Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Pretty tasty, and quick service too. I'd go back!

Best Mexican restaurant in the region! The food was excellent and well presented. It had the quality of a high end restaurant and the service did too. The server was by far the best server I've ever had.
(5)Andy D.
This place is really good. Service is great. Staff is very friendly. The food is the best part about this establishment. Restaurants Serving breakfast lunch and dinner are very hard to come by these days, but they do a great job with it. Crispy chicken tacos=hangover cure. Guacamole is very good. I like to add some hot salsa to it to spice it up. Only downside. Atmosphere is brutal. Very dated facility, where no alcohol is served.

My friends and I came here on the way back to Chicago from Indiana. Waiting area - not too many seats, but you can stand outside on a nice day. It might get congested if you wait inside. Customer Service - excellent! We had a group of 8 people and they went out of their way to make sure that we were all seated together. Attentive and the chef even gave us a free steak appetizer (which was delicious!) Food - anything deep fried tastes delicious!! Deep fried beef taco - tasty and the ingredients inside the taco blended in well too! Shrimp soft taco - tasty if you want a "healthier" option Portions - the tacos are not huge so I guess if you are a big eater, you might want 5 tacos? Not sure...either way the tacos I tried were delicious! Costs - very affordable, you can spend less than $10 and be full. Tacos average around ~$3-$5 depending on what kind of taco you get. I would come here again if I was in the area.. wish they had a taco place like this in Chicago!

Best Mexican place in the region. Truly enjoyed everything about my meal, but wish the guacamole had a little more kick to it (just seemed to be missing something slightly ). Nonetheless, I'm still giving it five stars because the service was as wonderful as the outstandingly fresh and delicious food. I recommend this place to everyone. Very unexpected find!

Memo's was written up as one of the top ten restaurants out of the way so we decided to try it out. We walk in on a Wednesday night and it was packed. Good sign you say? Not really. It means there are quite of few people who do not know good food. Our server treated us like we were bothering him. Guacamole was bland. Burritos and tacos were equally forgetful. Better places out there for Mexican.
(2)Doug A.
We heard great reviews about Memos and looking forward to going there. We were disappointed. The Memos burrito the chicken and the guacamole were all bland.

I'll be frank. If you're looking for Mexican food in Northwest Indiana, and you don't come here, you fail at life. I'm in here once a week. I remember once eating at a joint on vacation in the Yucatan, and uttering the words "Ehh...I've had better fish tacos at Memos." Things you need to have when you come here: Carne en su Jugo, Mahi Mahi tacos, Avocado tacos, Chorizo and Potato Enchiladas, Steak and Chorizo Torta, hell, you really can't go wrong with ANYTHING on the menu. The guacamole is the best I've ever had. The staff is fantastic. Great people. The only drawback of the place is that it gets BUSY. Real Busy. Sometimes it can be hard to get a seat, and you feel bad for the servers running around like mad to keep up. It's busy for a reason. This place is great.
(5)Dan G.
Tried this restaurant for the first time after a friend suggested it. I had steak tacos and they were seasoned to perfection. My son had steak enchiladas and he was very happy. My other son had the chicken burrito. He suggested we order without the jalapeño next time. The rice, beans and guac were all great as well. My wife typically doesn't care for refried beans. But she enjoyed these. Memos will become part of our Mexican night routine.
(5)Elizabeth K.
I used to be a regular here, and was a customer of the sister restaurant in south deering...I can recommend the food but cannot recommend the service. Often you wait at least an hour just to get some tacos and I've ordered take out and it did not help. The dining experience is hurt by the uncomfortable seats and sardine arrangement. The quality of service is rude and frustrating which competes with the otherwise delicious food.

