Hubby and I dined here for the first time to celebrate Valentine's Day the Friday after. Very nice ambiance, modern and yet rustic. Lovely fireplace although it was not burning that night which I thought was odd. Would have made it much more cozy and romantic. They don't have a "drink menu" which was also odd. Waiters reply was "we have a full bar, whatever you want I'm sure we can make it for you". A drink menu really would be nice, I love trying specialty cocktails that I don't have to "think up". Decent but pricey wine menu. A glass of Cabernet Sauv was $9. Their least expensive bottle was just under $40. Ordered calamari for an appetizer, a bit chewey but good with a side of marinara sauce. Caesar salads were good and our pasta entrees were good also. I understand they make their own pasta's which is impressive. Portion sizes are not huge which is fine with us because we "try" to eat healthy. Shared a spumoni for dessert which was fine. Overall a fine experience and we'll definitely go back again sometime!

Wow. I was expecting *so* much more. Saturday night and we were the only patrons there. We counted 9 people on staff, standing around. All of our pasta dishes were overcooked. Really surprised about that. Prices were quite expensive. The sauces were good, but couldn't make up for the overcooked pasta . Again, really surprised that everything was so poorly cooked. Wait staff was great. It was clean, nicely decorated. We brought our kids only to find out that they don't have a kids menu. Sub par and quite disappointed.

So decided to try a new restaurant for my birthday dinner. I found capri Italian restaurant in granger. we arrive and are immediately greeted by geno and Michelle and promptly seated. a wonderful waitress approached us and introduced herself as Michelle. She asked us if this was our 1st time. We placed our appetizers and drinks. Then i asked for any suggestions she mentioned a few. I ordered the spinach stuffed ravioli and my wife ordered spinach artichoke pasta. while dining Michelle engaged us in conversation and then geno (who turned out to be the owner) joined. Let me the entire state of Indiana we have been invaded by the Italian cuisine. The menu outstanding, the staff phenomenal, the food amazing, fresh, handmade. This is not eating out like i told the staff capri is the dining experience that Indiana has needed for the last 10 years. I am now on a mission to tell all Hoosiers and others get to capri Italian restaurant. And the wonderful end geno presented me with his homemade chocolate mousse cake and surprised my wife with an incredible cannolli. And i was fortunate to meet and chat with the chef. We were so impressed we decided we will never eat Italian at the other places We will continue to dine at Capri. We decided we are going to treat our friends to those amazing cannolli for Sunday's Easter treats.

Very nice restaurant!! Beautiful interior especially the long mahogany bar. Just sets the whole tone of the dining room beautifully. When we stopped here we had mentioned to our waitress that unfortunately we weren't here to necessarily take our time and were in a bit of a time crunch but really wanted to enjoy a good meal and she said she would definitely let the chef know and we would be served quickly. Within probably less than 10 minutes after ordering, we had our food. We had the spinach fettuccine and the stuffed bell peppers which were both delicious. All in all , only positive things to say about this place and we definitely plan on heading back when we have a little more time!!

The food was very very good, authentic Italian. The pasta top notch, aps and mains cooked well, sauces well seasoned, and the desserts quite delicious. The South Bend/ Mishawaka area should be glad to have this place around -- was in town to visit my parents. My partner and I are quite well travelled diners and found the service acceptable if a little uninformed. Waitstaff should be taught the proper direction to serve and when to clear. We were however lucky enough to have the waiter to ourselves for the majority of our dinner. Finally, the restaurant itself has quite a beautiful and impressive interior.

Had dinner here with a group of friends the other night. The place is really good looking, very Italiano. But the food is pretty awful, the service is slow and the waiter Tony, nice but not sharp; didn't know even basic Italian pronunciation. I felt embarrassed for him. It's pretty hard to mess up Italian food but they managed. Three of us had spaghetti and meatballs and the sauce was very thin and not tasty, the meatballs were some kind of mystery meat. The wine menu is just okay. And it's not cheap! Spend your money elsewhere!

I LOVE Italian food, and had high hopes for Capri. Unfortunately, it was just OK. The restaurant was almost empty at 7:00 on a weeknight, but the host seated us right next to another table. With the "live" room (no carpet or upholstery anywhere), you could easily hear conversations from across the room, and every word the couple next to us said all night. The wine list definitely needs work - there is no indication that there are any wines available by the glass. It only lists bottles and a handfull of half bottles. The bar itself is beautiful and well stocked, but the TVs pointed at the main seating area are very distracting and out of place in a restaurant that is attempting to create an upscale dining experience. The hot bread was delicious, and the butter had a good garlic flavor. Our food was served quickly (perhaps too quickly...), and was decent. There was nothing wrong with either of our dinners, they just didn't impress, and the whole meal seemed rushed. The pricing is fine dining, but the service, ambiance, and food just didn't match up.

