I visited my father in Fort Wayne recently. We had a good lunch at this restaurant, so I bought him a $50 gift certificate. We recently lost my mother so I was hoping my father could get several good lunches using the certificate. When I bought the gift certificate, I wasn't told about any special policies. Last week my father tried to use the gift certificate to pay for his lunch. He was told that he had to use the entire amount for one tab. Since my father is a widower, this makes it hard for him to get the full value of the certificate. I am very disappointed that I wasn't told about this policy when I bought the gift certificate. I have never heard of anything like this before. I am very sad that my gift has turned into a source of frustration for my father. I feel that my father and I have been treated unfairly by this restaurant.

Small restaurant. Great atmosphere. If you're looking for something different and great thai food This is your place. Got the pad Thai...very delicious. My boyfriend got the cashew dish and it was so good also. Careful with the spice. Medium hot was plenty! Not a very private restaurant though. Wouldnt go there if you have important things to discuss privately.

I am an 80 year-old widower who was given a $50 gift certificate to SHTC. After eating a satisfactory meal, I presented my certificate but was told I could only use it once for the total $50. When I objected that my meal was only $9, that the restaurant had had the $50 for two months, that all restaurants I knew just subtracted a meal's amount from the total, that an 80 year-old man doesn't eat $50 of Thai in one lunch, and that in a competitive restaurant field such an anti-customer policy was suicidal, the owner and staff were adamant. Help me improve the learning curve of someone who does not want to be a restaurant owner.

The food wasn't bad, but the prices were a little high. It's very small and you can hear everyone's conversations. The service was subpar, very slow and not exactly what I would call friendly.

We stopped in for lunch, the prices on the lunch menu were quite reasonable. Food was decent, although not as spicy as I expected. Wish the service was a bit more attentive. However, overall it was a good experience.

This restaurant is good. But that's really about it. The two dishes I ordered and a Thai coffee were $27!!!!!!! There is food that is as good in this town that is way less expensive. Try Thai Dinner on Jefferson or Mahnin on Calhoun instead. These two are better Thai restaurants and are WAY cheaper.

Having moved back to the Ft Wayne area after living in San Francisco for over 20 years, I was in search of good asian cuisine. Spice & Herb Thai Cuisine was a great discovery. The entrees are reasonably priced and the food is very authentic. It's family owned, and yes, they are Thai. This is the best Thai food in Ft Wayne.

I've been to a couple Thai places in Ft Wayne, and Spice and Herb by far is the best I have had. From the noodle soup (no not PHO) but very comparable, the red curry dishes are to die for The waitress's are very friendly and courteous and tend to you very closely. The owner comes out in person to ensure the food is good and that you are very happy with it. She is a great lady very personable and very kind, even sometimes funny too. Lol. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for superb tasting experience no matter what you order. Conveniently located on Coldwater and Wallen roads

Nicely decorated, though small restaurant (10-12 tables or so). Enjoyed their thai iced tea; pad thai was okay - was a little sweet for my taste, but at least not drenched in sauce like some of the less authentic places. Would love to try more of the menu next time.

My first visit. Good Thai food and friendly service. Couldn't give 5 stars because service was a little slow. The staff was short handed this day during lunch time and the restaurant was full. Spoke with the owner and she admitted they were short handed this day. We will go back though.

I have eaten here twice - both times I was sick and needed a nice spicy soup to fix me. The soup is so good, tastes authentic, and the portions are huge. I like that you can choose your own level of hotness. The second time I came here, I ordered to go and they offered me a free drink while I waited. Very nice!! This has been the only place I have gone to actually go somewhere specifically for soup. I haven't eaten anything else on the menu except for the soups, so I can't really comment on that, but I'm sure I'll be eating here plenty when I need something authentic.

Some of the best Thai Iced Teas I've ever had. The homemade peanut sauce is crack-addictive and super delicious. Panang Curry was a bit too spicy for being "mild" but it was VERY good. Spring rolls authentic and fresh (on par with Loving Café). Noodles cooked perfectly and devoured by all. The ONLY complaint (which it really isn't) is that the brown rice is a long grain variety, and I prefer the traditional brown that "pops."

This place recently opened up, I love Thai food so I thought I would give it a try on my lunch break. Really good food, my only real complaint is the portion sizes are kind of a rip off, I didnt even get full, the lunch without a drink was $10, definitely pricey for the area and size of portions. If they gave me 1/3 more food I would eat there regularly and would have given it 4 stars but the price to value ratio was just way off, hopefully they realize that people will go to Baan Thai over them just cause the value even though the food is comparable.

