Diabetics at Jamba Juice:
Eating good food at the right time can control your blood sugar, also stop you from craving wrong sort of food. Jamba Juice offers drinks in three separate sizes: 16, 24, and 32-ounce. You can choose the lowest serving size and cut down on sugars and calorie intake. If you're diabetic and concerned about the sugar intake, then you can opt for the smaller 9.5-ounce smoothies available for kids at Jamba Juice.
Foods to Avoid at Jamba Juice for Diabetics:
Jamba Juice is primarily known for its highly satisfying and nutritive smoothies and juices. Almost every smoothie and juice item on the Jamba Juice menu contains sugar. Diabetics are recommended to opt for smaller serving size while ordering at Jamba Juice. Also, avoid opting for creamy treats as all the smoothies offered in this category contain a load of sugars.
Keep the sugar content below 50g per meal at Jamba Juice and ensure that you don't follow it with a heavy meal. A small size regular smoothie is equivalent to a meal for everyone. Classic smoothies at Jamba Juice are also heavily loaded with sugars. Stay away from that section if you are a diabetic.

Hey now, don't judge a book by it's cover considering it's a little space embedded onto the side of a liquor store with a protective window. You'll literally have to yell to place your order and ask the owner to repeat things several times, but heck this place makes the most delicious jerk! Since it was our first time here, a regular recommended their jerk chicken and oxtail over a bed or rice and peas. (Thank you, for showing us your order!) We knew, we had to get the oxtail that was posted on the window, not on the regular menu list. It was a little over $20 w/tax for 3 lbs of food. Even after an hour on after running errands, it was still piping hot packed in those styrofoam boxes. Let me tell you, the meats were outstanding when it was dunked in that hot jerk sauce. Just the way I like my jerk - hot and savory. Definitely doesn't compare to the pan-Carribean jerk sauce they coat your fried wings at BDubs. That stuff is a joke! The rice and peas were delish! - well seasoned and not the stuff that comes out of a box. I think we'll have to come here to grab a quick bite as often as we can to get some of that jerk and crack jerk sauce!

This place really is as good as the reviews say it is. We had: Ox tail: Done perfectly. If you undercook ox tail, it's chewy. This was done right. Ribs: Tender and well flavored. Pork chops: Excellent. What makes it even better but may be strange for the well-heeled crowd is the skin is still on the meat. Yes, pigs actually have skin! And it's tasty. Rice with beans (which came with the dishes): I'm usually not a huge fan of rice with beans, but this is very good, especially with the juices of the above dishes. We got there at around 6:15pm on a Wednesday evening and they had already run out of most dishes, so you want to get there early. The area is as bad - or at least it feels as bad - as many reviews say it is. The situation sets up for the perfect marketing tagline - "Food so good you'd risk your life to get it!" I live in Carmel where the exact opposite is usually the case: boring food and safe locales. Too bad...

This is the real deal. I've had the Jerk Chicken, Jerk Beef Ribs, Ox tail, Jamaican Escovitch Red Snapper, Curried Chicken Patties, and the Spicy Beef Patties. Everything here is amazing. The Jerk Sauce is tangy, smoky, and has a great kick. All meals are served with fried Plantain and Rice and Beans. Not the place to sit and dine but one of the best places to pick up and go.
(5)Amie L.
Love, love, love. Everyone fears the neighborhood...blah, blah, blah. The ribs are about the best I've ever had (yep, get the hot sauce). The jerk chicken with peas and rice are of course fabulous. I've had the ox tail...delish. Last week I tried the Curry chicken and the beef and chicken patties. All were incredibly flavorful and the chicken was fall off the bone tender. This man knows what he's doing. I'm dying to try the whole fish, but I never seem to go on the right day. It's not always available.
(5)Benjamin B.
Excellent quality chicken. Good and cheap patties. I like this place a lot. Downside is you have to wait outside and it seems to be one at a time sort of slow service most of the time. Who cares, gimme that chicken.
(4)Alex K.
This is Jamaican food as good as it gets. The owner and sole proprietor (Kanai) is strait off the boat and he also returns to Jamaica 2-3 times a year to pick up his spices directly from a farm. This is one of the best places in Indianapolis. Everything is good but the ribs with his hot jerk sauce are to die for. Get the rice and beans and ask for plantains. Everything he does on the grill with hardwood charcoals and it shows. It only has outdoor seating and is mostly carryout. Do not be intimidated by the area. It is worth going anywhere for this quality of food.
(5)Richard H.
Really tasty jerk chicken, nice rice and peas and plantain. I am not as crazy about the patties, but hey! The rib "sandwich" is a monster. Very nicely prepared food, exceedingly well priced -- and pretty popular at lunch, so expect to wait as each order is prepared one at a time.

