High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.

had their honey lavender capuccino, great flavor, nice art on the coffee. i usually do not get flavored coffee drinks as they are too sweet to my taste but this was perfect. atmosphere is really nice as well. definitely coming back.
(5)Shelby J.
I had the 6 oz Honey Lavender. It was nice with richly flavored coffee and a thick foam. A touch of sweetness, I had a hard time detecting any lavender, but thats okay. It was tasty and a perfect pick me up. This is a small, locally owned coffee shop. I love businesses like that :)

After many lingering to-go trips at Bjava, I pulled up a table this week for a morning visit. I was more productive at work in the hour I spent there than I have been in awhile. More than likely it's the elixir of smiles, coffee and quiet time. They have music going but it's not overwhelming and the clanging you normally experience at a coffee shop doesn't happen here either. After that work day, I woke up the next day laughing in my sleep (really) and after telling the story of the dream that made me laugh the reply was, "you have to record this somewhere." But where, in some journal that's going to collect dust? No. Yelp. Obviously, I wouldn't include it here if I didn't find it relevant to both you (the reader) seeking betterment in life and the coffee shop itself. Here we go: (I give some credit to the coffee & the coffee shop for this dream.) There were two 50 feet vanilla biscotti (you know, the long upside down canoe shaped ones, and yes 50 feet) biscuits on a sidewalk at an intersection. They both had the word "absolutely" printed on them. Ethan, Coffee Prodigy, and B.J., Coffee Queen Bee, and I sat on one of the biscotti "benches," while we watched Andy, roaster, Master of Coffee Ceremonies at Bjava, assemble a swinging sign that read "absolutely" that zipped back and forth on the stop light wire above the traffic. We found his work to be hilarious. Thus, I woke up chuckling. Thus, I cannot guarantee sweet & funny dreams after this coffee... but you get the point. And thus, Bjava, you're *absolutely* terrific and dreamy. You didn't need a hysterical dream to prove it, your coffee is a dream.

Ask for a cup of their dry processed Mexican and taste the raspberries.

