Dufours is the best breakfast in the city! Welcoming staff, clean, comfortable atmosphere, delicious food, and a pastry counter full of treats. When you want to go to a place that serves traditional breakfast food made just right, this is your spot!

I chose to eat breakfast here today because it was the only one of the listed top five breakfast restaurants I had not tried. It will definitely not be in my top five! I ordered an omelet with smoked salmon and goat cheese. The egg itself was ok but the smoked salmon was cooked through, making it dry and nasty tasting. Smoked salmon is beautiful, soft and pink. Cooking it ruins it. I also tried their biscuits and gravy. It was the worst I have ever had anywhere. They brought it out in a soup bowl and it looked like dog vomit. The flavor was strong and off-putting. The best part of my morning meal was the buttered toast. Two stars.

Oh, man. This is now the place we go for brunch. It has everything I want from a brunch place, to the point that I'm ready to go ahead and commit to a near-exclusive (Taxman still has a place in my heart) brunching relationship. They have an AMAZING build your own omlette option. For relatively cheap, I made a spinach, goat cheese, and smoked salmon omlette. There must have been an entire fish worth of smoked salmon in there. They were so generous with the fillings, and the dish was huge. Oh, and it was delicious. They have lots of filling options, and you can pick any 3 for the same price - no upcharge for "premiuim" ingredients. Oh, and the baked goods. We got a piece of apple crisp to start with because we had waited faaaar too long to agree on what to have for brunch and we were hangry. One bite of their apply crisp and I was requesting that it replace funfetti cake for my birthday. The crumbly bits on the top are rapturous. Also, it's huge. My husband got biscuits and gravy, and as a notoriously picky eater when it comes to his favorite breakfast food he declared himself more than satisfied. They have a full espresso bar and brunch beverages for the discerning day drinker. They have a nice patio option for brunchers who want to catch some rays. It's incredibly reasonably priced, too.

We ended up with wrong food on both visits & cold coffee. The food miss-labeled on the menu. What is sold as a skillet dish is actually quiche. It was overlooked and didn't contain any sausage or ham as the menu had stated. My boyfriend ordered French toast and ended up with waffles - after the 35 minute wait we didn't bother to have it fixed. Coffee was luke warm. I gave this place two chances. We won't be back.

We've been probably 5 times and I'd say that the service has been good once. We actually got up and left after no one came to our table for 15 minutes after we were seated. That aside, it's fairly good. Plain, boring menu but the whole wheat toast is really great.

I would call this a neighborhood gem. You can tell that this is a family restaurant. I was amazed to find that they do take reservations, which comes in handy for me since I travel in a pack of usually a dozen people or so (meet-up dining group). We were seated at a huge table and we were told that this table had been especially made for 'the family'. Apparently there are 10 siblings. Not sure how many of them are involved in this business, but there are pictures of the family as well as Irvington through the years all over this place. It also has a nice outdoor seating area. A nice cozy place with super friendly and welcoming staff. Some of us checked out the French toast of course since it is getting such high reviews. The sheer amount of toast you get is overwhelming... you could feed your family with that. I tried some with the caramel apple sauce and it was absolutely delicious. Personally I had the waffle with fresh berries, of course I asked them to put whip cream on it for me, after all what are berries without whip cream? The waffle was light and fluffy with just the right amount of fresh berries so I had berries with each bit of waffle. A few folks ordered omelets and apparently that is the way to go here because they all carried on about how good it was. The Benny's looked fabulous also, but I forgot to ask the person how they were taste-wise.

The service was a bit slow but they are friendly. The food is very good. I'm picky about potato pancakes but theirs are great. They are about the size of a dollar coin, so the order of six is a good size. Also, the chocolate pie was fantastic. It was homemade and delicious.

Very sweet n tasty local place in Irvington. I have been for lunch and breakfast. Everything I have had here is delicious. Soups. Sandwiches, salads, and especially the Italian Cream cake! All the people I have been with are fully satisfied with their choices. While the prices might be slightly on the high side, the quality is definately there that you would expect for the price. The menu is not huge but there varity. And I believe keeping the choices to minimum allows them to serve higher quality product. Also, they have good ice tea! The atmosphere is fun, love that is celebrates Irvington. The only downfall is there is just one restroom . . . Oh and their deserts are homemade so sometimes they run out! Lol Definately worth a try!

