Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Typical hole in the wall place. We swung by with a few friends a couple weeks back. Unsure what to expect, we sat ourselves and were greeted a few minutes later. The waiter was friendly but seemed a bit overwelmed with too many tables and too much going on. They have a good selection of bottled beer available. We got some loaded fries as an appetizer. They weren't anything special.. just some fries with nacho cheese, bacon and something else smothered all around. My wife and I split a bbq chicken pizza. It just wasn't my flavor. It was cooked well and seemed well prepared, but it was lacking something to me. I don't know what it was, but it just didn't hit the spot. They have an outdoor area in the back and I'm sure we will give it another shot this summer. They have a decent variety of food.

The Ordinary is pretty good! The toppings are plentiful. The restaurant is kind of cramped, so this restaurant is better for carryout. I wish they delivered.

Absolutely love the all meat pizza. Its so loaded and so yummy. Service is always amazing!

First time customer. Came here on a Saturday and the place was packed and I was not sure what to do. Found a sign to place name on waitlist but I was not sure how long it would be. After standing around for 10 minutes decided to place to go order. I ordered and young girl told me it would be 45 minutes so I told her that we will go ahead and keep order but will go ahead and eat here. She told us she had to cancel our order and I said fine but she seemed upset that we changed our mind??? After about another 10 minutes they sat us and the waitress took our order. I still had not received my money that I paid for our canceled order so I went back to counter to talk with young girl and was greeted with an attitude. Her first response was "and?" which I reminded her about my original order and she insisted I did not pay. I pulled the change frim my pocket to show what I received. After a huff and a puff she returned my money. This place would have received 4 stars for food/atmosphere. Our waitress was super and apologetic for her co-worker so she received a $20 tip on a $40 order!

So...we took a coworker here for a going away lunch. (one of many going-aways celebrated here) I heard the Pizza was great, bit I opted for the Chicken Philly instead...with onion rings and bread pudding for desert. Excellent! ALL of it!! NBO is an out of the way spot, which is cool. Go early for lunch, around 11-11:30!

This place is pretty darn good. It's a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, which probably makes it all the better. They have great pizza, a salad/soup bar (which is personally my favorite thing about the place), and great pork tenderloin sandwiches. The staff is ultra friendly and the prices are low! It is a great place for lunch, and I'm sure the bar is hopping with regulars in the evening. If you like good Indiana cooking, you'll love this place.

It's not often I come home to Indiana for the Sunshine State, but when I do, I gather my brothers my father and my sis in law and her kids and we make our trip to the ordinary. I ordered two of the family specials, and some waffle fries, and of course the bread sticks, top notch service. And although I tripped over the side by the front door, I make sure everybody in the place had a good laugh. Don't forget about the take and bake, yes, I ordered the large deluxe uncooked, & I taking it back to Florida with me.

Pretty good food and friendly service. With the restaurant being older, it could definitely use some updates....especially the bathroom. The tables are very close together also. All in all my few experiences have not been bad and I will continue to return. I do hope they continue to improve and do more to keep attracting customers.

The 3 stars I gave is an average here.... The food is a 5. Impeccable. Always on point and full of flavor. It's hard pressed to find another pizza better than the ordinary. If you venture through the menu... The tenderloins are phenomenal, and the fried chicken is delicious. Amazing, well seasoned and topped burgers. The service, however, is a 1. It always seems like the servers are taking too many tables. This has been a progressive slide. About a year or so ago... Service was awesome. Personable and efficient. Now, it just seems like servers are there just to say they have a job. It seems like there may have been a management switch.... But I honestly don't know. More often than not, it takes 5+ minutes just to get recognized and get drinks. We have actually walked out because we sat down and were never greeted.... As 3 servers at one point all looked at us and never attempted to serve us. I hope this finds its way to someone in charge at The Ordinary and it's taken to heart. I manage a restaurant and understand staffing struggles. We love the food and will continue to dine there.

Great blue cheese dressing and a good salid. Good service, excellent pizza and libation. I recommend this restaurant. It does have a limited menu. After eating good food that not a problem. Yum

I was recently able to visit this place, and the pizza was pretty damn good. The toppings were plentiful, the pie was cooked through... Breadsticks were good, wings were sound. Cheese dip was solid, and didn't quickly congeal into something people would show me on the walls of my arteries... I greatly appreciate that. Went with a few friends, nice friendly dining outing. If I were to complain a little, it would be the fact that I felt like each table around me was a part of my conversation, and even a few folks (one adult, one child) kept bumping their seat into mine. I have no problem with children dining out... It's a family place for shits sake. My only problem was the tables were so close together... The kid wasn't acting out, his seat at his table happened to be claiming real estate where my chair, seated at my table was. I'm not giant, but at six foot I need a little room. The service (not the time to deliver the pie) could have been a little quicker, and slightly more attentive. I'd much rather have a carry out meal from here than eat in. While we waited for a table I felt like I was in everyone's way entering the establishment. I'll eat here again definitely, just hopefully not in prime time.

