This is probably one of the few places in Indianapolis that deserve a 5-star rating. I have been dining at various Patachou locations for 2 years and have never had a negative experience. My first experience with their coffee blew me away - it's always hot, full-bodied, never acidic, and brewed at the right temperature to bring out the flavors. The variety is always great, and find myself back at the carafes refilling my cup more times than I care to mention. Order breakfast food. Always order their breakfast foods. The omelettes are large and inventive, and the cracked yolk sandwiches are equally tasty. It's nothing terribly inventive, but it really can't be beat for a relaxing, hearty breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Be sure to order the cinnamon toast as your side!

Broken Yoke Egg Sandwich with Bacon is scum-dilly-uptious! It must be because I order whether I'm there for breakfast or lunch. I tried the banana and strawberry smoothie. It was ok, little pricy. The coffee there is great, some of the best. My ONLY complaint, and I'm not sure I'm alone on this, I don't like that I have to get my own coffee. I'm not sure why it bothers me so much. It is the only drink you have to get on your own there. The soups here are also really good. This means a lot coming from me because I don't like soup a whole lot.

My mom, sister and I came here for brunch and all had omelettes with cinnamon toast. I would recommend the food, but I definitely felt it wasn't worth the price. My sister asked for a Diet Coke, and it ended up being one can for $1.95. I ordered a coffee and only had one cup, but it was $2.95! We paid more than $50 for brunch for the 3 of us - I'd probably skip it next time.

Restaurant owners that decide to self-serve coffee from hot pots obviously are not coffee drinkers, that part was very disappointing, otherwise it was ok albeit overpriced.

I don't get it. I really don't get it. The Patachous seem to be a "thing" in Indy and I have no idea why. I went to the Petite Chou at Clay Terrace and was disappointed. I then went to this location hoping I would finally experience what the fuss is about. No such luck. Living in LA, it's not the price that gets me but the fact that the food is boring, bland, and unimaginative. I give it 2.5 stars but I'm rounding up b/c I do think it's a cute space and non-chains are hard to find in Indy. Also, the hazelnut coffee is amazing.

I'm not going to lie-it took me several attempts to find something I liked on the menu. I finally landed on the Cuban Breakfast, which was amazing. And the cinnamon toast is great, like others have said. I didn't give Patachou 5 stars because while I love the 'serve yourself' coffee concept, both times I have gone this month there was a coffee issue-the boards had one thing listed (which I only fixed on because we were waiting for a table) and what was served was different (Frangelico listed, Banana Nut served?) I think if the bussers did a better job of alerting the 'board writers' this wouldn't be an issue. Also, if you don't want to wait, come to breakfast on Saturdays before 10am.

I've heard the one on Pennsylvania (the original one) has the better atmosphere. This one lacks a little in that department, simply because it's in a strip mall next to Keystone At the Crossing. But...the food is friggin' awesome. I always had impeccable service coming here, plus I could bring my dogs and sit outside. In fact, one time we called to see if the wait for an outside table was too long to bring our dogs. When we got there, someone had saved an outside table for us, complete with two water bowls. That's memorable service. And honestly, I've never had anything here besides breakfast, but the breakfast is so fresh, eclectic and well-prepared that it just became a pilgrimage. I also like the fact that this is a local establishment, not a chain, which is unfortunately a pandemic problem in Indy. The owners obviously take pride in their product and it shows. I can't give this location 5 stars only because...well, it's in a strip mall. But that's the only reason.

Undoubtedly my favorite place for breakfast, thanks to the "omelet of the day" feature. Never seems to matter what that consists of, I always order it. Hot, fresh and usually stuffed with some interesting combo of gourmet ingredients, this "du jour" offering never fails to satisfy my Patachou cravings. The kicker for me is the side of half plain/half cinnamon & sugar toast and the little fruit cup. Why does fruit salad always taste so much better when I have it here??? Other things I've tried at the P: the smoked salmon, the chicken salad and the croissant french toast as well as some of their desserts. I also highly recommend buying some of the house granola to go. Service at Cafe Patachou is good and the atmosphere is unique - one thing that always keeps me coming back. Being able to grab your own cup of coffee while you wait for your table is a bonus. Nice outdoor seating here at this location also.

Years ago I loved the Cafe Patachou on Pennsylvania and maybe it is still good. The Cafe Patachou in Carmel is overpriced and over rated. The food isn't bad, but to me it is nothing expceptional either, particularly given how expensive it is. The Carmel location is a nice Sunday bike ride away, but my family has decided that we can spend out money elsewhere and get more bang for our bucks.

Delicious food prepared with fresh ingredients. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I had an omelet and it was yummy. The patachou coffee blend was bold and tasty also, and self-serve coffee means you never have to rebalance your mix or be interrupted by servers splashing joe in your cup. The place was remodeled recently, and while the design is sleek it is a little chilly.

The food is a bit expensive for simple fare, but it's executed incredibly well. For the multiple times I've come here, I've always had an excellent meal. For the indecisive, go with the omlette of the day. Expect more families and kids at the northside locations.

This is, hands down, my favorite breakfast joint, and i ALWAYS go here when I'm in town. I've been here perhaps 100 times, and it's always great! The things to order are the omelets, and they're stellar. They offer an amazing selection of options, and they come with your choice of homemade toast. I always choose the cinnamon toast, not only because it reminds me of being a kid, but because it's so sinfully satisfying... I also suggest the fresh fruit cups and homemade granola. The original Patachou is on 49th and Pennsylvania, and is also just as fabulous if you're closer to mid-town or Broad Ripple. There are also several other locations scattered about the city. *one caveat: the coffee is only decent, kind of on the weak side for me.. enjoy!

Three words, my Yelpers...... "Broken Yolk Sammich!" That's all you need to know when setting foot in a Patachou. I recommend going to the location on Penn as it's not as busy as the others. Like most Indy-brunchers, Patachou is one of my favorite places for a Saturday or Sunday place for eats. I love their mimosas (the lavender one is so sweet and pretty in it's flute), I love their menu, and OMG...their coffee (can't say no to a cup 'o Joe from this place.) Need I say more? Have I sold you yet? I recently got to try their Full Bellied Pig sammich -- holy peanut buttery goodness with bacon and jalapeños! A must try for those who love a good PB 'n J sandwich. As long as their doors are open, I'll still be goin'!

