My family and I couldn't be more pleased with our Sunday afternoon luncheon at this restaurant. The vegan sandwiches and soups were superb. All on delicious home-baked breads.

Stopped in for a late lunch while traveling for work and can say this is the best food I've had in Fort Wayne. Atmosphere is nothing special, but good food and friendly service. They had a unique and tasty sounding offering of soups. I tried the Greek Lentil and it was really good as well as a gluten free cookie that I can't remember the name of but it was chocolaty goodness! As other reviewers noted, it's tucked inside the arts building but was really easy to find as an out of towner. I also love that they sell organic and rare seeds, but unfortunately I don't have a garden to plant them in yet.

Tucked inside the performing arts center in downtown Fort Wayne, this place can be tricky to find, but once you get there it is worth the trek! We stopped by here for lunch while in town for work. Finding gluten free food in Fort Wayne is no easy task (although getting easier!). They cater to vegans, vegetarians, GF folks, and even have started incorporating kosher items here. However, carnivores can also partake in their tasty food. Tons of non-dairy milk available for drinks too such as soy milk, almond milk, and coconut milk. I ordered a turkey sandwich on their home made gluten free bread and their gluten free slice of vanilla cake topped with pecans. Both were SO good! The sandwich was standard (it was so nice to have a good bread that is not Udi's) but the cake was amazing - soft and fluffy, flavorful, and the icing was not overly sweet. What was mostly impressive was that this place does gluten free right - not just offering it to make some extra cash. They take a ton of precautions to prevent cross-contamination which I can truly appreciate. Their GF bread is all bagged separately and they change their gloves when making the sandwiches; same for getting the pastries out of the case. They have a separate baking area in the back for gluten free pastries and even have a separate device for making latte and cappuccino for non-dairy milks! I overheard her tell another customer that she couldn't slice a loaf of GF bread for her because she did not have a dedicated slicer - love that. The owner was friendly and super knowledgeable. It was so nice to eat with peace of mind! NOTE: Go on to their website to check out their monthly menu as it rotates.

Love the marinated tofu sandwiches with chickpea salad. The bread is delicious. The baked goods are vegan and amazing. The soups are generally good.

Places like this are hard to find in a city like Fort Wayne. Great location, across from the Performing Arts Center right off Main St. A casual, eclectic setting adds great vibes The menu is almost entirely vegan or vegetarian, with all ingredients very clearly indicated. The daily specials will keep you coming back for new tasty options every day, and the vegan and gluten free naked goods are delicious.

I decided to try a vegan lunch today. I was a little surprised that they were open on Easter...and not having much activity downtown makes for a slow day. My sister and I were the only two customers during our visit so we received prompt, friendly service. I went with the half and half combo choosing the vegan chilli, salad and chocolate chip cookie. I wish they had just a simple olive oil/vinegar dressing since I'm not a fan of the (other) vinaigrette. I had to go with ranch...otherwise everything was pretty good. There are a few other things on the menu that peeked my interests so I do hope to go back.

Pembroke is well kept secret, well as least it was to me...lol I have to say the food is awesome this was my very first experience eating vegan food, I will be returning again.

Having worked ridiculously close to this place for over a year, I make at least two trips in there a week. The staff is always friendly and their business model is admirable! Dealing primarily with locally produced food, Pembroke provides a fresh alternative to a lot of other lunch options out there. There are plenty of gluten-free options in their baked goods and soups-- they truly care about those with dietary limits having plenty of options. You can even order gluten-free cupcakes, cakes, brownies, etc for parties or just for yourself! Daily, they post their specials on Facebook and I almost die each time I see they've made fresh Danishes... so good. The most impressive thing about this place is the diversity in their food. There is a constantly changing menu, and they are open to requests. Don't be surprised to find recipes from all over the world! I have yet to taste anything there that isn't delicious, but if you like, they are willing to give samples of soups and rice dishes before you buy. The only criticism I can give is that service can be a bit slow. They do take care with each customer, though! Give it a try! It's located INSIDE the Auer Center for Culture-- I know many people have a hard time finding it!

They got it right! Not a knock of anything-Great location, newer business, model.. Starbucks would get killed if they tried to compete with them! They make their own chocolate chip cookies, brownies fresh out of the ovens in back. The brownies where still in the cooking pan when I got one. They also feature other coffee house homemade baked goods. Do not be afraid of the words like gluten free and dairy free. The food here does not taste like cardboard, soaked in skim milk? The location is "perfect", Located in a Fort Wayne Museum of arts building. It will ensure a lot of woman who have "nothing to do" will visit. Also being located one floor below the Fort Wayne dance collective. This will help fill the place with people looking for Pembroke's vegetarian offerings. The owners have run this shop for about nine months. And has received rave reviews from others. Their background is equally impressive. Starting in the farmers markets and catering services, they learned to survive. And this place is their end result.

Great little cafe tucked away in a large building. Had the Beet burger. Pretty interesting & good. If was in this town more then a day would be back for sure to try other items they were offering. Very nice friendly staff.

Firstly, I want to clarify the location, because a reviewer got it wrong: They're located not in the museum of art, but across the street in the Auer center for arts & culture. secondly, the Fort wayne ballet is located in that building as well, not the fort wayne dance collective. I work across the street at the arts united box office, and eat lunch here a few times a week and am always satisfied with everything that Angie, the owner, is doing with the business. I'm not vegan, nor do I focus on a gluten-free diet, but I appreciate every single thing that is on her menu. A few of the staff are a little slow in serving, but over-all I could not be happier with this place!

My wife and I came to this hidden lil place and loved it! They have good and informative reading material so you can sit down and enjoy your delicious meal or snacks and drinks. Great service too!

I'm in love with this place! I've been a few times since moving here and have never had a disappointing experience. While I try to eat vegan/gluten-free sometimes, my boyfriend does not and I've brought him home vegan or gluten-free treats from here and he's gobbled them up! While the bakery items are delicious, so are their soups and salads (I haven't tried a sandwich yet). It's an adorable little place, the staff is super friendly and takes their time answering any questions you have about the food. I also love the chocolate they carry - I think it's called Bug Bites - yummy! Definitely recommend!

It is so nice to have healthy options for lunch. The menu changes daily with specials and then there are the deli sandwiches, soups and rice specials. As a Vegetarian it is nice to know exactly what I am getting. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Vegan Food! Yay! The Pembroke Bakery & Cafe is located on the main floor of the Auer Center at 300 E. Main St. They alternate their soups and beans/rice dish daily and they have a delicious salad/sandwich bar with meat options available for omnivores. At least 1 of the daily soups is vegan and the daily beans/rice option is vegan too. All of the cookies and other baked goods (fresh bread!) are vegan! Yay! They also specialize in gluten free breads and baked goods. Give them a try and I promise you won't be disappointed. My favorite beans/rice dish is the mujadra but the spicy red beans/rice is a close second. Yay for local, vegan and organic!

I second the "First to Review" Pembroke, "Yay for local, vegan and organic!" I love the place, location, and concept. What I ate (peas & rice dish and cup of salmorejo, cold tomato soup) wasn't exceptional, and customer service interaction was odd (staff were deeply engaged in conversations with other customers and ignored me - I felt like I crashed their party?!) but I will defintely give it another shot.

they have gluten free and vegan choices, although I am neither, the food was delicious! I would highly recommend it!