No contest - B Java is my favorite coffee place in town. Whether I am there to pick up one of the ever rotating varieties of delicous beans that are roasted right there, to grab a coffee, espresso, or yerba matte while I am out and about , or enjoy one of their delicious fresh-baked treats - I always leave happy. The baristas are friendly and knowledgable and everything they serve is excellent. I am so glad to have a non-Starbucks option on this side of town and over the moon to have a local roaster that is always offering new varieties and flavors.
(5)Jennifer P.
Not sure why I haven't reviewed Bjava before. My husband and I have been coming here for about 2 years now and we absolutely love it. We are in at least a couple times a week and we only buy our coffee beans from Bjava. They have the best coffee in town and their staff is by far the friendliest and most knowledgeable around! They roast all their own beans and are great at helping you decide what kind of coffee would best suit your tastes. Bjava is a great neighborhood coffee shop that you can stop in and grab a cup of coffee to go, or sit and stay for a while. Not only is their coffee great, but the food is great too! They bake all of their muffins and other tasty treats fresh daily and their sandwiches are all made with quality ingredients. Their lunch meat often comes from the wonderful Smoking Goose! If you haven't been to Bjava yet, you should definitely stop by. You won't be disappointed!
(5)Chris W.
I was caught licking my cup from their Bumble Buzz so I said I would leave a review as penance. Their espresso is that good. Manners take a backseat to a cup this good. I always get a cappuccino and drink it while I wait for a large pour over. Best coffee and espresso in Indiana.
(5)Jimmy W.
The coffee served at Bjava is simply the best. Outside of that, there's not a ton to say! I went in to the shop, which is not too far from where I work (conveniently!) for a cup of coffee, and was pleasantly greeted by a great atmosphere and some kind help in deciding which coffee I wanted. Boy was it a treat! The coffee was brewed with a cone drip filter. I had never seen one of those before, but it piqued my interest and I'm considering buying one to keep on my desk at work. I do wish that there was a bit more ambiance in the shop, maybe some more couches or some more "coffee shop" -esque decor, but the lack thereof didn't hinder my experience in any way.
(5)Chris S.
I have been coming here for years and it only gets better! Fresh roasted on site beans!! Support local ! Love this place!
(5)Daniel L.
Now this is a local coffee shop! I was struck not only by the level of customer service, but the friendly atmosphere. After sitting down to send a few quick emails (and drop some major eaves), I noticed that the barista knew EVERYONE'S name upon entering. Stellar. Suggestions: I got the English Breakfast loose leaf tea, with a touch of vanilla. Very happy with the quality, especially given the nearby chain shop is still pushing Tazo. The ambiance is my only minor quibble (a touch threadbare), but if you care about the quality of your coffee/tea, and want to support a local shop, this is your spot.
(5)Carol S.
Great coffee and good breakfast sandwich & muffin, the only thing slightly lacking is ambiance... Miles better than any chain!
(4)Thom E.
By far the best coffee around. They roast their beans in house. The staff are all extremely knowledgable. They are creative and make syrups from scratch. They even have nut milks as an alternative.
(5)Kris B.
BJava has the best coffee, espresso, etc. I am a BIG Fan of their honey lavender syrup. They always remember my order 5 shots of espresso with honey lavender and coffee. My favorite way to start my day, especially after pulling an all nighter studying. They have the best baked goods, love the fresh made pumpkin bread
(5)TOMMY o.
HOT Muffins, Great Coffee, to Die For Soups, beyond Helpful & Friendly Staff!! Free Wi-Fi locally owned & a art show this Friday
(5)Karl H.
Bjava roasts their own beans and the staff all seem to care a lot about quality. Easily the most quality oriented coffee shop in all of Indy.
(4)Tom R.
So, this is the certainly the best local coffee house in Indianapolis. I drove up from downtown on the canal to come try this place after reading the Yelp reviews. The baristas are very knowledgable about the origin of their beans, their methods of brewing, the additions of spices, milks, and other flavors. They roast their own beans here. I originally searched for blueberry muffin and landed here. Even though they were all out of blueberry muffins, I got to try their chocolate espresso muffin and the Dr. Tim-san. The Dr. Tim-san is three shots of espresso mixed with chocolate and half and half, but is more of a cappuccino than a mocha. Of course, the muffin went well with this drink. If I lived in the Eagle Creek area, I would come here all the time. The music selection is good. The ambience is nice. They have free wifi like everyone else. It is in a strip mall near a Starbucks.
(5)Ed S.
I love this place homie and comfortable, good music, and the beans are to die for. I drive up from Greenwood at least once a week to get beans roasted right there in the building. I always have something to eat too, this time of year (February) usually soup and a delicious baked good. In the warmer months Bj has some great sandwiches too. All this is worth the trip, but this is by far the best place to get culinary quality espresso based drinks in all of Indianapolis maybe the whole state. Give this locally owned business a chance you wont be sorry!
(5)Rich B.
Best coffee in Indy, try the "hand made coffee" best cup you'll ever have. Friendly staff too. I buy their beans too so I can buzz it up at home.
