I am absolutely stunned to read positive reviews of this divey timewarp of a Greek diner. Pros: 1. The servers are very friendly. (Although most were dressed in clothes I'd personally reserve for yard work.) 2. They hire deaf workers in the kitchen and as cashiers, and I'm all for that. Cons: Everything else. The dated decor and layers of dust and grime on everything? Not appealing. The allegedly "famous" fried chicken? Very crispy but bland and super crazy greasy. Seriously, my boyfriend's chicken breast had a tablespoon-size pool of grease on it. Most confusing to me are reviews I've seen here and elsewhere heralding the "great" salad bar. Um, huge chunks of iceberg lettuce and a vat of runny cole slaw does not a "great" salad bar make. And the only vegetable options to put on your giant chunks of iceberg are yellowing onions and soggy rancid pickles? No mushrooms? No tomatoes? No peas? No broccoli? Nothing with nutritive value whatsoever? Just a bar full of lettuce, weird discolored toppings and dressings? So strange and nasty. And, considering they can't even make a salad bar featuring fresh ingredients, I'd be very wary of ordering the "fresh" calamari or shrimp listed on the menu. This is landlocked Indiana. There is no way this hell hole is getting FRESH seafood. (Although the SILVERFISH in the bathroom looked fresh!) But don't worry: Your silverWARE is safe, as it comes encased in plastic wrap. WTF? And the set up is bizarre. The cash register is at the back of the restaurant by the kitchen and directly in front of hallway to the restrooms so when a line forms, customers have to repeatedly get out of the way of servers carrying food and fellow patrons attempting to use the bathroom. And speaking of the tiny poorly designed bathroom: What kind of Rubik's Cube expert do you have to be to get in and out of the woman's restroom without maiming yourself? The outer door pushes in and literally hits the door to one of the tiny stalls. If you can maneuver your way into and out of the stall, you have to spend about 5 minutes figuring out how to open the door to get out so the stall doors don't get in its way. It's truly bizarre. Usually I'm not snobby when it comes to divey Greek diner fare because it is what it is. When I lived in Chicago (where you can't swing your arms without hitting a random crappy greasy spoon), I frequented many because, despite the grime, the food delivered. This is not such a place. That it was packed with people who were actually DRESSED UP TO BE THERE was even more confounding. Since I've decided to wear my snob hat, I'm going to say that I sincerely feel sorry for people so used to flavorless fatty food (because it's cheap, I'm guessing?) who don't know that this is about as far from good as a restaurant can get.

Athens is a GREAT Greek Restaurant and I love their traditional Greek dishes but ironically enough, the owner Tom Fila makes the best fried chicken you'll ever have, it's amazing...

Kind of a dive but the waitress was very nice.

Flew in to Indianapolis and needed someplace to eat on the way to Columbus. This place was pretty darn good! I was with a coworker and we both liked the atmosphere. Kind of "ma & pa" feel... We both got all you can eat salad/soup bar. It was good! Can't really go wrong unless the veggies aren't fresh. Everything looked good and fresh and the soups were yummy!

As food choices are limited in the Franklin area near my work I was always wanting to try this place out as I am a sucker for a good gyro for lunch. The first thing that greets you is a retro styled restaurant with red carpeting and outdated booths. The generic bottles of dust covered wine and imitation flowers on each table adds to the outdated feel. I ordered the gyro plate with the "salad bar". The salad bar for a Greek restaurant is severely lacking and does not even include the atypical feta cheese or Greek style salad dressing or tomatoes...the gyro is not even on par with one that I get on the cheap at Jordan's Fish and Chicken. The bread is soggy and the meat and tomatoes come off as an after thought. Very dissapointing. The service is good, but from what I see there is one server for 10 tables. I would not come back.

Love this place!! The fried chicken and Greek salad are yummy! The wait staff is very friendly and treat everyone like family. Just a good ole diner to meet up with friends or family and eat something different! :)

I don't really know where to begin on this one. From the blonde headed waitress yelling OPA! in their very southern drawl to the red velvet covered ... OMG.. EVERYTHING to the super bland moussaka served with WHITE RICE?! How and WHY is this a Greek restaurant?? That is all.

MsAnthro P nailed this restaurant review to a tee! Im a frequent visitor of this restaurant, it always seems to disappoint me. Granted, the visions I have of a Greek restaurant are similar to the dining room in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" film, I am always greeted with a musty lounge with red velvet as the prime decoration (it's EVERYWHERE). The food is meh.... I'm a bit perturbed that I only get ONE olive in my salads, and that they provide me an entire half sliced tomato and onion in my gyro, yet a tablespoon of tzaziki sauce. It's delicious for a Greek restaurant on the outskirts of Indianapolis, but I have and will prefer to experience better.

Just had the pasticchio (sp?) and it came with a pretty huge and tasty greek salad. Restaurant had lots of variety (Greek + American) and I'd definitely recommend. I thought the restaurant was nicely decorated as a Mom & Pop restaurant. Service was super.

This place is actually known for it's fried chicken. Weird, but I guess that works. When I order the gyros, my father in law also makes me get the salad bar so I can put the coleslaw on it. He's right, it's good. If you do go that route, get your onions grilled. (You have to specify.) I don't think a thing has changed in this place in years, but I guess if it aint broke, don't fix it. Good place.

This place is very authentic and has very fresh selections. I prefer something simpler but tried several dishes between all of us that went. Everything was good. Very simple decor. Prices a little higher than I would expect but this is a small town and doesn't have as much traffic as a larger market. Overall pretty good.

We had Sunday lunch there. Friendly, older waitress said their fried chicken was the best she'd ever had so I tried it. My wife had fried shrimp. Far better fried chicken is available down the road at KFC. The shrimp was "ok". The Greek salad was large and good. There was a good sized crowd for lunch when we left. I doubt we'll go back.
