We love City BBQ! The portion sizes are large, my husband and I usually share a city sampler and leave satisfied, not overly full. The deluxe city sampler is enough to feed three adults with extra left over. I'm a fan of the sausage and pulled pork. I also love the green beans. Everything has a nice smoked flavor. We will definately be back!

I am stunned by this place. So are my taste buds, but I will get to the food in a minute! The place is done up in a nice bbq decor, very fitting for the food they serve there. Clean, with a nice noise level, the place was packed but not loud at all. My cashier/food analyst, Crystal was flat out AMAZING. Crystal was enthusiastic, charming, and very knowledgeable about their menu. Every restaurant needs a Crystal. City Barbecue, if you read this, Crystal made my 1st experience at your restaurant a memorable one. I ordered the More Cowbell per Crystal's recommendation, and I am so glad I did! this sandwich served on Texas toast was melt in your mouth good. Borderline sinful if you ask me. the brisket was spot on with flavor and tenderness. It was a little smaller than I expected for the price, but it was a lunch portion, so it makes sense. I am also glad it was not XL in size, it gave me an excuse to try their LoLo Pork. Served with vinegar slaw on the sandwich, it made me want to kiss the Pitmaster. Yes, that good. The vinegar slaw and baked beans sides complimented my sandwiches well, and they were a good portion too. The fresh brewed tea was so good too. One final note, they promote Indiana craft beer. This place is worth it in every way you can imagine. I will be back time and time again.

Autism friendly staff! Excellent hush puppies and brisket. Be sure to order fried pickles too! We got to try the meat before we picked our meal. After dinner we also got to sample peach cobbler. As a first time guest, the set up was a little confusing due to order at front, pick up meat at counter, and fried food is brought to the table. It seems easier and more accommodating to get all your food at once. Will likely return soon, good prices and large portions.

I first tried city bbq in Carmel, so good! The one is fishers is just as good if not better! Love the family sized seating available, as we needed it when our parents were here!

Yes - it really is that good! I've heard a lot of good things about City Barbeque, but I've had my share of BBQ over the years, so I wasn't too excited. I was pleasantly surprised from the minute I walked in. As my wife and I entered, a young lady noticed our "deer in headlights" look and explained the City Barbeque experience with an enthusiastic smile. As we stared (blankly) at the menu she then offered some samples so we could make the best choice. Wow - great brisket and pulled pork! We ordered the lunch plate version of brisket and pork with corn pudding, hush puppies, vinegar slaw and green beans. All of the sides were fantastic! The actual protein portions seemed a little skimpy (about 5 oz) but my wife and I were stuffed when we left. Come here for the food and you will not be disappointed. Serving sizes are just right and you can't go wrong with whatever you order. Know, also, that you will get fantastic service. From the friendly person that met us at the door to the delightful cashier, Crystal, to the people bussing the tables. There is a friendly feel as though you're at a church potluck and everyone wants to make sure enjoy yourself. We have a fantastic time - and we're already planning our next trip with the family. Can't get enough of this food and service!

Visited there a few days after the grand opening. There are two lanes but fed from one lane on the left side. The queue is not good because the people standing in the right register lane block those finished with their order in the left register lane. Those in the left lane block people going to the right register lane. It's jammed in there. Now, for the food. The brisket is very tender. Smoke...but I would not say a ton of flavor. It's a bit greasy but not bad. I might get it again. They do have good portions of food. We also ordered many other things just to try...pulled pork was plenty and we took some home. The chicken thigh/leg was OK. Quite greasy but tender. The hush puppies were some of the best around. Nice and oniony but not overly so. We ordered a batch of bacon cheese fries. Very greasy and the bacon didn't have much flavor. I wouldn't get those again. Finally, the banana pudding for desert. They ask you if you want whip cream. If so, the cream comes in a separate container. I see many women here write big kudos on the banana pudding. They must have never tasted real banana pudding. This banana pudding tasted like instant pudding, and had a fake banana flavor. There are real bananas in the pudding. The problem is with the pudding itself. It is fake banana. What else can you say? If they really wanted to do it right, they need to do it with real vanilla pudding and cook it. I would not get the banana pudding again due to the chemical taste. An African American lady at the next table had a batch of the sweet potato dish. She said it was outstanding. I can't vouch for that but that was her review of it. The sauces at each table are not that flavorful nor are any spicy. Some of those sauces could use some heat...and I am not a high heat fan. I struggled to tell the difference from one red sauce to another. They did have a weird vinegar sauce that I was really hoping would be like a NC vinegar sauce. It wasn't. You'll come away from City Barbecue feeling filled up for sure. The portions are good and the price does reflect it. When you are done with your meal, there is a lot of cleanup at the table. The most I've ever seen in a fast food atmosphere(this is not fast food but a smoke barbecue joint). If I don't go there again it wouldn't kill me. Since it is convenient for me, I might visit once in a while. If you are looking at other barbecue joints, it is better than Famous Daves but not as good as GT South's. Famous Dave's has wings...and City doesn't. The restaurant itself is quite clean. It's brand new so i would expect it. Plenty of waitstaff right off the bat. Everyone was trying to learn their jobs and they'll get better. No fault there. The manager did come around and talk with people.