I must admit looking at this restaurant from the outside one may perceive it closed as it looks very dark. Upon entering the Thai place, you notice the neat décor and the accent wall. We went on a week night, and there was basically no one there. The only staff member we saw took care of us well. He was attentive and asking if we need anything else or a refill on our drinks. I ordered the Pad Broccoli with Pork. I asked for medium spice. Most think that Thai food is spicy, and yes this can be true. However, my experience with a medium spice level was dreadful. It has NO spice! I was eating soup with uncooked broccoli that was hard as a rock and rice on the side. So my opinion would be if you like something spicy then get the highest spice level or you will leave disappointed. I also would have to agree with many others that this place is over priced.

Please, People, stay away: I want to keep this little gem to myself! While their new staff is ramping up, service is still attentive and quick. Spice levels are true Thai, so expect some sweating with anything at or above "Medium". The lunch specials are good and plentiful, including a soup and spring roll. My "Go-to's" are the Chicken Drunken noodle and the Chicken Green Curry. Don't miss the Mango and Sticky rice, if they have it!

The best Thai food in Fort Wayne. The menu has lots of great selections. everything is done well. The owner usually comes out to talk with you at some point. The ladies that run the shop are very nice and add to the atmosphere. The facility can be small and tight if you go when it's busy. Definitely recommend this place over the other Thai places!

Visiting from out of town and I was concerned about Thai from Fort Wayne but the other reviews were promising so I gave it a try. The two women waiting for me were very pleasant and were shocked that I ordered Thai spicy. Their Thai spicy was atomic like one of the other reviews had said (read it after i ordered) but it was still GREAT! I order the Veggie Spring Rolls and Beef Ka Prow which was great and included additional veggies I'm not used to normally. My ONLY complain would be the take out containers didn't make for easy consumption but of course that's "first world problems" in the end it was great! thanks for making my Indi visit not a complete waste :)

We ordered pan fried rice noodles and a pan fried glass noodles dish. Both entrees were spot on. Even though the menu says it isn't a spicy dish, the staff still asks you if you would like some spice in it. The staff is very friendly and attentive. This is a must visit location for good Thai food. Having spent some time in Thailand myself, I can tell you the food is quite authentic. Since it was cold outside, we had hot jasmine tea. If it weren't for the weather, we would have ordered the Thai iced coffees. Those are excellent. This small place is definitely worth going to!

Great little place. Food was good and the staff friendly and helpful. Panang Curry was amazing. We had a seafood Pad Thai that was different but good. The Basil Duck was tender, spicy and very tasty. I would definitely go back.

Authentic, Fresh, Friendly, Huge Portions Authentic homemade Thai food. A small restaurant with about 9 tables. Chef comes out to talk to customers. Waitress is also very friendly. Chef picks herbs from her yard to put in arrangements in vases on the tables. They have kids meals. We had the kids' fried rice-plenty of vegetables but not too many. Nice pieces of broccoli cooked just right-not too soft and not too hard. I had the green curry with tofu. Tofu and vegetables were just the right firmness. It was spicy. We also had the pad Thai, which was very fresh. We had the orange chicken which was wonderfully sweet, not syrupy but just enough sweetness-light and lightly fried. The kids' meal also came with an appetizer - an apple cut up to make a bird. My son loved it. Portions are huge - there is definitely enough to make two dinners out of one pad Thai entree. We will definitely return.

The customer service was fantastic - I was offered a glass of water while waiting for my carry out. Its a small, but cute, sitting area. Clean, with authentic woven tablecloths (one of which had elephants!) and photographs of thailand on the wall. I got spicy basil. The spicy level was great but it didn't have the flavor of other Thai food I've had before - the intense combination of flavors wasn't there. The tofu was good though. But because of the wonderful service, my rating is high. And my hope for greater flavor in my next order.

Got a take-out order from this small family-run business on a Saturday night for first time. FYI, they are closed on Tuesday. The person on the phone was hard to understand, which is usually a good sign. They had a huge selection on their take-out menu and good vegetarian selections. 4/5 for selection. Warning for someone not familiar with Thai food: mild is medium, medium is hot, and the hot is atomic. Ordered chicken satay, summer rolls, chicken pad Thai, chicken mango curry, Thai ice tea, and Thai iced coffee. The total came to $58 after tip. This is kind of expensive and Baan Thai is about 10-20% cheaper. Luckily, the dinner portions were full size. 2/5 for value. The vegetarian summer rolls were awesome. Sooo many ingredients and the peanut sauce was great. Not your ordinary sauce. The rice paper was massive in size and they must special order, because I haven't found anywhere in the Fort that stocks them of this size. The only issue was that there is almost too much rice paper and I didn't eat the caps at the end. The chicken satay was tender, but lacked a little taste. It seems like they did not marinate them which is probably why they weren't tough. While lacking some flavor, I would order again. The pad Thai was traditionally made, but was a little too sweet. The mango curry was good, but you can tell they use the same red curry sauce for all their dishes. I got a piece of potato and eggplant in mine. The Thai drinks were okay but the coffee lacked a little punch. It was overwhelmed by milk. 3/5 for taste.