(5)Brenda B.
come to the City Market on Wednesday and see Ed, he has the Best coffee in INDY! the only way it could be better is if he was there on Saturday too! I buy a pound of coffee beans every week! Fair trade coffee at it's finest! If you don't love coffee then try his tea's they are Great too! Hope to see you at the city market!!
(5)Austen E.
Be sure to drop in to Bjava if you're a novice or coffee-snob - you'll not find a better cup than at Bjava. A nationally known Barista and Barista trainer has opened her own space on 56th and Layfayette - serving the finest espresso, espresso-based coffee drinks and yummy teas, all designed with quality and pizazz! Bj the owner serves breakfast and lunch and you can ask for the 'special lunch menu' - unpublished but available because she likes to mix it up for the public. Bjava uses coffee from a local roaster, fresh each week. With a variety of music and comfy chairs, you'll sink in with your laptop and enjoy the best cup of coffee in Indy! Put a buzz in your day at Bjava.
(5)Lorand M.
Echo most of the other reveiws...terrific coffee and very nice folks working there.THEE place to get your custom roasted coffees at surprisingly low prices for the incredibly gourmet quality of the products.Localy owned and operated...involved in the community...exactly what Indy should be supporting...but..regretably is behind the curve.GO GET YOUR COFFEE @ b-JAVA INDY !
(5)Jay R.
Best place for coffee on the west side of the city. Do not hesitate to stop here if you are anywhere near it! Although I can't speak for Indianapolis as a whole, I have to assume that this is the best cup in the state due to their attention to detail and fresh roasting practices.
(5)avi d.
friendly neighborhood type coffee place. Maybe its because i'm jaded and my neighborhood coffee place I'm lucky im not scowled at for the privilege of being a customer but freindly goes a little way. It also doesn't hurt that the coffee is pretty excellent
(4)Robin P.
I stopped by to pick up some of their in-store roasted beans. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The beans smell amazing. Too bad it's a gift for someone else. I'll have to come back to pick up more for myself. Their hommade muffins looked delicious too. I agree with the review that said this is a place where everyone knows your name. That was evident just by being in there for a few minutes. And any place gets bonus points by not having having a big, green logo above their doorway. Go and support a local shop.
(4)Martine L.
Bjava has nothing but great coffee, great food and great people. I am always welcomed there with a smile, warm soup and a great cup of coffee. Best coffee in Indy....by far.
(5)Thao N.
Visiting IN and I was in search of a cute coffee art cafe. I searched all over Indianapolis and happened to stumble upon this gem. Walking into the cafe, I was greeted by two baristas. They were extremely helpful in my cafe selections and very friendly which is a plus. Doesn't matter how pretty the coffee art is..if your barista is rude and unfriendly.. Definitely a thumbs down. But The girls here were super sweet and knowledgeable. The decor was homie and cafe itself was quaint. Seemed like a study area. The barista made me a lavender latte which is different from my normal latte selections hut surprising it was delicious. The coffee itself was really good. Strong yet pungent. This place is definitely a must try if you're looking for a friendly and homie atmosphere cafe.
(5)Leslie G.
Based on other great reviews, I stopped in for a coffee while in town for a business trip. The atmosphere is casual and the barista could not have been friendlier or more helpful. She also have me suggestions about what to see/eat/do while I'm here. She recommended the magpie latte and it was perfect. The beans are barrel aged, giving the coffee an intense and layered flavor that I've never had in a coffee before. Delicious! Friendly! I'll definitely be back every morning while I'm here.
(5)Thomas W.
Phenomenal coffee! They roast it themselves, and you can tell they really care about their craft. This place is for serious coffee lovers who are tired of the corporate behemoth Starbucks (there's actually a Starbucks store in the same parking lot if that's your thing). The coffee isn't cheap, so if cheap is your thing go to McDonalds; but if you really like small-batch coffee roasted by people who really care what it tastes like, try Bee Coffee.
(5)Patrick P.
Indianapolis has many great coffee spots, but you can add Bee to the list! Great coffee, hip atmosphere, and an incredibly fun staff make this my favorite spot on my way to work! Why go to Starbucks? Go here!
(4)James C.
The best thing about this location is Martine, she is so cool, really cool actually. You probably won't find a more interesting person to converse with (and she speaks French!). She's the highlight of the Lafayette Rd location! On to the coffee...I recently tried the Columbia, Popayan Teirradentro organic, it's full bodied but not over powering, the notes of chocolate are correct. Cool part of the coffee crawl too. The store has every type of coffee making gadget and cup that I can imagine making coffee, too cool of stuff!!!
(5)Faith B.
By far the best coffee in Indianapolis. The staff is extremely friendly and the owners are knowledgeable about coffee, tea and other goodies. Great place to hang out and get some work done.
(4)Becky Y.