We've been here a few times not because it's anything stellar, but because it's the only breakfast option in the neighborhood. Great: Fresh squeezed orange juice Good: Hash browns (Greasy and covered in cheese = delicious) Mediocre: Service (they get the job done, but leave it at the bare minimum. And slow) Breakfast sandwich (Bagel, egg, cheese, bacon) Western Omelette - I'm not a great cook and both the omelette and the breakfast sandwich were on par with what I can cook for myself at home. Bad: French Toast - The idea behind their french toast is interesting. They take a variety of breads (banana, cranberry, french, etc), batter, and cook them. The issue is that french toast is supposed to start with a hard bread (read "stale") (in French it's called "Pain Perdu" which literally translates to "Lost Bread"). If you start with a moist bread and dredge it through batter then grill it, it's going to come out soggy, which doesn't make for good eating even if the flavors are there. We'll continue to come here on occasion and I'll continue to add to this list. I'm sure there must be something here that they make really well, I just haven't found it yet. It's not a bad place to eat, just don't expect anything exceptional and you won't be disappointed.

I stopped in for lunch with co workers..it being my first time and im glad i did. The vibe is local and fresh. Simple dishes made with heart.. Honestly the food was so good we went back the next day for lunch and I'm pretty sure this will be a regular. I ordered the salmon citrus salad on wed and it was very good. I think the avacodo was a little out of place..but i love avacado soo i was happy to eat it. On Thursday i ordered a black bean burger..it was made in house..and it was soooooooooo good. The bun was amazing..buttery and soft. I asked for avacado instead of guacamole and she was happy to swap it out. My friends ordered a pretzel with there lunches just because they were soo good the first time. The only thing i dont like is that they don't have traditional sides like fries. I personally love the sides..but it would be difficult to convince more traditional folks.

Really tasty real food. Get the Mac & cheese soup, roast beef sandwhich, and a cream-cheese filled soft pretzel with cinnamon sugar. You won't be disappointed. They have odd hours & they always seem understaffed, but a GREAT lunch with a homey feel.

Welcoming staff and while what food that was hot was good them serving cold food is unacceptable. This is the second time that I have been there and both times cold food has been served.

I came here for a work meeting and it perfectly encompassed everything wonderful thing happening in Irvington right now. I remember when Irvington was considered a "bad" side of town, and now it's such a charming town with incredible small businesses everywhere. Dufour's has local artwork on display around the entire restaurant and the owner is absolutely lovely! I only had coffee, but the coffee was delicious... especially considering they are right beside a Starbucks. The only thing holding me back from that fifth star is the fact that I didn't taste any food, but I can guarantee an updated review as soon as I get back to taste something off of the menu.

Tried this place took even longer for any service my me all was so little for how much it was I would have rather ate at blueberry hill even though its not all that disappointing against

I live in Irvington, and want to support all of the cool little spots popping up, but I have to say, this is one of my least favorites. To their credit, each meal tastes like it was made individually. It's cooked perfectly and down to the toast, you feel like they're using quality ingredients. However, their menu is extremely limited, and super pricey. You definitely don't walk away feeling like you got a value. However, all of those things could be overlooked if not for the lackluster service. I've been 4 times now, and had decent service only once. This place has a lot of potential, and I haven't given up on it- it may grow into itself yet. But if you're looking for good food and great service for breakfast in Indy, try flapjacks or Lincoln square pancake house.

Remember the TV show "Cheers" where everybody knew your name? I get the same vibe from Dufour's in Irvington, and I'm pretty sure if I were to go back soon, they'd remember me. Dufours has the charm of a quaint neighborhood bistro where locals sip their morning coffee and chat about "the recent storm" or "did you see what so-and-so did to their house?" I love it! This place is the essence of Irvington, or as the locals call it: IRV. Posters hang on the walls advertising past IRV Halloween Festivals along with everything else local about Irvington and Indianapolis. I've heard good things about Dufour's, so when a friend invited me to join him for breakfast, I jumped on the chance. The first thing that caught my eye was the dessert case. Homemade cinnamon rolls, chocolate bread pudding, pies and assorted sweets were like a homing beacon for me. I found strength from within and walked past the case though only to see another case lined with chocolates from The Best Chocolate In Town. It took everything I had to run past the case and find my seat before I wiped them out. The breakfast menu: Tough choice for me between the BAM (Broccoli, Avocado and Mushroom Omelette topped with Guacamole) and the French Toast, which I've been told is a deliciously random combination of leftover breads. Fearing I would not be as strong in front of the display case on the way out, I went with the BAM and the standard multigrain toast. Hubbard and Cravens coffee kept it all local. My omelette and toast barely fit on the plate, and I couldn't finish it all. It was outstanding. I felt the broccoli was perhaps cooked just a tad too long, but being in the middle of an omelette, I can see where people wouldn't want crunchy broccoli tucked away inside. The mushroom to egg to broccoli ratio inside was perfect, and the guacamole, cheese and avocado on top gave it a wonderful flavor that will have me coming back. Excellent job and kudos to the Defour family for having such a great little place in IRV with wonderful food and exceptional service.