I hate myself for not getting on here 3 years ago to review this place the very first time I had it. And to make matters worse, I've been back EASILY a dozen times and still hadn't reviewed. SMH at myself. Now that my whining is out of the way, let's talk about this food. I'm a Jamaican-American and it has been really difficult to find truly, authentic Jamaican cuisine in Indianapolis. I've tried every Caribbean spot this city has to offer. This place though... it's not an Afro-Caribbean hybrid, one dish stop or food truck that doesn't have set times or locations (which I've tried them ALL) but it's a Jamaican eatery that reflects the island and is accessible and available. Next to my own kitchen, this place is it. I tell everyone I know who likes Jamaican food to try this place. First of all, it's owned and operated by native Jamaicans. You cannot go wrong there. Next, while the location is a little unorthodox (it's located at the end of a liquor store), the food that is produced from said location is unmatched anywhere in this city. Their food tastes exactly like the street vendors found on winding, mountainous roads in Jamaica. Whenever I eat here I'm immediately transported to my uncle's kitchen in Jamaica esPECially when I have their jerk chicken or oxtail. Granted, there's nowhere to sit down and eat your food once ordered at Jamaican Style Jerk, but there aren't on the streets of Jamaica, either. When you hit the 5th star to review something on Yelp, it says, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" and as far as Jamaican food in Indianapolis goes, this genuinely is as good as it gets. And just typing about it right now is making me want to stop by there this week and grab some oxtail, ripe plantain and rice and peas...
(5)Andrew W.
Jamaican Style Jerk is hands down a new favorite for me. Like others say, don't be scared by the look of the place. The restaurant itself is a partition off of a liquor store with an ordering window and revolving door to exchange currency and food. The gentleman running the window was very courteous, repeating my order as I gave it. And he clearly hails from an area where his product originates. I ordered the 1/4 dark chicken w/ rice and beans and pulled the trigger on trying the Oxtail. The chicken was sensational, cooked to perfection, and was very reasonably priced at 5.25. The jerk sauce was tantalizing, filled with heaps of ginger. The Oxtail was amazing, being very tender and falling off the bone. It was $13.00 for the oxtail, but being a delicacy the price was fairly reasonable. And the red beans and rice were phenomenal. Everything on the menu was very reasonably priced. A whole chicken w rice and beans is 12.50, but on Wednesdays its only 11 bucks. And it serves 4 people. All in all, I will most assuredly be returning.
(5)Aaron H.
MMMMMMM Oh man, this is my new obsession. It is a little awkward to order and pay outside behind pleixglass like at a bank, but it is so worth it. The tender, smoked jerk chicken is perfect and the hot sauce is so flavorful. It's smoky, salty, hot, and tangy. The plantain is really well done, and the peas and rice are tasty too. All this, and it's cheap - about 6 bucks for a lunch combo. Truly tastier food than at most of Indy's foodie spots.
(5)Felicia D.
I feel like I have to consider location when I write some reviews. It's Indianapolis. I don't even know of three Jamaican restaurants here. This one is probably the best that I've tried here. My favorite ever? Far from, but it scratches the itch. It's a tiny little place with no dining area, unless you would like to eat outside with all of the bees. Seriously, I've been attacked by lots of bees while waiting for my food. Aaaaaanyway, you might want to grab it to-go. The staff is very sweet. That's always beautiful. The last time I went, there were no veggies - only plantains and rice and peas. Fine, but womp. They do start to run out of things early, especially jerk chicken. If you want it, go early... or not long after lunch hours. Don't let the location scare you. It is attached to a hood liquor store, but the people who work there seem harmless. :)
(4)J J.
Beef patties were ok but the oxtail peas and rice are official. The store front is just a walk up window and it's in a suspect area but definitely worth the risk. Only tip you better get there early for the oxtail I went 3x and they were sold out. I will be back though the curry goat and jerk is hard to beat
(3)Timothy M.
Best Caribbean/Jamaican in Indy, hands down. The jerk chicken was great and an even better deal. Got a whole bird with rice and peas for $16. Enough to feed 4 people. You can't beat that. The ribs were really good. I don't know how I have passed this place so often without trying them. Don't make the same mistake.
(4)Ann B.
I have had the ribbs, pork chops, oxtails and curry chicken. The "oxtails" are consistantly the best in the tri-state area. I have sampled many different recipes for oxtails, theirs is the best! Their oxtails are even better than than Sweetie Pies in St. Louis! That's pretty darn good. The sides are just okay, nothing stellar but the ribbs can be awesome too. If you want the ribbs get extra jerk sauce. The portions are large enough for two people. If you desire authentic Jamaican cuisine, their oxtails and ribbs will haunt you. Call in your order before you go and prepare for take out. The out door eating environment is not comfortable in that area but you can pick up some Red Stripe next door at the neighborhood liqour store to compliment you meal.
(5)RJ J.
I normally get my Jamaican food in the Bronx and in other parts of NYC. This food was delicious and the service was good. Not bad for Indy.
(5)Lorand M.
