The service was ok, the food was fair but all the add on's caused the price to be $54 when we eat more at other Mexican restaurants for less!! There were only two adults that ate a meal, another that had beans only and a child's meal! The actual meals weren't badly prices but there were so many little extras it added up, they charger $7.99 for queso & $3.49 for half an avocado! We will drive further to get better food at a WAY better price. As I paid I said this is ridiculous for what we had and she said yea it's high priced, I only get tacos if I eat here!!! Really!?!?

Good food. Nice staff. Awesome Queso. However, I would not order anything with shrimp. IDK where they buy their shrimp but it is disgusting.

I love this place. Really. We ve been eating here since we moved to Lawrence in 1999. This El Rodeo seems "better" than the Rest of the ones I've tried. It's just a favorite, bargain priced, good basic Mexican or tex mex choices and if u know how to ask for it, they make a kick ass marg. fast, good, friendly, cheap, near home, what more could a guy ask for???!!!! Seriously, I know this ain't fine dining, but I have always loved it!!!

Very good Mexican cuisine. El Jaripeo is in the same family of restaurant chains, and the menus and food are comparable. The interior is okay; nothing special. Very family-friendly but almost to the point that it can be loud and kind of obnoxious at times. Service is fast, and the ultimate margaritas are yummy! That's about all I ask in a Mexican joint. A good middle-of-the-week inexpensive meal right around the corner.

I've given this place three chances and I may or may not be going back. The first time it took a minute to get seated; the staff seemed to be in a constant whirlwind despite not having many customers, but the food was decent. The second time was around a holiday so I didn't expect much, haha. The food was still decent so I figured I'd give it another shot later. Recently a friend and I went in, stood there for a few minutes, looked around trying to figure out who was doing the seating...nothing. There were plenty of servers running around, but we couldn't get anybody's attention to figure out how to get seated. A group came in behind us and an employee suddenly sprang up out of nowhere and went to seat them. I don't have the patience for that kind of crappy service so when a member of that group pointed out the issue to the oblivious employee I told her to forget it and we left. I thought with the recent legal issues they might be trying to keep their customer base up but maybe not. I'm super disappointed since this place is close to where I just moved to and the food really wasn't bad at all - just the service, of lack thereof. Maybe I'll give them one more shot at some point since this doesn't seem normal based on other reviews of the place.

I come to this place all the time and we really feel like home here. All the wait stuff greet us like old friends and the food isn't always perfect, but it sure is the best mexican place in Indy in my opinion. I usually get the chicken fajitas and will occasionally get a taco and an enchilada meal they have (#6 I believe).

El Rodeo is our favorite on the north side. Great service & great food! The carnitas dinner is amazing as is the Texas margarita. Javier and Raul are awesome! Highly recommend!

Great Mexican food! We are from OK and are in town for a wrestling tournament. We decided to visit Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the afternoon and discovered this restaurant on the way back to the hotel! The margarita was actually tequila instead of all mix! The food was actual Mexican cuisine and not Tex-Mex, which was completely what we were looking for! Great variety on their menu and pretty good menu on their drink menu! Fast and friendly service was also great! Food came out very quickly and was really good! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Indy and in the area. Don't be fooled by location or potentially empty looking parking lot! It was a little busier than it looked when we went inside!

I usually order the three tacos and a cup of the dipping cheese and share with my kids. It's just enough food. It's quick in and out if you are in a hurry or a great place to linger over margarittas with friends. We always see friends and neighbors when we stop in. It's a great neighborhood destination.

This place has an extensive menu with reasonable prices. While the service is not always the best (especially if they are really busy), the food is good and comes up quickly if you're pressed for time. I love the chips and salsa!

