent and I always order tortillas with it...excellent when you fill the tortilla with the ceviche, lime, avocado and cilantro...yum! The margaritas are very good however, I had to send one back once because it seemed as if there was no tequila in the drink. Came back fine!

    (4)
  • Sara C.

I love the food here. I think it's really fresh and you can get a hot meal pretty quickly and affordably. I prefer to carry out because I think you get a bigger portion (of nachos that is - I am a nacho fanatic). I actually crave this place way more than is healthy.

  • RICK R.

Wife and I eat at Hab. #2 weekly. The server Carlos is excellent. The others, need help. Food is always great. Gives authentic mexican with an asian flair. I usually get arroz con pollo. Only one I have ever had with broccoli and mushrooms, but it is excellent. The wife gets the chimi and I love the smoky flavor of the meat. As all good Mexican joints, great beer and margarita specials. Try it.

  • Barry S.

I came here on a recommendation. This place is what Qdoba and Chipotle could be, if they tried harder. It is setup much the same, but the meat, sauces, rice and really all components are much better. The price is not bad and they have a salsa bar. The salsa is adequate, although I think it could be improved. Needs more salt and flavor. I will go back for sure.

  • Kyle D.

Red Habanero is amazing. I tried it and then went back again within two days, haha. That says something! The burritos are amazing; I've had two kinds of burritos and will probably branch out to try something else next time. They have so much on their menu! I love that they have cilantro as a burrito topping and their salsa bar is great. The tomatilla salsa is addicting. I highly recommend the Fajita Grill burrito with chicken. Too many good things for this little box can be said about the place, so I'll just cut myself off right now and assume I've said enough. :)

Five star service (and really good food) hands down! I went into RH for the second time in a week the other night, about 12 minutes before closing. Anyone who has ever been a server knows that "those people" are the kitchen's worst nightmare...everything is almost all cleaned up, people are checking the clock and they are diligently PRAYING, PRAYING that no one walks in wanting more than directions to some other restaurant. That said, I felt a tiny bit guilty about us being "those people" Tuesday night when I saw no one inside, the food prep counter spotless and the guy behind it wiping everything down. I asked if it was ok if we still got something and he was genuinely sincere when he said, yes, of course! I tried to rush the significant other along with the food selection saying, "come on, they're closing" and again he held his hand up and said "Please. Don't rush, take your time." At that point I knew he meant it, he wasn't aggravated at us coming in and he was going to treat us right. It was great. Given the guilt reprieve, I went ahead and ordered a margarita that was on special ($3.99 Tuesday nights - don't know if this is an every Tuesday thing though). This fantastic guy patiently made our dishes up exactly how we wanted them, even allowing a combination of 2 meats in the burrito for no extra charge. The steak is in freshly grilled chunks that he masterfully chopped into bite size pieces with (dangerous looking) knife speed - it was cool. We got our food and took a seat while he got our drinks. I saw him hand mix my margarita (no icky premixes here!) and was shocked by its size when he brought it out to me. That thing is a deal! Great flavor, a real glass, salt, lime....the whole nine yards - much as you would expect from a much higher end restaurant. Portion sizes here are pretty substantial. We could have split our nachos or burrito easily, although I noticed that not one remnant of the burrito remained on my fiances plate - he was impressed! My nachos were great - you can pick your bean, meat and then up to 4 toppings. My only suggestion would be to thicken up the queso sauce a bit - its just a little thin to cling to the nacho chips! :) Add to that the salsa bar where you can pick your poison from about 5 salsas of varying hotness and complimentary jalapenos (score!) and you are in business. This place rocks - seriously. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly and really appreciated his complete focus on customer service. I don't know if he's the guy who runs the place, but if he isn't, he ought to be - I don't give 5 stars lightly. It's people like that who make a business stand out from the crowd.

  • Rich R.

The service was so good. Very intuitive and they served more chips, drinks etc. before I even knew I needed them. The ambience is cheerful, clean and modern. I am Mexican and very discriminatory about 'real' Mexican food. Although I wouldn't rate this as authentic, it's about as good as your going to get in the immiediate region. Good variety of drinks, to include Mexican beers. I would definitely go again if I didn't want to make the drive to a real Mexican restaurant. Again, service was the best around, hands down.

