There aren't a ton of options in Castleton that really get me excited. This place is the exception. Whether it's lunch or dinner this place always does a good job. I went today with coworkers. We had a lot to talk through, so we started off with the pork nachos. They came out piled at least 6 inches high with cheese, peppers, salsa, beans, black olives, guacamole and of course shredded pork. The pork itself was sweet with just a hint of spice. The vegetables were bright and crisp and the guacamole was rich and creamy. Everything blended well together. My favorite thing was that unlike so many plates of nachos, the chips didn't get soggy before we finished. I split a pepperoni pizza and fish tacos with a friend. I normally get one of their more exciting pizzas by my coworker isn't as adventurous as I am. I was actually thrilled to get the pepperoni. This pizza was edge to edge covered with pepperoni. It was slightly spicy with tons of cheese. It was a great pizza and I may never forgive myself that it took this long to try it. We also got the fish tacos. Two huge burrito sized tacos were on the plate. These are probably the biggest fish tacos I have seen. Size doesn't always mean tasty. Luckily they had a nice spice and the fish was cooked well. For a pizza place the tacos were pretty great. If it had been later in the day, I might have gotten a beer. They sport a decent selection of craft beers with A half dozen local options. I wouldn't go just for the beer, but there are solid craft options

Weekending in Indianapolis with the in-laws, we decided to check out this local pizza joint. I was a bit confused at first by the decor. It's called a Pizza Company, but the interior looks like a Montana-inspired burger/steak/red meat kind place. Those sort of things were offered, but we opted for the pizza. We ordered a large Rancher pizza and a small Thai Pie. The pizza crust was excellent- thin, but not super thin. Chewy, but not overly crispy. Definitely had a slight sourdough taste to it. I'm a fan. The Thai Pie featured Thai-inspired topping, like mandarin oranges, peppers, and peanuts. Very different, but very flavorful. The in-laws raved about this! The Rancher was definitely good too, but was more your run-of-the-mill pizza regarding toppings. I didn't get a good glance at the menu, so I had thought that that it had sausage on it from sight, but the lack of seasoning made me think it was more just ground beef. The pepperoni were excellent, just a little crispy around the edges (to me, perfection). I would definitely go back here.

I've been to this location twice and the Westfield Blvd. location once. I prefer this one. The service is better and so is the atmosphere (less noisy and busy). The food is just average. It isn't bad, but not a place I would seek out. I've had pizza twice and pasta once. The pizza is just ok. Average pizza. Not awesome, but edible. The buffalo mac is good, but it is more "Frank's Hot Sauce" mac than true buffalo mac. Despite that, it was tasty, and I enjoyed my leftovers the next day. Their flourless chocolate cake is REALLY good. No complaints there! It's even better than ones I've had at upscale restaurants. So fudgey and chocolatey...mmmm.... Overall, Mackenzie is a perfectly okay restaurant. There are a lot better places, but it's good for a low key family outing or casual dinner.

Tuesday night kids eat free!!! We came here for that reason because they wanted pizza and we didn't want to spend much. First when you sit down they give the kids menus to color on and gold fish to snack on while you read the menu, genius. Our starter was lodge polls (bread sticks) very good they are about half the size of a small pizza and cover in cheese. My wife and I split the large Greek salad and the Mickenzie river pizza. The salad was huge and a good value, the dressing was a creamy feta differing in a good way. The pizza was very light and refreshing. Oh by the way on Tuesdays the kids get there face painted as part of the deal. That made there week!!!

Absolutely no wait on a Friday night for 7 people. Our server was incredibly friendly and personable, our food came out quickly and correctly, and it was all delicious! Hailing from NY I'm pretty particular about my pizza, so I went with the hummus platter and Cobb salad (both fantastic), but I ended up trying a bite of the Original River Co pizza and it was really good! The original crust is as close to NY pizza as I've had in the area. Also, it was a birthday dinner celebration. Although they don't sing or anything, they comped a dessert. The flourless chocolate cake was so rich and tasty.

I have driven past this place several times, and it's always caught my eye. Sitting atop a little knoll on 82nd, this place stands out.. and to be honest, it it's appearance writes a check that the food can't cash. When you first enter the front doors, the environment is welcoming, and neatly decorated. I was positive that we were in for some delicious food, but sadly I was wrong. It's not that it was gross or disgusting. But I honestly can't tell you that it had any flavor at all. It was boring, bland, and a little too lukewarm for my taste. The service was about as forgettable as the food. We saw our server about 3 times the entire time we were there. I have a feeling this place could be really great if the chef's and severs stepped it up a few notches.

Love the Salads, Pizza is Pretty Dang Good!! We have had the Flathead Pizza 2x now. Which is Alfredo Sauce, Fajita Chicken, Smoky Bacon, Tomatoes and Spinach (-mushrooms) and Mozzarella. Bob ordered the Cowboy Nachos with Pulled Pork. They were good... it could easily be a meal for 2. Their Pulled Pork was excellent. Come the last hour and the Cowboy Nachos are 1/2 Price!!

Great pizza, fish tacos , flatbread, chocolate chip cookie. Service typically very good. They could use more low calorie options. Tried Jamaican Chicken Flatbread today. It is very spicy and sweet less then 600 calories.