You'd better have your caffeine addiction on bc this is some serious sh*t. If you consider yourself a recreational 'frappaccino' fan or if you actually like McD's 'premium roast coffee' or S-buck's Pike Place or whatever the heck they currently call their 'house blend' crap, you've been warned. An 'equal drink here will probably be too strong for you and make you sick, and I'm not joking. I'm stuck up proud about my vice, partial to certain boutiquey roasters & origins, dark roasted, preferably french pressed. I can easily take at least 2 good cups of my morning hit on an empty stomach, or 4 pulls of espresso in a reduced Americano. not here. Bjava hits me square btwn the eyes. everytime. must have padding. So thank goodness beans aside I'm also a great fan of their yummy breakfast sandwiches-- egg, cheese, muffin, w/ choice of meat or veggie patty-- for less than $3..... they also offer lunchtime paninis, wraps, and other sandwiches that vary by the day. btw, they only use REAL meat, and not pressed-processed-water injected stuff. lots of extra points for that in my book. I just wish they weren't so out of the way. I also wish they had better signage. It upsets me to see people in and out of the Starbucks across the way in the same plaza. At least 2-to-1 in number. I wish they all knew what they were missing out on.
(4)Nadine F.
I was pleased to find Bjava, and I'm glad it's just down the street from me. If not for the Yelp reviews, I never would have come across this place. The sign is tiny, and you can't really find it unless you're looking for it. I've passed by it tons of times without even noticing it. The coffee and espresso drinks are fantastic. They roast it themselves, and you can really taste the difference. They have free wifi, and service is fast. They have a few choices of baked goods, which they make themselves, though I'm usually happier when I just stick to the coffee and espresso.
(4)Vladimir K.
There is a Starbucks adjacent to this place which I think is pretty funny. I feel bad for all the corn-fed honkies who don't know any better, waiting in that dumb drive-through line for sugar-laden espresso that tastes like a wet ashtray when a coffee joint as good as B-Java is just a couple hundred feet away. B-Java is an unassuming little joint but made a pretty mean espresso. Service was good. My type of place.
(4)Kelsey R.
Best coffee EVER.
(5)andy h.
Bee Coffee Roasters always has a great selection of in-house roasted coffee. Here, coffees are described like a sommelier would share what flavors you would experience in the wine - without the snobbery. This information is shared to enhance your enjoyment and experience. Here, coffee is king. Prepared for each customer in pour-overs to bring out the optimum flavor and makes a huge difference for their single-origin roasts. The patience is worth it. Hands down, the best coffee in town. I would strongly recommend their barrel-aged coffees for something stimulating, flavorful and unique. You will also notice that there are an amazing number of regulars. Come in from time to time and you will feel like family.
(5)Wanda M.
I'm not in this area of Lafayette Road often but decided I needed a cup of coffee before an appointment. Drove into Star Bucks parking lot and could not find a parking space plus the drive thru line was wrapped around the building. As I was leaving the parking lot, I noticed a small Bjava coffee house sitting in the corner of the strip mall. So in I went and I'm happy I gave it a try. Good coffee with beautiful Latte foam artwork. It is a small, privately owned coffee and tea shop who's been here for 9 years. I had no idea since the sign doesn't face Lafayette Road. I was the only customer in the store so service wasn't an issue. I found the owner to be warm and friendly. After explaining I was a new customer she preceded to explain their coffee was roasted in house and the coffee sizes they offer. As I was waiting, I checked into Yelp and was surprised to see a 10% discount off of my order. Love that!! Then she brought a pan of freshly baked cinnamon rolls to the counter, still hot out of the oven. Cinnamon rolls are usually served on Friday or Saturday only. Further explained pans of rolls were forgotten in the freezer on Saturday so she pulled and baked as a Monday treat for customers. Stop in for coffee and support the private business owner.
(4)Mai K.
Best cappuccino I've had in Indy (I didn't check their downtown location tho, mind you.). My cappuccino was so fragrant and smooth. The only draw back is that it is a LATTE! Bum you Indy for not having any coffee shop that puts enough foam onto my cappuccino.... Now about the coffee details. There were two baristas making my and my friend's coffees (we had a cappuccino and a shagadellic). The older lady seemed to be more experienced so the shagadellic came out a bit nicer (with the swirly design and everything). My cappuccino came out not as pretty and the foam seems to dissipate very soon. Oh and we had a muffin (forgot the name) with Bailey cream cheese. It was selfish! Not too sweet, which is always a plus in my book. You should try it! If there is anything I think they should prove on ASAP, that will have to be decorations. Just saying.
(4)Haily E.
Service wasn't great but the tea and muffin were good. Decided to stop and try it because I'm new to the area and was very disappointed with my experience. I was not greeted when I walked in the door nor when I stepped to the counter. I mentioned that I had never been in before and wanted to check it out and was offered no explanation of what this shop is about. I looked at the jumbled chalkboard menu and commented on how big it was and was not offered any recommendation or explanation. I ordered a chai tea and a muffin. When my tea was ready I told her that I needed my muffin also. She said "oh I forgot to get it for you" she didn't seem to care about the service she was giving the entire time I was there. That being said, my tea and muffin were great but I will probably not return.