  • Mike S.

We've eaten at Red Hab #2 5 times now and each time the service and food have been great. The food is always fresh and tasty, and they have great sauces. Service has been very friendly and prompt. The chips and salsa are good too. We love it!

  • Sam H.

We had a craving for mexican food and saw this place and decided to give it a try. I got carnitas which were tender and well seasoned. Phili got spinach enchiladas and she kept making the yummy sound indicating her enjoyment. Our only complaint was that the margarita totally tasted like it was from a mix rather than just tequila, tripel sec and lime juice. Kind of a womp womp for a mexican restaurant. Our server lucy was super nice and got our food and drinks out to us quickly. If we find ourselves in indianapolis again, we will stop in for sure.

  • Julie S.

I almost feel quilty giving Red Habanero only 4 stars because the service was SUPERB. We felt like we were at a fancy restaurant because the waiter was THAT attentive. But don't get me wrong, he didn't annoy us. The food, however, was just okay. By this I mean, the food was good, just not fantastic. The refried beans were really good, though. Since, we really respected the service we received, we will go there again. The only downside was that it was very chilly in there. So be sure to wear a sweater.

  • Cliff H.

Excellent food! Prices are reasonable. They have authentic Mexican beverages including Jarritos sodas and Mexican beer. The chicken is cut and prepped before your eyes and tacos, burritos and enchiladas are expertly plated. There is no traditional waiter service and you take your food to your table on your own but the staff is kid friendly, the bathrooms are clean, and like I said, the food is excellent!

  • Eric S.

Went once. This place took forever to open so we stopped by to order take-out. The service was fast, which was pleasantly nice, but when we got home, the food was cold. No bueno! Both dishes were good, but the fact that it was cold (and I don't mean warmish), was a big bummer. Gotta give them a second chance, though.

  • Alex K.

Although I prefer a restuarant that offers waiter service, this was a pleasant surprise in the quality of food. Good authentic Mexican food with a real casual atmosphere. I'll definitely return to try other dishes.

This is one of our family's favorite spots to eat Mexican food. My wife and I have tried just about every item on the menu and everything taste great. It has the look and feel of an upscale restraint with reasonable prices. If it is your first time try the 3 enchilada meal it has the best commination of flavor and freshness.

    (5)
  • R C.

Yikes. The chips were tasteless. The worst guacamole I have had in years. The food was very slow and by the time we received it had obviously been under a heat lamp for a while. Two stars for the friendly staff.

The food is absolutely delicious my husband and I had the fajitas you will not be disappointed and the margarita is a must try, we're definitely a fan.

My hubby apparently loves this place as it's close to his office but during lunch on a Friday, it was a nightmare to get there. That being said I've heard decent things. Our service was good and it wasn't crowded (sign?) and the menu options looked good (especially the professional photos). The descriptions reeled me in and I was looking forward to my chicken wet burrito slathered in queso and cilantro sauce. What I got? A bland "meh" burrito with no flavor and literally full of what Should have been tasty chicken, rice and black beans. There was no taste. One of the worst experiences at a Mexican joint I've ever had. I will avoid.

  • Jennifer S.

A co-worker & I decided we'd earned a margarita the day after National Tequila Day, so we stop in. I ordered a large traditional on ice and she ordered a pomegranate, frozen. Mine was so sugary, I could feel the headache I'd have the next morning. Hers was meh, and gave her an instant brain freeze. We'd wished we'd headed South on Binford 5 minutes to my regular spot where you can get a pitcher of better drinks for the same we'd spent on two. The manager came over and checked on us, but there was no redeeming these drinks. I guess we're going to have to keep looking for another post work location in the Fishers area that is non-smoking and serves decent cocktails.

Great food. Great prices. Authentic Mexican Food. My go to is "carnitas" which is pork. Delicious and just like grandma's. My husband enjoys the choripollo, which is chorizo (Mexican sausage) and chicken. Never had a bad dish here. The only place we both crave!