Excellent food, very cute place and a very large menu. Had lunch there and the citrus broth Tom Yum soup was AMAZING, and the best egg rolls i have ever had! Lunch is reasonably priced, but the same soup (plus 5 shrimp) for dinner was over $18. That's a lot of money for a bowl of soup that's not too much bigger than the lunch version. Go there for lunch or split dinner, it's delicious!

Came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago. There are only a few Thai restaurants in Fort Wayne. I really hope this restaurant stays, because there are many more positives than negatives. The positives: Most of the entrees we tried were very good. The spring rolls are crunchy and light, and filled with fresh vegetables, unlike many other restaurants that serve leaden, previously frozen rolls. The curries have a nice balance of flavors, and the green curry we had was really delicious (with pork). The wait staff is courteous and helpful. The atmosphere is charming, relaxed, clean. The Thai ice tea came in a tall pilsner flute; I shared it and did not finish it. It was very, very sweet. Most dishes can be adjusted for spiciness. The four pepper "Thai spicy" was indeed what would be considered spicy for native Thai cooking, but was really good. The noodle dishes are very good. The pad Thai was not overly sweet or greasy, and had a nice sprinkling of peanuts and bean sprouts, just as it should be. Not a weird red color as in some Thai restaurants. The negative: the food tends to be very salty. The seafood entrees are over-priced. I can't see a Thai restaurant in Fort Wayne staying afloat while charging $17 for shrimp pad Thai. The soups are way overpriced. They do not come in individual servings, but must be ordered as entrees. I can't see two people finishing a large tureen of soup, and not for $20. I ordered a Tom Yum soup to go for lunch. It was $7.99, like the other entrees, but the restaurant did not given me either rice or spring roll. Maybe it was just an oversight; I didn't ask about it.

My wife and I went there on the 3rd of July while visiting Fort Wayne. Excellent service, great food, and the owner was so nice. I wish we could've sat a little longer but the highway was waiting for us.

I had the pad kee mao (lunch special) and I liked the spice level and the fresh flavor. My friend ordered Pad Thai and liked it as well. I plan to go back again. The place is small and has a cozy feel. Our waitress was attentive and nice.

Food is fantastic and the servers are very friendly! Everything is freshly made and the chef often comes out to speak with guests if she isn't too busy. The Thai Ice Tea is a favorite of my daughter. The Drunken Noodles with chicken is my favorite entree. We also really like the spring rolls and crab Rangoon for appetizers.

Too bad! It was going to be such a great dinner. Someone took care to decorate. The waitstaff is attentive. The Diet Coke arrived with the most beautiful micro rose, a flower folded out of the paper sleeve that elegantly protects the tip of the drinking straw... But the food...well... Spring rolls were indeed chock full of fresh veggies (including sesame leaves! yum!), but dipping sauce was icky-sticky-too-sweet tamarind! My entree (Thai basil tofu) smelled awful. (Imagine sticking your nose in a new box of Bandaids.) It came with a heart-shaped mold of rice (brown rice at no extra charge). The prices were 30% higher than the norm. Dinner for two (including tip) was $40, and some entree salads on the menu are over $15.

At the beginning of this year (2012), they changed their "closed" day from Monday to Tuesday!! Their current hours are: Lunch: Monday-Saturday 11:00AM-4:00PM Dinner: Monday-Thursday 4:00PM-9:00PM AND Friday-Saturday 4:00PM-9:30PM, Sunday 11:00AM-8:00PM CLOSED TUESDAY Today was my second visit. I first came here in late October, 2011, when they had been open for 3 weeks. That was on a Saturday, and we found out that there were no "lunches" served on Saturday. They were only serving off the "dinner" menu all day Saturday, which meant higher prices!! The food and service were only so-so during that visit. I chalked it up to their lack of experience. Today, I stopped in to order for take-out. My wife got the beef pad-thai (stir-fried traditional rice noodles, meat with egg, garlic, bean sprouts, green onions, and tofu in the famous Thai sauce served with ground peanuts, julienne carrots, cabbage and purple cabbage) lunch special, and I had the chicken gang dang (sliced meat in red curry with coconut milk, bamboo shoots, green beans, bell peppers, basil leaves and kaffir lime leaves) lunch special. The lunch specials included the day's soup (tofu soup today) and a vegetarian egg roll. My dish also came with steamed rice. Both dishes were in good quantity and tasty. Oh...by the way, you can order any dish "mild", "medium" or "spicy". I like it kinda spicy, so I got the "medium". My wife likes it "mild". This place has authentic Thai food, and has reasonably priced lunch specials ($7.99). Their food is tasty, and they serve a good quantity of food. Their dinners are priced higher, in the range of $10.95 to $22.95 (seafood specialties). Watch out for their "dinner all day" Saturday. (Dinner prices ALL DAY!)