I have eaten a lot of BBQ over the past 20 years in North Carolina. Every thing we ordered was excellent. Love the pulled pork with slaw. Tender with that nice browned edges and no fatty waste! Love their sauces and the hush puppies are awesome. Will return many times!

*2 visits *Carry-out both times *Items tasted: cowbell sandwich, ribs, mac/cheese, vinegar slaw, baked beans w/ brisket, gumbo *Priced appropriate I'd like to give two separate ratings: 3 for the food and 4 1/2 for the staff. Overall, I'll give a 4 star rating here. Visited this establishment today for the 2nd time. Today is Labor Day which has meant family & BBQ my entire life (I'm 44). My family lives out of state so it's just me, and since I can't have a smoker in my apartment complex to cook my own, I decided to visit City BBQ. First, the staff is great. Always friendly, polite and courteous (this seems to be a lost art nowadays). They take pride in the menu and restaurant. Greeted with smiles on both visits. While I've never dined in, the restaurant appears clean. It's a nice BBQ spot. The food is good but not knock your socks off good. Today, I had 1/2 slab w/ vinegar slaw and baked beans w/ brisket. The ribs were good. Nice and tender. Cooked about right. However, they seem to lack something for my taste buds. Maybe it's the rub. Could be the sauce (tasted the original and the spicy). BBQ if one of my favorite fares. This just didn't do it for me. It is, however, a good option if you don't know how or don't want to cook your own. I will visit again because there are more menu items I'd like to try. Maybe other items, like the brisket and pulled pork, will wow my palette. Maybe next time I'll dine in.

The best barbeque in the county is at...a chain? *audible gasp* It's true. I didn't want to believe it, either, but City Barbeque just hits the ticket every time if you're in a BBQ-craving rut. This place is quick and cheap, and the food...not just the sandwiches and other meats, but most of the sides as well (something barbeque places seem to forget needs to be good also). Aaaaand...it's conveniently located right next to Graeter's ice cream...if only it was possible to have room for Graeter's after a meal at City Barbeque.

Glad to have a location closer to home, The bbq is consistently good, especially the pork and turkey. A good option for take-home dinners when you're tired of the same old fast food.

Love City Barbeque and the Fishers location. The staff is always friendly, and I've tried almost every menu item and have never been disappointed. My personal favorite is the brisket sandwich with a side of corn pudding and baked beans. The cornbread is my other favorite. If you want fries they are always fresh and will not disappoint. The only side I didn't find appealing was the coleslaw. It's a personal preference, but their slaw is a vinegar based slaw and I'm not a fan. Overall though highly recommended.

Great place to buy barbeque meat by the pound. I usually use their online ordering system and prepay. Beware - this place is crazy busy. Even if you pay ahead - you WILL wait at the pick up counter. Would advise that you pick up during off hours. The barbeque is excellent. I'll get a pound each of pulled pork and brisket - then buy my own buns and make my own slaw. Will feed family of 5 for 2 days. Very friendly staff. Seems like a very well run place - even though the pick up counter can be a clusterfudge at times.