Love this place. Great atmosphere and the food is really good. I had the broken yolk sandwich -- avocado, bacon, white cheddar on wheat. Very similar to a California Eggs Benedict. It was really, really good. I ate it open face since two huge slices of bread is too much. But it was awesome. The side of fruit was really fresh and delicious. Service is relaxed and solid.

My bad. This review is WAY overdue and has probably been sitting in draft form for a couple of years now. The struggle is deciding what to order - every. time. I have some "usuals" but am never disappointed in other items either. First Timers - here are some tips: 1) Depending on the weather it can be really crowded, especially during the winter months - so be patient. But if it's nice out - decide whether you want to sit inside or outside. 2) If you have a wait, help yourself to the coffee bar. Love. love. the Omelettes. The best one I've ever had was an OmeletteOTD: bacon, tomato, basil pesto, and parmesan. Add that on with cinnamon toast [so good!], lightly dressed greens and blueberry coffee...I'm in heaven. That there folks is my unicorn. It does not exist. So, I usually go with a Custom Omelette (with a side of fruit instead of greens) and have to choose three from a variety of exquisite toppings such as: bacon, kale, white mushrooms, sausage. Don't forget the Sriracha! If I'm in a lunch mood, I'll go with the House Roasted Turkey Sandwich. Now I know what you're thinking...no it's not like deli meat from your local grocer. It's the real deal.

Local, Indiana items featured on the menu is a PLUS. My brother-in-law ordered the Full-Bellied Pig and loved it. My wife had waffles and they were great. I had a custom omelette with cinnamon sugar bread and was great. The meal is very filling and we got fruit cups. It's unlimited refills on coffee and there were some fun coffees featured. Our server even asked us about special dietary concerns!

Oh, Cafe Patachou, how I love you and your broken yolk sandwich with an apple juice. I usually get the Broken Yolk sandwich with bacon and avocado. When you bite into that sandwich and the warm yolk spreads all into the bread, it is indescribable. Their ingredients taste so fresh and decadent. The vibe is causal and fun. The only bad thing about Cafe Patachou is the wait. It seems that there is always a long wait on the weekends, no matter the time. The service is always prompt and friendly. I cannot wait to go back!

The Cubano breakfast is a must ! Also try the peanut butter , strawberry jam, bacon, and jalapeño sandwich i.

  • Olivia M.

I always leave Patachou feeling satisfied. My go-to is the Cuban breakfast. You can't go wrong with avocado, and the spinach-jalapeño sauce adds delicious flavor (and not much heat, in case the the jalapeño would deter you). If you're in the mood for something sweet, the croissant French toast is amazing. Also, I walk with crutches and I appreciate that even though the coffee is self-serve, the waiter has automatically brought my first cup of coffee to the table during my last few visits, no questions asked. This is good enough coffee that you don't want to risk spilling it! The restaurant definitely has a bustling "student union" feeling, except I hung out longer at my student union because there wasn't a brunch crowd staring me down. Come here early (before 10) on the weekends if you don't want to wait.

I LOVE this place. The food is absolutely heavenly. One of my favorites in the world. Get the cinnamon toast. FYI, slightly on the pricey side. Loud. But totally worth it!

  • Melissa K.

Oh, Patachou. You would have been 4 or 5 stars had it not been for my last three experiences there. Let me start out by saying the food here is amazing. The cinnamon toast is to die for (if you think you know cinnamon toast, you just don't), and their omelettes are scrumptious. They have cheeky names like "The Overachiever" and "The Hippie with a Benz". They have ingredients like sour cream and horseradish, and the best bacon I've had in an omelette. I have always gotten an omelette because they are too good to pass up, but everyone I know who has had other menu items rave about those. You also get a lot of food- the omelettes come with toast and a cup of fruit (which I believe you can substitute for some other items). The wait times are average for brunch places around Indy. The problem with Patachou is that it is very tiny, so there isn't a good place to stand and wait for a table. You constantly have to move to get out of the way for people. Small price to pay for the delicious food. Now, the reason I am giving two stars is because of three incidents my friends and I have had in a row: 1) My friend had an omelette that tasted like straight up gasoline or kerosene. I tried it myself, and it was the most vile thing I have ever tasted in my life. Literally. No exaggeration. It tasted like how kerosene smells. The problem was corrected, but the reason for why this happened was because it meant the pan needed to be changed. What? What does that even mean? The pan got so dirty it started to taste like gasoline? I'm still puzzled by this. 2) The next time I went with my friends, my other friend got a nasty surprise in her fruit cup. There were wet sugar packets underneath the fruit in the cup. Gross. 3) The third time, it was time for me to find a fun surprise. I found a tiny hair in my food. The waitress and manager (?) were very apologetic and brought me a new omelette. If only one of these had happened, I'd be okay with going back. Three incidents in a row? I've never had that many problems with cleanliness at a restaurant before. It makes me nervous to eat there now, which is too bad because the food is amazing!

The same Cafe Patachou goodness you know from 49/Penn at the Keystone at the Crossing location. It's a full-blown Patachou, not Petite Chou, so the menu is the same awesomeness! The interior has a different vibe -- higher ceilings, less of a "quaint cafe" feel. Overall just more a more modern feel with big windows for lots of natural light. I don't know what the seating capacity is BUT I went in there on a weekend for brunch and they were so busy it was going to be a 30 minute wait. On the weekends, get there early in the AM or be prepared to wait a hot sec!

Had the quinoa and oatmeal hot cereal with a side of lowfat Greek yogurt and fruit. Delicious! Fruit was fresh. Husband had same but larger size (bowl), daughter had the stuffed French Toast, she aid it was amazing!

We were in town from Seattle with 18 16-17 year old boys for a soccer tournament. The entire staff was amazing! They didn't hesitate to accommodate a group of 22. The food was fantastic and speedy. Without question our favorite breakfast spot on our visit!