A family member spotted a live mouse while dining there. I looked up their health inspections and they revealed roaches and rodents. The last one had a dead mouse caught on a glue board and not removed. Kinda yucky!!

I can't believe that I'm going to admit that I had never been to The Ordinary and I grew up in Indiana about 15 minutes away from it! (yikes) We opted to get pizza of course and decided to play it safe with pepperoni. This pizza was amazing and unlike anything I'd ever had! The sauce was incredible and there was a thick layer of pepperoni that was topped with cheese. Thats right, the cheese was ON TOP. The service was pretty good. A lot of young waitresses who a tad bit slow but they were very friendly. The place was packed and there were a lot of people coming in and out to get pizza's to-go. I will definitely be back and I can't believe it took me so long to go here.

I'm in love with their pizza. It's a thin crust with a generous amount of toppings. Had pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, black olive, green pepper, and onion with lots of good 'ol cheese. Sun King Cream Ale on tap makes it even better. We sat on the bar side, and the guy handling the whole area did a fantastic job staying on top of the full house. If you've never been there, this is an old school small town pub/tavern style place. No frills, cozy-tables real close, old type of place in Wanamaker. That's way southeast side! But how far is too far for what is probably one of the best pizzas in Indianapolis and the surrounding area-maybe even the state.

I live off of 79th and Harcourt Rd (by St Vincent Hospital) and New Bethel Ordinary is well worth the 45 min drive in rush hour traffic to satisfy the craving. Not only is it worth the craving it is well worth the price. They are not stingy with any of the portions or toppings, I think the thinnest thing about their pizzas are the boxes. I love the fact that even with 2 teenagers it can last past one meal. The establishment itsself is roomy, bright, and clean. 5 stars from me all the way!
(5)Mike S.
Pizza was ok. The place is a little local restaurant that appears to have some small town charm. Service was a bit off, but all the help seemed to be teenage girls ( they couldn't bring out beers). We tried the loaded waffle fries and found they were nothing more than what I could have made at home. I would have used liquid cheese and more of it. No seasoning or anything to make it different. We got a half cheese and half sausage pizza. It comes with tons of cheese. Couldn't imaging what extra cheese might look like. We saw a couple table that got the meat lovers and that looks like special worth trying. Maybe next time. Menu was large and had lots of items. We'll be back to try some other things.

I usually prefer my pizza either cracker-thin crust or Chicago stuffed, yet this somewhere in between style from NBO was very good. The crust is pretty thin yet somehow manages to stay crispy underneath mounds of cheese and toppings. Everything tasted fresh. The service was great. The onion rings blew my mind. Too bad they're so far away, otherwise I'd be a regular. If you're in the area, check it out.

Love the Ordinary. There's a hump in the floor in the middle of the dining area. The bathrooms are so small you have to walk outside to change your mind. The sink to wash your hands is in the between. You will be noticed if you don't wash your hands. Some of the food fare is frozen and reheated (fried chicken). The pork tenderloin is fairly tasty. The pizza is the best bet. Good crust and full of tasty toppings. A bar sits on the other side of the dining area. It's small with 3-4 tables a couple of booths and 5 seats at the bar with 3 tv's. I swear the bar area is only 14 x 12 but feels bigger. You know everyone personally before you leave. Really, you can hear all the conversations. No draft beer, but plenty of specialty and microbrews.

This cute, little place in this cute, little town has been on my To Try list for a long time. The pizza has always looked to be the garbage pizza that dreams are made of. The restaurant is cozy, filled with locals. The menu is, of course, super basic. Burgers, tenderloins, manhattans, pizza. The pizza was pretty intense. A TON of toppings. It is deep dish with minimal crust. It is all the good stuff. Now, the ingredients and flavors are not mind blowing. They are not bad, they are not mediocre. They are quite good. And when you put as much "quite good" stuff as they do on a pizza, it becomes great. One slice is really all it takes. Though, I am a glutton, so two gets me to the border of a food coma.
(4)Brittany C.
I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered the Loaded Fries minus the bacon while two people I was with ordered the BBQ Chicken pizza. The cheese on the waffle fries was just melted shredded cheese and pretty gross. The BBQ Chicken pizza was covered in huge chunks of raw onions and it was impossible to actually taste the BBQ sauce as there was so little of it. Very expensive too! Fries, pizza and 3 beers was $40+! Never going back.