Incredibly nice folks...why they don't have a cool little bar....I don't know...however, the food is outstanding ! Sometimes a bit salty for me....but...I don't put salt on anything...thus my taste is going to be ridiculously sensitive to salt,,,,thus what I write relative to the relative saltiness of something should in fact be taken with a grain of salt. The food is very nearly free...and can be free if you run really fast. Superb value...yup...in a neighborhood that is/would be of concern to yelpers out of the safety of the 465...however...everyone you meet in line will be delightful ! If you can talk them out of it....get as much of their BBQ sauce as possible and use it on everything....like ice cream. They really should bottle the stuff and sell it....although in a desalinated version :) These fine folks will also make things not on the menu with sufficient notice. Don't forget a Ginger Beer,..as this really compliments the food !
(4)Allison F.
Don't be scared just because of the location. You'll be greatly rewarded when you order the oxtail and plantains.
(4)Rich H.
On my search for some authentic-tasting Caribbean food, I came across Jamaican Style Jerk. I've passed this place a hundred times, but it never occurred to me to stop? Coulda had something to do with it being attached to a liquor store. So after reading the amazing reviews, I decided to give it a try. The location is facing Keystone Ave and has a bright yellow and green awning, so it's not hard to miss. the menus are laminated and taped onto the sides of a small bank teller-style window. I assume it's bulletproof. The menu is fairly simple, but as a first timer, I was a bit confused. I ordered a quarter white Jerk Chicken. It was a bit hard to hear the guy on the other side. Apparently you need to order it with rice & beans, otherwise it comes alone. I didn't realize this unfortunately so I can only review the chicken. I did order a side of plantains though so at least I got those! The chicken is pretty damn amazing. The chicken had a ton of flavor and was not dry at all. Cooked perfectly. I got the hot sauce that came with it and it was hot but not overpowering. It was served with two slices of white bread. The plantains were well cooked also. Advice: if you want the meal with rice & beans, be sure to ask for it. All in all, this was an amazing experience. The nicest guys, the best food and great prices! I'll be back soon to try the rice & beans and explore the rest of the menu.
(4)Eric M.
Yes! Price: 5/5 * $6.50=1/4 LB Caribbean Jerk white Chicken, rice, beans Food: chicken has great flavor, fresh. Food portions are very generous. Service: guy was nice, food was quick. **No indoor eating*** Overall I will be back to try more! I am not heroes on 5 stars but they got me on my first try.
(5)Tahisha S.
Visited INDY and had to find me some real food.. This place was delicious.. Jerk ribs delicious, rice and peas perfect how I like me rice cook.. Very good vibes..
(4)Jennifer S.
I first experienced Jamaican Style Jerk during an International Supper Club. I didn't realize that this was not an eat in style restaurant, but rather a 'hut' on the side of a liquor store that I'd driven past numerous times. Our group was able to get access to several items that weren't 'regular fare' menu items, namely the Red Snapper and Curried goat. I was amazed at the flavors and quality of food from such a little establishment and raved for days. The opportunity didn't allow for a repeat until just this past weekend. Driving past once again, I pulled over and ordered the family style ribs and the family size chicken. It came with peas and rice as well as several perfectly prepared plantains. I added a Ginger beer and headed home with my 'treats'. We had family in town, and per usual, Papa had to fix something at the house to occupy himself. What better way to show my thanks for his repair services than to offer the best attainable rubbed meat in town. Perfectly seasoned and fall off the bone tender, it was a well deserved reward for a hard days work. In my experience, there is truth in the statement, a way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I've been pretty good at showing my love for the men in my life and this place is the equivalent to several dozens of roses.
(5)Tiffany L.
I ordered a whole Jerk Chicken with a side of peas and rice. The flavor was decent. Honestly, not the best Jerk chicken I've tasted, but this is Indiana, not Florida. I digress. The deal breaker was that the chicken was as dry as the Sahara. The rice, peas and plantains were good, except that for a family of 4 (which is what this was advertised to serve), I don't feel that 1/2 a plantain is adequate. I won't be back, not because it was oh so terrible, moreso because I know that better exists, so I can't bring myself to settle. Now, if I would just apply this same principle to my love life, alas... Once again, I digress.
(2)Angela M.
Great price! Great food! Best ribs I've ever had. Yummy! Rice and beans are great as well. I look forward to trying the chicken!
(5)Suzie T.
We've done PU here a couple of times & enjoyed. We've had their goat, Whole jerk chicken & of course their peas & rice. It is salty but just right on the jerk spices, so have your cold beer ready when you get home. It's attached to a liquor store on S. Keystone. They cook in the parking lot & only have one rickety table & chairs. Some would find this intimidating or undesireable, but to me it's their ambience. The food is great & savory. It seems that many people have found it! They overlook the surroundings & just get it to go. I talked to them yesterday and they will be open thru the winter unless weather is bad !?! -So definitely call ahead to see what that means. You should call anyway before making a trip, as they sometimes sell out early. -Loove that accent!

