We spent two nights at this hotel during a recent trip to Indy. It wasn't terrible, but was far from a 'nice' hotel. The walls were so thin I heard and understood every conversation my neighbors had. The hotel did have a nice gym, but that was the only above average part of the stay.

I was staying at this hotel for a convention recently. The rooms are a little over $100 each for a basic double, and the lobby area is VERY nice, so I expected it to be a classy place to stay. However, our first room was CRAWLING with insects; there were ants in the bathroom and on the carpet in the bedroom, and a centipede on the wall above the mirror. We called to the front desk and they switched us to another room--- this one had a HORRIBLE chemical smell and we had to blast the A/C the entire time to keep the air circulating. The rooms are not soundproofed very well so you hear EVERYTHING your neighbors are doing at all hours. My roommate and I were working at the convention, and both of our attempts to eat at the restaurant was a joke. The first time (dinner) they were busy but not slammed, and we were seated quickly. However, after almost 20 minutes no one came to even take our drink order despite tables around us receiving their service, so we left. The next day we tried it again for breakfast and ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. We told the waitress that we only had an hour before we had to be at work, so she promised to go put our food in right away. Forty-five minutes later she returned and told us that a bunch of room service orders had come in and they had been bumped ahead of our order, so our food hadn't even begun to get made yet. We were infuriated--- 45 minutes to scramble eggs and fry up some bacon and they couldn't even do that for paying customers? She offered us a shot at the buffet table ($17 a person), which HAD those items on it--- she could've just gone and scooped them onto a plate for us and charged us that way! We didn't want the overpriced buffet, we just wanted a quick breakfast before work. Again, we left without paying--- the food service here is a joke. Our room's smell only got worse as the convention went on, and there was some kind of chemical or allergen used because both of us got very sick with sore throats and coughing as well as dried-out sinuses from having to run the air conditioning all night. However, the hotel was completely booked so we were unable to move to any other room. We heard multiple convention goers complaining of spiders or ants in their rooms as well, and many of the staff complained of sticky, foul-smelling carpets in their room. No idea what's up with this hotel but I am glad that I'm not a local and likely won't have to stay here again anytime soon. VERY disappointed for the price we paid.

This Mariott is very nice. I've only attended conferences here, but have done so multiple times. I have always found the place to be clean, and the staff is absolutely excellent. Needless to say, they work very hard. The food has always been good, but not excellent. However, I would never expect an excellent banquet lunch.

The new JC Marriott in Indy is amazing. The staff goes above and beyond to help people and the room was always in excellent shape. Would have liked to have the ice machines on my floor, but the very upscale workout facility makes it all worthwhile.

I have mixed feelings about this Marriott. I only stayed one night so I didn't get to get to see everything the hotel had to offer. However, they are undergoing major renovations so a lot of things are closed off or moved to a different area. For instance, the hotel restaurant was open but rather than a typical dining area a conference room was used. The room was very nice and the staff incredibly helpful. One interesting thing of note was the shower. Rather than a tub with a shower head there was a very large shower stall. The entire bathroom itself was very well done and looked newer than the rest of the room, so I guess it was part of the renovations. Overall not the best place I've stayed but certainly not the worst. Better than most, but nothing incredibly stellar. Maybe it will be much better once the renovations are completed.

Great food in the bar...far better than you would expect. The salad with goat cheese and the asparagus (either preparation) were fantastic. Very comfortable, clean rooms with LARGE tvs. They made me want to get a bigger TV at home. I wish the weather had been better so I could enjoy the patio.

I didn't stay at this Marriott, but ate dreadful meals there. The first meal I ordered was a cheeseburger with mushrooms. I requested no bun, no onion strings, no condiments as I am allergic to wheat. The first time it came with all three. The second, without most of the onion strings, and with all of the condiments. They had just put another piece of cheese on the burger and put it back on the grill so it still had pieces of bun and condiment under the cheese. It was burned. The third time, they redid the burger, put the condiments on the plate but on the side, and poured the wheat based gravy all over the burger. The four time, the burger still had condiments on it, but everything else was on the side. REALLY? This was a $14 burger.......dreadful. My other meals were not any better. Avoid this place at all costs. The diner, "Four Seasons," is walking distance (around the corner), and much better quality.