They use excellent ingredients--you won't get a bad meal here. Anything with ham or bacon is going to be good. They also have good bread--I'm a fan of their cinnamon toast to be sure. If you want a solid breakfast or lunch sandwich, this is a good choice. I actually like getting my own coffee... if you want coffee, no need to wait for the waiter, just go get it. My only gripes are lack of creativity and it is awfully pricey for Indianapolis.

I love Patachou, so I was happy to see that there was a location near the hotel where I was staying. I travel to Indy A LOT and am familiar with the downtown Patachou. I primarily eat breakfast at Patachou although I have also had salads for lunch. I almost always order an omelette. My two trips to this location were no exception. I ordered the Bon Vivant one morning, an omelette with Jack cheese, bacon, avocado, sour cream and salsa another. Both were excellent as usual. The coffee is good, and strong and you don't have to wait for anyone to get it for you. One visit I sat at the bar, great friendly service, once at a table with a friend, good service there too. Patachou is a solid choice for breakfast.

I met up with a friend on her way through town here, having been to the Broad Ripple location before. I have to say that Patachou is one of my go-to restaurants for vegetarian food, and they always deliver. The vegan omelette is amazing - chickpea "crepe" smothered in hummus, beans, greens, and sauces. The field roast is also definitely worth a taste. This location is by the mall, so it was pretty crowded when we went. The space isn't the best - not a lot of room to maneuver and lots of people crammed in at small tables. I much prefer their other locations in terms of comfort. However, the food and service are great, so 4 stars.

My wife and I dined here whilst passing through. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, but don't be deceived. You will find locally sourced food prepared with car, served with attention and friendliness, and a delight to the palate. The coffee alone is worth the stop. We arrived just prior to the morning rush, which was fortunate as the wait was quite long as we were departing. I had the smoked salmon and eggs and my wife had a fresh omelet. We felt nourished by the fresh food and friendly service. Stop in!

The restaurant was adequate. Food quality average. We were there for breakfast on Sunday. We had a Bloody Mary which was ok but lacked the necessary spiced taste so it was rather bland. The service was very good, our server was very nice and attentive. Had the food quality matched the service I would have given a better rating. Probably will not return unless we go with a group, but doubt we would return on our own.

We had eaten at Napolese (which is owned by the same people as this café) so we had high hopes. Sadly, this disappointed on most fronts. We were seated outside and were greeted by our server promptly, placed our drink order hot chocolate (~$4.25) and water and then started reading over their menu. Aft a long wait, we got our drinks. The hot chocolate was filled about half way up the glass, was barely warm and the whipped cream had mostly melted so it had been sitting out for a while, which made sense since it took so long to get. It was decent, probably would have been better actually hot and filled to the actual top of the glass. We wanted to say something, but our waiter was no where to be seen for another long chunk of time. We eventually got to place our order and the food was brought out by people who weren't our waiter. I ordered the salmon sandwich, the others ordered the Cuban and the bacon avocado sandwich and two orders of Cinnamon toast (we were told by friends that it must be ordered). My sandwich was cold and the salmon was warm; the other food was the same. The toast essentially had a pile of cinnamon in the middle and nothing else outside. We tried to spread it, but by then it was a lost cause being absorbed into the toast. Once again, we wanted to say something but our server (or any server) wasn't around. After everything, I spent $58 before tip on brunch that was hard to call mediocre and service that was pretty bad. It was an hour and a half from seating to getting the bill and even after there was a hard time finding someone inside to whom I could complain. We eventually just paid and left. The toast was good (not the cinnamon cluster) and the quality of food has the chance to be worth it, assuming it would be properly prepared and served in a decent timeframe. I can't see the want or need to return or recommend.

This is a great place for breakfast, lunch, and of course that weird melange of meals, brunch. The food is solid, the omlettes are excellent, and the service is fast. Coffee is ok, not as strong or rich as I'd like it, but I roast my own beans at home, so I am spoiled by that luxury. I highly recommend their namesake omlettes as they are excellent. I've only had the "Omlette You Can't Refuse" (bacon, potatoes, sour cream), and the "Piggy Piggy Piggy" (ham, sausage, bacon, and cheese), but my friends attest to the Hippie with a Benz and others on the menu. You get a side of fruit or a side of mixed greens, and a choice of toast. Go for the cinnamon toast, as it's buttery, delicious, and not too sweet. I've also had assorted soup and salad combos, as well as some of their sandwiches. Portions are big and hearty, but healthy in that protein loading way. It can get packed quickly on the weekends, so go early. I thought that 10:15 on a Saturday would be early enough, but there was already a big line and a 35 minute wait. No matter though, since the meal was worth it. Prices are reasonable too--my meal with tax and tip (didn't have a drink) was $14.

Do not even get me started on how much I adore this Indianapolis staple brunch restaurant. Living in San Diego now, I dream of breakfasts at Patachou, and everytime I come home to Indianapolis, this is my first stop in the morning! Obviously, it's hard for me to stray from my go-to Broken Yolk sandwich with avocado, but on the rare occasion that I do opt for something else, the Hippie With a Benz omelette is also scrumptious :) I love everything about Patachou, though (except for the long wait that you sometimes have to deal with). The coffee is always wonderful with at least 4 choices, and it's nice that you can enjoy a cup before you are seated...definitely makes the wait more bearable for everyone involved. Just a few other tidbits: I also enjoy the Tomato Artichoke Bisque before my Broken Yolk sandwich because it is so excellent (although usually scalding hot)...but on Fridays, the Motza Ball soup is served and oh boy is it good! Also, although I certainly have more of a salty tooth than a sweet tooth, I have tried the cinnamon toast and it is unreal...so perfectly prepared and tastes just like the amazing cinnamon toast my mom would make for me when I was a kid! You are definitely missing out if you don't make it to a Patachou location when in Indy...my only wish to make Patachou even better is for a location to open in San Diego!

