I visited Corner Wine Bar for the first time last week for my birthday dinner with my parents. (Please, I know I'm not the only twentysomething who still saves more expensive dinners for dinner with family.) Our waitress was candid with recommendations, and the food had lovely presentation and good flavor. Considering my mild corn obsession, I had to try the sweet corn ravioli. It worked surprisingly well with pasta and a savory cream sauce. Also, dessert. Four words: Free. Birthday. Chocolate. Mousse. With a generous flavor of rum and plenty of whipped cream. Yes, please. One note: being in the heart of Broad Ripple, the patio gets a fair amount of street noise. If you want a quieter conversation, you might opt to sit indoors.

Yes, Corner Wine Bar is an original, but the food is all right...nothing too special or mind-blowing. I would prefer to go downstairs and listen to the live music on a Saturday night...THAT is worth a trip in.

Service is always wonderful. But the food can be hit or miss. Last time I ordered the Diabolique Pasta, it was perfect! The third time, the shrimp were overcooked. And, the dish was a bit bland overall. Desserts aren't disappointing - get the S'mores for two! Drinks of the night (ands things to know): 1) ABC Flight - "Anything but Chardonnay" (* * *) 2) Francis Ford Coppola Sofia Mini Blanc de Blancs (* * *) - crisp and bright - it comes in can - 70% Pinot Blanc, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Muscat Cannelli 3) Mumm Napa Cuvee M(* * * *) - great sparkling wine - perfect match for a creamy, spicy pasta dish

The wife and I decided to try out the corner wine bar for a valentines day dinner. Based on all the positive reviews, we decided to ask about the managers bin for a bottle of wine. My wife only likes sweet white wines. I told the waiter, and he said he had a moscato. Perfect. Her favorite. We are off to a good start. We opted for the cheese fondue crock. AMAZING. A big sourdough bread bowl, filled with a cheddar cheese mixture made with beer and wine, arrived at our table with some apples, broccoli, and pecans. So. Good. The wife had a tortellini with blue cheese cream sauce and I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich. Both were good, although my wife was was in love with get cheese tortellini. My Mahi was good, but after seeing some burgers at a neighbor table i definitely had some envy. The entrees came with some very thin breadsticks. Very French. Added a level of elegance to the meal. Portions were very generous, and we couldn't manage to fit in dessert. Another time. I'm going to give a service shoutout to Sam. Great service enough though they were slammed for dinner service. We will definitely be back, but we will do appetizers and dessert or entrees and dessert.

Service was good but food was poor poor quality- dry fish that was reminiscent of freezer burn, rice pilaf that would have been better out of a rice a roni box and carrot soufflé that was tasteless. All at an exorbitant price.

When we entered, we went to the bar that's on the first level. We sat there for 10 minutes and no one acknowledged us. So then we went to the downstairs bar and grabbed a seat. Our server came immediately. We ordered the goat cheese app which was delicious! But then our entrees came....I asked our server beforehand if the ravioli was good and he said yes. NO. The ravioli was $20 and so sad. It was cheap ravioli with barely any salmon thrown on top. Ewww. Also, the staff failed to tell us of a country band that would be playing loud as hell while dining. It was not worth the money for the food or the service. I won't be coming back or recommending it to anyone.

I have always loved this establishment for the past 15+ years. They have a lower level with live bands on the weekend. It is a lively atmosphere down there. The main level is charming! It is great ambience in the bar too. Great wine selection!! Great appetizers!! I have enjoyed many menu items. Nice place to sit and have a conversation with friends.

Cozy restaurant with awesome service and food. The wine is great and reasonably priced. I highly recommend the flights of wine to enjoy many of their wines.

Stopped in on a whim the other night. Good spot Frenchy feel. Lots wine and beer to choose from. I had the Bourbon Fillet on the summer menu. It was grilled to perfection and the potatoes were good as well.. My buddy had the salmon with carrot sufle It was also very good.. We both had a good experience there. I'd visit again!

Good food and wine while sitting outside watching the people pass by in the heart of Broad Ripple - what could be better? The outdoor seating wraps around the front corner of the building, so if you would like to stay out of the sun as it sets, request a table on the north side of the building.

Amazing Service!! Great Selection. Personal thanks to Leza (sp?) the manager there, who totally helped us out getting a bottle of champagne to our friend.

Not the first time we've been here but we decided to do something a little pricier to celebrate with friends. We started out with the stuffed mushrooms, better than average. Two of the four of us had the lobster ravioli, which was delicious. Another got the rib eye, also delicious, but by no means something you would receive at a quality steakhouse, more like a good steak from a Texas Roadhouse. Overall, we were most pleased with the selection from the "manager's bin", their special selection bottles of wine for $20. You can't be more specific than describing the color and flavor you want, but you wont be disappointed.

My husband and I have been here twice with mixed results. The atmosphere is great, perfect for a romantic night out and I've heard the patio is a great place to sit in the summer for happy hour. The food is average - appetizers are the best part in my opinion (try the cheese plate, we got 3 cheeses and had plenty for our 4 person group), our entrees were good but nothing to write home about. My favorite was definitely the linguine saltimbocca and least favorite was the tuna bruschetta, there was nothing "bruschetta" about it, just slices of tuna on bread with a little sauce. The service has been very hit or miss - the first time we went we loved our waitress. She shared all sorts of interesting information about the restaurant, the wine, the food, their monthly events, etc. Super friendly and attentive without being all up in our business. The second time we went we basically had to hunt down our waitress any time we want anything. Took me 15mins to order a glass of wine - not ideal - and what felt like forever to get out checks. I'll likely be back for the appetizers (definitely best part of the menu, entrees have only been so so) and a big glass of wine when it's warm enough to sit on the patio but I'll head somewhere else for a full meal.

The apps are quite underwhelming - the cheddar cheese fondue in a white bread bowl fondue was very dry and uninteresting.... the flat bread suffered the same fate. As for the seafood app - I may be losing my mind but the crab cakes came with ketchup. Huh? Is this a mid-west thing? The portion was fine but the cakes had too much breading/panko (read: filler). I had the tomato orange soup to start and not much happening there. Opted to skip the remaining prix fixe and get some wine and fresh air. Hopefully the place smells better if I come back. Overall my particular experience with this establishment was underwhelming. It may have just been a timing thing but I would need to go back to confirm and as of now - no plans for that.