This is the second time I go to this store, and I recommended to my wife. We got the beef brisket, smoked turkey and smoked half chicken. Long story short, beef brisket is amazing. Turkey is good, but the chicken is just horrible! It is huge.. I swear the chicken is oversized, that it was undercooked. We did not eat it, and it had to go to waste. We didn't take it back, because we were grosses out, and I'm sure they'll apoligize and replace us with another overhuge sized hlaf chicken My advise, stay away from the chicken

Sides seem to be their forte. They are good. Sadly, Ribs are fatty and tough-do not fall off bone. So only 2 stars

I always thought you couldn't make good barbecue at a chain restaurant, well I was wrong. I got the sampler plater to fast a variety of items. Meats: Brisket - It had a nice smoke ring and was very tasteful. I was sold on this place when I tasted it. I judge barbecue with brisket like I judge Italian with there lasagna. Turkey & Pulled Pork - they were both very good and juicy. It is very hard to keep smoked turkey juicy but some how they have managed to do it. Sausage - When I cut into the sausage I was expecting a lot of grease like all the other places, I was wrong it was juicy but not grease. It has a very good peppered flavor that stays with you for a minute. Sides: Greens, Green Beans and Texas Toast - they were all good but I was pretty full from all that meat listed above. Mac & Cheese - I thought it was creamy and very good. It was not dry or grease like you get at other locations. My father in law thinks it is the best thing on earth. Try it and make your own decision.

This place was really good. In addition to the typical varieties of meats there was a very nice selection of side dishes. All of the food that I had was good and there were generous portions at reasonable prices. Really great experience.

We've driven by and pointed to City Barbeque in Columbus, OH a few times when I went to school there. Never got the chance to try it until the chain spread like wildfire across Indiana. This BBQ concept was completely new to me (I haven't ventured to Kansas City, Texas, Tennessee...). Upon walking in, there's the order line to your left and dining room to your right. It's kind of like Panera Bread, where you order, pick up your food, and choose your own table. So if you're a first timer, they give you a tiny meat sample as you hop into the line to order. The cashiers are really willing to help you figure out what you want if you've got a million questions. To save the hassle, we ended up ordering the Deluxe City Sampler. It's the whole shabam complete with 1/4 chicken (breast/wing or leg/thigh), 1/2 slab ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, 2 sides, 2 cornbreads and Texas toast. More than enough for two! For the 2 sides we chose the fries and green beans with bacon. We also got 2 fountain drinks - typical sodas, sweet/unsweetened tea, and lemonade (free refills). They've got a condiment table (pickles/sauces), wet naps, to-go boxes/bbq sauce containers right next to the fountain sodas. The food? I believe it's better than Squealers, Famous Dave's, and all those other chain BBQs in Indy. City BBQ's ribs were fall of the bone good, pulled pork was juicy, brisket was tender, and chicken was nothing special. Drench those meats and sop up a mixture of mustard and brushfire BBQ sauce with your cornbread/Texas toast. Shake up that spiced vinegrette right into your fries and pulled pork for a bit of zing. Normally I hate cooked to death green beans, but the bacon makes everything better. The sampler's the best way to go if you've got a friend to share with. It's a real meal deal vs. the a la carte. You'll even have leftovers for lunch the next day. Don't forget to pack a few sauce cups in your box as well! It's our new fave BBQ hotspot, so we'll definitely be returning!

The food was downright amazing. We ordered a combo platter and shared it just so we could try a little bit of everything. I would definitely go back here again, the portions were generous and the food tasted nice and fresh and tasty! cool atmosphere, nice big outdoor seating area! Definitely a winner

It had been nearly 15 years since I partook of City Barbeque (in Toledo, Ohio). Today with a locale in lil' ole Fishers the times have changed. I can still remember when they only had 5 locations (up to 10 cities now with multiples!) and glad they are doing well. We ordered lunch in the office today for customers. It's really remarkable how familiar everything tasted. The bark on the pulled pork (and the pork in general) is ridiculously good. All three sauces have varying flavors of awesome. I did not like the pulled chicken...too salty. Speaking of salty...green beans. Holy hell bring the water. Potato salad is great. The mac and cheese was great as well...creamy and delicious. Overall for a to go order it was really good and I can't wait to go sit down and eat soon. Glad to have you in Fishers City Barbeque...it's been a long time!