    (4)
  • Susan A.

The food was wonderful but the service sucked. Rude rube. I will not be back, no one tell my mother to wait a minute for a refill and you stand at check out watching the room.. I can go on but I will start using bad words.

  • Jason S.

I have been eating at the Red Habanero since it opened after following them from their fast food location over in Carmel and I don't think I've ever had a bad meal. The service is usually great and if there is one must for Mexican food lovers, get the salsa trio to eat with the chips over their house salsa.

    (4)

decent food. Loved the salsa and chips. I would eat there again prices were a little high for lunch specials but food was really good.

Having the berry margarita and the chicken burrito. Super job! Servers are so nice and the atmosphere is lively. Chips before meal are so good!!! Queso is creamy and Delicious.

  • Becca B.

"Meh. I've experienced better." is the perfect description of this place. Nothing was bad, but nothing was really good either. The chips were straight from the bag, but the salsa was alright. I ordered the "Wet Burrito" and it was definitely not worth $9. It was more tortilla than anything else & had mainly tomatoes and lettuce inside. It didn't really taste like anything. I had to pour on the Tapatio to get any sort of spice. The chicken that it did have was very good, though, very tender. My sister's side of beans were the blandest things I have ever tasted. That pretty much describes this whole place, bland.

Food and drinks were really good...service was...not so good. Saturday afternoon...2pm...3 waiters...2 just wondering around aimless and one running around trying to get the job done. Hard to blame him but things we ordered we missed...otherwise I would have given them 5 stars.

    (3)

It was good, solid option. For a strip mall establishment, provided a nice selection of options and price point seemed reasonable.

I've been here a few times and always have the same server he is very nice but there are a few things to iron out here: I am a hardcore fried chimichanga girl love them and take tried many different kinds but they put beans in there's BEANS!!!? The best part about a chimi is that buttery n flaky crust on the tortilla and the moist shredded chicken with a delicious portion of peppers which sadly they do not ad just beans and chicken, one thing that really pressed my buttons was the first time I came they knocked over my cup when the set down my plate and completely soaked my little sisters food in tea and proceeded to charge us for another meal! But on to the good why them deserve 4 stars. After having a not so great chimi I decided to try my own take and orders a side of grilled shrimp, lettuce, queso, tortillas and rice. I'm picky at times so I opted for a make my own kind of taco and for 8$ for rather large pieces of shrimp that come with 13 of those yummy boys I'm in heaven! There salsa is just so delicious and you can taste the fresh tomatoes in it and the queso is so mouth watering and that's coming from a lactose intolerant! Small forgivable mistakes when taking on this place but the great food and sweet staff really put it home for me!

Let me start by saying I LOVE mexican food. My family is mexican and I grew up down south so I am always a little disappointed in mexican food here in Indy. I don't know why but it never feels like 'home'. My boyfriend and I have talked about trying Red Habanero forever but never got around to it until today. I am so glad we finally tried it. He got the Chicken Mole Enchilada's. It was both of our first times trying Mole and I think this was the perfect place for us to try it. While it wasn't our favorite dish of the night it was still delicious. We also got the queso with chorizo and for only 5.99 they put a ton of chorizo in that dish. The best dish of the night was my steak fajitas. The steak was so tender and flavorful, I was amazed. The tortilla's tasted fresh and the guacamole was perfectly chunky. We even got a coupon for the next time we come in when we told our waiter it was our first time there. Overall I was very happy with our trip and can't wait to go again!!

This is 5* Mexican restaurant. Food is absolutely fantastics and service is very friendly. They serve some of the best cocktails.Their home made habanero and hot salsa/tomato Sauce are amazing.

I ordered a wet burrito and was disappointed, no flavor. Presentation was nice, red, white & green. The salsa was like tomatoe sauce with a hint of spice.

I am new to Indy and during one of our house hunting weekends here, the hubby and I decided to eat at this place for lunch. Chips & Salsa - was OK not the best I have had Food - was below average I have had better Mexican and better tex-mex (not quite sure what they are) I thought it was expensive for a fast food type place. I got a veggie burrito with no sour cream. I took one bite of my burrito and it had sour cream in it. The server did not apologize but the manager decided to not charge us for it (hence the extra star) Bathrooms - FILTHY! I am not really interested in going back to this place...