The name Corner Wine Bar is deceiving. Came here for drinks after work and was surprised to see signage for $3 pints. The beer menu was concise but eclectic, featuring Pumpkin Ale, Busted Knuckle Porter, Diesel Stout, and other beers I never heard of. They had a good wine list of course, but the drink specials negated the need to try the wine (I prefer beer anyways). It was my first visit so I was a little lost when I walked it. Apparently, the main entrance leads to the dining area and side entrance leads to the bar. The server probably assumed I knew my way, so there wasn't a lot of help in terms of directions but I found my way eventually. There is also a downstairs bar which was roomier than I expected. I tried a couple of appetizers at the group event. The Flatbreads were square in size and had soft dough (not crispy thin crust like I expected). They were fulfilling but light on toppings. The Baked Goat Cheese were somewhat spicy, and came with really good fresh bread. The sauce would be perfect with some meatballs. I was hoping to try the special 3-course menu for $19.99, but didn't get a chance to. It looked promising and sounded like a good deal. Maybe next time.

Great wine bar, very nice. Great food too. Just off the main drag in Broad Ripple, this is a great place for a date nite. Great wine selection and atmosphere. It's not the biggest place, but is also connected to The Wellington pub and has upstairs and downstairs seating. The food is a bit pricy but worth it. I haven't had a bad dish there yet. They also have a full bar and decent (if small) tap beer selection. Don't forget to ask about the Manager's Selection special wines. A bottle for $20.

We ate outside, i heard the inside is a little small but what wine bar isn't. I had the Greek salad and it was delicious. their menu is great, the service is awesome and their wine selection is out of this world. I definitely plan on going back.

Went here on a date and really enjoyed myself. For the best deal, I suggest getting a wine flight so that you can try several wines at once. One flight brings small samples, not full glasses, so you should be fine to drive after. The goat cheese appetizer with crostini was delicious! Great service and a good romantic place to go on a date or just gather there with your friends! Park across the canal if you're looking to park for free.

I hadn't been here for awhile, but a friend and I were wandering Broad Ripple, and decided to grab an early dinner. As the name would suggest, they have a very nice wine list with many available by the glass, some really interesting flights, and a cool thing where you can get a manager's selection bottle for $20 (you tell them if you want red, white, sweet or dry). Since it was just two of us, and we were driving, we opted for individual glasses. I ordered a Pinot Grigio, and my friend ordered a Riesling. Somehow the glasses were mixed up before they got to us. Now, I'm not good enough to tell the difference between say, a California vs Italian Pinot Grigio...but I sure knew the wine in my glass was a Riesling :). My friend who likes sweet wines also quickly agreed a mistake was made. We swapped glasses, and no harm was done, but hope this was an isolated incident! I had the artichoke white truffle pizza which was great! Big pieces of tender artichoke hearts and a wonderful distinct truffle flavor that didn't overpower the artichokes or fresh cheeses. It came with mixed greens and a house made vinaigrette. Next time I want to try some of the small plates, I don't remember all of those on the menu the last time I was here, but then, like I said, it's been awhile. Service was good other than the wine mix-up! We sat outside and enjoyed people watching as people were arriving from the Colts game. I highly recommend the patio if the weather is nice! It wraps around two sides of the restaurant, and they do have shades if the sun gets too intense.

You wouldn't expect a restaurant called Corner Wine Bar to have such an extensive, unique and delicious menu but it absolutely does. I'm a college student so I wanted to try some place new and a little swanky-er because my mom was in town and my usual frozen burrito or ham sandwich wasn't going to cut it. When we arrived, we were seated immediately which we were not expecting on a Thursday night. I loved the feel and vibe of the place, all the art on the walls made it feel really fancy but still local and very quaint. Even a little home-y. We ordered the baked goat cheese appetizer and finished it in minutes (an obsession with goat cheese runs in my family). My mom ordered the wild mushrooms and scallops and I had the champagne chicken after staring at my menu for 15 minutes choosing between the chicken and the goddess wedge salad. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and arrived in a very timely fashion. We each got the chocolate mousse for dessert and it was the perfect size for the two of us after such a filling dinner and was very chocolatey but also had a light and airy texture. Our server recommended some delicious Sauvignon Blanc for us to drink during our meal as well as the mousse for dessert and she was spot on! I will definitely be back again soon for that wedge salad...

Two words. Carrot Soufflé. I will have dreams of this delicious delight. Alas, it was not on my plate so I only got a generous taste but I assure you I will be back to try the champagne chicken that is accompanied by a veggie and the coveted carrot Soufflé. My parents were in town and my mother had just returned from Wine Country so I believe she wanted to keep buzz going so suggested we have dinner at Corner Wine Bar. I personally don't drink alcohol nor does my father so I figured she felt her selection assured her a designated driver. Well played mom, well played. I love the ambiance of this place and the featured local art. The antique bar was a definite focal point. I had some concerns about being accessible (my boyfriend mother is in a wheelchair so I always scout out good, accessible restaurants we can go to with them) with the bathrooms and the coolest area (where the live music is performed) all down stairs. But that's for another conversation. We had dinner at 6pm on a Sunday and they had very light traffic. We ordered the baked goat cheese appetizer as well as the saltimbocco skewers, prosciutto wrapped chicken, to share between the four of us. The chicken skewers came with four pieces and the goat cheese had enough pieces of pesto covered bread for all of us to have about two slices. Both were excellent and I really liked the creaminess or the goat cheese in the tomato sauce. I ordered the goddess wedge salad and absolutely loved it. The beats gave it a great sweetness that was wonderfully balanced by the bacon. Was more than enough to share too. I ordered the gemelli pesto pasta that came with a generous scoop of ricotta cheese and chicken. I was torn between than and the ravioli but our server, who was excellent by the way, suggested the pesto pasta as it was spicy but not too overwhelming. I should have told her I can't handle my spice well as I found the gemelli to be a bit too much heat for me. The ricotta cut it a bit but it still had me reaching for more water after each bite. I enjoyed the fresh basil garnish in the dish and the ricotta was excellent. The chicken was a bit dry but the thick, cream sauce masked that. It was worth trying but definitely not for me event though I am a purveyor of pesto. My father got the wild mushroom and scallops which was excellent. Now as a former gourmet mushroom farmer and hobbyist mycologist, I do take issue with what they classify as 'wild mushrooms'. It appeared to me to be a variety of portobello and therefore not wild. They possibly could have been porcini or another boletus which then if that were the case, I withdraw my cry for proper fungi classification. I meant to ask but hadn't seen my parents in a few months and let's be honest, no one likes to be that person who gets all ' fungus amongus' at the dinner table. My mother got the Champagne Chicken and again, that carrot soufflé. She was very impressed with her meal as well as the white wine she ordered based on our servers recommendation. My significant other ordered the Pasta 'Berto which was also excellent (as you can see I sample from my dinner companions plates, all in the name of research I assure your) and again the accompanying mushrooms were cooked just right. We shared a slice of the key lime pie which I found to be very unique. It was lighter than your typical slice of key lime, not your neon green variety, and only had a hint of the key lime kick you get from this delectable desert. I'd call it 'key lime light' which I think may be more appropriate for the Midwestern palette. It was very tasty and I particularly liked the very light graham cracker crust. We all left very satisfied*ans impressed with our overall meal and service. I was the only one who needed a box mostly because I couldn't handle the heat of my dish and needed additional H2O reinforcements. We stuck around and chatted a while and our server was gracious and continued to check on us and fill water glasses which very rarely occurs once the bill is signed. Will define be back for a meal of the goddess wedge and carrot soufflé and would love to try out more of their rotating, seasonal menu items. The 'pennywise' menus of three courses chosen from a smaller, pre selected menu for under $20, Sunday - Wednesday seemed like an excellent deal but let's be honest, the parents were paying so we wanted to try out the full menu.