I have yet to be disappointed. We get the City Sampler and always have enough for lunch the next day. The staff is GREAT the food is AWESOME! The meats are always cooked to perfection, and the sides are great to. My advice get the corn pudding pass on the mac n cheese, and any meat is worth it. Come hungry leave full. I love that they call it "tea and sweet tea", not sweet tea and unsweet tea.,

Pit Master's Pick of More Cowbell. Do I have your attention? It is their "award-winning beef brisket, topped with peppers, smoked provolone, onions and creamy horseradish sauce piled high on Texas toast" (from their website). However, I asked to hold the horseradish sauce. Same cost as a beef brisket sandwich but with more toppings so why not try it -- I did. It was good!

Halloween seemed to be the best night to try out City Barbecue since it's been packed ever since it opened. I swear you've got to hit restaurants at just the right day and time in Fishers because when a new one opens up, it's impossible to get into at first. We got there and just went with the flow since we didn't know how this worked. You order at the counter and then go pick up your meat and sides unless you've ordered something fried. That they give you a number for to put in your table and bring it to you when it's ready. If you've never been before, it's a little confusing and crowded. The logistics isn't pleasing and perhaps the layout could have been done better. We got out food (partially) and went to find a table. Our fried foods (fries for him and hush puppies for me) were brought out very quickly. The fries and hush puppies joined our baked beans and pulled pork. Each table has it's own sauces, four of them to be exact so you can try them all if you choose. The pulled pork was delicious and the baked beans were amazing! I tried his fries and they reminded me of the fries at Five Guys so we were both a big fan. The hush puppies were ok but they give you a ton and I couldn't finish them all. We truly wished we could have fit in the chocolate cake or the banana pudding but we were stuffed. My treat was the old fashioned cherry coke in a bottle I had to drink. You can get a fountain drink (Pepsi products I believe) or there is a bin while you are waiting to order full of old fashioned sodas.

This location has the Blues too!! Joy!!!! BBQ was great. I had the beef brisket and it had great flavor. The rest of the food's good, though the green beans don't seem fresh, I could be wrong, but they seem canned. Atmosphere is pleasantly blues filled. Service has always been good the two times I've been here. Just wish the floor was cleaner- it's 4:30 in the afternoon, and it obviously hasn't been swept since the lunch rush. I'm really touchy about that sort of thing. All in all, I would definitely return.

Love good BBQ, this is a place to go. First, had it at their Avon location. The brisket is my favorite item along with the baked beans, corn pudding, and slaw. For a hungrier appetite go for the city sampler, it's a little of everything and enough for two. If you have room for dessert, they are pretty darn tasty too. Sweet tea is ok but not sweet enough for these southern taste buds. But mix in the lemonade and it will do for an Arnold Palmer. Love the self-service warm sauce and pickle bar, both good on BBQ. The seating is a little tight, but there is outdoor seating during warmer weather.

I just came here for the first time last night, and it won't be my last! I knew going in, it had to be pulled pork. Butttttttt, what sides did I want to get? After some persuasion, I ended up with Corn pudding, and french fries. French fries were meh, while the pudding was YAY! But don't worry, I helped my hubby with his sided of hush puppies and mac and cheese! We had so much food, and I'm looking forward to my dinner left overs. Sweet tea was also so good!

This place is all about the meat! vegetarians behold it, and shudder! City Barbeque is about as close you'll get to Memphis in Indiana. The pulled pork is this establishment's crown jewel, pairing perfectly with any of its deluxe sides. But don't forget the chicken, ribs, and brisket, too. The choices for sauce are also extensive, whether you want sweet, spicy, or something in-between. My one itty, bitty gripe I have about this location is how the service counter is set up. Food comes out on a counter facing the entrance/exit and not toward the dining room, so it can get a bit crowded with people waiting for their food. Other than that, this place is great if the mood for barbeque hits. Also, you can order whole hams and turkeys for the holidays to satisfy your fattiest desires without spending hours in the kitchen. Excellent!

