We tried this place based on Yelp reviews. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with questions. I am kinda a weirdo and don't like hamburgers, so I had checked out the menu online to make sure there was an alternative (that's why we don't go to 5 guys- only burgers). So, I had the chicken Caesar salad. I normally substitute for French dressing, so I was disappointed to see that wasn't an option. My husband ordered a plain cheeseburger. Pepsi products (boo), so I just had water. While we waited on our food, we were served a small amount of the chips, which were quite good. My salad was quite good as well- nice quality chicken, and nice portion size. My husband, who has a hard time finding hamburgers to his satisfaction, said his was very good. I snuck a couple of his fries, and those were quite good as well.

We eat at Wayback every chance we get. Excellent food! Burgers are great, killer fries & onion rings, the homemade chips wonderful! Shakes are great as well. Have not found even one mediocre item at the restaurant. You might even get Phil the owner cooking up your order at the grill. Casual atmosphere, good for everyone. If you have traveled here from out west and want a burger on par with In-N-Out, stop in at Wayback. You will appreciate the real fries at Wayback, none of those skinny potato starch and pre-fried potatoes like the chains. I would recommend Wayback to any travelers here that want a delicious meal after a long drive or flight in. Stop in, place your order, take a seat, and your order will come to your table in no time. Great staff!

These guys have the best and most varied menu of hamburgers. Fast service and super friendly!

Super expensive!! Definitely not worth the money. It was more like firehouse sub's quality. I would eat there again if they lower their prices.

We are visiting form Tennessee for a dog show. We wanted a light dinner and love burgers. Searching Yelp we found Wayback and were very pleased it is close to our hotel. We had never heard if it, but the reviews were positive. We wanted to add our review that the atmosphere is fun since we are from the age of Rock 'n Roll and loved the music playing, the furniture and the food. I ordered the Turkey burger and my wife ordered the Patty Melt, while we shared onion rings. Both sandwiches were delicious and cooked to perfection. The rings were good, but not the best we have ever had, should have ordered the sauce with them. I had a shake and it was served like I used to get it when I was a teen - in the metal can. IT WAS GREAT!. We were very pleased and when we get back in the future we'll dine there again.

Burger wasn't bad, the onion rings were the worst I've ever eaten! Under cooked, probably old oil and the onions themselves weren't at all tasty.

Food was awesome. For the price it is a good deal. Did the triple triple and plan to go back and do it again next time I'm there

Well the burger was good ,Fries ok , shake good but at the cost of 14.75 ,,, NO way if it was 8-9 Dollars it would be ok

Food is amazing. I was skeptical, I'm a diehard In & Out fan from SoCal.they offer not only a military/veteran discount, but it's 20%! Food is fast and fresh. Arrived a little late for dinner time, but staff was very friendly.

Food was better than it looked and it looked amazing! Best burger I've had in years made exactly how I ordered it! Fries were absolute perfection! Crispy outside and soft inside! A bit pricey, but for a treat, we will be back!

Good burger. Nice enough service. Not bad. Glad I tried it. Seemed a bit pricey though. Would try again if in the area and craving a burger. There are other places just as good like 5 guys and culvers

A touch pricey for a burger place. But worth it. The staff were friendly. The dining room was clean. I was brought a sizeable sample of the house made chips to try as my food was being made. When my meal arrived, it was made just the way I asked for. The side order of fries was in good portion. Not sure if I will become much of a regular. But am sure to return.

Fabulous burgers and salads too. Handmade shakes and excellent servive. Low prices too. Take a step back in time. The only negative might be the excessive sports paraphernalia and games on the tv are starting to change the old time burger feel of the place. I still love the food and service.

This place has some extremely friendly people working there. Every time we go I feel very welcome. For fast casual they even come take your empty plates off the table and deliver your food for you. Burgers are decent, although I always go for the special because they have unique ingredients. Once had the mushroom burger special with inside out buns. Latest trip I had a bacon cheeseburger with hot sauce, ranch and fried jalapeños on it. It was delicious. I also enjoy the fry seasoning on the tables (Old Bay?). One day I'll try their 9 patty burger, but for now I'll stick with the special. Good burgers, decent prices, and very friendly staff. My kid likes the chicken tenders too. I'll see you soon Jake!

For fast casual burger place, these guys are pretty good! There burger was awesome and the fries were good too. The topper was the milkshake. If I were a boy, it would have brought me to the yard. Blackberry chocolate? Yes please. Just the right consistency and super yummy. Plus, the staff was friendly and quick. Well done, Wayback. Well done.

Stopped in for a quick burger on the way out of town. Servers were great. You can tell they give a sh$t. Burger was great. Onion rings good also. Seems that everything is cook to order. Comes out fresh. They had some interesting sauces and spices available. Will stop here again. .

We had Wayback on Mothers Day. I was surprised by the crowd. I have been there several times. I agree with another reviewer that their prices are a little high however, the burgers are really good. The beef in the burgers is always very fresh. The fries are not greasy like 5 Guys are. They also mark the burgers on the wrapper so you know who gets which burger. I really like that. I don't go often, but when I want a good burger, I head to Wayback.

Great tasting food. Everything is made fresh when you order, but still served quick. Many options for toppings, and has quite a variety of items- it's not just burgers. I've been here twice so far, and I will be coming back! My only negative- they play "Oldies" music.

We stopped on a whim and we're pleasantly surprised. I had an original burger with everything which was delicious. It was perfectly cooked. A little messy due too all the condiments and a bun that was too soft. My wife had a southwest burger which she enjoyed. A step up from McD and BK and on the same level as 5 Guys.

There aren't too many places in Evansville that help out with family members in regard to food allergies, Jakes Wayback Burger does! Every meal is very good, the staff are very friendly, the place is always clean and we are regulars. Great job Jakes!
(5)Jerry K.
You need to eat here. I travel extensively nationwide and have eaten at tons of burger joints like this one. This is Top Ten. The beef itself is great and it's cooked exactly how it should be. Delish. Onion rings are great too. Evansville doesn't get lots of local restaurants that are great...this has always been a chain town. (This may be a franchise? but doesn't act like one if it is) Support this one!

I knew this place would be legit when I had to circle the parking lot like a bird of prey just to find a parking place at lunch time.. Inside, it was pretty much as packed as the parking lot, but luckily a couple of tables cleared out just as my order was ready. I didn't realize this place was a chain until I looked at their web site. I assumed it was a local place, but there are franchises available. In any case, the burgers are good, cooked to order and very high quality ingredients are used. The house potato chips are pretty good, sort of like a kettle chip. They have some really good looking milkshakes, but I avoid dessert during lunch and didn't try one. The staff was friendly and service was quick. I would definitely go to Wayback Burgers again.

I had lunch at Wayback Burgers the first of March during the middle of the week. The staff was very friendly and since it was my first visit went over the menu with me answering any question i had. I ordered the double with onion rings. My food was brought to my table within 5 minutes and it was hot and fresh. The burger was delicious. I would say it is as good as a Five Guys burger but different. However, the onion rings were a huge disappointment. I was told they were beer battered but they lacked any taste whatsoever. Overall, a great burger. They are a little on the pricey side but the burger was worth every penny, so to me that isn't an issue. Family of three will probably have a ticket between $25-$30. Just an FYI.

Hamburger was tasteless. One of the worst tasting hamburgers I have ever had. I will not be back.