Great service with the best Mexican food we have found in Indiana so far. Various salsas were very good with distinctive flavours. I like hot salsas and their three hot salsas were good.

If you want authentic Mexican food, you can't beat "Red Hab" in Carmel. We have been regulars at Red Hab since it opened, and even though we moved to the other side of Carmel we take every opportunity to visit here. I recommend the Jalapeno Lime Burrito and the Wet Burrito, they will set you on fire and you can cool it down with a cold Corona Light. Their Fiesta Nachos are a meal if that's what you crave. No one grills their chicken like these guys. Great counter service and reasonable prices, a nice salsa bar, and some great upbeat music round out the place. You want to patronize local businesses, start with your next dinner.

I would put Red Habanero is somewhere between Q'Doba and Adobo Grill. There ingredients are better than Q'Doba but it doesn't have the same full service restaurant atmosphere as Adobo. It's a good choice when you want some solid Mexican food at a slightly higher price point (compared to Doba/Chipotle) that's more refined than your run-of-the-mill Mexican joint. The food was the highlight, which it should be. The steak fajitas actually look like a well cooked steak sliced into strips as opposed to a bag of meat strips that was thrown on a flat grill. The veggies were fresh, crisp, and not soaked in grease. The salsa was flavorful without knocking you out with pure heat. Overall, I think this was more refined and fresh than 90% of the Mexican restaurants in Indy. I originally thought this was a large chain restaurant that just made it to Indy, but apparently it's a family owned establishment based out of Indianapolis. The service was decent, although it could have been a little quicker given the number of patrons in the restaurant. Overall, I recommend checking this place out (date, family, or friends) - it definitely made it's way on our regular rotation and is a refreshing update to your standard Mexican restaurant.

  • Celeste M.

This place definitely caters to a younger hipper audience with their decor, tvs and music. Plus they have a huge bar with lots of specials. I had a veggie chimichanga and it was pretty good. Husband had the chicken fajitas and loved them. At first I wasn't very impressed with this restaurant because I'm used to more authentic Mexican places, but after trying several other Mexican places around the north side of Indy, I think this place probably does the best Mexican food. Plus their service is very friendly instead of cold and awkward.

  • Kim H.

  • George N.

My 12 yo son & I went here for lunch, due to high Yelp reviews. Ordered salsa sampler, which was a well spent dollar. Very tasty, especially the lime tomatillo. We both got shredded beef tacos for lunch. Not overly flavorful, beef was a little tough.

  • L Boogie N.

Good Mexican food is a rarity in the Indianapolis area. Red habenero helps fill the void. They have an impressive drink menu, and I highly recommend the organic margarita. It's made with lime juice and agave nectar rather than the sweet and sour mix you find at most restaurants. The chicken dishes use grilled chicken, rather than shredded, another bonus in my book!

  • Tanveer S.

BEST. BURRITO. IN. INDY. Amazing on every level when it comes to Mexican. I live in Scottsdale, AZ and it would be on par with some of the heavy hitters out here. So for Indy this is killer spot. And the owners are super cool and personable.

  • Hannah F.

Decided to give Red Habanero Grill a try since I work right next to it. First, I had to get menus for us since they wouldn't bring menus to us. Second, they wouldn't let us use our coupon for $5 off a purchase of $25 of more because I had a margarita that was on special. I told them that I know coupons aren't valid on drinks, but that I had a FOOD purchase of more than $25 so I should be able to use the coupon. They just kept arguing with me. Then they wouldn't give us a bag for our leftover chips and a cup for our leftover salsa. They said they would have to charge us for an order of chips or salsa if we got take home containers for our leftover chips and salsa. Wtf??? You're gonna throw it away anyways. Why not let us take it home so the food doesn't go to waste?!?!? The food was mediocre at best and the service was horrendous!!! Needless to say, we will never be going back. Friaco's is a MILLION times better!!!!

  • Wendy K.