This is normally one of my favorite hotels, but I sure didn't feel like a Platinum Member this time around. My room was so small I needed a shoe horn to get in. You can't pull the desk chair out all the way because of the bed behind you. You can use the sink, toilet, and shower without ever moving from one spot. Oh, and the TV didn't work either, I had to call for service to get it going again (a cable line was unplugged). But the worst part of the room was the location. It faced the service drive to the convention center. And apparently the best tme to set up the convention center is late at night/early morning. So the noise of fork lifts going back and forth went on til past midnight. And no need to worry about a wake-up call because the garbage truck emptying the dumpster will get you up at 2:45 am. My worst stay ever.

Where do I start? I started my first day with a new company today. I woke up this morning feeling so sick and had to drive 9 hours to get to the Marriott. When I arrived at this hotel I was exhausted and felt miserable!! I travel a lot for work, and if you are like me you know how miserable it can be to be sick and away from home. My body ached and I had that headache with every fast movement. I was checking in and the woman (I think Amanda) realized that I didn't feel well. She said to me, "If you need anything, orange juice or anything feel free to give us a call." I've been traveling full time for about 8 years and have never heard anything like that before. So...I got my room keys and made my way out to my car. The hotel was under construction so there was no "main" entrance for me to bring in my things. I was at my car unloading my humidifier, suitcase, etc when a random worker came to my car with a luggage cart. He loaded all of my things and showed me to my room then unloaded it all. I'm telling you what, it was so nice to have this treatment after the way I felt today. Ready for the kicker!? So this evening I was chilled. I turned on my heat but cold air was blowing out. I called the desk - they are sending someone right up. When I went to take the "do not disturb" sign off the handle, there was a bag hanging from my door. It was from the hotel. It contained orange juice, Tylenol, NyQuil, Bayer, and snacks!!!!! After all of this treatment, it was worth my time to say a few nice things here on Yelp about this hotel. Thank you to this Marriott for going out of their way to make me feel comfortable.

We stayed here for two nights in May to visit family. It just wasn't good. The breakfast buffet was terribly expensive. Our room was loud and over looked the highway. The airconditioning unit kicked in every 45 minutes or so and was terribly loud. The hotel was jam packed with a traveling soccer kids. I wouldn't stay again.

Visiting the restaurant in May of 2012 was a delight. Food was outstanding as were the signature cocktails. In returning in March of 2013 the restaurant was a complete disappointment. Our server knew nothing and her response was that banquets and the restaurant are now combined and there were alot of changes taking place. Service was slow and we were put in a conference like room. I will not be going back there again.

You'll love it here! Stayed for 3 nights while on business in Indy recently - the friendly service, beautiful room, nice fitness center and deliciious food (try the shrimp appetizer!) were fantastic. Try it next time you need a hotel in Indy.

This is an average hotel with a friendly front desk staff and an awesome concierge level staff. Hotel was being renovated but did not seem to be an inconvenience. The pool was nice and big and so was the jacuzzi but unfortunately the jets were not working when were there. The towels for the pool are small and thin. The courtyard area in the middle of the hotel is a nice with plenty of tables and chairs to relax in.

The rooms are beautiful, comfortable etc. but my family and I pretty much only saw the inside of the toilets after eating in their restaurant. After having the chicken quesadilla, all three of us were violently ill all night, to the point where we had to go to Urgent Care for shots. I realize that food poisoning can happen anywhere, but the staff at the Marriott didn't seem to care about our 8+ hours of hell enough to even recommend an Urgent Care to us.

We didn't get food poisining, but we were here for a three day convention. First day at the restaurant, wait staff was extremely dis oriented, kept running back and forth, but forgot simple things like a spoon for your soup! Second day was the worst, we made it through breakfast and lunch ok, but then we made the mistake of thinking about getting dinner. They would not even seat you, an they had alot of empty tables, and YOU HAD TO WAIT TO BE SEATED. They claimed the kitchen was behind due to being overwhelmed with the crowds. We finally got seated after going to front desk and speaking to a manager, because the restaurant staff said they would get a manager and that was another 20 minutes, with no manager in sight. We got served and were out of there in 20 minutes after finally being seated after a 45 minute wait. We spoke to other people, and there are one party seated before us, and 1 hour later they were still waiting for their wat staff to take their order in 5 minutes was what she told them. YIKES, we won't be going back. Rooms were great, newly remodeled, facilities were in good shape, but no way will I eat at this place again.

