I was so pleasantly surprised to find this little breakfast/ lunch spot right by where I did a two week nannying job. The waitstaff was more than pleasant and the food was fantastic! I went there three times in two weeks! During my visits I ordered an omelet twice and crepes once. I was very pleased with both! In addition they provided a lovely substitute for regular water by providing citrus and cucumber infused water. It was quite refreshing! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great and reasonably priced brunch spot!

I have to admit I wasn't sure what to expect when I decided to make Skillets my next new breakfast adventure. I was swayed to give it a try based on the photos other yelpers posted. I just knew I had to have a better experience than I did at Gabe's Place in Glenwood. And I did. I arrived a little after 11:10 AM on a Sunday. I was greeted right away by one of the hostesses. She promptly directed me to a booth near the bar area and mentioned that they had a buffet style breakfast I could choose from or to order from the menu. My server greeted me with a smile as I sat down and asked me what I'd like to drink. I don't drink coffee usually opting for grapefruit juice. She came back and mentioned they didn't have any so I decided to go on hot chocolate. As I waited for the hot chocolate, another server came by and asked if I wanted whip cream on it which I said yes. She shouted back to my server that I did as she was finishing pouring the cocoa. My server was apologetic for forgetting to ask. She walked over with my cocoa and asked if I was ready to order. I was all set to order the California skillet based on the photo I seen but I was also eyeing the french toast with eggs and choice of meat. I didn't know for sure which I wanted and my server stated both choices were good ones. So I went to my tried and true method of looking to my cellphone to decide. If the last digit on the time was even, I'd go with the skillet, if it was odd I would choose the french toast. Odd won out so it was the french toast. My server also asked me if I wanted regular or flavored water. I'm not sure if other places do that but I found their options of cucumber or citrus infused water to be something I've never encountered before. I always wanted to try cucumber water so went for that. My server came back with the french toast order and asked if I needed anything else. I reminded her about the cucumber water and she quickly brought it back. I liked the french toast. It wasn't too heavy of a meal and wound up being just enough food. I loved the cucumber water so much that after stopping here, I went to buy some cucumbers so I could make my own. Overall I would give my experience 4 1/2 stars. I pushed it to 5 though because of how friendly the entire staff was. It seemed like everyone worked as one cohesive unit and did everything they could to make my dining experience a wonderful one. Skillets is about an hour out of my way but I definitely see myself returning. Kudos to the entire staff!

Had a family brunch on a sat afternoon here. We were surprised by the large selection of both breakfast foods as well as diner lunch specials The short stack is huge, the chicken sausages were pretty tasty as well. The battered fries were super good. The prices are totally reasonable and the wait staff was excellent Overall a quality place to take little ones

Food was delicious. I had the regular boring hamburger but it was exceptional. The soup was very good too. The Irish skillet was also ordered by my bf. He enjoyed it. Our waitress was so friendly. They also had complimentary flavored water available. I didn't have any but it was inviting.

Warm, welcoming, family atmosphere! Since moving away from the Region many years ago, I haven't visited Skillets yet. What a pallet pleasing experience! I'm so glad I stopped in and tried out this place :) I was greeted and seated right away in their cheerful and tastefully decorated dining room. It was lunchtime, they were pretty full, but I was served right away by an attentive waitress who offered some delicious citrus infused water. They also have cucumber infused, too. What a delight on a warm summer day! I opted for something I've never heard of before - Crunchy French Toast - and what a decadent treat it was! Crunchy on the outside, warm and sweet on the inside. You really don't need the maple syrup, but I used a thin drizzle for some maple flavoring. The side order of bacon was cooked well and crispy - No rubbery fat at all! It was delicious! The owner, Carol stopped by our table a few times to makes sure everything was to our liking. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed my experience at Skillets! I will be back and will bring my family with me next time.

Most enjoyable breakfast done absolutely right no matter what you choose! The menu isn't complicated or extensive, the options are your usual diner/breakfast foods done their way. This is my second visit to this establishment and each time I was greeted almost immediately and seated without a long wait. The food came out prompt and hot, very tasty not overly cooked or bogged down in grease. Everything seemed fresh, although I asked if the the apple chicken maple sausage was scratch made, I found that it was not, but that didn't take away from the fact that it was very tasty. I'm curious to know how much of the food is scratch made vs purchased. The cozy environment is family friendly with booths and tables settled around the open room. Cucumber and citrus infused water greets you at the door in the event of a wait. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, very attentive without over doing it. I have yet to try any of the lunch offerings, but this is definitely a go to spot for breakfast or brunch! Enjoy!

Every time I come in town I come here for breakfast! I love the skillets and they come with pancakes! Their pancakes are so delicious! Trust me you will be full as a tic when you leave here. They also offer fresh flavored water.