Dufour's is a cute little cafe on Washington. When I came, I had an amazing breakfast...a breakfast bagel with sausage that was seriously cooked to perfection. Their coffee was delicious, I think I drank four cups, and I even got one for the road after our server so kindly offered! The cafe is charming, with local art and posters on the wall. It's the perfect spot to grab a quiet, relaxing breakfast or lunch. The service was a bit slow, but I wouldn't want to come in to Dufour's for a hurried meal anyway. By my impression, it's just not that kind of place. Overall, a quaint spot to sit down for awhile and enjoy some coffee and a meal.

Cute neighborhood cafe with decent food but don't go out of your way unless time is not an issue. They are known for very slow/poor service. This has been a problem almost every time we've dined there, regardless of how busy they are. We've waited several minutes just to be acknowledged and then seated only to then wait another 5-10 minutes at our table for a server. We've gotten up and left it was so bad once. If it weren't so close we probably wouldn't continue giving them business, or trying to. Their toast/bagels (Amelia's bakery) and coffee are great, vegetarian and vegan options.

Dufour's is about average. Their coffee is ok, not great. Corned beef hash is ok, not great. The biscuits and gravy was... Gelatinous. Tasted like a fat glob rather than gravy. Drinks went dry a few times and no one asked how the food was after it had been out a few minutes. Not going into our collection. Rather visit padachu or travel back down to bloomington for some Runcible Spoon.

I just moved to the area this past month and wanted to try all of the restaurants along the strip. I will keep this short and to the point. The service was terrible. I stood around for a long time after walking in the door without acknowledgment. I also sat at my table for a very long time without acknowledgement. The person who finally did take my order, did so because she felt so bad, she doesn't even take orders she said. I ordered the breakfast skillet. I'm sorry, it was awful. I'm being 100% honest and not just a snooty turd. It was flavorless and very very very dry. Go ahead and skip this one if you venture the strip of restaurants in Irvington.

Dufour's used to be just about breakfast and lunch, but they've joined the night life! They are now serving dinner on Friday's and Saturday's. I've particularly enjoyed their First Friday's, which as the name implies, takes place every first Friday of each month. They have a set menu, usually a theme. Friday, March 6th, was Italian night. We enjoyed an antipasti salad, mushroom lasagna, and bread with a bottle of wine and opted for the chocolate cream pie for dessert. All was delicious and in generous portion. Even though the menu is set, there are usually 5 or 6 entrees to choose from covering the range of beef, pork, chicken, fish, pasta or vegetarian. The dinner price does not include dessert, but their dessert case is full of delectable sirens singing your name. While there is a nice selection, they are homemade, so they do disappear. First Friday also has a small selection of half-price wine bottles, but I would ask up front which wines are half-price, as some on the list may still be full menu price. They have a musical act, usually solo and acoustic, performing for the evening. It's a small dining room, quaint, low lighting, and warm. The staff is friendly, hospitable, and welcoming. With the wining and dining and music and dessert, this is like a Valentine's Day dinner every month. They take reservations, and I do recommend it for First Friday's.

Dufour's has the best Quiche Lorraine I have EVER had. Rich, creamy, flavorful! Good service - we experienced no delays and our server was friendly and efficient, as were the rest of the staff. We felt taken care of but not bothered. Everyone in our party enjoyed their breakfast and we all picked out things to try next time. It was well worth the drive across town and we'll be making that drive again. Maybe next weekend?

My best friend and I recently stopped in for breakfast. Both of us were craving a delicious breakfast and naturally turned to our handy, dandy Yelp apps for guidance. This shop seemed to fit our cravings and was located just a few minutes down the road from us, so we decided to give things a go. My frist impression upon entering the shop was of a cozy, coffee shop/cafe. The place was decorated in warm colors and displayed a lovely arrangement of pastures in the front cooler. We were seated near the window and were able to enjoy the morning sunlight and the sites of downtown Irvginton. This is where things got a bit tricky. Our smart looking waitress came up to our table and quickly presented us with menus and took our beverage orders. Two minutes later, a second waitress came over to do the same thing. The place was not overly crowded, as we chose an off hour to dine, so it was a bit confusing on how things got switched. Both waitresses seemed to be having a bit of a row with each-other and were clearly not on good terms. Our beverages were brought to us by the first waitress, but the second took our actual food order. After several minutes, my friend realizes she had not received any honey with her tea, nor I a water to accompany my mocha. It took several minutes of polite waiving before the second waitress noticed us and ambled over. It took her 10 minutes to hunt down honey and water, at which point we had already been served our omelets (these were delicious and rather large!). I had chosen a mushroom and swiss omelet with feta, while my friend went with a broccoli, avocado, cheddar omelet. Both were extremely well made and HUGE! We needed take home boxes by the end of it! Despite the somewhat confusing service, I would say these folks do a superb cup of coffee and omelet. I would be happy to visit again and give the folks another shot in the near future.