Really 3.5, but I'd rather round up than down for this place. I came here on a Monday and got the penny wise menu (Sunday-Thursday) which offered the tilapia I wanted plus a salad and a choice of a glass of wine or a piece of chocolate cake for $19.95, just $2 more than the tilapia itself, which is a great deal. The tilapia portion was large and was very good. My sides were too oily. My friend got the lobster ravioli, which was too oily for her. We did a $20 bottle of wine, where you basically tell the server what you like and they find something in the $20 range for you. We requested a Sauvignon. It wasn't available, but our server did a great job of picking a similar wine. Our service was friendly and I enjoyed the atmosphere. It's quaint and personal - a great place for dates.

I had really high hopes for the corner wine bar, but it was an atrocious experience from start to finish. My friends and I were able to sit outside, which was great--the weather was awesome. We got there around 5:30, and it was busy but by no stretch was it overwhelmingly packed. There were a few waiters/waitresses working the patio area. It took us a half hour to get our water from waiter--after asking several times. It took us 40 minutes to get our wine and appetizer. They graciously didn't charge us for the appetizer because the hostess heard us complaining about how long it was taking to get our drinks. The food was subpar. I had a brie and bacon sandwich. The bacon was nonexistent. 70% of the plate was potato chips. It was a $7 meal at best, but was $15. Overall, the food was overpriced for what we got and the service was bad. There are definitely better patio/outdoor seating options in Broad Ripple.

My boyfriend and I have been coming here for about 3 years whenever we feel we want to have a "special" date, and it occurred to me tonight that I had yet to write how wonderful this place is! We love the romantic feel of this restaurant, but be beware if you do not like "cozy" seatings. It personally doesn't bother us, but I can see how it would bother some. But onto the more important things...like food & wine! We first came here for NYE in 2009, and were served candied bacon and that is why this place is so indelible in my mind. Oh my gosh, I had never had such a treat like that! We were also introdcued to the "manager's grab bag" that night which is a pretty interesting concept. Basically, they have a select group of wine that is marked down to $20 (I think each bottle is at least over $25 if not more). You get to choose red or white, and sweet or dry and they select a wine for you. We always pick this, as its fun to get to try something new, especially if it is something you might not pick out for yourself. We haven't had a dud bottle yet. We have tried many of the dishes, some of the notable ones were the Chicken Oscar and the Canard. I tried the Canard on Valentine's day this year and was so happy with my choice. Succulent duck with a delightful sauce and with green beans and mashed potatoes. It was a very decadent meal and perfect for the occasion. We have yet to try the desserts, but I am sure we will get there one day. Usually we are too stuffed with good food & wine, that we can't even think about dessert.

I've long been a huge fan of the Wellington, which is the bar underneath the Corner Wine Bar (and also the reason these reviews seem to be about two different places), but only recently have I actually made it in to CWB to enjoy some food. I didn't know what to expect, but was very surprised at how nice of a place it is. Upon first entering on a Friday night, I asked for a table for two and the response I got was "do you have a reservation?", to which I of course responded "no" because I am terrible at planning these kinds of things. Fortunately, they did have room for us, but it is not a big place and does fill up. I think just about every other table did have a reservation and they were telling people who didn't have a reservation that came in later that there would be a decent wait. The moral of the story; be sure to make a reservation if you plan to come here. The interior is nice and definitely has the charm of an older establishment. It's kept dark with some ambient lighting and background music. There is a lot of artwork up on the walls, and the red ceiling with dark wood beams was a great choice. Being small, it did seem like it was a little crowded inside, but they did obviously give up on squeezing in some additional tables to make sure everyone was comfortable. I imagine that in the summer when their outside portion is opened up some of this is relieved. It is a nicer restaurant, and is perfectly suited as a place for a date night rather than a place to just go get some food and drinks in Broad Ripple like most of the other options. The service is what made this experience great for me. I thought the service far outpaced the prices, which is usually the opposite at most places. Our server was extremely nice and professional, and was very helpful with the menu as well. All of our needs were taken care of without feeling rushed about it, even though they were full. It really is the kind of service I would expect at one of the nicer steak places around Indy. The menu wasn't huge, but had plenty of variety that you would find something for every craving. They had a handful or burgers that were all classed up above your typical burger. I went with the surf and turf, which was a perfectly cooked patty topped with a shrimp salad and cocktail sauce on a toasted bun. It was a little difficult to eat because it was stacked too tall, but it was delicious. I got it served with a side of mashed potatoes that reminded me of how my mom used to make them with a hand masher and flavored with butter, without all of the added cream and cheese that is usually in most at restaurants. They also have a selection of pastas that looked great and will definitely be my choice on the next visit. The person I was with got a great salad (which can be ordered in a side or entrée portion) and a large bowl of the best lobster bisque I've had. It was definitely on the creamy side as compared to others, but had great flavor and a generous portion. We also started with the pig and fig flatbread that could probably serve someone as a meal on its own. It was fantastic, and will justify ordering a second time the next time I am there. The large pieces of balsamic marinated figs were delicious and need to be served with more dishes than just this one. As the name suggests, the wine list here is very extensive. Between wine, beer, and cocktails, they had 4 or 5 pages of the menu dedicated solely to their alcohol selection. The beer choices are thorough with just about any type you could want and priced competitively. I'm no wine connoisseur, so I'm sure the extensiveness of their options was lost on me, but they did have quite a few different sampler options in which you got 4 different varieties to make narrowing down your choice of just one a little bit easier. Overall, this is one of the best places I've been to when it comes to providing service and ambiance above what you end up paying for their food. The food is great as well, and I would have been happy with just that alone. Why only 4 stars after this great review? This is my one warning to those looking to go on a weekend night. We were wrapping up our meal at around 9:00, which is when the band downstairs starts playing and you will know exactly when they start. The sound makes its way upstairs and you will hear the music, especially the bass, which isn't quite on par with the rest of the experience. It did take the nice vibe for a turn once that started up. My suggestion; get there early enough to finish before 9 and then make your way downstairs for some great live music.