I agreed with Jake M that it's very pricy. I went for lunch 1st time ordering stir-fry noodle lunch special which listed on the menu for $7.99. The food was a little salty but it's still quite good. Portion of my order was small comparing to the price but I can accept that. However, when I got the bill, they charged me for 10.99. The sever explained to me that it was a mistake on their menu. I tried to understand them again as they just recently opened up so mistake can happen. I went there again 2nd time on Sunday to find out that the restaurant was closed for no reason even the business hours posted on their door said it's open. Never mind, I told myself again their business is just started. Today, I went there again during lunch ordering the same stir-fry noodle. This time, the food quality is nowhere near the first time. Noodle is so hard like it just came out from the fridge. The sauce they use for making that noodle was really condense and band. It's just tasteless and the portion was even smaller than the portion I had the 1st time. They charged me $5 for Thai ice tea which I found out later that its price was listed on the menu for $3.50!!. I loved Thai food and always searching for a good one. I'm afraid no more trial and error for me at this place. By the way, be cautious when adding seafood onto your meal. They will charge $10 more!!

We were searching for a new thai spot since our normal place is closed on Mondays. This place is in an awkward strip mall, which may be why we were the only ones in there at 7 on a Monday. Menu was outdated and too hard to read. We started off with spring rolls and crab rangoon, we could hear the ding of a microwave shortly before they arrived, sure enough they had been reheated. Main courses were nothing special.

Stopped in for a quick lunch order. The place is 'quaint' and simple. Maybe it's better at night but I felt the Asian ambiance was a bit lacking. I was also...um...surprised to see the owner seated at a table inhaling a huge bowl of pho and taking her meds . (Yes, I mean meds. She had a big bag of about 8-10 prescription bottles on the table.) And another employee was sitting down having lunch at the table with one of the customers. I was curious who the heck was even working! Since everything on the menu was so crazy expensive (I wanted soup and a thai tea but that was more than $10) I ended up ordering a kids chicken and rice soup. It took longer than expected, probably because all the employees were eating, so I wasn't happy with the wait considering the probability that the soup wasn't made to order. On to the quality though... The portion of the soup was more than adequate for being kids sized. It was actually the same amount I usually get from Chinese restaurants when I get a regular to-go order. In addition, the flavor was awesome. It had more depth than just a simple chicken broth. It could have been scratch made. It tasted like an herbaceous broth with some soy sauce added. It was filled with large chunks of tender white meat chicken, white rice, minced garlic, diced scallions and sprinkled with cilantro leaves. For the $4.99 I paid, I felt like it was a great value. And did I mention it came with a spring roll? Yep! (It wasn't the best due to a slight oceanic taste in the first bite) but if I'd been in the mood for fried food, I would've eaten it. All in all, if I was in the area, I'd stop in for another kids soup. And the pho the owner was having, looked delicious. But due to the prices, if I can't get it from the kids menu, I just can't justify spending that kind of money on thai food in Fort Wayne.

I decided to come here because I wanted some Thai food. It's a really small place and there's not a lot of seatings. I ordered the Thai tea bc I always get that at a Thai restaurant. It's good but a little too sweet for me. I definitely had better. For my entrée, I had the chicken pad Thai and it was alright. The flavors were alright and it wasn't too spicy at all. Overall, I would come here again because it's close to my apartment but I've had better Thai food - check out mahnin in downtown Fort Wayne. It is amazing there!

Excellent! We just ate there today for lunch. I ordered drunken noodles, my friend ordered pad Thai. The service was excellent, the menu is fair priced, and the food taste amazing! I do however think they need to update their menu to show missing items or add pictures of food. Otherwise I would highly recommend it!

Boyfriend went over to pick up food for us tonight. Granted we didn't order ahead but the guy that took his carry out order said it would take 20 minutes. 55 minutes later, the food came out. When my boyfriend said something about the wait being so long, the guy laughed. You would think that he'd take off the cost of the appetizer or something. Maybe we're just used to Thai places in Los Angeles, one on every block and they deliver in 5 minutes. This one doesn't do it for us. We won't be going here again.