First thought. 'Wow this place is packed. 45 minute wait for brunch? No way it can be worth the wait.' We waited. Second thought. '$11 for an omelette? No way it can be that good. I can make an omelette better and cheaper at home!' Well I ordered the omelette. The piggy piggy piggy to be exact. And it was worth it. The ingredients were excellent quality. The presentation was better than I could have ever done. The service was quick! Not to mention I got a side of cinnamon toast that was drool-worthy. I honestly don't know why I was so surprised. I've been to Petit Chou, and Public Greens (same owners) and those places are excellent. Go here, get an omelette, drink some coffee and eat some toast. It's a great way to start the day.

If you're going out to get brunch, go to Cafe Patachou. This place is a guarantee to leave you full and satisfied. This location has a larger floor plan and a more open feeling with the high ceiling. The modern design fits right in with the vibe you'll get from the fashion mall and everywhere else around it. There's a reason this place is always packed. The service is outstanding and the food is amazing. The menu is large with plenty of options all around. I get a different omelet every time I go here, and I still haven't tried each one yet. There isn't a single thing on the menu you won't like. For the most part, everything is very reasonably priced. My last visit, my girlfriend ordered a small cup of strawberries that ended up being $7. I thought it was pretty steep for a side, but by no means did it prevent me from enjoying my favorite cafe. The seating is close knit, but it only adds to the feel of a great cafe. Give this charming cafe a try, but just be aware that you might have just found your new favorite place

Really great food, fast service and the best Mimosas and Bloody Mary's in town. On the down fall the atmosphere is crowded and loud. Tables are really close together. Outdoor seating is available when the weather permits. Local farmers are used for the menu including Indiana bacon.

FANTASTIC. I went with a group of 5 ladies and waited about 25 minutes for a table. We took a 4-seater and added one chair, which turned out to be a little too cramped. The waiter asked if we minded and we said no, but only after being squeezed together did we realize it wasn't really enough room. Regardless, we were happy with the service, food selection and drinks. I got the smoked salmon and was very pleased. Also, the cinnamon toast is not to be missed. One of the girls with us is gluten free and she had a good amount of choices, too.

When I visit my daughters in Fishers (from San Francisco), we have a wonderful tradition of leaving the men and kids behind and brunching at this Patachou. If I lived there, I would be trying all versions of this fine company. It's always the highlight of my visit. Thanks, this time, to Tabitha for such excellent service. Yum!

We can't get enough. This is our favorite spot in Indy. The food is always fresh and delicious. Perfect on a rainy day. I recommend the broken yolk with avocado. The toast is to die for. If you don't think toast can be that good, you've never had Patachou's toast. The blueberry crumble coffee will blow you away.

I have to respect the niche this place fills in the Indianapolis area. If you're in the market for a $20 breakfast sandwich, well then you've found the exact right spot! While they have a limited menu, they probably have you covered unless you're a super picky eater. I understand the favorable reviews as I didn't have a bad experience and the food was pretty good. From what I understand, this place is a "locally sustainable" farm to table type of restaurant, which might explain the higher price. However, I don't think I'm the ideal crowd for this kind of joint. It was close to the hotel I was staying at (I could see them from the window of my hotel room), so I took a shot. I'm not disappointed, however I probably could have had the same meal at the hotel (free on my vouchers). If you're looking to meet up and have a cup of coffee and a "runny egg sandwich" with a (rich) neighbor, then this might be your breakfast joint--presuming they're paying of course :P

The food here is great! Nice presentation and coffee is help yourself at a designated area. Service was good once the server arrived. We sat around for quite a few minutes before someone took our order. I came here for a business breakfast. The ambiance is warm, bright and the food truly delicious. I had the broken egg sandwich which was a delight. Coffee was nice and strong. I would come back here if I'm visiting Indiana again.

I come to Carmel to visit my son. Unfortunately my visit to Patachou was a disappointment. After hearing wonderful things, and visiting this restaurant last year with no problem. This visit was definitely and issue. We were told our wait would be 20-25 minutes, no problem for us. But after 40 minutes I lurked inside to see why were weren't called. The hostess was seating other people before us in the same table, I questioned, and was told we are waiting for a 4 spot. I questoned about the four people who came 10 minutes behind us. They had a high chair?. This went on for 3 people who came after us as well! about the time we did get seated almost a hour, our waitress seemed to be preoccupied. she took our order, it came back wrong, with my son scraping off the sour cream he didn't want...I had to ask her for our bill, just a disaster. would I re visit, probably not.

Patachou has always been a favorite, and with a new menu its even better with more options including vegan and gluten free selections. The omelets, broken yolk sandwiches and cinnamon toast are some of my favorites. Today I tried the stuffed cinnamon french toast which was delicious and came with a cinnamon bacon maple syrup. The service was fast a friendly as well!

Not my favorite. Been to 3 other locations hoping it will get better and never does. Green Goddess salad is okay. Side greens salad that comes with the Simple Broken Yolk is drenched drenched drenched in oil. My boyfriend usually cleans his plates everywhere we go & he gave me his fruit, while managing to choke down only 1/2 of his omelette. I took home a carrot cake since someone raved about it to me but it is completely bland, no carrot or spice flavor. But that's all for me. I tried! Four times! No mas!!! P.s. And the nerve of the "tell a human" box in the corner of the menu... ...okay fine, I really liked the Frangelica coffee, but had to get it myself! Lazy me!

How have I lived up until this point with out knowing about the sandwich nirvana that is the "broken yolk" sandwich from Patachou? I indulged in the bacon, avocado, cheese and egg over-easy on whole wheat with a few dashes of Sriracha . It was KILLER. Only problem is that I foresee future cravings for this artery-clogger and will need to go back for more. Point off for having canned soda. Ain't nobody want a can of soda and no refills!

This cafe specializes in locally sourced and healthier ingredient options, but without sacrificing taste. I got a soup & sandwich lunch special here recently and really enjoyed it. I got a half tuna salad on toasted sourdough--the tuna was a bit bland (white albacore tuna and mayo), but good overall. For soup, there were several options and I decided on turkey chili which was robust and flavorful. The combo also came with a side of salad so made for a very satisfying meal overall. Service was friendly and attentive. Prices aren't low, but very reasonable for the amount and quality of food. The breakfast menu looked pretty amazing so would definitely come back here for breakfast, brunch or lunch.