Hmmm... So far it's just A-OK for me. Very similar to Sophia's and Round the Clock. We ordered an Omelette and an order of Biscuits and Gravy. Omelette came with hash browns and either toast or pancakes. As far as claiming 'Best pancakes' or 'fluffiest' I'm not sure I agree. Yes they were good, loved the little crispy edges, gave good texture. But taste for me was just above the 'normal' I guess. My biscuits and gravy was fine. Nothing super special. The base was a bit too floury, could've had more flavor. Needed just a tad more sausage in jt for my tastes. Biscuits were a bit on the sweet side for my fiancé but I thought they were good. Service was nominal, patient with our indecisiveness and fast to put in out order when we finally did. Out waitress was very friendly and checked up in us regularly without being too 'in your face' which was great. The place was very clean and has PLENTY of room for people to sit. Booth seating was comfortable. Didn't feel cramped, lots of room for plates and kid toys and crayons too. We're a family of three in a 4 top booth, probably would've been just fine if we were a 4some. We'll probably return at some point but, we've got out "regular" breakfast/brunch place that we frequent. This may be our switch up. Definitely worth a go if you live locally but (for me), not something to go out if the way for.

I'm just gonna let the photo I uploaded of the mousetrap I saw - visible to all customers, no less - speak for itself.

Good place near where I live! The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I got their California skillet with a side of pancakes. The skillets could really use some seasoning but its not bad, a little salt and pepper goes a long way. The pancakes were excellent, I'm surprise they even come as a side. They come with powdered sugar. They have unique flavored water, cucumber or citrus.

When my significant other and I moved back to the Region in June, we swore we weren't going to go out to eat for every meal anymore. "We'll cook at home," we said. "Things will be different this time," we said. So now that we've been to Skillets for breakfast/lunch 90 times in 6 months, I feel qualified to say that the food and atmosphere are just lovely and you can't go wrong getting some lunch here. I think I've had just about everything on the menu at this point. It's all been good. The owners and staff are great and take my order with 7 substitutions and add ons with a smile (what can I say, I like my salad a certain way). After 90 meals (wasn't exaggerating) There are definitely some favorite menu items. My previous favorite was the hot turkey sandwich on a pretzel roll with seasoned fries. If you go there, please order this. I have given up gluten and can't have it anymore. *moment of silence* My significant other is a skillet aficionado and loves the Guinness skillet. All the soups are tasty. Most importantly (to me) it's consistently good and THE SAME, I can't deal when I order something twice and it's all weird the second time I get it. All in all a good place to eat.

First time trying this place. Great food. The raisin bread was delicious! I had the California skillet, my dad ordered two eggs, bacon and hash browns. We both enjoyed our meals. The food was ready so fast!! The service was a little slow - that's the only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Service/ staff was okay. Great local breakfast place! Their lunch menu looked great too.

I was there last Saturday, May 24 at about 12:30 p.m. for breakfast. The place was packed but I was greeted with pleasant smiles and "hellos" by the scurrying staff. I was promptly seated and soon met by Sarah, my waitress, who quickly took my order and kept the hot coffee coming -- always with smiles, politeness and a warm, enchanting gaze that, if I weren't old enough to be her grandfather I might be tempted to say was intended solely for my exclusive benefit. I ordered two eggs over easy, hash browns and corned beef hash. I am a simple man and Skillets served me a simply delicious meal -- in what must have been record time. The place used to be called Michael's and I still call it that from time to time. (Skillets just doesn't quite have the same ring to it.) But what does ring out loudly and clearly with the new management is prompt courteous service, big smiles and large portions of excellently prepared food at VERY reasonable prices. If you are ever in need of a wholesome, inexpensive breakfast, lunch or dinner -- and if you need a happy face to accompany that meal, look no further than Skillets of Highland. They are obviously looking to stay in business for the long haul!

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant after seeing that the reviews were mostly positive. We went on a Sunday around noon. They had what looked to be a breakfast buffet setup but nothing listed in the menu to tell us what the prices might have been for it or if it was still available. We just ordered off the menu ( seemed easier). My husband got the biscuits and gravy and was greatly disappointed. Very bland. The biscuit part was good but the gravy had no flavor and no sausage could be found in it. I asked for water with my meal. Apparently they have flavored water but we were never offered the fruit flavored waters like the table next to us were. We did get our food fast and the French Toast was good. Disappointed but not a total loss.

What a clean place with EXCELLENT omelettes and great service. I like healthy omelettes and often get them made with egg beaters or egg whites. The usually come swimming in grease. This was the lightest, fluffiest, most delicious omelette ever! Very pleased and will be back ASAP!

Perfect breakfast and lunch spot. Serve the classics with some new twists and some more health conscience choices like the vegan wrap, and a California skillet. Haven't been disappointed with anything here.

My friend had the French toast and I had the pancakes. The french toast was under cooked. The pancakes weren't anything special. Kind of flat. I expected light fluffy pancakes but was very disappointed. Service was very good but the food was mediocre.

Love Skillet's!!! Try the homestyle French toast. You won't be sorry. Breakfast buffet on Sundays, you name it it's on there. Complimentary infused water, the sever will bring or you can help yourself.
