Located in downtown Evansville, IN, on Main St., close to the Ohio river. Food is rich and delicious. I had the spinach ravioli, which was heavenly. My husband had the lasagna, large portion. Complimentary garlic rolls and Italian salad. The rolls are to die for. It is definitely worth a stop, if you are headed downtown Evansville. Would recommend, service good, locally owned.

I went for dinner with a coworker recently and had an decent experience. Its ambience is nice but the food is alright. The house dressing is great and so is the homemade marina. I had the eggplant dish for about thirteen dollars and a fried provolone appetizer. The fried provolone was simply cheese sticks with dipping sauce. Don't expect super flavorful food but it is filling. A bit expensive for my taste.

Angelo's, in my opinion, is the best Italian in Evansville. The portions are always generous, and the service is generally pretty good. For wifey's Birthday, we were back in Evansville, and made a reservations for (9) of us on the day after Thanksgiving. Fortunately, Angelo's accommodated us, even though we called the day of. Our table ordered the following: Chicken Parmesan, Fettuccine Alfredo, Lasagna, and three of us ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, which is amazing. In fact, Angelo's has the best Chicken Cordon Bleu of any Italian restaurant I have dined at. Two servers handled our large party, and wifey even got a Birthday Cheesecake (which was amazing) on the house. Top notch! I will return again when in Eville!

The customer service was outstanding here. Trent was my server and he was fast and friendly. I had the Chicken Ala Angelo's and it was delicious. They need to go lighter on the salad dressing and the garlic butter on the rolls. Also, it would be nice if they would carry some local, craft beer. (Carson's, etc.) I don't like chains and I would go back here.

Absolutely amazing. Been a couple of times and it's been great. My favorite is the chicken cordon bleu. The salad and rolls are a bit oily but I enjoyed them despite this fact. The service was great and they even have a great priced lunch menu.

The food here is okay-standard italian fare. However, every time I have eaten here they have been out of at least one item on the menu (usually the fried ravioli). The service is very slow, even when there are only a few tables in the restaurant. The servers tend to bring out drinks (bottles of beer) to half the table at a time, leaving the other half waiting for 10 minutes. I probably won't be going here again unless someone else in the group really wants to.

If you don't like mushrooms be prepared to have limited options! It seemed they were in anything I wanted and I hate them. The garlic knots are delicious and the server was great but I left there feeling like I had experienced all that there was to experience given the mushrooms and without feeling the need to go back.

I had a very mixed experience while at Angelo's. The staff was phenomenal. They were so kind and accommodating to my son's food allergy, and just friendly and attentive overall. If I could rate them solely on service, they would get a 5, but it's hard to overlook the food and decor. Angelo's poses as a "fine dining" dining restaurant, but they simply are not. The food is extremely bland and almost every dish is swimming in cheese. The decor is lacking. The salad is overloaded with onions and they use Good Seasons salad dressing...not my idea of fine dining. Honestly, I feel bad giving them a low rating because they are so nice, but the food is pretty awful.

Not impressed. The food was all extremely oily, cream sauce was broken. Customer service was lacking. Our waiter was not friendly or concerned with our experience at all. Very disappointed. Would not visit Angelo's again.

I first went to Angelo's in a large group of about 15-20 girls for a birthday party. The staff was incredible. Our waiter was outstanding. He was friendly and just on top of his game. The food is amazing. It's authentic Italian in southern Indiana. I've had the Chicken Marsala, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and the Lasagna. Everything was AWESOME. The marsala sauce...perfect. The cordon bleu sauce...perfect. I'm not even a lasagna fan and that was amazing. Free, HUGE tossed salad with an oil based dressing and rolls with a spicy, pesto butter. I LOVE free treats before my meal. I went to college in Evansville and I would always take visitors here for a nice dinner. Authentic Italian food at reasonable prices. Angelo's is a must try and in my opinion, a must LOVE.

Service was ok. Wasn't as dressy as my friend had told me. A bit noisy. Food was good. They could have brought more garlic rolls. I started off with a couple of appetizers: the stuffed mushrooms which were excellent, and the fried ravioli which was a little dry but tasty. ho-hum marinara sauce. the salad was typically swimming in olive oil & vinegar - hey restaurants, can you please CUT THAT OUT - but was mixed up pretty well with red onions and a black olive or two. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and the Chicken Parmesan. In both cases the chicken was a little tougher than I'd like but it was about as good as you'd expect from a Denny's. The appearance of mushrooms was pleasant but they should have been cooked longer. By the time I reached the pasta it was cold so I just took it home to reheat for lunch. They were out of Amstel Light so I settled for a couple of Newcastle's. Holy crap. $60 before the tip? Thank god I brought a $30 Groupon. If this is the best Evansville has to offer, it's a pretty sorry town.

Over-priced, mediocre food. Yes, the bread is good, but that seems to be their only redeeming quality.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The food was positively outstanding. Tonight we started with the Crab Cakes which were made fresh and served over a small bed of angel hair, everything covered in a creamy pesto. I ordered the Lasagna after deciding I wanted something traditional. It came out baked in a dish, absolutely delicious in a slightly sweet marinara sauce covered in mozzarella. Mmm. He ordered Tortillini Alla Pesto. A cheese tortillini with peas and sundried tomatoes served in a creamy pesto sauce (which seemed to be a combination of pesto and alfredo, making it very creamy and delicious). The food was outstanding, and we even got free dessert: red velvet cake. Mmm. My only real complaint is the crying baby at a near by table--this seems to be much more of an adult restaurant, lots of ambiance. Also, having to wait a good while be for being waited on. After that though, it was a very pleasant meal.

I have frequented Angelo's for 13 years now and can honestly say that I will never tire of this wonderful little place. From the very friendly service, to the warm colors of the restaurant, Angelo's is definitely my favorite place to eat Italian food. Everything I have ever eaten there is delicious! The lasagna and Penne Carbonara are my two favorites. They offer a nice menu, with plenty to choose from for meat lovers as well as vegetarians. Their salad is always fresh and tasty and their garlic rolls are to die for! Far better than breadsticks you might get at any other Italian chains. They also have a nice wine selection and wonderful desserts such as fresh cannolis and home made Tiramisu. Very nice atmosphere as well. Oh and lunch is great too and very affordable. At lunch, they have more of a cafeteria style thing going on, where you order from a selection of food they have at the counter, from pizza to pasta, complete with salad and rolls. You can buy a whole lunch with a soda for around $6.00 and everything on their lunch menu is incredible too. Buy local. You won't be sorry!

We went for lunch and I was impressed. I had a pasta combo that included two kinds of pasta, a salad, and their wonderful garlic rolls for about $6 total. What a great deal! The service was just standing in line to get our food so no comment there other than the workers were friendly. The atmosphere was standard as well. I can't comment on dinner, but it's a great place for lunch in Evansville.

Just ate dinner there for the first time. I have had the ala carte lunch before. I thought the food and service was very good. I do think the prices are just a tad on the high side, but the portion size is huge. We had calamari for an appetizer and it was delicious. The Chicken Cordon Blue was cooked very well. Really like the atmosphere and will return again soon.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
