As far as breakfast goes, this is a great stop in French Lick. From the road, it doesn't look like much. Inside, most of the "rowboat themed" decorations look like they were last hung up in the 1980's. However, the food is delightful and the people are great too. (also of note: Rowboat Cafe and Denny's are the 2 "sit-down" breakfast places in town... McDonald's doesn't count) Basically, it's extremely affordable and they give you a plateful of food. I like the Rowboat Special. You get 2 eggs, choice of meat, hashbrowns, and a biscuit with a coffee. $7.99. I have heard the catfish sandwich is good too!

There aren't many dining options in French Lick outside of the casino, but the Rowboat Cafe is a great place to go for a reasonably priced breakfast. Nothing fancy. Just good eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, coffee.

Poor service for breakfast before noon. Had to wait for everything, even menu's... Hash browns delivered last when we were ready to leave. Eggs not as ordered. Forgot the butter, lemon, etc. Sorry, can't even rate this place...but yelp made me.

Food was okay. Ordered the fish and chips. I had my fish grilled rather than battered/breaded. Fries were the frozen crinkle cut variety. Didn't have high expectations, so it was okay.

We wanted to find a local place to have breakfast with the family and stopped by the Rowboat on a Sunday morning. The server was friendly. The issue was the breakfast buffet. Three of us ordered the buffet and the food was either hard like it was left too long or out. The place was not busy at all. The buffet consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, grits and biscuits and gravy. This seemed limited for the price. Two of us ordered from the menu and it took a long time to get our food. The other three were done eating. The menu items were prepared fine. Maybe it was just an off day in the kitchen. We subsequently ate at the breakfast buffet at the resort and for $2.00 more a person had a fabulous buffet with fresh fruit and made to order omelettes.

Good food, good service. I give them an A+

The fried fish and the pulled pork (which is apparently smoked on the premises, along with the brisket) are pretty good with generous portions for the price. The sides are generally fried potatoes in some form and are pretty generic. Come here if you're sick of the overpriced resort food.

We eat here at least once every time we are in the area. Every meal we have had has been really good. They have some awesome fried pickles as well. I recommend this place to everyone.

When you stay at West Baden or French Lick Hotel, sometimes the sticker shock can get to you. This place was a fantastic change of pace and price from the resort. My wife and I ate a good breakfast for under 15 bucks! Great home-cooked food, down-home service, and again, VERY affordable. We will eat here every time we go to West Baden or French Lick! What I liked most about this place was it's down home feel, the staff knew everyone, and if they didn't know you, they tried to! Great Southern hospitality!

We came here to have lunch with some friends before they headed back home. We started with the fried pickles which is something that I have never had before and considering that I have never been a fan of pickles, but I loved it! They were salty and crunchy and addictive. For my meal I got the Catfish dinner with salad and baked beans. The catfish had a good cornmeal batter to it and the filets that came were pretty big. I thought the baked beans were really good, there was a touch of what I think may have been brown sugar in them and it made them really good. One of the little gems in French Lick.

A solid choice for good country cooking. Best catfish around. Recently expanded into what used to be the Villager restaurant because they were doing such good business. Prices are very good, especially compared to any nearby metro area.

Ok, I understand that everyone can have a bad day and I shouldn't completely discount a place based on one experience, which is why I gave it 2 stars and not 1. My family went for breakfast on Mother's Day. We were in the main room and ordered our meals. I specifically asked for my hash browns to be crispy. My son got the pancake special. (Pancakes and one strip bacon). My husband got the rowboat special. It was supposed to come with 3 pieces bacon, eggs and hash browns which he cannot eat and had mentioned to the server that he was going to give to our son. When our meals came out 45 minutes later. Son had 3 pieces bacon, husband had none, all of us had hash browns none of which were crispy (hell they were still somewhat cold). The server did explain after she noted my husband checking the time that there was a group of 30 people somewhere else in the building because from our point of view there were only 9 people in the dining room. A very frustrating experience.