In a first attempt at baking a muffin, perhaps one should taste it before selling for $3.00. Because the baker asked for feedback, I would like to inform him that it was dry, hard, and with no enjoyable flavor. Furthermore, the muffin wrapper was crumpled in a knot inside the muffin. This was the most unfortunate muffin experience of my life to date, and I was so incensed I felt the need to write this letter to the baker. Blech!!!

Here for Sunday brunch. We had the hash, skillet, and veggie eggs benedict. All were fabulous. Coffee was good. Never had to ask for refills on water or coffee. Love this Irvington neighborhood. Can't wait to come back!

Service- Horrible! I would give less than one star if possible. The waitresses seem too busy chatting with each other to service customers. Ours was apparently looking through us as once I raised my hand to wave her over (after waiting 10 min for coffee) and she did NOTHING but to continue to talk to another waitress!! Awful service aside, this place has nothing great to offer in the way of food, the breakfast is plain as Jane and anything interesting on the menu takes forever to come out of the kitchen. It's sad I have to knock a restaurant in my neighborhood like this but my experience is pretty consistent with many other people in Irvington.

We went to Dufour's this morning for breakfast on the recommendations of just about everyone, and it was kind of disappointing. In our party of four, two people got the French toast. It's cool that they use a variety of breads, but when the menu says that this is to "create a variety of textures", that texture is mostly mushy. The banana bread and cranberry walnut bread and whatever else was tasty, but those breads are moist in general, so slopping them up with egg will not lead to a crusty French toast. The other dishes were eggs benedict and an avocado/broccoli/guacamole omelet, which seemed to go over OK. The fresh-squeezed OJ was excellent. The prices were pretty moderate. The service was slooooooow and not particularly attentive. Lots of Irvington memorabilia to look at. We'll probably be back because it's in the neighborhood and we like supporting local restaurants, but it was just OK. Maybe they'll change our minds in the future!

So happy to have discovered this place! It's a perfect Sunday brunch choice for the area. Small town feel, family-friendly, great service.. The food quality matches the price. I had a delicious vanilla chai, scotch eggs, and oatmeal topped with house made granola, almonds, and fresh bananas. Overall very satisfying and the two of us left without having to shell out more than 25 bucks.

After massages at "Happy Feet(amazing!)" my friends and I were trying to pick a place for lunch. One of my friends said Dufour's was on her list of places to go, so we went! I am not at all familiar with Irvington-perhaps a crime! We were all extrememly delighted with our choices. One of my friend's and I had the breakfast sandwich combo, and added a pancake. We subbed texas toast for the English muffin (which they were more than happy to do), and added on a pancake. The sandwich was sooo good. Perfect toasting of the bread. When I saw the pancake, I thought "oh, it's just bisquick," which was based on look alone. It was delicious. Had a vanilla taste to it. Seriously good. My other two friends had eggs and bacon or something. :) We were all happy. The potato pancakes were good, too. I pretty much love potatoes though, so unless you serve me a raw, unsalted potato, I will be happy. The server picked up on the fact that we were on a girl's day out, and offered us mimosas. OF COURSE, we ordered them. They were so good! I swear I have high standards. These mimosas had a very good champagne to OJ ratio. I believe they had other alcohol options. What our server actually said was, "We have liquor; would anyone like a mimosa?" Even the coffee was good. Very impressed. Breakfast is my favorite meal! We were there at brunch time on a Saturday, so some of the other complaints of business, etc, may not have applied. We were all happy with out experience! They also serve many desserts, and have a lunch menu.

The food was exceptional, the service was friendly, and the overall experience was enough to bring me back again if I'm ever in Irvington for breakfast. The wait was a bit longer then desired but who wants to wait for food when their hungry anyway. The coffee was amazingly distinct and tasteful as well. The most apparent turn off was the discussion in the dining room by two employees about their dislike of another.... But overall the experience was quite delightful.

Wow, what a great experience we had here this morning. Brought some guests to Irvington and all five of us had an excellent meal--pancakes, omelette, corned beef hash, and more. Everything seemed super fresh and made from scratch. The service seems to get better the busier they are--and they were packed this morning. I asked for some hot sauce and two different people brought it to me within 20 seconds. My daughter didn't like her chai but didn't say anything. The server noticed and offered her another drink of her choice, which was above and beyond. We were also offered takeout cups for our coffee and tea. Nice atmosphere, too. Even though there was some (good) live acoustic music, we were still able to carry on a normal volume conversation with our friends. Lots of cool historic Irvington material to gawk at too. Gonna have to come now and try their new Friday/Saturday dinners. Have heard really good things and totally ready to find out for myself.

