Yum! Great food and great service!!! Manager stopped by to make sure everything was too our liking. Very sweet staff all around. Food was gooooooood!! I highly recommend the catfish and crab florentine. Hubby ordered the shrimp alfredo and was equally impressed. Definitely worth a stop in!

I'm not sure what all of the hype is about. This location has been a few different businesses over the years; most recently Chiefs restaurant and before that 'Anthony's Pizzeria,' which I liked much better. The décor is supposed to have a 'Cajun,' feel, but it really comes up short IMO and is borderline tacky. They don't have much to offer their vegetarian customers, which is the main reason I've only dined here 2 or 3 times. Salads are mediocre (but how do you screw up a salad) and the dill pickle soup was 'ok.' Menu is a decent size with variety. Prices are reasonable as well. Place has been (nearly) completely empty during my visits, with only one waitress-but waitress is very nice. Review has been updated to 3/5 starts because the owner contacted me personally about my review; expressing his concern. Good to know that Chief's really appreciates customer feedback.

The most unique restaurant in Greencastle. Fun atmosphere and staff. You just never know what the daily special will be, but rest assured it will be yummy. If you are there on Pickle Soup day, dive right in and enjoy. Unfortunately, Chiefs is closed. Sad day in Greencastle

My brother planned on dining here after his quick unassuming wedding. We are on the other side of the country and couldn't attend :-( So we called the restaurant and they fixed a nice table for them. We had flowers delivered and they had fantastic service and "excellent" food all around. Thank you so much for making a special day even more memorable!!!

Chief's is the best! I used them for catering this whole summer and it was a hit every single time. I also ate in the restaurant a lot this summer and our food was always hot, delicious, and came out quickly. The staff is very helpful and know the menu really well. I recommend their pork because it's delicious and the catfish is great too. They have a large menu so there's always something new to try. Steve is a wonderful chef and a great person to work with. You can't go wrong!

Yelp helped me find this place. I was in town for business and of course didn't want to hit up a fast food chain. I went to my handy dandy Yelp app for answers. This place is located just off the north side of the square and was just my kind of place. They do a Cajun style menu here with items ranging from salads with grilled chicken and advacado ranch dressing to enormous burgers. I was being healthy that day and went with the Southwestern Chicken Salad. It was great the chicken was seasoned well and the dressing was just what it needed. Service was spot on and friendly. Next time i'm in town this is the place you'll find me around lunch hours.

Greencastle, Indiana is a wasteland as far as good food is concerned. Even the local snackbar Marvin's, popular among students and townies alike, is dire. The one exception is Chief's, a small Cajun-style restaurant just off the town square. It might not look like much, but they do know how to make some tasty meals. I have been to Chief;s many times and have a couple of favorites: the Catfish Submarine is delicious (the banana peppers provide the wow factor); the Big Brentlinger is scrumptious (make sure to have it with their spicy Fillmore Fire Sauce); and BubbaZ Blackened Voodoo Strip Steak has more tastes than any steak I have ever eaten (although sometimes the steak itself is a bit chewy). On the lighter side, the Southwestern Chicken Salad is good and the Veggie Wrap is tasty (but a bit oily). The only weakness of the menu is the sides: both the fries and onion rings are a dime a dozen, while the slaw is fairly tasteless. Overall, Chief's is a gem in Greencastle. Oddly enough, many students and townies have never visited.

Upon arriving in the quaint town of Greencastle for a college visit, we had no idea where to go. Considering that it was 8pm and this place was open (and had the menu online), we went here to try some of the local food instead of stopping in a fast-food place. I'm not sure if we'd do it again. Despite the place being empty, nobody was in sight to seat us and we waited about 3 minutes before someone came out. This happened to other guests as well throughout the night. The menu was your basic american comfort-food type of place. I ordered a burger and my sister got a chicken - sticking to the basics. The good news was service was pretty quick once we sat down and our waitress was friendly. The bad news is that we thought that the food was just "blah." I got the burger with their signature bbq sauce to try something local and wasn't impressed. First, there was too much sauce and it must have been sitting because the bun had sopped up the sauce. Second, it was just bland. The mac and cheese that my sister got as a side was also bland, but I found a bite of her blackened honey mustard chicken to be much tastier. The side items of the baked potato and fries were tasty and what we ate most of, Considering that, I found it to be pricey for what we got and where we were. Perhaps I am just used to City places, but I've experienced better.

I went there for lunch, and want to go back soon. I ordered the Gumbo Ya-Ya which was okay, but not great. However, I got the grilled chicken Southwest Salad with avocado ranch dressing and this was great! My server was very fast, and friendly. Went back another time and got a "crabwhich", a crab patty on a toasted bun. This is by far their best dish. If you go, you much try this.

Wow. This place has it all. Small town feel, big town taste! A true gem in the small town of Greencastle, IN. The menu is reasonably priced and they always have a special going on to save you money. Decent beer list, as they always have something new to wash down their delectable entrees. Go with the Belle of the Bayou if you are really hungry, or grab one of their Specialty Hamburgers, best in Putnam County! The Tupelo Chicken Wings are better than any boneless wings I have ever had. The BBQ Pork is juicy, tender, and delicious! Try the Fillmore Fire BBQ Sauce if you like to bring the heat! Ask for Indy! She will treat you right!

We have been several times now and the food has always been great. Service can be a little slow at times but the staff is very friendly. I have also used them for a last minute catering job for a meeting and they did an awesome job.