I just recently moved to Castleton area and am making a point to try all of local cuisine. Right accross the street from my apartment sits the Makinzie River Pizza Company. I had high expectations but all in all it fell a little short. We were seated as soon as we arrived but it took nearly 20 min for someone to come take our drink order. We ordered 3 margaritas and two mixed drinks. They don't have a blender so they couldn't make frozen ones, on big deal. However the bartender/server brought 2 drinks first and the rest about 10 minutes later. 45 min in we got our food which was pretty good but nothing that wowed me. The moral of this review is the service could have made this review better but it just wasn't their night. I'll give them a try again sometime and hopefully they'll be a bit more attentive to their guests.

Great service. I'll leave this short and sweet. The flathead pizza with the chicken, bacon, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, and alfredo is amazing! I've had it at both places and both times it was devine! That is all!

I met a few co-workers for lunch and let the bossman recommend my order. I was thrilled that the atmosphere was relaxed and the waiter gave us all the time we wanted to chit-chat (and kept my water glass full, too - not as common as you'd think most places). The food was good across the board. Next time, I'll review the cocktails.

I just don't enjoy the food here. We ordered the Goat Cheese Queso which was oily and chewy. I don't even know how to make goat cheese either of those things. We should have just tossed in the towel at that point. Instead, we ventured onto the entrees. My husband had the pork tenderloin sandwich and I tried the country fried steak. Both smelled like old and/or cold grease and had no moisture left. The gravy on the country fried steak made it more edible, but the pork sandwich was a lost cause. I thought for sure the apple cobbler could recover the evening. All of the descriptions I can think of are just unkind, so I'm just going to leave it at it wasn't good. I gave an extra star because the service was nice, but I just can't recommend the food at all.

Good pizza! Good burgers! Waffle fries. Kids eat free on Tuesdays, and they have free face painting for kids on Tuesdays. First time here, but as we're moving back to Indy, I'm sure we'll be stopping in again.

ANT PROBLEM! The food here was very average. We did find 2 ants and a stick bug crawling on our table before we even received our drinks. We moved to a different table away from the door thinking they were coming in from there. We found ants on this new table. The manager just kinda blew the whole thing off. We will not be returning.

We went here for my birthday! It was absolutely spectacular. The food was excellent and the servers were kind and patient with our large group. The service wasn't very fast and our drinks were empty often, however, we were there to have a great time and we did.

I just moved to Indy and discovered this place. Everything is on point. Great service, great food, nice place. We had spinach salad which was very good. Hot Hawaiian pizza on thin crust.was fantastic! It came out faster than expected. Pleasant experience. I'll definitely take my family here when they visit. The interesting pizzas at great prices will probably have me ordering a lot of carry out.

When pizza is what you're up for and you'd like to sit down, this is the place to head if you find yourself in the Castleton area. The pizza was absolutely delicious and well made, the drinks were tasty, and it really seemed like the server/bartender enjoyed his job--which made our trip here very enjoyable. The decor is interesting, and I found my eyes wandering the entire time we were here. I think I remember there being a kayak or canoe suspended from the ceiling, but I could be mistaken. I can promise we'll be back to MRPC soon. Very soon. Oh, pizza...

I LOVE Mackenzie! Every time I've been here, the food is outstanding. They offer half priced appetizers for the last hour they're open, which is a great deal. The Hog Wings and Rollino are unique and very good. I've tried several pizzas and pastas as well, and never been disappointed. Everything goes well with the constantly-rotating local/microbrew selections, of course. As has been noted in other reviews, the staff makes this place great! Chris behind the bar is the best, but everyone I've dealt with from cooks to managers and waitstaff are excellent! Overall, if you're looking for something a little different and not too expensive, try it out!

The good: Average prices, good atmosphere, service was friendly and knowledgeable, good size portions of food, good beer and cocktail selections. Lots of menu options to choose from The bad: Definitely a cookie-cutter atmosphere. Kind of stereotypical and boring. This particular restaurant was playing bad 90's boy bands for the entire meal. Overall: A solid option if you are looking for normal 'American' fare that isn't too expensive. Atmosphere: 7/10 Service: 8.5/10 Food: 7.5/10

Average food is average with poor service to boot. I obviously didn't great things from a chain pizza joint and Mackenzie pretty much met my expectations. The pizza was edible, but the dough was undercooked. My friends burger was average. They did have a decent draft list. For a night that want very busy, I felt like our table was invisible. My drink was empty several times and it took us 20 minutes to get our check after we had finished eating. If you want your average chain, family of 4 bullshit than you won't be disappointed by this place.

I love pizza. It's probably my favorite food in the world, and it has its own section in my own personal food pyramid. That being said, I guess I have high expectations for pizza? Yes, you're right, I definitely have high expectations for pizza. For a restaurant that has the word pizza in its name, I'm expecting perfection or durn near close to it. I ordered the Fresh Tomato Basil pizza with thin crust. I normally love this kind of pizza... it's not too heavy, no meat... great for lunch. This was just not good :( There was way too much sauce on the pizza, the crust was burnt and I couldn't taste any garlic or basil. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing for my taste palate. I'm not sure, but whatever the reason I was just sad after lunch. I will go back, because I give pizza places a second chance. That's just who I am. Hopefully the second time around will be better... because it's close to where I work and it looks really good!

My family had been to the one in Montana before they informed me that there was a location here in Indianapolis. Perfecto! They said the layout was very similar - wood, nature scenes and lights filled the restaurant. Their menu offers several speciality items, specifically when it comes to the pizza. I can't even remember what the options were called, but they were all very unique and delicious. The pricing is reasonable and it's a great spot to bring a family. Sure, they have their bar area, but overall it's a nice spot for a larger group. I actually was there the other day and decided to go "crazy" and order something new. Not typically something I'm known to do. And low and behold, I was impressed. My brother is actually doing mission work in Montana, so hopefully I'm able to visit him this coming year -- and will most likely visit the Mackenzie River Pizza Company near him. Pretty sure that's the original location.