Excellent brunch with great service. A little pricey for the portion size but definitely a great breakfast/brunch spot

I had lunch here a couple of weeks ago while attending a convention. I chose a combination of 1/2 chicken salad sandwich and a bowl of asparagus soup. Everything was wonderful. It was crowded with a line out the door, so I misunderstood something the waiter asked me. When I frowned at the chips I hadn't meant to order he quietly and quickly brought me a cup of fresh fruit. A+ service, A+ taste and quality. Every person in my party of five was pleased with her choice. Very convenient to Sheraton Keystone Crossing.

I am at odds with Patachou. The restaurant has a hip and modern vibe. They use fresh ingredients and have a decent menu, but it just doesn't thrill me, the prices seem a little high, and the food is just OK. Like many restaurants, Patachou isn't gluten free, but they do offer some items on the menu that can be accommodated, such as the omelets, salads, and sandwiches. They do offer Udi's bread, for a $1.50. That being said, I have to caution those who order the bread as toast, like many restaurants it is a shared kitchen and there is a chance for cross contamination. They don't have a separate toaster for the bread, your bread with no longer be GF if it goes through the toaster, so if you have any gluten allergy, make sure to not get the bread toasted when ordering a sandwich. Also, it can get crowded during the weekends and I would recommend arriving early if you do not want to wait. Also, they do have a self-service coffee area and if your table is right across from it, you can feel a little cramped with all of the people going back and forth to get their morning Joe.

Possibly the best Cobb Salad I've ever eaten! Not a fan of the coffee bar, though - and the big, open, high-ceilinged space was VERY chilly on a moderately chilly January day. Food a five, the rest a three.

I was nervous. No one greeted us or acknowledged us for almost ten minutes as we stood next to the host podium. They were busy, but I could see several tables with even more preparing to leave. It appeared we arrived on the tail end of a rush. I had nothing to be nervous about. We stopped in for breakfast on Black Friday before heading to the mall. After the minor glitch with not being seated immediately, we got a table near the front windows. About 50% of the restaurant has floor to ceiling windows, and while the view is mostly of a parking lot, the sunlight is welcome ambiance. I had the Overachiever omelet - Indiana bacon, white cheddar cheese, and horseradish. I will dream of this breakfast for years. The cheese was perfectly melted, the bacon was crisp and plentiful, and the horseradish added a nice kick to the dish. The side of fruit was ripe and a nice selection. So often places offer that but it's a bowl of just apples and grapes - this included pineapple and strawberries. And, for the love of all things breakfast, order the cinnamon toast. I could have made a meal just on that. The coffee situation is a little interesting -- they have a serve-yourself coffee station, which I'm sure is helpful for focusing service in other areas. Because the restaurant is a little crowded with tables, the trek to get coffee can be treacherous, especially when there are small children afoot.

My gf and I went on our first date here, so I'm conflicted by not giving this place a five star review. But my moral compass won't let me give five stars to a place that charges $10 for a slightly above average omelet! Ill start with what patachou does well. Service here is always spot on. The staff is trained well and they're polite. They also provide self serve coffee if there's a wait, which is an amazing idea that more places should do. They are also dog friendly, which is nice if you like dogs. If you don't, well you're just a bad person. I also like that they provide carafes for water. This just makes sense. It is less work for the server and the diner always has water on hand. The food is good, but.....it's too expensive! The omelettes, as I mentioned earlier, are around $10. We're talking about eggs, some veggies, and some meat and maybe cheese. While $10 might not seem like too much to some of you, also keep in mind that they don't come with any kind of potato side. To me a good breakfast place ALWAYS serves some kind of potato (hash, o'brian, patties, whatever) and patachou serves none. Heck, I'd even settle for a baked potato, just give me that breakfast starch. Yes, they give you your choice of toast or English muffin, but honestly, who actually eats the obligatory side of toast? On the upside, they serve booze.

By far my favorite brunch spot in Indy. Five words: cinnamon and sugar sourdough toast. They always place the perfect amount of warm butter and cinnamon/ sugar together - the combination is incredible. I only order the omelet of the day just so I can get the toast :). Their other dishes are exceptional though, from their Broken Yoke Egg sandwich, to their Tomato Artichoke soup, to their amazing omelet combinations, to their self serve coffee bar - this spot is the best. Service can be a bit slow so be prepared to wait & definitely don't hit up this place when you're in a hurry. Even with that being said this place gets 5 stars for that dang cinnamon & sugar toast & for being an all around adorable & delicious restaurant.

Five Stars. Five Stars. Five Stars. I would give Patachou every star in the universe if I could. What an incredible place, truly. First thing I know walking in is I feel like a million bucks. 30 minute wait and the greeters are friendly as ever and simply excited to see you. The promptness of greetings upon arrival was held above expectations throughout our stay. First stop? The very widely talked about, coffee bar. I began to wonder, "people say that this coffee is better than anything else on this earth..how could coffee taste so good?" But let me tell you...I was absolutely blown away. From my very first sip the coffee slid off my tongue as if it wasn't even there, it was just pure amazing entering my body. I feel a jolt of energy as I slips down warming me to my fingertips. I turn to my friend and tell her, you've gotta try this, she tells me she doesn't like coffee, I say, humor me. A sip later she's making a cup for herself. There's something in the water at Patachou. It quenches your thirst but feels as if you aren't drinking a thing. An elixer as most would call it, draws you in...while the atmosphere keeps you enthralled. A small kitchenesque European style cafe with a twist of modern charm. The white color of the walls and the shades of gray accompaniment generates a calming feeling to its audience. The small table we sat at, with a small flower added a boost of liveliness to the meal. Seats conformed to provide optimum comfort, and before we knew it we had been sitting for almost two hours. Although my friend is a great conversationalist we both know time flew by with an atmosphere that was neither rough on the eyes, nor harsh on the soul. Attributing the length of our stay strictly to the conversation and ambiance is definitely a strict truth. The service was epic. Friendly greetings and prompt service. Although my guest and I had fairly uncomplicated orders it arrived before we had a chance to think. An incredible chili and caesar salad is what fancied my guest as I inventively chose a roasted turkey sandwich. Surprisingly light the turkey seemed to have been cut directly from the Thanksgiving table herbed cream cheese added spices that inclined my taste buds to crave more, an added thick portion of lettuce finished it off. Served with a simple side of chips the meal was simply delectable. Dessert choice was a snicker doodle cookie to share and of course a refill on coffee. Leaving was like parting from my new favorite friend. Bringing a warm to go coffee with me I bid adieu with plans to return very soon.