I just happened to stop in here last night because I heard there was a band playing. We only caught the last half quarter of their show, but it was AMAZING!!! They were called A Touch of 'Grass' and they play there every Friday night!!!! No cover. They're a bit grassy and bluesy, but also do a little bit of classic rock. I want to go back there next Friday night! I can't speak to the prices this time because I was amazed by the performance and my boyfriend bought the beers. However, next time I definitely want to get this appetizer the people next to us purchased that had cheese, crackers, olives, and grapes. They were kind and gave me the rest of the olives and I seriously downed them! So good!!

I have lived walking distance from Corner Wine Bar for way too long to not have tried this place. Although the reviews provided a lot of suggestions, I went with the Gemelle pasta which was a pasta dish with grilled chicken, spicy sun-dried tomato pesto, and goat cheese. My friend got the beef bourguignon which he said was quite good. The portions are quite generous. I ate half of mine and when I went to go get the leftovers the next day, I couldn't believe how much was left. We also split the cheesecake (choosing the caramel sauce) which was light and creamy. This wouldn't be a bad place to go if you're looking to just do dessert and wine. The restaurant was a little dark for my taste and I would have preferred a little bit more lighting (especially after the sun went down). We went on a Tuesday night so there weren't a lot of people and our service was very attentive. There was only one server for the entire restaurant. The food also came out surprisingly quickly. The beer and wine selection was also pretty decent. If it hadn't been a Tuesday, I likely would have tried one of the wine flights. I guess I'll save that for next time!

I will admit that Broad Ripple is not my usual stomping ground, but tonight I was in the area and decided to give CWB a try. What a mistake! Service was slow and less than polished, but worse was te food. The cheese fondu was quite likely Velveeta in a bread bowl and the "prime" beef was sirloin. I ordered it medium and it was just that, but was a workout to cut. Managed to eat half and told the waiter I didn't need a box, a sure sign of trouble, but he was unaffected. To top it off, when the couple at the next table was done, the hostess cleared their table and proceeded to spray it with amonia and whipe it down. I won't be back.

I just recently checked out the bar down in the basement of the restaurant. There was an Irish band playing live music which was nice. It's the perfect mellow and cozy atmosphere to enjoy some wine or beer with your date or a small group. I know I will keep coming back here!

My experience here was mixed. My husband arrived on a blustery winter day for a rare date night. We've passed this place many times and always wanted to give it a try without the kids. It's smaller than it appears, and kind of feels like an old European cafe inside, unusual for Indiana. It's quite cozy and charming. There are two parts - the restaurant side, which I don't think had more than 15 tables, and the bar side, about the same size. Though we had a reservation, they seemed a bit flustered when we came in off the street, and said our table wasn't quite ready yet. They invited us to wait in the bar, but since they just had to clear one table we waited in the little hallway between the restaurant and bar. It only took a minute. However, the experience started deteriorating from there. Every part of the service took at least 15 minutes, from getting menus, to getting water, to ordering drinks, to ordering food. I think we were sitting at least 45 minutes before we were able to order. I wasn't checking my watch so maybe my perception of time was distorted, but my husband was ready to leave by the time they finally took our orders. There were several waiters and the place wasn't too big, so I'm not sure what was going on. I ordered a wine flight - four glasses - at a reasonable price, around $12? Unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed with the wine. I'm not a wine expert, but it tasted pretty cheap - which it was - but I thought that if they were going to offer special selections it should be something they were proud to show off. And I never did find out what I was drinking, because, after waiting at least a half hour for the wine, the promised explanation card never showed up. Like I said, date nights are rare and I was determined to enjoy myself so I did my best to not mind the poor service. The waiter was apologetic each time he came by, but our reservation was late and we were starving! I've lived in Europe and don't mind relaxed service, but in Europe you wouldn't wait so long for a drink. The food, however, almost made up for everything. We split some kind of baked tomato appetizer - I was expecting an oven baked tomato but it was more like a bruscetta. The tomatoes were the kind of tomatoes you get in Indiana in the winter, unfortunately, but it was very garlicky with a little bit of cheese, and very tasty. For the entree I had the pork belly, which was amazing. I have to admit I've seen pork belly on menus a lot but never ordered it, and I was expecting something like pulled pork. Instead it was a small serving of meat with a nice vein of fat running through the middle. The outside was seared with a delicious sauce. It was wonderful - very rich, but small enough that it felt like a splurge without being overwhelming. The side was the carrot souffle, which was also different than what I would have expected. It was very sweet and rich, kind of like a bread pudding consistency. Though I wouldn't think I'd like something so sweet, it had a complex nutty flavor that I couldn't quite identify. Maybe made with condensed milk? I loved it, and again it wasn't so much that I got sick of it. My husband had a steak, and was less impressed. He tends to order meat on the more done side, and I think this one didn't benefit from it. It had a nice sauce, though. I had planned to get dessert, but between the rich meat and the sweet carrots I no longer had any desire for it. I'd give this place another shot for the food, hoping for better service and being a little more careful with the wine.

Disclaimer: This review is just for wine selection and dessert (what else do you need?) I stopped in here with my wonderful date for a glass of wine and dessert after dinner. It was a bit chilly out so we decided to sit inside, until we walked in and felt how cold it was. It felt like an icebox inside! We immediately retreated and decided to sit outside. Our waitress, Ashley, brought us menus quickly and provided courteous and prompt service. The wine selection was great. It seems like there is something for every price range, and great by the glass options. I ordered a glass of Riesling, and my boyfriend went with a suggestion of Ashley's. We ordered a slice of chocolate cake to enjoy with our wines. The wines were great, the dessert was fantastic and service was wonderful. I will definitely be back for dinner!

