I have never ate here, and I never will. They usually have violations in their food inspection reports.

Awesome place to eat! Service is fantastic and Charlie is hilarious! Food is incredible because you get to choose what you want on your plate. Charlie is an expert at choosing your sauces and I am never disappointed. Great server - she is friendly and always takes really great care of me. Best part is that I usually have leftovers which means two meals for one low price. I am always a satisfied customer with a happy stomach!

We were looking for a lunch place and decided to try this place. This place turned out to be fantastic and they treated us like kings. We told them that we are vegetarians, and he took extra care to insure that his frying pan was clean. They had a lot of choices for the vegetables and noodles. The whole meal turned out to be great. The food has excellent value for $8 per person. We will definitely come back to this place next time we are in Evansville and I can recommend it to all vegetarians. The price includes a trip to desert bar as well.

The food is always cooked perfect. Charley is fantastic with the customers. He knows how to make you laugh every time. Food is cooked fast so a great place to go if you have a short lunch but don't want fast food.

Best asian food in Evansville. Feeds you for 2 days to boot, i go here with my fiance all the time and she loves it as much as I do.

"You want to cry like little tiny girl or you want to cry like big fat woman?" No lie, Charlie asked that when asking how spicy someone wanted their food. Charlie definitely has a sense of humor and he is very hospitable. The outside of the place kind of looks rundown, but what it lacks in sophistication and decor, it makes up for it with the food. If you haven't been to Mongolian Barbeque before, you pick up a plate and you make your way through a buffet of ingredients. A couple different kinds of noodles, veggies of all sorts, meats, seafood, egg, and all sorts of sauces and spices to add. While I like choosing the noodles, veggies, and meat, I prefer it when Charlie makes the sauce for me. I never seem to get the right combination that he does. You pile the ingredients as high as you can and then they throw it on a huge griddle and move it around with large sticks and when it is finished, they sweep it onto a plate and it is yours to enjoy! As a college student or just someone on a budget, this place was nice because you could fill your plate up and it wouldn't break the bank. Not to mention they bring you tortillas, rice, and a peanut sauce to accompany your concoction.

AHHH!! I dream about this place. One of the few things I miss about E-Ville. We would come here from the hospital for lunch sometimes. But after eating Charlie's, you'll be pretty worthless for the afternoon. So yummy, so much food. I have never left here without feeling so full I could burst - but in a good way. Basically, you pick what you want, pile it (and I mean PILE it) on your plate, grab a couple eggs, and they cook it all up into a glorious steaming pile of goodness that you'll crave and will keep you coming back! The only reason I can't do the 5th star is it is the 'dessert' buffet always looks like the desserts have been sitting there all week. Not much turnover there. But seriously, you will not have room for dessert. Hit Charlies for lunch - I promise you won't regret it.

I have been all around the US and have tried several different Mongolian BBQ"s. Let me say that this is, by far, the worst Mongolian BBQ I have ever been too! I think most people that give reviews are locals and are just excited that this place is a little more unique than the average chain restaurants that are swarming this area, but by no means is this quality Mongolian. Let me start out by saying THE MEAT IS NOT FRESH, BUT RATHER FROZEN!! ITS FROZEN WHEN YOU PICK IT, RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE!!!!!! Crazy-- never show that your meat is not fresh, ever! The chicken and beef are all frozen, pre-sliced sitting in a bin, as hard as a rock. They de-thaw it by cooking it with all your food! Apparently this doesn't bother people, but if you are like me (or any other Mongolian Restaurant I've been to) the meat should ALWAYS BE FRESH. What is the point in fresh vegetables if you're just going to mix in frozen meat with it. Go with the rice, because if you get the noodles, you will just be eating a dish that tastes identical to chinese buffet lo-mein. I would consider this place more chinese than traditional Mongolian BBQ. They do cook the food on a mongolian grill which is nice, but I will never come back here again purely for the frozen, not fresh, meat. Yes, Charlie is very personable and funny, but that's not enough to bring me back to this place ever again.

Understandably, you may be a little hesitant based on the decor and overall appearance of the place. Don't let yourself judge a book by its cover - this place is delicious. The food is all clearly labeled and quickly cooked once you hand over your plate, and rice and tortillas are freely available. This place is foodie goodness while still being able to maintain a sense of healthiness. Solid.

I've been on a roll lately with great Yelp eating suggestions! This decent place is in the middle of a restaurant "desert". Food was fresh and tasty. If I'm in the area again, it will definitely be on my list of lunch choices.

Definite must have if you're in the area. Great selection of food that's also tasty, great prices, and the owner was incredibly nice. Can't wait to go back again.

Love, love, love Charlie's. Charle always welcomes you and makes you feel at home. The food is amazing. You just have to ask yourself one question... One tear or two?

