Worst lunch in a long time. Took ONE HOUR to get our food. Not cool when you're on your hour lunch break from work. Then when we finally got our food, there was no dressing on the salad in the bento box. I asked if she could bring it, but it never came. Then when we were ready to leave about 10 minutes later after scarfing everything down (minus the dressing-less salad) we had to go get our own check. BUT ... she couldn't find it. I can't believe they even made us pay after all of that. Will never return, even though it's in a very handy location for me on a rainy day like today.

I ate here for lunch and had a great lunch special--salad, soup and tempura shrimp sushi roll for $11.95. Delicious and a very filling meal. The restaurant is small and it was fairly busy, but the atmosphere was pleasant, friendly, quiet and personal--hard to come by for a downtown restaurant during the Friday lunch hour. The food tasted very fresh, and I'm looking forward to going back to try more items on the menu.

The lunch bento box is a great value. The veggies were very fresh and delicious. The pot stickers were ok, but I like them steamed vs fried. I should come back and try the sushi. It looked pretty good.

3 stars ... right there at average. Dragon roll is decent, Alaska roll is decent. Prices are a bit high, service is friendly but can be a bit slow (were you expecting fast sushi preparation?!?). An okay choice if you just won $20 on a lotto scratch-off ticket and are looking for a spendy sushi lunch to celebrate your good fortune.

The sushi was really average. Certainly none of it was bad but I'm definitely used to better quality fish and more flavorful Unagi/Dragon rolls. The sushi was well made and the the roll was tightly packed, but the sauce that's always on an eel roll just wasn't great, needed some stronger flavor. Similarly, despite having the yellowtail and salmon sushi pieces, they just didn't seem to have the flavor of other sushi I've had lately. I will add that I'm allergic to shellfish and every single role had krab and the menu states multiple times no substitutions so I had to rule out some other rolls where it seemed like krab made up a larger percentage of the filling. The service was superb. The on employee was acting as hostess, waitress, and chef all in one and she just seemed so grateful to have me order dinner even though I went in there 20 minutes before closing. She threw in a salad for free and was extremely nice and happy throughout. Great service

G-R-O-S-S Want to spend some money to get sick? I've gone to places that are cheaper, and I've gone to top-notch places that are 100$ per person, in both asia and in the states. I've had places that sent me to food heaven and some that made me sick. But I didn't see this one coming. At first I was hoping to have found a good new restaurant because I've noticed alot of the decor were korean, and I'm myself korean. It's such a bummer when you have to bust out someone from the same country but buyers beware. If you're looking for sushi this is the worst place you could go. We didn't get to try their other menu, but maybe that's good because honestly i don't know how they keep their food but I'm pretty sure it's unsanitary. It's not a high end restaurant so I didn't expect alot from it. I was just going to this place because the Buda sushi place was closed and this place was near by. First of all, we walked in, and the servers saw us, but didn't say hi nor sat us down. We stood there awkwardly for a while, then someone finally sat us down, with a crinkled menu and no water. Then we were told our waiter's going to be here soon. 10-15 minutes later he made his first appearance. We told him we'd like to have some water, then he disappeared for the longest time to come back with just water (by the way there was only ONE other table at the time so I have absolutely no clue what was going on). I finally got my order in, and he got us our food after a while. the plate was wooden and I could see clear scratches from previous use. For wooden plates ifyou don't wash them real good it's never going to be that clean. Looks like this place doesn't really care about cleanliness enough to at least pretend to look clean. I took my first bite, and it was ok. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't good. I tried to cleanse my palette with a piece of ginger - a smell of old rotten sock attacked my nostrils. Wow imagine that, a sock-smelling ginger? What do you have to do to ginger to make it smell like sock? If you call that a talent that's some real talent there. I doubted myself for a second because honestly I have never in my entire life even heard of ginger smelling this way. I was way too grossed out but I didn't want to make a scene. The fish was a-ok but I didn't expect alot from such a store which can't even keep the ginger clean. The portion was tiny, and the fish tiny tiny. Supposedly there were 3 types of fish but two were about a size of a pea and the third one like a piece of paper, so thin that i didn't know it was there till i pulled the maki apart to confirm. This was for a 15$ dish which had about 6 pieces but I thought to myself - "thank god- I would probably be food poisoned if the quantity was any larger. When the waiter came to ask how the food was, I tried to say something, except he didn't wait for my answer. He just said "how's it going?" then turned right away and left us. He didn't even look at our faces, or else he would've stopped because we weren't hiding our grossed out faces. Then later he came up to us and said "how was everything? do you want your check?" - yes without listening to our answers, all in one go. So when we tried to answer the question about how was everything, he just cut us off. We told him we had something to say and stopped him from just turning away, and he finally had the chance to listen to us. We told him that the ginger smelled like old socks, and i've told him to smell it himself. He himself crinkled his nose and made a face and told me that he's going to tell the manager. I said "ok, but I want the check too because this is unacceptable. Please do tell them" and he left us, talked to some people, and came back. all by himself, no manager to say a single word of apology. All he brought was check. He said "i told the manager. They're checking the rest of the ginger stash. Have a good rest of the day" then he turned away back into his little kitchen corner without even bothering to ask if that's ok with me. I couldn't stand sitting there by then. I'm not expecting a discount, or something else, I was just hoping that the manager would at least show his/her face ( I still don't know who the manager is) and say a single word "sorry." I can't believe the service and the quality of food here. I'm the type of person who pays delivery guy tips for bringing us our goods, just to acknowledge their effort, even if they're late. We didn't leave any tip. I guess there's a first time for everything. I left the restaurant, feeling slightly sick, with the smell still in my mouth, and have wasted money, and we had to go get some icecream to this time actually wash my palettes out.

