This place is a diamond in the rough! The service is friendly and attentive. The decor classy, but casual. There is a beautiful large fish tank in the center of the main dining area with colorful fish like "Nemo". We ordered the crab cakes and filet medallions with Caesar Salad along with the seasonal tempura battered asparagus. This was absolutely delicious with two dipping sauces: homemade mustard and ranch. Next they brought our salads. The Caesar dressing was perfect! Their signature teacup bread is fresh and homemade. It comes with this cinnamon butter that is "too die for"! Amazing!! Our meals came.... Everything was good, except they over cooked my steak to well done when I asked for medium. They offered to re-cook it, however I was hungry and didn't want to wait. It was dry but the dipping sauce made up for it. They offered a free dessert for the mistake (so I'll keep the review at 5 stars, as no one is perfect). We went with the bread pudding. It was excellent!! Overall, I highly recommend Pipers!

This place was very empty at lunch. It was a pretty straight forward mall restaurant. Nice waitress for standard restaurant. Good family style garden salad. However, the place thinks higher of itself. Just gave the impression that my mom was trying to impress visitors but not the actual way the family was. Bread served in a bowl was nice and warm. Whipped butter very cinnamony. Good unique taste. I had the honey roasted pecan chicken. I liked it. We had a very late lunch and they were in too much of a hurry to get us out. The rice and carrots were also good. Can't go wrong going here.

This was our second visit to Piper's, the first time was over a year+ ago. I was hoping this visit would change my original opinion, but sadly, it did not. I will echo other reviews in that I'm not sure why this place garners such good reviews. The service is good, the place is clean enough and the staff is friendly. However, it's a restaurant. The food should be better and the price should reflect the quality of the food. The food isn't bad per se, it's just not good. And for not good food, the prices are outrageous. $100 for chuck roast, frozen fish and pork loaf? Seemingly the draw here is the bread and butter, in which case, I think I'll pass.

Guilty as charged: I need to make my way to the south side more often. What a delightful surprise Pipers was for a Savor the Southside feast (and a really good deal at that! $25 for two people: salads for each, three shared plates and a dessert!). Let's tell this story chronologically, shall we? I'd probably blow past this place a dozen times before ever taking notice of it - not that it's unattractive, more that it's camouflaged with its beige surroundings. The inside has a lot of potential - high ceilings, a fairly spacious bar and fish aquariums (I would typically say ick to the aquariums, but for some reason I really enjoyed it in this setting). There definitely seems to be an older crowd here, but the menu is one that leaves room for a younger crowd. My fellow diners, who currently live on the south side, informed me that Pipers has been making efforts to reach out to the younger demographic. Drinks: They hand stuff their olives with bleu cheese AND it tastes incredible paired with a Bloody Maria (Bloody Mary with tequila - thanks, Peter P ;) I'd go back for the olives alone. First course: Will's Salad - a Thai-like chopped salad with slivered almonds, red peppers, crunchy ramen noodles and a delicious made in-house dressing. This would make for a great full order to go at lunch time! I think it was the crunch that did me in. Shared plates/entrees: When preparing for this dinner, I was thrilled to see fried green tomatoes on the menu - and not just any old fried green tomatoes, these uns were sliders spread with pimento cheese. Delicious! (However, it wouldn't have hurt to add some arugula, herbs or other green to help juice it up a bit more). My second shared plate was the pork tenderloin sliders with red onions and bleu cheese. The meat was a bit on the dry side, but paired with the cheese it made for a great flavor combo. Dessert: When chowing down with a big group - what better way to sample the dessert scene than by ordering one of each of the five options? Bread pudding, banana pudding pie, creme brulee, chocolate cake and a ice cream rolled in walnuts with a fudge coating. I'd probably give the creme brulee the blue ribbon. The sugar crusted top was perfection! Lastly, the service of the evening was great. I'm sure it was difficult to keep up with our 10 person table. Thank you for showing me what's up on the south side, Pipers!

Pipers is the best American cuisine around the Indianapolis area. We have eaten here in the restaurant dining room as well as in the medium sized hall they have, that can be rented for events. Service is great. The best description I can think of for the food is home cooking taken up a notch to be just a little adventurous and unique. Be sure to leave room for dessert if you can - it is often seasonal. Recently in the fall we had Apple cobbler.

This restaurant is a Gem, we've been going every year for the seafood celebration. The menu for this event 4-6 weeks changes every year. The food and service are great. We even have been in for their 2 for $25 special as well. It's just is so evident that the Chef owns the restaurant because the little things like the tea cup rolls you see the attention to detail. The made from scratch dressings for salads, the preparation of the vegetables are the best. Honestly I'm not a vegetarian and no where near close to eating enough veggies but if you wanting to eat at a upscale restaurant and lose weight no question this place is the best. After you slim down come back for the steak and desserts....

I was attracted to the menu and Yelp rating so we tried this place. There's not much around this area. It reminds me of a place I'd find in Florida filled with retired folks. It's dated inside and the food lacks some seasoning. You could have a bad meal like my wife did (they took it off the check) or an ok meal as I did but I doubt you could have a meal that would deserve its current rating. I had grouper Provençal with new potatoes and a vegetable medley. The fish was cooked perfectly as were the vegetables. Good. They have cheap salt and pepper on the table but they should use fresh ground pepper in the kitchen and sea salt on the food. I started with a overdressed caesar. Good otherwise but not worth the $2 up charge over a house. Would have been better with some freshly ground pepper.