A fabulous place to stay! Very comfortable rooms and pleasant grounds - pool, large patio with comfortable seating. Very friendly staff. Restaurant server Travis is especially friendly and takes pride in his work. Great job! The hotel is undergoing a large renovation, but it is still definitely. Comfortable.

Wow, had not been to Marriott East in a few years. Had to be there this afternoon/ evening for a board training. Great transformation! Very nice meeting room. Good buffet dinner ( gluten free options). Not that I was able to use it, but the lobby bar was totally happening at 8 pm when our training let out. Lots of energy!

Checked in late on a Sunday night after a 9hr drive. We were for some reason booked for a king room and the gentleman Rob at the desk spent 5min staring at the screen trying to find a room for us. He was extremely nice and engaging and the hotel was relatively empty but despite being an Elite rewards member we were put on the 2nd floor in an old room that had not been renovated. The room itself is very dated but was overall comfortable. The bathroom is tiny, with barely any room between the toilet and the bathtub. Even the shower in the bathtub is so low that I could not even get under it despite only being 5'8. The Beds are very comfortable and the a/c works very well. There is a good selection on TV channels. Overall the hotel does have some nice are areas including the lobby and the courtyard area. I would have liked to see the updated rooms.

I attended an event in one of the conference rooms this past weekend. Finding new event spaces is always interesting. The space was OK. Service was around thought the event and worked hard to serve the guests. There was an area to dance, hang up coats, have an open bar and areas to have appetizers. There is also a great space outside of the room to have a check-in area. If you are looking for a small-to-medium room to have an organizational event or wedding reception, etc, this may be the place for you.

The bar is fun, recently renovated and a great area to catch up with friends. The beer selection on draft is local which was perfect to try brews unique to the region. Lunch has a limited menu but some good go-to items including their French onion soup and seasonal salads. Also try the ahi tuna entree!

First time staying over night in Indianapolis & if it was not a business trip I'm not sure I would have picked the Marriott myself but I'm glad they did. The room is actually more than what I expected and I love their outdoor space.

The Marriott East is a great conference facility and hotel. I was there to attend a work-related leadership summit. The conference facilities are top notch and the food is good, but not great. My double room was smaller than I expected, even compared to mid-range hotels I've stayed at. The bathroom was also small. It really is only just enough space for two people - four people would be crowded. I wasn't able to spend a lot of time exploring the area, but I didn't see a lot of shopping or restaurants, but there are some. You would need to drive to get to anything nearby, and downtown Indy is not that far. The property itself is good enough to recommend for a conference, meeting, or even a personal stay. But you will have to travel a bit for any substantial shopping or dining.

Staff very friendly and helpful they get a 5 star, rooms clean, nothing special. The restaurant is one to stay away from, nothing special or new, high priced and nothing to back it up. Drinks were expensive and not well made. I don't mind paying $10+ for a good martini.......but it has to be good.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a weekend convention (Friday - Sunday). The main complaints I have with this hotel is with the housekeeping staff and the Skylight Bistro and Wine Bar. Firstly, the housekeeping staff seems to be rushing through each of the rooms. They neglected to clean the bathroom sink to acceptable hotel standards, leaving a lemon wedge in the sink. Marriott asks its guests to "tip" the housekeeping staff. If they would do their jobs correctly, the first time -- perhaps. The Front Desk graciously comped the one night of the stay, and added 10,000 points to my account. That was nice of them. The second complaint comes from the Skylight Bistro and Wine Bar's, mainly, for not knowing how to properly cook breakfast sausage links thoroughly. Also the cook preparing the omelets appeared to not know how to make an omelet. I most likely got a bad case of food poisoning from the sausage links I ate for breakfast on that Saturday morning. The only bright spot was one of their waiters, Daniel, who waited on me and my companion for our dinners. Daniel was very attentive to our needs. He would do anything to make our experience one to remember.