If you want to pay $17.00 for a teeny tiny salmon avocado roll and a yellowtail roll (they forgot the avocado in that one), this is your place. Pricing is strange if you want to get a custom roll (which is what I did -- although in my defense it was a very simple addition) and the sushi isn't that great. If you wanna get one of the half price rolls during happy hour, go for it. But don't try asking for anything not on the menu... even if it doesn't seem like it'll be that complicated or expensive. They'll dick you over. And if it wasn't already so tired, I would have argued, but it wasn't worth it. I'll feel better knowing that the place is empty. If I want good sushi, I'll either go to Tomo on the north side or go to Sushi Boss.

Mediocre at best. Some of the items definitely seemed like they were from a food service. Portion size on the bento box was great, but the veggie tempura was quite greasy.
(2)Greg M.
This place had a really nice, fairly authentic atmosphere. I went with my roommate on a Tuesday night, so it wasn't particularly packed (I think including the two of us, there were 5 people in the restaurant). I ordered the Shrimp tempura and a rainbow roll. The quality of the food here was really good. I haven't tried many sushi places in Indy, but the food here was pretty close to the quality I experienced in San Diego, CA. The tempura was not too oily and greasy, although it was somewhat. The shrimps were quite large, so that was nice. The sushi itself was somewhat expensive, 11 dollars for a rainbow roll. The quality and taste of the roll was good. I would go back perhaps for special occasions, but not on a regular basis based on the price.

I ate here one time only so my review is based on that time. I wasn't impressed; however, the service was excellent. I had a vegetarian thing and maybe that's why. It seems restaurants don't have creativity in that department. My dining partners enjoyed their entrees very much and we shared a yummy dessert. I'd try it again just for snix to see if I liked it more. I felt it was a reasonable value for what we got.

I'm a relative newcomer to the world of sushi. My first experience with it was a couple of years ago, when my wife introduced me to it. Honestly, I didn't think I'd like it, but it's become something I really, REALLY enjoy. I like the atmosphere of Bistro Chopstix.....in the hustle and bustle of downtown, it's a nice, relaxing, calm isle in an ocean of madness. The service was friendly, and our waitress...who I THINK was also the owner...was friendly and smiling the entire time....no small task, since it was later in the evening and I"m sure she'd been on her feet all day. As good as the service and atmosphere was, the food just didn't wow me. The dragon roll was good, as was the volcano roll, but nothing was over the top. I'd certainly stop by if downtown, but wouldn't make a special trip from home to dine here.

Bistro Chopstix is a quiet little place in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. We ended up here because the original place we went for sushi was 21+ only, and my sister had her young son with her. She had been here before and said she really liked it. The best part about Bistro Chopstix is the service. They treat you like you're part of the family. The sushi is above average, but not the best I've had in Indy. The prices are moderate. They have all the classic rolls available in addition to some specialty rolls. All in all, I would return to have sushi here if I were in the area, but I wouldn't make a special trip.

Whoever said it was average sushi... Was gravely mistaken! The sushi was fantastic, happy hour meant half price sushi! So happy we found this during GENCON! Go here now! She makes everything herself so be prepared for a wait but its worth it.

Visited again today - result maybe better than the last - The sushi was well received - my fav was hot and delicious - ho dup bop. Its not gourmet. Its is good food - our group of 8 will be back. Good egg rolls. Good roll specials.