Whoever has seen me in the last two days has had to deal with my hyperbolic talk of this place, like "THIS IS THE BEST MEAT ON THE PLANET." I'm not kidding. I have traveled far & wide, partly to have and to hold, to find and to experience places like this. There are hundreds of restaurants, bars and stands that I've had a perfect experience. Think of it like movies: there are hundreds upon dozens more movies that I walk away feeling: "that was a perfect movie." But then... there are some that live in my fistful of favorites and get the title: best ever. I've eaten $80 dry aged steaks. "Best Burger in The World." Michelin Starred Chef's five course dinners. Indy's finest dining spots. And street food from San Francisco to Mexico City to Jamaica, and this street food / liquor store stand... is the best food on the planet. I traveled the streets of Jamaica a few years ago... ate at every stand, and yes it was remarkable... but this is, this is Jamaican food / all meats perfected. And I'm talking about their ribs. I have no idea why it took me 18 months to return. A half slab of their pork ribs is more than enough for one. They're served with sauce on their side. I really have no idea what to say at this point other than... you have $9 somewhere... save up for it... and go. I arrived at 1145 and the ribs were ready -- straight from the parking lot smoker.
(5)Chad D.
I've always been a little disappointed in the BBQ available in this town. Jamaican Style Jerk does not belong to that generalization. It's one of the best hole-in-the-wall (literally) establishments I've ever visited. Get some jerk pork or chicken, rice and plantains and let everything in life be OK for awhile.
(4)Joe F.
The location and appearance of the place are seriously lacking. Its basically part of a gas station with a few picnic tables. However looks can be deceiving. The food is great and the portions are huge! Half a chicken, rice, bean, and plantains for around $10. Easily one of the best place around Indy to get jerk chicken.