Went back because they were donating a portion of the proceeds to a co-worker's son's soccer league. Ordered the lo-lo pulled pork with creamy slaw, and sides of mac and cheese and baked beans with brisket. All of the food should have been warmer than it was, but was still decent, and the place seems to have improved since last time. The baked beans and brisket was awesome, the mac and cheese seemed to have improved since my last visit (see previous review), and the pulled pork sandwich was what you'd expect. Specifying that I wanted the "creamy slaw" ensured I got the cole slaw I expected rather than what I ended up with last time. A woman who I can only guess was the manager seemed really on top of things, and repeatedly asked patrons if everything was okay and if they needed anything. There was enough improvement that I felt it was only fair to update my review. Solid three stars.

Just wanted to give an update as this has become a regular restaurant we go to. Food has been consistently good. Some hints: Ask for extra bark with your meat. Ask for the bun on the side if you are getting carry out. They have so many good sides, you can get a three side platter on the cheap. We will often do this for the kids. If you order fries, share with the table.

Pulled chicken was way too salty.. when mentioned to staff the manager laughed and walked away. The brisket was good though.

Pam and the Fishers crew consistently provide outstanding service, quality and value. The brisket I had tonight was unbelievably good, fatty and flavorful the way it should be. No sauce is needed! I am serious when I say it is the best brisket in the city of Indianapolis. I am an accomplished backyard smoker so i have a pretty refined palate when it comes to this stuff. Sides are amazing as well. Keep up the awesome work!

  • Katie C.

Great food, speedy service, and decent prices if you're eating with 1-3. I had the pulled pork, and it's definitely the best you can get around Fishers. The meat was tender and it had a nice seasoning, especially when coupled with one of the sauces. The place had a rustic feel and it was well-decorated. The only complaint I had was that as a first time customer, it was a bit confusing figuring out whether to wait at the counter for my food or if I was supposed to wait at a table.

I was very happy with our first trip to City BBQ! I had a beef brisket sandwich with fries and Mac n cheese. Delicious! I'm not a big meat and BBQ fan generally buy I really enjoyed my lunch today. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant itself was something different!

Ahhhhmazing. We shared lolo pulled pork sandwich, hush puppies, bacon cheese fresh cut fry basket. We are stuffed and satisfied. It was $15 we shared it and still had food left over. Deffinetly will be coning back, we love this more than any other restaurant/ fast food in the noblesville fishers area. Yummmmm. My friend got the Mac and cheese and wasn't impressed and fried pickles, there were too many pickles to fi wish but were pretty good.

It's been YEARS since we have found a GREAT barbecue place. And now it's right in our backyard! Walked in and welcomed wonderfully! If it's your first time, it's a lot of information. So nice and helpful since they have a great big yummy menu board. We decided on a City Sampler. We were so pleased! (They have Nehi soda!!! Just a blast from the past!) The slaw is the best I have ever had. The beans, I have to admit are even better than mine. They were cooked to perfection with some brisket in them. The meats were tender and tasty. The sauces were good, the original my favorite, but in the end, I felt like it was an injustice to put sauce on any of them, since they stood up well on their own. The brisket was my favorite. The wood was piled high outside and the smell of the fire was just heavenly. On to the nice people! Even though you go up to get your food, we were so kindly attended to. We went at a slow time, which is our typical dinner time. I can imagine the place gets really busy though. The atmosphere was very fitting for a barbecue place. I love the barbecue history on the wall. I love the wood and the aluminum ceiling. We got our food very quickly, but in NO WAY was this fast food. Just well prepared, easy to serve and cooked to perfection. The prices, considering what we got were frankly amazing. I am marking this as under $10 per person, but we don't get drinks, so factor that in. I could keep going, but I have banana pudding to try! I get the feeling they are going to get to know my husband and I very well!

Love the Carmel location. Hate the Fishers location this time. Just received The Deluxe City Sampler - pulled pork was mostly fat. Brisket was overcooked and cold. Ribs were cold. Both large sides - green beans with bacon and baked beans with brisket were cold. The Texas Toast was anything but toasted. The corn bread was burnt. We asked for more and they just brought more burnt corn bread, said "it's all that way". The only item that was hot and spot on was the chicken. Carmel location you've earned our business and its twice as far from home! After typing my review the Manager - Kelli stopped by the table and we chatted about the food quality. She apologized and provided us with a pass for a replacement Deluxe City Sampler for our next trip. Good customer service, but after the fact. We will see if the pass gets used as its only good at Fishers.