Had a great lunch today at Dufour's, the first time I've been there despite living nearby for several years. I'm kind of sorry it's taken so long for us to go for lunch. We both had the same thing, the roast beef on an herby ciabatta roll, with swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and mayo. While the mayo wasn't listed on the menu, it wasn't altogether a surprise. This sandwich was out of this world. Simple, quality ingredients really do make a difference. The roast beef tasted homemade, not like the deli beef we had expected. The bread was perfect, and the onions were sweet and earthy, a master class on how to properly caramelize onions. Although served with a high quality kosher dill spear and kettle chips, they could have been a little more generous with the chips. We also both ordered side salads, one with cheese and one without. Both salads were extremely fresh, and didn't look like they'd been pre-prepared and unwrapped for us. The cheese was a shredded cheddar blend, and both salads came with a heavy sprinkling of julienned vegetables (zucchini and cucumber), and several grape tomatoes. The dressinngs were in ramekins but I suspect they were not homemade. We closed by sharing a piece of astounding pecan-streusel coffeecake with a caramel icing. Rich, buttery, and moist, it was the perfect end to a really good lunch. Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the product they're selling. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive, and we had several refills from our server without having to ask. There is a homey charm to this restaurant, and we'll definitely add this to our local rotation.

I missed breakfast, which I might have liked. However, the lunch service was horrible enough to knock this down to one star. The food was just okay and the cherry lemonade was really bad. I went with a party of four and none of us liked it. We took a sip and asked for new drinks, as it was barely palatable. When we went to pay I noticed that the lemonade was still on our bill. I told the cashier that we did not drink the lemonade and it should have been taken off. She replied with, "You had to taste it to know you didn't like it, so you did drink it." So, I paid the bill, but I will NEVER go back.

The food and the freshly squeezed orange juice was really good. However the service was horrible! I had The Country Skillet - a wedge of egg, potato, cheese, ham, and Italian sausage. Angela had Mama Dufour's French Toast. Like I said, the food was fantastic but that was the only thing this place had going for it at our time of visit. We walked in and there were three people up front talking and just ignored us. We stood there for about 10 minutes with people right there! Then they walked away. If it weren't for the fact we were starving, we would have left. Finally, someone came up and said hello and we'll be right with you. Then that person walked away. Finally after being seated, we thought things would have gotten better but they didn't. The service was slow, I sat there with an empty glass of orange juice and no one asked if I wanted a refill or anything else. I understand if the place was packed and really busy, but it wasn't. We finished our meal and once again found ourselves standing there being ignored at the checkout counter. The person asked how things were and I said the food was good but that was it. She just said ok. We may try this place again because the food was really good, but we won't go out of our way for it. We're hoping we just were there on a bad day. At least I'd like to think so.

Dufour's was a sad place, really. It was sad because it is in such an amazing location but the service was horrible and the food was pretty gross. I give it two stars simply because we were served and we did not walk out. Not a very high two star standard, I know. We showed up on Sunday morning after church... What went wrong? It took more than 5 minutes to be seated and there was only one person ahead of us. I was there with my husband and two kids and the hostess tried to seat us at a two top since my son was going to use a high chair--not sure if she thought we were going to sit my infant on the floor in her car seat??? She was very indecisive but finally figured out that we deserved a four top. We did not receive menus until about 5 minutes after we were seated. The server actually came to take our order and then realized we did not have menus after I gave her a blank stare. She then returned AGAIN to take our order and still had not brought the menus! She seemed lost and mismanaged. In fact, her manager was having a conversation that ultimately lasted about 15 minutes with a seated customer. I wanted an espresso drink and since they ARE on the menu I tried to order a cappuccino. Bad idea! The machine was broken. I got coffee instead, which tasted like tepid dirt water and was served in an ugly Dollar Store glass mug form a previous decade. The Food: I LOVE bagel breakfast sandwiches. I love them so much that I truly believe that it is very difficult to screw one up. I will eat almost any bagel sandwich that I am served. I even ate the one they gave me but I have to say that it was the worst I have ever had. Sloppy egg falling out of the middle, cheap bacon, and stale bagel. Before I ordered it the server told me that it would be served on a whole wheat bagel but it came out on an every-seed bagel. Poor food knowledge and complete confusion. She also spilled coffee in my seat when I went to the restroom and I had to wipe up the puddle before I sat back down! A couple more points on food: previously frozen, watery potatoes pose as hash browns and my son's pancake was dry. There was also local art being displayed and sold, which could be a really cute theme but the art is not that noticeable because it just looks like the rest of the trash that adorns as outdated decor. When we finally left, we were not sure how to pay the bill but figured out that we could just walk up to the counter and request our ticket. As I was gathering my items to leave, I heard the hostess seat a party of three at a table with another party of three!!! It was at a six top and the hostess told the latter party of three that it was a family table and asked if they minded sharing. They reluctantly agreed and sat with total strangers. How bizarre. I've spent too much time writing about this place. I have two final words: BIG FAIL.