Great value and very tasty! First visit: I got the combo comes with ALL of the following: 1/4 Chicken was jerk rubbed and cooked in the smoker, comes with your choice of sauce. Jamaican Patty was excellent; meaty and flaky crust - like a Jamaican hot pocket, plantain was perfect and a nice bed of red beans (they call 'em peas) and rice. Get it to go or eat on the picnic table. I'll be back for sure! I went back during the Yelp dinner club - tried about everything, not a bad item on the menu! Goat curry: as good or better than Indian curry, amazing sauce and tender meat, the goat didn't have that "gamey" taste, just perfect. Red Snapper: not on the menu every day so when they have it - get it! Great taste, flaky and flavorful. Ribs: they were beef ribs, jerk rubbed and slow smoked - as good as the BBQ joints in town - a must have! Try it for yourself - the Yelp dinner club and I loved it - every morsel. Well done JSJ!

Liquor store parking lot jerk chicken lunch for $4.50?!?! Hells yes. That pocket change will get you a 1/4 chicken served on a deep bed of rice and peas (beans). I spent an extra buck or so for a Jamaican pineapple "sof drink." I imagine I could've went in the attached LQ for a red stripe or something if I didn't have to go back to work. The chicken is so damn tender, juicy, smokey, and good. Hearing the dude chop the chicken up like he was pissed at it made my day. The rice and peas were a nice side. Oh yeah, it came with a fried plantain too. I had the hot jerk sauce which was a bit salty but still friggin' delicious. They offer a mild and BBQ sauce as well. A couple ladies were sitting at the picnic table eating their ribs (which looked awesome and enormously portioned). They told me they travel pretty much across town to come here for ribs. Ribs for me next time.

I've been to this place several times now, and love it. I'm so happy it even exists. The late, lamented Blue Lagoon in Broad Ripple had good jerk chicken, but I think Jamaican Style Jerk actually beats them. The menu is very stripped down - most of what you might get is meat (sauce on the side, though the meat itself is very flavorful); rice and peas (beans); and a slice of fried plantain. Simple food, totally delicious. I am a big fan of the dark meat chicken to the point that I daydream about it sometimes. For $7 or so you get a large amount of chicken, the sides, and a cup of mild or hot sauce. Go for the hot - it's not spicy enough to burn your eyebrows off, just enough to let you know it's there. The location is weird, seeing as it's just a closet-sized space attached to a liquor store with a smoker in the parking lot. Don't let that deter you. This place is great.

Literally a hole-in-the-wall. Great jerk sauce chicken and ribs. Go for spicy - it's really not that spicy. Starting at $4.50 for a 1/4 chicken dark with rice and beans. Can't beat the price.