I've heard how many great places there are to eat in da region, so I hopped in my car and headed out to try Memo's. I've heard that their deep fried tacos dorados are awesome, but I couldn't resist the siren song of the Friday-only mahi-mahi tacos. But I'm getting ahead of myself. First up was an appetizer which has been described as Mexican bruschetta. The molletes are slices of bread - perhaps a baguette or a roll of some kind which are topped with refried beans, onion, guacamole. The squeeze bottle salsa verde added some fire to the delicious combination. These make for a pretty filling appetizer - perfect for two or three. The generous portion of mahi-mahi in the tacos was thickly cut and juicy. The accompanying salsa on the side was both delicious and spicy. For $3.25 each (as of 07/13), these are a good value. I have no doubt they could sell them for twice that price in Wicker Park. Overall, Memo's left me quite impressed. Definitely check it out if you are in NWI.
(4)Jennifer F.
My 10 year old loved the quesadillas. My husband and I had the steak tacos with beans and rice. It was very good. The tacos had alot of meat and it was not fatty. This place is very busy!!! Many people were coming in and picking up orders. Really great Mexican food.
(5)Rick E.
Dive.... But thats ok at times.... Authentic Mexican food. I got a acarry out on a Friday night. Not the best soft shell tacos I have ever had but still good. Fast service. Server was very busy and stressed. She never smiled. Bathroom was a mess. The building is old and needs updating.
(3)Raj D.
Guisado de Porco. I ordered it. Very flavorful. Reminded me of Indian Rogan Josh style lamb curry. Not entirely but in hints. The meat was tender. Seasoning was spot on. Came back next day and had it for lunch. Truly wonderful.
(5)daniel m.
Update. Good food. But I just cannot get past the horribly slow service. Every time I go I end up spending $40 or so. No big deal but if they could pick up the pace I may go more than once a month. Last time I went ordered a burrito. That's it. Maybe three people in whole place and I'm not kidding it took 25-30 min. I had to ask, why so long. I believe these cooks cannot multitask and only cool one order at a time.
(3)Mike C.
First time. Really enjoyed the food. Two salsas served with chips, red and tomatillo. Both very good. Had a chorizo / potato taco and chorizo / potato enchilada- both very good. My wife had the campechaga taco and steak taco. She preferred the steak taco as their chorizo has cinnamon. I tasted the campechaga and thought it was awesome. Also had guacamole. It was good, not spicy. I personally prefer spicy. Waitress, Naomi was very courteous. We will definitely go back to try more!
(5)Arthur R.
There is no doubt in my mind, the food is absolutely delicious, the chunky salsa is THEE BEST AROUND, I buy a quart twice a month. But...... the "service" is as predictable as the food. If you have three or more people dining in you can expect one or two people to get food first then 5 minutes later the other person then the final person five minutes later. I don't know if the cooks know how to manage their tickets or what. I would love to explain this to Memo but hey, not my restaurant.
(3)Johnny H.
While I can't offer a detailed review on Memo's Menu as I've been unable to avoid getting the same item in my two visits there -after today's Memo's Burrito I'm just too impressed to resist raving about this fantastic place! I have had Memo's recommended to me by about a dozen people over the past two years but never got around to going. Folks steering you to this place know what they're talking about, believe me. This is a casual, hole-in-the-wall region gem with some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. Every ingredient in all of the food I have tried is just remarkably fresh. From the roasted onions and red peppers, fresh avocado, and perfectly cooked steak on my giant Memo's Burrito Grande to the ingredients in some of their salsas - the quality is just undeniable. I have gotten take out from Memo's once and dined in today. Our servers were kind and prompt. I have heard about long wait times for some of their food when it is busy, but we didn't wait long at all and I would be happy to wait 3 times as long for a burrito that good. Looking forward to trying some of the other items on the menu including their much-raved about breakfast (which, as I understand, is only served on Saturdays and Sundays). Don't miss out on Memo's.
(5)Monique N.
Came here last night with my friend and we ordered takeout. She raved about the crispy chicken tacos so I tried them and they were pretty good, although I believe the steak to be my fave. It was packed so we waited about 30 minutes for our order but the food and service were definetly worth the wait.
(4)Leslie L.
This place is terrible don't come here.... So I can still be able to get a seat!!! I'm kidding, weekends are packed at peak lunch hours so expect a wait! The food here is great! It's clean and the food tastes fresh. My favorite things are the salsa, the amazing fresh delicious guacamole and the steak tacos. I've tried the chicken and beef tacos but the steak are the most flavorful. Their beans and rice are good comfort foods. The Mahi Mahi fish tacos are awesome as well! I love their tamales but the menu has changed. You cannot just buy one or two, you must buy a whole dozen, phone ahead because they take 2 hrs to make! Sooo worth it though! PS. You can BYOB!!
(5)Dan L.
Guacamole is superb. Salsa is wonderful and fresh. Service is a little slow but the joint is busy, and its worth a couple minute wait. Standard stuff is way above average and more specialty dishes are authentic and well done.
(5)Robynn M.
The food there is phenomenal! All of ingredients are fresh and flavorful... Absolutely, without question, my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area...I've never had anything I did not like!!! You will undoubtably be impressed!!!
(5)James C.