Yum Yum Yum! I love brunch and mimosas...as does everyone else on Sundays so this place is very busy. The wait wasn't terrible though and they have an open coffee bar that is self serve while you wait. I tried the banana nut coffee, wow best ever! I wish they had a non dairy option out for creamer. They obviously have special diet options on their menu; it would be nice to cater to those as well at the coffee bar. They have almond milk if you ask for it; but everyone is so busy its hard to grab a server to get some before you are seated. They have a few different mimosas options including the usual, blackberry, and peach. They use homemade puree rather than just juice so you have to keep stirring, but still yummy. For my meal i chose the "omelette you can't refuse" which was basically a baked potato omelette with all the fixings! It was served with fruit (yes good fruit not just the cheapest they could find) and toast. Service was fine. Expect it to be crowded and busy on Sunday's, but otherwise great!

Great breakfast spot! Service was great through out the whole meal and gave individualized checks, going as far as even splitting a meal that 2 friends split on there different tickets. Also loved being able to sit outside. Have large awnings to keep cover in light rain. Really great experience, closed the place down and they never tried to rush is off! As far as food, great options. Wish I had gotten the croissant french toast as one of my friends did..... amazing! Had an omelet. It was decent could have used a little more filling. Fruit cups were very fresh.

Well, I know I'm going against the grain here, but I'm standing strong with a few of my previous Yelpers. "I just don't get it!" We've tried for lunch and a couple times for breakfast to see if we "could" get it, and it's a no-go again. I cannot justify the prices. Yes, they roast real turkeys & it's not processed deli turkey, and I appreciate that they buy free-range, antibiotic-free chickens, but come on! I also know that you can't compare restaurants to retail groceries (which I do because I cook at home alot), but you can compare prices to wholesale prices that they pay for food products! Omelet w/small fruit cup 10.95 Oatmeal 5.95, w/additional 1.00 for toppings 6.95 Croissant (dipped in egg & cinn.) french toast 8.95 Toast 3.00 and on sandwiches gluten-free bread has 1.50 upcharge Egg Salad sandwich 9.75; 1/2 sandwich 7.25 Iced tea 2.50 --Well nuff said about the $$$$, you can figure it out. It's a pure high profit place. This is a pleasant clean establishment located in a safe area. The service, although slow, has always been accommodating. --I just choose to spend my $, for the most "inexpensive" meal you can prepare, at so many great breakfast chains and local Mom & Pop places around Indy! --think about it

Lots of hype for OK to average tasting food. It's convenient for me to walk to this place for lunch. For $10.30 I get a cup of soup and half a sandwich with either fruit, salad greens or chips as a side. Not too bad on the price arena considering it's location (near the fashion mall). I have tried the tomato-artichoke and black bean soups. Black bean was pretty good, the tomato was OK... The flavor profile is so bland and boring... it needs a little something! But when I have to choose between the mall food court and this place, I guess Patachou gets my money.

  • Jen M.

Menu is promising. Love the locally sourced angle. I ordered a build-your-own omelette with bacon, smoked Gouda, and balsamic onions. The bacon was way overcooked and the omelette was overloaded with onions relative to bacon and cheese. The mixed greens that came alongside the omelette were the best thing in the plate. There is no arguing against their Bloody Mary with rim...killer good. Don't pass that up. But the food execution needs a slight boost. Service was a bit rushed despite the place only have 3 other tables of people besides ours. Disappointing.

Patachou has great food. Price is high in general terms but acceptable for the quality of food, service, etc. They have great breakfast options. I really love the Croque Madame and the Granola. I've also enjoy their dinner options on a few occasions and in both instances was very pleased. The restaurant is clean and very attractive. The staff has always been friendly. You should definitely try Patachou (any of their brands/locations) if you want to enjoy a great meal.

This is one of my favorite spots for breakfast. The atmosphere is clean and modern. Its very bright and open. The tables are a tad small, but they pack a lot of people in during their prime hours (breakfast to brunch time). This place is also packed during the week as well as on weekends, and I think that's because the food is outstanding. My favorite food here is the broken yoke sandwich with bacon and avocado. The sandwich is huge. It has two eggs and plenty of fixings. The eggs are always cooked perfectly runny which creates a savory gravy that match with creamy avocado and the salty bacon perfectly. Its served alongside a nice light cup of fruit. Patachou also has excellent coffee. One of my favorite things is looking at what the days options are when you first walk in. They have some really good regular coffees that rotate so you can almost always find something you didn't get on your last visit. Whether you're stopping in for breakfast or lunch this place is outstanding.

  • Brad K.

What can I say? I'm a regular here. About as regular as they get, I think. You'd think my five stars is based partly on the fact that as soon as I get to my counter seat, my iced tea is already waiting on me. But if I had never stepped foot in the place and was offering this review based on a first time visit, it would still rate 5 stars. Indianapolis has been blessed with a swell of nice new breakfast options over the last 5 years. The "power lunch" has become the "power breakfast" and we now have options. However, when asked, "can you pick a place to meet me for breakfast", Patachou rolls off my tongue faster than two poached eggs and cinnamon toast. Martha, the owner of the Patachou family of restaurants, loves detail, quality, consistency, atmosphere and delivers it through her staff with an effort that is effectively wild. You don't always know how it will be delivered, but it's always exceptional. Don't be afraid to move around the menu. Sure, you can play it safe with the always excellent omelette of the day, but be sure to check out the Cuban Breakfast, the Broken Yolk sandwiches, the lunch wraps, and my mom's favorite, the chicken salad on greens. Fresh fruit accompanies almost everything, and if it doesn't, add it anyway. If you're visiting Indy, don't miss this. If I had to pick my top five restaurants in Indy, Patachou is solidly on that list. Might even be #1.