I had always been curious about Corner Wine Bar, but similar to Yelper extroidinaire, Janet S., I stayed away in fear of the stuffiness that comes to mind with a wine bar. It was the weekly bluegrass group, Touch of Grass, that play in Corner's basement that finally lured me in. And boy, am I am glad. I was in need of a little food, so I quickly placed an order as they stop serving food at 10 p.m. Roasted chickpeas and a bowl of gazpacho (I seem to be on a gazpacho kick as of late). Roasted chickpeas = amazinggg! They had a crunchy outside with a soft center. As for flavor, there were hints of sweet and salty spices with lemon zest mixed in. The gazpacho? I'm not so sure I would call it gazpacho. It was more like an Asian bbq soup with whole vegetables like broccoli, summer squash and red and yellow peppers. Enough about the food. I was there for the entertainment. Have you ever stopped to think just how damn sexy the harmonica is? Well, if you haven't - do yourself a favor and set aside a Friday or Saturday evening at The Corner Wine Bar to listen to the southern sounds of Touch of Grass. The four-man band that makes up Touch of Grass puts on one helluva show complete with a banjo, harmonica, electric guitar and bass guitar (don't quote me on the last one). The harmonica is what I'd consider 50% Jack Nicholson and 50% Tom Petty. Tom Petty's stringy hair and harmonica skills combined with Jack's orneriness and Wayfarer sunglasses - me, oh my. Needless to say, my friend and I didn't mind watching the harmonica player in Corner Wine Bar's basement go at it. Neither did all of the fans around us. Touch of Grass has a way of making the audience come alive without all the frills. The wooden and cozy environment surrounding the group paired with their lively pickin' and grinnin' creates the perfect atmosphere for a laid back evening.

Awesome laid back environment that is great for conversation. A nice beer selection for a wine bar. I met my friend, her boyfriend and his father there one evening and it was very relaxing and chill. We shared the fromage plate and I had the Brassierre burger as my entre. To die for, and also on special that night I do believe. Also our server was very kind and knowledgable.

I decided to visit after hearing a lot of really good things from some coworkers. They were right- this wine bar is quiet, has a great selection of wines, the customer service and knowledge base of the employees there is awesome and I can't get enough of their menu. I can see myself bring family and friends here to catch up and chit chat more in the future.

Went on a Sunday night for Chowdown Midtown, encouraged by excellent Yelp reviews. We were hoping for a nice, well-prepared dinner for a steal price. Instead, we ended up having dinner at a place with nice ambiance and mediocre food for what we paid. We started with the house red, which was a little underwhelming but drinkable. Apps were the steamed artichoke, which was very tough, and fromage, which included a delicious but skimpy (finger-sized) cheese selection. The old ball and chain got the chicken saltimbocca, which he said he enjoyed. I got the beef skewers, which would have redeemed the meal if they hadn't been incredibly salty. As far as entrees go, it seems to suffer from the almost but not quite syndrome. If the chicken had been better seasoned, if the sides had been more inspired, if the beef hadn't been so salty, if the presentation had been more interesting...the list goes on. Even the dessert (cheesecake for both of us...duh) seemed to have been frozen then thawed a little too much. I'll probably go back to try the $12.95 menu and the wine specials because of all the great reviews and the amount of potential that this place seems to have. Corner Wine Bar, I want to like you!

Eh...don't need to return. Sat at the bar and waffled over the menu bc nothing really stuck out. Ordered the prosciutto wrapped chicken skewers to get started. Cooked well, but the sauce it came with added nothing but moisture. I followed up with the brussels sprouts side dish and was underwhelmed with the inclusion of the stems (inedible) and oil. I thought about an order of cheese for dessert, but at $8.95 each I passed. Decent service, incongruent menu, and poorly executed food. Also, I expect a "wine bar" to have more than one Cabernet by the glass.

After a 5 mile walk on the Monon, my friend and I decided to have dinner at the Corner Wine Bar. Their $12.95 menu featured Sunday-Thursday is a wonderful way to eat out without breaking the bank or your diet as the portion sizes are just right. While my friend enjoyed the Tilipia from this special menu, I was craving a salad, but not one of the fru-fru ones on the regular menu. Therefore, upon discussing what I wanted with the waitress, she suggested the Caesar Salad with Chicken, and added tomatoes and cucumbers. Perfect! We both opted for the two Malbec wine flight ($6) and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. I'm always happy when I can have a satisfying meal with wine for under $20.

I love this place. It's small, quiet and awesome for some quiet drinks and conversation. You're a bit close to your neighbors -- it's not a big place -- so don't get too graphic and comfortable. But the cheese selection is superb and there's just enough wine to make sure all the bases are covered. And our waitress was sweet as pie, quite prompt but never too involved in the service. She was there when we needed her and gone when we didn't. Definitely going to be a hang out!

Solid bistro style food. Sometimes they absolutely nail it with the food and sometimes it is merely good. I have never had anything bad and always enjoy myself. The ambiance is fantastic and service is superb. The service really shines.

Wanted to try something in Broad Ripple as have had enough disappointments in DT . Well , let's start getting less than stellar food & wine in another part of Indianapolis! I am certain that there has to be a decent place here, we just haven't found it. But, I digress. This place isn't a restaurant or a wine bar it's a travesty disguised as a cozy neighborhood spot that should be serving bistro food, good casual wines by the glass and wine bar appetizers. Instead it serves stale frozen chicken breast in disgusting cream sauce, frozen bay shrimp covered in some weird cheese on a store bought piece of toast, mushy chicken livers passing as pate and something called carrot soufflé that I can't even describe except to say it was orange and semi- gelatinous but not like polenta... Truly gag worthy! The wine list is worst , obscure labels , not boutique vineyards but truly obscure labels of varietals no one wants to drink , and a by the glass offering that is practically nonexistent. The only saving grace, the room was semi- cozy and the server was pleasant Otherwise , run for your life!

Wine selected for us was pretty swell and it was great that we could take it home. Good atmosphere; "Touch of Grass" is great entertainment as well. The brie was great but next time we'll have to try some of the food.

Thank you Indianapolis, for a much-needed visit home. Thank you Corner Wine Bar, for a fantastic dinner out (of course the company helps, too). I tend to avoid the Broad Ripple area like the plague and that's a shame, because there are some great eateries in this NE Indy neighborhood. The $12.95 menu was a huge draw for a recent dinner with friends. A choice of 5 entrees awaited me and I went with the lemon chicken. My dining partners sampled the tilapia, filet mignon, and linguine with chunky tomato sauce. Incredible. The chicken was perfectly cooked with a delicious lemon butter amazingness, served over a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes and a side of steamed asparagus. While the asparagus was a bit tough, the rest of the meal was great. I sampled the side dish of carrot souffle, which was sweet enough to be dessert (turned out that was my dessert for the evening). The filet mignon received rave reviews as well! Server was competent and friendly without being overbearing. I really liked the ambiance here as well -- we sat upstairs, which was quiet and relaxed -- though you are packed in a bit tight with your neighbors. We passed on wine for the evening but the selection was outstanding and the manager's special ($20 bottle) was something I'll try my next visit back here. It's not often you can find a special like this for $12.95 -- with tax and tip, my total bill (for 2) was $32. Not too shabby for an well-prepared meal with adequate service. I'd return again!