We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and it was incredible. The salad option was overpriced for the size, but was good nonetheless. The service was good, they were really nice and friendly towards my toddler niece.

I dined at this restaurant with my in-laws for a Sunday lunch. Brock (our waiter) was hilarious and had us all laughing whenever he would stop by and check on us. The food was pretty good, too. I only had a salad (which was as good as a salad can be) but everyone else at the table seemed to really enjoy their food (from sandwiches to pizza). Would definitely recommend!

This is our favorite go-to place. We have had almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Pulled Pork sandwich, Meatloaf and the Fish & Chips are a few of our favs. Pizza is always delicious as well. Service is always great and we have never had a complaint and we have probably eaten here 20+ times. Outdoor seating is great because even though you are on the end of a strip-mall, you feel like you tucked in a little forest!

Pizza is frozen. Toppings come out of a bag. Soup is horrible. Fake managers and don't help the workers. They just wanted to throw us free food when we didn't like it in the first place. As the manager just walked around when he told our family he was the kitchen manager.

Went here for the first time on Saturday and it was not great. I ordered clam chowder, and it was complete water. I asked the bartender if it was normal. He said no they must be trying to stretch it out. Really, ok. I sent it back. My wife had the chili and she said it was great. I got the apple cobbler and it was also not good. I thought that it was potato casserole with ice cream on top. The menu is all over the place for a pizza joint. I might try this place again, not in a hurry. I would rather get great pizza from Bella's on 96 th.

Let me first say I know this is a pizza joint and should have had pizza but I didn't..I am in town for a few days and this place was recommended to me.. I first went there last night and found the service great. I sat at a table in the bar area . The bartender was very knowledgable about the beer and was very helpful selecting a very good IPA. I am originally from the Midwest and saw they had strip tenderloin sandwiches. I haven't had one for years so that is what I ordered. That is when the great experience stopped. It was not long and my food came. First of all I could smell the old grease before I even saw my food. As soon as I saw the tenderloin I could tell the grease was too hot. The outside was almost burnt. The inside was barely cooked. I also had the lattice fries, another favorite of mine. The were not cooked. They were almost raw. Well dumb me. I thought I would give them another shot tonight.. Again I did not have the pizza. The server was very good and I had high hopes. I thought the fish and chips sounded real good. Well when it came I again could smell the old grease and the fish looked very dark. I had one bite and that was it. The fish must have been frozen for years. I broke one of the fish sticks open and cannot even describe how bad it looked. The one reason I am writing this review is I am now in bed with stomach craps. Never again.

Went there for dinner tonight. I ordered the Fish and Chips dinner and my wife ordered the Fish Taco Skewers appetizer. Her appetizer came on a much larger plate than my entree. I had four small chunks of cod that my wife called pathetic. In addition, the amount of sugar in the "Captain Crunch" coating causes the batter to be excessively caramelized (read nearly burnt). The cole slaw was good, but again it was a minuscule portion... about 2 tablespoons. The bottom line is don't go there if you are hungry.

Kids eat free on Tuesdays! Been here twice now. Both times the service was great and the crowd was light. The first time I had the breaded tenderloin. It was different in that is was a spicy tenderloin (therefore it was darker but not burnt like I read in another review). It was okay, but I probably wouldn't get it again. The second time I tried the buffalo mac 'n cheese. It was also different and okay, but I probably won't get this again either. It tastes just like it sounds, and is good at first, but it wears on you after awhile. I will still come back and there is a huge menu to try. I think pizza will be next.

We picked well again! This place was really good! Great beer selection (including local beers). The pizza selection was very creative. My pizza was good but my boyfriends pizza was awesome! He ordered the Caribbean Jerk and it was very different but very very yummy! We also ordered spinach artichoke dip and it was awesome! The waitstaff was great and the food was fast. Great patio area. Inside tables were very unique but it was like really cold inside so we ate on the patio! Overall, glad we went!
I've only been here once, but I definitely got a good impression. Their BBQ pizza is delicious, and a small provides plenty of left-overs. I also tried their Mud Pie. I asked if the coffee ice cream could be substituted; it can not. I was disappointed at first, but as it turns out, it has just a hint of coffee flavor and blended perfectly with the cookie crust and chocolate syrup on top. Did I mention one slice is massive?!! I was also there with a group of about 20 people. We just showed up on a Sunday evening, and they had no problem accommodating us with such short notice. Our waitress was a rockstar and provided separate checks for everyone as well. I look forward to some more of their pizza!

Wasn't a big fan. First the service was lousy at best, I expect to be seen and engaged at times other than taking my order and giving me my check; that didn't happen and that didn't help their rating. To the food, I have had better appetizers at a carry out pizza joint. And for the pizza, it fell flat. Toppings were of mediocre quality and quantity, the sauce was basically tomato paste reconstituted with water, and the crust was the same crappy crust you can get at a crappy joint like pizza king. The combinations were somewhat unique, my dining partners had the BLT and Pad Thai pizza while I had the BBQ chicken all three were plagued by one or more issues previously stated. Overall I won't go back unless a dining partner invited me and even then I will avoud the pizza at all costs.