I had breakfast with a friend here a couple weeks ago; we arrived around 9AM on a Saturday, and right after we sat down the crowds arrived! We were very happy that we just beat the rush. The food was quite good; I had a broken yolk sandwich with ham. I love that the ingredients are all fresh and local whenever possible, and that the default is to serve eggs the eggs with yummy soft yolks rather than hard and overcooked. The coffee is great, but you do have to get it yourself. I'm thinking this is less of an issue if you sit inside, but we were outside, so each refill meant working our way through the group of people waiting inside the doorway for a table both as we were going in for coffee and coming back out with a cup of hot coffee (excuse me, pardon me, excuse me, hot coffee coming through!) The outdoor seating is on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. They do welcome dogs outside, so be warned if you are not a dog lover! The tables are close enough together that if someone has a dog and sits next to you, the dog will likely be right next to your feet. That said, the dogs there the morning we were there were all very well behaved.

We were visiting friends and they took us here for brunch. The menu is what one would expect from a french restaurant doing breakfast/brunch. There were plenty of options but the menu is not overwhelming. I had a broken egg sandwich with bacon and avocado. It was delicious. The over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed her omelet. The fruit bowl was excellent -- everything was very fresh and ripe. I do not know what to think about the coffee situation. You get your own coffee from the bar. I presume this is because they have four different coffees available, but its a bit strange getting table service with self serve coffee. It was a bit inconvenient since we were seated outside and I had to go in to get our coffee. Their house blend was pretty good, though their costa rican was not what I expect from central american coffees. The wait was a bit long, but we were nearing the lunch hour on Father's Day so it was certainly expected. If I was back in town I'd definitely make a return visit and try out other things from the menu.

We like all of the Patachou restaurants, but the Keystone location is hands-down our favorite! There is just something about the staff there that makes me smile every time! Not to mention, Matt always makes sure they don't screw up my eggs! ;-)

Been here several more times lately, including once for lunch. I very much enjoyed the roast turkey sandwich. The service is always friendly and efficient and the ingredients are a cut above other breakfast/lunch joints. Its too bad that the previous reviewer is too insecure to judge the restaurant on the merits of the food and service.

What the heck happened to Patachou? My wife and I had nothing but great food at the one downtown, numerous times. However, the food we had yesterday at the Patachou Cafe up around 86th (Keystone Crossing area) was anything but memorable: BLT's that were small and really sparse on ingredients, very small cup of tomato artichoke soup for 7 bucks, so overall this was barely an OK experience, if not even less than OK. I also have to comment on the atmosphere: one single large room, very tight tables (pack 'em in just like a student union, um FYI their motto is "A Student Union for Adults"), overcrowded, and worst of all, patrons plus staff constantly brushing various parts of their bodies way too close to us for a comfortable and relaxing experience. Come to think of it, the absolute absence of a pleasing environment overshadowed the truly average (if not downright mediocre) food we were served. I said to my wife as we walked out their door at 1PM Sunday: Let's go to Le Peep next time we're up in Indy and compare the food and ambiance. She agreed wholeheartedly. Totally disappointing restaurant and experience. It's too bad they are averaging 3, 4, and 5 stars for complete mediocrity. Don't be fooled folks. 'Nuff said about Cafe Patachou at River Crossing; try a good and proven breakfast/lunch place like First Watch or Le Peep or even the Patachou downtown, but DON'T go here looking for a relaxing experience or great weekend meal. I really don't think you're going to get it.

If you're looking for a semi-fancy place to take company this is the place for you. Good food, but a little pricey. We had two egg sandwiches and coffee and our bill was almost $30. Coffee is good, but self-serve and a little awkward due to space. My boyfriend wasn't a fan of the coffee, he said it tasted like it had been sitting there all day, but I thought the flavoredOur waitress took our order and brought our food, but never checked on us in between, and someone else cleared our table and brought the check.

What a fabulous brunch spot Indy! My friend Carla is a native to Indy and almost pouted when she thought that we may have missed the brunch menu here... that's how good it is, folks. The blackberry prosecco ($6.95) libation that I inhaled was a delicious and refreshing way to compliment my Lentil Pate sammich ($9.75). YUM. I added some avocado to the mix and this vegan was very very satisfied! My meal came with a tasty side salad too. All around, the prices were fair especially for the caliber of food that was presented on my plate. Overall, I had hoped that there were a few more vegan friendly options on the menu but our server was able to make some suggestions on how to alter the menu to appease my diet. The bright and airy feel to the space was welcoming along with the petite but charming patio area. Service was speedy and friendly too. I also love their branding: "A Student Union For Adults"

Breakfast: Five stars I've been in Indiana twice for business recently and have been able to eat three times at Cafe Patachou (they have a location in the airport outside of security as well). For real. They make some damn good breakfast. If you want healthy, they have healthy. I had a great big bowl of oatmeal the other day with nuts and bananas on it. If you want something a bit fattier, their egg + salmon sandwich is outstanding. The staff here is on it. Some of the best service I've had in a casual restaurant - which is saying something because usually it was quite early.

Chicken Salad Heaven. The service is okay, but the true reason I am a fan is because of the food! I order take out from them 9 times out of 10, because eating-in there is not my favorite; but the food is always amazing! The chicken salad may be the best chicken salad I have ever had, the fruit is always fresh, and their bread is amazing!

Came for lunch. Super busy so I sat at the bar. Service was very good. Order the goddess salad. Very good, fresh ingredients, unique. Then I got the omelet of the day with cinnamon toast. Solid performer. Got there at 9:45 on Sunday morning. Full but no wait. Hippie omelet was good. Kids liked the smoothie. Fresh fruit was apples, strawberries, pineapple, oranges. No melon- one of the few foods I don't like, score one for me. Pricey, but worth it IMO.

