Everyone else's review pretty much sums it up. Great food, good pricing, and excellent atmosphere. The only negative is that they do not accept credit cards.

This slightly out of the way restaurant is well worth driving to. I view it as a treat to go to the Log Inn. Be sure to take cash though... credit cards are not accepted.

I have been dining here for years and the food is always great. I just love the catfish filet and the family style is wonderful. Last night I went there and enjoyed the meal as usual but the service from the waitress was awful to say the least. Oh she was pleasant but i felt that i was imposing on her. An example is I asked for some more bread sticks and she looked in the basket and said "you still have some left when you finish those I'll bring some more". I had to get my own mug for the beer and when asked for a take home bag i had to get my own. I will still rate this 4 stars but if the food was not so good I would not come back. Oh by the way the tip was $15.00.

This couldn't have been better! My table ordered the fried catfish, roast beef and fried chicken with family style sides and rolls. Everyone was more than pleased with their choice and our server, Patti was so nice and very attentive. We will definitely go back.

Love this place. Every time I have an international friend visiting I bring them here for a real taste of Southern Indiana home style cooking. I'd recommend coming with at least 3 people so that you can eat family style with unlimited sides. With this deal they let each person pick a meat and they give you a huge portion (then sides are shared). It's definitely worth the money, it's not that expensive, especially for all of the awesome food you get. Beware of hours, I remember trying to go once when closed. Also, I don't believe they take credit cards. Abe Lincoln ate here.

Far from home style cooking unless your kitchen is filled with frozen food. Golden Corral is better than this and their food is not good either. Chicken made my entire family sick, veggies are frozen, mashed potatoes are instant, and the coleslaw... disgusting. You can have the same meal from Walmart for a fraction of the cost and probably taste better. To top it off they only take cash or check, lobby atm for $3 fee. Never again.

Home style cooking the Hoosier way! Some of the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life. And I love fried chicken. This is a very popular place and very busy. They also do not take reservations for small parties. I recommend ditching the kiddies and sitting in the "bar". Much quicker seating that way. Most everything is served family style, so you should have plenty to eat. Just do yourself a favor and get plenty of chicken. The chicken is worth the wait. I have never been overly impressed with anything else on the menu, and I don't really care. Have I mentioned I love fried chicken?

Wednesday night 8/26/15 first time here. Heard it was great. Pretty much was with only a couple exception. Bread was only acceptable but not like o'Charlie's which it easily could have been. Chicken was great, fish was very good, beef was awful. Sliced dry beef. It gets terrible reviews on here all the time you would think they would change it. It should be pot roast with carrots potatoes etc but Nasty tasting sliced beef. My friend got it and let me taste it if I had gotten it I would have sent it back. Desserts were great though.

Hands-down some of the best fried chicken ever! It's a very comfortable, casual restaurant in a quiet residential neighborhood, and has a log cabin style feel to the dining rooms. Also terrific service, very friendly and welcoming. I consider this a roadhouse gem.

Oh My Goodness so good.... Took my family here from out of town. The fried chicken is amazing. And the pies....wow! Great staff as well.

Solid american style food that tastes home cooked. We had the catfish and the chicken breasts with potato and gravy, the potato salad, and corn as our sides. The portion sizes were huge! Two large catfish fillets and 3 medium sized chicken breasts. The corn was very sweet but pleasant, the chicken fairly well cooked though possibly a little over-done. The potato salad was weird - inedibly so! Very very sweet with a strange flavour, could barely taste the potato in it! However, the potato and gravy was absolutely delicious - smooth and silky with real meat gravy - yum! Service was good as well, very smiley and friendly waitress, although my drink glass was so so packed with ice that I only got a mouthful or two from each "glassful" - a minor issue in the grand scheme of things! Very homestyle setting in a log cabin seemed appropriate for the food genre also. Would recommend a visit if you are passing through.

The food was fantastic. My wife and I each ordered the "Fried Chicken" and it was very tasty. The side dishes were amazing (wish we had more of the fried potatoes) and next time we are in the area (since we live in TX it will not be soon enough) we will be eating here again.

I don't find myself in southern Indiana often, except for when we're visiting my fiance's family, but every time I come down this restaurant is a must. Be aware that most of the dishes are served family-style. This is a great place to go with a large group of people, but I'm not sure how your experience would be if there were only 2 people in the party. Everything here is so delicious. Their coleslaw is so unique. Sweet with a little bit of sour. I'm not a coleslaw person but I had to have a second helping. I've had both the catfish and the fried chicken. The first time I came I tried the catfish, and it was great but I wish I had ordered the chicken. The chicken, oh wow, the chicken. I've been to the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn in Michigan which boasts the best chicken, but this place has it beat. It's not too greasy, and always moist. The best part is that you can order all white, or all dark if that is your preference. They give you doggie bags to take home, but you can't take home any sides unfortunately. The chicken reheats well. I've never had a bad experience here with the waitstaff. Ours was running around like the Energizer Bunny and was quick on drink refills. She was a thin woman and I know she was working hard because she was sweating up like a storm! This place is handicap accessible but you have to use the front entrance. I cannot sing this place's praises properly.

Food was ok. Rolls were pretty great. Small, though - dollar roll size. We were brought 4 rolls for our party of 3. Would have liked more, but the waitress took our order & we didn't see her again until she brought the check FORTY FIVE minutes later (someone else brought the food to the table). Never once checked on us or offered a refill on anything. She brought two little carry-out containers for us to take the leftover meat (she specified meat) home. We had veggies left over too...what do they do with those??? When she brought the ticket she stated the price by saying, "I need..." and stood there while we dug the money out to pay the tab IMMEDIATELY. Guess a third trip to our table would have been just too much for her. Worst service we've ever had. The food wasn't good enough to overcome the shortcomings on service.

We got here less than 30 minutes to closing, so getting someone's attention for a table was a little difficult.. once we did things were great. I ordered hot ham and cheese sandwich and german fries. both were amazing. I never had german fries before-- now I'm addicted. For ham and cheese sandwich I was blown away. Thick, warm ham and ooey, gooesy cheese- delicious. My bf wasn't too hungry and went with an order of their cheese balls-- wonderful balls of lightly battered cheddar cheese served with warm marinara.

We were staying in a hotel near here. I saw a sign that said something like...Eat at the Log Inn, the oldest restaurant in Indiana. Lincoln ate here.... We had to give it a go.... We loved being seated in the original part of the restaurant that was an old log structure (I assume the rest of the restaurant had been added on around it.) The sealant was missing between the logs and it had such a great, old feel. The food was family style. All the meal sides were determined for us (I think they were cole slaw, green beans, mashed potatoes and corn - maybe bean?). All we had to choose was the meat and then we all shared everything. The food was nice and fresh. Our help was enthusiastic and efficient. The restaurant was very full of all types of parties on a Saturday night. Despite the crowd, we only had to wait 5 minutes for a table. I assume it was not all traveling types like us... I highly recommend going there if you're ever in this neck of the woods.

Yummy! Everything is delicious - fried chicken, mashed potatoes, even the peas! Every time I'm in Evansville I have to go to Log Inn!

You must try the Log Inn when visiting southern Indiana! As a kid (okay even today) I loved all the antique coin-operated machines they've placed throughout the restaurant. The food is delicious, order the Family Style, you won't leave hungry! The food comes is bowls for passing around the table, and you can select from several meats and vegetables. The mashed potatoes and white gravy are addicting, I could easily eat an entire bowl by myself! Great place when you want some homestyle cooking, and well worth the short drive from Evansville. By the way, they don't take credit cards, and they are closed several days a week, so you may want to call ahead and make sure they are open!