This is the best place for a pint in Broadripple. The bartenders are excellent and know their stuff. The food and atmosphere is great most nights except Saturday it's too packed as the night gets later. Great bar overall!!!

We took a friend here for dinner for her birthday. I might return for wine & cheese, but definitely not for the food. The good: the service was attentive and the 3 cheeses we had - Purple Haze, a blue from Oregon, and a creamy, herbal Italian cheese - were delicious. The wine options were nice (we took the "put your own flight together" option), though we ended up going with a bottle not available in the flights. The distressing: None of the entrees ordered were good. I had the Gemelli pasta in pesto with chicken & goat cheese, which comes with a *spicy!* warning in the initial part of the description. The sauce was neither spicy nor good, and the consistency was like glue. The chicken was dry as wood from being overcooked, and the goat cheese was a small ice cream scoop ball dumped on top. Horrible. Another person at the table had the Greek salad; of the salad, he said "the lamb is tough, and the vegetables on the skewers are cut to an unreasonably large size. It's hard to eat, and what I've eaten so far isn't good." The third member of our party had Tilapia Amandine, which, if anything, suffered from having no flavor at all. I think a greater problem is that it looks like the menu was established in the mid-90s and hasn't changed since. This would be less of a problem if the food had been good, but the quality of the food we ordered made the menu itself seem even more stale. Then again, it is the "Corner WINE Bar," so maybe the food isn't and hasn't been the focus. As I said in the beginning, I'd go back for cheese and wine, but I don't want to eat the food that they prepare again.

I would recommend thIs restaurant for one reason only - the outdoor atmosphere. It is a prime location in Broad Ripple, great for people watching on a cool summer evening. The food, however, was not as good. I ordered the Pecan Tilapia and my husband ordered the Lobster Ravioli, both which were served as if they'd been sitting under a heat lamp a little too long. The food was cold and flavorless, and the bottle of Chardonnay was nothing to brag about. We spent $108 for what we felt was worth about $50. Unfortunately, we'll likely only be back to sit outside and enjoy a beer next summer.

I had lunch at the Corner Wine bar and although I didn't have chance to enjoy a glass of wine, the food was excellent! I started out with the lobster bisque, it's so hard to find good lobster bisque, with just the right amount of sherry. This was almost sinful it was so perfect. I also had a taste of their orange/tomato soup and didn't care for it, too much worchestershire. The Salade Nicoise was amazing, a really generous piece of tuna, a perfectly boiled new potato, fresh crispy green beans, sliced boiled egg, olives and a nice vinaigrette. I pick out the anchovies, I like their faint taste but don't like to chew on them. I asked for the tuna rare. My companions enjoyed their meals as well, although frankly I can't remember what they ordered, I was so enamored of my bisque and salad.

Charming and cozy, Corner Wine Bar has got that covered. The place was busy on a Saturday evening, but there was still no wait, which was nice. The interior is pretty small, but it sounds like there may be a patio open in the summer months (clearly I was there in the arctic season). To be honest, this place is a bit more expensive than we planned on and I'm not sure we would have gone here for dinner had we known. We checked the menu on-line and found the sandwiches to be reasonable, and there is NO indication on the website menu that sandwiches are only served at lunch. With my little heart set on a Ratatouille sandwich ($8) or a Portabella Panini ($9), I was a bit taken aback when no sandwiches ended up being available. Sadness! Needless to say, we were already seated and I had to shift gears and adjust to the higher-than-anticipated prices. Entrees were mostly in the low $20's. Besides one pasta option (which most veg's find to be a cop-out for restaurants, I mean, I can make pasta at home, I want some creativity!), there is only one vegetarian entree available (Ratatouille -$17) which is served in bread bowl. One other option (besides salad) is a quiche, which you'll find listed in the salad section. However, this may or may not be veg-friendly on the day you're there because it changes daily. BOTTOM LINE: Charming place, nice service, good food. On the pricey side and annoying that the website fakes you out with the sandwiches on the menu that aren't really an option.

My friend and I came here to eat during their Chowdown Midtown event. We ordered the Caprese Salad and the filet mignon. They salad was ok, but the steak was delicious. It was cooked medium rare, just how I like it. It was very tender and flavorful. It didn't even need A1 sauce and I don't like using A1 sauce. The service there was very slow. I'm not sure if it was even that busy because we sat outside. Our food took a while to arrive and when the steak came out, it was just warm, which was a little disappointing. Overall, I am a fan of their steak, but everything else was just ok to me.

Late dinner in Broad Ripple, surprisingly GREAT! We went here for dinner this weekend when I had girl friends in from out of town. My husband made us a 9:30 reservation and made sure we had an outside table. The food was great! Fried chickpeas and bacon and eggs are a must have. The service was okay but ambience over compensated. With all the choices in Broad Ripple CWB can sometimes get skipped...check it out. We will most definitely be back.

Starter #1: Phyllo triangles. Dry and pedestrian. Starter #2: Fried Chickpeas. Ok, but forgettable. Entree #1: Filet w/ mashed. Under-seasoned and served medium (ordered med-rare) . Not a total disappointment, but underwhelming Entree #2: Salmon. Overcooked with meaningless veggies. Passable at best. Wine Selection: Generally impressed. Best part of the meal. Service: Overall good Atmosphere: Fun and energetic. We wish the food lived up to it.

I came here for a corporate dinner, and the boss was paying. That means there was no need to worry about price - everything is on the table. And just about everything was. WIthin our group we got very close to ordering one of everything. I didn't get to sample many of the apetizers, but what I did try wasn't very appealing. For entre I got the duck. Now, I know duck is usually fatty, but it's not normally this fatty. And usually a good chef could cook some of that out, making it a little crispy while maintaining a lower temperature. Aside from that, the service was terrific (especially given that we were a large party), the wine selection was pretty good. I had to walk up to the bar to get a better idea of the bourbon/rye/scotch and port selections though. By the way, it was pretty decent. The ambiance definitely helped. Being used to close seating, I wasn't put off by the spacing, and then the decor added to a hominess that made the place feel comfortable. The look, service and drink selection were the saving graces of this restaurant. On a side note though - our group went on $20 wine night. Normally I would expect to get somethign that might be a good bargain, because it's something management wanted to get rid of for some reason (clearing out an older vintage, got a good deal on a decent wine and have a bulk order). The choices we were receiving though, seemed to be more in the realm of bottles that were discounted by $1 or $2. Prime example - for $20 we were being served Mark West Pinot noir - the same bottle I get in NYC for $7.50 at the liquor store.