Business lunch for 5 today. Possibly my first business lunch here *ever*, although I've probably had at least 15 or so business meetings over breakfast here since they've been open. Two of the guests were from out of town and really liked the overall look and feel of the restaurant. Not really a "business lunch" sort of place, yet a great place to have one as a change of pace. Everything is very fresh and high quality, they clearly point out on the menu the items that are locally sourced. The two out of town guests want to visit Smoking Goose the next time they are in town after hearing it described to them and then eating some of their tasty morsels. Server was a total pro, wish she could be my server every place that I dine. Service was super fast, which is always appreciated for a business lunch. Deadlines to meet, meetings to go to. Rush, rush rush. Busy, busy, busy. This was a very welcome break in the middle of the day and the relaxed atmosphere and great food made for a good meeting.

We stopped in this place in the Indy airport on our flight back home to Florida. The food was really tasty -- my husband and I shared a cheeseburger and the cobb salad and they were both really yummy. For dessert, we got an order of cinnamon toast which should NOT be missed.

It's official... I'm in love with this place! Their food is excellent and the endless get-it-yourself coffee is delicious. Did I mention you can also help yourself to a to-go cup? You can! Absolutely love this place ! Great food. I love the soups and the chicken salad on a croissant! The coffee is also good and self-serve. The service is speedy. It can be a bit packed but I think it's worth it.

Great chicken salad. The recycled water carafes are very green but poorly washed. The glasses made me uncomfortable to use due to the film coating the first and second one brought to my table. Could easily give the place 5 stars if the dirty glassware did make me worry about the cleanliness of the kitchen. Seeing other tables get water in plastic cups tells me I was not the only one concerned.

I'm not a morning person. Places like this help. I love the concept here. A very small chain that does a few things very well, keeping it simple, seasonal and fresh. The menu has about 3 or 4 core choices that can be personalized to accommodate your tastes. I had a wonderful omelet with avocado, tomato, bacon and cheese with a generous side of fresh fruit (pears, grapes, pineapple, etc) and fresh, lightly toasted, chewy sourdough bread. Coffee was great. Omelet was cooked to perfection. Preserves were great, much better than the little packet stuff. Staff was really friendly and helpful. The waitress even comped me a to go coffee (maybe it's included? I'm not sure). I'd love to come back and sample the rest of the menu. I'd welcome a Patachou in my neighborhood.

Patachou has the best cinnamon toast. My husband loves the coffee. It is well worth the money. The service can be sketchy. The wait.. is INSANE. No matter which one of these you go to. That is my major complaint. The food is really good..

  • Jeff P.

3 1/2 stars. There definitely is a buzz about this joint, but the wait goes quick. I have been to plenty of these farm-to-table, fresh, gourmet places around the country. Cafe Patachou definitely blows your average brunch spot out of the water, but I was a little disappointed in the flavor. The coffee and meal was just a bit lacking in the wow factor. The food was clean and fresh, but not over the edge. But I would definitely come back.

  • Adam L.

The food here is way tasty. Great concept. Great food. You should try it if you haven't. Not sure it's worth the price, especially the coffee. The coffee is expensive enough that they have a write up in the menu about how they press their coffee using some magical technique. Sounds impressive. The coffee isn't. It's good, but when there is so much hype tied to it, it'll fail.

Amaaaaaazing. If you go, the breakfast foods are the way to do it! I favorite is the broken yolk sandwich with bacon. It is absolutely too delicious. Last time I got the Omelette You Cant Refuse: bacon, potatoes, cheese, sour cream. So good. If your meal comes with a choice of bread on the side, get the cinnamon toast, delicious. For lunch, I've only had nibbles of my husbands food (I always get the breakfast since it is served all day), but the chicken salad was good, as was a salad he got. Coffee is good, hot chocolate is great.

At other Patachous, I have always had absolutely delicious food and really lackluster service. Yesterday for brunch was an exception -- the server was attentive and friendly; the only hiccup was massive confusion between our bill and the table's next to us. They really do have excellent food -- I have never had anything bad. I am not a big fan of the "serve yourself coffee" concept, and particularly at this space, there is massive congestion at the coffee station -- which also happens to be the main thruway for the servers to deliver food, for people to make their way to their table and to the restrooms.

My daughter has a friend who "refuses to go out for breakfast". In some respects, I can appreciate his point. Why a) get up early, b) pay for basic food, c) eat all your calories first thing in the morning!? LOL But, since moving to Chicago, I've found that so many people do "brunch". Thus, has become my habit on Saturdays. So, when in Indy, I had to keep my routine...saw the reviews for Cafe Patachou and decided to give them a try. Am still not sold on the idea of "breakfast", or even brunch on some days, but this place was quite nice. Bright and airy. There was a wait, but it wasn't terribly long. Their coffee is really, really good! Which, they offer to you while you are waiting. The meal: Opted for the croissant french toast. It was not particularly "pretty", but it was really, really good. The only thing missing was a slice of bacon - am a country girl... need protein with my sweet breakfast/brunch meals! LOL But, Patachou does not offer bacon, sausage, chicken sausage, turkey bacon...nothing?! Their "side" is a cup of fruit...which was good and probably saved me another 1k calories! Esp since I know the croissant french toast was swimming in butter! My dearest had an omelette which was very, very good. Extremely flavorful and just...fresh. Does that make sense? At any rate, if you are one who likes breakfast and or brunch, Patachou is a very, very good option.

I heart Cafe Patachou. I just went today for my birthday lunch with my hubby and our youngest son. What a great place to go for a laid-back, yummy treat! We both got the chicken salad plate ... which of course, if you know me, is NO SURPRISE. Mmm mmm mmm. Comes with a side of fresh fruit and usually a muffin. Today they were out of muffins. Completely out. Which isn't surprising since we were there close to closing time, and their muffins are great, so everyone wants them. But hey, I'm actually glad they were out. I got the world-famous cinnamon toast instead. What?! It's not world-famous? Well, it should be! DID YOU KNOW: You can sit outside!

All these restaurants are great. Crazy busy but very good food. Love the bagel with salmon and cream cheese as well as the Hippy with a Benz omelette.