We are constantly pleased with Dufour's in Irvington. It's mostly a local destination, and many patrons are regulars. We recommend anything from the sweets case, as well as the French toast, biscuits and gravy and the breakfast sandwich. Certainly an Eastside favorite!

I'm definitely a fan. The food is always good and the atmosphere is comfortable. They're always busy, but never so slated that the service suffers. It's a great little locally owned joint in the heart of Irvington that encompasses what this neighborhood really is.

Mike had a great meal. I seem to have missed that memo as mine was pretty dismal. When we walked out, we made exact opposite faces, which never happens. I had the grilled cheese sandwich which is supposed to be their specialty. It is drenched in a layer of mayo and the cheese wasn't melty... just gooey and greasy and way too much. I ended up eating the bread almost dry. I also had a salad with citrus dressing which was basically creamy mayo with a hint of lemon. I walked out feeling bloated and greasy. Mike had the cream cheese stuffed pretzel and a large salad. The pretzel had a kind of salty sweet cinnamon coating and a creamy inside. I thought it was ok, he apparently loved it. He walked out feeling full and happy. So... 3 stars?

I seriously hate to do this to my neighborhood restaurant but some things must change before I ever go back. My family and I have gone there several times for brunch hoping that it couldn't possibly be as bad as it was the last time. It always gets worse. It seems like the wait staff never can get it together. The service is unorganized. No one knows who is doing what. The coffee does not get made on a consistent basis so we are always waiting for more. The waitress actually said to us on a Sunday "man we have a lot `of coffee drinkers in here today." Why, yes you do. What do you expect on a Sunday morning? The atmosphere feels like a restaurant inside of a flea market. Love the location, food has potential but each time we think of returning we know it will be worse than the last.

I can't say that the menu is in any way surprising or creative -- the Sunday brunch menu really need some more lunch-y items, come on! -- but for what it is, it is quite delicious. The service is top-night and friendly. The place can get a little loud.

I really wanted to like this place and support a locally owned establishment in an urban area. I tried it thanks to a Groupon and ultimately decided I won't be back. The staff was completely overwhelmed for what must be a typical Sunday brunch crowd, you'd think they would know how to accommodate this by now. On top of that, the staff weren't efficient in their operation, and I could tell we ended up with the worst of the three. It was over 20 mins before we got our drinks. The hostess even tried to help by taking our drink orders, but she never delivered them. Our waitress was on the borderline of rude. Simple things like asking for ketchup took 10 mins. Reading other reviews, this seems to be a problem here. I was still hoping the food would steal the show, but alas it did not. I had the country skillet, biscuits and gravy, and my girlfriend had a special omlette. The biscuits and gravy were fantastic, some of the best I've had. The county skillet should not be called a skillet, it was more like a quiche, and not very good (too dry). The omlette had so much cream cheese gooped inside it was disgusting. I took some to out to put on my bagel and there was still too much left. Overall, it was nothing special and not worth a 25 min drive for us. Maybe the locals will keep it open, and I hope they do as the area needs it. It's just a shame that the owners don't appear willing to make some minor tweaks here that would make this establishment shine.

yawn. another disappointment based on my expectations from Indy Yelp reviews and other recommendations. Yes, it's an Independent restaurant in my neighborhood, which is what I do love about them and why I'll keep going back. But I've experienced a lot better and they can do better with a little effort. In general, they have good quality in some areas (like ingredients), but need to expand that a bit in some areas like service, atmosphere, etc.. A few examples of things I've experienced: - The MOST annoying thing I've seen, there is that the servers sent away a family of four looking for a meal. It was ten minutes before closing time and they sent away customers!? bad bad business. - Everyone in my party's eggs were not cooked to order. read: came out wrong. e.g. fried eggs requested hard came out soft. - Slow and annoying service .Didn't refill coffee. Dropped check and asked us if we wanted dessert just after we got the meal. - Tables are chairs are in need of updating. Sorry, I don't like sitting in cheap metal patio furniture with no leg room and a wet plastic table cloth. To end on the positive note, their bread is delish and I'll be going in regularly to get a loaf!