Tonight was the last night I go to this restaurant. I tried it again after two years. Three of us went for Chowdownmidtown and it was just ok. We all decided that we wouldn't go back. If you have 3 hours to spend waiting for food outside in a plastic patio chair that is just ok, this place is for you. I have better things to do. Not once did the owner/manager apologize for the wait. I got tired of continually going out and checking on a meter that I fed for two hours to begin with. I just never understood the hype. There were 15 people that left because no one was manning the hostess booth. Stupid way to run a restaurant on a night of a promotion. I had no problem with the server. She was sweet and they were running her to death. The dessert was awesome but didn't make up for the time absolutely wasted. My butt still hurts from sitting in that chair.

Went there for the first time for dinner last night with a group of friends and had a very pleasant experience. I wish I could remember the waitresses name because she was amazing! We enjoyed taking advantage of the Manager's Choice wine selection and both bottles she brought us were excellent. They also have an great martini selection! I decided to be price conscious and select from the discount menu (everything was $12.95) and got the Filet Mignon. The Filet was excellent but I wasn't fond of the mashed potatoes and green beans, however, others loved the sides so most likely just personal preference. I love the atmosphere and want to come back and try something from the main menu.

We had another fantastic meal and experience last night at the Corner Wine Bar. If you haven't been to this old standby in a while, I would urge you to strongly check it out. The menu is great, the food is wonderful, and there is a great wine, beer and spirits list. Lots of options of drinks, and not all sweet...Lots of sour and bitter options too! They usually have martini or wine specials as well. You can now eat at the Wellington (same food) which is now of course, smoke free. Both rooms, and including the downstairs - are cozy and warm... So perfect on a chilly evening. Highly recommended. ( i.e. if you don't get this, you are making a HUGE mistake) the Goddess Wedge, chickpea appetizer, beef bourguignon, salmon and lentils.... top it off with a delicious chocolate mousse... Hey, if you go on certain nights, you might even get to see Andra Faye, Scott Ballantine, or Jeff Ayers and other fab pals to watch while you are enjoying your meal.

We use to like this place, but the last time we went we were very disappointed. Had a reservation for the main dining room, but light was too bright and apparently couldn't be dimmed so we were seated in the basement. Umm, big mistake,. If you are going for a quiet dinner, I do not recommend the basement. I'm sure it's perfectly fine with friends and beer and the band playing, but not for a quiet dinner. Food is generally good, the menu could use a little more variety, especially for vegetarians.

This is the best spot in town for people watching. I love to sit on the patio and check out the broad ripple happenings. The patio is shaded so it is nice and comfortable. The food came from the kitchen hot and tasty. I really enjoy going there for great food, fun and free entertainment.

Dare I say that a resto in Indy embodies a bit of European charm? I think I shall! Corner Wine Bar was the perfect location for a weeknight date. My companion and I shared a few glasses of wine, a nice goat cheese appetizer and chocolate mousse. This place is casual, but still has a cozy, sophisticated ambiance you don't often find in the Circle City. My only complaint is the awful art on the walls. What IS it with bad art around here?

If I can wax sentimental - I asked my wife to marry me there some 23 years ago. Diamond Creek 1982 Red Rock Terrace and maybe a little Jordan cab - those were the days. We had enjoyed the place so much - learning about wine from very patient then owner - Nancy. We only go occassionally now but the wine grab bag idea is a fun one. Food is still interesting.

Let's see... where do I begin? I see all the great reviews which almost compels someone with a bad one to not post anything. However, this is not the case with me. I live in Phoenix, Az. and sent my sister who lives here a gift card for $100 to her for her birthday. I had read great things about this establishment and figured that I couldn't go wrong. Well, I am in town and she had not used the card so we decided just this Friday night to use the card for a bite to eat and some wine. I dropped her off at the entrance and then went to find a parking space and proceeded to walk back to the bar. Upon my arrival I see that my sister's foot is bleeding and had blood on her feet and shoe. She explained to me that the waitress dropped a glass and it broke right beside her foot and several pieces of glass was stuck in her foot. I then witnessed them taking her inside where they, a staff member put Neosporin on it and a band aid. We ordered food and a few glasses of wine. We thought naturally that if one comes into an establishment and gets injured the manager would come right away to handle the situation. Not the case. I kept looking at this lady from a short distance and assumed she was just a hostess but when I asked for the manager it turned out to be the lady who I thought was the hostess. She was manager/owner. Her name is Liza Zapata. She witnessed the whole incident. When I asked her about her lack of attention to the problem she answered stating that she just thought we might not want a lot of people crowding our table. What???!!! Someone is bleeding and injured and you thought???!!! She left this very young but sweet waitress to handle the situation. The waitress was very apologetic and offered to give us dessert on the house. But get this, it was not on the house. She would have to pay for it out of her own pocket!!! This is what the waitress told us!! Our bill came and it was $129.00. We was charged for every single dime of the bill to my surprise! I then requested for the manager/owner to provide an explanation as to why she did not attempt to make up for our horrible experience and then she took the bill and specifically picked out item by item right in front of us what items where my sister's and removed those charges very reluctantly. I thought it was unprofessional and exhibited a lack of class and etiquette to say the least. I don't know about all of you but many of you know that if this happened in most GOOD restaurants or bar, the entire table's meal would have been taken care of and in many cases would have been provided with a gift card to come back again to try them again with a promise to make the next experience much better and to one's liking. She didn't even offer a bottle of wine to my sister on her way out! She merely went along her way and acted as if she was the one that had the attitude! AND!!!! The food really was not all that great. I would give it an average at best. And please stay away from the the appetizer that is served with wedges of bread then topped with pimento cheese and shrimp! They try to trick people with dishes like this because they try to make you think they are being creative with their dishes but in reality all they want to do is dress up food with cheap ingredients and poorly executed cooking skills and call it inspiring. Not!!! She did gives her number.... Huh???!!! What was that supposed to do??? !!!!!! NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS WILL WE EVER RETURN TO -- CORNER WINE BAR!!!