I came here with a group of people a little bit ago for lunch after one of my coworkers told me how she used to go here all the time at the original location in Montana. The service was timely and friendly which was nice, and the atmosphere was clean. I ordered a white pizza with sausage, spinach and feta, and it was average good. I also got the clam chowder which I didn't much care for. The food was overall average. Maybe the problem was I was going in with outstanding expectations or something, but by no means was the food bad. It just wasn't what I was expecting. The prices were kind of expensive, I think if they were a couple dollars less then the quality of the food would have sufficed. If I'm in the area again I'd definitely stop by, but it was an overall average experience for me and my friends.

Wonderful service, great food! The place is decorated very nice. Can't wait to sit outside on the patio in the summer. Try the thin crust pizzas or buffalo mac and cheese. I had the buffalo chicken pizza and it was very spicy!

The food comes out fairly quickly, which is always a good thing. The quality of the food isn't bad, but it's not that great either. The salad is really small and still was around 8 bucks and the fish tacos weren't the greatest either. I didn't have the pizza though, which is what the place is known for, so it might be worth trying out.

I'm going to go ahead and say "meh" because the sammich I got was not anything close to what I was expecting. The Italian Chicken sammich is not exactly a sammich. It's more of a panini. As in all of the ingredients (which sound fresh and light) are put between two pieces of bread and then smashed to death in a panini press. And the bread is toasted with oil or butter or something. I was expecting a juicy chicken breast sammich, instead I got grilled chicken strips smashed inside a panini that had entirely too much pesto on it. The sammich was crispy on the outside (and a bit greasy) and soggy on the inside. It was served with chips, which also seemed a bit greasy. The soda fountain tasted a bit off, not enough carbonation. Maybe the pizza here is really good, but the sammiches are not at all what I expected. Nor did the one I ordered live up to any sort of reasonable expectations. The decor is sort of like they took a few pieces from the now defunct Loon Lake Lodge and redecorated a former Applee's/Chili's/TGI Friday's motif. So if you like that kind of atmosphere, then go for it.

Buffalo Chicken Mac n' Cheese! I have always thought this restaurant and bar space with the nice deck attached would make a great restaurant IF the right one ever moved into it. This one blew me a away! While they are a "Franchise" I use the term loosely since the one here in Indianapolis is owned by the sons of the creator. They are from Bozeman, MT but attended the University of IU according to our waitress. The draft beer selection was impressive. Imagine a world where restaurants, supported by the local community, in turn support other local business in the SAME community! They chose to work with local breweries, like our fave Sun King Brewery, who produces an amber ale for them. They also carry draft brews from local breweries across IN, which is very unfrancheesey. Onto the FOOD! Our server said the best thing on the menu was the, get this, Buffalo Chicken Mac n' Cheese. So of course I had to have some. To go along with this we ordered one of the pizzas, a small 9" thin crust, Hot Hawaiian BBQ Chicken. Sitting out on the deck, enjoying the amazing weather and great drinks, our food arrived steaming hot. So I check out the mac n' cheese. Then I take a bite. It was beyond amazing, It was ADDICTIVE. With celery on the side and blue cheese crumbles on top, I kept shoveling it in my mouth wondering why this combination of food was just now being discovered. So good I might go back for some for lunch today. The pizza was tasty too and the thin crust was excellent.

I've dined at this location several times in the last few years. I usually order the salmon entree, lemon chicken entree, salads, and pizzas. The latter dishes have all been good in the past. Today, I was sorely disappointed with the lemon chicken entree, as the preparation and recipe have clearly recently changed. The two breasts of chicken were dry and extremely salty. The chicken breasts tasted as if they had been frozen for years. The side of rice was not cooked (it was crunchy) and was over seasoned and salty. The rice was not edible. I suffered through one breast of chicken and sent the leftovers (rice and second breast of chicken) back to the kitchen.

Every self-styled male in the Pacific Northwest wants to be in Montana, but every male of similar low self-esteem in Montana wants to be in Alaska. It's a weird dynamic. Once Henry Winkler and the crew invaded Kalispell and turned Bozeman into a redneck Aspen, people there seem to be eager to find what they were promised: tall, snow-capped peaks, big skies, and open wilderness. It's a little hard to find in Montana now. I mention this to sort of shed light on why a Montana-based chain of pizza places might name itself after a river in the Yukon. But a Montana-based chain of pizza places, with other locations in the culturally-similar Spokane-Coeur d'Alene metro, opening a location in Indianapolis, Indiana? The logic just speaks for itself, right? This place looks straight out of the Rockies. There are a lot of places in suburban Colorado and Montana that serve good but somewhat overpriced food in a dining room that looks like it may have been designed by a lumber company to sell cabins. You get photos of big skies, mountains and a few snapshots of elk and bear scattered throughout the place (even though I've never seen elk on the menu at any of these places, which is a shame because elk meat is wonderful). The menu contains American specialties with a focus on meat, particularly steaks, fish, burgers and pork chops. But here we have pizza. The first thing I notice is that the pizza is reasonably priced. You can choose a "small" for roughly $9 or a "large" starting at $12 and going up to $19. But there's a lot else there on the menu, most of which runs just under $10 and includes things like buffalo mac n' cheese, burgers, dinner salads, etc. Basically back to what I expect from deer antler chandelier sort of place. The server, in an awkward introduction of the menu, pointed to the highlighted items, saying "These are items that we, as the staff really like. That's pretty cool." I translated that as, "These are the items that the restaurant makes the most money on and we get a commission for selling. That's pretty cool." I don't know if this introduction is for the sight-impaired, since the items are already highlighted, or it's just to beat the point of "order these, damn it" into the ground. We made our own pizza with two toppings and got a caesar salad. We also got a couple of beers. And I do have to talk about the beer selection, because I originally ran across this place on a beer web site. Decent selection but not a ton of taps. They have several rotators, one of which included a Sun King double IPA and another that was labelled a house beer ("Mackenzie River Amber" or something) but it was just Upland Rad Red. Not to minimize that beer, but why not just call it that? Distinctly missing though was a Montana beer. I would have loved to have seen Moose Drool or another Big Sky beer on tap, but, then again, I've never seen them in the state (they're in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio though), so it could just be an issue of distribution. In its place was a Left Hand Milk Stout. Best thing about the beers though: $3 pints on Mondays, and that includes that Sun King double IPA that cost me $6.25 that night. Other beers are in the $4-5 range. The salad was unexceptional, which would put it as good for Indiana standards. The pizza was good but not great. But Indy has some generally terrible pizza. Aside from Bazbeaux, the creepy exposed teeth place, and the two J's, pizza is just bad in the city. And those places' pizzas aren't even that great. So they're definitely not in a crowded market here and they've picked a very good location, considering it's between the fancy places closer to Keystone and the skeezy places closer to Castleton. It offers a comfortable, casual but still nice dining atmosphere at a reasonable price. What more do you want? Tip: seems to be popular with families. If you don't want screaming, get a seat in the bar. Also, get there early: we came at about 5:30 on Saturday to a nearly empty restaurant and there was a wait by the time we left.