First time and the last time I visit this restaurant. The first thing is the service is terrible. It took them almost a half hour to seat only me. Even though the place was packed but the management of turning over tables was like amateurs taking orders no organization. I finally got sat down and ordered from this frazzled but enthusiastic waitress. She handed me the chips and salsa. The chips taste like they were pre made boring white corn chips but the salsa was awesome as the mild was mild and when they say hot salsa they ment hot salsa good stuff and my expectation of my order of the hot pork taco dinner was heighten after eating the salsa. I was sitting there for about twenty minutes until I became concern to myself of where is my dinner. Then another twenty minutes passed with the waitress coming to my table and apologizing and saying the food is coming soon. But in all I waited hour and fifteen minutes to get only two hot pork tacos with rice and beans. I can not blame the waitress for that because that is the kitchens fault. It should take about 8 -10 minutes to put that dish out for how busy it was. I mostly think the kitchen is unorganised. Which this could mean the prep was not done or the leadership of the kitchen is terrible. Mostly in all, someone is running the kitchen that should not and new management is needed. So after all the wait I was excited to try the hot pork tacos with rice and beans. I dig in the rice and beans, I always do that with a Mexican restaurant because that tells me how the rest of the food is going to be. The rice was bland and didn't taste like white rice that was traditionally cooked. Not impressed. Then I tasted the beans and they had no flavor and just as bland but not as bad as the rice. I thought I was eating hospital food. Ok now trying the hot pork tacos. I tell you the pork meat has great flavors of smokiness / grilling with the heat that can point to hot. But the bad thing is that the meat was over cooked and dried out. I did eat one and packed the other one togo. Over all this place has potential but they need to get organised in front of the house of how to flip over tables and back of the house and this means tasting the food making sure the food has flavor, having enough prep ready for production, so just basically having new management to run and organise the line. I was not impressed at all this place was such a let down. I gave them 2 Stars because the salsa was awesome and pork meat had a great flavor but so sad it was over cooked.
(2)Catherine B.
This is just not impressive food. I am a taco fiend. Having lived from west coast to now Midwest, I'm surprised by the inauthenticity of simple things like the chips. Bland. Stale. Like they had been sitting for hours. I love hot and spicy food and the sauces I received were so hot (salsa verde), I couldn't feel my throat. My chile rellenos was fine--my brothers was so hot he asked me if we could pack up our meals and leave. He can tolerate any spice or heat. Again--some disclosure would have been nice. The staff is not very friendly. On top of that, the food takes a long time to come out when there are only 6 seated tables in the entire restaurant and half are already eating. I've had authentic Tex Mex. This is not it. How does this place have 4.5 stars?? Do people not care about what they're eating?
(3)Rick Z.
Have been here twice and both times I wasn't impressed. They have good salsa but that's about the only good thing I have to say about Memo's. The first time I had the steak torta and the second time steak and chorizo combo tacos. Both times the meat was tough and chewy. The taste of the chorizo seemed to be off as well. This place seems to lack quality and their service is terrible. I almost walked out because it took so long to get my order. While I was waiting I saw another person walk out complaining of the same thing. I won't be back. Hard to believe this place has so many good reviews.
(1)Kevin L.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Small family owned restaurant. Love the Memos burrito.
(5)Brian K.
Any place that's always crowded is doing something right. I love this place great food and great service even though they are busy busy busy. Family Friendly with good pricing and large portions.
(4)Pamela H.
Very unimpressed with service. Still sitting here waiting on check while writing review. Salsa tasted barely more flavorful then just crushed tomato and a bit more like spaghetti sauce in flavor. Will not return. Don't hate it. Just better ways to spend my money
(2)Colin S.
Hands down some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. There is a reason why there prices have skyrocketed and still a 2 hour wait for take out. The food always seems to be fresh and recently made. The fish tacos sell out every time they have them so go early if you want some. I have not ever had a bad meal from here. IF YOU WANT MEXICAN GO HERE!!!! They have small dining room to dine in but is mostly a take out restaurant. Don't change Memo's.
(5)Aaron R.
Best Mexican food in northwest Indiana. Order the hot pork tacos in flour. Top notch.
(5)Liz S.
The only possibly bad thing I could say about this place is that it puts me in a major food coma. Inevitably about an hour after I finish eating I will be dead asleep - it has happened every time I have been here! All in all, fantastic food and great workers!
(5)Julie M.
Steak tacos are the best in the region. I'd like to rate something else but the only thing I ever get is the steak tacos cause they're so freaking good.
(4)Joey T.
Every other Mexican restaurant I had been to in NW Indiana was a total letdown, so I was overjoyed to discover Memo's! I eat here at least once every two weeks because it is THAT GOOD. My favorite thing on the menu is the chicken sopas because the chicken is so tender and flavorful, the corn masa sopas are PERFECT, and it's piled high with all sorts of yummy goodness like avocado slices and sour cream. Other favorites include their salsa verde (it's always gone before I'm even finished with my chips), the horchata is DELICIOS, and the guacamole is so dang good it makes you want to cry. The one thing they don't serve is alcohol, which is sad. But I've seen people bringing in their own Corona. This seems odd to me, but I'm not from Indiana so what do I know?
(5)Brett P.