Very unique place in Broad Ripple area - I have strolled these streets many times but my friends and I had only visited for drinks after work before. This time, our party of 4 stopped by for an early dinner. We arrived around 7pm and it was pretty quiet for a Friday night, so I was a little concerned at first. Luckily, I was completely impressed by everything. The interior is very similiar to many charming French bistros I have visited in Paris and the U.S. - dark interior, large bar and the restrooms located downstairs. 3 of my companions, including myself, tried a different flight of wines - they have about 15 to choose from. A great way to try many different kinds of wines and we all shared and mixed and matched our favorites. Our dishes - 3 of us tried different pasta dishes and the 4th had the spinach salad and not one of us was disappointed with our choice. By the time our delicious dessert of creme brulee arrived, the place was HOPPING and we all left, feeling full and very satisfied. A young, fun crowd, not surprising given its location - we will definitely be back!

I have walked past the Corner Wine Bar many times, never venturing inside simply because the words "wine bar" make me think of guys with grey haired ponytails wearing sweaters, talking about jazz and the flavor notes of grass and jellybeans in the wine they are drinking. Well, we all know what they say about when you assume...and I totally did make an ass of myself for ignoring this place simply because of the name! I was so pleasantly surprised by this place - I really do wish I would have stopped in long ago. I loved the atmosphere inside...dark, intimate, and cozy. It really reminds me of a British gentleman's den - somewhere you would find Sherlock Holmes smoking a pipe and possibly shooting heroin after a long day of solving mysteries. I was also impressed by the music they were playing the night I was there, an eclectic mix of all sorts of things I am a fan of... lots of indie, and lots of stuff I was fond of in high school and college, it had me in a nostalgic mood. I tried ice wine for the first time while I was there at my companion's suggestion - it was delicious. Very sweet, almost like a port. I really enjoyed it. So I would say they do have fine wine here, although you can get beer and cocktails as well. I will definitely be spending more time here - it is easily my favorite bar in Broad Ripple that I've discovered so far!

Sitting on the patio in the rain, with unbelievable service and delicious food? It can't get much better than that. We went Friday evening, prime dining time, but we were never rushed from our table. We sat and enjoyed the beautiful view and the good company. We had the brie and the garlic boule to start. The cranberry compote on the brie was my favorite part of the meal. I ordered the Gemelli Pesto. It's got a lovely kick to it. I desperately wanted to finish the dish but it was far too much food with the appetizers. Plus I had to save a little room for cheesecake! Between the 4 of us we had 3 entrees, 2 appetizers, dessert, 1 bottle of wine with 2 extra glasses, coffee and a liquer the total came to about $240 with gratuity. Not too bad for the lovely dining experience.

We arrived late - 2pm - and had a hard time finding someone in the restaurant. We were about to walk out when the waitress appeared. Glad we waited! The cheesein-bread-with-apples-kind-of-fondue-thing was de-lish! It was made with a heavy orange cheese, maybe cheddar, and had pecans in it, served in a bread bowl. We passed on the wine as we had a long drive home - too bad. The burgers were served with thick, smokey bacon and provolone. Mine was served medium rare ( I asked for rare), but nice and juicy and had a smokey flavor. It was served with crispy kettle chips, a dill spear and tomatoes. Food service was slooooooow. Don't know why because we were the only people in the place. Gottta' admit - it was worth the wait. I'd love to return when I have time to enjoy the wine along with the great food.

The menu is a bit pricey for lunch. But then, when your Black and Blue salad is served with beef tenderloin quality enough to plate up almost rare, $14.99 isn't bad. Plus, the Wellington watering hole is downstairs! Here's a tip: Don't go until noon, or actually oneish, if you want to dine with people. This place is dead until lunchtime, when people start trickling in. Oh, and don't sit at the booth tables by the window, unless you like a seat back that only comes up halfway. That was annoying to me and my friend; we moved tables.

The neighboring sister-spot to the Wellington pub, CWB is a small, cozy dining room that serves up some of the best food in Broad Ripple. There is a small amount of quality outdoor seating, and this is a great option on temperate evenings in the spring and summer. CWB offers a filet special during the week for about $11, and along with great salads and other entrees, they have, as one would imagine, a great wine selection. The staff is knowledgable, so don't be afraid to admit if you don't know much about wine, but know that you enjoy drinking it, especially if it's good. Pay a vist there for meal, and then step next door to the Wellington for an after-dinner cocktail. Hope that Meghan is working; she's one of the best barteners around.

The Filet Mignon special is definitely one of the best deals in town. It was simply mouthwatering. My Fiance had Champignons and they came with a delicious carrot souffle. If you're into that sort of thing. Me, I'm a meat eater, and a drinker. Speaking of, they have great wine, but even better Single Malt Scotch. Mmm...Glanmorangie Highlands. Did I mention dessert? Chocolate Mousse, Fraises Chantilly. Good service, nice location. I'd definitely recommended it for a nice night out.

First things first ... it's not the wine bar that I'm giving my review on but the bar that's attached to it. Uh huh, it's the hole in the wall that is attached to it. and yes, this is a good thing. Thank goodness yelp is here for me to tell you about this place because I don't think many know about it. First question. Do you like beer? I'm not talking about the stuff that you can get at you local liquor store on a whim, unless you've got a recommendation of a place (I'm SO open to read about - please let me know). We stopped in, wasn't even sure it was open. There are no windows for you to view in. We had just finished a walk around the Broad Ripple strip and thought, "you know, we have walked by the place a few times, I wonder what it is" BTW, it's right across the street from Ben and Jerry's. David was working (I think that is his name). We ordered a couple predictable beers - me being partial to a beer with substance and my beau to substance and nothing to hoppy. After a few David knew exactly what we liked - which is always impressive to me. He would leave - going to that mysterious beer cellar and returning with a couple corked beers (good sign). I grant him the beer god of beer gods. Thanks goodness we were there a couple hours or I'm not sure if we could have made our way home. Beau finished the night with a divine whiskey, another "I knew you'd like, because I know your taste". Once I figure out the name of it, I'll post it. This place rocks ... we look forward to going back there soon.

This bar is called The Wellington. It is quite fun and generally draws a good clientele, but quickly loses it's quaint charm when it gets crowded and very very smokey (they may have gone smoke free since I was there last). They have darts and good imported beer on tap. It has always been the same bartender when I have been there, and his mood varies. He offers great service and recommendations when things are slow, but can be impossible to get service from and a bit cranky when things are crowded. In his defense he is usually the only staff with no servers. There is a downstairs bar, but that may be considered to be part of the Corner Wine bar. I have only been there once and I seem to recall the service being poor. It has the feel of hanging out in a friend's basement, whether that appeals to you or not.