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Dufour's. On the love end, the food is really, really good. Definitely the tastiest breakfast on the East side of Indy, and their 5 for $5.50 has got to be the best breakfast deal in town. As for the hate, while the wait staff is nothing but pleasant, the service is routinely poor. We've been coming to Dufour's for years and have pretty much resigned ourselves to long waits for water/coffee refills, particularly on crowded days. They're also not accommodating at all when it comes to simple requests, like adding vegetables to an omelet or getting a side of fruit with the meal. I understand the need to control costs with a set menu, but really, you can't spare an orange from the giant pile of oranges sitting by the juicer? That said, we keep coming back to Dufour's because the food is excellent and the price can't be beat. It's a nice addition to the neighborhood - one that would be even better if their service matched the quality of the food.

We found this place just by driving along. Had a nice crowd but no wait. The orange juice was FRESHLY squeezed (could see seeds in it). I had the Spinach and Feta Omelet. And the French Toast was the best I ever had!

Okay, so I didn't go to Dufour's for breakfast, as everyone seems to recommend, so I'll be the lone voice talking specifically about lunch there. I can sum it up in four words---it hit the spot. I'd walked by Dufour's several times on trips to Jockamo's, and each time became more curious. It's a cool old brick storefront that holds the distinction of being one of the places John Dillinger robbed when it was a pharmacy back in the '30s. Well, that, to me, is cool enough, but then, the air outside always smells so good. So, my wife and I decided on a whim to go there for lunch one Saturday. The decor inside was pretty basic--kind of like a homey, rural diner -- aside from the great artwork on display/for sale from Irvington artists. Our waitress was very friendly and talkative and gave good recommendations, since it was our first time there. They've got a simple menu that seems to stick to a couple customer favorites and revolve specials in throughout the week, putting a big emphasis on comfort foods that make you feel like your a kid again and your mom's in the kitchen making your favorite sandwich. I mean, how many places can go to these days for a really good grilled cheese or sloppy joe, held together with those classic confetti toothpicks? And, with Fritos served on the side, no less? I got the meatloaf sandwich, and my wife got the super grilled cheese (consisting of multiple cheeses and a tomato grilled on Texas toast). The bun on the sandwich was grilled in butter (yum!), and the meatloaf had a very fine, juicy texture and was jumping with flavor. Then, I noticed something else. Wow, I was actually TASTING tomato and lettuce instead of just crunching it. I have a feeling they must get their vegetable toppings from a farmers market or their own garden. After several franchise sandwiches over the years, it's sometimes easy to forget how much lettuce and tomato can add to the taste of a sandwich when grown within the region, in season, and not mass produced. I also had a salad on the side with the creamy citrus house dressing, and that was pretty good as well. My wife gave major props to the grilled cheese and was kind enough to share a little bit with me. After that, I know what I'm ordering next time... unless I get a sudden meatloaf or sloppy joe craving, that is. Oh, and make sure to save some room for dessert -- the sugar cream pie is great! Yeah, we'll be back.

This place is really a nice, independent restaurant. They have good food and some art from local artists for sale in the front. The food was pretty good, not spectacular, but well worth the trip. As it is a small, independent place the service is really good, and if you come in often you will become one of the "regulars".

Lost a star due to kinda chilly dining room and self-serve coffee hoppers being empty for awhile. Also, no other servers so much as LOOKED at our table as they walked by (we were seated directly behind the hostess stand, so they could have glanced down on a pass)...which is NOT a hallmark of good service. Other than that, everything was great. First time here was a late summer breakfast for the 2 of us on the patio, and I fell in love with the menu. I was unimpressed that the check was dropped with the food and the server only came back once after that to fill coffee. Really great food though. Hot, delicious, cheap, fresh. Second time, a group of 5 during a wintery early Saturday afternoon. Our server was Tosca and she answered all of our questions in a friendly manner and made recommendations. The order was correct (several "no _____" items) and took only about 15 minutes. I ordered a breakfast sandwich (stacked platter, they call it) with their tasty cheesy hashbrowns. The sandwich is scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, and carved ham on a fresh English muffin. Dad ordered a stuffed omelet, which has ham, bacon, sausage, and potatoes rolled inside with cheese on top. He couldn't stop raving about it, and he said the multigrain toast was good too. Mom ordered an Italian Griller (I think) off the lunch menu, which appeared to be hot ham and cheese on thick-sliced garlic toast. It looked delicious. Chris ate the breakfast skillet, which is a wedge-shaped slice of egg, potatoes, and ham, topped with cheddar cheese. This time it was served with a whole wheat bagel but in the past he ordered it with a salad. He only left one bite behind, which to him is finishing everything. Katie ordered some type of chicken sandwich with pesto. She said it was "amazing" and was especially impressed with the multigrain roll it was served on. She and mom both enjoyed their little veggie sticks, which are served in place of fries. We ALL really enjoyed the bread pudding with amaretto whipped cream. It's fantastic gooey deliciousness. We shared this before the meal, and also had a buttery cream cheese stuffed soft pretzel-yum! This is a quite small space. The tables are mainly for 2 or 4, and there are 1-2 round tables which seat five. As some other reviewers noted, the chairs aren't restaurant-grade. They're what you might find in someone's kitchen or sun room. I don't find them uncomfortable. I love sitting out on the little deck for breakfast. It's nice to watch the people in the neighborhood come and go. This little restaurant is adorable! The back of the restaurant has a display of art prints by Kimmel. Most of them are of sights in Indianapolis, and many are of Irvington sights. If you like local art and crafts, after your meal, head down to Homespun or Black Sheep and browse.