This has become my fav go to place for Mexican food. When you order something with chicken, you can see that it is a chicken breast cut up - no fatty, weird looking meat here! Everything is so fresh. Service is fast and friendly, too. Try it -- I promise you you'll go back again and again! PS - Try the Enchiladas Suizas Verde or the Choripollo!

    (5)
  • Andrew C.

Tried the Enchiladas Suizas. It was ok, the chicken was high quality, but there was not a lot of flavor. The chips and salsa were great. Bottom line, if Americanizned dreck is your preferred style of Mexican food, you'll love this place. Otherwise, it is firmly in the "meh" category.

    (2)
  • Meg M.

This is a solid option if you are in the mood for Mexican food. Their chips and salsa are quite tasty and I've been happy with everything I ordered here the handful of times I've been. I will definitely be back. They are always busy, but there's usually no wait. The decor is nice, not at all over the top or cheesy like many Mexican places. I've had their strawberry and peach frozen margaritas, which are good. My only complaint is that they use a ton of food coloring in their strawberry one.

    (4)
  • Lori S.

Average food. Service comparable to counter service. Don't expect waiters / management to cater to your needs. Ordered one chicken, one cheese&onion enchilada. was served 2 cheese. Waiter / manager did nothing to correct order ... said order was written as 2 cheese (customers mistake!) Restaurant not crowded on a friday night at prime time? plenty of other mexican restaurants that have better food and more customer oriented

    (2)
  • Ali A.

I love me some spicy salsa and thanks to the yelpers they brought me here. I didn't get to explore other Indianapolis Mexican Restaurants but I didn't really need to. I don't know if this is a chain or not but the all around service and food was excellent. I loved their habanero salsa, very very spicy. I feel like it is just a courtesy for me to order tacos because I feel so bad for eating all of their salsa.

This is the 2nd Red Habanero on East 96th street. This one is East of I-69, near Wal-Mart. Same name, but the setup is completely different than the other Red Habanero that is located between Keystone and Allisonville. This one is a sit-down place with waiter service. If you were at the one where you ordered at the counter, then you were at the OTHER Red Habanero, yelp.com/biz/red-habaner… This restaurant is aimed at a gringo clientele. I'm thinking it is comparable to a Qdoba. Ambience and menu reflect the slightly more upscale northside/Fishers area. Decent size portions that were filling. This may be the start of a local chain, a la El Rodeo. But the decor gives this place the look-and-feel of a corporate chain, a little slick and shiny. Ambience/decor is definitely higher than El Rodeo. My dining companion and I liked our food. Large portions. They have free Wi-Fi. Ask for password.

New to the Fishers area...and all about trying new places. Amazing service, AMAZING drinks, food took no time at all and was excellent. Would recommend this place to anyone.

I really like the concept of the place - it has a little more upscale feel to it than most Mexican restaurants in the area. They also have a few different things on their menu, such as items with chorizo. I love chorizo, and ordered the chorizo burrito, but I wish I could've tasted it. They way overdid the paprika, but it was still good. We weren't big fans of the chips, they really had no flavor. The steak fajitas were decent and definitely not the best around. While we were waiting for our food, there was a magician who came around the tables. I thought it was strange at first, but he was pretty good and it was neat to be entertained while we were waiting. The kids in the restaurant really enjoyed it. Overall, I would rate this restaurant in the middle for quality of food compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area and give them props for the decor/ambiance.....and for having a magician!

Our first time is our last time. Worst margaritas we've had anywhere. What Mexican restaurant can't make a good margarita?? Each of our meals was boring and unauthentic. My burrito came wrapped in a piece of foil served on a plate (felt like I had hit a drive thru). No sides...just one chicken burrito for $9.99. When we tried to use our $3 off $15 coupon we were told we couldn't use it. Really? After spending almost $50 on three regular margaritas and two entrees (no appetizers and no desserts and yes it cost that much). Extremely overpriced, poor service, boring food.

