Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I live right around the corner and I eat here quite often. The food is very good and everyone working is very friendly. I would recommend the Hunan chicken! It smells a little like cigar smoke when you first go in but that is because of the cigar shop next door.

Excellent food and service, despite being located in a run down looking mall. Your food comes in microwave reheatable containers instead of the usual cheap styrofoam stuff you get at other restaurants, making it easy to reheat your leftovers. Unlike some other restaurants using suspicious artificial ingredients, the food was just as good when reheated the next day in the provided container. The lo mein noodles were fresh with plenty of fresh beef and green onion. I enjoyed the mongolian beef dish, which you could tell was fresh and real beef unlike the stuff they use at cheap restaurants and Chinese buffets. The mongolian beef had a fair amount of onions, which I didn't mind though. I would give a solid five star to the excellent food at Chow Express The service is good, at least for the take out order I did. I was greeted very promptly and the chef took my order with special requests quickly and correctly. The restaurant is very clean, and you can see the kitchen from the ordering area, so you know that they are not hiding anything shady inside. I would definitely recommend Chow Express to anyone who enjoys Chinese food.

Love Chow Express for lunch during the work week. Yes, it smells like cigars when you first get in the door but you'll get over it. Walk up to order, very fair lunch special prices. Fairly quick to serve your meal. Meal comes ready for a lid so you can take the rest home if need be. The best part about this place: the freshest of Chinese places I've ever been! You know that feeling you get after consuming something really greasy and it's usually Chinese food? Not here. The fried rice is still white! And its delicious. And the portions are great to have some for tomorrow's lunch.

This is the best take out Chinese food in the city. Trust me, I have tried most of these and not many compare. I love taking out on a Saturday night and watching movies with friends. The food is always really good. Ask for the shrimp egg foo young combo. They make it especially for me. He he!

The people are very friendly and the food is cheap and comes in great portions. I'm giving it three stars because it's nothing extraordinary but i still enjoy it quite a bit! If you live in the area and are looking for something cheap and easy on your way home then i suggest Chow Express.

Located in a strip mall on Shadeland, Chow Express is A yummy. Quick service spot. I've been dining here for years, never disappointed. Order the Fried Rice, General Tso's or the Egg Foo Young. Delish! Done or Carryout is available.

I have long been a fan of Chow Express. The service is always good and the food is delicious. I recommend their Shrimp Fried Rice. One added benefit of this small shop is that you walk away with reusable tupperware!

It's a take out Chinese joint with a nice interior! They have about 6 tables if you would like to eat in as well, and you might because it isn't a stereotypical dark and greasy place. I had the General Tso chicken lunch combo with white rice. They cooked it fresh when I ordered it and it was plentiful and flavorful. What more can you ask from a hole in the wall Chinese place?

This is our go to Chinese food place. Best egg rolls around. The best thing is their consistency. Never a bad dish. Quick, always fresh and they always are busy cooking. Real prices of chicken, not just chewy pieces of skin like most buffets. Vegetables are nicely diced and easy to eat.

New to this area and found Chow Express on Yelp. Lunch special (11 a - 3 p for $5.95) Curry Chicken was expertly prepared with generous portion. Includes rice and soda. Restaurant is very clean and service is fast. I'm back now for dinner takeout at my new go-to for neighborhood Chinese!

This is as good as it gets for low cost chinese. Excellent chicken fried rice! Not greasy or salty and it's still white meaning its was not loaded with soy sauce. You get to add your own. I have been looking for fried rice like this every since I moved to Indy 15 years ago. I got the chicken fried rice and veggie spring rolls at a cost of $8.14 including tax. the spring rolls were just OK, not many veggies inside but what do you want for $1.25? What a huge portion of chicken fried rice. I ate two plates full and still have enough for lunch tomorrow. Seriously two hungry people could eat and be full. Very flavorful and fresh. Friendly service. No frills but the place was clean and pleasant. One reviewer mentioned the smell of cigar smoke. None was present when I entered. All I smelled was the wonderful aroma of fresh chinese food being prepared. Lots of sizzling and pot banging going on in the back and that's a good thing. This was my first experience at Chow Express but I will def be back. I can't hardly wait!

Nothing special. When I got the tofu and veg, I was surprised it was silken tofu (not called out). I asked for fried rice but I got white.

Everyone needs a local Chinese joint to grab a quick fried rice and egg roll now and again. Well, I've found just that right down the road at Chow Express, located at the corner of 75th Street and Shadeland Avenue in the Marsh plaza. Yum! This place is NEVER busy--unfortunately for the owners but good for me. I can walk right in and order my favorite chicken and broccoli with an egg roll and have it in just a few minutes. Plus, I get to watch them make it (the kitchen is open right to the restaurant, so there's no mystery involved at this family-owned establishment.) I love to hear the wok sizzle and smell the veggies and meat as they cook. A bit pricey, however, at $7.50 per order of chicken & broccoli. Sometimes I actually am nice and share an order of shrimp fried rice ($6.50) and a couple egg rolls ($1.25 each). Lunch specials are $4.95; dinner specials will cost you $6.50.

Ordered from here on a Yelp review recomendation. I have had some recent frustration with our normal go-to Chinese food place. Overall it was OK, nothing to write home about-but maybe a few notes on Yelp I would not eat AT the store front. It is next door to a cigar business, and yuou can smell it.The last thing I want to smell while I am eating is cigars. YUCK!!! The Pheonix shrimp had a good spice level, but, as with most Chineses food store front locals, it was drown in sugary he eggroll and crab rangoon had an odd earthy flavor to it. The search continues...

Pretty good for a walk-up type of place. They have most of the standards, but it's not a cookie-cutter identical kind of place. No back-lit pictures. Custom menu, not the red-green "standard". The dining area is tastefully decorated in an understated way. TV up on wall. Track lighting. Serve-yourself plastic utensils/napkins. Order at counter. They will bring your food to you if you dine in. Self serve soda fountain. Dine in food served in foam to-go container. One negative is that when you walk in, you can smell some of the fresh cigars/tobacco (UN-burnt, not smoke), from the cigar/tobacco store two doors down. I stopped noticing it quickly, and it is not smoke, so it didn't bother me. The dine-in tables are a little bit too high, so they may be uncomfortable for some.

I have lunch here a couple of times a month. It's a strip mall location with seating for about 25. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Food has always been well cooked (tender crisp veggies and well done meat). No complaints about freshness of food and staff is friendly. Never had to wait too long for food to be served and never had more than a couple of people in line to order before me. Good menu selection and they are willing to make changes when requested. Overall a well run establishment for a low budget Chinese food restaurant.

The General Tso's chicken here is really good. Super fast and friendly service. Definitely a great place to go for a tasty and speedy lunch or dinner.

The best Chinese food this side of... If you want quick, abundant and a great price, you have to come here. Family favorite, Chicken broccoli and large rice (about $11.00) all of us eat. My daughter loves to talk in Chinese to the lady in the restaurant, we always order take out.
(4)Jordan M.
The Hunan Chicken, extra spicy, I'd say the best on this side of town. The dinner special is around $7 and is enough food for two people.

My wife introduced me to this little joint. Best Chinese take out in Indy. We live on the north side and have no problems with calling in a special order to go. We have been trained to do a double check to make sure we get our fortune cookies, but that's about all i can say about the place. It rocks