Was here for work - and (for whatever it's worth) I think I'd have a better opinion if I was one of those "drive in, park, stay inside & order from room service until it's time to leave" types. Dated and depressed is the best I can offer. In a shitty neighborhood. A shitty neighborhood for Indy, which is not exactly known for effective planning and zoning. I was here to attend a conference working with folks for whom concerns about basic personal safety are exceptional. I have no earthly idea how the organizers could have knowingly selected this location. Terrible idea. Literally unfathomable. Staff tried to be helpful...but when the neighborhood amenities are what these are...not much mitigation is possible. I spent more time reassuring attendees than anything else; though since my room smelled funny, a fumigation and a dusting was needed and there were strobing lights coming in from the parking lot, my reassurances had limited efficacy. Everything was old, often smelly, and way more well-intentioned than received. Just hope I'm not expected to go back, work-wise, next year;

The upgrades to this hotel are great. From the outside it just looks like your average Marriott which from my experiences can be a really good thing or a really disappointing experience. The restaurant is nice and open in the front lobby. Nice long bar with 3 flat screen TVs to allow you to watch games or whatever your heart desires. All wait staff was extremely kind, attentive and friendly. Food was delicious (especially the Oysters on the half shell and I'm picky!) The front desk was nothing less. I was checked in promptly & given directions twice to get to my room (it was a little bit of a walk through the conference center which as a solo female could be scary). Arrived to room, clean and simple. Plenty of plugs to get electronics juiced up. Everything you need for an overnight stay on the road.

My girlfriend and I came here for a conference. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room that the conference was held in accommodated everyone very well. I liked that coffee was offered with pastries and fruit. The meal served at lunch was heavy on gluten. When we requested a gluten free lunch they gave you the same thing (sandwich meat, vege, and cheese) and said to just avoid the bread on the table. Ummm it was totally weird eating sandwich stuff with no bread at a conference.

Room was clean, bed was comfortable. I heard from a guest staying there that they just completed a big renovation, the lobby is very nice, there is a nice big glass fireplace, and a big bar area behind it with big screen tvs. The breakfast was very expensive, I had a small glass of fresh orange juice and that alone was $6, for a very small glass, the rest of the breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular so $25 for myself for a regular breakfast seems like a lot to me. The ambiance was nice, and the hotel has a nice contemporary feel.

I am on the fence between a 3 and 4 here. I helped coordinate a conference here recently and have mixed feelings. Some of this may improve with the finishing of their renovations. This is going to be long. Here's the breakdown: Location: Not incredibly close to the airport, which was slightly inconvenient for out of town presenters. While it's not a long drive from downtown and areas to go out, there really isn't anywhere to go out nearby. Parking isn't really enough to host several events at once. Staff: The staff was by far the best part of the experience. Super helpful, always prompt (especially the tech staff for the conference rooms), very responsive, and very patient. Even the other staff I walked by greeted me every time they saw me. Conference Facilities: The good news is that there are bountiful conference spaces with rooms that can be divided or connected into one large room. The good news is also the bad news, because this means that your event might be competing with 1-2 other events, and the participants of the other event might be loud and always mingling outside your conference rooms and making it hard to hear. The kitchen was unfortunately quite loud and connected to the rooms we had, and was also distracting. We did notify the staff on the first day and they tried to correct it. There is also a lovely outdoor patio area where we had our reception- this was probably my favorite part. Food: The food was fine, nothing to knock my socks off, but then again, I wasn't in charge of ordering. Rooms: Nice, but oddly organized. Clearly they had one or two previous renovations where they added more rooms, resulting in a "tower" of newer rooms on one end that are not at all connected with the rest of the rooms on the other end of the building. TV channel selection was pretty bare. Other facilities: nice pool and hot tub area. Didn't make it to the gym this time.

I've never stayed here but have been here for the past 5 years for a conference. The hotel is relatively clean, although the decor in the conference area is very dated. The staff seem on top of serving, quickly removing items from attendees tables when empty. I enjoy the breakfast of eggs, bacon, and hash browns. I've never liked the pasta lunch that we usually have the first day of conference. The pasta is usually over cooked and watery and the sauces are never good. I usually tend to load up on salad and dessert which is usually excellent. I was concerned about the look of the water dispensers in each conference room. They were very dirty.

