The Paragon is about what you would expect from a small Midwestern town diner. There's plenty of room and parking. Service is achingly slow, no doubt a function of limited wait staff being assigned too many tables to keep track of. The food is edible and forgettable. Portions are generous. The prices are cheap. The selection is limited- I had to spend some time with the menu trying to find something a vegetarian could eat. Trucker sludge threatens to erode the cup it's presented to you in. There are no obvious health code violations or objectionable policies. Mediocrity is often the goal out here in the middle of nowhere. Middle of the road people seek the familiar rather than the excellent, and the unusual just doesn't sell here. The Paragon is quite naturally a gathering place for those who've spent their whole lives just trying to fit in. Higher expectations are deemed arrogance, the ultimate sin in places such as this.

I've gone here a couple times with my guy. The place is in need of some updates...including flooring, seating areas, and restrooms. But the food tasted okay. I especially enjoyed the lemon rice soup, which I ordered both times I visited. The broiled lemon pepper catfish I had was good though I wished they gave me a bigger portion. My guy likes their Monte Cristo sandwich. He makes a special request to get strawberry jelly to go with it. The servers were nice as well. I'm sure I'll be back.

Ate here a few nights ago. We stood there in an empty restaurant waiting to be seated for several minutes. Once seated the service was great. The menu was great and had just about anything a person could want. The place didn't seam to be the cleanest. I ordered the breaded mushrooms to start and the king size prime rib cooked medium with chicken noodle soup and fries with a side of garlic bread. The stuffed mushrooms were okay, nothing special. The soup was very tasty. The prime rib however came out just about as rare as it can get (it was not pink in the middle, but purple) and so I sent it back. When it came out, it was then overlooked as expected. It had a delicious flavor though. The garlic bread was as expected, almost too crispy. Ultimately, my dog ended up getting the remainder of the steak and fries. I've definitely had better food and is nothing special that I would recommend to anyone. More of a place you go to when you aren't in the mood for anything in particular or can't decide what to eat.

I've never had a problem with this restaurant. Even their delivery drivers are amazing!! Lemon rice soup is amazing!

I've heard the kitchen is filthy so I try and avoid this establishment. The gyros pizza is pretty dang good though. The lemon rice soup is VERY good

We order here from with all the time.they are so quick, with delivery. Everything we have had is good.I love the ham and bean soup

Paragon is mediocre, it's never really bad I had the gyros parmesam tonight and it delicious, the noodles not so much, they are pre cooked and wet but the gyro meat was good. The breakfast items are always a safe bet if you're unsure.

One of the worst meals I have had in my life. I am generally sympathetic when I travel and temper my expectations, but three of us had a dinner here that still makes me sick to think about. The folks working there seemed nice enough, but man...come on...prisoners get fed better than this. The waitress came by before we were finished and asked for us to pay the bill so she could leave with her tip. Denny's is gourmet in comparison...

Such a bad experience I cannot even expound!

Good gyro, decent saganaki, lemon soup needs some love. Great service and friendly staff.

Food has gotten so much better then before. Now that its no smoking anywhere in the restaurant is a god send. I highly recommend any sandwich on a pretzel roll yum.

Went there on a Saturday evening at 6pm. Diner was about a third full. Hostess seated the two of us at a dirty table with one setting among several empty, clean tables. We told our waitress we were sitting at a clean table next to the one we were assigned. Noticed the menus weren't very clear about what was included with entrees. Wife ordered open faced turkey sandwich, I ordered leg of lamb. Waitress brought us two turkey entrees. After pointing out her mistake she apologized and said my lamb would be out in 4 minutes. 15 minutes later I got my entrée. She again apologized and said I would be charged for the less expensive turkey. When she brought the bill I was charged for two turkey dinners and the lamb dinner. After pointing out the mistake I was told that the manager was in error and he would fix it. Apparently the manager decided to charge us the full price for the lamb dinner. The waitress did offer to pay the difference out of her tip money, but we refused. When paying the bill we were asked how the dining experience went. Apparently the cashier really wasn't interested in our experience... so why ask? Food was OK, but the front of the house staff stinks.

It's a shame when you have been eating at the se place often for several years and you don't feel like your business is appreciated . I have been ordering the same salad at the paragon for at least a year Md I would say I eat this salad at least once a week and for the last couple months I have noticed how inconsistent the salad has been. The price went up and the amount has decrease which I know is happening everywhere that's why I never complained but when the menu specifically says fresh spinach you expect to get spinach not a whole bowl of yellow lettuce . I ate the salad anyways cuz I was hungry and I hate to cold in but I mentioned to the waitress and she knew how often me and my friend dine there so sheen tinier it to the not sure manager or owner either way he argued with me how it wasn't supposed to have spinach til I showed him his own menu I got no apology he walked away quickly as he told the girl to comp out drinks which had happens to be water. There were other ingredients that had been swapped like the roasted peppers he used red bell peppers instead not the same flavor his argument for that was cuz they were more expensive. Then change the menu...

I like eating here. I have breakfast every Wednesday with Kiwanis here and often walk across the parking lot from my office for lunch. Very polite people here.

We've lived in Hobart 3 years and decided to try Paragon simply because we were too lazy to cook or go anywhere else. Bad decision although its exactly what we expected. Gross gross gross!!! Cheesy decor with a large menu full of everything from breakfast to Asian stir fry. Clearly nothing is fresh. I got a cheeseburger and the cheese came out burnt!! The only thing I liked was the water. Place is so dirty I needed a shower when I walked out. It was an experience to say the least. Bring your passport because its like stepping in a different country.

If you are looking for a classic Greek restaurant, here ya go. Big, big dining area, so there is never a wait despite the masses of older folks who tend to flock here. Disclaimer: I'm part Greek, so I can have my fun here. Greek restaurant checklist is as follows: 1. Pompously wealthy owner - check 2. Bratty son working the front - check 3. Pretty arm-candy at the register - check 4. "Fire" which caused a remodel of epic proportion - check 5. Circus of flyers, local magazines, gumball machines, cluttering lobby - check 6. Gigantic menu that is never non-sticky - check 7. Older servers who have been there 10 years and do not appear happy - check 8. Army of Mexican bussers and cooks - check 9. Coffee bar where old Greek guys go to congregate and scowl - check 10. Tables and booths filled with couples 60 and older who barely say one word to each other - check 11. Those damned paper placemats with 500 businesses advertising on them - check 12. The sickly sour odor of flaming saganaki cheese that never dissipates - check 13. Countless gallons of lemon rice soup - check 14. Senior menu must have liver and onions - check 15. Frequent dining visits from local politicians and government officials - check All joking aside, this place has a great breakfast served all day, and the lamb on the weekend will keep me (and a million other people) coming back.

i grew up in hobart and have been frequenting this place on and off since age 14. i'm probably biased as it's been in my life so long but the lemon rice soup, coupled with their DELICIOUS bread, is my favorite ANYWHERE. my girlfriend and i drive all the way from chicagos north side just to munch on saganaki and soup at least once every couple of months. everything is SUPER AFFORDABLE. in fact, i'm going to go there right now. paragon, i love you long time.

So if you want a nice family restaurant with a vast array of choices to choose from , this place is for you. I like the new restaurant, it's more spacious than the old one and the food is good!! I usually get my reuben sandwich, yum. They now added a gelato bar, which I haven't tried yet! Next time.. the staff is friendly and the decor is great.

This was my grandmother's favorite restaurant. That should tell you something. I'd go there for breakfast or lunch. Dinner can be disappointing. One bad thing, you have to go through the smoking section to get to the non-smoking area.