The steak quesadilla is excellent. I really like the marinade on the steak, definitely very flavorful. It is served with fresh tortilla chips and salsa, and guacamole, sour cream and shredded lettuce on the side. The guacamole is not even close to as good as what you'd get at Adobo Grill, but keep in mind that the entire meal here costs about as much as the guacamole at Adobo. Service is very fast and friendly. I will definitely be back.

After spending 10 years in South Texas, it's been a 2-year mission to try to find good Mexican food in Indy. This was another attempt at a place others have liked and another fail. Extra salty guac, store bought tortillas, average at best flavored food ... typical of a chain, although I don't think they are. Environment was good if you like a loud, bar-like place to eat.

Suppose you were a space alien and had just heard of Mexican food, perhaps seen photos or read a description on Wikipedia. Excitedly, you input all this data into the emulator and poof, out comes a fine looking Mexican dinner. This is about how Red Habanero seemed to me yesterday. The colors are right--the sauces are red and green. Even quality ingredients seem to be used. The problem is that the food just doesn't taste anything like Mexican food. Case in point: enchiladas made with flour tortillas and without any enchilada sauce or spices, just some red sauce thrown over the top. The guacamole was nice and green, but was just creamed avocado with no flavor or punch. Back in the day, when there was only El Sol and Chi-Chi's in Indy, Red Habanero might have been welcome. Now, with a plethora of authentic and semi-authentic Mexican restaurants all over town, I can't see any reason to go here. Chipotle is very close by and you'll get better food for less $.

Maybe it was the LA Dodger cap I donned. Maybe it was the long drive. Maybe it was the 4.5 star rating. I'm not so sure why my expectations were high, but they were -- and they were left unfulfilled. Oh, I know what it really was... it was that you had shrimp on the menu, in both fajita & 'dilla form, yet you wouldn't allow a shrimp burrito (which was culled from my memory of great shrimp burritos in LA), or even a fajita-style burrito (which is on the menu for steak & chicken) with shrimp. Strange. Is it a just a peeve I have or is it odd to have an offering but not have it across the board available? Then, I ordered the fajita-style steak burrito, and I stepped back to check-in on my handy Yelp app, then realized there was no fajita sizzle. Where's the grill sizzle? Where're the onions and peppers and steak and cheese sizzling? Wait, what... you cooked the steak long ago? Hmmm... that's not very fajita style -- especially since there isn't cooked peppers and onions. I could've done this at home for $2. Instead I'm paying $7. I dunno... let me get tweenie on ya & just say... this is bunk. Triple Bunk Bed Bunk. Although... the verde saved the day, like most meals. Then, the (triple XXX?) tomatillo salsa, too, saved the day. As did the cheap mexican beer. I don't give you much street cred for that though. This place loses in a burrito donneybrook big time to the more authentic, fresh places 'round town.

The Red Habanero in Fishers on 96th St. is wonderful. Our server, Lucy, greated us at the door and seated us immediately. Our visit was on a Tuesday evening around 8 pm, so the place was mostly empty. This can lead to poor service as everyone is ready to head home. Not so here. Lucy took our drink orders and was back in a flash. My dining companion is very sensative to spicy food. When she made an inquiry to the level of heat, Lucy brought her the meats in question (just a bite) so that she could assess for herself their suitability. I ordered the Cylantro Cream Chicken Enchiladas, my companion the Shredded Beef Chimichanga. Both meals were served with rice and black beans. We were not even through with half of our small cup of Con Queso (delish) when out food arrived. Piping hot, very fresh and beautifully presented, our meals were wonderful. Everything was flavorful, not bland, but not so spicy that you couldn't taste it. Lucy kept checking on us (not annoyingly) and our drink glasses were never empty. We did not feel rushed and we had a lovely conversation along with our dinner as the traditional Mexican music was not at all too loud. When the dessert menu was presented, we couldn't help ourselves. We asked for the chocolate nachos, but with the carmel sauce as well. Lucy said no problem and had them to us, just as we had requested them, pdq. Again, delish! I dine out frequently both at lunch and dinner time. I enjoy fine dining on a regular basis. Red Habanero IS NOT fine dining. IT IS a cute little family style cantina in a strip mall. With that realistic expection going in, I was thrilled. I have found a new spot that I will frequent on my trips back to Indy. I will encourage family and friends to dine there as well. It was an all around wonderful experience. Q-doba pricing with a far more extensive menu and a more upscale ambience. We were just there last night, but I could go back again tonight without hesitation. I hope that you enjoy Red Habanero in Fishers.