We came here on a lovely Saturday night in June expecting some really good Italian cuisine. What a disappointment! Besides us there were 4 other tables. I ordered chicken with rosemary- a Provençal Italian dish- and it came out without a shred of rosemary or mushrooms and it was covered with a brown gravy that was the same gravy that was served on my husbands steak. It was supposed to be made with White Wine! It was not what I wanted or what was described on the menu. My husband ordered a steak with baby portabella mushrooms. It came out with that nursing home brown gravy and crimini mushrooms. His sauce was to be made with Red Wine! Brown Gravy would NEVER be served in Italy over chicken or anything else. If you're going to name your restaurant after a resort island in southern Italy you should atleast Attempt to make some sort of Italian food. Another note-- the manager that has worked there for atleast two years with the short blonde spiky hair was there the whole time and didnt have the courtesy to stop by and inquire about our meal or make a gesture of greeting or anything. There was no quality control. Nobody checked the food before it left the kitchen and the hospitality from the manager was not up to the price point standard expected. I'm not about to send back my entree and ask them to cook it according to the menu description, nor am I going to ask our young server who doesn't know any better to call the manger over when there are only four tables on a Saturday night.

Very nice ambiance. Great service. The good was average for a pretty high price. Wine was $8-$9/ glass for the house blend. Pretty sure I won't recommend or go back.

Went here on a weeknight and was taken aback by how empty it was, as the waitstaff outnumbered guests. It's a fancy place that's very out of place for the neighborhood. The food, while reasonably priced by white tablecloth standards, was more on par with Olive Garden. That's not a diss necessarily, as I like Olive Garden, but if I wanted Olive Garden food, I'd go to Olive Garden, save $30 and eat unlimited breadsticks. I wish this place well, and you could definitely do worse, but I don't think I'll be going back.

It's sad to say that Capri has been on a steady decline in recent months. I've heard great things about the Indy location, but it seems like they just don't care here. We won't be back unless there is a dramatic change...there are better local dining options!

Terrible service and cold food. Took over an hour to get appetizers and another hour to get entrees. When the entrees finally showed up 3/4 were cold. We had to get up several times to go ask for water from the bar, because our waiter was MIA. When we voiced our concerns to the manager he became very defensive and said, "I have no excuse, but I have a party of 100 people in my banquet room." Which, to me, sounded a lot like an excuse. Overall we had a very poor experience the service was terrible from the waiter all the way up to the owner/manager. The food had potential if it had come hot. I understand that the restaurant was clearly overwhelmed, but that's still not an excuse for completely neglecting customers and then acting indignant when customers point out the poor treatment they have received. I would love to see this place to succeed, but it's not going to happen without some serious changes. We won't be back.

Worst restaurant I have ever been to, food was absolutely disgusting, manager didn't want to hear about it. Steak came out and wasn't cooked, service was extremely slow, and messed up everyone's orders. Will never go back here, and don't recommend this place to anyone.

We found this place on "Open Table" and thought we would try it. The reviews I had read had rated it as good to very good. We arrived at about 6:30. The parking lot was about half full. The outside of the building is nice and has a modern look. Once you enter the front door, it looks completely different. Lots of old world Italian decor. Dark woods, black and white pictures of family and friends on the walls. Linen table cloths. As you enter the dining room, you will note a beautiful bar on the left, one of the nicest ones in the area. The owner greeted us at the door and checked us in. We were met by our waiter and escorted to our table. We were offered a choice of several different tables in the restaurant. There is a large fireplace in the back of the restaurant and the background music is standard big band. They have a nice but small wine list and I was surprised to find half bottles available. We didn't order appetizers. I had the OssoBuco and my wife had the Ravioli. Both our entrees were very good. After dinner we had a very nice dessert and coffee. All in all it was a very nice experience. We took several minutes to talk to the owner and he explained some of his background and that of the restaurant. Our dinner cost about $100.00 and included 2 entrees, desert, half bottle of wine and coffee. We will be returning again.

We've been coming to the KAO next door for 30 years and have watched many businesses come and go in that location. This year we finally decided to try Capri since it was so close and friends said it was good. It was large and lovely on the inside, but the music was basically nonexistent, which doesn't set much of a mood. Apparently they were going through menu changes, which just meant they were taking things off the already small menu and not adding anything. My friend asked for 3 different things, just to have the waitress come back and say they didn't have them. The portions were decent. My dad's pasta wasn't cooked all the way and the rolls were slightly burnt. Overall, a very dull and unsatisfactory visit.