Went for dinner... we got some beers and ordered the "humble pie" basically a 4 cheese pizza and a veggie pizza both on their original sourdough crust. They were out of their whole grain crust which was a little disappointing. The pizza was OK - nothing amazingly good but wasnt bad either. I will continue my search for a good pizza place in Indy.

Don't order the kids burgers unless you want burnt hockey pucs. My poor daughter actually spit it out and her tongue was black. My veggie pizza was soooo spicy and they couldn't explain why and my sisters spinach salad came with an awful dressing. Service was slow and the server didn't know the menu. Second chance, won't be a third, sorry......

Pizza dough is poor quality. House salad is nothing to get excited about. Better local pizza joints that are less expensive in the area.

I would deduct a half star for the atmosphere feeling a little too sterile and chain-like, but I've been 3 times now and the food/service have been terrific every time. The pesto lodgesticks have become a must as an appetizer and the pizzas have all been great. I've had the Caribbean Chicken, Hawaiian, and Branding Iron and all were excellent. Most impressively, the Hawaiian and Branding Iron had jalapeños that were actually hot! I struggle to find decent options in the Castleton area, so Mackenzie River is now my go-to place up there. MRPC has quickly become one of my favorites!

I like this place. The atmosphere is your typical bar-pizza joint. It does have nice big booths and seating options. Bar is not very big, so you generally have to sit in the dining room unless you get there early or get lucky! The pizza is tasty, but not off the charts. We had the "Good 'ol Boy", "Fresh tomato basil", and the "rancher"....all were very unique with flavor and the crust was awesome. I haven't been to the new location in Carmel, but I'd say this is a great alternative to other pizza shops there.

Decided to drop in for dinner after a day of Christmas shopping. I had been once with some friends and liked the food, so I brought my husband this time. We walked in and stood at the hostess stand. After 5 min, no one had spoken to us. The dining room was pretty empty and the bar had several empty tables, quite a few dirty ones also. After finally meeting the hostess, she seated us in the bar and told us who "she thought" would be our waiter, but she wasn't sure. So, we picked out beers, debated about menu items, and came to a decision. Once again, no one had spoken to us. 2 waiters passed by without acknowledging us and the hostess passed by again. Another 5 minutes had passed, and still nothing. We decided we were tired of being ignored, so we got up and left. The hostess was no where to be seen, but one of the waiters that had passed us was leaning on the bar chatting with friends. Needless to say, we won't be back!

Nothing special. The crust on their pizza is dry. The buffalo mac and cheese is pretty good. The prices are too high. The service at the bar is awful. The bartenders were talking about me behind my back as I ate, which doesn't make for a pleasant dining experience. I won't be going back.

I ventured to Mackenzie River Pizza Company with some friends for a New Years Eve dinner. Overall, I am very happy with that choice! The restaurant is beautiful, it had a very down to earth feel. There were white twinkling lights and tree branches for decoration, even the tables were wooden and made to look like bark was around the edges. I tried the Buffalo Mack and Cheese, and it was delicious. A few of my friends ordered some of the pizzas and they were all happy with their meals as well. Only downsides were it was somewhat slow service, and they weren't even that busy. Granted, there were 9 of us total but it took quite awhile to get our drinks back to us and they even forgot to bring mine for quite awhile. Other than that, it was a great time and I'm sure I'll be back!

MRPC is the kind of place I imagine going to a lot if I want to gain a lot of weight. The portions are literally the size of my head. I ordered a sandwich and it was really big enough for three people. I'm not judging here (well, maybe I am, a little!) but go hungry! Moving on from portion size madness, the food was actually pretty good. I had one of the sandwiches (on ciabatta bread, turkey, bacon, a few other things) and it was very tasty. But, as mentioned, gigantic. The service was really outstanding when my husband and I went. No complaints there. So why only three stars? Because, while it was good, it wasn't anything special. I'm not really a chain restaurant fan and this place smacked of chain-itis.