I had been hearing great things about this place for a while, so we finally decided to get it for lunch at the office. I must say, I was not disappointed at all. From the outside, Memo's is easily missed. They only have a small sign and a couple tables outdoors. The dining room is also rather small, but provides something of an exclusive feeling. Also, be ready to wait. I went to pick up our order on a Thursday afternoon and every seat was taken. The food was very good! Most people in the office got burritos or taco lunches which all looked delicious. I chose the Memo burrito which I would highly recommend. It had deliciously grilled steak with chihuahua cheese and slices of avocado. It was also a pretty big burrito, but not a gut bomb. As busy as they were, our order was ready right on time and the service was friendly. We ordered chips and salsa for the whole office which we discovered was missing when I got back. We called Memo's and they rush delivered our order with a free bowl of guac to boot. The guac was really fresh, and I liked it a lot. The chips were also very good. They weren't overly thick or greasy like some restaurants chips, but still had a nice crunch. The salsa was also good and fresh. My only regret was that I could not have eaten this meal in the restaurant. I was surprised to see how elegantly the dishes were plated in a restaurant that was not expensive at all. Most Mexican places quickly heap their food on the plates, but that is not the case at Memo's from what I saw. I will definitely go back and recommend it to my friends!
(4)Jason S.
Always good. Me and the wife have been going here for years. Best tacos I've ever had. Memo and Martha are the salt of the Earth.
(4)Marlena R.
This place is fantastic. The food is spot on. There is something for everyone and when you ask for spicy they bring it. The only complaint I have is the place is too popular for their small dinning room. The family run business needs to add some more servers for better faster service but all in all this place is awesome.
(5)Gina F.
Best Tex Mex ever....really! Carne asada is my fav; I can't bear to try anything else. Our whole family loves this place. Call ahead as waits can be long. We take out most but have eaten there, too. You won't be disappointed. Yum!
(5)Justin W.
Some establishments simply meet your expectations ... this is not one of them. At first glance one would think it was a run of the mill "Mexican restaurant". They would be sorely mistaken. Avoiding the tragic topic of the mahi mahi tacos I have yet to indulge in, which are only served on Fridays and slowly becoming a topic of lore. I'll start with the generously spicy "hot" salsa which has a softened taste due to what seems to be a hint of cabbage. Next is the super satisfying "mild" salsa which has a slight sweetness that keeps me wanting more. Maintaining my green friendly mindset I ordered the chile relleno burrito, who doesn't like the convenience of a burrito?! Turned out to be the perfect vessel for the highlight of the meal. Three separately stupendous sauces each blended with different and unique flair. If I had one gripe and it's more of an opportunity to improve it would the speed which based on the quality I'm ok with. Other than that this place is money in the bank and I will be going fishing for the mahi mahi tacos very soon.
(5)Lakan D.
Mexican grills are a common thing to find. Many of them are great, and Memo's Taco Mex is no exception. The food is quick, and is delicious fresh. I got the two tacos special lunch, served with beans and rice and for the most part, the beans were better than in some other Mexican restaurants. Food is fairly priced too. The tacos were tender and authentic, I got the steak tacos. I've had food from this place many times before, usually they were orders for parties and stuff, catering. But I actually took the opportunity to actually come to the place, sit-in and eat.
(5)Joseph P.
I'm a sucker for tacos. Pork, steak, shrimp, chicken, you name it. Memos makes some righteous tacos and their salsas are incredible. My best recommendation is the steak taco on soft corn tortillas and the crispy chicken tacos which are fried in the tortilla which causes a magical reaction between the chicken and spices. I think they are a little pricier than most places but I truly believe the quality makes up for it.
(5)Jennifer G.
Finally got to visit the restaurant after loving their food from afar. Everything was very good. My lady friend had a steak burrito which she could not stop raving about and I had 2 taco dinner - steak and spicy pork. The steak was good but the spicy pork was excellent! They bring 3 salsas with the food which are all great. My only complaint is that they do nickel and dime you a bit (charge for extra salsa, charge for extra chips, charge for a side of jalapenos) but who am I to complain, I really dont know much about food costs, overhead and all that so it may be totally necessary.
(4)Lm P.
Great, great tacos! dinnerdrinksandamovie.co…
(5)Will W.
Pretty tasty, and quick service too. I'd go back!
(4)Leslie M.
This is one of our favorite places to get Mexican food! It is Tex Mex, but it could be Chicago Mex or Indiana Mex, it is DELICIOUS! The molletes (sp) are our favorite. They call it Mexican Bruschetta, but whatever it is it's just something I dream about. It's toasted bread with beans, guacamole, fresh red and yellow peppers and queso fresco. The meals are great and reasonably priced. We haven't found better in the South suburbs or Northwest Indiana. A++++ for Memo's. P.S. The decor isn't exciting. But we don't eat decor.
(5)Justin S.
Memos has great food but is a terribly run business. Lack of staff is the biggest problem. Dine in is usually run with two people who cant keep up with taking order for dine in and carry out, serving food and cashing out. They screw up my order 60-70% or more of the time on carry out. Almost every time they have made a mistake somehow they pass blame on someone else. The last two times they blamed me and my wife. The employee even read back the order to my wife and then when the order wasnt right she blamed my wife. Not only did she read the order back but the order receipt even showed correctly what we ordered. If they had some true business experience the place would be great. If they had mediocre food I would never come back. Their great food is the only reason I deal with their shitty service. Oh and the food is never done when they say it will be done. If they say 20 minutes you wait 45. If they say 45 its done in 15 and its cold when you get there.
(2)Christina V.