The Ordinary is a classic for many of us who have grown up on the southside near the town of Wannamaker. Known for their extremely large and greasy pizzas, it is extremely difficult to walk away from the table hungery! My personal favorite is the meatlovers deluxe; a think pie topped with more meat than you can shake a stick at, coated in cheese, and severed atop a thin crust. This bad boy will have you crying uncle! The Ordinary does not boast local meats, hand-made crust, or rock out to a modern interior. What this place posses however is a certain type of old school, small town charm that you cannot help but smile over. Now these folks do not offered delivery, but they certainly offer a pick-up service should you choose to enjoy your pie in the comfort of your own home over their small dinning hall. Should you find yourself craving a pizza pie pilled high with mountains of toppings and dripping in cheese, give the Ordinary a shot!!

Our friends suggested we meet here for dinner. We are Northsiders so we don't trickle down much past Castleton. I am glad we did! I love pizza a much as pretty much anyone and this pizza was worthy of the amount of gas it took to get there! Abundant toppings with just the right amount of sauce and a slightly sweet crust in a huge piece. I could only eat one! I did have a breadstick though first. Loved the small town, quaint feel of the place. The restroom was a pretty tight squeeze, but it is a super old building. Would definitely go again!

I first discovered NBO from some co-workers. They raved about the pizza, which it seems everyone else does too. We ordered pizza one day for lunch at work and I've been a fan ever since. They definitely aren't stingy on the toppings. One slice filled me up! It's definitely worth the price.
(4)Brad W.
Neat place, great atmosphere. Would like to try the pizza. They had a good microbrew selection, lots of local Indiana brews too. Will definitely go back!

The New Bethel Ordinary takes the best elements of every small town diner you have ever visited and squeezes them into one great place to eat. Everything from the outside to the cramped inside table seating is a little touch of hometown magic. The place always seems to be packed and the same staff always seems to be working so you are sure to see a friendly and familiar face on each visit. The interior is also clean and inviting, complete with a big screen for catching the races on Sunday. The food is also home town diner at its best. The burgers are fantastic and if you order bacon on them you will find that its real fried thick cuts of bacon that they cooked especially for your burger. The salads are even much realized and fresh which is rare in a diner setting. The potato skins and chicken wings are fantastic appetizers and I highly recommend both. The star of the NBO however, is the fresh cooked, topping stacked, knife and fork pizza. It might be the best pizza I know of outside New York. The toppings are laid thick with just the right amount of cheese and tomatoes sauce. The 10 inch pizza itself if a meal for 1 with some left over for 2AM. I have tried mushrooms, bacon, pepperoni, and sausage; all of those toppings have been absolutely fantastic. Bottom Line: The New Bethel Ordinary is a small town diner with BIG flavors. It is not only the best small town diner I have eaten at, it stands out as one of the best diner experiences in Indy, and any fan of good pizza should mark it as a "must try".

Yep, I'm definitely a fan! My kids' daycare center actually has its food catered from NBO! Last year, I ate lunch with the kids and enjoyed a great lunch (mash potatoes and gravy, roast beef) all very yummie! My five year is a big fan of their tacos (which is a speciality; not available at all times). Last week my sorority member purchased one of their pizzas for a meeting! It was so awesome! Full of cheese and meat - it was better than any pizza I've had in a while! And, it was so affordable! One piece filled me up. It was about $15 for the pizza. After all of that, we decided to eat dinner there last night. It had a Mel's diner sort of feel complete with the locals and the fact you have to ask for a menu (because all the regulars already know it by heart). I think it just added to the charm. We ordered a kids corn dog meal, a kids sphaghetti meal and a fried chicken dinner and a fried catfish dinner. The mash potatoes and gravy were awesome! Fried chicked fried to perfection. Great home cooked meals! And, they do deliver pizzas to the surrounding areas.

Very good pizza. Service was very good. I would go back with out a doubt second time going and both excellent.