I'm surprised the reviews aren't higher. Google Reviews give it a 29/30 (10 reviews total). I loved this place...great atmosphere, incredible thin crust pizza, $3 pints & very friendly service!

Infant friendly place with BIG booths and a cool atmosphere.....get the "bell" pizza.....awesome taste and it has beans on it! Genius! lol....great place with new or expecting mothers parking too!

Meh. The pizza toppings were decent, but the crust itself was pre-made, like a Boboli, except in a restaurant that you're supposed to take seriously. The building is yet another empty echoey warehouse-style space, which means that the music and the crowd noise reverberates and gets overwhelming. We were there like the week after they opened, and the waitress was still in the starry-eyed over-perky stage at which she was smiling in a scary, over-exaggerated way. Honestly, for better pizza from a chain go to Papa John's.

We had an early dinner here today. The service was friendly and efficient. We ordered a couple of pizzas and a fish and fries. The pizzas were thin crust and very good. The fish were thick and the coating was a bit spicy but in a good way. The fries were waffle fries. We were all very happy with the restaurant and would return again when in the area. Pricing was moderate 12 for the large pizza and around 12 for the fish meal. Restaurant was clean. I'm a fan :)

We were here last night. Its only been open for about four weeks from what the manager had said. It had some great qualities and needed some improvements in other areas, I am sure what things get worked out, this will be a 5-star Yelp favorite! The setting: Think cabin meets Olive Garden meets Outback. Has a Montana cabin theme, which they regale you with the story if its your first visit, trees growing up through the floor, log chairs and tables, decor is cheesy at its best. The bad: Server arrived with a dirty salad bowl from another table and set it on our table to take our drink orders, I am not a germ-a-phobe, but yucky! He was not well versed int he wine list. He took my man's order, a stockman pizza with bell and jalapeno peppers. He got a bell and jalapeno pepper pizza. He identified beers and a woman's beer and a man's beer. Just a little outdated to me. Should I just order a Shirley Temple? They kept bring us desserts for the table next to us. The good: They really did shine! The food was AWESOME!!! We ordered the Pesto Lodgepoles as an app I wanted the pesto fettuccine and had them add jalapenos and sun dried tomatoes to it. DELICIOUS!!!! When we notified the server his pizza was wrong, he sent the manager over, who told us to enjoy what we had until he right one came out, that both were on him, and to figure out what we would like for our free dessert. They really stepped up to take responsibility. I did see another servers sections have the dessert issue, so that may not have been the server, just flaws in a new system. I really have faith this place is going to work out the kinks as long as the compensated meals doesn't put them out of business. I would recommend it again!!!

My wife took me here as a fathers day dinner and after reading a couple other reviews i wasn't so sure i would like it and after having a nice tall sun king cream ale along with a rollino and a pizza i have to say I am impressed top notch service with top notch food ignore all those other reviews that say this place is bad. We will definitely come back here!

Wonderful thin crust pizza (we ordered a branding iron and subbed pulled pork for sausage). Also the cookie skillet desert is THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER. I also ordered a mixed drink and it was mixed well, not too much alcohol. We will definitely be back. The staff was so nice.

I understand that manners/ combined with lackluster service is so common that some don't even mind anymore. However, as we sat at the bar the 250lb tattooed guy, in the establishment less than 1/2 full, joined in our conversation! Misheard. Way off base, to which we replied in unison, "No!" he went on to say, " I thought..............." and it was uncomfortable and embarrassing. Meanwhile, I could only hope this person that they chose to greet the customers as a representative of the restaurant was not going to handle my food. Just looked dirty. Every other place was busy on a Wednesday night, this was our only alternative. Service was quick, service was inaccurate & no napkins, no plastic ware, All that was asked for 'on the side" was omitted, and not found in the take home bags, there was a credit card payment; with an 16% tip. Check your bags before you leave, he never listens, however, now I"m telling you guys. Skip Mackenzie & put up with the Valet Parking at the other restaurants.

The buffalo mac and cheese is amazing. Get a side of breadsticks too! My husband loves the beer selection, they always have local brews on tap. Lots of TVs in the bar area to watch sports!

Visited for the first time last night. Nothing to rave about nothing to complain about. Staff seemed quite overwhelmed at the multiple parties over 20 people. Supposedly this was their busiest night yet and we could tell the staff was quite stessed. Service was great. Food was a bit underwhelming. Atmosphere was a bit odd with a Montana ski lodge theme in Indianapolis... Bar was small. Outside deck was perfect for summer. Could use some specials on drinks and pizza as beer was about 4-6 a pint and pizza was 15-25 for a large pie. Would really benefit from some happy hour specials with all the local businesses. Hopefully there will be good things to come here!

This is more than just a restaurant. The owners- Mike and John and their whole staff treat all their guests like you are their best friends. The service is incredible and the food is top notch. I can honestly say each time I visit I get World Class Service and that is how they treat everyone. I would recommend the Sante Fe Chicken sandwich my personal favorite. The items on their Starter Menu are really good. If you like a good burger this is the place for you. Don't pass up a chance to try one of their desserts. The cobbler is delicious and the Mack Lovin is unbelievable. This is a great place for family and friends. Plenty of TV's to watch games. I always have fun when I go there. Great location! If you are hungry and want a place that will treat you right this is the place for you. Dan B.