When you find yourself waiving to the Barista as you drive away with your Mocha... YOU KNOW YOU'RE IN INDIANA! Thank you, Yelpers for leading me to Bjava! I flew back to Indy for my Great-grandmother's funeral and haven't slept much since I landed... It's a nice blend of being alone in this vacation rental and losing the extra hour (making 4hrs) during the whole Spring Forward business! So I walk into Bjava this morning and I see the Barista chatting it up with a local regular at the counter. There is a couple standing there together looking at the menu waiting their turn... and the woman whispered to the guy (loudly) "Let's just go to Starbucks" and they left. The thought crossed my mind too at that moment, honestly. The actions of the couple led me to believe they had been waiting forever or something. Hmmm. But just as my mind began to sort my thoughts about wanting to try this local owned and roasted coffee shop vs just getting that assembly line mocha from Starbucks right down the sidewalk... I heard the Barista say "Ohhhh, you don't wanna ask me any questions about my coffee, you just want to go to Starbucks.... Be my guest" or something like that. It made me laugh. Then, like magic, it was my turn! They were so nice and chatted me up while I made my order. Didn't take long at all. Fancy foam design & all! I'll be returning for my morning Joe every morning while I'm in town & have already passed along the "You gotta try their coffee!" to a couple of my local friends. Their beans are also available for purchase at a local Hipster grocer! I highly recommend supporting Bjava! The roast IS GOOOOOOOD! You normally can't taste the difference of a roast in a Mocha. But - This you can! Mmmmm Get in, chat it up, and get on with your day! **I saved 10% with my Yelp Check in too! p.s. - They have Vegan stuff too!

