Excellent Mexican Cuisine, very friendly staff! This is by far the very best Mexican dining in Huntington!

In the middle of nowhere, hungry, without a snickers bar. I searched for nearby grub as we coasted down the country highway. This place came up and we pulled in about five minutes afterwards. Dust and trucks surrounded this place but the owners made some decent curb appeal, making the place seem inviting. We ordered classic burritos and a side of rice, one order of beans. Babe had little to no meat. The flavor was almost nonexistent. The service was ok considering the boisterous children running amuck. We left, hunger subsiding. Stop here if it's necessary.

This restaurant feels far from authentic. They put lettuce in their tacos and the meat is not seasoned well. The salsa has no spice. It basically tastes like they put diced tomatoes in a blender. They do have very good beans and excellent customer service. They messed up on my order and fixed it right away.

Probably the best Mexican food in the area, although admittedly there's not a lot of Mexican food options in the area. It's also probably one of the best family restaurants in the area, and it's the go-to place for my family to go out to dinner, or for me to take my brother out when II'm home. The salsa is alright, definitely not chunky. The queso dip on the other hand... the queso dip is a thing of absolute beauty. I don't get the platters (not a rice and beans person), but the food is pretty cheap--usually less than $10 a person. My go to is the cheese enchilada, which has great sauce but it's not super spicy. They make it easy to alter your order, so if you want more veggies or no veggies or something weird (like my brother's preference for chicken fajitas with just bell peppers), they're totally down for it. Between the prices, the atmosphere and the desperate lack of quality Mexican food in the area, it doesn't get much better than this place.

I came here this past weekend with one of my sorority sisters because she said it was one of the better restaurants in her small town, and boy was she right! Everything here was great- from the food quality, to the prices, to the service. We started out with the free chips (which were actually warm! sooo good) and got the cheese dip/queso which was also amazing! For our lunch we both got the chicken fajitas which were believe it or not only $6!!! They even came with rice and beans, and the portions were HUGE. To be honest we probably could have shared one entree since there were tons of left overs. The service here was good too! The atmosphere was ehh, I mean they could do some renovation but aside from that everything was perfect!

I love Los Amigos! I always get the Fajita Quesadilla con Pollo (it's my total fave). The service is unbeatable-- you'll never have an empty drink or chip basket. It's pretty good food for a really good price. It's around 6 dollars for lunch and 7 for dinner plus drink. The food authentic Mexican but it's not very beautiful when served but the taste and price make up for it. The atmosphere is outdated and it's not a great first date night place due to that but it's great for a nice friendly lunch or dinner. The complimentary salsa is smooth with hints of garlic and cilantro. Overall, I eat there a lot especially when I'm craving Mexi on a budget. It's the best Mexi in town that's for sure.

The only competition so far in the Huntington area is Mecates. Los Amigos is far more delicious and authentic. If you are on the edge of liking Mexican food vs hating it, i would recommend Mecates. However, Los Amigos has great food and good prices. The staff are happy and friendly. I love the vegetarian fajitas, which are hard to find in a lot of Mexican places. They have specials throughout the week, but never anything vegetarian, which is quite alright because I have to feed my husband too! The decorations aren't great but its cozy. Sometimes they get pretty busy and you might have to wait for a short time before being seated but the service is always fast.

Watered down salsa, watered down queso, no decaffeinated coffee and ridiculously slow service. Don't waste your time.

Love the chile Colorado! Always fast and friendly there. Service is about what you'd expect (pretty good). Cheap and large portions. Very good food all around and I love their salsa! Give it a try if you haven't!

It's ok. The service is good, and carry out is always ready super fast. The food is just ok though. Personally I find it a bit bland. They don't add any noticeable spice to anything. And every thing sort of tastes the same.

Most authentic Mexican food served here than elsewhere I have found in town. Salsa is not as good as most places, but at least its not just watery tomato sauce. On request, they will bring you some really HOT seedy stuff (no telling what it is; just spicy, hot, and good to mix in with the "standard" salsa. Be careful, though, that stuff is HOT!) The restaurant is pretty bare-bone as far as decor goes, but the selection on the menu more than makes up for it. The selection is wide and varied and if you want Mexican or TexMex, what you want is on this menu, for sure. The service is good, not the kind that will be breaking your neck trying to keep up with the server, but you do get what you order, and even what you do order. Refills on drinks are on-request, it seems, but the food makes up for it. By now, you can guess that I like the food here, its good, well done, and more than plenty of it. WARNING: Do NOT order a double fajita unless you have brought 2 or 3 friends with you and you plan to share one. One fajita was more than enough for my wife and her son got his, as well. They both ended up with more than half left and in go-boxes for take out. (That after I helped her work on hers, too!) I had a combo plate and the tamales, burritos, and tacos on it were tasty and LARGE. I was starving when we arrived and I managed to eat all mine, but normally, maybe a half would have made more than a normal meal. It was so tasty, though, that I didn't think about all the calories, rather thought I don't pig out all THAT often. Overall, am glad I came here and in retrospect, will go here or Don Rafael's in the future, depending on the wife wants. More authentic Mexican = here, more TexMex = DR's. PS: We went on what I thought was early on a Saturday night, however, it seems that the restaurants in Huntington close early, so call ahead and make sure they are open.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