Pleasantly surprised. Don't let the ugly exterior scare you. Food was really good and the service was excellent. I love Mongolian but never know what sauces to pick. But here the cook asked me questions and then chose for me. Result was far better than all those times I've gone to the Genghis Grill. Owner also walks around and checks. I'd go back.

Charlies's never disappoints. I like that I am able to select what goes on my plate and what kind of sauces I want it cooked in. It gets very crowded at lunch, but the line moves pretty quick. It obviously is always fresh and hot since I make my plate and they cook it while I wait. It is always a pleasure seeing Charlie. Very friendly!

You can't say you don't like anything on the menu here. It's a great put it together yourself noodle buffet where you grab your noodles and pile on the mix-ins you want on a plate then they cook it on a flat top grill for you. Always let the guys top the sauces for you and don't forget the egg. Food: 3/5 - I'd rate higher but the quality of the food can be better Service: 4/5 Location: 4/5

I always have a great time at Charlie's! The food is great and he always remembers me even if it has been years!

Charlie - what can I say? He's a hoot! The food is as good as you make it, as you pick all of the ingredients and watch them cook it for you. It's Charlie that really brings people in. He has this crazy book of tears he shows children regarding. You can get the food as spicy as you like, just tell him
(4)Kevin K.
Good food. You get to pick everything on your plate. The service is really nice and great. My only piece of advice is if you have a weak stomach make sure to tell them to cook your food well done. Other wise you might end up with some stomach trouble later in the night.

This is defiantly my favorite place. The food is great, and Charlie makes the entire place light up with his personality and jokes. :)

Fresh veggies with house sauce, here I come! I love the variety they have here-- by the time I've reached the end of the options, I'm trying desperately to keep things from falling off my plate. Thanks to Talylor-- I will now be employing the noodle-edge idea. I agree that the tofu quality isn't the greatest-- can't attest to the meat quality-- but the vegetable options make up for it. Although it's a good value as the pricing stands now, I wouldn't pay more to dine here. The up-sides: Charlie is really entertaining, you can make it as healthy as you want (and in the world of Evansville chain restaurants, finding a healthy place is a BIG positive), you custom-make whatever you want, and the sauces are yummy. The thing is, I can make this at home, and I do. A lot. Over-all, this is a great place to go if it's the middle of your workday and you don't have time (or a kitchen) to whip up your own stir fry, or if you just don't feel like cooking and want something that will both satisfy your tastebuds and leave you feeling healthy.

Anyone familiar with any other Mongolian BBQ place (e.g., BD's, Flattop Grill) should know the drill here. You pile a bunch of noodles, raw vegetables, and raw meats onto a plate, then a team of cooks throw it all on a hot stone grill and have it ready for you in minutes. What sets this place apart from the aforementioned chains is the pricing (which is fairly cheap, especially at lunch) and the service (Charlie, who usually mans the sauces, has a great sarcastic sense of humor). I do question why they serve each table tortillas along with rice, but a little cultural confusion doesn't change my positive opinion of the place.

Love it! Always a great meal. No one to blame but yourself if you don't pick a nice combination. Charlie is so funny and friendly. Building might be a dump but the food is amazing.

Very cool place 2 visit. U get 2 choose ur ingredients & watch as the food is prepared on a flat grill/skillet. Food always fresh & yummy. Service is quick & friendly. Charlie himself is a very cute & charming man. He will certainly put a smile on ur face. Prices r extremely fair. Great quality & taste. U will leave with plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow or dinner that nite. A hidden jewel in evansville.

This place is absolutely AWESOME. Charlie, the owner, is always there and making sure you are getting great service. The food is to die for. You pick what you want on a plate, then they cook it for you (stir fry). The prices are very, very good. Cannot say enough positive things about Charlies. Do not let the appearance of the building (and the location) discourage you from going. I do believe that is why the prices are so good!

I Love Charlie's! I was there when they were first opened and I go there now whenever I get a chance.

How high can you stack a plate filled with noodles, vegetables and frozen meat? The regular lunch crowd is incredibly adept with their Eiffel tower creations, employing techniques such as constructing the noodles in a circle to surround a pit base of vegetables and then placing meat like Jenga. They ask how many scoops of chili pepper paste? I went with two and it wasn't enough the first time so I have upgraded to three which is just right for me. He also puts on house sauce, a few liquid scoops and vinegar to balance the heat. It's cheap; I'm not a huge fan of the meat or tofu quality but the vegetables are fantastic. A good cheap lunch option to mix things up in the area and increase my dry cleaning bill.

If you screw up your meal at Charlie's it's probably your fault for picking the ingredients. This place is great, and "Charlie" is HILARIOUS!