As others have noted there are two locations for this restaurant and both have very different decor but the food is all very good. this is a local chain and the food actually has flavor not just heat (or the lack of) that a lot of the local places use to mask flavor. Chili colorado and chili verde were both very flavorful and fresh. Fajitas are very good and would recommend along with their very large tequila selection.

Ate here yesterday for lunch with the roommate and boyfriend... Let me preface this by saying I am a spicy, Mexican food fan! This was slightly above q-doba level as far as burritos are concerned, Prices were decent at about $10 per person, but the Nachos my roommate ordered were awesome! Queso blanco was the perfect level of spice and they offered a huge selection of spicy salsas, rated from mild to 4X. I am a 4X girl myself (in sooooo many ways) but I have to say it was pretty good for a knock of Qdoba.

I've wanted to try this for a couple months, since its right down the street from me. So far we've only done carry out. The fajitas are excellent--the first time we did the combo fajitas (shrimp/chicken/beef), and the second time just the chicken fajitas. It is nice because instead of just scooping up some chopped mystery chicken from a carton like some places do, they actually take a giant chicken breast off the grill and slice it in front of you. The other two things we've tried are the chicken chimichangas and the cilantro cream sauce enchiladas. For whatever reason, I didn't really like the chimichanga. I'm used to them fried or grilled, and this was neither, so it really was just like a burrito with sliced chicken inside. The cilantro cream enchiladas were excellent. I'm not a big fan of cilantro, but decided to go for it. Over the enchiladas, they put first a cheese sauce, then the cilantro sauce, and then sprinkle chopped cilantro on top. The sauces were excellent, it added a little flavor kick to the entree, but didn't overpower it. Moreover, it wasn't TOO STRONG. I'd definitely get it again, probably without the chopped cilantro on top (I think that is the strongest part and was a bit too much for me) Most of the dishes come with a side of rice and beans (choice of pinto or refried). They have drinks ranging from fountain drinks, bottle drinks, real mexican sodas, to beer, margaritas, and tequila shots. It isn't mexican-mexican, but it isn't american-american-mexican. Its a good mix. It is fast, but not "fast food", it appears completely homemade. Very accommodating, make it right in front of you. Good stuff!

Really enjoy this place. It's not your typical mexican fare, a bit of an upscale twist to it. The avocado salad is fresh, and the creamy cilantro dressing is unlike anything else I've had before. The chips and salsa that come out are delicious as well. We go here often.

Nice. Pollo a la crema One of the best Mexican food I had. Been to Indianapolis and my friend referred this. We ordered about 5 dishes and we liked all of them.

I like the burritos here better than the other chain (chipotle, moes, qdoba). It's never crowded when I've been here either which confuses me, but the food is what I come, and will continue coming back for.

In my opinion there really is nothing better than a small, family-run, authentic mexican food restaurant. There's something about this place that just hits the spot every single time no matter what I order. The burritos blow away any of the other corporate burrito places nearby (Chipotle, Q-Doba) and cost the same to boot. With every order comes a complimentary serving of chips and a trip to their home-made salsa bar. The people behind the counter are the owners and employees of the place, two brothers an what seems to be their mother, always working super hard and getting the food out to order in a timely manner even if the place is packed at lunch - which it always is. It's great to see the same smiling face every time you go in the place and it makes you wanna come back because you know these people are working their ass off to make sure you enjoy your meal. Try the nacho burrito or the Asada burrito if it's your first time. They're both great choices and you won't be dissapointed.

As a transplant from Austin, Tx., my husband is VERY picky about his Mexican food. That being said, we LOVE this place! The decor is bright and cheerful. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is amazing! The salsa is home made & very flavorful. We shared steak fajitas for lunch today and would definitely recommend them. I also love their shredded beef chimichanga! Everything we have had here is delicious and easy on the budget.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