Just ate here once, this past weekend. Each had the iceberg wedge salad, which was delicious (but with tons of bleu cheese, which fortunately I love) and split a small pizza with our own toppings. It was the perfect portion, and the thin pizza crust was wonderfully crispy. It was covered with pepperoni and cheese, although I had a more difficult time finding the sausage or mushrooms. The service was attentive, prompt and helpful. But as someone else mentioned, the decor is basic chain restaurant (this is a small-ish chain with restaurants in only four or five states) and kind of oppressive. All that wood and fake wildlife . . . And the menu is, well, kind of weird. OK, it has pizza, sure, and I will say pasta pairs pretty well with pizza. And the salads and chili, OK. But then it starts to veer in strange directions. For the appetizers, nachos and fish tacos. At a pizza place? Several choices of burgers (half-pound) and fries. Pulled pork sandwich, Reuben. And then the entrees: meat loaf, ribs, shepherd's pie. FISH AND CHIPS!?!? I cannot judge the quality of any of this food -- it is quite possibly just as delicious as the salad and pizza -- but the selection seems all over the place and just so . . . random.

Awesome!! Everything about this place I loved. The whole staff was friendly and informative. Decor is great. Great selection of craft beers from Indiana, pizza was great, we split a hamburger and the flavor is so unique compared to most places, they use mesquite wood to grill the burgers, we should not have split it. The spinach artichoke dip had a hint of pesto, very very good. I would recommend this for families, outside diners and people like us who like to sit at the bar. Loved it! Super clean and great atmosphere!!! Go there!!!

A chain that doesn't eat like one! While waiting for our table, the offered a 'lodgestick' as an appetizer teaser. Nice touch. Our server was so knowledgable about the restaurant and it's menu, we really felt like he loved to work there. Oh yes the food. Buffalo Mack n cheese- awesome . Hot Hawaiian pizza? Hot! Yummy! But the memorable item is the Mack- loven dessert. Just order it. Really. Thank me later.

Good place to grab pizza & local beer. They seem to have a variety of unique pizza combinations and I liked that I could order a half/half large pizza with 2 different combos on each half. Also had the maclovin dessert, which was so delicious and good to split between 2 people.

You have to try this place! My recommendations are a cold beer on their patio on a warm summer day, it doesn't get much better. I've had their Sante Fe Chicken sandwich, which was great, I just needed a couple extra napkins! The burgers are also really good. My fiance loves their Greek salad (try it with chicken), and their wedge salad.

My co-worker and I had lunch here today which had a moderate busy lunch crowd. It's my second visit after having dinner with my wife here about a month ago. Service was excellent and I really appreciate the attention we received throughout our meal. We were able to discuss business without interruption or a noisy environment. I plan to bring other co-workers here because the menu is not all pizza. My pulled pork sandwich was literally 2 inches thick served with very tasty kettle chips. My co-worker had a very beefy burger and commented it was very good. Prices are reasonable and I love the causal atmosphere. Please give them a ride - you won't be disappointed.

Have been going to this establishment for a long time, recently went to the new Carmel location to check it out. We have never been let down. We have spoken with the owners several times and they are always so kind and strive for the best in their restaurants. We have always had kind servers who listened to us and checked on us throughout the meal. Love the natural grain crust and the pizza never tastes frozen or like baboli crust you buy in the store (as previous posts say). The quality of cheese and toppings is tons better than you could ever have at the $5 pizza joints. My husband loves their meatloaf dish and my favorite pizza is the Seqoia.

Really good. I would suggest pizzas on the thin crust. I was from out of town, and sat at the bar by myself. Staff is very friendly and made me feel right at home. Fun.

I've been here twice and both times, I had great service and really enjoyed the food. One of my favorite things about this place is that they have a "natural grain" crust that is a really yummy, healthier option. We never order breadsticks here. Instead, we just get a cup of dipping sauce and eat the crusts like breadsticks! They have a good variety of specialty pizzas to choose from or you can create your own. They also have some other options on their menu if you're not up for pizza. I remember they have a lot of sandwich options and they serve fish. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area!

Been twice, once shortly after they opened and then again today. Food so so and the service was poor. They were not very busy and there were several servers. It was just after lunch. The bar did not have a bartender working so drinks were extremely slow and our server didn't bother to check on us once until she left the check. Since the food was so so I will use my twice burned rule and go else where for dining.

My wife and I visited MRPC after a receiving rave recommendation from a friend, we we're not disappointed. When you enter the front door, you are greeted by a huge wooden bear. The "cabin lodge" theme follows throughout the whole restaurant. In the restroom, there are maps of national forests in Montana (I assume this chain was started there). I have to also mention that their restroom has a Dyson Air-blade hand dryer, so I have to give them props for that. We ordered the MacKenzie River pizza; olive oil and garlic, spinach, roasted zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes, mozz & feta cheese on thin crust-- It was quite spectacular. They have a house beer (Flat12, blonde) which was very good. I think the only think really holding me back from a 5-star rating is their service. The hostesses and servers didn't have their crap together at all. Service was slow, not terribly slow, but not by any means fast. There were 4-5 hostesses or at least 4-5 girls at the hostess booth all chatting from the time we came in to the time we left. Definitely worth checking out.