We ate there recently and the food was very good. Steak, home-made bolognese pasta, soup, shrimp and home-made pasta, salad, each was very good especially the soup. We will return to try some other menu items. Portions are generous. Service also mostly very good--could have been a trifle more attentive especially because the place was pretty empty (we ate early). The place seats about 150 and they had 10 staff in view, but only needed 3, so let's see how they control staff expenses because it's not cheap to eat there, and they've already raised prices 10% since opening two months ago. Best expense they could spend is to buy a neon sign so you can see the restaurant from the highway a few hundred yards south of the restaurant. Update--ate there again in January 2014 for a late lunch. We both ordered veal, although they got one of our orders wrong--can't understand why, as there were only 4 diners in the place at the time, and we went with their mistake as it was hungry time. Food was very good, and portions were large, although 12.50 for lunch is a bit high in this area. I suggest they lower prices (for all items, soup, appetizers, entrees) and portion sizes by 20%, as both are too high for lunch. Actually, the lunch servings we got would have been an excellent dinner serving in quantity. We will be back, as the veal and accompanying items (potatoes, veggies) were very tasty, and that's what you want when you eat, although this lunch will count as the big meal of the day until they fix prices and portion sizes.

We just love their food, were there already 7 times. It is the best food, what Granger has to offer. It is also a very nice restaurant and bar, with a lot of beautiful wood but wide open, a very nice taste of decorations. Just love it, the atmosphere, the service, the food and the wines. Will go there again and again and again.

This place has an identity crisis! Is it a sports bar with tv sightlines from every table or an upscale experience with tux clad waiters and white linen? The food was priced upscale, service was ok and food nothing special but ok also. My thoughts, go to Sunny Italy if you want Italian and go to LaSalle Grill or Carriage House if you want upscale. We won't be back.

Been here a few more times and again all the food was excellent. The person who said it was like Olive Garden really doesn't know what they are talking about. Writing this follow-up because of the food and because the manager couldn't have been nicer or more helpful when I called about a billing confusing. Great spot and I hope it does well.

We had a delightful dining experience with cloth tablecloths and the ambience of a wood burning fireplace. The help staff was very friendly and we had great service. I had the chicken fettucine, and it was well prepared. It was a bit pricey, but I would totally return. I love to support local restaurants!

For some reason or other Capri fell off our radar for a year or so and we decided to return on a Tuesday night. We were very much looking forward to a good Italian dinner as really good restaurants in our area are very hard to find. The ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful. Upon arriving we were seated with no waiting as only 4 other tables were occupied in the large dining room. After ordering a bottle of wine that was delivered promptly, our waiter told us that he had put bread in the oven and that it would be out shortly. After more than a 15 minute wait, we had to flag down our waiter to ask where the bread was. He obviously had forgotten about it and said before running to the kitchen everything is probably burned. Fortunately this didn't happen but our rolls were so hard that they were almost impossible to cut thru. We ordered a Caesar salad to share and after two specific requests our waiter was able to come up with the contents of the ravioli special--- lobster, scallops and shrimp -- hmmm, sounded delicious, I placed my order for what sounded like a great dinner. Hubby ordered a chicken dish with avocado and prosciutto. The owner came up to chat with us and we expressed our disappointment at the service, he ran off to get our waiter, came back to chat with us and out comes our main course, no salad ever arrived. The owner apologized profusely for the missing salad said this type of service and errors never happens and promptly comped our meal, including wine. The ravioli was - terrible, undercooked, hard and tasted so fishy tasting that I could not eat it, the chef came out and said he probably added too much clam sauce -- that was an understatement. I was delighted that hubby offered up half of his chicken dish that was quite tasty. The owner returned to our table and offered us dessert of cannoli, which was lighty, flaky and not too sweet, the best part of our meal. Water glasses were never refilled and remained empty after initial service. When ordering the cannoli we also requested coffee - which never came. Frustrated with everything, we walked out of the restaurant and vowed never to return and we removed Capri from our "radar" permanently. Too bad, as we really wanted to like this place.

This restaurant is a secret gem hidden in Granger. The caprise salad is made with homemade mozzarella and it's the best I've ever had. The special was the seafood ravioli with lobster and scallops it was divine. My wife had a herb crusted salmon that was spectacular. The desserts tasted like they were made by angels. It was the best cannoli that I have ever had. This restaurant is definitely some place you should visit by far best Italian in Mishawaka South Bend. Just plain fabulous

Just had a delicious meal at Capri. In town for a Notre Dame event and the pasta was fantastic. Had the tagliatelle with chicken, asparagus and sun dried tomato in a cream sauce. Two big puffy homemade rolls came alongside. The service was excellent and the place is very tasteful with old movie posters and 40's music. A very nice evening!

