Was there for .50 cent taco night, Tuesdays, and will be going again. I've been to this place a few times and every time I not only have gotten a quality meal, but their drink specials are also fantastic. The Rubens are out of this world, steak is tender, chili is great and tacos are awesome. Every day is a different food and drink special. Only thing is you smell like smoke when you leave but it's worth it. Some days are worse than others...

Went on Friday night for the bacon-wrapped filet special. Comes with salad, potato, and Texas toast. Good food for a deal of a price. The waitress was so pleasant, and the service was prompt. The drinks were well made at a reasonable price tag. We will be back to try out the other specials, especially the prime rib on Saturday's. This is more of a neighborhood mainstay where if you go early, you'll find a more quiet, laid back crowd in for a few drinks after work and maybe dinner. If you go late, you may find a livelier, rowdy crowd depending on the the night and the hour. The effort is not in the aesthetics of the place because they are putting their best foot forward where it matters, the food and the service. It's true that it's known to be haunted, but we did not encounter any paranormal activity this time. Can always hope for the next!

The tenderloin is the best I've had in this state! It's a nice, hidden dive in the middle of a busy city, and while it's not for everybody, if you can get past the outside appearance, great food awaits you inside! Come on a night with live music for the full experience!

The Gaslight is very much a local watering hole with a lot of interesting history. I stopped in recently for live music and to hang out with friends. I didn't have a meal this time. I have eaten here before, and they have pretty good food for a neighborhood bar - a cut above average, I'd say.

I read a review about Fried Tenderloin sandwiches in Indianapolis and Gaslight Inn was a Chicago Tribune pick. Works for me! They did not disappoint. I got there just after the lunch rush, was greeted by Amber who hit it out of the park with her Midwest hospitality. $1.25 domestics on the day I was there (really?). Let's talk about the Tenderloin sandwich. Perfection. It was the size of a 45 RPM single, perfectly breaded and fried and seasoned to a turn. Served on a toasted bun with all the right accompaniments on the side. I upgraded to some delicious onion rings, which Amber suggested I pair with the chipotle mayo dipping sauce. Good call! I probably could have cut the sandwich in half and been happy but I just couldn't stop. Ate. It. All. I was driving back from a family visit in Michigan to Nashville and actually had to stop at a rest area and slip into a PID (Pork Induced Coma) for an hour before I could continue. Gaslight is definitely a neighborhood kind of place, steeped in haunted history. Amber shared the John Dillinger story, as well as the fact that there are tens of thousands of bodies buried close by (the place is surrounded by old cemeteries) and I guess it has been featured on a TV show about hauntings. All that aside, if you are looking for an amazing rendition of a Midwest classic you can stop. Looks like I will be making more trips to MI in the near future, looks like I found my new go-to.

As I approached the building...it looked sketchy. Walking in...looked sketchy. But definitely go in! It's definitely a local bar, which has been stated over and over again in reviews. That being said, the bartender was attentive to everyone equally. Now the food....I ordered the tenderloin, cuz that's apparetly what you do in Indiana. I could not have picked a better first taste of this local delicacy. Fantastic! The meat was juicy, not fatty, the breading was not too thick and was delightfully crunchy. I upgraded to onion rings for $1.50, because it was Monday and you have to beat the Monday blues somehow. To further my Monday therapy I ordered peanut butter pie for dessert. While my diet was completely ruined...TOTALLY WORTH IT! With all that food, I didn't even break $15. They also do music several times a week. Nutshell: Food=Outstanding, Music+Food=Freaking Epic, location...ehhh, but not ehhh enough to not stop in.

This place is a blast. 2 minutes after I sat down, a fight nearly broke out next to me. The offending party decided to leave the bar so no brawl that night. Thank goodness, I really didn't feel like running for my life or getting my a** kicked. After that I planned my escape route and nervously waited for my friend to arrive to protect me lol. Parking on the curb next to the building or in the lot in the back are easy to access and when I got there on a Sunday early evening, it wasn't too full. The back door entrance opens into where a pool table and a few tables are. Continue through and you find the 'main bar' area. We ordered the special which was a bucket of beers (5) and a large 1 topping pizza for $15. Great prices on beer and liquor, sign of a good dive! The bartender was very nice and helpful. Didn't see any ghosts, just a few interesting people. I'm sure we'll be back.

Love this place. Relaxed atmosphere and good quality food. Drinks very reasonably priced and friendly clientele. There is definitely paranormal activity in the basement -- I've toured it three times. Great place for a group gatherings. Exceptional service and really like how the owner has cared for this place.

Gaslight Inn haunted? Well, I haven't witnessed any ghostly apparitions yet but I've certainly seen some scary people at Gaslight. But, that's just part of the charm. Seriously, this place is a new fave of mine. The service has always been friendly and food/drinks are served promptly. And, there's food & drink specials available daily. I think every time I've been in there's a $10 beer bucket special. And, where Gaslight really excels is with their food. So far, I can really vouch for their delicious burgers with ample toppings and their fried catfish is absolutely perfect. But, their signature menu item is the breaded tenderloin which they pound & bread by hand. This is definitely one of the best I've had. And, I was born & raised in Indiana so I've sampled A LOT of breaded tenderloins. Gaslight is a dimly lit dive bar with wobbly tables and flooring that should have been replaced years ago. But, again, I think that is part of the charm about this place. I'm quickly becoming a regular.

Went on a Friday night for catfish. First time there and familiar with the reviews. Catfish was very good. However, the odd smell of the room and the floor ( which looked like it hadn't seen a mop in weeks) ruined the experience. A little updating sure wouldn't hurt.

