Fantastic place...great food and great service...I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the area looking for good food. Pricing was fair too.

One if our favorite places. Steaks are awesome. Great burgers. Tonight I had the special Sea Bass... so wonderful with the fresh crab salad and vinegrette. Service is always friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient.

Shorty spy 1 -Food was good but not good enough to justify the price. My wife is a chief so we are foodies. The chief here is not bad but not great and when you add in the atmosphere it just doesn't give you what you pay for. Shortys pt2- We went back mostly because it's convenient as it is only a couple blocks from my house. I had the ribeye with a salad and baked potato. My wife had the filet. I mention my wife's filet because it was way under cooked. If I go to a general restaurant and order a steak that doesn't turn out well it's not that big of a deal but when I go to a steak house I expect them to know how to cook a piece of meat. My salad was a plain old run of the mill salad, couple of cherry tomatoes, lettuce, shredded cheese, two large slices of onion on top. My French dressing came in a small plastic container like most of the other condiments and was off the shelf. They brought bread and butter to the table, I mentioned to my wife that there was something off about the bread but it wasn't the bread but the butter. They had probably frozen it and it was freezer burnt. Our server was the bartender and so wasn't very attentive, as we finished, the dishes piled up, as she couldn't be bothered to clear them. She popped up every now and then and was pleasant enough but I didn't feel very well served. My steak was cooked correctly and had good flavor, my baked potato was also done well however the presentation left a lot to be desired. It came open with a couple plastic tubs of butter and a plastic sleeve of, to go, sour cream stuffed inside of it. My meal was about 25$ and I think my wife's was about the same. My son was with us. Our total bill came out to about 90$. When you go to a place that charges this much you expect great service, and excellent food at the very least, good atmosphere is a great bonus. This steak house, while not terrible, needs a lot of work.

Very clean. Good food and fast service. Was very busy but our food came out quick. I got a shrimp po boy and bf got a bacon cheese burger we also got their home maid cheese sticks. Burger was ordered med. Rare and cooked perfect. Pot boy was full of flavor. Cheese sticks were good but breading needed some seasoning. Great experience all together. Can't wait to come back and try something new. they had very fast and friendly service.

Awesome! I had the appetizers and they were great. My steak was prepared medium well and was moist and flavorful. Not a fan of the ice tea as it was a bit too strong. The facility was clean and the service fast. We arrived about 5:30 pm and there were only a few occupied tables. By the time we left at 7:00 pm the place was packed and the only available seating was at the bar, which shows the locals love the place!

A nice menu but they seem to miss the mark for a great meal. Not our first visit have eaten there many times always hoping for a bullseye. Still not yet. Had the Friday night special last night of blue gill, fried green beans with hush puppies and a side salad. Green beans were excellent, hush puppies ok, side salad wasn't crisp and bluegill though plentiful was bland. Only option was salt and pepper the table but prefer not to use sodium to make food tastier. No lemon on the plate. Service was very good but when we had to ask for water only 1 glass was brought...2 were sitting at the table! If you want to get a table without waiting get there before 5:45 otherwise they line up real fast as this place is small. This place is always busy but then so is McDonald's drive through.

Shorty's is a fantastic restaurant, whether you choose to take into consideration its unexpected location off Garrett's main drag...or not. After your first visit, you may mistakenly believe you "discovered" this awesome new restaurant in middle of Garrett, until you realize the smarter locals have been visiting since its opening...so why did it take you so long to visit? Some of my immediate family members are obsessed with Shorty's (and its cosmo martinis), so I tend to visit pretty frequently when in town. It is located in a renovated storefront, with a tin-stamp-looking ceiling and beautiful wooden bar. The service is great; you don't see a lot of turnover of their core servers, and "Shorty" is friendly and very welcoming...and well, short. If you grew up around Garrett and northern Allen county, you'll probably see a lot of familiar faces. My more memorable orders: - The almond-crusted grouper w. jalapeno tartar; I usually don't like mayo slathered all over my entrees, but really love the spicy kick of the jalapeno; - Homemade salad dressing options, especially the peanut & sesame vinagrette; - Scallops (especially when incorporated into the daily specials); -Jamaican Jerk burger w. pepper jack; -Peppercorn sirloin (if looking for a cheaper beef item. The prices are the best part. Cocktail, scallops and steaks are more expensive at the better-known steakhouses the next county over, but Shorty's versions taste just as good or better than their "big-city" competitors. Word about Shorty's has gotten out over the last few years, with a more recent stellar review in the local Ft. Wayne paper, so be prepared for a possible wait during the typically busy hours. But, it's worth the wait; trust me and/or my cosmo-soaked relatives.

Although quite a ways from our house, we went there with some family members and some friends...I got a burger...It was really good...the rest of our party got steaks..I tasted my Husbands and it was good..They were very crowded and we had to wait about 30 minutes, but it was okay.... If you are in the area, try them out..Get the burger and onion rings...Pretty tasty..I would go back if in the area...

This is a great find. Had a NY Strip that was done to perfection. Very tender. They have a large choice of sides and everyone that was with us tried something different and we were all pleased. Tried the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and the Chicken Sandwich. Both were excellent. The chicken sandwich is huge. Nice atmosphere with a full bar. Drinks were well made and tasty. I'd recommend!!!

Food was awesome but for the price I thought the place would be nicer.. The decor was dated and looks like it was a bar not a 5 star restaurant.. With the high ceilings it was very noisy you could not here the person across from you!!

I've been coming to Shorty's for the specials since discovering the place last year. They are always creative and beat anything I can get in Fort Wayne. Tonight's filet with lobster medallion was absolutely the best steak I have ever eaten. The chipotle cream sauce gave it just the right richness and the accompanying roasted potatoes were delicious. I love the juxtaposition of such fine food in the old bar converted into small town steak house. Be sure to sign up for the weekly special emails. Thank you Lisa.

Passing thru the area on business and as usual used Yelp to help find a suitable place for dinner. This place is fantastic. Don't let the mom and pop front fool you, this place is worth a stop. The steaks are incredible, I ordered the 6oz filet and it was cooked to perfection. I also got the blue cheese and herb crumbles which were also great. Staff was very friendly. Highly recommend this place!!!

Great service, food and drinks! I had the crab cakes and husband the Jamaican burger - both excellent. Nice find in rural Indiana. Crab cakes and peanut butter pie dessert both quality and homemade. Nice small selection of choice draft beers and full bar.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable dinner at this out-of-the-way restaurant. The building has character which added to the experience. The restaurant is small and well-frequented. I would suggest going early or after 8pm on a Saturday evening. The food was excellent!! My wife had crab cakes which were delicious. Sea Food in the Fort Wayne area isn't usually good. The sauce that came with it was very tasty. I had the rib eye and it was mouth watering!! The onion ring appetizer was on the crunchy side. The waiting area was non-existence and uncomfortable if you have to wait a long time. The wait staff was professional and personable. I would definitely recommend that you try Shorty's!! It's worth the drive to Garrett!!!

Truly a great place for dinner. Although small, they have excellent quality food. Prime rub on Fridays and Saturdays while it lasts is excellent. Any of their steaks are a good bet. The burgers are awesome too.