Quality, above all else. It's applicable to most things in this world, coffee is definitely one of them. Bjava is Indy's bonafide java cafe, with some of the best bean in town. The art of the barista exists here in full force. The knowledge of all who work here is impressive - the complex explanations of flavor notes, body, and mouth-feel often zoom over my greenhorn ears, but I can say this much: they know their stuff and put it into their cup. Whether it's an americano, cappacino, chai-latte, or just plain cup of joe that you're after, Bjava will send you smiling. The service is often slow, but I look at it as a work of art that takes just a few more minutes to sculpt and get right. Plus, there are plenty of interesting local tid-bits all around the store to catch your attention while you wait, perhaps even watching the process of roasting beans... Quality is huge here, that much will become evident to you quite quickly.

Great coffee but only two breakfast sandwiches for selection... We yelped it thinking it would be a good lunch spot. It's really just a coffee shop.

Awesome little whole in the wall type coffee place. Of course there's a Starbucks right next to it so it took me a while to notice it but I'm glad I finally did. All the food and coffee is fresh as opposed all the processed and premade stuff at the Starbucks right next-door and just as affordable if not more.

I went to Bee Roasters for the first time based upon the wonderful reviews. The location was fairly easy to find. When I entered the establishment I was greeted by one of the baristas. I was excited to learn that they offer loose leaf tea. I am a tea fanatic, so I was stoked. They had at least 5 different flavors to choose from. I opted for a rooibos. While my tea was steeping, the pastries in a nearby container caught my eye. They had an assortment of muffins and an odd looking iced cookie. Nothing was labeled so I asked one of the baristas what muffin flavors are available. I chose the pineapple upside down. I was excited to learn that if you check-in at this location on Yelp, you recieve a discount, which is AWESOME. So everything cost less than $5. I took my goodies then I was out the door off to my next destination. I couldn't wait to try the muffin. There were pineapples at the bottom, which excited me even more. I took a hug bite, and I found the muffin to be just ok. I think in my mind I thought it would be a bit sweeter. No fault of the establishment, just a personal preference. I don't know if my expectations were too high or because I didn't have coffee, but my first visit was just okay. I am still going to give them another try.

I love this local coffee shop that roasts their own beans. Follow them on twitter to find out when their rare blends are going to be roasted and you might find yourself in possession of some amazing peaberry coffee! BJ and her crew are amazingly gifted in the art of coffee and keeping you buzzing along. They have pour-over methods and chemex along with the traditional drip coffees if you're in a rush.

I don't know what people had that I missed out on, but this place was nothing special. Both my drink and my girlfriends tasted the exact same even though we had two separate syrups. We asked for their speciality drinks - those drinks were not impressive. This was disappointing. We'd much rather prefer to go to Bee than the nearby Starbucks, but we did not have the experience we were expecting. Maybe we'll try again sometime with different drinks.

Best espresso + traditional cappuccino in Indy, hands down. Bjava is that soulful little coffee shop you remember from your favorite vacations, the off-the-beaten-path local spot that you wished you could visit every day. Except it's in Indianapolis and you CAN get it whenever you need it. Breakfast sandwiches are great (Smoking Goose ham!) and they always have a few other muffin/pastry items. Be sure to order that cappuccino 'traditional' and in a mug, then sit down and enjoy the experience. It's simply not the same in a paper to-go cup ... just leave your house a few minutes earlier so you can enjoy it inside Bjava instead of on the road.

Once again, the Yelpers didn't let me down. Starbucks gets a bit tired after a while, so I was looking for a more local flavor type of place. Bjava offered great coffee. When I'm at a place like this I want to get something I can't get anywhere else, and the the honey lavender cappuccino didn't let me down. One star gets knocked off for the ugly tables in the middle of the cafe and the storage area you have to walk through to get to the bathroom. Also docked for the rude sign in the bathroom. There's a line between quirky/fun and downright rude and the sign in the bathroom was condescending. (Something about not overflowing the toilet.) Will I return to Bjava? Without a doubt. Great quick service and delicious coffee.

This is the place for those coffee lovers who enjoy great coffee. The service is the best and their food selections are great. This is a true coffee shop in every sense of the word, this place puts Starbucks to shame. I cannot tell you how much I just love going here. Try it and you too will become a raving fan of real authentic coffee.

I love coffee so why have I never been to Bjava?! I stopped here after picking up some meds for my cat at the specialty apothecary that lives in the same strip mall. Lo and behold, I walked out with the best latte I've had since moving to Indy! The very kind and knowledgeable barista also helped me pick out some beans to take home and served up my drink with pretty latte art. Pleasant experience, excellent product. I understand they've opened a location downtown, which I'm pretty sure will be a future destination for caffeinating near home. (Pro-tip: check in on Yelp before you pay for a 10% discount.)

Rare are these type of joints in Indy yet this is what Indy should be all about- small, individualized, custom made specialty coffee and foods! I tried a pumpkin latte that was as smooth as silk. The latte was creamy and was made with REAL PUMPKIN! It was the right temperature mixed with the perfect balance of espresso! They knocked Starbucks out of the park. Also, I saw that they make individualized cups of coffee with pour over method on weekends!! I also brewed a cup of their sumatra coffee beans I bought , and let's just say I am sold. GREAT PLACE. What a treat! Wish they had a place in downtown!