Even though the Ordinary offers an array of sandwiches and other small-town diner fare, I've only had their pizza. That's what the place is known for, and why I recommend you go here. I'm from a middle-of-nowhere Indiana town, and even though Wanamaker is just outside of Indy, it feels like it could be sandwiched in between a couple of cornfields in BFE. NBO is filled with locals and you might feel a little bit odd walking into this close-knit group of diners. Don't worry, you'll fit in and be glad you came - the pizza is delicious. I can't really say there is anything extraordinary about the ingredients or the method of making it, but it's just good, homemade pizza. There are no gourmet toppings, so don't drive out to Wanamaker if you are looking for another Bazbeaux. It's just your basic sausage-pepperoni-green pepper-onion-olive-etc selection. I've been with a vegetarian friend, and we both left full and pleased. The dining room tends to be really crowded, and there are way too many tables squeezed into the place, so you might want to see if the seating situation is more accommodating in the bar side when you go. Another tip - the service tends to be hit or miss, so be forewarned. Either way, you'll get good pizza at a fair price.
(4)Daniel S.
Like 10 REAL microbrew bottles. Not bad at all for Wanamaker!
(4)Scott J.
Good, simple, homemade pizza with an abundance of cheese. Heavy on local patrons - kinda feels like you're eating in someone's living room. This place is a great call if you're looking for pizza.
(4)Tara B.
Brains!! Where else can you go and see brains on the menu? Brain sandwiches and brains and eggs are the two most popular cow brain dishes. I've never had the brains, but how cool is it that it's on the menu? The turkey manhattan is so wholesome and delicious, you'll think they have your grandma chained in the kitchen. The pizza and milkshakes are divine and my primary fare when eating here. It is primarily a local place, and even though I grew up less than a block from this delicious dive, I still feel like an outsider. The prices are just right though, and before you know it you feel at home.
(4)debra l.
I went there with my family last Thursday evening and was not impressed. It took FOREVER to get our food and no apologies from the wait staff whatsoever. Food wasn't all that great either - I won't be going back.
(1)Eric N.
NBO is the CHEERS of Wanamaker. It's a place you earn. And it has a nice bi-polarity to it. On the left is the bar, and it is COZY. On the right you'll find the dining room, where families crowd around the pot-belly stove. Chris and Matt will make sure you get the drink you want, and the food just the way you like it! Great pizza, tremendous beer selection, and tons of surprises on the quaint, but diverse menu!
(4)Danielle B.
I'm not typically a pizza fan, but I do like NBO's pizza! The crust is delicious...they are very generous with their toppings. The restaurant can be difficult to maneuver because it's small and cluttered with tables and chairs...and always busy. It's "the pizza" we order when we have friends over.
(4)Bradley H.
If you are anywhere near Wanamaker, Indiana, you simply have to stop by this local watering hole. Though recently somewhat face lifted, it still retains that farm town biker bar vibe... complete with photo-posters of the local high school athletic clubs. But the hog riders here won't rough you up... they've probably just shown up for the karaoke. The pizzas are great, but if you feel so moo-ved (heh, heh) try the cow brain sandwich. Personally, I always loved the milkshakes and malts. The chili will remind you of your old school cafeteria, but in a great way. Just ask, and they'll even add spaghetti noodles.
(3)Willis M.
I've eaten at NBO many times the past 25 yrs but not so much lately since breakfast no longer is served during the week. But a friend insisted I get by soon and try their freshly cut breaded tenderloin sandwich. Obviously the tenderloin is an Indiana staple and served in nearly every restaurant in the city. But few do it right. The tenderloin at NBO I must say is by far the best I've eaten in a long, long time. Thick, fresh cut, lightly breaded and fried golden. The was one awesome sandwich and I plan on going back real, real soon.
(3)Tim C.
They've been known for their pizza but average at best....quality has went downhill since it has been sold several times now.....salad bar is ok and other food items are good.....most are return neighborhood folks....worth a try if you don't have other plans
(3)Brooke H.
Rude service every time we have ordered and took almost as long to get an order in as it did for it to be delivered. The big toppings ordeal has always been lacking from the pizzas we have ordered and crust is wretched. Must have to know someone to get the food and service that made me try NBO when I first moved here but they have since lost my business. I can get overpriced bad food with horrible customer service from anywhere so why keep settling for it from here.
(1)mark f.
The best pizza in Indiana, and perhaps the Midwest, hands down! It has a very laid-back atmosphere, and the last time I was there, they certainly could have made a rule against smoking, but their is no arguing with the quality of their pizza and the 1 - 2 pounds of topping they put on them! If you can eat more than three pieces of this stuff, you're a REAL man or woman.
(4)