I came her for lunch the other day with my family and really enjoyed it. The menu had a great variety of not only pizzas, but sandwiches and appetizers as well. I had the thin crust pepperoni pizza (I can't remember what this was called on the menu.) I thought it was excellent! The only negative I have is that the service was a bit poor at times. My sister had ordered the quesadilla with sour cream on the side. After waiting a while for our food, it had finally come out. Then later, our server brought us a box with another quesadilla for us to take home, explaining that they had originally messed up our order and that's why our food took so long. It just would have been nice to know ahead of time the reason why we were waiting. But other than that, delicious food! I'd definitely go there again.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

One of my favorite spots for lunch meetings and family friendly dinner. Yummy beers, tasty food and very friendly service!

(3)Christine B.
Great service. I'll leave this short and sweet. The flathead pizza with the chicken, bacon, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, and alfredo is amazing! I've had it at both places and both times it was devine! That is all!
(5)Trena R.
(4)Carie W.
(2)Jeff C.
Good pizza! Good burgers! Waffle fries. Kids eat free on Tuesdays, and they have free face painting for kids on Tuesdays. First time here, but as we're moving back to Indy, I'm sure we'll be stopping in again.
(4)Andrew W.
(1)Heidi M.
We went here for my birthday! It was absolutely spectacular. The food was excellent and the servers were kind and patient with our large group. The service wasn't very fast and our drinks were empty often, however, we were there to have a great time and we did.
(5)Dakota S.
(5)Ashlee A.
(4)Eric R.
(5)Paul W.
Great place! Great food and the outside music was great. Alex was great!!! Good family environment:). The meatloaf was amazing with a wonderful smoky glaze. Blt pizza was fantastic!
(5)Kyle D.
(4)Unknown U.
Terrible service, and the food is as bad as the service. Frozen pizza is better than this place.
(1)Hunter U.
(2)Meredith S.
(2)Sarah C.

Awesome service and amazing food! Sit in the bar! The bartenders are super cool and personable.
(5)Stephanie B.
(5)Robbie R.
5 stars for the 3 Floyds pints and fish taco reccomendation by the bartender Chris!! That guy really knows his beer. Every time that he has been working when I have been in I have sat at the bar.
(5)Mr S.

(2)Jasun R.
(4)Nikoma K.

If you're looking for a place to unwind, stop in. My bartender, Adam, provided excellent service, engaging conversation and provided me with laughter on a difficult day. If this doesn't lure you in, consider the Stockman (a pizza with steak strips, pepperoni, bacon, sausage, mozzarella and cheddar cheese). There were probably 20 other pizza options before creating your own. The menu also includes numerous sandwiches and entrées. If you're in the Castleton area, stop in and give it a try.
(5)Emilee B.
(5)Stacey B.
Great food and service... Come to Indy once a year and always look forward to coming to Mackenzie River.
(5)Rob W.
(2)Supriya D.
(3)A B.
Wonderful service, great food! The place is decorated very nice. Can't wait to sit outside on the patio in the summer. Try the thin crust pizzas or buffalo mac and cheese. I had the buffalo chicken pizza and it was very spicy!
(4)Abhi M.
(3)Bill J.

(5)Ryan D.
Great Atmosphere! Amazing food! Reminds me a lot of the classic rancher style atmosphere. Friendly staff and great food. Fell in live the moment I walked in. I would suggest cheese sticks as appetizers.
(5)Jason M.
Pizza was great! The staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was laid back with good music playing in the background. Will definitely be back.

(4)Divya V.
(3)Kelli P.
(2)Rob S.
Pizza dough is poor quality. House salad is nothing to get excited about. Better local pizza joints that are less expensive in the area.
(2)Matthew E.
(5)Louie L.

(1)Scott H.
Nothing special. The crust on their pizza is dry. The buffalo mac and cheese is pretty good. The prices are too high. The service at the bar is awful. The bartenders were talking about me behind my back as I ate, which doesn't make for a pleasant dining experience. I won't be going back.
(1)Alyssa T.
(4)Neesha M.
(3)Rebecca J.
I'm surprised the reviews aren't higher. Google Reviews give it a 29/30 (10 reviews total). I loved this place...great atmosphere, incredible thin crust pizza, $3 pints & very friendly service!
(5)Kevin D.
Infant friendly place with BIG booths and a cool atmosphere.....get the "bell" pizza.....awesome taste and it has beans on it! Genius! lol....great place with new or expecting mothers parking too!
(5)Lucy H.
(2)Christine M.

(4)Jeremy B.
(5)Jessika F.
(5)Smythe G.
(1)Megan C.
The buffalo mac and cheese is amazing. Get a side of breadsticks too! My husband loves the beer selection, they always have local brews on tap. Lots of TVs in the bar area to watch sports!
(5)Ty S.
(3)Dan B.

I cannot judge the quality of any of this food -- it is quite possibly just as delicious as the salad and pizza -- but the selection seems all over the place and just so . . . random.
(3)Kellie C.
Go there!!!
(5)Team K.
(5)Carly M.
Good place to grab pizza & local beer. They seem to have a variety of unique pizza combinations and I liked that I could order a half/half large pizza with 2 different combos on each half. Also had the maclovin dessert, which was so delicious and good to split between 2 people.
(4)Stephen S.
(5)Stephen D.
(5)Stacey H.
(5)Alison S.
Really good. I would suggest pizzas on the thin crust. I was from out of town, and sat at the bar by myself. Staff is very friendly and made me feel right at home. Fun.
(5)P K.
The pizza was good, and service was very nice and friendly. I want to come back and try some of their other dishes which looked and sounded amazing.
(4)Meg M.

Horrible bar service... Looked and smelled like he hadn't showered in days. Poor server hygiene makes me question wanting to eat there. Food was so-so might try again just stay away from bar!