Jamaican Style Jerk will always be in my top favorite places of Indianapolis. The ribs are the best and certainly a must have. The chicken, a close second, but don't look past things like ox-tail. Demand the hot-sauce for your ribs. It's unique, full of flavors and is one of the few food items I've actually had dreams about. Rice and "Peas?" Yes Please. (actually, they are beans) Plantains, if no - then what the hell are you doing there? A few of my friends are intimidated by this neighborhood, don't be. This is authentic street-food, uncompromised by faux-ambience, at it's best. You could lift Jamaican Style Jerk with helicopters and ship it back to Jamaica, set it down in a randomly location and it wouldn't change it a bit. And that's what you want, isn't it?

Go early, this place is so good they run out of food pretty quickly....the owner is extremely nice!! Don't worry about the location...no one will bother you if you don't bother them. The food is good and the owner is better!

We were driving down keystone and saw this place. I recommended to my girlfriend we stop but she was reluctant because of the location being attached to the liquor store. I said that means one of two things, it's either excellent or horrible, there would be no in between. My girlfriend has a friend who's from Jamaica so she asked her if the place was any good. A simple "That place is ma spot" made up our minds that we definitely had to go back and try it sometime and it didn't disappoint. The food turned out to be very good and service was friendly and quick. We had the pork and chicken with rice and peas. Both were tender and moist with great tasting sauces. The rice and peas was only mediocre, but all in all it was a great experience. There's only one table outside so it's not a destination but it's great for takeout when your wanting Jamaican bbq.

I'm a long time fan of Patties of Jamaica on Allisonville Road. They're still my favorite, but Jamaican Style Jerk is a delicious change of pace. Their patties (ground beef, chicken or veggie) are rectangular and thicker than Patties of Jamaica. The ground beef patties are delicious - they've been out of the veggie ones everytime I've stopped by. The rice and peas can't hold a candle to Patties of Jamaica's wonderfully subtle version, but they're quite tasty. The fried plantains were perfect - as fine as I've ever had. The staff is friendly and the prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Someone told me of this place and I went the same day. So glad I did. I thought I would enjoy the meat more, but instantly became a fan of the beans. Price is inexpensive. I will definately visit again.

This place is great. I've been dying for jerk chicken ever since Caribbean Flava on 46th Street closed. I've had the jerk chicken and pork, and both are tremendous. Served with Jamaican-style rice and beans and fried plantains, it also comes with a side of jerk sauce (I always ask for the hot). Love it! I'll probably go here once a week... it really is the perfect meal.

Wow, I dreamed that I reviewed this place. Since ya'll aren't in my dreams, I'll recap here. Once I found out that Jamaican Style Jerk was otherwise known as 'the carryout place on 34th and Keystone attached to the liquor store that used to be a Shell' I knew I had to stop there. I picked up some curried goat, rice and peas and plantains (I asked specifically about them), plus a ginger beer. I was on my way to work, and didn't sample it until I got there, and it was on and popping after that. Super awesome curry, perfectly cooked meat, and I couldn't stop eating. Oh goodness, I couldn't stop! My mom stopped through randomly and I gave her my plate, with the exhortation to get it out of my sight so I could stop eating and start working. She did- and that was the last I saw of my curry, sniff. She said the rice was calling to her. All I know is, it's calling to me, and I want to answer! The only reason that a 5 star wasn't given is that their hours are short, but that's a minor pick. Go! Eat! Love!

After reading the reviews decided this was a great place to take a major meat craving and wow was it! We ordered a half slab of ribs, white meat jerk chicken and chicken curry to round out our taste test. The rice and peas of course (and sorry to correct y'all but they are peas and not beans very similar to the crowder or lady peas we have down south. Contrary to popular belief all peas are not green.) an order of plantains and plenty of hot jerk sauce. I only wish more people had been explicit about the size of the portions. My husband and I ate like pigs and still have enough left over for at least another meal if not two. The hot jerk sauce was very tasty, even thought it was not quite as hot as I hoped it would be. Oh, and of course we washed it down with Ting (refreshing grapefruit soda) and a pineapple soda for my husband. The service was friendly and decently fast and we will definitely be repeat customers. We so much prefer to spend our food dollars supporting local businesses.