Yea... Between a 3-4 review.. First, I think this location is way better than the Marriott Indy North. The outside is a bit dated at this hotel but the insides have been redone. The bar is great. The rooms and good and this place usually seems to have a lower rate because it's not in the greatest part of Indy. When I was here there was a billiards convention. Oh man... Talk about a freak show.. That was some pretty entertaining people watching while sucking down cold brews at the bar.

If I could give it no stars, I would. To start, even though each day was charged on my fiance's card housekeeping would come around and tell me that we only paid for the previous night and had to check out now. My fiance was here for work so I was the only one in the room. After I explained that all nights were paid up front the woman stormed off and said "I go check, I go check." This happened each day that we stayed here, Thurs-Sun. The same can be said about the Internet. The "high speed" Internet was included in our rate but each day when I'd call the front desk, they'd send me over to Tech Support who would the connect me back to the front desk after saying "well it must not be included in your rate then." Each day my fiance had to call the front desk and complain about what's going on. Stay downtown if you can, avoid this hotel like the plague.

I spent my time at the Marriott East in the convention area for the Starbase Indy con. The convention center was nice, but seems to be in need of a spruce up. Updates all around, furniture, fixtures, room layout could all be renovated. Having said that, there was plenty of space and many different room sizes to choose from. The Con was utilizing most to all of the spaces and the hotel was supporting the event nicely. The hotel staff was friendly and many staff members came thru the various halls asking visitors how they were and checking on needs. If I was having a convention in the Indy area, I would seriously look into this hotel.

I'll freely admit that I didn't want to like this place. I avoid Marriott properties as much as possible...honestly, because I can't stand the family's politics (okay, not a reason to avoid their product....but....) and everything I heard about this hotel told me it was in a part of town you only spend time in if you've lost a bet. With that as my background "issues".... The hotel is indeed in a part of town that's lovely to avoid...lots of bad chain restaurants and hotels with that "if we thought you'd be staying all night we would've changed the sheets sometime this week" feel. If, like me, you're spending 4 nights there for a work-related conference, be prepared to rent a car and spend as much time away from this neighborhood as possible. However, the hotel was quite lovely. It's a bit of a rambling maze; there are old sections and new sections and meeting rooms and conference rooms and no real order to any of them, but the place was clean and well-appointed, the staff was helpful (for the third time since I've been going to Indy since mid-April, my laundry was lost by the hotel...the staff was incredibly helpful and easy-to-deal with and made the situation right), and, shockingly, they had a fitness center that didn't look like a prison weight room. In short, the hotel itself was quite nice...the neighborhood it's in ensured I did my morning run at a solid 30 seconds/mile faster than usual.

Was here for work - and (for whatever it's worth) I think I'd have a better opinion if I was one of those "drive in, park, stay inside & order from room service until it's time to leave" types. Dated and depressed is the best I can offer. In a shitty neighborhood. A shitty neighborhood for Indy, which is not exactly known for effective planning and zoning. I was here to attend a conference working with folks for whom concerns about basic personal safety are exceptional. I have no earthly idea how the organizers could have knowingly selected this location. Terrible idea. Literally unfathomable. Staff tried to be helpful...but when the neighborhood amenities are what these are...not much mitigation is possible. I spent more time reassuring attendees than anything else; though since my room smelled funny, a fumigation and a dusting was needed and there were strobing lights coming in from the parking lot, my reassurances had limited efficacy. Everything was old, often smelly, and way more well-intentioned than received. Just hope I'm not expected to go back, work-wise, next year;

Exceptionally clean rooms! Very impressed with this Marriott. Friendly staff, secure rooms and floors, great complimentary breakfast and beautiful outdoor patio. I will definite recommend to friends traveling to Indiana.

FLEA infested Stayed here a few weeks ago, and woke up the next morning covered in flea bites. Still have some unsightly scars on my stomach from those parasites. I stay at a lot of Marriotts and this is the only property that I will never be staying at again.