This place is great - good food and really reasonable prices. I had the chile relleno burrito and the hubs had the Memo's burrito. The food came out quickly and service was attentive for the most part. My only complaint is that I needed a drink refill and I don't think they noticed. No biggie except that burrito was spicy and my mouth was on FIRE. I hear their guacamole is fantastic, too.
(4)El S.
A bit overrated!!! The crispy tacos are great!!!! The rest of the food was nothing to brag about. The service was about average. I really wish they had larger tables. If it's just two people they sit you at a table that is about 18"x18". There's barely enough room for your appitizer, salt and pepper shakers, and the napkin dispenser, and your drinks!! By the time your food comes you have to do a juggling act to be able to have everything on the table!!!
(2)Hollie S.
Don't bother getting Mexican food anywhere else in the area if this place is open. I'd heard about it for a while, but never knew where it was -- it's easy to miss. It's BYOB, and there's a liquor store conveniently located in the next stripmall over. You get salsa and pico de gallo, and there is no excuse not to order the guacamole, so you probably should do that. The molletes are indeed awesome, and, just so you know, they reheat the next day in the oven (scrape off the cold stuff before heating; put it back on before eating) and thus make a pretty darn good breakfast, so you may want to save them so you have room for your main course. I really like the Memo's Quesedilla, and don't overlook the tamales, as they are crazy good. The staff is extra friendly and fun. Bathrooms are clean. The food is great. All they need is more space, mood lighting, longer hours, and a liquor license. ...But you can't have everything.
(5)Jim E.
Do not go there on the week-end, I waited 25 minutes for 2 tacos! It definitly wasn't worth the wait. My major beef was that they should prepare the food for the resturant patrons BEFORE the orders for take out. Chips & salsa were very good though.
(3)Alyssa L.
Absolutely the best! Modest, small quick-service dining that lets the food speak for itself. I eat here at least once a week, and the tiny dining area is always packed! The staff is polite and helpful, and the ingredients are delivered fresh daily. I am a very, very harsh critic of my food with unbelievably high standards. I can honestly say I have LOVED everything I have ever eaten here. I live and work nearby so I have had the opportunity to try most of the menu items. I highly recommend their steak, pork and mahi mahi tacos, tortas, tamales, fajitas, and weekend pork specials. I believe that this is, quite easily, the best Mexican food around!
(5)J L.
I went to Memo's for the first time with friends who are very, very particular about their Mexican food since in their families they can get the real deal at home any time they want. Having enjoyed my share of Mexican food, I was completely in love from the first visit (and there have been countless more). During Lent the ceviche is worth waiting in the considerable lines that form to enjoy--daily specials like the Memo's quesadilla or the Mahi tacos are enough to convert skeptics. They have a staff that hustles, ample portions and food that never disappoints. Don't miss this treasure!
(5)Brianne A.
Love everything I've had here. The hot pork is just a delicious combination of flavor and heat, I just can't get enough! My husband and I have determined Memo's to be better than any of the Mexican restaurants we used to frequent in Chicago. Prices are affordable, it's BYOB - allowing my hubby to bring his favorite beer with, and everything is DELISH!
(5)Kathy R.
I really like this place. The focus is definitely on the food. The atmosphere is very blah and when you eat inside, you quickly realize that they probably do most of their business in take-out orders. They get swamped! The place is packed every night. It doesn't matter whether it's the weekend or not. I love the tacos the most. They rock. Now, I know I said that the atmosphere isn't all that great, but the place is always clean and the staff is super-friendly. I'm definitely becoming a regular...
(4)David P.
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Their food is fantastic. I haven't had anything yet that wasn't consistently good. I am not a huge fan of their Salsa though. It tastes like they used too much Chili Powder. But this hasn't stopped me from getting carry-out there at least twice a month. I usually call in ahead of time and it's only about a half hour wait. The place is always packed anytime I've gone inside. Take note that they are closed on Sundays.
(4)Michael C.
Of all the Mexican places I like to go, this one is my favorite. Great variety of things that are all really good.
(5)Robbie S.
Best Mexican joint in town. Family service. Chips and salsa (mild and hot) are free while you browse the large menu. They have fresh food delivered daily, so if you see the mahi mahi tacos on special, order them! We love the variety of 6 or so kinds of tamales the best. They do run out of tales though. I still need to try the chef recomendation ( I think a pork stew) that you can easily miss on the back of the menu. Thalk with the wait staff for suggestions on menu items and questions. They are glad to help you out and friendly. Carry out food is convenient, but the chips and salsa are extra if you want them. The salsa is great, accept sometimes frozen.
(5)Lisa R.
Fantastic place! Great prices and even better food! NO ONE makes pork tacos like this place! And everything else is fabulous too!!
(5)regionramble R.
Picked up food the other night. It was a Friday, so they were pretty busy. Wait was about a half hour for two dinners. This place definitely skews a little more "tex" than "mex". Got a burrito, tacos, guacamole, etc. and it was all good, but nothing stood out as spectacular. They put jalapenos and sour cream on their burritos, which I definitely think should be an option and not standard. Also, the chicken was a little tough. The staff was courteous and everything is definitely fresh. For the price, which is a bit high on everything, you're not getting anything too special.
(3)Gregory P.
Smallish little mexican restaraunt in highland. The steak and chorizo burrito is very flavorful, and the staff is really nice. Go on off peak times and you will be able to get in without problems...otherwise you are fighting a crowd. Prices are reasonable, portions are good too.
(3)L L.
always tasty. a little different.