It's no surprise that there are some decent Italian restaurants in Michiana. What is a surprise, at least it was to us, is that the best one is in Granger. Not at Heritage Sq., Granger, but Granger proper. The owner is from Roma, the ambience is from a cigar magazine, and the pasta is from heaven. If you like truly good Italian food, no waiting for a table, pasta made from scratch, and an all-male waitstaff wearing vests, this is the place for you. The owner (actually partner, along with the owner of the original Capri in Indy) who was a commercial chef in Europe before coming to the States seven years ago, worked for Chicago's Mayor Daley as his personal chef before coming to Granger. The food at this place certainly shows his expertise, and the ambience and waitstaff show the fact that he apparently doesn't know where Granger is on the map. We like that. We like everything about this place, except for the fact that the portions could be just a little bit larger. Especially considering the size of the owner himself. We loved it, and can't wait for an excuse to go back.

I actually didn't know this place existed until I came out of Big C Lumber and saw the sign, "Capri". I decided to try it and took my son there for his 38th birthday. If you like Italian, this is very good, but is definitely a high-end restaurant, with great atmosphere, very good service, and excellent home-made food. My wife and I had the spaghetti, (from scratch), and it was the best. The three of us each had a drink, and got out for about $100.00, including the 20% tip. I really like my own home-made spaghetti, but would go back here if I feel like having some excellent Italian food.

We were lucky to find this, driving through to Chicago, a very pleasant surprise. Elegant decor, light music, great service. Upscale menu and quite tasty appetizers (we had shrimp and lobster bisque and goat cheese-arugula-red pepper biscotti). Crusted pepper Salmon special of the day was delicious. Choice of wine was right on. Italian cooking is not just pizza, thank goodness.

Worst restaurant I've ever been to. Waitress took our order and never mentioned the specials. Ordered a tuna steak, it was not fresh, tough, and smelled horrible. We had a party of 13 and no one enjoyed their meal. When we told the chef he was rude and said he's never had a complaint ever before. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I will definitely not be going back... As someone ever so nicely pointed out (by nice I mean very rudely) they did not have Tuna 7 days ago... My review is from December 13th... I do apologize for not writing my review within the proper time lines.

Another great meal last night. The homemade 3 meat lasagna was fantastic. The service as always was friendly and attentive. Eating at Capri is always a nice experience. They have a great menu with many wonderful and homemade items, a beautiful dining room featuring a real wood burning fireplace and a really impressive bar that is great for a pre-meal drink or just to stop in for a relaxing cocktail. Even though it is just off the main road, I would encourage people to experience this underutilized gem. An added bonus: the prices are very reasonable.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Great food - loved the appetizers and homemade pasta Awful service though - slow, unprofessional, unapologetic as well

What a beautiful place! The food was divine, and the service was superb. Our pasta was perfectly aldente, the rolls and appetisers-the perfect enticement. This IS our new Italian place. A hidden gem!

This is the best restaurant I have eaten at in Michiana. Amazing Italian food and drinks. Service has been great, too!

Had the pumpkin ravioli and duck ragu which was tasty but everyone's pasta we were with was way overcooked.Complete mush! Plating was not taken into consideration either. Service was good.

You will have a hard time not getting a great, relaxing meal here at a fair price. Highly recommended. Owner/chef/manager is a gem. Give it a try.

First time, on a Monday evening, didn't want to fight the grape road crowd. My wife and I had the place to ourself. We both had a wonderful meal. What a great place to have a meal for a date night. I will be back to try everything on the menu.

Delicious Italian food. Reasonably priced with giant portions for sides of pasta! Beautiful decor and personal touch from the owner Gino. He often walks table to table to greet guests and get opinions on their meals and drinks. Highly recommended.

Had a great experience. The food was excellent! The staff was awesome! The atmosphere was relaxing. I definitely recommend Capri. If you're looking for authentic, this is where to go. I will be coming back and I will be referring friends.

What a great find!!! White table cloth, classy and great Italian food with great service. Yummy desserts. Loved the chicken breast and sausage entree! Give this one a try!!

Excellent ambiance, cuisine, service, and wine list. I've been to Italy, and this rivals the best.

AMAZING food! Came in a group of 13 for a bachelorette party. Every dish was amazing. Don't leave without dessert. Most places have one dessert which is incredible but every single dessert amazed us. Definitely a place to visit.

Very well-prepared fresh food. Love it. 100% worth the long drive from South Bend

The real deal. Fantastic authentic italian. Best veal dish I've ever had. Great wines. Awesome bar. Chef came out on a slow night and wanted to compliment meal with his desert tray. Unbelievable. We've always had great meals here. They've gotten better.