Dive bar with good food. I had the fried catfish last night. Huge portions, perfectly spiced, delicious! And I'm not usually a catfish fan!

I enjoyed this. It felt, more or less, like walking into a time warp dive bar / local hangout 20 years past. This observation is nothing but compliment. The burger was tasty, but the chili was really fantastic - really. If I lived a little closer, I'd spend more time here, preferably in the afternoon drinking Blue Ribbons, become a regular.

Totally Awesome! Searched for best pork tenderloin in Indy and we found it! Do not let the out of the way location scare you off. The building is 140 years old . May seem sketchy but everyone was very friendly, My husband and i are senior citizens and we totally loved this place. Down home local bar with great food and all deserts are homemade to die for!

Love this place! Clearly a favorite with the locals, steeped in history and has excellent food! A bacon wrapped filet, salad and twice baked potato on Fridays for under $12...yes please! The tenderloin is as good or better than any I've tried in the city and the catfish is perfectly breaded and seasoned. Supposedly frequented by Dillinger back in the day and home to some freaky paranormal activity as well. I can't vouch for either of those claims, but the stories are pretty cool. If you're looking for a divey bar with great food, cheap food and drink prices and colorful clientele, look no further. You will not be disappointed!

one word, and it's not haunted. the word is bland. smelled a little of paint and i did see some supplies, so maybe it's under "renovation". plain walls, not much interaction between groups.empty back room, and boring colors throughout. there on popular/busy nights, but did leave before 10pm, so maybe it's a late night bar. enter through the rear door from parking lot and there is large room with a pool table and one very large mirror. walk east and you'll enter the main bar. rectangular bar with seating on three sides. boring bar back with a window frame, TV, & bottles/shelves. black padded stools with back support. around 12 or so stools. kind of empty space in corner opposite the bar on the SW side behind the large brick support. past the bar is a mix of high & low tables. also where the musical artist will set up if there is one. bar itself is wood laminate with no rail. brass rail foot rest. hanging lights over the bar & elsewhere make gaslight a well lit bar. i must be missing something and will try again.

My husband and I came here on a Sunday evening after driving through the whole cemetery and into the small lot behind the 125-year-old building. There were several people inside watching a football game and drinking. We sat down at the bar and I ordered a Midnight Mixer, which is one of the "Frozen Ghost" cocktails they were selling for $5. It was purple and tasty. I later had a Caramel Apple drink that was also pleasant. For dinner I ate a corned beef sandwich with fries. Probably shouldn't have ordered it with white bread when I could've had it in a hoagie bun, but oh well. My husband had a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich, which was delicious, juicy, correctly seasoned, and fried without too much grease. The bartender was friendly and attentive. We did not encounter any ghosts.

The pork tenderloin sandwich was outstanding. We are Hoosier natives but moved away many years ago. On a recent trip back we went searching for a real Indiana pork tenderloin sandwich. We found it. This is a neighborhood dive bar. A working mans bar. The bar room floor was grungy but I peaked in the kitchen and it was spotless. The bar was busy ( it was $1.00 domestic beer night) but the waitress was fast, friendly, and efficient.

A great little place. Friendly bartender and one of the very best burgers in town. Can't wait to get back and try the catfish, and maybe a steak.

While looking for a place for dinner in Indy on our drive to Chicago from Florida I ran across Gaslight Inn on a number of articles online about the best pork tenderloin sandwiches you can only find in the Midwest. Rembering past state and county fairs where they are always popular I was on a mission to find the best. I succeeded!!! And with flying colors. Gaslight is about a mile west of I-65 on the south end of Indy so it's easy to get to. It's a typical old neighborhood that's a place you parents and grandparents would hang out at. There were about 10 friendly locals there when we walked in. We sat at the bar and the bartender/waitress was very friendly. Now for the best part, we both ordered breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches, they were served quickly and hot. Both were thick and gigantic and extremely tender and tasty. Best piece of pork tenderloin I have ever had. Gaslight will be a stop on all future trips to Indy or Florida. Stop here, you will be hooked just as I am.

I'm really throwing out the five stars lately, but this place is pretty cool. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but a lot of historic bars are that way because at some point, very old buildings become difficult to preserve except with aluminum siding (which I'm not a fan of, but I understand). This place has a nice bar area and pretty nice woodwork inside. The moldings are like you'll only see built in the Midwest 100 years ago. It's pretty cool that this is sort of an undiscovered neighborhood bar. I.e., it is still working class and hasn't become trendy... I supposed my yelping about it will help ruin it by bringing it to the attention of hipsters. The menu was typical bar food but they are known for their tenderloin. I enjoyed it quite bit. It was thick, and tasted like a pork chop... The crust was crunch and the meat was juicy. It was well seasoned and the bun was good. My only complaint would be that the onion rings were soggy. The onion almost seemed to disintegrate inside of the crust.

Veteran owned, this place is a little Gem! Great lunch and drink specials everyday keeps me coming back to this oasis south of downtown. The tenderloin has praises and rave reviews from publications throughout the Midwest. Great place to eat and drink with friends.

I've been here several times, and over the last couple of years, they keep improving. The breaded tenderloin is one of the best in the city, the service is prompt and friendly, and the prices are quite the bargain! It's definitely a neighborhood watering hole...LOTS of regulars here, but, even if you've never been, you'll be greeted warmly. The Gaslight has had some tough times in the past, to be sure. But the current owner is a heck of a nice guy and has really turned this into a gem of a place.