I love this place. The food is always good- consistently. I love the memos burrito. The salsa, and the chili rellenos are also fab. At busy times you have to wait for a seat, I don't mind because it is that good. The seafood tacos are my favorite. What ever he has is so fresh, never frozen. Memos is the best.

The best pork tacos around!!!
(5)Larry C.
Best in northwest Indiana! The 2 taco lunch special is excellent and the Carne en su jugo is the BEST!! We go at least once every two weeks and if you don't get there by 11:30 for lunch - you aren't going to get a table. Family owned and run - great food and a great family!
(5)James D.
The best crispy Tacos you will ever had, plus the hot pork tacos are awesome, everything is great, service could be better
(5)Sarah B.
best mexican in the area.
(5)Heather S.
Absolutely the best Mexican food I've ever had. The guacamole and salsa are always fresh and delicious. I haven't had anything here that hasn't been outstanding. The only down side is how busy they are, but it is worth the wait every time. The service is great, and the place is always clean. Best Mexican in the area.
(5)Gail C.
Best Mexican restaurant in the area. They take great care in making wonderful, fresh food. The nicest, most welcoming restaurant owners I have ever experienced. I have been to this place almost weekly since they opened and I have always had great food there.
(5)David C.
I have been going to this restaurant weekly for a few years. It is a family business, with obvious care for the customers. They have the best Mexican food in the Region! No liquor license, but the focus is clearly on serving high quality food. Outstanding guacamole! The dining room is small but always very clean. Nice people serving great food. Always a pleasant, satisfying experience. Reasonable prices too!
(5)Rick Z.
(5)Pamela H.
Very unimpressed with service. Still sitting here waiting on check while writing review. Salsa tasted barely more flavorful then just crushed tomato and a bit more like spaghetti sauce in flavor. Will not return. Don't hate it. Just better ways to spend my money
(2)Patrick M.
(4)Elizabeth K.

