Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Best Mexican restaurant on the north side hands down. Where else can you get a 32oz beer so cheap? I haven't found it lol White quest dip is fabulous and the chips are always so fresh. The service staff is always so friendly and eager to wait on my husband and I.

Came here on a whim with my boyfriend and his buddy and was not disappointed. Delicious Corona Margarita and beef tacos. The queso is good but not for someone who doesn't like a lot of spice. Clean place and friendly staff.

Failed inspection last year. goo.gl/whHMxp Yes the food was typical of a mexican restaurant. But when it came to the customer needs... well you can forget it they just want your money. They were very rude when it came down to requesting an itemized receipt for company expense reporting. They are using tech from the 90's for logging. btw the 90's were almost 30 years ago now. (I realize that saves money, but the world is leaving you behind) The inconveince is that you will have to wait a week before an itemized receipt is created then they claim they can only Fax it or have you pick it up... (so forget about being out of state) Who doesn't have a phone that can take a picture and send a photo these days?! TLDR: Poor customer service and outdated tech.

I grew up outside of Chicago, so I consider myself pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food. I've been to some places where the food lacked flavor and the white cheese was chincy, but not here. Excellent service, our waiter was great, he spoke very good english and made a recommendation because I was torn between two options. Chorizo cheese dip was great as was my fajita burrito, made just the way I like it with onions, peppers, mushrooms, chicken, and covered with Queso Blanco. I feel like it's just a tad higher in price than other places by maybe 25 cents, but it's totally worth it. Absolutely delicious food, cute atmosphere, very clean, and nice bar. The food tasted very fresh to me and was a great value. I'll be back!

Consistent, affordably priced Mexican food. The service is always very quick and the waiters are friendly. A nice spot for a quick lunch or dinner on the north side.

The wife and I eat here every couple weeks. The freshly baked chips are always excellent, and they have the best queso dip. The Tacos Al Pastor is probably my favorite meal of any restaurant in Indy - it's delicious! However, the best part of La Cabana is the service. Everyone is always warm, friendly, and eager to serve. Great people!

Service was a little slow - strange since we were the only ones in there. We stuck with the basics: tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. The fish tacos and other offerings sounded interesting. The chorizo queso dip was interesting, but we will probably stick with cheese only next time. The restaurant is clean and the little cabanas are adorable. It's fun to get a table with a cabana on top.

From the outside, I was a little skeptical about dining here, but let me tell you, I am glad we did! The customer service was amazing!!! The food even better! From the chips, salsa, and cheese to the shrimp, chicken, and steak burrito & quesadilla we ordered.... Everything was great! The shrimp were so nicely cooked!! Oh i forgot to mention the mega 45OZ margarita....we only got one and struggled to finish it!! However, we should've sat near the back of the restaurant, because it was sooooooo cold! Goodness gracious!

Family in town who do not eat too adventurously were absolutely pleased with the choice in dining here. Lunch options only run weekdays, but will serve lunch portions for $2 more. Typical, run of the mill Americanized Mexican food if that's what you're looking for. The atmosphere is nice inside, and the waitstaff really friendly.

Decent Mexican joint for lunch. I ordered the "Speedy Gonzalez" (taco, enchilada and beans); with a diet Coke, my bill was about $7.50. Service was prompt and efficient. The chips were warm and the salsa, while not spicy, had a good flavor.

This place is to die for. My husband and I come in atleast once a week. The food comes out fast and the people are friendly for the most part. The chips and salsa are always warm and fresh. The food is amazing; its your typical Mexican restaurant food. We've had the golden enchiladas, fajitas, shrimp quesadillas, burrito boom. But the best is the fajita burrito. It's huge and covered in queso, which is always fantastic. Definitely go here to get your Mexican fix.

My husband and I agree best steak tacos we have ever had. Pico was fresh and flavorful. Great margaritas as well!

Thrilled to have finally found a decent Mexican restaurant in North Indy. Their salsa is delicious. Had the vegetarian fajitas, they were very good. Husband had a quesadilla he enjoyed and my father had a combo meal he also loved. The service is a tiny bit slow, but I don't mind because it seemed like everything was actually made fresh. Fresh ingredients make all the difference, especially when you don't feel sick and bloated after eating a Mexican meal, which let's face it, rarely happens.

Good food! I split a "super" enchiladas plate with GF. 4 different enchiladas...all were very good. service during dinner hour was great, Fresh salsa, and warm chips.... prices were reasonable We'll definitely be back!

It must be tough to be creative with Mexican food. Don't confuse that with good - La Cabana is definitely another Gringo restaurant. But it has some creative dishes. The food is just so-so. It really isn't anything great. Even those creative dishes seem to lack in flavor. The salsa is blended tomatoes with some bits of onion. The rice and beans are the same thing that I get from cans in the supermarket. But, you can't get Negra Modelo draft in a 32oz mug at the supermarket. Oh yea, that was what made this restaurant stand out. So, would I go here for awesome Mexican food? No. Would I go for good service and a large glass of Negra Modelo? Maybe I'll consider it.

This is my new favorite Mexican resteraunt. Great margaritas! I prefer shredded beef and this location is one of a very few that has that selection in their menu.

Spicy salsa - yay! Clean, fresh decor. This was our first visit. I had the chicken quesadilla and my friend had the golden enchiladas.

Service was friendly and great, prices reasonable (range of $8-14 for dinners) and you get plenty of food (split regular chicken fajitas and had left overs!) queso dip was $3- and a huge bowl. Chips and Salsa provided- didn't get a second bowl to see if we got charged. Totally recommend and plan on coming back. place was clean, our only complaint is there are lots of lights! Too bright inside.

With so few restaurants in the area featuring Mexican fare, it was nice to find La Cabana. We enjoy the food, staff, and atmosphere every time we go.

This is now my favorite Mexican restaurant! Their margaritas are very similar to the awesome ones I used to get in California. The service is outstanding and the food is exceptionally fresh! What a nice surprise!

Great Mexican food close by! Guacamole is outstanding, and the meals we had tonight were very good. Did I mention the $2.99 margaritas? Yum! Friendly staff, too!