El Rodeo on Fox Road is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. I know it is part of a chain, but everything is just right. The atmosphere is great. The art on the walls is spectacular. The service is always quick and friendly. I have been here several times, and when I first started I would always get something new. Nothing was ever a disappointment. The chips and salsa are always tasty. I usually get a bowl of queso as well, and it is very good. If you are looking for a big meal, I would get the fajitas. They give you enough to feed two, maybe even three people. The veggies and meat are seasoned just right, and cooked to perfection. I have actually eaten the entire meal before. My absolute favorite item on the menu is the burrito loco. This giant burrito comes with steak AND chicken, peppers, onions, and is covered in queso and sour cream. Along with rice and beans, this is a filling meal and tastes amazing. I have never had a bad experience here. You can't go wrong if you are looking for some good Mexican!

Of course El Rodeo is well known throughout the midwest, so this review doesn't discuss the restaurant chain in general, just this particular location. It's located in a strip center in the Oaklandon/Geist area. There is plenty of parking and the signage is easily seen. Ok, we're done looking at the building, lets go inside and check this place out. It's dim inside. This is great for dinner, but made me curious as to whether or not they brightened the lights during the lunch hour. I don't go on many lunch dates, so I'm not exactly sure what that's all about. I didn't spend anytime in the bar area, but the restaurant area started out nicely. This was a Sunday night around 6pm, which went great for a bit. Then family time set in. The place got crowded very quickly and the waiter seemed more like a track runner than a server. He was extremely busy and there were kids everywhere. After seeing a kid throw some trash that nearly hit my guest, I started to question the customer base. The food was delicious and well priced and the restaurant staff was extremely courteous. My only concern is that on Sunday nights, the guest can easily turn this place into a high end chuck-cheese with a Mexican food flair. I don't blame the restaurant at all and perhaps this was a one time occurrence, but the other guest definitely made my experience here less than perfect. I will revisit this location in the near future and provide another update.

Not a bad place for basic "Mexican" food. The chips were served hot and the salsa was really good. The menu was big and reasonably priced. The horchata was good, it taste like big red at first with lots of cinnamon but it really mellows out well. Also check coupons4indy for lots of good coupons. The wife and I got two combination dinners (regular price 7.99) for 2 for 12.99 so it was a great deal. They did not have any bar specials tonight so I do not know if they have bar deals or not.

Very good experience here. The daily lunch specials are around $5 which is great on the budget. The service was prompt and the food arrived amazingly quickly. We didn't even have time to fill up on the chips. The taco and enchelado were delicious and flavorful. The been were delicious as well. The rice was on the plain side and was the only negative. The servers were nice and it is an authentic experience. I highly recommend it.

Fast friendly service , great food, reasonably priced and usually a pretty good atmosphere. The Rodeo Taco Salad or Burrito Loco are some favs. Parking is never an issue, as this place sits in a strip mall complex.

I'm sure a lot of people are going to hate on El Rodeo for being both a chain and a step down from the top-tier Mexican restaurants in Indy. I, however, love El Rodeo. First of all, the chips and salsa are awesome. Seriously. I haven't found better salsa anywhere in town. The queso dip is really good, too. Second, the menu is very extensive. You won't be short on selection here. The food isn't life-changing or anything, but I think it's really good. Finally, the bar offers absolutely ginormous margaritas for a decent price. Also featured at this location: mediocre-at-best portrait of a horse with a very disproportionate rope hanging on a barn wall behind it. Be sure to check this out.

I have never been disappointed at El Rodeo. Fast, good, reasonably priced food. Prefer the bar side ... A little more cozy, but the dining area has just been remodeled and looks much more inviting instead of just one big open room.

Good chips and salsa. Same meat is used for all meat dishes. Not one of my favorites.

Wow, wow, wow. This place is absolutely delicious, and if you're a big eater then your gonna have a field day here. Unlimited chips and salsa start out your meal and the salsa they have is one of the best ive ever been served. The menu is mind numbingly large and for some reason i always gravitate to two things: Pablo's Burrito and Burrito Loco. The burritos are as big as a football and are loaded with goodness. Dirt cheap drinks can accompany any meal in 22oz form and they have all the mexican favorites on tap. If you like mexican food give it a try, it may not be upscale and it may not be glamorous, but the food always arrives in less than 10 minutes, piping hot, and never fails to satisfy my large appetite.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