(4)John T.
(5)Tom J.
(1)Joseph P.
(5)Mike O.
(5)Brian K.
Any place that's always crowded is doing something right. I love this place great food and great service even though they are busy busy busy. Family Friendly with good pricing and large portions.
(4)Justin S.
(4)Lakan D.
(4)Colin S.
Top notch.
(5)Joey T.
(5)Jennifer G.
Finally got to visit the restaurant after loving their food from afar. Everything was very good. My lady friend had a steak burrito which she could not stop raving about and I had 2 taco dinner - steak and spicy pork. The steak was good but the spicy pork was excellent! They bring 3 salsas with the food which are all great. My only complaint is that they do nickel and dime you a bit (charge for extra salsa, charge for extra chips, charge for a side of jalapenos) but who am I to complain, I really dont know much about food costs, overhead and all that so it may be totally necessary.
(2)Kathy R.
(4)Brett P.
(4)Will W.
Pretty tasty, and quick service too. I'd go back!

Update.

(5)Brian K.
Any place that's always crowded is doing something right. I love this place great food and great service even though they are busy busy busy. Family Friendly with good pricing and large portions.
(4)Rick Z.
(5)Pamela H.
Very unimpressed with service. Still sitting here waiting on check while writing review. Salsa tasted barely more flavorful then just crushed tomato and a bit more like spaghetti sauce in flavor. Will not return. Don't hate it. Just better ways to spend my money
Top notch.
(2)El S.

(5)Hollie S.
(5)Leslie M.

(5)Michael M.
The best pork tacos around!!!

Best in northwest Indiana! The 2 taco lunch special is excellent and the Carne en su jugo is the BEST!! We go at least once every two weeks and if you don't get there by 11:30 for lunch - you aren't going to get a table. Family owned and run - great food and a great family!

I have been going to this restaurant weekly for a few years. It is a family business, with obvious care for the customers. They have the best Mexican food in the Region!