After searching reviews for coffee shops around Indy, I decided to treat my boyfriend to a cup of artistically-crafted coffee. He chose the Colombian roast and decided to try out the Chemex method of brewing. He likes his coffee black, so when he told me that it was the the smoothest, boldest taste of coffee he had ever had, I was very surprised. It's easy to make a strong coffee that tastes very acidic and has a strong after taste, but I couldn't believe how smooth and powerful it was! I decided to try the same method but get mine iced. I was a little skeptical at first, because they continued to heat the water and pour it over ice. Now I've had iced coffee made a few ways, but before this, the only way I've really enjoyed it was cold-brewed. I added a shot of hazelnut syrup and almond milk (I couldn't believe they actually had almond milk as a choice!) to mine. I'm not exaggerating, it was the best iced coffee I have ever had. What was even more exciting to me was that the barista in there at the time had only done the Chemex method once, so she made sure to ask the head barista to show her how to do it right. If we were in a hurry, it probably would have taken a little longer than I would have liked, but I really appreciated them taking the time to do it right. It was WELL worth the wait! Final note: We like to use the AeroPress method of making coffee at home, and to our surprise, they had an AeroPress there! I was really blown away by their knowledge, skill, and variety and options. We will DEFINITELY be returning!!

Awesome little coffee shop! The staff is friendly and very helpful, and the coffee is absolutely delicious. If you're feeling hungry, there are breakfast sandwiches with ham from the Smoking Goose. Would come here again!

I was very excited to try this coffee shop, and I'm glad I did. It's small, but cozy. The menu is also "small," but I figure they can do a lot that's not up there. I ordered my staple, a cappuccino. It was very good, and the foam design always makes me smile. I also indulged in a pear muffin. Very good, as well! Seating is limited, but it's intimate, and I like that. Staff was friendly enough. Basically, I didn't give it five stars because I still want to try a lot of their options. They also have tea, of which I'm a huge fan. I will be back and hopefully changing this to five stars! :)

Ahhh... Bjava. I was way too late to find out about this wonderful place. I am even guilty of going to the Starbucks not half a block away. This place has, without a doubt, the best coffee in town. The staff is always welcoming and friendly, eager to offer tips about how best to enjoy their coffee at home if you buy a bag. I highly recommend a cup of hand poured coffee or a pumpkin spice latte if it is in season. They make all their syrup and it blows the larger corporate establishment's version out of the water. Go check out Bjava, you won't regret it.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said - this place is great! Tucked away on Capitol, next to Lids, across from the Convention Center. Nice variety of drinks, with most of the specialties starting around $3.25. I had the Honey Lavender Cappuccino and it was precisely the 2pm pick-me-up I needed. Not syrupy sweet, but absolutely delightful! Didn't pick up on the lavender, but that's cool, because I'm not a huge fan anyway. Friendly employees working the counter - and speedily, at that. Ordered and had my drink in a matter of minutes. Will definitely be back to try the lattes and chai.

Driven by this place 100's of times, disappointed I didn't stop in long ago. After taking my husband to the airport this morning, I found myself stuck on the opposite side of town from my regular java joint. With a much earlier morning than normal, I was forced to go to S-bucks (bleh) or pop into this coffee shop I have walked by dozens of times. I'm so glad I went local! As always. The staff was super nice and knowledgeable on coffee. They roast all their own beans (just like my regular morning stop), and the minute I walked up to the counter, the barista was pulling fresh blueberry and peach pecan muffins out of the oven. My 2 year old loved the blueberry muffin. The coffee was made fresh for me, straight into my cup. This process was something I have never seen before. Takes about 4 minutes, but well worth the wait. They also have the fast commuter coffee for those that are in a hurry. Everyone who came in was definitely a regular, and all very friendly. While this particular bean and roast was a little bit acidic for my taste I will definitely be back!