This was my first time dining here. I enjoy locally owned restuarants and shops. The menu has few options making it easier to decide what to eat, not a fan of a lot of options. I am vegetarian and there isn't much to choose from, grilled cheese, soup and/or salad is about all to choice from. I noticed that some of the sandwiches would be very delicious minus the meat. I asked if I could have the Chicken Caprese minus the chicken and they made it with extra cheese and basil. It was very delicious. The baguette was nicely grilled, perfect amount of extra basil and cheese. I was afraid there would be to much cheese added. My sister had the grilled cheese without the mayo. She thought there was just a little too much cheese but she did enjoy the grilled texas egg bread. To drink she had the raspberry lemonade and I had the raspberry ice tea. It seemed that the drinks were made with regular lemonade and regular tea with raspberry syrup. We both thought the drinks had the perfect amount of the syrup. As we walked up to pay we passed by the desert case where there are homemade pies and pastries which looked very yummy but we were good and passed on the deserts, but really I wish that I would have gotten that slice of cherry pie. The hostess and waiter were very nice and efficient and our food came very quickly. I would try this restaurant again and hopefully they will expand their menu with more vegetarian options.

I thought this place was okay at best. $10 before tip is pricy for breakfast. My fresh squeezed oj tasted sour like I had just brushed my teeth or something, and my sausage gravy had a bit of bone in it. My waitress was less than friendly, which as a waitress myself, I can usually relate but I was being perfectly pleasant and not at all demanding. I doubt I will be back, being as the Legend next door is so much better and cheaper.

My buddy and I had lunch there( or is it here?) Thursday; quite unexpectedly. We meet for lunch weekly. Normally we plan ahead, but this week we had no plans so we tried Dufour's. Very pleasant choice. They offer a typically chic variety of sandwiches; with a notable exception; a Sloppy Joe. I am such a Hoosier. Naturally that is what I had to order. My pal had a 1/2 grilled cheese with a cup of soup. I also had a cup;and as they say out east it was wicked awesome. It was creamy chicken and mushroom. And you could actually taste all the components and the sweetness of real heavy cream. Nicely done. Someone in this joint can cook. The sandwiches were good, nicely crafted, with good bread. But they are what they are. A grilled cheese with tomato and ground meat with peppers, onions and a sweet tomato sauce. So the sandwiches alone merited 3 stars. The 4th star was given for the soup, and more importantly the potential this joint has to actually cook. Just wished I lived closer.

(1)Holly S.

Friendly, affordable, delicious! Good local place, and a nice stop to enjoy a cup of joe!

Really tasty real food. Get the Mac & cheese soup, roast beef sandwhich, and a cream-cheese filled soft pretzel with cinnamon sugar. You won't be disappointed. They have odd hours & they always seem understaffed, but a GREAT lunch with a homey feel.
(5)Andrew T.
Welcoming staff and while what food that was hot was good them serving cold food is unacceptable. This is the second time that I have been there and both times cold food has been served.
(2)Hannah H.
(4)Andrew D.
Tried this place took even longer for any service my me all was so little for how much it was I would have rather ate at blueberry hill even though its not all that disappointing against
(2)Nicole L.

(4)Holly S.
(2)Evan J.
(2)Stephen W.
Food was okay - a little overpriced. The waiter was rude. I won't be back.
(2)Jacquelyn L.
Love this place! It's our go-to restaurant for showing off Indy brunches when family comes to town.
(4)Erica O.

(4)Lynn F.

(4)Catherine S.
Hands down best biscuits and gravy I have ever eaten. Nuff said.
(5)James C.
(1)Kasey L.

A really great place for Sundays breakfast!! I'm not a huge fan of there lunch and dinner menus. Down to earth atmosphere and great food!

(5)Audrey K.

I love this place! food is ultra-fresh, service is quick, and the food tastes wonderful.! I love the atmosphere too. Simple, bright, and perfect to enjoy breakfast.
